Best math professor I have ever had. He is absolutely fair. He genuinely wants his students to do well. He moves to quickly sometimes; however, he's patient and more than willing to answer questions. He will never waste your time. He treats you like an adult. If you want an A, do the work. I have so much respect for his teaching philosophy.
He's a good professor compared to others on campus. He keeps his lectures entertaining, gives in class notes that you fill in during lectures which helps a lot when reviewing for the tests. He gives a lot of partial credit on test questions as long as you showed your work. I got an A in the class. Show up to lectures, take notes, do HW, easy A.
Kept it nice and simple, clear instructions and also prints the lecture notes and hands them to you in class! Very simple and great professor, always willing to help, just reach out to him!
Professor Wang is an amazing professor. His class is easy if you do the work and put in the effort. There is homework and the tests are simple and straightforward if you study. He's really funny and lectures were never boring! Overall I really enjoyed the class
Best math class I've ever had! Professor Wang actually makes the math enjoyable and understandable. You can tell he really cares whether his students do well. His grading system is simple and you always know what to expect-when your homework is due, when the tests are, and what you need to study for them, etc.
Professor Wang was a good professor that a college student could ever have. He was able to give us a lot of importance to the subject, even if he wasn't very comfortable with how complicated it was. He was also kind, funny, and quite frankly someone who could I approach if I had trouble with math. He was also fair in grading, and I don't blame him
take him
amazing teacher! Really fun and a fun professor! He isnt very serious and rude like other professors but he is serious about his math and he does a very good job teaching! He gives you all the notes and you have to do is follow along and fill in the blanks He will answer any questions and wants everyone to pass!
Took him for fall semester Really great professor! Lectures are fun. He really connects with students and tries to get them ready for harder math classes. Would definitely take again.
His lectures were a little boring because he would over explain things. His tests are medium to difficult. He gives you a review packet to let you know EXACTLY what type of Q's would look like on the test, but there are little curve balls that throw you off the tests. He's funny, caring, good prof.. Kind of a fast paced classed, not 4 slowlearners
Literally one of the best math professor I've ever had. His lectures are already printed out so you don't have to spend time writing everything down instead of listening, his tests are very fair and he's open to answer any questions you may have. And he's pretty fun every day of class was very entertaining. Take his class! You won't regret it
Professor Wang is great! Math has always been a challenge for me, but professor Wang was super helpful! I took Math 31 in winter and I got an A! Don't get me wrong, I studied constantly, but his tests are very fair. Im taking him again for Math 20. He really cares about you wanting to do well, and is very helpful! I highly recommend you take him!
Favorite math professor of all time. He is so caring and really makes it known that your success in his class is his top priority. He makes class enjoyable with the use of humor and love for math. He is very welcoming and will not make you feel stupid for asking a question. Professor Wang is absolutely amazing you'd be crazy not to take his class.
Prof. Wang understands! I took him for winter semester and by the 4th and 5th week we were burned out and so was he and he totally understood how we felt and made class fun and we watched some YouTube videos for breaks. He also teaches in a way I have never experienced. He's the most perfect math teacher. Take him take him take him !
Wang is an incredible professor! He goes through every step carefully so that you fully understand the material and will go out of his way to help you at any time. His lectures are printed out so you never need a notebook. Hes super friendly, funny, and tries to get to know his students personally. Material is hard but he lectures well. TAKE HIM!!
His class isn't easy, but he is by far the best math professor I've ever encountered in my whole life. He cares about his students and has a unique personality! He makes you laugh, with interesting lectures. Also handsout lecture notes so you never have to really bring a notebook. TAKE HIM! YOU WILL LOVE HIM!
I took his class during Spring semester and must I say he actually made math fun. I am usually really bad at math but, he made the concept sink in. His lecture notes are amazing and his test is similar to his notes. He doesn't go by the book he does it all on his own which is nice because it is much easier than the book. He is super funny too!
Wang is a nice & funny guy but he's the worst math professor I've ever had. He gives out lecture notes, which is nice but his tests are diffcult and no extra credit. I don't think he explains things well & what you'll be tested on is never clear. A lot of the class dropped and I recieved my first ever B. He's okay but I wouldn't take him again
Professor Wang is a awesome guy and great teacher. He seems strict at first, but is in fact always available for you, both in and out of class. I think I went to office hours every week and he was always patient and willing to help. His gives out the lecture notes and tests look very similar. Go to class, do the homework, and you'll be fine!
Great at explaining difficult subjects in a new way! Homework and textbook are optional but recommended. No extra credit or study guides offered, but he was always straightforward about what he expects. Also gives partial credit in tests! Funny, engaging lectures that you can pay full attention to because he prints out notes for you.
his lectures are very clear and easy to follow. he gives out packets with definitions and problems, and we fill each one out during lecture. the problems he gives out in the packet are really similar to the ones on the test, so attending lecture is really important. overall very good and i would recommend him! the way he teaches is really clear.
hilarious professor who also teaches well
Professor Wang is hilarious. He follows strictly his notes which makes the material easier to follow
One of the best math teachers I've ever had! I am TERRIBLE in math and for once in my life it made sense to me AND I actually *gasp* enjoyed it all because of Wang. I failed math 20 the first time and was hopeless about passing much less getting an A until I took Wang! His class was the first time I've ever in my whole life gotten an A in math!
He is one of the most down to earth, hot and coherent lecturers in SMC's math department. I wish we had more math professors like him who bring math to life and make the subject relatable. If you're looking for a teacher to prepare you for the next level while making you work, consider applying for the waitlist-- his classss next semester are full.
Professor Wang has great personality! He provides you with notes that you just have to fill in which is also convenient and all the homework is online. These tests are DIFFICULT. The problems tend to be problems that are seriously advanced for what is actually taught, lots of curveballs. The final WILL be difficult, he is doable but good luck.
One of the things about Professor Wang that makes you want to take him again is that his lectures are very straight forward. Basically, whatever is on the lecture notes is similar to what you will see on the quizzes/exams. Beware that his ratings are mostly based on how funny he is, not on how easy he is. No study guides and no extra credit given.
Prof Wang is a hidden gem in the math world. After swearing I would hate math for the rest of eternity in high school I was very hesitant to take math again. However, he made the material make sense and was very clear in his lectures. I am so happy he teaches math 2 so I can take his class again!
There is a lot of material but Professor Wang was available for questions whenever I had them. He hands out lecture notes that are clear and he mainly uses those for his tests and quizzes so the book isn't 100% necessary. I wish he taught math 7 and 8 because I don't know what math is going to be like without him! 10/10 would recommend to anyone.
Professor Wang is a real gem. He makes sure that all of his students know the material he's teaching and is willing to re-teach it if anyone is confused. His tests are similar to his lecture notes (that he hands out and goes over together). Workload:4 exams & quizzes, lowest quiz & exam score dropped, online hw, and a final.
As an international student, I always get hard time to take any classes. Most Prfs in SMC listen your words, but Prf Wang really care of your math7. Even though Professor Wangs tests are not easy, and I couldnt pass the class. However, Ive learned a lot of things from his class. I have a goal. If I be a teacher, I will be a teacher like him.
Professor Wang is a great professor makes the class enjoyable and fun to be in. His lectures are fill in the blank which can be easy and homework is done at home from the book but you never turn it in. HIs test's are different from what comes from homework or lecture you either devote every second studying for them or you fail.
Professor Wang is the funniest professor at SMC. He was always friendly to his students and pleasant throughout the semester. He was always willing to help students that came to office hours. Be warned though, his exams and quizzes are on the harder side. Exams and quizzes are mostly based off his lecture note packets. Focus on the packets.
Professor Wang is by far one of the best professors I have ever had in my life. The course curriculum is rigorous and difficult but Professor Wang will be with you every step of the way. He genuinely cares for his students and wants them to succeed. If you are considering taking this course. Do it. I promise you will not regret it.
Very funny. Easy to understand his notes. His notes are crucial. Everything is on his notes. If you don't understand something always ask! Use his office hours!
Professor Wang is awesome! He has such a good sense of humor and tries to make an abstract concept in calculus relatable. His tests are not unfair but definitely test your knowledge on the subject. His printed handout notes are lifesavers. All I can say is: do not miss a lecture by any circumstance and use his office hours!
A bit disappointed, I was eager to start Math 7 w/ Wang. He seems like he knows the stuff but really falls flat as an instructor. His mannerism is immature, and his speech and the environment that he lays for his students makes me wonder if he even likes to lecture and teach students. Has potential but I would suggest to look elsewhere.
With this whole pandemic going on Professor Wang has been giving endless support to his students. I could not ask for a greater professor who is as kind and selfless as him. His exams and tests are based on lecture notes & homework (doesn't collect). I believe his notes are a blessing (since he makes his own) and he truly makes math enjoyable & fun
Professor Wang is a great professor, the best I've had so far. He's super nice and carrying to all his students, and has been a great support for all of use during these hard times. Not only does he make the lectures interesting, but he makes sure to provide help to any student that needs it. Whether I pass or fail I don't regret taking his class.
Professor Wang is undoubtably the best Professor Ive ever had. He really cares about his students and makes sure that no one is left behind during lectures. He is willing to explain anything multiple times without getting annoyed. And he has an talent to make even the most theoretical and dry subjects in math fun with his awesome sense of humor.
He's not easy but he is very fair! He has a true passion for Calculus & does everything in his power to make sure you don't just memorize, but understand it. During quarantine he went above & beyond to make sure every lectures were still engaging & that we had support in all areas. I am forever grateful for taking Wang's class, you won't regret it!
Even if you took Calculus before, it is not easy since he kinda grades you on his own way of solving problems. However, if you pay attention to class and solve textbook problems as he asks you to, then you would 9/10 succeed in this class! Grades are solely based on 4 quizzes, 4 exams, and a final, so definitely pressuring, but he is so much fun!!!
Hands down the best professor at SMC. Prof Wang looks out for his students. His class is not an easy A but he really prepares you for future classes. The guy is hilarious. Took him through the first semester of the Covid pandemic and he took every possible step to help his students still succeed & enjoy class. He cares about his students so much.
We transitioned to online because of COVID-19. Prof. Wang went above and beyond to make sure all of us were set up to learn from home. From doing wellness checks and making sure we had all the printed notes. His lectures were always entertaining and you can tell he cares bout his students. I learned more than I ever have from a math class.
Great Professor. Teaches the class through well made, easy to read handounts which are great study tools. Study his notes and do some practice problems from the book and you should be good to go. After all, it is math, but the grade you get will be based on the amount of practice you do. By the way, he keeps the class entertaining. Would recommend!
Hes amazing really. He not only cares about his students doing well, he also cares for their well being. Like which prof. does that!! Hes definitely not an easy A but he prepares you really well for his exams and quizzes! And please dont ever try to cheat he knows he just does. PS his lecture notes are life savers!
Cannot say enough good things about him! He is caring, humorous, and approachable. STUDY AND FULLY UNDERSTAND THE NOTES! He will never put questions on the exam/quiz/final that did not come from the concepts taught from the notes. Then do as many of the hw probs as possible! 4 exams, 4 quizzes (lowest dropped), and final. Go to his office hrs!
Professor Wang has been of great help during this pandemic. He has cared about every single one of his students like no other teacher has, he goes above and beyond. His class is amazing, he's truly passionate about Calculus and about teaching. His lectures are great, and the exams are fair. I highly recommend taking his class, you won't regret it.
Prof. Wang is the kindest person & professor you'll find; however, never mistake his kindness for stupidity, he'll know you're taking advantage of it. Amazing lectures. Goes above & beyond so that you can succeed. HW not collected but you'll need to practise A LOT, if you want to pass. Want an A? You better work b!. Britney said so.
I took Prof. Wang for Math 2 and 7 and let me just say, he's a real gem. Let me also say: this class is NOT an easy A, your grade is truly a reflection of how much effort you put into the class. However, Prof. Wang is the most caring and helpful professor I have had; he is there to answer your questions, and really wants to help you succeed.
Professor Wang is an amazing professor. The class uses notes that he makes, so you will have to print them out. He makes lectures very fun and entertaining and explains his notes very well. Professor Wang is very kind and truly cares for his students. Study his lectures notes religiously for the exams, as everything on the exam is on his notes.
Covid semester proved me that Prof. Wang is one of the best math professors. If you have the chance, take his class. His lectures are fun, which is not usual, and he makes sure that you understand everything. However, you have to work hard. Exams might seem hard, but they are fair and nothing that he hasn't worked on. He cares about his students.
Professor Wang is really one of a kind. He really cares about his students and has been a great help through this pandemic. I must say his class is not an easy A, however if you put in your hard work and study the lecture notes and do the homework questions from the book then you will succeed. Oh and I must say his class is really entertaining.
I have to say that professor Wang is unique among many. He truly cares about his students and goes above and beyond to measure they succeed in his class. Uses his own notes and makes the class fun and entertaining. Does not collect homework, but measure you do your homework. not an easy A, but if you do your work you will succeed in his class.
Took professor Wang during quarantine, which had it's own set of difficulties. He made sure that we have a lot of fun while also understanding the materials clearly. A true gem
Prof. Wang is awesome! He is very funny, and can be goofy during lectures to keep students engaged. Even so, he is tough, the exams are thorough an may cover everything that is included in the lectures. Optional homework, which I loved, because you can focus on what you need to improve. The final is tough also, so be prepared to know your stuff!!
Very caring. Wants to keep you interested. Loves to crack his world-famous dad jokes and will use his beautiful face to portray graph shapes and concepts. That being said, these can become distracting. Uses fill in the blank worksheets to teach. I don't like them, too confusing. I had to study a lot by myself from the book directly.
Professor Wang is one of my favorite professors at SMC. Actually I think he is one of the best math professors here. Please take him if you can. His tests are very fair, and a lot of what was on the tests were on his notes. He's also hilarious although he can get a bit distracted sometimes. His notes are all printed out and organized for you.
Most inspiring professor that I ever met. He is not only a great professor but also a great life coach who really cares for his student. His test is HARD but it is fair (from lecture and homework). This was my second time taking Math 7 at SMC. And, personally really enjoyed Professor. Wang's class.
Math is my most disliked subject & he was able to make something so painful so much more fun & interesting. I took 2C over summer during quarantine with no regrets, don't get me wrong, it still killed me inside but he always made class amusing & ensured we never felt surprised on test material. Wang is a real gem & hilarious. YAK IN THE APPLE TREE!
Cool. Down to Earth. Passionate. Fun. His lecture notes make the class so much more comprehensible and they provide a simple, structured way to study. Great professor. I would not say easy, but do-able. The only way you will pass is by actually learning the material, which he makes possible. Definitely a go for STEM students.
A professor who has shown on multiple occasions that he cares about the success of each individual student. Knowledgeable, welcoming, and overall a great professor to start your academic journey with!
Prof. Wang is the most patient and understanding professor out of the many STEM classes I've taken to date. He'd make sure that everyone has a grasp on a topic before moving on. His lecture notes are very helpful as it provides great guidance and structure to the class. Homework is not required, but I suggest you do them to do well on the exams.
He's a really good professor, He sometimes talks about current situations to keep the class engaged and focused and so it is not boring. He is relaxed as long as you give him respect. He loves to banter.
I took Math 26C in Fall 2020 with Professor Wang and it has to be my favorite class/prof at SMC. He is not only a funny professor, but is also very invested in each student. He makes sure that each student is comfortable with the information before moving on and explains the info in great detail. If you study what he supplies, you will get an A.
This was my second time taking calculus, decided to take Wang second semester totally regret it. I understand the concepts, go to tutoring, go to class and talk to other professors, then I get to the exam, am confident about it but fail. His grading makes no sense, he takes off a lot of points for the dumbest stuff. Do not take him.
Professor Wang is amazing! I always looked forward to his class even though math is not my passion. For notes, he has print-outs that you fill in in class which worked well for me. The class was very difficult(It's calc tho so that's normal), but he really really cares about his students. His class is so fun, but do not go in expecting an easy A.
Professor Wang is amazing! The lecture packets that he makes allows you to fill in the blanks for the most important parts that way you can really focus on the material being taught. He genuinely cares about his students and is always willing to help! My only regret is that I never turned on my camera all semester because I was eating XD (Hi prof!)
The best approachable and inspiring teacher under the STEM department at SMC. As long as you decided to study stem major, you'll already know that you have to put in work. Study hard, eat well, sleep well, make a good study schedule throughout the semester, and participate in the class. Then, you'll get a guaranteed A.
I took MATH 7 two years ago when I attended SMC. I have never seen a professor care more about his students than Professor Wang. He is one of the only professors that truly inspired and pushed me to succeed. The fact that I'm writing this review 2 years after I took this course should prove how much of an impact he made on my educational career.
Professor Wang really cares about his students and puts a lot of effort into making sure you understand the material. He's very friendly, never rude, and always willing to answer questions. It's still a difficult class, because it's calculus, but so long as you attend lectures and put in the time required you'll do fine.
Professor wang is a great teacher, and made my experience taking math both enjoyable and challenging. He gives out partial notes that you fill out during class that makes studying easier. Make sure you study because sometimes he can quiz/test you on a lot of material. If u want an easy A, don't take him! If you really want to learn take his class.
Professor Wang is an amazing professor who really cares about his students. He gives out packets that you fill in during the lecture which helps you stay organized throughout the semester. The only graded assignments are quizzes and tests, but they are fair (not easy though). This class is hard, but so rewarding if you put in the work.
amazing professor! very friendly, caring, honest, and funny. he also makes it clear he wants everyone to succeed. his lectures are laid out very clearly in packets. homework is optional but doing it for practice is helpful. its still a hard class with a LOT of content, so try to pace yourself
Mon to Fri. 5h of class per day. HW is really not difficult but very complicated. just a lot of methods to use it were required by the math department. totally useless. real practice should be done on paper which students need to do on their own. everyday ill waste 3 h on HW. and another 3h on reviewing. I'll have no life after I took this class.
Professor Wang is easily the best professor I've had at SMC. If you are looking for an easy A (business majors), then this class is not for you. But if you are willing to take this class you will be more than prepared for Calc. His teaching style is very, shall we say, conversational, making it a lot easier to pay attention and retain information.
Professor Wang is a person who actually teaches student for their future and makes sure that everyone is getting involved or not getting left behind. A class with Wang is never boring he adds information that makes the class more interesting and its all about jokes and learning at the same time.
Professor Wang is hilarious, kind, and a great teacher. His sense of humor kept lectures interesting and he taught the material well. Always shows how much he cares about his students. Keep up with the homework and study to pass. I didn't do well since it was one of my first college classes, but I would def take him again if I had the chance.
Taking Professor Wang's class actually made me like math. He will go to the ends of the earth for students. Lectures are super engaging and he thoroughly explains the "why" behind certain concepts/formulas which makes learning concepts 10x easier. If you want to pass be ready to do a LOT of the (optional) homework and study from lecture notes.
I loved Professor Wang and would recommend taking his course! It is truly hard, especially if it's your first math course in a while. He really makes you like math and find it enjoyable. Do come to his lectures, as they are always fun and material heavy. His grading is very fair, be ready to give your 100% and you will receive a good grade.
Wang is a very good professor and a super awesome person. His class is incredibly tough, however, this is to prepare you for higher math classes. He is super passionate about math which makes his lectures much better. His lecture packets are a great way to study and he is easy to reach outside of class. Don't be afraid of him the first few weeks.
I enjoyed Professor Wang's class, which combines fun and serious elements. He is strict during exams to ensure that you have grasped the material and prepared for future classes.
I really enjoyed Mr Wang's class & highly recommend it. One thing I'll say is that at first, he comes off as more intimidating and strict than he really is. He actually is very kind, caring, and understanding so dont be afraid of him lol! You'll have to study and spend time outside of class to do well, but it's not insanely difficult.
I absolutely loved this class. Yes the exams were tough and yes, the grade was only based on 3 exams and 3 quizzes+Final. But I have to say, I know so much more after going through this class. He is a big softie and understands that college life isn't always easy, so he makes his class time as interesting as possible. 10/10 professor, 8/10 diff.
You will go IN-DEPTH with the material, be ready to study, go to office hours & tutoring, talk to the TA, & do your best (that's all you can do)! Though it was a hard class, he's one of my fav profs; hilarious, understanding & doesn't judge based on your grade. Anything in lectures is fair game! Difficulty changes due to different learning styles.
Professor Wang is unlike any other instructor. He is very caring and was patient in answering office hour questions. He will make sure that every student can succeed, and often lighten the mood with some off-topic discussion. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT AN EASY A. He will make sure you do understand the material in his exams. Yet, still recommended to take.
You do not have to come to class, you do not have to do all the homework it is our responsibility. Wang is understanding and helpful. He is university level professor also college bar comedian. Last but not least Wang is the real deal. /WANGGANG/
Very hard exams, comparatively much harder than most of the other professors. If you're looking for a solid calculus foundation for math 8, 11 etc then it could be a rewarding course to take. Expect to spend the majority of your time on this class. Engaging lecturer and cares about his students. Perfect if exam difficulty was slightly lower.
Great professor with excellent lectures. Class could potentially be fairer by spreading out concepts over more tests, giving students a better chance to earn an A/B. However, keep yourself accountable and study everyday and you can pull off a good grade.
Professor Wang's Math 7 class is difficult and requires diligent studying to earn an A. Grades are based on 2 quizzes (10%), 3 exams (60%), and a final (30%). Homework is assigned, but not collected. His lectures are incredible—probably the best you'll find. Most importantly, Professor Wang is genuinely caring and helpful both in and out of class.
SMC is not known for a strong math department and Wang is no exception. Wang is hands down the worst professor at SMC. I do not say that lightly. He will take points off your test for every little detail he can find. His lectures and boring and he does not try and engage the students in any way. Whatever you do PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Prof. Wang prepares you well for the upper-level math classes! He's not easy and it's closed-book, closed-notes but he prepares students a lot bc he wants you to be prepared for ur future math classes and he cares a lot about his students!
Math 8 is not an easy class, no matter who teaches it. But P. Wang tries his best to prepare students to master the material, so they do well in the upper-level math classes. He doesn't give many A's and his exams are a mix of easier and harder problems, but his lecture packets are soooo helpful and he's a fair grader. Really appreciate him!!!
As a student who took Professor Wang's Math 2+2C and 7 courses, I recommend taking his classes. Having spent most of my time in the math lab, he truly cares for his students beyond regular office hours and communicates effectively. Assignments were completed through Pearson and exams were connected to the handouts he provided during lectures.
