I have almost a 3 hour class with him. He is amazingly energetic and entertaining. He goes out of his way to teach you, which usually involves him doing crazy stunts or experiments. He is passionate about this class. The work given is hard, but he posts very helpful study sheets. TAKE this class. You will learn ALOT. This guy never sits down!
Prof. Sikorski is the best professor I have ever had. He makes everything about Psychology interesting and he truly cares about his students. PSY 112, or any class with Sikorski for that matter is a must-take.
Excellent professor. Very good at getting the terms across. class is never boring.
I did more work in this class than all of my other classes combined. Extremely hard grader
He is exciting, helpful and cultivates the student's interest in psychology. Cares about students. You learn a lot!
did a lot of work in a short time (summer session) his energy and enthusiasm made the class more interesting and the material easier to learn
Loads of energy, keep the coffee away from him, jk, he was great took summer class with lots of info in short time but he was very helpful. multiple choice quizzes, multicoice&short essay& long essay on the Exams plus 2 papers which were easy. got a brain? you'll do well
WAY too much work. You won't like the 14 pop quizzes, the 3 writing assignments, and 4 tests.
This guy has a ton of energy in class and will make you work really hard, but it's worth it. You'll learn a lot from Dr. J. F. Sikorksi. Plus, he's really fine and fun to look at!
Dr. J. He is a great teacher, good looking guy, he is extremely passionate about what he teaches. He is very helpful, funny, but, very serious about the work in class and attendance. If you really want to learn and are planning to go to grad school this is your guy. Take his class you will learn so much.
by far the BEST prof iv'e ever had. i loved going to class and was always captivated. Prof is always available to help students if they need it. TAKE THIS PROF YOU WILL DO GREAT!
Terrible class to take during the winter. Confusing, hard grader. Great as a person, not so much a professor.
Dr. J was my favorite teacher ever throughout my whole education. he's fun, exciting, extremeley intelligent, and has great stories. The work can be heavy at times but it's not too bad. had a quiz on the readings every week
amazing teacher.. Hands down most interesting class i've ever taken.. there is a lot of work, but if you pay attention in class you'll do fine.. he has great stories and you can tell he's passionate about what he teaches
One of the best teachers I have had thus far in college. He's intelligent, helpful, and very enthusiastic about his job and his students succeeding. Take his class if you can. Gives lots of extra credit options and always have office hours. Just do your work and answer a few questions in class and you'll get an A.
Dr. Sikorski makes class worth going to. He is a fair grader and really makes you want to try to do well. Attendance isn't mandatory but there are pop quizzes on the reading. It isn't bad though because you will not mind going to class!!
Very good professor willing to help out when you need it, can be hard at times but everything has a reason, highly recommended
Loves his job-but he is extremely difficult. Plays favorites, and based on that alone=your grade. Unfair, gives some students extra time-he's like the uncool kid who NOW has the chance to try to prove himself-very lame, and very immature. Don't waste ur time-he would be a great teacher if he wasn't so self-absorbed/concerned w the unimportant
He is a good teacher. You can tell he really loves teaching. He also really cares about each and every student passing. Very smart. One small thing that is annoying is he over does it - he kind of needs to calm down the pressure and over exagerating about how difficult the class is. I think that has a negative effect on students.
Sikorski is the man. One of the coolest teachers i've met. Go to him multiple times for each essay and go to class or you will struggle but if you go you will do fine. Loves the yankees and you can have talks with him all the time. Makes psych fun. He gives examples for each subject that make it easy. Take his class. Funny guy and good class
Best professor i've had at central. He is extremely helpful and it's always a fun class. I wouldnt take the class if you arent going to do any work. If you make an effort to read the book and come to class, you will get an A. There is also 50 points of extra credit. I would recommend him to anyone. He's a great teacher.
Sikorski is an amazing professor. The Best at CCSU. He is very helpful and his energy makes class fun!! I had him for 222 and 330. Alot of work and some of it is hard so if you are taking the class to learn he is the professor to go to. Very knowledgeable about what he is teaching. Makes class fun and is all around GREAT!
High energy, lots of opportunity for one on one attention, makes class interesting.
Dr. J expects a lot from you but you do it because its worth it and you don't want to disappoint. His test aren't hard as long as you read and follow the study guides. I'm taking research 2 with him next semester cause I did enjoy his class. He's funny and likes to laugh at himself. Tip: Do the work and try hard and you'll be fine!
Very intellegent, know what he is teaching. Very fair & helpful.
Best professor at CCSU hands down. Yeah, he gives a lot of work, but if you do it all, you are guaranteed an A, especially with extra credit. Seriously, I didn't ace any exams and I didn't have to take the final because I already had enough points for the A in the class. Great guy too, very understanding. Show him respect and he will help you out.
One of the best profs I have ever had. Class is by no means easy but he does an excellent job of explaining it, has reviews the day before the exams. He really wants his students to do well
Abolsutely the best professor at this school. Knows exactly what he is talking about and will help students as much as possible. Expects a lot in all his classes but is very clear on what needs to be done. I had him for abnormal, RM 1 and RM 2. Definately recommend Dr. J!!!
DR J is a great teacher...I only recommend taking his class if your going to work hard. The work load is alot but DR J will certainly go all out of his way to help. The exams are extremely hard but with lots of studying you can get a good grade. He works on a point system so if you dont get the points you dont pass the class.Overall good
Dr. J is the best professor I have had at Central so far! He is extremely hard, but he is there to help you anytime you need it! He even lets you bring in assignments before their due and will correct them for you and then let you hand them in again! He is great and makes learning fun! Definitely take Dr. J if you're not afraid to work & have fun!!
I took Abnormal with him and it is definitly hard but if you go to office hours, particpate, and get the hang of the questions he asks for tests you'll get an A. I would not advise talking about your personal life with him even if it goes with what you are talking about in class. He will treat you differently. Kinda like "you should switch majors"
Its very hard to understand his wording on tests. Thankfully i passed due to hard work (a lot of pop quizzes)! He expects class participation and it is not voluntary, he WILL call you out on it. I felt bad for some of the students that he singled out and made them look foolish. If your taking five classes and working like i was, find someone else.
Dr J was a great professor. He is so interested in your performance and knows his stuff. You MUST participate, but, from someone who hates it, it's really not that bad. Had to retake class for another school..WOW what a change! Nice guy, great teacher, cares about students! Thanks Dr J!
Dr J expects a lot. It is hard work but you learn so much. Lots of extra credit opportunities. He's fun and understanding but plays by the rules. NOT AN EASY A! Would not recommend if you are not willing to do a lot of work. An example of what a true college professor should strive to be
I wouldn't recommend this class. I felt my papers weren't graded fairly considering how much effort I put into his class and assignments. He is also cocky and snobby at times. Im sure he's a very good psychologist but not a very good professor. Very confusing. I got nothing out of his class.
This guy really pushes his students to learn the material. He gives weekly quizzes on random days of the week so you don't know when they are coming but generally they aren't that tough given you know the material. He gives A LOT of opportunities for extra credit throughout the semester. He is too strict on grading essays though.
Dr. J is a cool guy and always willing to meet with students. His class is very hard and he gives a lot of pop quizzes! I work full time which makes it that much harder so i wouldn't recommend it for people that work. If you have nothing better to do, take the class. You will learn a lot but this class requires a lot of work!
Dr. J is a great professor. He is a hard grader, however, if you find yourself having trouble he is always available during office hours, and also will make appointments if you can't make them. I work and am taking this class and he has accommodated with my schedule and his. He teaches with his own notes & has quizzes, which are never a surprise.
Many people are saying not to take his class because he makes you do a lot of work and is hard... THIS IS COLLEGE. If you're serious about your psychology being your major, then this is the professor you want. He pushes you to learn and never hesitates to answer questions and makes sure everyone understands the material and whats going on.
This class was extremely demanding and you need to keep up with readings and work. I have never had so much work in one class, however his tests and papers have prepared me for any other class I have taken. Studying is easy now after this class. I would take him again. Very helpful and goes out of his way for his students.
A lot of people say not to take class with Dr. J because he's so hard, well, HE IS! But he is hands down the best Psychology professor out there! Extremely helpful and the more you go to his office hours and show him you want to learn, he's got your back. He works hard for his students that work hard. Awesome personality & sense of humor! Take him!
it was a 1 credit class but i had more homework in that class than all of my other 3 credit classes. he is hard. he is the ideal professor for smart people who will put in the effort to do well. dont be put off by how tough he is, he is nothing if not helpful. and it is all practical knowledge. YOU MUST TAKE HIM if you want to go to grad school
High energy & friendly! Very high standards, but will bend over backward to help you attain it; offers TONS of time for extra help and extra credit. Great with email and Blackboard questions. Sees learning as a collaborative effort. Treats students with respect. Encourages lively debate. Class is always very engaging. A+ Highly recommended!
Dr. J is great! He truly loves what he's doing and cares about his students. He's always there for office hours and promptly responds to his emails. He really makes you work - but you get a lot out of it. He's also funny as Hell! He gets everyone engaged, excited & involved. He gets you to think and understand. He's a truly gifted teacher.
Professor made class enjoyable and educational, and made himself available to his students anytime we needed help. It's a one credit course but don't be fooled - it's a lot of work. Lots of critical thinking assignments. However, class was highly informative and material learned will be very useful in the real world.
Professor Sikorski is definitely very animated. However, he is extremely biased (and lectures on how psychologists should not be biased). If he does not know the answer to a question he will through a ton of other information at you. I would ask him questions multiple times and never get an answer.
Easiest class I have ever taken. So much busy work. He likes to act like he is a tough professor but if you have half a brain and follow directions you will have no problem. My grade never dropped below a 108
I suggest, if you have a job, don't take his class. I have actually wanted to drop from the amount of studying and writing I've had to do in this class. He tries to be clear in class, but a lot of his lectures don't reflect exactly what the book says which causes conflict in the essays. Hes a very nice, animated guy however!
He's like a strict dad. He is really harsh and makes you work hard for what you want, and in the end, you thank him for making you a better person. If you want to learn a lot of good stuff, take him.
Dr. J makes me really uncomfortable. He calls people out in class, and he makes eye contact for awkwardly long periods of time. He also likes to talk badly about other professors and he continuously talks about how great of a professor he is. He's been described by other students as narcissistic and cocky. I don't recommend taking his class at all.
I don't wear my seat-belt driving to school because I want to die before I can make it to this class...
Dr. J is a great professor and I don't understand how someone could talk badly about him. Yes he is a tough professor, but he is the only professor I've had that knows his stuff and actually teaches students. You just need to work. It's not easy but he's always available for extra help and cares about his students and that's what separates him
He teaches this class as if we were PHD students. I simply do not like him because he always talks bad about my role model Jenny McCarthy and how stupid she is. She is not stupid. She is VERY intelligent and I get so offended every time he speaks bad about her. I cried one day because he couldn't stop talking about her but no one noticed thankfully
Dr. J does an amazing job with a tough class. The material isn't easy to learn, but he tries to make it understandable. The book is hard to understand. He's the most helpful professor I've ever met, and will work harder than you. You can always stop by before an assignment is due to have it checked. There are always opportunities for extra credit!
Dr. J works just as hard as you do in this class. He is NOT an easy professor, but you will be more prepared for Research Methods 2 if you take this course with him. He's not there to be your friend, he's there to push you. I learned so much from him and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to take his class.
I really loved this class. It actually taught me things I'd use to be successful as a psychology major. He's a tough grader but more then willing to meet and review your work. (even more then once) I was not expecting this much work in a 1 credit course. I learned a lot and felt extremely accomplished when it was all over.
Talk about a professor who actually CARES about his students. I've never had a professor who makes me want to go home study so I can participate effectively in class the next day.
Dr J is a really good professor. He asks a lot if you but he really wants to see you do well and will help you through it. He works hard for his students and while the class is hard and there is a lot of info he is always available and genuine. He doesn't take attendance but missing class puts you behind. Post on blackboard! He loves participation!
Best professor I have ever had! Best professor at CCSU as well. Always makes himself available. You will learn a ton from him! Great personality very funny he will keep you awake and on your toes.
He definitely makes you work hard for your grade, but his grading is unfair no matter how hard you work. He takes off points for minor things, and tests are difficult to begin with. Also, not very understanding if you need to miss class due to weather or personal issue. Even though he has no problem grading assignments a week after he promised.....
I highly suggest not taking his research methods class. Not only are you drowning in so much homework, you will also find yourself mentally drained. He claims that class participation is big. I missed two classes all semester and showed up for office hours with questions about projects or assignments and still got a 3550. This is CCSU, not YALE.
Dr. Sikorski is both the hardest and best professor you will find in the Psychology department at CCSU. He devotes endless amounts of his time to help students in any way, and you won't learn more elsewhere. Expect to work for your grade, harder than you ever have before at CCSU. His class shows you where you need to be for grad school.
for what its worth, he is the only male professor I've ever had that NEVER stared at my chest. that made me feel extremely respected, like he valued my opinion. that, along with many, many other things is why he is the best example of what a man can be. he is he is the best role model i have ever had. he inspires me to work harder every day.
Dr. J is an excellent teacher, even if he is a bit of a tough grader. If you have any interest at all in passing his class, you will - he makes himself available for advising and help all the time. Participation is REALLY important. He really cares about his students, and if you put the effort into his classes, it's an easy A.
Anyone who fails this class did not try hard enough. Dr. J will help you the entire way if you go to office hours. Show up to class, participate, you MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING! Again, Anyone who failed this course did not try hard enough or skipped class. Do NOT skip class. You will fall behind. Very smart professor. Would take him again.
You will learn a lot in Dr. J's courses, but if you have a job or anything else taking up your time, I recommend not taking him. Really the only way to succeed in his courses are by going to his office hours, where he will correct your papers, and you have to get there about an hour or two early to actually meet with him because so many people go.
If you want a life then I suggest not taking this class with him. He's available to meet any time even if it's not during office hours which is great but he's a tough grader and is almost too smart. Wants things answered in a certain way. Also I've noticed he grades higher with students he likes more even if they have the same answer
One of the best professors I've had. Have to get used to what he looks for on assessments, but he wants to help you succeed if you put in effort. Extra credit for SONA, showing up to study sessions or just because. Full of interesting stories, really relates material to life so you understand and can use it, really passionate, energetic, fun.
This was by far the hardest class I've ever taken. I commuted to school twice a week & had no time to go to office hours & he is very touchy if you don't go. I have never read so much in my life & a 5 Q quiz on 40 pages was extreme. He had AWESOME lectures though, i will give him that. Great teacher just expects way too much.
A great teacher really enthusiastic. He gives a lot of extra credit!! He will walk you through the essays, he also review your essays and tells you what you have to fix it. Rarely cancels class, also moves the exams back many times.
Dr. J is by far the most helpful professor I have encountered at CCSU thus far. Definitely stay up on your readings and take assignments seriously. It is a college course and although his expectations are quite high, he is willing to do anything to help you get the grade you desire. Take advantage of his office hours and review sessions!
Dr. Sikorski might be one of the best professors at CCSU. He will teach you how to be a critical thinker, not just a zombie who does homework, takes exams and writes papers. His biggest plus is that he provides ample time for you to meet with him. He will never not be there for you, and there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. Take him!
Dr. J's lectures are entertaining and interesting. He's a funny guy. He is very clear about what he expects from you! He gives you a lot of information to learn but a great majority of it doesn't appear on the exams. He's a tough grader but it willing to work with you to improve your grade and get you where you need to be. Highly recommend.
Dr. J not only gives amazing lectures with a bunch of enthusiasm but makes the class worthwhile and interesting with his many stories. He is not the easiest grader and does in fact give a lot of work... but this is an upper level course and he gives more than enough time to ask for help and ask questions. I suggest always to go to office hours!
I loved Dr. Sikorski both times I had him (for lifespan development & abnormal psych). He grades fairly, is funny, makes the class worth going to, and he is almost always available for help! Very fair professor, not an easy A, but deffinetly not hard if you do what you're supposed to do.
After reading the comments, I figured he would be a great professor. The course itself is hard and it doesn't help that he makes it 10x harder to understand it. Test were very hard. I even came to his office hours for extra help but I felt like it wasn't any help. Class average grades were always a 70. This course took over my life
Although he expects a lot from his students he's willing to help you and meet with you. He is also willing to help you to things related in the field. He's a great asset to have on campus.
This guy is awesome. I'm a female. He is the only guy I have ever met who is interested in, and respects, my opinion. Its refreshing to meet a guy who can see me as a human being. He raised the bar for all other professors, and men in general, in my life. I learned a lot from him as a student and as a person. He taught me what I was capable of.
Dr Sikorski is by far the best professor at CCSU. Anyone who believes that this statement is not debatable, well, then, you need to reconsider your criteria for an amazing teacher. He gives very in-depth instructions to what he expects, misses no classes, utilizes every free minute he has to office hours, and has a personality that no one can matc
Dr. J is one of the best profs I've had at CCSU. Participation matters and he is looking for it. There are quizzes on the readings every week- I got away with not using the textbook, but only bc I was repeating the course. Lectures are awesome, he's very charismatic, and will make an effort to ensure that you pass if you seek him out.
One of the best professors I've had here at CCSU. Makes lectures enjoyable. First class I've had in a very long time where time flies by because it's always such an interesting class with great topics. Participation matters!
I love Dr. J! He is nice and funny and a good professor. He is a bit of tough-grader but he is almost always available for help during his office hours. He tries his best to help students out and he is super funny in class. Highly recommend!
Dr. J is hands down my favorite professor ever. He gives you a ton of opportunities for extra credit. Class participation is strongly graded so make sure you show up and participate. Usually no homework other than weekly online postings to blackboard. Tests are all situation based- no definition questions which I liked.
Dr. J is legit my favorite professor! He is very attentive and helpful when you need it. He will do whatever he can to help you succeed. He is a tough grader and also makes sure the grammar is correct, but he will help anytime you need him. He is very responsive and an overall great professor
He is very reasonable, you def need the book and and definitely need to participate in class or on black board learn. He wants his students to pass and makes himself readily available for anyone. He understands that everyone is busy and tries to help everyone.
Best professor I've had for a psych class. He might seem intimidating at first but he's really fun and cares about his students. Participate and look over notes and you'll be fine. Gives pop quizzes but if you read the chapter, you're golden. Participation is a must so don't be shy, it's graded.
Dr. J is one of the best professors I've had at CCSU. He can be intimidating at first. He is caring about his students and wants you to succeed. He gives so many opportunities for extra credit. He gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit. Make sure to read because he gives a lot of pop quizzes. Tests are hard & require a good amount of studying.
Hes amazing
Buy the book! If you don't have it, you won't pass. Sikorski really prepares you to enter the field of psychology. He is relaxed, easy to talk to, and will help you out if you need him. Attend his review sessions and PARTICIPATE IN CLASS! If you don't talk or post to Blackboard, it WILL affect your grade! He's an absolutely wonderful professor.
Relaxed, fun, gives you countless opportunities to demonstrate your knowledge and interest in the field. Very engaging with his students and makes sure the material is taught and understood, not just memorized. His class is an unparalleled experience, never a dull moment and sparked my interest in the field. Easily the best professor at the school.
Dr. J is awesome, take him for any class you can.
One of the only good professors I've had in the psy department. Reading the textbook is a must to pass tests and in class quiz's. His tests are on the more difficult side bc he uses odd wording. He gives TONES of extra credit opportunities. You really have to work for your grade in this class. He is also hands down the funniest professor.
TAKE HIS CLASS! His lectures are always interesting and the class never drags on. You really have to work for your grade, but the material is so interesting that it really isn't that bad. Gives tons of extra credits, 11 pop quizzes (drops some of them), 3 exams, and study sessions that help out a ton. You are missing out if you don't take him!
I love Dr. Sikorski! He is an amazing teacher, he really tries to make sure you understand what he's talking about. He is understanding, helpful, and very knowledgeable. If you don't understand something he is very willing to try to help you out. Easy A if you pay attention and go to class. I really enjoyed 3 of his courses.
Dr. J is the reason why I ended up becoming a psych major! This class is NOT an easy A, but he makes himself available to you no matter what. He gives great study sessions before exams and really wants to help you! The exams are multiple choice, short answer and one long essay (which you usually write at home). Lots of extra credit opportunities!
This class was not an easy A, Dr. J really makes you work for the grade you want. Because of this I have learned so much from him. He is always available if you need help, even if you are not taking one of his classes. This has been by far my favorite class and professor so far.
Never missed a class, aced all my tests and all assignments. I recieved an A on but 1 and somehow recieved a B in the course. He is there for extra help but will not work with you if an unusual circumstance was to present itself. If you take this class be prepared to read 200 textbook pages a week and take a pop quiz on them every class.
Great teacher, & very funny. Overall nice person, however the class is very difficult. Maybe its just psychology cause Ive heard thats hard but his class is def difficult. Although he makes him self available a lot for officer hours. Gives lots & lots of extra credit just a hard course to take in general.
genuine man.
Great professor. You can tell he cares about his students. Class is very lecture heavy, and you need to attend them but he makes them less boring than you would think with his good use of humor and storytelling. Show up to class, pay attention and you will do fine. Highly recommend.
I loved sikorski, if you're the type who's really talkative I recommend taking any of his classes. Every lecture he makes me wanna go out and make myself a better person, 10/10 would recommend
Very hard class but Dr Sikorski makes it so you really learn something. You absolutely need to go to every class because participation points are huge.
Really caring professor but if you don't go to office hours you probably won't pass
Dr.J is the man. Every professor should be like him.
Dr. J's PSY330 class was a hard class but it was worth it! Yes, his class is difficult but you learn something out of every lecture. He's very friendly and appreciates class participation. What I also like about him is he engages his students and offers a lot of outside extra credit opportunities that are worth up to 10 points to your final grade!
If these dude taught all my classes I think I'd be a lot better off. He's not an easy professor but you can tell he actually cares which makes things so much better. He is engaged with the class and tries his hardest to be a fair and interesting professor.
He's the kind of prof that you may hate in the moment but love the second you pass the class. He's super honest which seems scary but im the type of person who hates confrontation and Im so glad I had him. STICK UR NOSE WHERE IT DOESNT BELONG, like he would say! Super motivation as well, but please dont plagarize. He will make 5 lectures about it.
PSY222 is a very difficult course however I believe that sikroski made it much harder than it needed to be. He is an EXTREMELY tough grader when it comes to exams and papers to be careful. Don't skip class or you will fall behind. He is an AMAZING professor you will learn a lot but he is difficult and expects A LOT.
Dr. J is hands down the best Psych professor at CCSU. For Abnormal especially, the class is difficult only because of how much content is covered, but the fact is that he ACTUALLY covers it. I never had an instance of him not at least mentioning something from the reading in class, so there were no surprises in quizzes or exams.
Dr. Sikorski is definitely the best professor I have had so far. He cares a lot about your grade as long as you show an effort- he will notice it. Office hours are definitely a must to attend if you want to do excellent in the class. The work load is heavy however it is very interesting so it did not matter, lectures were also super engaging.
Such a cool dude. He really wants all of the students in his class to succeed. People may interpret him as coming off very strong but that's his personality and passion for teaching which I personally think is great. He puts a lot of emphasis on the syllabus which I dismissed at first and regret. He's also very available and understanding.
Professor Sikorski is very understanding and gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. This is important because you'll probably need them for the exams/ projects. There are three case analyses, essays, and exams. Don't expect an easy A if you put in no work. You need to participate to get a good grade.
Doctor Sikorski's class can be difficult at times but he is very helpful during office hours. He gives so many opportunities to earn extra credit and is an overall fair professor. Get ready to work in his class but you will for sure learn so much!
PARTICIPATE! You have to read, do the work, and show up. You'll receive feedback on your assignments (constructive) that's meant to help you advance in the course. You'll either love or hate him but he knows what he's talking about and he's always fair - trust. If you're interested in clinical psych/mental health + illnesses it's a must.
Dr. J is a hidden gem of CCSU. He works harder than any professor I have ever taken. He gives challenging assignments, but also provides the support necessary to do well on them. If you want to really learn, he's the guy to take. I will take him for every class possible in the future. This is the man you want writing your recommendation letters!
dont like him at all
Dr. Sikorski is by far the best professor I've ever had. He is incredible. The subject matter is difficult but he does a great job teaching. His lectures are amazing. You WILL learn in this class. There were weekly quizzes, 4 exams that you NEED to study for (he gives great study guides), 2 case analyses (fun). Lots of extra credit opportunities.
As a person he seems very genuine and caring but as a professor I wasn't fond of his teaching style. He is a very tough grader and if something isn't written the way he wants, he will knock points off your paper. I personally wouldn't take him again. You could be trying so hard at something and he will still critique it.
Dr. Sikorski is the best professor within the psych department. He is extremely passionate and always goes the extra mile for his students. He has a lot of experience in the field (teaching, research, clinical), so he knows his stuff. If you don't wish to truly learn the course work, don't take his class. If you dislike him, it's not him, it's you.
To say the least, Dr. J is incredible. He truly, wants every student do well. He works around anyone's schedule finding time to help them. He goes harder than any professor I've had to show REAL LIFE info. that will help us. Plenty of chance for extra points, as long as you do his assignments and read the book, you're fine. 10/10. He's got it.
I can write an essay to say how absolutely fantastic Dr J is as a professor. He is hilarious and is there for you as a stressed out, hardworking college student. I got covid in the middle of the semester and he accomodated to that where he gave me weeks to finish simple assignments! He gave my class free points on a consistent basis. Dr J the GOAT
One of the best classes I have ever taken. Dr. J is a very understanding professor and he makes the class so fun with his jokes. This semester was very stressful for me because of outside factors but he was very kind and gave me all the extra time that I needed to catch up. Lots of reading, quizzes, and self-assessments. The exams aren't too bad.
Dr. J is really the best. He makes the material that you learn in class applicable to you/your life and is always easy to reach outside of class hours. The material isn't very hard, and all you have to do is show up to class, take notes, read your book and try to participate in class. He cracks jokes all the time and has been extra helpful!!
He was alright just his grading was a bit off.
Dr. J is a genuinely good person. Yes, his pop quizzes, exams, and assignments can be hard and intimidating, but he really cares about the success of every one of his students. He is considerate about when life happens, just talk to him about it!
He was clearly kind/caring. There is no doubt that he's educated on the subject matter and that he cares about students learning this material. However, he is not considerate and does not take into account student lives and learning styles (which is shocking because this is life span development). Would not recommend if your an independent learner.
I've taken 3 classes with him bc he's awesome. Hard to get used to his grading and teaching style but it's bc he cares about stuff being useful and not wasting your time. Extra credit will save you, OFFICE HOURS, review sessions and study guides too. Make an effort and he'll help a lot, even with unrelated stuff. Super understanding and caring.
Professor Sikorski is a highly caring and enthusiastic professor! Participation is the biggest grade, so make sure you attend office hours, share your thoughts in class, and post your thoughts to his discussion boards. This class is not easy to pass, however if you put the work in and take extra credit opportunities, you will do well in the class.
Super nice guy, fun and loud. He keeps his students engaged. He's a very tough grader, and expects nothing but the best. Very stressful class.
Dr J was so much fun, I had no interest in Psychology and yet his class was so much fun! Hes a great guy who was super cool with grading and assignments. The tests were a combo of lectures and reading quizzes so as long as you do the readings and listen well in class youll pass no problem. He gives extra points to you just because hes THAT guy!
Dr. Sikorski cares about the well being of his students. He gives quizzes mostly every class on readings that are due the day of the quiz, and often gives extra credit for various things throughout class. Absolutely take Dr. Sikorski for PSY 112, I wouldn't take anyone else.
The semester is not over and I just want to warn others prior to taking the class. He is a funny guy don't get me wrong and has a good personality, but doesn't seem to care about your outside life. I am taking this class for 1 credit filler. instead of helping, he sends a warning to the school you are failing and then they contact you. embarrassing
Dr. J is a great dude, it's clear he cares about his students and will make himself available/ accommodate you to the best of his ability. On the other hand, he is very clear about his expectations and will not accept excuses. Attendance and doing the work is absolutely mandatory, but he is a pretty funny guy and makes class enjoyable.
Sikorski was very knowledgeable on the subject, and knew what he was talking about. His biggest issue is the fact he grades way too hard in a low level course, and he will always have something to say about your opinion on something, unless it agrees with his opinion. He criticized his own definition in a paper, highly suggest staying away from him
I would want other students to know. If you take his class, be ready to work very hard and graded hard as well. Secondly, if you did not take any of his classes. I advise you not to take his class. Lastly, if you work full-time, you will be unable to schedule office visits. He encourages his students to schedule office visits, not peer tutor.
Professor Sikorski is a great guy, don't get me wrong. But I am not a fan of his lecture or class style. He is very heavy on meetings, participation, and discussions. I get it, participating and being engaged is very important. But what if I just don't have an answer? If you don't talk in class or in discussion boards, you will do poorly.
Great guy, but his class ruined psychology for me. He grades so hard and his chapter quizzes are way too hard. You have to read every chapter in detail, and raise your hand at least once a class to succeed. If you don't participate in class or meet with him individually, you legit will fail. I would recommend NOT taking any of his classes.
Dr. J is the best, but don't take his class unless you can dedicate your entire semester to just his material. If you don't read every single chapter, you will not pass. Very hard grader.
Don't listen to the negative rates. Dr. J is the one of the best. He cares about more than your grade and wants you to succeed in college. Yes, it's a lot of reading and heavy material for tests, but that's what comes with a tough class. He definitely challenges you so be prepared, but if you keep up and put in effort, you will get a good grade.
Dr. J is by far the best professor I've had at CCSU. Not only are his lectures very engaging, but he genuinely cares about his students and their success within the course. He provides a ton of opportunities for participation both in and outside of class, and is always willing to help his students. A really cool professor overall, highly recommend!
It is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to fail one of Dr. J's classes. He is approachable, offers more than enough help, and gives out a ton of extra credit. Reading the textbook and showing up are important but he tries his best to make the lectures enjoyable. Exams are super straight forward with plenty of review available- and you can bring a cheat sheet.
Dr. J is an amazing professor, he cares deeply about what he teaches and most importantly wants his students to succeed. He gives ample time to work on assignments and provides a great deal of extra credit. However, if you struggle with textbook ready and writing essays this course with him is not for you as theres a lot of it. Weekly Quizzes.
Dr J is one of the best professors out there. Yes, his classes are reading, lecture and participation heavy but that comes with taking a higher level course. I will say is a very tough grader but he will meet with you and discuss where something went wrong. He is invested in his students future and wants them to succeed.
This professor was amazing, especially for it being my first semester as a freshman. He was extremely welcoming and always wanted to help. It is important to know he is very fair when it comes to grading, as long as yo show effort in the class you will do good, he just always wants you to do your best.
Dr. J is a great professor. He is very knowledgable. Doesn't take attendance but at the end of the semester he gives out points for class participation/attendance/getting to class on time. Participation matters.
Dr. J truly is an awesome professor. At the beginning of the semester I thought it was going to be tough and not that it was easy, but he makes it very easy for you to want to do well in his courses. He is very knowledgeable and and truly wants his students to succeed. He is always there to help and meet with you if you need it!
Professor Sikorski is a great lecturer who makes the material engaging. Attending class and doing the readings are key to doing well. unstuckstudy and the textbook are also super helpful for acing the tests and quizzes.
Sikorski is a great professor for aspiring psych majors. His lecture style isn't for everyone though. His lectures are always (intentionally) a week behind and makes you stay a week ahead in readings by giving quizzes on the chapters. He shows his biases too much sometimes and can be rude if you ask an opposing question he isn't in favor of.
This professor will do anything to help you pass, he gives tons of extra credit, all you have to do is show up and read the box and pretend like you care and this man will give you a great score. Lots of information in this course you have to stay on top of it or you will fall very behind
Dr. J is empathetic, outgoing, and kind, with a genuine desire to see students succeed. While his repeated emphasis on expectations sometimes felt like I was in middle school, the course requirements are simpler than they seem. Highly recommend his class! Just be punctual and participate actively. He is a great resource for psych majors.
Sikorski was a very touch grader, participation and attendance is mandatory to get a good grade. He will call you out on things that do not need to be said in front of everyone. He is a loud and fast talker, his lectures can be very hard to follow if you need a moment to take notes.
Dr J is one of the most unprofessional professors I have ever encountered. He comes to class in a boisterous, excited manner, he then turns around and snaps at you for asking questions. His neurotic nature is concerning. Any attempt to contact him about issues is met with contempt. His email responses show he doesn't actually read what you send.
treats his 100 level psych class like it's a 400 level class. took this class just cause i needed credits and its my hardest class. he means well and is a great person but doing way too much
He's a chill guy but assigns way too much homework and assignments. He does offer a lot of extra credit but its still not worth. If you miss a class then you get a 0 on the quiz due that day you missed and no way to make it up. ALOT of textbook readings every week mandatory. Do not recommend for anyone to take this class.
Dr. Sikorski is an AMAZING instructor. He is a tough grader, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me a better student. He offers Humanity Passes for exam days if you're too busy to take it that day. He also offers TONS of extra credit -- I got 20 extra points on my final from SONA surveys. His lectures are very stimulating which helps my ADHD.
Really would stay away, far away. Tough on his students especially if you aren't a psych major or have never taken a psychology course before. Doesn't realize giving 32 reading quizzes and other assignments throughout a semester could be difficult with 4 other classes. Constantly yelling profanity, better psych teachers with better attitudes.
Dr J is great! He can be neurotic (his words) but it's all to help u succeed. Don't let the syllabus scare u, it's just to make expectations clear. I felt like he truly cared abt my success, he takes the time to know us as ppl. The class itself is hard & time consuming, u def need to read the textbook. Dr J offers so many extra credit opportunities
he means well n wants you to succeed, but he runs his class like the navy. has called out students in class for asking "stupid questions". he makes it hard to get the courage to participate, but he grades very heavily on participation. way too many assignments and quizzes. dont take if youre looking to fill in credits. worse than my 400 classes
Within the course there are lots of expectations for understanding heavy amounts of readings, participation, and weekly quizzes. He is a tough grader and is a little passive aggressive at times. Lecture heavy and does not provide grades until weeks after you complete something. Will sometimes give extra credit chances. Often overwhelming classes.
