Well, he's interesting. He doesn't teach you in the class, ever. If you have a problem, he'll fix your drawing by re-drawing it himself. He only helps people he knows. The class in its self is not hard, but don't expect to learn anything with him.

I liked him alright, easy to horse around with. Tends to whine about people talking to much. Won't let you use blending stumps or Ipods. Staunch in his techniques, tad arrogant. But he is very respectable. He dresses flaming though, and has blonde highlights. i had a lot of funny conversations with him, and some of the best drawings ive ever done.

wonderful professor. This was the second time in a row I took his class and he's great once you get to know him. one of his less desirable quirks is that he draws on your paper, so if you can't deal with that then don't take him. All in all he's a great guy and is a good source of information about traditional techniques and masters.

He is a very easy professor whose strength is clearly drawing. Therefore he teaches the class as though it was an actual drawing class. As far as teaching style goes: it lacks a focus of the subject reviewed in the chapter. There were times I felt that am ADHD chimpanzee with a feather boa on could have taught the class better--at times.

Mr. Jason is seriously a great Professor! If you have him for Draw100, its much easier to go in with a drawing background, but he made it very clear for those that didnt that drawing is a learned skill and they improved dramatically. He didnt grade anything until midterms to actually develop our skills & you dont get many projects, but its ok.

Absolutely loved Prof. Zimmers class! For life drawing, it was all studio time, lectures were brief, never exceeding 15-20 minutes, the rest of the time was for working. He is very kind and funny and will give you honest constructive feedback, one of the best professors I've ever had. My skills improved ten-fold taking this class with him.

Mr. Jason is a serious gem-- online life drawing has been a breeze with him, but I've taken every drawing class I can with him because he's just that great. An easy grader, understanding & an old soul. He's incredibly talented & really helps you when & where you need it. In lectures, he does circle the room and call you out if you need it. A+ Prof.

As a film student I had to work really hard to get that A-. No real homework however, which balanced out the difficulty somewhat. I had to come in on the weekend sometimes to wrap up projects. His advice isn't very helpful, but I came out of the class a better drawer. It's about practice, and in his class you get plenty.

Mr. Jason tries to make connections with his students, however his humor can be a little dry, but perhaps it's because I had him for an 8am. The class was graded by 6 assignments, so you do poorly on one you're screwed. If you want a class to just go through the motions in, this is the one. However, I definitely learned a lot and it was beneficial!

A great intro to foundation courses at SCAD. Even as someone with a lot of drawing experience, he taught me so many new things that I still use today. He was fun and relaxed, yet really informative. I hope to be able to have him again sometime in my college career.

He doesn't really take into account individual skill level and pays a lot more attention to students with more experience. He spends almost every class doing precritiques the entire time so classes definitely get boring after awhile.

mr. jason as he likes to be called has really dry humor and a dislike for phones and talking in class during work time. one of the most stressful classes I had. grading on work feels random when compared to other students in the class, and deadlines are unclear.

If you are already good at figure drawing, you could learn a lot from this class. However, if you are a beginner, RUN. He briefly explains what to do then expects perfection on day 1. He doesn't take personal growth into account and will grade you in comparison to himself and other students. If you want an easy A, this is not the class to take.

This class is a LOT of work and is not necessarily for beginners. While I had some experience with Life Drawing, it definitely felt hard to catch up to his standards because he expects a lot from his students very quickly. He offers great critique but be prepared to have to work really hard.

I loved this class. Professor Zimmer has a wealth of ability and the knowledge of how to bring it out best in his students. Homework is light if you keep up with it, and class time is mostly drawing from a model which is ideal. If you care about being a visual artist, and life drawing as it is fundamental for that, this class is a breeze.

I LOVE ZIMMER! He's so funny, and so skilled, I feel like you learn so much just by watching his demos. He broke down anatomy in a way that made it engaging but easy to comprehend. The assignment load sounds intense, but if you take initative and get ahead early in the quarter, it's honestly super maneagable. Will definitely take him again

Mr. Jason was a fine teacher for foundations drawing. He was happy and willing to help with projects 1 on 1 in class. Prepare to do a sketchbook outside of class. In class we did perspective, still life, Ink landscape, and self-portraits. He's a very sarcastic teacher with a sense of humor. Not a fan of phones but not super strict about it.

I loved taking Prof. Zimmer. He's such a chill dude. We drew real life models EVERYDAY in this class. He wanted us to draw realistically, but respected stylistic choices as long as they were proportionally correct. So sweet, and has dad humor. Understands budget, and the projects were fun. I would definitely RETAKE this class. -Illustration Major

Prof. Zimmer knows his stuff and has high expectations of how life drawings should be. These expectations really challenged me to learn and rise to the challenge. I learned so much and improved as an artist during the course of his instruction. My only concern for Prof. Zimmer is that he can be a tad unfair when he grades and can be discouraging.

I LOVE ZIMMER! We didn't have many projects, and the ones we did have were relatively easy and straightforward. He is not a grade-heavy guy and seems to be laid back in that regard. As long as he sees you put in effort and ask for help he will grade you appropriately. He gives dad vibes and tells a lot of jokes so pls laugh. He deserves it.

While I was occasionally irritated by the small number of graded assignments all of the homework and projects are so helpful for improvement and the whole class made huge improvement from the start to the end of the quarter. He doesn't give a lot of feedback so ask! And he's super funny, major dad vibes.

Zimmer is a good professor who mainly teaches through practice. You do learn a lot in his class, but 70% of you grade are decided in the last two weeks of class, which is quite stressful. This makes sense as you improve during the quarter, but it also means that those weeks will be a little rough, so beware. Aside from that he is great!!

Professor Zimmer is one of the best for Life Drawing. He's highly knowledgeable, charming, and truly cares about his students. The workload is lighter than other classes, he grades fast, and is very accessible. Just note—he will draw on your work to help you improve, so if that bothers you, he may not be the right fit.

The class is super easy and you only have a few assignements. He'll occasionally make jokes but they sometimes don't land. Don't show up a few minutes late, he will say "what do you mean the bus was late?", which i'm sure is meant to be a joke, but comes off condescending. Still, he does know what he's talking about though and gives good feedback.

Not the worst, and if youre just looking to get through the class and be done with it, Id recommend him. The workload is generally light, which I appreciated, theres a lot of in class gesture work that isnt graded. Youll improve drawing skills in his class just from the amount of practice, but not as much as you could learn from other professors.
