He's new professor on this campus. He teaches Geometry for first year. He gives challenge problems on tests. You must listen to his lecture because he explains what do theorems mean that helps you understand a lot. If not, then either ask him or you won't be success in his class. However, his accent is fair. It's not bad for his 1 year professor!!!
HE does not explain things very well. He moves to fast, does not give any extra credit, i would not recommend him.
i hate math, but mr wong made it doable, hes pretty chill, and kinda funny. come everyday, do all your homework and you should be fine. ask questions. your grade is based mostly on your tests, but hes a friendly grader haaha, i recommend wong
Dr. Wong is great. Do your homework, and ask questions. He is very smart.
Very easy going. Says he doesn't give partial credit, but he does. Easy grader, very helpful and leniant, no god complex. if you aren't good at math, but don't mind asking questions, he is an awesome teacher.
Took Dr. Wong over the Summer. Great teacher and always makes time to answer all questions. If you're stuck, he will stop and make sure you understand before proceeding. I would recommend this teacher to anyone struggling with math.
Mr. Wong is an awesome professor! Pretty basic: go to class everyday, take notes, do homework, study for test. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Good teacher just make sure u study for the test and do your homework. he gives credit for almost everything as long as u do it. and very helpful. accent is sometimes hard to understand but he will repeat himself if asked and will not stop until u understand the material
His class was fairly easy.. Homework done online, short quizzes in lab, and his test are not hard at all they are for average student you still need to study tho.. The only cone I done was his accent is hard to understand sometimes but yu get used to it.. I find him easier that many other math teachers at rcc
Wong is a very good professor. I was caught off guard the first day of class because he looked so young. He is really helpful and he teaches in a way that makes it really easy to understand. I would definitely recommend him. The only negative thing about him though is that his accent is a little hard to comprehend.
This class shouldnt have been as hard to comprehend as it was with this professor. He goes way too fast and uses the same EXACT examples from the book in his lectures. No variety and has a really hard accent to understand. He assumes everyone can work at his pace and understand it. If you have trouble with math DONT TAKE HIM!!! beware.....
Though it is hard to understand him at first, he is a fantastic teacher. Many of the students failed because they blamed his accent, when in reality they werent even trying. He is very helpful and I highly recommend him! I received a B. :)
He is a super nice guy. The only thing I have to say is DO NOT take him during the winter session. The pace is way too fast and his tests are wayyy too hard. I know math majors that were struggling in his course. I myself have never received less than an A in many many years and this class was very difficult
He breaks down just about everything he does. Uses the exact examples from the txt book. Has an accent that takes a little while to get use to. Took him in the winter very fast pace (about 3 sections per day)passed with a C. Attendence is a must! Grades fairly on tests. Overall he's good teacher.
I would love to take him again. I should have taken him for Calculus 1A.
horrible teacher. one of the worst teacher I ever had in my life. horrible accent, horrible exam, horrible grading system. I should have taken seriously when people said hes new to teaching
Very bad professor. he is very inexperienced, and very stingy about grade. bad accent, only thing he does is explain examples from textbook. He didn't even tell me about written homework
not good. he needs to stick to teaching only elementary math. Do not ever take his calculus series. he is so inexperienced that students mess up exam for ridiculous reason.
He runs through a problem step by step for students and then has them try similar problems. While they do the problems, he walks around the room, looking for people who might be struggling and he helps them out. He makes sure his exams are understandable and fair, and he is fairly relaxed about homework. I would recommend him for MAT-35 to anyone
very good teacher. very clear. step by step. highly recommendation.
A bit hard to understand at times and very new to teaching. A really nice guy and sticks by the philosophy "the only way to learn math is to do it". I'm horrible at math in general and he helped a bit. He's an okay teacher, not great, but not bad.
i can write a whole lot than 350 characters about this teacher. in short, he is hands down the best math professor i've had. don't get intimidated on the accent, u get used to it. he is no bs style, straight to the point. no unnecessary things like anal profs. he won't give up on u if u still dnt get it. i got a A but i put my work in. take him.
Really helpful professor. You get used to his accent really quick so don't be turned away by that. It's not that bad. He is very lenient with homework and his test are EXACTLY what he says they are going to be (just like the homework). I really wish he were teaching 1C. I took him for 1A and 1B. Highly recommended.
He is very helpful. A lot of people couldn't understand him but I could just fine. Just attend his classes and do the homework, you'll be gold ponyboy.
He tries to make the class easier by pushing back test dates, but sometimes it's too far which makes it hard to learn new stuff and study the old stuff for an upcoming exam at the same time. There's a lot of homework for this class on webassign but test questions are more similar to homework questions from the textbook. Constant studying is a must!
does not take the time to explain much, he just runs through example after example. if you are to take one of his courses its best if you are some what familiar with the subject and are comfortable learning half of the material on your own. he is not organized very well either, definitely would avoid him as a teacher.
(MAT 52) Professor Wong has a predictable teaching style. It won't HURT you to miss a class or two. You don't need the book often, but it's there to look over a specific definition of certain methods. The tests are the same thing as the study guide, so make an effort to look it over. He doesn't like ending class early; that's my only complain.
(Math 52) Mr. Wong is a very good teacher, just make sure u study for the test and do your homework. I highly recommend his math classes.
This guy is literally the best math professor ever. He's always available during office hours and is SUPER helpful. Also has awesome jokes during his long lectures. I really wish he was teaching differential equations because I love this guy so much. I hope he remembers me as the annoying brown kid in three of his classes.
Amazing person and professor. Always willing to help and if you do the homework you'll be more than ready for the tests.
Class was easy to follow because I was familiar with the subjects from high school, without that knowledge it probably wouldn't have been as smooth as it turned out. Do the online homework it helps, study every once in a while and you'll be good.
Mr. Wong was my favorite math teacher ever. I'm being honest when I say I'm pretty bad at math, going so far as to fail pre-calculus. But Wong's class was fun, interesting, and he was very helpful. He also gives tons of examples, which was very helpful in making sure you grasped the concept of the math. Definitely would take again, loved that class
Dr Wong is by far the best math professor I have ever had at RCC. His lectures move fast, but he takes the time to slow down and help you understand concepts. DO NOT MISS CLASS. I can't stress that enough. If math isn't your strong suit, don't take the class during a summerwinter session. They move really fast.
Dr Wong is probably my favorite math professor ever. I was struck by his ability to explain abstract concepts easily. He likes proofs--he proves everything he explains-- which makes the course a lot better. All around good dude... Plus, he is very funny.
Professor Wong is by far the BEST math teacher that I have EVER had. I had to retake Math 35, but choosing his class was the best decision ever. He is extremely helpful and will make sure that you understand everything. Definitely study for the tests, and do the homework! He is also hilarious! I definitely recommend taking his class.
AT first I hesitated to take him because I was afraid that he might have an accent that I could not understand, but I am very glad that I had went for it. He is an awesome caring teacher. He lectures well and clear, he is very dedicated to helping his student to understand math, he's funny without trying to be funny, He knows his math like perfect!
i found his class to be very easy, If you attend class everyday and do your homework the test will be a piece of cake. i liked his way of teaching ,he's nice and helpful . i would definitely recommend him. i look forward to hopefully taking math35 with him
I am horrible at math and I was honestly not expecting to do so well in this class. Thankfully, Wong is GREAT professor. He's clear and easy to understand and is willing to help whenever you need it. He has a review/Q&A the class before your next exam and if you show up to that you the tests will really be easier.
Reading the reviews for this teacher i thought the class would be helpful and easy seeing as i wasn't that good at math anyways, but that was wrong. I was better learning the curriculum on my own, helpful sometimes but not really ask questions you'll get the same result. best to study for the exams that's really what makes or breaks your grade.
Professor Wong was able to break down calculus for me in a way that was clear and understandable. The way he taught gave me confidence in that I knew what I was doing. I no longer feel intimidated by calculus. In the winter tests are worth 90% and quizzes 10%. Tests are tough but focus on lec notes and past quizzes when you study and you'll be ok.
One of my favorite qualities is that Wong is fair. His tests aren't surprises where the questions are unbelievable or in anyway unfair. If you do the work and study, the test will be a easy and you will be rewarded for understanding the material. He doesn't curve but he will occasionally put extra credit on a test. One of the best math professors.
great professor! never had a math teacher as great as him. I am taking him for math 35. I recommend him to anyone who needs math 52 and math 35. he is beyond awesome. extra credit is given every homework assignment. and his pretest is practically the test. HE IS A MUST TO TAKE FOR MATH.
Amazing math professor. One of the best professors I have ever had. Don't miss lecture. He takes attendance. It is easy to fall behind if you miss. Do tutoring, math lab, office hours, and SI. Focus on tests as they are the majority of your grade. Do every extra credit opportunity. Also his accent is not bad and he is very funny and super nice.
Basically an amazing professor. He teaches in a calm manner, is attentive, understands that math may be difficult for some, and does his best to make sure you understand it all. Don't miss class!
Professor Wong is probable one of the best math professors I've taken compared to other ones. I took Math 52 and Math35 with him and he made me love math once again. He is very clear on his lectures and makes sure everyone understands the material. Great professor!
Professor Wong is the best math professor I've ever taken. He has a bit of accent but after like 1-2 classes you don't even notice it anymore. Very good at explaining the material. You can take a test on a friday and have it back and graded on monday so you aren't stressing for a week about your grade. Awesome professor.
Honestly one of the best teachers I've ever encountered and my major is math heavy so I need a reliable professor to make my way through. He takes his subject seriously but still has fun and even manage to make the subject more fun. Very lighthearted approach to mathematics and mostly his test review reflects whats on the tests.
Online homework, goes over any problems you had difficulty with in class the next day. Lots of note taking, but worth it. Explains math problems very well with real life examples. A lot of "math" jokes, some are ok. Has my recommendation.
Great teacher always helps and makes sure you understand the material
Professor handles everything during lecture and answer questions well. I like that he allows for the class to do the work and will walk around making sure everyone understands.
This class allowed me to have a solid foundation when I took Math 35.
He's pretty chill. Everytime he enters a class, he asks if we have any questions. There's a reasonable amount of homework, only like 4 tests throughout the semester but most of final grade is based on these tests. Like 60% tests, 10% homework, and the other 30% he knows what to do. He's a fair teacher. Being real, math is a subject we HAVE to study
Professor Wong is so passionate about making sure his students understand the concepts. He made a Youtube account and uploaded lectures. His videos became very useful when the final was approaching. Study, ask questions and go to the math lab. Engage yourself in the lectures and don't skip class. He's a very fair grader if you work for it.
Professor Wong is by far the BEST math professor I've ever taken. Because of him I actually like math now. He's really good at explaining the criteria clearly and easly. First thing he ask for before any class session is for homework question. He cares more about you understanding the criteria.
He is a must! You wont regret it. Hes so clear on what he expects and wont throw tons of homework assignments at you. What he teaches is exactly whats on the test. Amazing professor!
Amazing professor, explains everything really well and has a clear understanding of what he is teaching. Make sure you study and do your hw and wou will be good.
He's a little quiet at first but once you can hear him everything is all good. Great professor, and quite funny as well. His tests aren't hard at all, and fair. Nothing unexpected. Make sure you do your homework, it will help a lot on tests.
He's an amazing professor, it's very much a test heavy class but he doesn't throw any surprises on the tests or anything he doesn't think we can't do. He's a real cool dude, and also makes sure we are understanding what he's saying by starting each lecture asking if we have any questions or confusion on a topic.
Mr. Wong is very straight forward! You wont regret taking his class!! Took math with him and got a B whereas in two other occasions I got an F with other professors. He is a MUST!
I took his class in Winter 2018, and it wasn't a hard class for me even though there was a lot of new information. He dropped your lowest test which helped to improve your grade. He sometimes had "quizzes" at the end of the class and it was easy. He is cool and hilarious. Highly recommend
By far the most amazing math professor I have EVER taken. He is very approachable and he truly believes in his students. It may feel okay to get a bit lazy in his class due to the optional homework but, make no mistake, you earn your own grade in his class. Do the homework, ask questions during and after class, and study hard to pass the tests!
Professor Wong was fantastic. The last professor I took for Math 35 was terrible, didn't answer questions and didn't care at all. I received a D in that class. I took the same class with Professor Wong this semester, and thanks to his great lectures, his helpful and caring attitude, I was able to get an A in MAT35 this time around. Great prof!
He has seriously changed over the years. Tried taking him for 1A during Winter and wow! First test was straight forward, the 2nd one the whole class did bad. Too much homework and not everything from it is even on the exam. Next thing we knew, he was rushing sections just to test us on them in 2 days! He was having difficulty with his own examples
Mr. Wong is a great instructor, he goes pretty quick which is a challenge, so you definitely have to be on top of studying your notes and you cannot miss a class or you will instantly fall behind. He has a great attitude and makes learning fun. Math is my weakest subject, yet I passed..
All he wants is to see his students pass. Homework is optional. Extra credit given everyday. He makes sure you know the lecture before moving on; he wants to help you out as much as he can. You are able to rewrite your test answers for extra credit on test. You are also able to miss up to 5 classes before getting dropped.
Professor Wong was great! He's a funny guy that just loves math. He does participation points but adds them as extra credit &only has 3/4 exams,no quizzes. Exams are very straight forward& very similar to notes & homework. He will step back & re-explain things if students are lost! But if you miss class, you will definitely get behind
Take this man for calculus! He gives you a great foundation and explains things simply. He is also pretty funny. Study his notes thoroughly. He offers exam corrections and a surprise for those who make it to the end. For exams, pay attention to in-class examples. Exams are 60%, final is 30%. Hw is optional. I'm not good at math, but I pulled an A.
The best math professor I have ever had. I have never been a math person, it takes me hours and hours to understand a concept. Took his differential calculus class during winter intersession (6 week class) and earned an A. If you attend the lectures, do the homework, and take good notes there is no reason why you can't earn an A as well.
I basically had to teach myself TT. He doesn't have live lectures and the lectures he posts are just him doing example problems. He grades quizzes and tests out of n/3. So basically if you get the formula wrong and get the answer right, he gives you 2/3 which is a C. He is the toughest math grader online and not forgiving at all. TT
Teaching during Covid-19 must be difficult, but at the same time it shouldn't be this bad. No live lectures. Grades tests harshly. Does not give feedback on tests. Does not explain topics thoroughly throughout his pre-recorded videos. I wouldn't recommend going with this Professor.
If you need to take stats during COVID online I highly recommend. Quizzes and test are very few points so every point matters but the class was laid out very nicely. Quizzes tell you what chapter it is on and the lecture videos were nice and precise. I took in winter course and wasn't stressed with this class. Highly recommend!
I HIGHLY recommend this professor. I failed mat12 TWICE before taking Professor Wong's class-Winter. I ended up getting an A in his class. His lectures are VERY clear & helpful. He is specific while explaining as he does the examples. He uploads videos on time. Quizzes & tests are multiple choice. No hw! He's chill & funny in his videos.
I took Professor Wong's Calculus 1 class after not taking a college math class for seven years. No doubt it was a steep learning curve but he was very good at explaining concepts to you in his lectures and making sure to go through a lot of examples from the homework. He grades tests on time, gives feedback, and responds to emails quickly!
This man should lecture his colleagues on how to teach. He understands the material well enough that it's not hard for him to have his students understand his lectures. It's math so put in the effort if you're weak at it. His tests will have you think so study hard. A lecturer at MVC was baffled at how he slipped through their interviewing process.
Professor Wong is probably the best professor for math hands down, he is kind, caring, and his level of teaching is the kind in which is understandable and easy to grasp. PAY ATTENTION and TAKE NOTES DURING THE REVIEW, or else you will not pass the exams, overall if you are failing, but you show effort, and do the work he will pass you! TAKE HIM!
he is a very nice teacher but he teaches fast its hard to ask for help in class because he always teaching but he does try to work with you he is very understanding
Would take again!
It's not that bad for taking sats online! He has his own video-recoded for each chapter plus his own notes to follow along. There are quizzes as well. There is 4 exam counting the final. For each, we have to use proctored(where we show our face so he can tell don't cheat)we can use our notes on his own video while taking the exam!!
Easiest professor ever! This was my final attempt to take stats and I passed easily with a B! No homework at all it is optional for your own benefits, one quiz each weak w/ one question & mid term/ final!
There were 5 things graded for the entire semester. This was attendance and 4 tests, including the final. Tests make up 90% of your grade, which includes the final. PLEASE SHOW UP TO CLASS. The only reason I got a high grade was that I attended almost every lecture. It is completely possible if you show up to class.
I disliked this class because of how many long videos you must watch. I took this class online to have the flexibility but each week there is around 3-4 30-minute to an hour video you must watch to keep up to be prepared for the test. Also, the tests are only open for one day, which is for any online class I found frustrating.
Professor Wong has to be one of the best Math teachers I've had. He teaches the material so clearly. He also tests you on what the lectures are about so nothing surprises you. He's very kind and caring. No homework is assigned. Lectures are a bit heavy. Quizzes are easy. Tests are a bit more challenging but not super hard. Lets you use notes.
GO TO LECTURE! he only grades tests and attendance! HW is optional but it is GREAT study material. if you can do the HW without notes, then you will do fine on the tests. quizzes are in class at the end of every lecture but it's just one problem from the lesson in order to sign out. fast paced lectures but explains material clearly and very well.
Professor Wong was the absolute best! I am not great at math but he helped me understand it day by day. He understands if you have something going on and will bypass your attendance for that. Would absolutely take again and highly recommend him for anyone.
Professor Wong is so funny and will help you if you need it. I hate math but this class was great. you NEED TO GO TO LECTURES or else you will not understand anything...do not miss one day fr!!! there is no homework or any assignments just tests which is annoying especially if you are not good at test-taking but you get a cheat sheet. very easy.
Most of the reviews on here are fake. Difficult Professor, and does not help with improvement. Bad grader, assigns lots of assignments. As a female, I felt really dumb in the class because I received no help. If you can, avoid at all costs!!
His lectures aren't bad... they are just long and it takes him a while to get to the main point. I swear sometimes he just needs to give the equation first before going into a deep dive about why we are using it. I had more help watching him solve the math equation examples than watching him teach it. Luckily his tests are easier than expected.
Prof Wong is a pretty good teacher, he is pretty lenient when grading the exams and drops a lot of the things by the end of the semester which will help your grade. The only downside is the homework, you have to find problems from the textbook and isn't worth very much of your grade. Grade is primarily dependent on exams.
Profesor Wong has been my favorite professor so far at RCC. He is so easy with his work. Fast talker tho so carefully pay attention and you will do amazing. He is understandable and will make the class work easy.
I would not take this class again. Did not speak to me in a professional manner👎🏻
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS!!!! He is so funny and very clear in his lectures. This was the first time math actually made sense and it's because of him! His tests are straight forward, nothing that surprises you. He allows cheat sheets, drops the lowest test score, and I didn't even have to take the final because my grade was high enough.
Took both MAT-9 and MAT-12 with this professor in which I received an C during fall for Stats and an A during spring for BSTEM Algebra. Professor Wong is very understanding and interactive. Attend class and take notes! He drops the lowest test score at the end of the semester, 90% of grade is tests. Great professor, wish I had him for Calc.
I would say not to take him for online, he becomes very power hungry and makes online tests impossible. if you guess on questions and get them right cuz you guessed he takes points away and also makes you talk the test out and you cant use your own notes. its manageable he just makes the class hard.
One of the nicest and funniest teachers I've taken, it feels impossible to fail his class because of how often we do practice problems step by steps during lecture. I never did any homework outside of his class and still got A's on every exam. Just go to class and pay attention.
He is super hard to understand, goes way too fast, and expects you to know things at his level. I dropped his class after he gave me a zero on a proctored exam for using handwritten notes and accused me of cheating.
He is the weirdest grader ever!!! I guessed on 2 questions on an exam. When I turned in my scratch paper for the exam, which is worth 0 points, he gave me -2.01 points on it all because I guessed on 2 questions. AND I GOT THEM RIGHT!!!! I could understand if i got them wrong to take points off, but that wasn't the case. Wouldn't recommend at all!!!
Mr Wong is an amazing stats teacher! He takes his time really teaching everything, and pauses to check if you understand. If you don't understand something, he phrases it in another way. I only got a C because i procrastinate and didn't put the time in! but he truly is amazing.
One of the easiest classes I've taken. He's pretty funny and explains most concepts clearly. There aren't many assignments, mostly in-class practice problems. If you struggle with understanding accents, this class might be harder, but I personally had no issues following him. His tests are what make up the whole grade so study!!
