I enjoyed his class. There was a lot of work, but he helped out a lot. I don't much care for literature, but his selections and class discussions made it interesting for me. My favorite class of that quarter!
Professor Snart is great! He picks great assignments and topics, it isn't hard, and he makes it fun. Plus, he's not too hard on the eyes
A very cool teacher. he is very down to earth and straight foward. I highly recommend him to others.
this is the best professor at CoD.
This is one excelent teacher! He is very helpful and very inteligent. I'm never bored in his class-he keeps it intriguing and involves the students. The assignments are in depth and class discussion is great. There's never a dull moment. He's pretty good looking too, if only I was older!
Very easy class and he gives plenty of time to finish up work. Also very easy to get a hold of if you have any questions. By far the best and easiest class ive ever taken. Never been in honors before either so if possible take him over anyone else.
Snart is a good teacher, and very down-to-earth. Discussions in class are always interesting. Papers are somewhat difficult, but he's an easy grader. U have to make ur own webpage(geocities) and do a couple of projects on it. They're time consuming, but easy. Makes u keep a weblog(diary) for pts.
Jason was one of my favorite professors. He doesn't believe in tests, so a lot depends on your papers. BUT he schedules conferences with you to discuss your work, and is incredibly easy to get in touch with via phone, e-mail, etc. All in all, a great professor.
Very nice guy, fun teacher. The material on its own is great, but he makes it better. Grades pretty easily and dosen't assign many if any tests at all
Tough in a lot of ways (aka pushing general statements, forcing elaboration on points to show that you have read the material), but easy in others (he will usually find a way to agree w/ you after he 'tests' you. All in all a nice guy, but seems to still be developing his 'style' & can be inconstant
whoever wrote that Professor Snart is "inconstant" doesn't know what they're talking about. That's not even a word. Snart is the best teacher I've had at COD.
he is probably the very nice guy.however he needs to learn that students do have a life beyond the college and more important then that the fact that we as the students dont have a time or interest to read all the books that he is refering too.on the end professor snart"purpose of comment...
He isn't that bad but he does make you read alot of dumb short stories and you don't get to pick your own topics on your essays which sucks because for 103 there are some long papers. I would pick a diffent teacher but I did pass with a B.
Snart is beyond amazing, and he has by far been the most influential teacher i have ever had.
Prof. Snart is a great teacher also has influenced my educational experience. Take him if you want to learn anything.
I insulted him once and he got super angry. A bad teacher to take if you are not extremely good with computers as he makes you do projects like create your own website with very little instruction. I learned absolutely nothing from this dude.
Hes not a bad teacher. Hes a pretty tough grader (a little unfair), but im staying with snart cuz im still passing with a B. Hes pretty cool (depends on the day), but kinda boring. I say take him cuz hes pretty easy
ok, so this guy's awesome. seriously. you have to do the same old papers that you always have to do for any english class, but instead of doing anything else lame, all you have to do it make a website, and you have to type in a blog.....like thats it! he's really fun/funny in class too, he's smart, witty and sarcastic which is always good in a prof
One of the easiest english teachers I've ever had. Nearly half of our grade was from just showing up to class and typing in our web blog, which was just an informal diary-thing and not like an essay at all. Only 2 papers, which were easy. A simple pass. Highly reccommended.
Helpfull and understanding! Hes pretty nice too and his papers are easy!
I took this class independently & we finished 3 weeks early b/c he didn't beat around the bush. He was helpful w/ suggestions for research and has a good sense of humor.
He is such a cool guy. He doesn't care much if you go, and his papers aren't that bad. Class is very informal, and he's very understanding.
Easy, helpful, kinda cute, couldn't go wrong. Responds quickly to e-mail if you have a Q. When papers/hw is handed out he explains things really well. He likes creative things with the website. Alot of ppl in my class did not enjoy it, but it was fairly easy-he even gives a hand out how to use it, so I don't know how some people didn't do theirs.
Great teacher, fair grader, pretty funny, total dreamboat.
The worst grader evarr? Stupidest assignments ever? Worst book stories ever? Why bother? Let him sit in his office and do nothing. He is boring anyways
I took his online class. Easiest english class Ive ever had. I think theres 4 papers. He takes the time to grade and give feedback, which help you with your next papers. Easy class discussion posts every wednesday that take 5 minutes and are half your grade. He is very clear and detailed so its easy to take this class online!
Nice guy, but is a very tough grader and his assignments are extremely boring.
Prof. Snart is just an all around great guy. He is a fantastic professor, very helpful, and funny. But that isn't why you should take his class. If you want to succeed, he will help you do it. He is quite possibly the best teacher at COD.
This guy is very annoying. His online class has a lot of work, and he offers no help. He is a very bad grader. Class started off with 19 ended up wih 9, and God knows how many passed. He thinks because it is an online class, he underestimates his student, and makes them do donkey work. Avoid this guy at all costs as long as others are there.
Mr. Snart was the greatest teacher I have had at COD. He was very helpful and answered any question that i had. I wish I had more English classes to take so I could be in his class again. I recommend him to anyone who still needs to take an English class.
Mr. Snart is a great teacher. He is very straight forward with what work needs to be done. He is an organized teacher and grades fairly...cutie too!
Professor Snart is hilarious. You can tell he's super smart because he's quick witted with everything we talk about. You do 3 major essays throughout the semester about a few different pieces of literature studied. You also do a web project so if you like technology it will be interesting for you. He's also Canadian and the final is at CiCi's pizza
Ah, Jason, where to start? Great guy, great approach to Poetry writing class. Was very open-ended and peer-review based. My current poetry style developed as a result of this class. Funny, intelligent, slightly dorky. Appreciates & understands the creative process, especially (I felt) in how poetry can be different than prose. I'd take him again!
Very tough grader. I do not recommend his online course! Not lenient at all, and his grading is very inconsiderate.
I liked the guy as a person, but he gives really vague instructions. Even though the instructions are vague, he's still very picky about what you wrote, and he looks for really detailed and in-depth writing. The final wiki project was the only redeeming thing about the class. I don't recommend this teacher for English 102.
Took his 8wk online course and loved it. Most assignments involve a short paragraph reflecting on a story or someone elses point of view. He makes sure to have his online students communicate w/ eachother, even though its online. We had 3 papers, one of which was a revision of the 1st paper. Easy, fun and enjoyable. I would definitely recommend him
Do not take this professor for English 1102. He is not lenient or even understanding of personal emergencies. Seems arrogant. English online class is easy but he is hard to work with.
DO NOT TAKE!! he is a jerk anal about work citation, forget about writing a good paper if the citations not correct F! not helpful at all. he is a nerd who thinks he should be teaching at Harvard
I enjoyed taking this class. Prof.Snart is a very intelligent, fair, and helpful person. He made sure his student understood what was expected of them. He is very keen on deadlines for assignments. I would recommend you taking his class only if you adhere to due dates and not a procrastinator.
Although he's dull and properly stuck up at first, he's a funny, helpful guy once you get to know him. Too much internet-based assignments for my liking and crappy authors(Joyce?! whyyy), but he never lectures. 3 major essays with lots of time given. Proper and quick-witted, not awful to look at either.
Easy enough grader. Very stuck up at first. I think he intentionally scares off people so he can grade less papers. Just stick with him, it gets better. If you're like me and got shafted by the school and got him at the last second (picking a good prof from here) chill. All the papers are high school quality, if that. I've had harder gen ed classes
I took English 1102 independently and he was very understanding. I completed my high school over 20 years ago in Europe and still managed to get A. Professor Snart is a very intelligent guy, helpful, not so easy grader, but amazing human being.
Very strict on deadlines and gives vague instructions. Very strict grader and comes of somewhat pompous for who knows why. Do not take.
Great teacher! Took him online and really liked his teaching style. Tough grader on essay's but overall great.
Overall not a bad teacher. Took him for 1102 online and the amount of work was decent just took awhile sometimes. Did alot of reading. His final essay is a pain though. Not the easiest teacher but not the hardest.
Definatly take his online poetry class. The assignments were easy, required little reading, and he is very helpful, i've never had an online class where the teacher was alwasys posting things to help the students. As long as you do the work, you pass. Fair grader, usually gives good feedback.
Prof. Snart is a great teacher. He gives all the tools needed for success in his class. He offers help when needed and yes, we are supposed to know how to cite correctly. This is English class! I'm almost done with his hybrid class and I loved it. I would take all of his classes if I could.
Professor Snart is very helpful. He's always around or online. He's also funny. You learn a lot in his class. He's very clear about what you have to do and how.You just have to pay attention and apply everything he says.
I took his hybrid course and it was great!! There is online work which is very manageable but also helpful. He is very clear on his expectations but is not the easiest grader. Some people are complaining that hes stuck up; hes really just sarcastic which i found made the class fun!
Prof. Snart is an awesome teacher- he teaches writing techniques that make writing essays a lot easier. But he is strict on grading. Okay now for the reason why I am rating him in the first place- He's REALLY HOT. But that shouldn't matter. Wait no... it does. =)
Mildly tough grader but he actually wants to help students. Had most of the assignments and lecture notes up and gave tips and hints on blackboard. Great professor.
most boring class EVER!!he goes on and on the whole period! his classes suck and hes very rude, doesn't help the students!
He is definitely passionate about british literature. His class was not super easy but it was manageable. Our class was a hybrid; half online half in class.
I took the 8 week summer course online. The professor had everything clearly listed on blackboard and assignments were pretty easy. You can tell he is passionate about the subject. Totally doable in the 8 week session.
Really nice guy. His hybrid course was really easy, as long as you pay attention in class and do all the reading, the online work isn't hard at all.
Eight week online course. Very challenging, but well laid out. Do not get behind. Do not be afraid to ask Professor for help, he is more than willing to help. Learned a lot..stay away if you are a procrastinator.
He was fantastic and I loved this course. He really challenged you to write and was thorough in his instruction. He kept it real and provided great feedback. Will take another course from him soon.
Very easy A. Just make sure you post your work on time and participate on workshop days. Just try and you'll get an A.
This teacher is extremely vague with instructions on assignments . The discussion rarely had to do with the readings. This class does not need to be a 16 week course for the amount of stories you will read. The teacher also comes off as pompous.
I took creative writing class and it was a hybrid. I've never took a hybrid class before, but after taking Prof. Snart's class it was very very enjoyable. He's a cool and funny professor just do all your work on time and you'll be fine. Also have internet access if you're going to take a hybrid class.
Very funny. Hated the literature class at first but quickly got interested. A lot of reading and analyzing stories. Sometimes he is not clear in the assignments but he seems he'd be a help if you asked. Many group projects. But, I would take this teacher again.
He is not specific on assignment. He doesn't care about discussions unless you say what he wants to hear. I have an A but i feel like i haven't learned anything. Show up to class or not you still get the same grade. Also he is judgemental toward students. Do not take his class if you want to learn.
Grading is a bit confusing. I got 20 points taken off of a 50 point assignment, and it was never explained why. Or sometimes 5 points would be deducted, and it makes one wonder. If you like going over the same material over and over again throughout the whole semester, this is your class. Journal entries on everything you do and read, every week.
overall he is a good teacher. But not very specific on what he assigns the class. He uses the book a lot. He is a tough grader on essays. There is a lot of freedom in his class and you have the option of being very creative. Do the work and you will be fine
Great professor! I loved how he made his literature class more then just a "read a book, write a paper" class. He made it more interactive and assigned things like, films for the class to watch which made you put yourself into the characters(from the book) shoe's. He also has a great sense of humor and is a lot of fun to work with.
This class should not be called honor even. It is too easy, I learned in this class how to write a perfect comparison essay because it was the only thing we did for the rest of the semester. We repeated the same stories over and over. If you want to take honors do not take this because you will lose interest taking other honors classes.
Professor Snart gets on a personal level with each of his students, and is truly understanding. His class is easy in the sense that there aren't tests, or confusing assignments. Literally all you have to do is try and come to class with printed out papers for workshop days. he is fun and interesting, and motivates all to be the best writer they can
Professor Snart was super chill and very understanding. I took his hybrid 1102 honors class and it was a breeze. You definitely need the book and to get all of your online work done but it's not much and it's really easy. Great guy, good sense of humor, a little awkward, but overall good teacher. Get ready to think outside of the box for projects.
SUPER SELF-CENTERED AND BELIEVES HE IS FUNNY BUT HE'S NOT. A LOT OF GROUP PROJECTS
Takes random points off the online discussions even though I did everything that was expected of them. He's "sarcastic," thinks he's hilarious (definitely not). If you have any conservative views don't take him, VERY LIBERAL. If you have a question about your grade, he will evade you. If you have questions about the text, he makes you feel stupid.
Prof Snart is the most disrespectful and rude professor I've had yet in my three years of college. Makes students feel bad when they ask for help. He doesn't care about his students, and will not provide any further explanation on things you may not understand. Not helpful at all.
I took 2 creative writing classes from him. He's decent teacher. If you like freedom in classes take his. He has a very hands off style of teaching. His poetry class was fun and easy, but pushed me out of my habits. He's willing to help, but can be vague with answers at times. Pretty decent guy, although very sarcastic. I might take from him again
I was worried of taking his hybrid intro to lit class, but now I'm glad I took it! I don't really agree with his reviews, because he is willing to help, but really wants you to branch out on creativity. There's weekly online work, but quite interesting and not a big deal. But don't wait last minute to do it! Like 6 shorts stories & 1 play we read.
Friendly, helpful, funny, easy going, challenging in a good way, good control over the class, easygoing, just anything good you can think about a teacher, that is THIS MAN! However, if you happen to have social anxiety, there is a fair amount of group work, going in front of the class, and sharing things you have written. 10/10
Professor Snart is awesome. He is not entirely structural, and that's what's so beautiful about his class. He's purely interested in knowledge and true education. He swears, too, which makes him more of a human. He doesn't have favorites; so do your work and you'll get a good grade- he's fair.
Don't buy the book, just use the free trial on the site for the whole semester. Class was half online but instead of classes we would have a conference for 20 minutes. Only one written assignment and then projects of your choice which is really awesome. One bb post a week mostly reflections. Teacher is nice.
I took his english online course, and it was awful. He does not realize that you can be a full-time student and have other work as well. I am a pretty good student, and a good writer and right off the bat he grades very tough and he is kinda rude when he leaves notes. Literally reteaches things you learn in high school.
Nice guy. Cares about his students and wants them to do well. He is kinda a tough grader but there are plenty of completion points flowing into the grade book. There are lots of group projects. Very little use of the textbook. If you spend about 1-2 hour(s) per week outside of class you should be fine.
If you have a chance to have Mr. Snart as a professor do it because he is GREAT. His class consisted of very modern updates on traditional assignments (such as making website based on a topic that you researched vs a research paper), which was refreshing. The only downside of the class is that there are several group projects.
Took the class on-line Summer 2017. Very straightforward with his expectations. You must meet the on-line timelines for papers and discussion boards. Gave good feedback and took an interest in what I wrote. Do the work and you will do well.
This Poetry class felt more like a tutorial for various web-based tools. Early-internet geocities style page creation, google docs editing, uploading youtube vids etc. No central forum to post work and discuss. Passive aggressive attitude in videos if someone mixes up the vague instructions. Complete waste of time and money.
Professor Snart was a great professor. Really tries to get students to think outside of the box and be more creative writers. Doesn't have a strict grading rubric (doesn't have one at all). He has a great personality and gives plenty of time for work to be done. Definitely recommend taking his class. (Bonus: you don't have to read much)
I took this professor for 1102 Honors English and the class was a hybrid. With that being said he did assign homework every week, but the homework is not hard it's self explanatory. We did not write one single paper in this class. The class revolved around projects. He is an amazing professor. I would take him again if I could.
Snart is a nice guy but I am not a fan of his teaching style. His projects are super vague and out of the box. However he is an easy grader. As long as you turn your work in on time you'll get an A.
Prof Snart as a guy is great, but I just didn't like his hybrid class that much. The entire thing was group projects and it was sometimes hard to tell exactly what the homework was. I'd recommend him for any other class except the honors 1102 hybrid I took.
There were only one or two assignments a week, with replies due to the discussion board two days later. No quizzes or exams, one midterm group project, but he chooses the groups and we did ours all online and pretty independently, just combining them at the end. Seems like a really good person.
The way Snart set up his online class was very confusing. The way we had to submit our homework took about 5 extra steps than necessary. I would not take this class again.
Hes not a bad professor, but hes a little sassy. The entire class is just 3 group projects. Not super hard, but he grades creativity more than the actual assignments, so if youre not that creative, hell deduct points. Kinda weird. Hybrid class is way too much work, with lots of unnecessary steps to submit your work. I didnt really like him.
This was my favorite class so far. A lot of creative collaboration and group work which makes for a fun and comfortable atmosphere. I learned so much and felt completely immersed in the material. I can understand why some people refer to him as sassy because his feedback can be a bit blunt at times, but its constructive and helps you improve.
Snart teaches English in a new innovative way than most. Instead of writing papers to cover learning targets, we do a semester-long group project to cover those targets. At first group projects may scare people but it is well developed that you will admire what you create at the end. Nobody should get less than an A. Take this teacher.
He was a great teacher, the assignments were really easy, easy A!
Professor Snart is awesome. I had them for Brit Lit this semester and they were an exceptional teacher. Professor Snart will always help you understand the material and pushes you to expand your thinking.
Prof Snart knows his stuff, loves his subject & is creative in his assignments. His 5-week class was enjoyable, even for a non-poetry major like myself. It's no blow off class, but you still have plenty of time to enjoy your summer. Responds to Q's next morning. He grades based on effort. So don't rush through HW, respond to more posts & get the A
Run far away from this professor. Deducts so many points for creativity but fails at understanding that not everyone is creative. He'd rather have a sassy attitude than help you become better. I regret taking his class. Just bad energy all around!
He has the worst attitude. I literally don't know how he got 3.9. He's not willing to help at all. This whole semester has been a nightmare.
I took Snart for Poetry over the summer. The workload was super manageable, we read & analyzed interesting poems, engaged with the material a lot, & created some of our own. For discussion posts, share a lot; he prefers long & in-depth posts. He uses Padlet which is very simple and intuitive. His short lecture videos explained assignments clearly.
A waste of my time and money. I wanted to find another composition class that was more up my alley. He told me not to do so, to stick it out. Now my academic honors is shot and I hated the class. An email is hardly a composition! I also don't think that coming up with an annotated bibliography for an email is necessary and was just busy work.
Took him for a 1102 5-week online session, amazing professor. All the course content is easily accessible, all the directions are clear, he's easy to contact, and you'll easily get an A as long as you show that you put effort into the class. 100% recommend
Good prof, he was very accessible and accommodating. I definitely learned, the only difficult part was staying on top of all the material, as there is a lot to read and then write, especially for an online 3-credit course. Discussion boards matter, stay on top of those if anything else! Was fun
I love him. I had him two other times in different classes. He's my favorite professor so far. He's very accommodating, understanding and funny to the class. He's like doing group activities which are fun - Coming from an introvert
I heard from other students and even staff that Prof Snart is a tough grader, but I did not experience any issues. I got 100% in creative writing. Prof Snart was very understanding. I liked the structure of his class, and the assignments were fun.
Prof Snart is very kind and approachable. The only reason I ranked his difficulty as average is because theres a lot of work and reading to stay on top of but the work itself is not difficult and 99% of the readings are poems. He's understanding about late work and accommodating to students' schedules and other classes so long as you reach out.
Good Prof, easy B. Answers emails fast.
Professor Snart gives great, constructive feedback on all assignments throughout the course, and is always there to answer questions through email or online discussions via zoom. His email response times are remarkably quick. I'd say he's probably the most dedicated professor out of all the professors I have had so far. Sincerely, Alex K
Prof Snart's class was really engaging. The workload was manageable, and the Padlet discussion posts were a great way to connect with the material. I found Unstuck AI super helpful for prepping - it saved me a lot of time.
