Very down to earth and very intelligent. Lectures are involved and the class time flew by the entire class was active in conversations. Great experience wish he taught more classes

This is a READ heavy&class discussion thing so DO that&you will be great. NOT about agreeing, about understanding be ready to give reasons why not just argue. AMAZING convo in every class, super funny Prof. makes the readings simple to get. TAKE NOTES to survive midterm and final, he gives vocab needed!DONT get up &leave b4 dismissalits rude.

(Ethics). Online. No textbook. Lectures are optional. Class discussions are simple. It's a very easy "A" as long as you do the readings and take notes. No multiple choice; tests are short essays. Small writing assignments with low word counts. Deadlines are somewhat flexible. Material is not difficult or overly time consuming. Recommended

Professor wants weekly participation on discussion board, a personal post and frequent commenting on other classmates. Papers are 1,000 words (easy A graded on the ideas and understanding of the subject, not grammar or technique) Turned out to be an awesome class and very interesting. Easy extra credit available weekly.

Prof. Southworth is a really good teacher and forces you to think on discussion board posts. I got a C in the class, but I was lazy because it was an online class and ended up forgetting about many deadlines and did not plan adequately for time to read.

Discussions every week, participation is a must. 10 Quizzes, and 3 exams; all are essay questions. 3 Papers, which he grades generously. Overall, the class wasn't bad, but the amount of reading and memorization required was brutal. There are no exam study guides, so you need to remember all of the readings and be able to explain them thoroughly.

Honestly, this class changed my life (positively). The class is really interesting and fun, but you really have to read the textbook (like seriously). As long as you read, go to class, participate, and do the assignments, you'll get a good grade. Also very accessible outside of class, quickly responds to emails, and great at answering any questions

Prepare to read! He gives a list of excerpts to read and every week there is a discussion, and a combination of a quiz and outline, or a quiz and paper. There are 3 papers, 6 outlines, and 10 quiz based on 1 random story out of possibly 10. There are 4 exams, each exam is based on 5 random excerpts so take notes each time you read.

Took Southworth for Ethics and he is really good! Get ready to read and think critically. I took him online and finished the class 3 weeks early with an A. Stay on top of every assignment and you'll do good!

I was very lucky to have this professor. He makes it a point to ensure that everyone has a clear understanding of the reading. I actually found this class quite fun and an eye opening experience. He is generous with grading the papers, which I find a life saver in this particular class (Philosophy) where the answers are not exactly black and white

Loved this class, he made it very easy to understand and he was very involved in the discussions.

This class wasnt difficult its just a lot of work. Lots of reading and lots of writing. But not hard. Have to do 3 1000 work papers.

he was good in the sense that his class was structured, it was organized and you get the hang of it within a week or so. I took it online, he gives you about 6 passages to read and the quiz is on any one of them (doesn't say which), it is also written not multiple choice (never got less than a 100). AS long as you do the work, you are set for an A.

Initially for the first few weeks I encountered fluctuations in my grades especially when I do not read the assigned readings. But eventually I have found that with the understanding of the material offered and placing your mind in a philosophical thought direction , the class can be passed. The professor is tough but it made me think better.

With any online class, you are going to have you will have a crap tone of reading. You cant get around it because you have quizzes and tests. He is a great professor but is not going to hand out grades that are not earned. I worked my tail off for this class. He was very quick to respond to any email I sent. I recommend him but be ready to work!

This class requires a lot of reading. All tests/quizzes are from material he supplys so no textbook needed. Pretty easy grader, as long as you put in some effort and reply to the discussion boards you should be fine in this class. You wont know what articles are on the test so you have to read them all. Kinda Time consuming but easy class.

I found this class to be one of my hardest classes yet. Only because the book (used HEAVILY) has the old ways of grammar and the way the great philosophers wrote. It takes many read-overs to really understand. I do believe Professor Southworth knows the subject very well. Also he does grade tough, but I've found him to be helpful if you reach out.

There is a lot of reading and you will have to write a coupe outlines. There are also a decent amount of quizzes. It is a good class if you are able to learn on your own but he also responds quickly to emails. I would take this class again.

The material was not very easy (some are old english), but you get to read a chapter (5-6-excerpts), write an outline of a chosen excerpt, 15 min quiz about main idea of a specific excerpt and an active discussion board - weekly. He is very knowledgeable and will help you understand "old english" if you have hard time comprehending. TAKE HIM!

This was my second time taking a class from Jason. I like how the class is set up (NO EXAMS or PAPERS!!). Every week there is a discussion board, a quiz and an outline. There is even an extra credit paper at the end of the semester for people who didn't do all their work. I learned a lot and the schedule meant I didn't have to stress out.

I had to take this class for my pathway and I thought I would hate it. The material was interesting though and Southworth was fun to talk with on the boards. Hes talks a lot about meeting us where we are. The people who wanted to work on things got lots of feedback and help and people looking to check out got to do the minimum. Nice atmosphere

This class was really enjoyable and I personally learned a lot and the professor was really understanding and gave me great feedback on how to improve and was open to any questions or concerns I had! This teacher definitely cared about his students, and would definitely recommend this class to others.

Professor Southworth is hands down the best professor Ive had so far throughout my (multiple) college experiences. Hes understanding, professional, and truly cares about his students. When I went through hardships during the semester, we worked together so that I still had a chance to succeed in the course. Would recommend to any and everyone! :)

Professor Southworth's class is great. The class layout is clear and grades are always posted quickly. The material is interesting and thought provoking. The Professor has a lot of patience with questions. The class can be challenging which made it even better.

Professor Southworth class was fairly challenging, consisting of 3-5 readings, one 15 minute quiz, and 3 posts on the discussion board weekly. Professor Southworth is quick to respond to emails, and flexible if your outside schedule conflicts with your performance in his class, as long as you tell him in advance. I highly recommend this Professor.

Mr Southworth is one of the best professors I have ever had. He's very understanding and caring. He worked with me on late assignments and even gave me credit for work that was turned in so late, that it barely had any point value. The lectures and discussions are very interesting and not that hard to do. I would definitely recommend this professor

This is a somewhat easy A online class ONLY if you put in the effort to do the work. 1 paragraph discussion question (can come off argumentative when he replies), 1 paragraph quiz on an extremely boring article, and 1 outline paper due each week. He actually reads and leaves feedback for everything so don't bs/copy your answers.

The course was easy to pass if you read the material. The professor is very responsive and understanding. Offers extra credit. Gives good feedback. You can turn in work early if you choose. You have to read a decent (not ridiculous) amount but it's an online class. No textbook required, he provides all the material. Would definitely recommend.

I took Professor southworth's online philosophy class. He's a super easy grader. Literally do the work and show you somewhat understand the concepts and he gives you full credit. His tests are all open book. If you didn't pass his class you literally didn't even try. He was extremely helpful through the whole course. Take him!

I was so glad I took this professor, I learned a lot and I felt like I was graded more on effort and interesting conversation than arbitrary nonsense. The class was easy, not because it's not work, but because the work made SENSE. If you're trying and participating, you'll do great.

i really looked forward to this class everyday. it was my form of self-care. learning about the way our minds work is truly a wonder. new lesson every week that consists of a simple discussion board, outlined summary, and quiz - all super easy. you have the week to complete it. communicate with the professor, he literally WANTS you to succeed.

Very easy and Interesting class. Discussion post weekly. Assignments are repetitive but easy. Leaves good feedback on each assignment. Would definitely take class again.

He was nice and grades very easy. An outline which is a review of any article he puts up, of course I always chose the shortest ones, and they only have to be 250 words. A 1 question test, and a discussion board every week which is always about your opinion. Easy grader even when my outlines were poorly done he still graded good. Take this class.

To be honest, this is an easy A+ class, simply do the homework, don't be lazy, and turn it in on time, but every week will be an assignment to do so beware of that, honestly it's super easy and you will pass this class. take this class you won't regret it at all!!!

I had him for my first dual enrollment class, and he was great. The work was not that difficult and as long as you read and participated you got an A. He assigns a lot of reading each week but no or of them were difficult to understand.

I really enjoyed this class. I learned a lot and he was very available on the discussion boards and over phone/email.

I'm taking this course now. It's my second time taking professor Southworth and I wish i could take him again. The material is always interesting and he is very available to work through things.

He's available all the time, he lets you call him on weekends and he'll help you with the assignments. He explains things really clearly and is funny, you can tell he likes talking about philosophy.

This class was great. The material was interesting and the instructor is very available. Anytime you have a question you can call or email and get a reply very quickly.

He's my favorite professor I've had since starting college, I would definitely recommend taking his class in person, not online, because you're definitely missing out on his funny lectures. Just don't use AI and read the articles he provides you with and there you go you've passed.

Professor Southworth is amazing. He was very nice all course and gave 3 assignments per week which were extremely easy to complete. I recommend if you're looking for an easy class with no stress. This was my first DE class and found it very easy and not very time consuming.

His online class was easy. Took it in summer term. No midterm and no final. The paper essay is optional for EC. His feedback would literally be a few words like "Great post". I wouldn't mind. Only difficulty I had was the readings. Some of the modules had long readings and were difficult to understand. Other than that, I would recommend the class.

The work is straightforward, will not drown you, and isn't demanding. Participation is emphasized for the sake of discussion posts, but otherwise the class is light and easy to complete. The easiest professor I've come across so far. I 100% recommend this prof for this class.

I took this course online. He is a good professor, and the class is easy to follow along with. The only downside was that he had our grades hidden the entire course, but other than that, I would highly recommend.

Professor Southworth was amazing throughout the course. Even though it was an express class, he stayed engaged with students and communicated through Canvas. Assignments were clear, academic honesty mattered, and showing effort and care for your grades truly counted, which made the class feel fair and rewarding for everyone involved overall :-).
