Get ready to write!
He's pretty cool lol. don't hesitate.
Very straight forward. Gives you opportunities to receive extra credit. A lot of reading and using the textbook in your assignments.
Super cool and lenient.
Great teacher and cares about his students! Makes teaching exciting and helps students to receive A's on assignments by giving us feedback and letting us make revisions and corrections so we can receive full credit. Mr. Sampson also gives you extra credit opportunities and you will enjoy this class!! 10/10 recommend.
Funny and great teacher
Dr. Sampson brings a freshness in his teaching to the stale and oppressive history of America. Be prepared for a daily inundation of "dad' jokes. For they are endless. The course is largely taught by oneself through chapter and primary source readings and Crash Course videos, culminating in a weekly discussion in class or on Canvas.
Professor Sampson, has a great teaching methodology. I gained a great insight regarding the past. Although I have never been a history lover, it was very educational for me.
Very outgoing and honest. He tells it like it is, but he adds a lot of humor to ease the class.
He provided too much details about the assignments.
Professor Sampson, is an awesome instructor. The class assignments and learning material presented made the class very interesting for me and I am not a history lover. I would highly recommend him to any student that has to take a history class.
More of a reading/writing class than a history class. Every assignment can be submitted for a better grade and there are plenty of extra credit opportunities.
professor Jason Sampson is a great teacher who explains things clearly and made learning fun and helped me a lot!
This is my second history class taken with Professor Sampson and he's truly an amazing teacher. He provides great feedback and is very lenient with late work. All of the test answers come from the textbook chapters and videos that he provides. I definitely would recommend him to anyone having to take any history course!
Professor Sampson is awesome, nailing the balance between efficiency and thoroughness in explaining complex concepts. His course materials are super organized and cover everything you need. Bottom line, Professor Sampson rocks at making asynchronous learning a great experience!
I learned a lot in this class. As long as you keep up with the work, read the required materials you will be fine. There is weekly writings - but he gives great feedback and allows you to fix your mistakes.
You'll be writing a lot. Lots of busy work but it keeps you engaged with the course.
Jason Sampson is an excellent professor! For it being an asynchronous class, it is very structured and I was able to find a great routine for it. The assignments are easy and straightforward, just make sure you read over everything, as it helps you in the long run. Gives out several extra credit opportunities, which you should make sure to do!
Great professor and assignments are forward and easy.
Fantastic professor, very understanding and gives you plenty of extra credit opportunities. Homework is light but effective, and very self-paced. Would definitely recommend.
I think this was a great class, very informative and i enjoyed taking this class.
Mr. Sampson went above and beyond to ensure his students understood his writing workshops. He met via Zoom to answer my questions about the writing workshops. He also had a class Zoom to touch base about the first Primary Source Paper. He wants you to do well in his class and to enjoy learning about history.
Great professor great feedback always give extra credit
Great class, I felt that it was very informative. Be prepared for a lot of writing assignments!
The goal of this class is to put history in context and cross-reference with current events. The class is source heavy. Be prepared to reference and justify everything you contribute with source material.
Professor Sampson has an excellent course plan for this online class. His assignments were not necessarily difficult, but they were very writing intensive. From his announcements, it seems he has a great sense of humor, so I'm kind of upset it wasn't a Zoom class! I highly recommend taking this course through Professor Sampson!!!
Professor Sampson is a great teacher! Be sure to read the rubrics for assignments as the grading can feel tough, but it is fair. The class can feel challenging with heavy reading and writing at times. However, he gives you every opportunity to succeed if you are willing to apply yourself, learn and grow from your mistakes. I learned a ton! 10/10
Overall, this was an amazing class. Professor Sampson was great, attentive, and always gave us feedback with good explanations of what we needed to do. The extra credit was very helpful. Also, make sure to read all the instructions before starting an assignment.
Alot of reading and writing, you should be ready to write for almost every assignment. Professor Sampson is very good at going into detail about what he wants done.
He is very understanding and laid back as long as you truly are putting your best foot forward and being honest. Each assignment has very clear instructions and he answers pretty fast if you have any questions. Each assignment also stays on topic and is informative.
Professor Jason Sampson is incredibly attentive and dedicated. He has provided me with a tremendous amount of help throughout this course. If given the chance, I would definitely take his class again.
Professor Jason Sampson provides very detailed and thoughtful feedback on your assignments. He is attentive, thorough, and also very fun! If given the chance, I would definitely take his class again.
Professor Sampson was an awesome professor. He had clear guidelines for work and gave multiple attempts on work.
Class is heavy on writing and reading but mangable. He's willing to help and communicates and gives extra credit.
There is lots of writing but the class is manageable; quizzes are very straightforward from the textbook, so stay on track with reading and work to not be behind.
This class is straightforward with the work. He has lots of writing assignments, but the goals are clear cut and easy to meet the criteria as he also reviews and gives feedback on the assignments. Ensure to read the textbook as all the work is straight out of the book. Overall, great teacher.
Jason Sampson has been a good History teacher. He is willing to help and work with you if you have late assignments or any questions.
This class is really straightforward and easy to get an A if you stay on top of your work. He is awesome at getting back to you about any questions you have. You also can re-due almost all of your assignments and he even gives extensions if needed. Take him if you love history and are looking for a smooth semester.
I enjoyed this class because it was easy to understand since it was broken into modules. You were able to complete work at your own pace and resubmit assignments if necessary! Feedback was almost always provided on assignments.
Difficult to complete assignments on time
Very good professor, easy to access and gives extension if you need it.
Very enjoyable, funny, and understanding! Plenty of time to do assignments and felt better about the class knowing the professor was aware that life happens in case of needing extra time on assignments.
I enjoyed taking this class and learning. This teacher gives you lots of feedback and extra credit. He is willing to give you extra time on assignments.
Professor Sampson is wonderful, attendance is counted through doing your online course work which is important! I loved taking this course I learned a lot and he offers multiple chances to re do assignments.
Super lenient that cares alot and makes sure you get the best grade possible.
Well to start off, he has a good sense of humor. Plus, he gave great feedback that I found to be helpful when completing assignments.
Well to start off, he has a good sense of humor. Plus, he gave great feedback that I found to be helpful when completing assignments.
All of the assignments were laid out clearly. He responded very quickly and was a huge help whenever I needed him. Very supportive in all of his messages.
This professor was honestly really sweet however you are going to be doing a lot of reading which I am not a big fan of. My class was completely online so he was very lenient about late work. You will only have at max about three assignments per week which was really nice. Though he is really good at getting right back with feed back on anything.
I have enjoyed taking Professor Sampsons class and learning about history before our time and how the world came to be.
over all this was a great semester and the professor did the best he could. I recommend him for all the students who want to take any history class.
he was a great profeccer who responded to emails very quickly and gave students oppertunities to show thier creative side. he also included videos from Crash Couse which allowed visial and aditorial learners to enjoy the class more. id 100% take another class of his. oh and he doesnt penilize for late work.
The professor assigns a lot of reading, videos and primary sources to review for one week especially when you're not taking one class at a time.
Read all the primary sources.
He is a very efficient grader and grades quickly and gives great feedback. He also has a reading heavy class so be prepared for that. I like the amount of work and projects and that it's asynchronous.
Good class overall. You have to read a ridiculous amount if you take it in a 7 or 10 week period. Assignments aren't too time consuming as long as you read the extremely time consuming material.
He is very helpful if you need anything! And gets grades in quickly!
I took Dr. Sampson over for 122 over a condensed summer term. He was extremely lenient on late-work, though I would recommend staying on schedule. There is a lot of reading and writing, mostly through discussion board posts and replies. He offers revisions and provides timely feedback. I would recommend.
Overall this was an amazing semester, I really enjoyed it and the professor was amazing he did the best he could and I learned alot.
everything was good
Announcements posted every week with what is to be expected ahead of time. A lot of reading for modules but enough opportunities with extra credit opportunities if needed. Overall good class but be expected to read.
Good prof leneint with due dates would take again
He's great, you do not want to overlook this guy. He's down to earth
Horrible teacher, does not grade well
Manageable workload if you stay on top of the readings. Leveraging unstuckstudy ai and other resources like Crash Course videos helped me maximize my learning. The professor is engaging and provides helpful feedback. Overall, a solid class worth taking.
Great instructor. Always available to clarify students' doubts and very entertaining. He presents an extraordinary knowledge of the subjects he teaches.
He is a chill professor. Has a good late work policy.
Professor Sampson is a great professor who makes it extremely easy to succeed in his class. He has an extremely lenient late work policy, as well as being great at describing material and making it interesting to learn. I would recommend that everyone take Professor Sampson for History.
He is a great professor with an extremely lenient late work policy, and I would recommend everyone take professor Sampson for history.
Jason was hilarious throughout the entirety class, always making quips to go with information. He always stated class with a joke and asked others to participate. While the class was lecture heavy, he has a clear passion for the material and made it really interesting.
Dr Jason Sampson is a great professor. He makes funny jokes and very laid back. I would enjoy taking his class again.
Dr Jason Sampson is a great professor. I very much enjoyed his class and hope I can have another class with him.
Super funny while lecturing, which makes you want to come to class.
he's really nice and he makes a lot of funny jokes and he know a lot about history personally one of my favorite history teachers
He's funny and just a good professor all around.
I love how he is so in touch with the students, class was never boring with him. He was always entertaining and kept me interested when I was there. He was very funny and a very good teacher, to be honest probably the shortest but best history class I have ever been in. Just wish it could be longer I learned more in 6 weeks with him than I did ever
Dr. Sampson is a cool laid back professor who gives dad jokes at the start of class. He doesn't do slides with words, he likes to write stuff on the board and as he is lecturing, it is expected that you would know what to write down. He has a crush on Henry Clay. He relates Andrew Jackson to Donald Trump due to similarities.
A very fair teacher! He gives ample opportunity for Extra credit and unlimited revisions to assignments to improve grade. There is quite a bit of reading and writing but the revisions and feedback he gives on each assignment allow you to do well if you put in the work. I wouldn't say his class is easy but you will be rewarded for effort.
In class we lecture on powerpoints but the powerpoint are not posted onto the canvas course. He is a good lecturer, and is easy to understand and learn from.
The class is mostly just discussion boards and quizzes.
He is an awesome professor who gives ample time to complete the coursework and as many revisions as needed. Be prepared for his amazing lectures and dad jokes!
HE IS AMAZING!!! I would recommend this class to anyone that needs a to take history! I am also taking him for 122 he is just that amazing. You do need a textbook that helps with the discussions, he also provides other recourses that you can use as well. His late work policy is also super lenient so this would be a plus for many.
I have taken both HIS 121 and 122 with Jason, and I can confidently say he is AWESOME! You can truly tell he cares for the subject. Both his online and in-person classes follow the same outline and assignments. His class is fairly easy as he allows for resubmissions and gives amazing feedback with exactly what you need to do to get full points.
One of best and cooperative teacher. If you ask for extension he would give extension for homework. I would recommend him.
I have taken two of Prof. Sampson's classes now and all I can say is that he has been one of my favorite professors by far. His enthusiasm for the class and his overall positivity really made a difference. Also very fair when it comes to grading and provides clear feedback! Would recommend!!! :)
Dr. Sampson is awesome, he's very enthusiastic about history and I left with more knowledge than I came in with. Very lenient about late work and has a LOT of extra credit opportunities. Be prepared for lots of dad jokes!!!
Mr. Sampson was a very enthusiastic teacher who showed a great knowledge of history. His lectures were the highlight of the class and he was always willing to give feedback on assignments. He offered a lot of chances for extra credit and was a very understanding and fun teacher.
Professor Sampson was great! I actually learned a lot from his class even though I took it completely online. He was pretty laid back if the assignment was done properly and gave good feedback. My online con was sometimes the assignments were so wordy that it almost made it overcomplicated because it was over explained.
Doctor Sampson is great! I would have loved to taken an in-person class as I can tell his quick wit and humour. Professors as these make the class memomarable and fun.
He's a very understanding and honest professor.
He is a good professor but he grades harshly.
He was a good professor but a harsh grader.
He was a very good teacher, he gave great feedback on every assignment. Plus he has a great sense of humor which made class go by faster, and also helped me soak the information in better.
He is a really good teacher I really enjoyed listening and learning history from him The only thing I didn't like is he is a little hard on greading
He was very euthanistic and a great professor. He is understanding and always willing to work with you. Additionally, he leaves helpful and in-depth feedback on assignments
Always offering extra credit and giving chances even when your grade is low assignments are creative and straightforward
This class was really great because of him. it was online so there weren't lectures in person, but he was very responsive and made sure everyone was able to get their work done. If you stay on top of your assignments, you would do perfectly fine
He was a really great professor for this class and made it so much easier. he is very accessible and basically gives you all the chances in the world to do well in the class. As long as you stay on top of your work you will do just fine. just make sure you stay ahead
***Online Course Review*** The professor is reasonable and lenient with assignments, however, that does not mean be lazy. This course is heavy on comprehension and application of main idea of weekly chapter readings and current event articles. That being said, this class is enjoyable and provides plenty of opportunity to gain real-life insight.
He good some good jokes be ready for them.
Honestly, one of the best teachers I'm not really good at doing my work but if I miss an assignment, he gives me time to make up for it.
Prof. Sampson is the best professor I've had! He truly is amazing! Be prepare to read your textbooks. He gives extra credit opportunities and also gives every student the change to earn an A on his class. I would of loved to have him for an in-person class. I wish there were more professors like him. Would definitely recommend!!!
Professor Sampson is an excellent instructor who makes learning stress-free. His lectures are informative but also humorous, keeping the class engaged. He is very lenient when it comes to late work. Overall, Professor Sampson creates a supportive and welcoming environment for his students. I highly recommend taking his class!
Do stress this class. This professor is very easy to talk to. You will not fail as long as you stay on top of assignments!
HE IS AMAZING, easiest professor ever.
"Professor Jason Sampson made history class straightforward and easy to grasp. He's very comprehensive and always takes the time to ensure students understand the material. Highly recommend his class!"
Mr. Sampson was extremely thorough in his teaching . Great class. The text book for the class was easy to access, and there was no code necessary which is great for student who are on a budget
The professor is heavy on discussion boards, so be prepared to write! But the professor is really easy going and if you tell him what you are having difficulty on then he does not mind schedule a zoom meeting with you to explain it. Please take advantage of the extra credit assignments and correcting your work when given a chance to fix it.
I really enjoyed taking his class! He has a great sense of humor and does an excellent job of connecting historical lessons to current events.
Overall an easy class
Mr. Sampson is a great teacher! He is very funny and really cares that you not just learn the material but understand it as well. He is also very lenient on late work! Would definitely take his class again!
Dr. Jason Sampson is incredibly passionate about the subject and goes above and beyond to help his students. I've already enrolled in another of his classes for next year because I've learned so much from this year's class. I'm excited to learn more under his direction and strongly recommend his courses to anyone.
This professor is pretty straightforward and explained the material clearly and was approachable if you had questions. The workload was manageable, and the assignments helped reinforce the lesson. Overall, a decent experience, but nothing extraordinary,
He is very passionate about the subject and is good at making it interesting. He is also very funny. Would definitely take his class again and I really recommend.
This class was pretty straightforward. The teacher explained the material clearly and was approachable if you had questions. The workload was manageable, and the assignments helped reinforce the lesson. Overall, a decent experience, but not extraordinary.
I loved Dr. Sampson and his class!! He is very lenient on late work,&gives you feedback on your papers so you can fix them and get a higher grade. He's really funny & he makes history very interesting and fun. I loved how he taught the material! You will have to do some reading&writing but it's really not that bad.TONS of extra credit assignments.
He's cool, but do be warned about the bad jokes
This class is awesome if you are hoping to learn a lot about history and have fun while doing it. Professor Jason Sampson is an awesome professor, and I would 1000% take his class again.
I really enjoyed his class. If you never want to be bored in a history class then I would highly recommend Professor Sampson. I did not find his work to be overly difficult. Plus he will always let you improve a grade if you want.
Really nice professor, flexibility with assignments, the tests had the information seen on class.
Some assignments time consuming with reading material and research, but grades fairly and gives good directions.
Make sure to do plenty of research and reading before you submit anything, follow directions in assignments, and participate in class discussions. Grades fair, course topics are interesting.
Jason is extremely charismatic and helpful. He starts each class with a joke and makes it fun to learn about boring parts of history.
Make sure to pay attention in class. Write down personal notes.
Very entertaining and his style of teaching the material for the course helped keep me focus and made me excited for his class.
Really nice professor, was very lenient with late work. I really enjoyed his class
Honestly a great teacher, clearly shows he loves history, gave great feedback, plenty of EC, and very nice in general.
He's a great professor that provided good feedback and the course as a whole (HIS121) was pretty easy, but has lots of reading.
good lectures and discussions
He is really good and respectful, he appreciates our times and understanding our hard work to be able to do our tasks
He is really good, respectful, and so helpful
I took Professor Sampson's seven-week online class; it was a great experience. He replies to messages promptly and makes sure to reach out to the class to give weekly deadline reminders. His instructions on work are always clear, and he gives us a lot of time to finish the assignments. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking his class!
Prof Sampson is fair and gives clear expectations on assignments will be graded. I was clear on what could have improved the quality of my work based on the feedback given for each assignment.
Overall great professor, just make sure you have enough time for the assignments, as some can take a while.
This professor is just awesome. He has a very nice humor. Very light teacher. Would definitely recommend!
Amazing professor, if you are up for reading textbook material and using that for your work then Professor Sampson will be a great pick for you. He is good with communication and understanding.
This was my 2nd time taking Professor Sampson's class and I have received nothing but positivity coming from him. Hes a great teacher.
He's a great professor, but some of the assignments can take a long time, so be sure to allow extra time for them.
Not a difficult course with not many assignments. Consistent and clear assignments.
About 5 extra credit opportunities, no penalty for late work
He is nice but he give a lot hard works.
This professor is great! Although the class was asynchronous, his witty banter still added life to the assignments. Although I'm not the biggest fan of writing, I learned more about writing in this class than in any English class I've taken. I also enjoyed it!
He's funny and keeps class entertaing
He was chill. Just read and you're good
amazing teacher
Seems like he really enjoys teaching and the subject matter, and uses lectures to build on and answer questions beyond what's covered in the text. Expectations for assignments were straight forward and clearly communicated, with several extra credit opportunities. He provides great feedback on writing assignments with opportunities for revisions.
Was an amazing and funny gut. I could tell he really liked teaching and history!
Dr. Sampson is the best History Professor I have ever had. 10/10
If you need to take history, this is the right professor! The workload isn't bad at all—there are a maximum of 3 assignments every week. Yes, you will have to write papers(2). It is an easy class, but I wouldn't recommend falling behind, it will get you. The lectures are funny with the obvious joke, but he's a great guy and teacher..
If you would like an assuage form of learning and someone who would ensure your success, this is your guy. Also a lot of dad jokes.
I had him for history, and he's an awesome teacher. He explains things very well and makes learning the material fun. He isn't a tough grader at all, he lets you have revisions on everything, but the final exam. There are only about two papers for this class, and they're not really hard; he gives you workshops on how to write them.
There is nothing inherently bad about Sampson's teaching, but the course is straight textbook reading! I just don't personally absorb information great from textbook reading versus recorded lectures for example.
Very cool guy! Kind of upset I hadn't taken his class in person, he seems to be engaging and fun. No lectures, only reading and provided crash course videos. Instructs with clarity, gives detailed rubrics, and provides nice feedback. 3 papers, offered rewrites for all. Retakes for all quizzes, not exams. Easy A :)))
Professor Sampson was easily the best professor that I've had thus far. He is super prepared and is so excited to teach history which made me excited to learn. This class is very easy to get an A in as long as you do the assignments and extra credit. For homework you usually have 1 or 2 assignments on top of the required reading.
Great professor. Classing were interesting, likes to tell jokes before class starts. Very engaging.
Professor Sampson was great. He makes a lot of jokes and you can tell he loves to teach. The course revolves around attendance, essay writing and he is generous with extra credit assignments!
He is a really good teacher and whenever I wasn't able to join in for the zoom or assist the class in person I would ask on a discussion board he provides any questions I had and he would reply back fast. I loved how this was a Hyflex class meaning you could join by zoom, go in person to class or just get your work done on time, on your own time.
he curses way too much but i do like him he's nice. but he cusses too much and made a comment saying women are evil which was very rude. he didn't follow through my accommodations at all. my accommodations are very clear by law college professors are required to provide certain supports and services to students who have a learning disability
Professor Sampson is a teacher that really wants his students to succeed and his class policies and structure gives students more than enough opportunities to do that. His feedback is constructive and helpful and he gives students multiple opportunities to improve their work on assignments. I would absolutely recommend Professor Sampson!
His lectures were always interesting and often fun, and the homework was never too difficult with plenty of revision opportunities if you did it on time. However, he will be very open about his political opinions on current events in class, and he will curse/use profanity fairly frequently. If you can handle that, you'll have fun and do well.
Dr. Sampson was very enthusiastic about the material and provided lots of extra credit. It's very easy to get a good grade if you just do the work. He also gave clear instructions and good resources to use for assignments. He is very kind, responsive, and knowledgeable. Lots of reading, but overall an easy, enjoyable course. Highly recommend!!!
If someone wants to learn about History, then you wanna be in Professor Sampson's class. He is one of the best professors I have ever had. Just FYI, be ready for those jokes at the beginning of every class.
He is great at giving you back feedback and letting you resubmit assignments! Would highly recommend taking again!
great prof
Awesome teacher who cares about students and teaching history!
Get ready to read! Not at the fault of Professor Sampson, just history itself. However, he makes the class, content, and learning fun.
Make sure to read the text and take notes, the questions that are on the quizes will show up on the final, open note/open text but all the quizes and tests are timed.
Dr. Sampson is a very chill guy. Make sure to do your work and show up to class however or your grade will suffer. His delivery made the class very enjoyable. He was also caring and a reasonable person. I would take him again any day.
This professor was awesome!!! I would recommend all professors to have his mindset so that you can really learn.
Warning: Lots of dad jokes. The late work policy is actually pretty chill. Over all, he's a really nice guy.
He's really easy to work with, very flexible, has a very light late work policy, and he always gives good feedback
Professor Sampson was one of my top favorite professors in the entirety of my college career. He's makes a lot of jokes and keeps things simple and easy to understand, especially for the material being covered! He's incredible at giving feedback, and will often reach out if you have missed any assignment. I highly recommend him for a professor!
Exceptional professor, really enjoyed his class, always fun. Reasonable and pragmatic with due dates, his priority is for you to learn and succeed. Could have a less comically woke textbook. Bleeding heart California liberal and he unapologetically lets you know it. But you gotta love him for it :-) Highly recommend Professor Sampson
Professor Sampson was an awesome dude. and I learned a lot during his class. He gave out tons of extra credit, which could help someone bring up their grade if they were in a bind. Plus, he always gave due dates, but he was pretty chill with you being able to turn things in late for full credit. The only downside to that is you won't get feedback.
Best college professor I've had, I would take him again no question.
Professor grades fast and fairly. Checks on your progress often and provides advice on how to successfully pass the class. Responds to messages in a timely manner and makes announcements often to help keep the schedule one track.
This Professor is AMAZING! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL STUDENTS!!!!!!
Overall great guy and made learning history fun. I went to classes in person and thought I got something out of each one. He doesn't grade super hard and is a super easy guy to approach about questions with the class or material.
He is pretty good at grading fast. only a check in every week that's pretty easy. Post what he looks for in the writing.
Mr. Sampson has a strong ability to convey material clearly and effectively. His teaching style is straightforward, and he takes the time to break down complex concepts into manageable parts. He uses real-life examples to make the material more relatable and ensures that students have a solid understanding before moving on to the next topic.
Professor Sampson has been the best I have had yet within my two semesters here. He was very silly cracking his dad jokes and cared for his students and their success. I took his 7 week class and I hope to see him again throughout the rest of my semesters. I 100% recommend his classes. He makes them very easy and offers a ton of extra credit!!
awesome! id totally take his class again!
He was great
Mr. Sampson is generally quite carefree in a way that makes him not a bore to listen to. He opens every class with a brief time to just tell any jokes he or his students may have on their minds. He's willing to give feedback on assignments if turned in before the due date, encouraging getting work done not only on time but ahead of it.
Professor Sampson is very professional. His class is not hard, just follow his weekly module post, lots of reading, and some history topical writing, but it is amazing. He graded the assignment and gave feedback.
Super funny and super cool! Get ready for the dad jokes.
i enjoyed his class. He was professional about what he wanted from the class, but he wasn't on us too much. I really enjoyed him as my professor this semester. i would take his class again. It was a pretty easy semester.
Professor Sampson was without a doubt the best history teacher I've ever had in my life. His lectures are engaging, and he simplifies everything in such a way that it's easy to understand and relay back to others with a thorough comprehension. I highly recommend his classes.
He is a very good professor who teaches in a very light and fun way.
Sampson, though is tough with grading, is a pretty nice guy and you shouldn't be worried or scared of having him, just do your work and you'll be fine!
Professor Sampson has a sense of humor, I enjoy the time being in his class. But if you're planning to take a 7-week course, be prepared that you'll need to put in a lot of time outside of class to read the book and do assignments. You will have one research paper and one project for this course. Time flies fast in the 7-week course, so good luck!
One more thing I want to say about the professor is that he is hilarious, and I enjoy being in his class. The 7-week course flies by really fast, so be prepared for a lot of extra time outside of class to do the work if you're planning to take it in 7 weeks. Keep up with the work and you'll be fine. Good luck!
Sampson is, in my opinion, one of the best history professors you could ask for. He's funny and injects that humor into his interactions with his students. As long as you do the work, you'll be fine, especially since he gives feedback on assignments completed before the due date.
Mr.Sampson is the most hilarious teacher and would recommend him to anyone taking history, he made it seamless and I actually wanted to go to class and sit and actually attend.
If you are someone that struggles with keeping up, or you are easily falling behind. Mr. Sampson is genuinely a life saver. Not only does he kindly provide very easy extra credit, but he also offer opportunities to turn in late work, for little to no credit taken off.
Professor Sampson is a passionate and knowledgeable historian who teaches HIST 121 and 122 with enthusiasm. He fosters a welcoming, engaging classroom atmosphere and interacts with students in a friendly, conversational way. I would highly recommend you to take his class. 10/10
Definitely of the best professors at this entire school. Very personable and great at what he does. His assignments and lectures are very interesting and he knows how to keep students engaged. You can tell he loves his job
He is a great teacher.
Very helpful and really good with answering questions and helping students get the best possible grade
Professor Sampson is one of the best instructors I've had. History isn't a subject I usually enjoy, but he made it engaging and easy to understand. Even in a fast-paced 7-week class, his teaching was clear. If you're honest and put in effort, he'll help you succeed. Highly recommend!
I took the 10-week online class option for the summer. The work wasn't hard, but you don't have as much time as you would in the Spring and Fall so keep that in mind. This professor is very understanding and helpful. Not mean or strict on time. I'd choose him again.
Wonderful history teacher who I have taken 2 of his classes and I would take more. Grades in a timely manner, organized, and knows his history.
Professor Sampson is one of the best instructors that I have ever had! I took his class asynchronously, but he still made the learning experience engaging and personal. He uses a variety of teaching methods- visuals, examples, and practical explanations to support different learning styles. He is organized and tech savy! 10/10 recommend
Overall great professor, very lenient with late work (or at least for my course because it was asynchronous). He sets his expectations very early on and they're easy to follow. There is a bit of reading, but his tests and papers align well with what you read. Compared to other professors I've had at this school, he is in my top 3.
He's a great professor, but when you are in your 60's trying to write so many papers it can become overwhelming, but I did it.
You can tell he is passionate about history! Although this was an online course, I have retained so much information! He is a very fair teacher, grades quickly, and answers any question you may have within 24 hours. Reading load was pretty heavy at some points but as long as you stay on track you will be fine!
J. Sampson is a VERY easy professor. Assignments are very easy, but does require reading. Overall, a VERY easy A!
I enjoyed Mr. Sampson. He was fair and willing to help when you needed it. He allows you to go back and complete what you missed to earn all your points.
I recommend taking his class! He does not penalize you for late work, he always responds to emails quickly and is always willing to help his students. He is one of the most understanding professors I have had so far. If you put in the work, you will get a good grade.
He is a great teacher and is very lenient about late work. The discussion posts are easy and not too many major projects. The final exam is multiple choice and an essay section. The material is easy and you should pass the class. He also gives extra credit opportunities as well which is a big thing if your grade is low. I suggest taking this class!
Take this class! Take this class! Summer Session, 100% Online. Everything you need is easy to find in the course - Just LOOK for it, WELL organized! Textbook, get on Amazon/Kindle so you can search. 1 BIG project. Weekly: MC-quiz (easy) & check-in (writing), few DQ replies. I took this class because of the reviews here & it was GREAT!
Very straightforward class with a well-organized canvas page. Rubrics were very easy to follow as well! Super doable even if you aren't particularly interested in this era of history.
He's a dog this is my 2nd time having him, and he's the best professor I've had at Reynolds, he actually teaches, and his class is made easy because of him.
Professor Sampson was a great professor. He is clear in his communication and updates announcements often which is VERY helpful. He's personable and supportive. 10/10 Recommend. I work full time so balancing this course in the summer was a challenge but it's not impossible.
Mr. Sampson was a good History Teacher, and he gave precise instructions.
Mr. Sampson was a good Professor, and he gave precise instructions.
I took his class during the summer. I honestly wish I would have taken it for a full semester. The professor was extremely knowledgeable and passionate. I loved the videos and readings. But I am a history nerd, so take that as may. There were plenty of opportunities for extra credit. And he was always very responsive and available.
Super chill, assignments aren't too difficult, and he is always willing to help.
Professor Sampson is an amazing professor. He is clear about his expectations and his goal is that everyone learns the material. He does expect you to use and cite sources and will deduct points if not done correctly but he gives unlimited attempts in his online class to submit work. He's caring and flexible with due dates and super funny!
The professor is very consistent when it comes to homework. Monday's are quizzes and Friday's are check in's so it's very easy to prepare for assignments. I also enjoyed slowly working on our final paper throughout the semester and getting feedback on it
I had a great time in this class. Professor Sampson was fun and entertaining each week. I would recommend him to anyone needing a history class. This was a virtual class so the teaching style was mostly textbook reading and discussion boards but he was able to make it interesting.
Professor Sampson was a great teacher, and I learned a lot about American history from him. He always provided good feedback on the subject matter and included primary sources and videos to help in the teaching process. He always made sure that students were making progress on their research papers to reduce procrastination.
Professor Sampson was well knowledge in history and made this course extremely interesting. I loved how he made the major project have a weekly check in. This made the project so much easier. This course is set up so you cannot fail. I HIGHLY recommend.
I took his class online without any zoom meetings, but I still felt like I was taught every aspect of the course material very thoroughly. He clearly has a very strong understanding of not only the history of the past but current events as well and how everything connects. He makes sure the class is enjoyable for everyone. Highly recommend.
Professor Sampson is a good professor. I took his 7-week canvas course, and it went well. There was a decent amount of work, but he gives you the whole 7 weeks to finish it. He also offers a lot of extra credit. If you're looking for an easy A, I recommend you take this course.
just wacth out be mindful of time dont take too much classes
Dr. Jason Sampson was a very helpful professor. There were many opportunities for simple extra credit. Each week, there were discussion posts due, which led up to a paper with very clear guidelines. The paper was then turned into a presentation, which was very easy to complete and quickly graded. I would love to take his class again.
great guy and better professor. Amazing jokes toor
Professor Sampson was a great professor. I took his only History 121 course. He accepted all late work with full credit up to 5 days before the semester ended. He does more than throw the textbook at you. He breaks down the meaning of each module, and encourages critical thinking. He is responsive, kind, and very knowledgable!
Professor sampson is one of the best professors I have had in my college career. Very understanding and wants you to succeed. 10/10 would recommend.
I took Prof. Sampson's history class online, and honestly, it was great. He breaks things down so clearly and simply that you never feel lost, just genuinely interested. He provides a variety of materials for each module, and his lectures are always engaging. If you're thinking about taking his class, do it. You'll learn a lot and enjoy it.
Everything in the class is basically from the textbook! While it contains a lot of reading and studying the videos, you're able to really plan what to do and get ahead in the online class. Professor Sampson is also incredible when it comes to communication and feedback, along with being one of the nicest professors out there.
This professor teaching styles allows you to understand the history the way it makes sense to you.
You mainly have to just keep up with the chapter readings for this class. While it's very text-heavy, the assignments also guide you on information to focus on, such as the discussion questions in the check-in. Very easy online class. Professor Sampson also gives great feedback for projects too!
Professor Sampson, was awesome. His solid teaching style allowed me to dig deeper into past events in U.S. history. I gained a better understanding of how the past shaped the future. Most importantly, it opened my eyes to who actually did the work.. the often overlooked people whose labor built the foundation of this nation.

I would re take again! If you need help he always responds fast. I took an online class and it was not bad at all. It was mainly two assignments a week with textbook readings and a discussion board. We had one big paper but he helps you organize it before it is due.
This was my second semester with this professor. As long as you read the textbook and submit assignments in a timely matter you should be okay. He gives great feedback and always leaves room for improvement/revising. Overall 10/10 would recommend!
The professor is very clear and has his course outlined well at the very beginning of the course. He also has a very lenient late submission policy that allows for a more relaxed experience. He responds to emails promptly and is informative.
Professor Sampson is a good teacher who explains things clearly. Even though the class was online, he made the lessons easy to understand. His lectures were well-organized. He also made sure we knew what was important for the assignments. Overall, he taught the class in a way that was easy to follow and helpful.
Professor Sampson is laid back and chill. He is also very helpful and answers all of your questions. The only thing is can say is on research papers he is thoroughly looking for evidence and facts so make sure you have your information correct.
Good Professor
Professor cares and very flexible. Learned a lot
He is a good person and takes a lot of time with his students.
Dr. Sampson has been the best professor. I was kinda dreading taking history, but I always had a good time in class and his excitement was infectious! He is very funny, lenient, and knowledgeable. Unlimited revisions on pretty much everything!! Cannot recommend or speak highly enough of him!
Dr. Jason is an amazing professor! I had him for HIS 121 in my first year of college, and he made history fun, clear, and inspiring. He truly cares about his students and always helps when you reach out. His class is engaging, supportive, and exceptional. Don't miss his class—it'll be your loss!
The professor is very professional and has an excellent teaching style. The material is explained clearly, and he is very understanding and nice about accepting late work, which helps students feel supported.
The professor is very professional and explains the material clearly. The teaching style is organized, easy to follow, and makes learning enjoyable. The lessons are presented in a way that helps students understand and stay engaged.
Funny, enjoyable, has interesting takes on topics that other professors wouldn't have provided. Gives a really in depth look at what ACTUALLY happened in American History without all the whitewashing. He is also forgiving with grading at times, which I personally appreciate as someone who struggles to turn in work on time.
Jason made class really engaging and fun. He always included funny jokes that kept everyone interested, and his class was easy to follow but still very informative. Overall, he made history enjoyable and something to actually look forward to.
Awesome professor! Makes Western Civilization before 1600 CE really interesting and easy to understand. Lectures are clear, the workload is fair, and they actually care about students doing well. Definitely recommend taking this class!
This was my very first semester and college course i learned alot and was able to communicate with my professor effectively to work through a few things this semster I want to think him for the support and assistance with the class
He's a cool guy and willing to help you. Don't be nervous!
Not only was the class easy, there was extra credit and open note quizzes on top of that. Plus he also tells jokes almost every class.
His lectures are very enjoyable and informative. While they aren't mandatory to attend, they will help a lot with digesting information. You will need to be very comfortable with writing and with searching for additional sources for this course. He is VERY lenient with late work, but the load will build up quickly if you procrastinate too much.
If you aren't a fan of reading and writing, I would not recommend this class. However, if you're willing to look past the amount of reading and writing, I would 100% recommend taking it. He's genuinely such a great professor, I would compare taking his class to drinking a Celsius. He has so much energy and makes history truly enjoyable.
Really great professor, very funny and fair grader. You do have to buy the textbook to be successful.
Gives plenty of time to make up work
Dr. Sampson is one of the best history teachers. He has a very generous late work policy that helps a lot if you need to balance a busy schedule. You do read from the textbook a lot, but it's a well chosen textbook that is a solid read. He gives great lectures and makes the material fun. I would call the work load as balanced. Weekly assignments.
Lectures are very entertaining and knowledgeable because he explains it in a way that gets through you. I love his late-work policy because it actually helps you have more meaningful submissions since you are not working on a strict deadline.
He makes his class very entertaining to learn history. You need to be ready to write as most of your grade comes from the weekly 200 word check in, but as long as you do all of your reading you are fine.
Professor Sampson is truly an amazing teacher! He treats students with respect and courtesy, and is always eager to help out. His lectures are fun and educational, and he opens every class with jokes. I strongly recommend taking one of his classes!
Professor Sampson is great. He makes lectures fun and entertaining and the homework assignments are very straight forward, with them just being weekly check ins and quizzes. He is very lenient with late work which is super helpful for anyone who like me is a master procrastinator. I appreciate professor Sampson and look forward to having him again.
This Professer has shown more intrested in history than any other History professor i've had. He makes the class fun with his jokes in the begigning and his way of teaching is super fun and he does make it intresting.
Great professor, clearly puts a large amount of work and effort into his classes, obviously enjoys the subject as well. Decent workload but learned a lot and he's flexible with feedback/resubmissions. Tests are multiple choice, highly recommend him.
The professor is funny, gives good feedback, and answers questions in a timely manner. The material is very organized and easy to follow, but you will earn your grade! So be prepared to work hard!
Dr. Sampson is a great professor. All his lectures are great and very interesting. Be prepared to take notes, which will help you with the weekly assignments, like the discussion board.
He is a great and fun professor; assignments can be overwhelming if you fall behind but he has a great late policy.
Professor Sampson is a phenomenal teacher as he is the an enjoyable combination of deeply knowledgeable on the subject he is teaching as well as passionate and enthusiastic about it. I would highly recommend if you are a fan of hilarious and informative lectures. The workload is not too heavy and he offers a grace period with no point deductions.
I took his canvas course class, and he was always clear about what to do and when. The assignments were simple and repetitive every week, which I liked. He was great would def take his class again

Sampson is an absolutely amazing professor and I could not reccomend him enough. He is a kind and caring man who clearly loves to teach.
This professor is pretty laid back and very lenient when it comes to work. The late work deadline really came in handy when it came to turning in assignments past the due date, with no penalty. He is also a very interactive teacher and easy to talk to. I would definitely take this class again. 10/10 would reccomend.
Dr. Sampson is one of the better professors I've had. Very outgoing and fair. His late work policy saved my butt quite a few times, as I am working and going to school both full-time.
Professor Sampson provided engaging and fun lessons that clearly taught the materials and was very receptive to the needs of students. I had a wonderful experience taking his class and would highly recommend him as a professor.

He makes the lectures fun and very entertaining. His notes will help you with the daily check-in at the end of the week. I definitely would take his class again. I would highly recommend him.
Professor is pretty lenient, the course is well planned out, and overall I enjoyed it. It is nice that there are no penalties for late work. Class itself is not hard, there is just a lot of little things you have to do which takes time. Quizzes can be taken an infinite amount of times, so that is also quite helpful when studying.
I truly appreciate my History Professor Sampson for making the subject come alive. He encouraged critical thinking by asking thought-provoking questions and connecting historical events to modern issues, which makes learning meaningful. Overall, his teaching style has made history one of my favorite subjects this semester.
Professor Sampson is very good; he makes history interesting and actually fun. He's clear, helpful, and fair, and his classes are easy to follow.
This professor makes things very efficient and understandable. He cracks jokes at the beginning of class and always has lots of enthusiasm. At the start of the semester he will explain how the assignments will work. He lets you have multiple attempts on the reading quizes until the due date. Once you get into the habit, things will move smoothly.
Great teacher, very lenient on late work, quizzes are unlimited attempts. There aren't any test which I liked and the essays/ projects aren't too difficult. I also took the seven week course which was very fast but easy to manage if your not too busy.
Professor Sampson is a great understanding person. I took the seven week course which was very fast and workload heavy but I expected that when I signed up for it. Professor Sampson doesn't have any test except for the final exam, which I like. Also late work policy is very lenient.
He's a great teacher, very easy to work with, all assignments are due at the end of the semester, and the workload wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be for a seven week course.
Lots of writing in this class so be prepared to write weekly for check ins and discussion posts.
He was awesome and honestly super funny. The type of teacher to make you laugh after having a bad day.
I didn't realize how much a professor matters for an online asynchronous class, but Professor Sampson made it a breeze.
I loved the class the wording of the assignments were easy to read and understand giving me a better understanding of the topic and class as a whole.
He was a understanding teacher, He gave us great feedback at work.
What I want other students to know about the professor's ability is that he was a fare Instructor. He made sure that the homework assignments were easy to understand. The Instructor was not bias and he showed no favoritism to no one, He treated everyone fairly and with respect. Would I recommend him to anyone? YES!
He's a good professor for online class
I had a good experience this semester. I took HIS121 fully remote and earned a good grade. The class was a breeze. The instructor gave clear instructions and rubrics for assignments. He did not penalize for late work and gave multiple extra credit opportunities which was nice.
Professor Sampson is passionate about teaching the subject, his class is easy to follow with lectures and he provides helpful feedback on assignments. He has a super lenient late work policy which is accommodating for anyone with a busy schedule outside of school.
This course was setup to have each weeks assignments lead directly into the main essay and project. The pacing was well thought out and was easy to follow. The weekly reading, videos, and supplemental materials are perfect for learning the material.
Lessons are well organized, and complex concepts are explained in a way that is easy to follow.
This professor is insanely kind, his content makes sense, his projects are relevant, and this class was all around easy. Even if you have a busy lifestyle, you can definitely succeed in this class and do well.
I really liked this class. I am not a fan of history, but the textbook used was very entertaining to read and use for the course assignments. We did have a semester project, that was very reading heavy. However, there is many opportunities to prepare for the assignment before the due date.
You'll definitely get a good laugh at least once in his class, very engaging way of teaching and gives you fun projects and activities
A funny professor with a lot of personal understanding. I had issues throughout my own semester and his own communication and understanding about it made everything work out by the end of the course. I missed attending class when I wasn't there.
