He makes things 10X harder than need to be and doesnt explain things very well, he is always trying to trick you. He has a weird grading system, (still trying to figure out how to get .2451 of a point). Overall, unless you are a chem freak, then I suggest you taking a different teacher. He shouldnt be teaching entry level chemisty

By far the worst teacher I have ever had! I have never seen a professor get confused over his own problem and just stare at it for 15 minutes. Does not have good teaching skills. He probably is a very smart person but cannot teach for the life of him. If you end up in his class, I hope you are a good reader because the book is going to be your way.

First of all I'm not giving Jason a bad rating cuz I got a bad grade, I got an A actually... but he's a MEAN teacher. He tries his hardest to make you feel stupid and he wants you to fail. I practically left his class crying every day cuz of the way he picked on me. I barely made it thru 6 wks of summer school let alone a full semester.

Dr Steward teaches his classes with powerpoint slides, not so much from the text. Homework is done online - theres some glitches. The material covered in class is rushed; if you fail to grasp a concept don't count on much help from this instructor. The tests blend concepts & seem to center on trickery. If you really want to learn CHM - not him!

Do not take this teacher!! The last thing you need is a teacher who makes chm harder than it needs to be! He doesn't explain things well, skips steps, favors the students who get 100's and the tests are nothing that we go over in class or on the homework. He makes fun of students and cracks jokes that are very offensive. Take Debbie Leedy instead.

Dr. Stewart is a fine teacher. All the previous comments must have been by freshman idots who never opened the book or just shouldn't be in this class in the first place. I took Dr. Steward for lecture and lab. He had excellent PowerPoint slides for lecture and helped to follow along during class. His lectures were sometimes disorganized though. We had some take home quizzes, online homework, and 4 tests over the semester. The biggest complaint was his timeline on grading. He takes a long time to update gradebook.

I took his summer 152 class, I was nervous about how fast it would be. However, if you show up to class, listen closely, and do the work you will succeed. He wants his students to do well, he loves being a teacher. Show the effort and he will be by your side the whole time. You're in college, it's time to work for your degree.

Dropped the first day because he said he never keeps up with his grading, and that he wouldn't post anything in advance for us to see until maybe the day before! We have other classes to plan for too! He makes irrelevant jokes and gets distracted all the time. You won't know your grade the entire semester, don't take chemistry with him!

Steward is honestly a really great professor. I took him for a summer class and I believe I really did learn in his class. He makes a lot of jokes and gets the class to participate and you can tell he is passionate about what he does. The material itself is difficult but he does his best, I definitely recommend taking him.

Professor Steward was a good lab professor. Straight forward on what he wanted with the labs. Very funny at times. Only complaint is the time things were entered in the gradebook.

Loved Dr. Steward's class. CHM 152 is difficult but he made it as simple and straight forward as possible. Has a good sense of humor. He posts review and practice worksheets for exams. Was always willing to answer questions after class/office hours/tutoring center. He likes participation and notices when students are putting in real effort.

Dr. Steward cares about his students for sure. He as well as students struggled with the Covid transition, but he absolutely understood the circumstances. His exams are TOUGH, be prepared to see new material on his homework assignment. I didnt get to finish my first in class exam! O chem is hard! Hes very knowledgeable! Ask a lot of questions.

Jason Steward is by far the worst Professor to take for organic chemistry. He takes so long to grade any assignments and his lectures are not helpful whatsoever with the homework or the lab assignments. He also gives tests that contain material that we havent gone over in class. He unnecessarily cancels class setting you up for failure. Avoid!

Currently taking Steward's 130 course and I would like to have him again next semester for 151/52. These reviews surprised me, as I enjoy Steward's lectures; Chemistry is hard but he makes it seem possible, plus he enjoys chemistry so it gets you excited to learn. In class quizzes, the exams get harder but pay attention and don't get behind!

He jumps around constantly/makes irrelevant jokes passing time/takes forever to grade(some people like)but I would like to know what I am doing right or wrong, sooner than later/is a light grader but I think it is because he knows we aren't learning/rambles then says"but you guys don't need to know that!" adding to confusion/I had to teach myself

I had this professor for my lab and he is absolutely amazing!! he gives small lectures in class before we begin lab which is very helpful. He is lenient and he allows for after school help. He understands we all have a life out of school. I would recommend taking this professor 100%

More of a lenient grader on tests and homework but will take a long time to grade. He is the perfect instructor for O-chem 235 if you are shooting for an A. Other instructors that teach this class are more extreme on grading. Just make sure to understand his homework as it is consistent to his exams. May offer EC.

As long as you're caught up in CHM, you'll be fine in the labs. Even if you're struggling, he'll help you out and give examples. This guy makes everything chemistry-related fun/silly. The only downside is that he takes points off every minute if you're late. Ex. 5 mins. late = 5 points taken off. In conclusion, I would definitely take him again.

Don't expect to know your grade at any point in the class. Took for both lecture and lab. 2 weeks before the lab final, I still had 12 ungraded labs. Going into the lecture final 1 1/2 weeks after lab final, I finally got all of my labs graded and the lab final result. The class is similar but graded on less. At least he is funny and teaches well.

This professor is very funny and his explanations are clear. He doesn't assign a ton of homework and I didn't even show up for most of the semester and I still passed. It's just a matter of actually understanding and doing the online assignments. The exams were pretty straight forward just make sure to learn the concept. He's a good explainer.

He's honestly a really nice professor; he genuinely tries to explain extremely difficult concepts as easily as possible. There are frequent quizzes, but they aren't too tricky if you're caught up with the material. He usually allows for corrections on exams that let you make up lost exam points. I honestly loved taking this class with him.

If you are ready for the most stressful time of your life, take his course. He will intentionally make mistakes to test your knowledge, which can be taken the wrong way as grasping the content of a difficult class is hard as it is. He will have a quiz for everything as he hates chatgpt and it is very test heavy. He also hardly answers emails.

Terribly unorganized. Grades never updated, lectures feel random, and the exams don't match what's taught. It's hard to stay motivated when there's zero feedback or structure. Chemistry is already tough, this class made it worse.

I found chemistry quite easy, and enjoyed taking lecture with Prof. Steward. I remember he spoke a bit about his time at university, but not too extensively. He made topics easy to follow for me. If you aren't a big math person, basic chemistry isn't terrible. Do know how to count and read graphs, though.

He clearly loves his job and is always willing to work with students if they try their best. He has lots of good notes with online practice tests and study guides. The information isn't easy but he makes sure to break it down for people if they have questions. He also makes sure everyone answers a question at least once.
