Best teacher I've had
I second the motion.
All around good teacher. Listens, friendly, and will take time to help individuals. Wont let you get away with crappy writing, either.
Salcedo rocks, tough grading on papers but makes you actually improve your writing ability (greatly). One of the top 3 professors I've ever had. Do not take Writ 101 with any other professor. Grades partially on improvement. Expect to work hard for an A.
I learned A LOT from Salacedo--he's tough, but if you want to improve your writing skills and grasp the concepts, you'll enjoy him!
He's the best professor I've ever had, and he's really helped me improve my writing and even other aspects of my life, such as confidence.
Awsome. He made writing fun.
does a very good job teaching. I'm taking another class with him next quarter if that says anything.
Salcedo is a great teacher. Probably the best teacher i've ever had. He grades tough, but it's worth it.
If you are willing to work he is willing to help. recommended
awsome teacher. very funny. im taking him again this quarter for wrt 102
agreed
Awesome teacher, and hilarious! As long as you work for it, he'll help you. He tells you exactly what he wants, and exactly how to make your writing better. Belive me, that's hard to find!
History of film class was fun and easy. Prof Salcedo is articulate and thought provoking. The course work was easy to keep up with. His expectations require some thought and time but are rewarded with fair grades.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Before I took his class I thought I can write, but now I realize I had a lot to improve. Thanks to Jason Salcedo I am now more confident in my writing skills!
Jason is a great professor. He pissed me off by giving me a few C papers that I thought were better. I ended up with an A- after working my arse off. I am a better writer because of it.
good teacher he just pisses me off because he gave me a C but i guess i didnt try that hard anyways. his choice in stories sucks serious a**
excellent teacher! funny guy, very interesting, dont take for granted his willingness to help and explain, good good discussions
It is possible to get an A in his class, especially since you get to do a rewrite on one of the first 2 papers. Downside: Sometimes he gets in a very bad mood for no apparent reason and then class is NOT fun. Normally: A very good teacher for this class. I feel that I am a better writer now.
He was a cool teacher, but graded REALLY hard. Expected you to do your very best. because his grading was so hard I did not like the class very much, but I would still reccomend him.

do the work and you'll pass the class. but do the best work you posibly can, or he will know.
Good teacher, but some weird subjects... like: Is Tupoc Shakur actually dead? kinda strange and quirky, but fun. You learn, and you have fun, but you dont work your ass off. 4 papers the whole time, and thats all we needed. Always interesting, only 4 papers + some reading for entire year's homework.
He expects the best, because he is preparing you for a four year school. He assumes most everyone is applying to the UW, which most people claim. But while he does make you work, he bends over backwards to help, and ensure understanding. Easily the best teacher SPSCC has.
The best teacher I've had at SPS so far. Passionate, articulate and funny. You can tell he really cares about his students. It was an easy A but I still felt like I was learning. :)

Jason is a wonderful teacher. He is very helpful and this was by far my favorite college class. He is challenging but that is what makes you learn. I would for sure recommend him to anyone struggling with writing.
A very good teacher! Helpful and entertaining. Likes to add humor to the class, but still keeps everyone on task. Will work with you to help you understand, and is open to a lot of suggestions. A fun class!
Jason is a rad teacher. He's pretty funny and is really helpful. He's always willing to meet with students outside of clas if they're having trouble. He really taught me alot.
Awesome teacher...probably favorite at SPSCC. Funny and articulate in teaching. Relates to students, definitely not one of those snoody teachers. Never met a person that didn't like him.
he is intellectually stimulating!!
I wish I could take a higher level writing class with Salcedo. He clearly loves what he does and makes writing rewarding for his students. The class is engaging and Salcedo cares what the students think. He is available for guidance and advice and his direction is right on point. A no nonsense guy with a great sense of humor. One of the best at SPS
great teacher, and knows his stuff too. class environment was relaxed and he gaves us breaks halfway through. work was minimal at best. nonetheless i tooka lot from the class. i plan on taking other classes with him. smart guy, only reason i can see he's teaching at a CC is a lack of arrogance.
Grading was too subjective. If you are older and still want an "A" you have to write extremely well. He does not grade the 19 yr olds the same as the 40yr olds, especially females. This is unfortunate because many in the class now have low self-esteem when it comes to writing papers for other classes.
I agree that Salcedo lowers people's self-esteem. He doesn't know much and he acts like he knows his subject. Not a helpful teacher when you are having difficulties. One of the worst at SPSCC.

I could not picture or imagine a more helpful teacher. Im just in running start and not the strongest writer out there. The first grade I got on my paper was a C. I don't get C's and he lead me through the steps to get an A. I did have to re-write it 3 times but I LEARNED! Thats more than I can say for any teacher i've ever had!
I took him over a year ago and his exuberant passion was infectious. He's sincere, eloquent, and a phenomenal teacher. He didn't analyze lit. just as dry text, but related the themes to life and the greater scheme of things. Because of him, I'm on my way to being a CC prof. as well. He may not change your life, but he is definitely worth taking.

All around good teacher. Relaxed, cool, and funny. His grading system is tough but it will improve your writing skills.
Jason is a nice guy, I found him to be helpful and not too difficult. I would recommend him
His class is hard, but its super interesting and his lectures are great. Hes fun to listen to and he gets the class involved. He'll help you succeed too, you just have to make some effort.
I found myself very intimidated by Mr.Salcedo. He was friendly enough,I did walk away with a new found interest in reading more, but his class was just not right for me. It was nothing personal, I just didn't feel well matched for his teaching style. Some teachers you get that feel who you can excell with,I didn't feel that w/his class.
Jason has high standards for his students but doesn't hesitate to help them reach those standards. His lecture style is easy to follow and understand. Very much available for his students.
Makes your earn your grade but is willing to work with you. He has a great sense of humor. I totally enjoyed his class. Highly recommend.
Great teacher, very generous w/ time and attention. Very well organized, w/ great grasp of material. Nice fellow too, and serious about what you're there to gain.
Very subjective teacher.
Exellent teacher!! Very helpful and picky...but that is because he is actually TEACHING!!!
Although Jason is very picky but he's a excellent teacher if you really want to learn English!!
Salcedo is one of the most interesting professors I have encountered at SPSCC. He encourages one to think -- he is perhaps more of a philosopher than a writer, but he teaches English composition very well. (He is also sort of a hard grader.)
Prof. Salcedo is a really cool teacher, you can tell he is very interested in what he is teaching. He is very knowledgable and extremely approachable. Oftentimes, I do not like speaking up in class because I am afraid I will sound stupid, but Salcedo always showed a huge appreciation to participation in class which made me speak up often.
Lots of class discussion. Gives a lot of self-direction with your papers.
Highly recommend him for a real college class.
Professor Salcedo has a unique teaching style that really makes you want to learn to write creatively and outside the box like him! He's a touch grader! He doesn't want you to write just anything down you need analyze everything you write down. He makes you think! and his nerdy way of being is pretty hot lol.
I had him for writing 101, and I thought he was very difficult. Writing 102 was easier than this writing 101 teacher!!
LOVE him! Class was easy and I learned alot. Very available to students and willing to answer any questions. (and he's cute too)
Salcedo has high standards for papers but he is very fair in grading them. If you think the class is hard or that he was "too picky", it's either because you didn't want to make the effort or because you're not that bright. The man is entertaining, engaging and not bad to look at. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.
Jason was a great teacher he was helful and made me a better writer highly recommend for eng 101 if you need help with writing.
Jason is a really great professor who is always willing to help. Don't take this class if you want an easy A. But if you want to learn, I would strongly reccomend his class, especially for tech. majors who don't need ENLG 102. Attendance may not be mandatory, but if you want to do well in his class, you should show up everyday.
If you are a good writer before taking this class you might do ok. His lectures were ok, he does a good job of explaining what he expects from you. Class discussion were always very lively and interesting. I would not want to take this class again.
SPSCC has few great english professors and Jason is one of them. He's very interesting and sorta cute in his own nerdy way.
Awesome teacher, passion for teaching and wants students to succeed. Very clear but you have to work for your grade. Show interest and do your work and you will get a good grade. Paying attention during class and doing all papers assigned will assure you an A. I'm not the best writer and I got an A-. Not a class for slackers!
Salcedo is a very passionate teacher when it comes to English. He takes time to help students, and even offers conferencing opportunities. Would strongly recommend this teacher :)
He is a great teacher! I would highly recommend him. I've taken most of his classes for this very reason. One of the few teachers that I've left the class feeling I truly learned something. If you are lazy or don't enjoy learning this isn't for you.
I took eng. 101 with Jason and am taking him again for 102. Although being a somewhat harder teacher, he is really funny and gives you the help when you need it. He pretty much cracks me up everyday! He is very passionate about his work which is very nice as well!
Jason taught the last third of my english 101 class due to a previous, incompetant teacher that started off the course. He did an excellent job at helping us catch up and made up for a rough start.
Jason was very passionate about film but his tests and grading were ridiculous. He made no clear answers, everything was based on his "theories" of what things might mean. Failure to see his "theories" resulted in a c+ for me. I turned in every assignment and did extra credit.
Prof. Salcedo has a genuine interest in helping students grow. Always has time for a student who has questions or needs pointers. Not afraid to try a new teaching/course strategy if it promises to be engaging and instructional. I crack up every single day in this class. Winsome, judicious, erudite, hilarious. TAKE HIS CLASS!
Mr.Salcedo is one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. He possesses a mastery of the subject matter (English)combined with a practical approach to teaching. His classes are packed with information and critical thinking exercises along with his great sense of humor makes a positive learning enviroment.
I really enjoyed Jason, I had him for the last few weeks of my Eng 101 class and then decided to take 102 from him. I found him to be challenging enough that I was actually doing something but no so hard that I couldn't pass the class. I even thought about sticking around a little bit longer just to take another class from him HIGHLY recommend him!
If learning is truly your goal, one would be hard pressed to find a better instructor. He is not easy, but he is very helpful and very animated. He will challenge you to do your best work and gives very constructive feed back. I highly recommend taking his class.
I thought I was a good writer, until I took his class. He's very challenging, but a challenge that isn't boring, if you like writing. Not too much reading, mostly from "50 Essays." I agree in that he is very animated. He is passionate about the literature and the art, which makes it interesting and fun for students.
Professor Salcedo is the best professor I've ever had. Highly recommended. I took him for my English 101 class and it was great. He has a lot of energy, makes his classes fun and loves what he is doing.I'm looking forward to take English 102 with him if it's possible
Awesome Teacher.
Jason helped me fall in love with writing again. He gives you everything you need to do well on your papers in class. He loves participation, and never makes you feel stupid. He keeps his classes fun, and he's hilarious. I learned so much from him, I can't wait to take another class from him!
Jason is an amazing professor I would recommend him to anyone.I only had a little bit of trouble with some parts of essays. Definately felt like a college class.
I took Mythic Image with Jason Salcedo. His teaching style was unique, making the subject not only personal for the students, but personal for himself as well. He likes entertaining new perspectives and is very open-minded. But be warned, if you like absolute answers and classes where you reiterate the teacher's ideas, this class is not for you.
Jason is a wonderful teacher and person that truly cares about what he teaches as well as his students. We studied Hitchcock's filmsfrom the 1920's-1960's and it was the most fascinating class I've had at SPSCC. Everyone should take one of his classes
Although I did enjoy his talks, Salcedo did not show interest in helping me succeed. When asking for help on revisions, he was unclear. He made me feel terrible and depressed.
Super funny and nice teacher. Best english teacher I have ever had. Didn't like english until I took his class.
This guy is the bomb!
HE IS THE BEST ! EVENTHOUGH HIS GRADING IS TOUGH ! HE IS VERY HELPFUL ! You can revise 2 of your papers ! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ! YOU WILL LEARN A LOT FROM HIM
Even though the movies we watched were mostly awful, talking about them afterward was entertaining. The lectures weren't boring. I learned so much in this class! He has a broad perspective that makes it hard to give a wrong answer. He tries to make sure everyone participates in discussions fairly. He's also very funny.
He instructed my English 101 class. He was very helpful and funny.
Outstanding professor! I took his Tues/Thurs class expecting to have trouble concentrating since it was much longer than other classes but boy was I wrong! He keeps students entertained with jokes and activities throughout. I learned a ton and will definitely be taking 102 from him.
Don't expect an A. I've never tried so hard in a class and I don't feel I got the grade I deserved. He's the first professor to break my 4.0
Salcedo was great! Funny, entertaining, really cared about his students. He was always welcome to help and suggestions. He was a tough paper grader but you were allowed to rewrite two of the papers if needed! Would take him again without question.
I took his linked class with Eric Chase. If you ever get a chance to take this linked class, DO IT. Salcedo is extremely knowledgeable and he's hilarious. He's a tough paper grader, but he gives you the opportunity to revise the paper. For that alone, somebody give that man a cookie.
Jason is very passionate and knowledgeable. I hadn't even seen a Hitchcock film prior to this class and really took away a greater appreciation and view of film study. The in class discussions made up for some of the slower black and white films we watched. Would def recommend this class to a motivated student. Professor Salcedo for the win!
Professor Salcedo is so wonderful. He's the best if it's your first time taking college english. He helps you with your essays during private meetings and gives you lots of time to get comfortable with essay prompts. Jason will challenge you to think outside of the box. Great teacher, I would take him again with no doubt in my mind.
Professor Salcedo is easily one of the best instructors I've ever been taught by. Probably one of the best features of his class was that even though the assignments we had were pretty standard, the way he approached the essays were really constructive and helpful. And if you needed help working with a concept or idea, he helps you through it.
If you need to take an English class, do it with Salcedo! He tends to be a tough grader, but he gave two opportunities for paper revisions and encouraged one on one conferences to discuss your writing. He was a great professor and a ton of help.
The textbook he asked for was never used. He did give time to write the papers in class, but most of the time I wondered what I was doing there. His grading clear, but he didn't give many suggestions when asked how to improve the paper's grade.
I loved every second in this man's class. Would love to grab a beer with the guy and just pick his brain. I had him for Film History and it turned out to be my favorite class at SPSCC! I wish I could go back in time and take his english classes. He provided an awesome and encouraging environment for us students to have lively conversations abt film
Would definitely recommend talking with him if you get stuck; he's really good to bounce ideas off of, and he can offer different perspectives.
Absolutely awesome! Super helpful and enjoyable! I loved having him and he really goes out of his way to make himself accessible when you want help!
I LOVE Jason. He is a wonderful professor and if you offer the oppurtunity to connect with him you are likely to build a nice friendship. He gave me great feedback and made me a much better writer than I was prior to this class. There's three essays, all focused around the topic of your choosing. He gives great feedback and plenty of opportunities.
I had Jason for his film class that looked specifically horror films. His class was so amazing and I really did enjoy all of the filmed we watched and how he explained them. Only critique would be that some of the required readings are pretty rough. If you mention it he usually helps you through it or shortens them.
Very clear on expectations and constantly reminds the class that he is available to help.
Genuinely cares about his students, doesn't have an ego or come off as condescending at all. He's very passionate about what he has to say and I plan on taking his English 102 in Spring.
I took Salcedo for my English 101 credit. Salcedo is a great guy and makes his classes very interesting even if it is just a simple 101 class. BEWARE: The majority of your grade is determined by three essays and he does grade these very stiffly. I did very well in my high school english classes and barely escaped this class with an "A".
Professor Salcedo is awesome. Watch movies and have discussions. There was in class work and easy weekly quizzes. Some outside reading. Good choice in movies as well.
He is extremely helpful both in class and outside of class. He makes himself very available for his students and is able to help students learn in a fun way. He is a very inspiring teacher and his class is simple to pass but, you might want to meet with him outside of class if you're struggling. He is very clear in what he expects and a great perso
Jason is a great professor. Very fun personality and very inspirational. Awesome class would highly recommend him! Will be taking again
One of the best professors I have ever had. Salcedo is passionate about the power of writing and about ensuring the success of his students. Show up to class every day and he will give you all the tools you need to do well on his assignments and in future classes.
AMAZING teacher! Took him for 101 my first semester at SPS. Probably my favorite teacher. He is super good with being open to assisting students outside of classes on their essays. Great feedback and really helps you grow as you get the A.
Mr. Salcedo was very kind caring, and always willing to listen to your clarifying questions or concerns. His grading is somewhat unclear and his assignments are very vague. If you don't consider yourself a strong writer, this class will be a challenge for you since he nitpicks all of the essays even though he barely outlines the assignment.
If you have the chance to have Jason as a professor, take it. He is a great teacher and you can tell he cares about his students. Helped improve my writing drastically. The course load was challenging, but very manageable. Your grade is mostly based on 4 different essays due over the course of the quarter but there are opportunities to rewrite 2.
He's a great teacher who really wants his students to succeed. I haven't liked English class since 6th grade, but this class has made me love writing again! Highly recommend this class and professor.
Although he grades essays with scrutiny he is fair and gives a great foundation for other class essays. He is very nice and approachable and I will take his class again for English 102. Very good teacher!
Salcedo was a hilarious professor always leaving me with a smile on his face. His lectures are good and interesting, but it makes it so it's really important that you show up. He often gives points for in class activities and without that you'll do poorly. In ENG 102 he only gives 3 assignments out, all being large papers. He is a difficult grader
Jason was a great person. He was very good at teaching in class although, he was quite unclear with essay grading. He will tell you if you did good or bad but isn't specific about what you did right or wrong.
Jason is awesome!!!! Laid back guy always willing to help with papers. 3 papers a quarter, he's a tough grader you have to work for an A. But overall great class and great teacher.
jason is cool. He gives you good feedbak. And He courages people to work hard. If you did not attend his class, he would try his best and help you make up those points. He grade paper really detailed, I like his feedback. I improved my skills for sure.
I took Jason's film history class, and it is definitely one of the best courses I've taken at SPSCC. He carries so much enthusiasm to this class and the movies we watch, and gets excited by people's interpretations and input of the course material. It's definitely changed the way I watch movies.
Really great professor with useful feedback. Genuinely wants his students to succeed. Try not to miss to many days because you never know when there will be participation points or a pop quiz.
He was very passionate and taught the class in an interesting way. He is very accessible outside of class and his grading is clear, but very harsh. He works well with students, but sometimes his feedback was repetitive. Overall, he's a good teacher.
I took Jason for 101 and 102 and hes an amazing teacher! Hes fun to be around and is easy going! For the essays, hes is a tough grader so be prepared to work hard for an A! Also, attendance is important in his class so make sure not to skip or you will lose participation points!
Jason's incredible writing is complimented greatly by his equally incredible teaching. He genuinely cares about his students and bringing out the best in them and their writing. He gives great feedback and direction while encouraging you to find your own voice. Best English class you could ever take. Jason is a professor that I will never forget.
Jason genuinely cares about each students personal growth. Most professors seem to care more about getting the lessons across . He makes an effort to really help our learning and has a very inviting air to him that makes his students both not nervous but eager to ask for help. If you have a chance to take a class with this great man, please do!!!!
I have learned so much from his class and absolutely love showing up to it. His assignment criteria is always clear and gives great feedback. He is a great teacher and very passionate about everything he teaches!
One of my favorite professors at SPSCC. I enjoyed his class as it was my first class at the college. Jason was a tough grader so his class did put a toll on my GPA. This class has a few quizzes but they are not difficult. It is not easy to get a good grade on your paper if he does not know of your topic. You get lots of feedback from him + peers.
Definitely one of the best professors I've had. He gives great feedback on your papers that WILL make you a better writer. Only a few assignments throughout the quarter, so just make sure you put in the work.
FAVORITE professor at SPSCC. He is the most kind and caring guy out there. He truly cares about his students and wants everybody to succeed. I am definitely a math/science brain, so I usually dread english classes. But I would take english every quarter if it meant he was going to be my professor. Definitely take him!
An enriching class that was really enjoyable! Jason is a great professor. His video intros or film reflections were great. This class helped to broaden my view and open my mind to films I never would have discovered on my own. I now have a great appreciation for new genres. Class discussions were very impactful. Highly recommend !
Amazing professor; his lectures help you think critically about your writing. Provides great, helpful feedback to everyone. Highly recommend this professor!
He does a wonderful job at conveying his point and gives good insight on what he expects out of us as students. He grades pretty fair and is super understanding. He makes me feel human unlike other teachers where I tend to feel like a robot sometimes. I really appreciate this professor and recommend him for sure. He also gives us useful tips.
He is a great professor that teachers beyond more than just English. He is very descriptive and never hesitates to give help when needed. He is understanding and will give you extensions because he is relatable. His grading scale can seem vague but when you ask in class he will clarify it and help you! He respects his students and does not judge.
Professor Salcedo is not only a funny and caring guy but he is also an amazing professor. He gives great, clear feedback and his lectures are easy to understand and interesting. His workload is a bit on the heavy side, especially the essays but he gives a lot of work time outside and in the classroom. Overall, I recommend you take his class!
Salcedo is a critical piece of work. He is unopen to new writing styles and doesnt appreciate creativity. He made me feel like straight garbage!! He made me cry every time I left his room and never had anything nice to say. He made it extremely clear to not only me but my whole in person class that he didnt like me. 100% wouldnt take again.
I have never enjoyed an English class before taking him. He doesn't give superfluous assignments. The assignments require effort, but his input makes it worth while. He genuinely enjoys reading your assignments, so don't fake it. 10/10 would take again.
Jason's classes are so fun to attend and he's a very clever, witty guy. It's clear that he really wants the best for each and every one of his students. He gives clear feedback and it felt like my writing improved a lot throughout the quarter.
Jason gives really good feedback on writing assignments and let’s you retake most assignments so you can get a better score. Decent amount of quiz’s and homework but nothing extreme, only 3 essays in eng101 that are fairly easy. I would take his class again.
I would definitely recommend taking his class. He accepts late work, responds to messages very quickly, and allows revisions on essays(which are a very large portion of your grade). His lectures were also very interesting, and you can tell he cares about his students
Salcedo doesn’t assign very much homework, and also accepts late work. He can be a tough grader, but he allows revisions on essays which is very helpful. Also gives opportunities for extra credit. His lectures were interesting, and I learned a lot!
Salcedo is my favorite Professor by far. The time and effort he puts into making his students better writers is evident is his helpful feedback on essays. He encourages creative and critical thinking, and his writing project prompts were not boring at all.
He is a caring teacher who cares about every student. He goes around to everyone in the class to make sure everyone is understanding the assignment. I love him he is super funny and lets everyone redo assignments for full credit.
Super nice guy that really helped improve my writing. Very understanding and accomodating to students. Would totally recommend. He's a tough grader but gives you chances to revise your essays.
I really enjoyed this class. We had 3 papers to do over the quarter and there was opportunities to re write your paper if you did not like your grade. He worked with students individually during class if you needed help with anything. He also was just overall very nice and friendly. He would make jokes trying to relate to us younger kids.
This class was so fun to take and I never dreaded coming to class. He is very lenient with grades and give you opportunities to raise your grade. There aren't that many assignments he gives out and gives class time to work on it and also get feedback on. He is very helpful and give you praise when you are learning new things.
Such a great professor. Was incredibly nervous throughout the semester about how well my work was, and every time he was able to help me improve my writing. He was super funny and only assigned three essays. Throughout the essays, there would be small assignments, but they were all helpful and even fun to do. Lots of freedom in your writing as well
Before taking the class, I had minimal knowledge of mythology and mythological figures, but this class helped me better understand it. Professor Salcedo was amazing because I could tell from how he spoke and gestured that he genuinely enjoyed the material and teaching, which helped me engage and learn a lot. I highly recommend you take this class!!
Very tough grader, but lets you redo assignments. Provides so much feedback through the whole essay, which some people saw as unnecessary nitpicking but I really appreciated. Sometimes contradictory in feedback. He appreciates hard work and if you try hard you'll do well! Not a class if you want to slack off though. Definitely required great effort
if you want an easy A I'd recommend someone else but if you are pursuing writing as a career his feedback is gold.
His teaching method is very good. Expect to participate in class discussions, and show up to class. Very friendly, informative, and fair. I highly recommend him as a professor.
Professor Salcedo can at times feel less like a professor and more like a very passionate friend or family member sharing what they love most, and I mean this in the most positive way possible. The class wasn't particularly difficult yet was incredibly informative and allowed students to explore what they are most interested in. 10/10.
Incredibly understanding and gives great feedback.
High school students will find the papers very difficult since this class dismisses a lot of the writing formats and techniques used at a high school standard. There are 2 rewrites out of 3 papers available towards the end of the quarter, and your grade is reflected in how well you did these assignments. Awesome teacher with meaningful commentary.
Professor Salcedo is a great teacher. He gives really good feedback on all assignments. He replies to emails or comments promptly. He is respectful and kind.
Professor Salcedo is the best teacher I have ever had in the English department. I have always struggled with my writing abilities; he helped me learn how to write and apply it to three unique essay topics. If you're looking for an easy A, this class is not for you. But if you want to learn how to write, I recommend you take his class.
this was probably my favorite class that i have ever taken at SPSCC.
He was a really fun teacher and i would 100% take again.
Super great teacher if you get a chance to take his class DO IT.
He is a great teacher he is super nice and gives the best feedback! I recommend him for everyone
The professor is engaging and makes the class enjoyable. Assignments are graded fairly, and opportunities for revisions and extra credit help offset the workload. unstuck AI was a great study tool alongside the free textbook. Highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their writing skills.
Professor Salcedo after 26 years of teaching, is current with the times, relating and meeting students where they are. Believing in quality over quantity, there are only three major essays. All of which evolve with the course's complexity. Offering substantial help and guidance, but allows students to learn at their own pace. There's no one better.
Prof. Salcedo is just a really good professor and person. He's a little awkward when he first meets the class, but give him a few days and he warms up, and he's really comical and fun to listen to. He's very engaging with class assignments, really understanding, gives good feedback, and very lenient with schedules.
Amazing professor that clearly cares about teaching and making the class fun and enjoyable. Class was mostly graded upon three essays with work during the week leading up to each essay. In person classes were spent developing skills or working with peers or the professor.
I must say, he is the best professor I have ever had. His FILM117 class is light but invokes a lot of analytical thinking. Expect to watch a movie, take two quizzes about it, write a short paragraph, and participate in a discussion board once a week. Took me 2-3 hours on average when it came to workload. Amazing prof and fully recommend.
I have taken multiple classes with Jason Salcedo and have loved them all! He is a really kind person who cares about the success of this students. His lectures are pretty involved and always exciting. He is by far one of my favorite professors at SPSCC!
Jason is the first English Educator I have been under that makes me genuinely enjoy English. Is definitely a bit more critical of things, but if you choose to meet with him and get feedback, you can get an A. An enjoyable person to talk to, and has a want to make students stronger writers.
Definitly take this class. Jason is a fantastic teacher and person, he cares about success and his students. Jason makes everyone feel welcome and heard, I do not get bored during his class, and ive taken back to back classes with him, 0 regrets.
Professor Salcedo is one of the best educators you can find at SPSCC. His passion for teaching and genuine care for his students' well being is admirable. English is not everyone's cup of tea, but he definitely makes it bearable. If you're a Veteran and need that extra patience, take his classes. He assigns a practicable workload and fair grading.
This course was challenging at times, but he's very experienced, transparent, flexible with coursework/grading, and always understanding of student needs. He also has a great sense of humor, provides great feedback, and assigns interesting research topics. Enjoy your time in his class, but always give him 100+% and he will always reciprocate.
Great experience in this class, Jason is very knowledgeable and passionate about his teaching. He gives good feedback gives much opportunity to get a good grade. Highly recommend taking any course from him.
