By far one of the best classes that I have ever taken. Professor Collazo is great at his job and is clearly passionate about his lectures. I would recommend him to anyone. You will not regret taking his class.
He is such an AMAZING instructor. If you have no interest in History, he will make it interesting. Cuba, is his topic! He makes himself available to help you if you don't understand. Record the lecture to make it easier. Test; essays, fill-in the blanks and short answers.
Best professor ever! He is passionate about teaching history. He has interesting lecture materials. He uses different ways to engage the class. I am not a history major but I would take his class again for fun! ELAC is lucky to have him!
Professor Collazo is honestly one of the best professors at ELAC, he is smart and highly educated. He cares about the class and wants you to pass, but he is not an "easy" professor, he is a GOOD professor. He is so funny and keeps it real. I like him so much I am going to take another history class, he makes it so fun and easy to want to learn it.
Professor Collazo is a really great prof. He honestly cares about the success of his students & makes the subject interesting. He tends to ramble, but overall hes pretty chill. Easy grader & approachable. If you dont participate you cant get an A so make sure you do. Group project is fairly easy. Quizzes are online & directly out of the book.
I was annoyed when my counselor said that I needed a US History class. My first thought was that History would be super boring. But Professor C was one of my favorites. Great lectures and he really cares. He wanted all of us to succeed. Before his class I knew a few things about history, but he taught the 'big picture' and made it understandable.
I have a bad memory. I was scared to take a history class because its hard to remember dates and names, but Mr. Collazo is a wonderful professor. He's passionate about teaching and he connected the past with current events. He stayed with us after office hours and he gave us extra time on the final. He really cares and wants us to do well.
Mr. C is the BEST professor at ELAC!!!
I HATE history but i LOVE Professor Collazo. He really cares and works to connect the past with teh present. you dont need the book. do the homework, participate, and pay attention to his 'hints' about whats on the final.
The lectures are great. Professor C is super smart and funny. Unfortunately, the assignments and part of the exams are essay-based. I'm not a good writer, but he is flexible with grammar. Also, he's always pushing to use the writing center, so that helps. Overall, great class. I would take him again.
He's my favorite history teacher. Actually, he's my favorite teacher! I learned so much about us history. He's funny and that helps a lot in a 3 hour lecture. He really cares so ask him anything.
His class is easy. Like literally show up and pay attention. He's very good at connecting the past with present events. His homework is easy. Read the assignment reading he gives if there's any and answer his questions. His quizzes are from the lectures. Ask questions and participate for easy points. Best straightforward professor I've ever had.
He clumps up a lot of information in every lecture. Hes also all over the place, meaning if hes talking about one thing, he skips and talks about ten other things, and then goes back to talk about what he was originally talking about.
Awesome!!! One of the best professors at ELAC. This is my second time taking US history and I thought i would have to take it again, but Prof Collazo is approachable and very nice. He real cares that you learn and pass the class. The lectures are interesting. He talks alot about the events outside of the US and how it influenced US history. Great c
Lectures are great! Expectations are clear! The final exam is challenging, but the review sets you up for an A. I strongly recommend Professor Collazo for any history class.
Professor Collazo is by far the best teacher I have taken here at Elac.. His lectures are clear and go in hand with the reading. He gives quizzes and writing assignments every week, but this will help you for the final.. Take him you wont regret it.. Make sure to record his lectures it will help you with the timelines..
Great history professor. He's clear about how to get an A. His lectures are interesting and he's funny, so the time passes fast. Record the lectures and go to office hours if you have questions. He's super cool about helping you get the best grade.
Looking to learn history with a passionate professor, then Professor Collazo is the one. He's smart, funny, and very kind. He stayed after class and we finished at 10 at night. Talk to him. He'll help you pass the class.
I took the 6 week class and we covered one chapter in each class. It was fast but if you go to the office hours then he'll help you do better. Hisotry is not my favorite subject but I have to take it to transfer. Take professor Collazo. He's the best. He really cares that you learn and that you get a good grade. He's talks about scholarhsips and ho
Great professor! Take him, you'll learn and have fun.
History is one of the harder subjects for me, but Professor Collazo makes it actually pretty fun. He cares about you passing so he'll help as much as he can. You earn points for participation; it's not much but at the end it adds up. Would definitely take another class from him.
Professor Collazo is a great teacher! He cares that you learn and he gives tips about what to study. He's not an easy A, but he'll help you pass. For sure one of hte best at ELAC.
I was going to write a review after I took another class with Professor Collazo, but he's teaching History 11 again this semester. Anyway, he's a great teacher! He's funny, smart, and makes learning easy. He talked to us instead of lecturing at us, so I felt relaxed when learning.
COVID19 sucks, riots suck, being all home all the time sucks, but Mr. C is awesome! He made this crazy time easier. He zoomed with us every week and kept pushing us to do good in all our classes. I wish every professor was like him.
I never liked history. It was just memorizing names and dates, so boring. Professor Collazo made it fun. It felt like he was telling stories. He made time to meet in Zoom and talk more about the class and the quizzes. Take him. He's great!
Straight forward class great professor no assignments just quizzes every week and a final make sure to check your outlook email thats the only place he communicates, I never checked that email so I didnt realize he actually gave zoom lectures until a few weeks into the class LOL besides that good class
I actually took professor Collazo last fall for the "half semester" which was fast pace since we covered a new chapter every time the class met. But I loved taking his class, I struggled with dates and times but he made it fun like a storyline so it was easy to understand and grasp. Also participation goes a long way with him :) He's great!
GREAT professor! I took the online class for US history 1. The lectures were recorded then shared on Canvas. The quizzes, midterm and final were open for a week each so we had time to review the lectures then take the tests. There were no surprises. He explained the syllabus on day 1 and followed it. Again, great professor!
I read the reviews on Professor Collazo so I took his class online. The reviews were right. He is interesting and fair. He recorded the lectures then posted the link in Canvas. All tests were online and we could track our grade in Canvas. He even gave us extra credit. This is a great professor! Take him!
I took history11 with this professor. He gave quizzes almost every week. All quizzes are times, 20 mins per 10 questions. Heavy reading. Your grade depends on those quizzes, mid-term (25 questions, some have more than one answer), and final. I would not recommend this professor if you care about your grade.
Professor Collazo loves engaging with students, which shows that he cares about our learning. His lectures are interesting and he uses a lot of maps/charts/graphs to visually show what he's talking about. I took the online class, so the lectures are pre-recorded, but he gives more insights during office hours. The exams are straight from lecture.
Took him as an online class and got dropped without warning for missing 2 assignments. Lectures are dreadfully boring and long, no interaction with students. He is responsive but there was no passion or effort in this class making it difficult to stay encouraged. Definitely will not take again.
Mr. C likes teaching and he breaks down the material so it makes sense. He knows we have other classes so he tells us what is due and when. Take him hes great.
I'm not a History major, but I had to take History 12 to transfer. Fortunately, Professor Collazo made the subject interesting. He teaches the material (dates, events, people), but also how to THINK about History, how to logically go from one event to another. Also, he's very clear on grading. Definitely take him!
I took the short term class for History 11. It was straightforward with everything online even the book. The book is free, the videos are on YT, and the exams are in Canvas. The syllabus was clear when things were do. Also, the professor was available every week on Zoom. Straightforward and easy. I would take another class with Profesor Collazo.
Professor Collazo is awesome! I took History 11 for 8 weeks asynchronous. The lectures are on YouTube, the book is free, and quizzes are open for a week each in Canvas. The professor was available on Zoom and answered my emails within 24 hours. The class was not easy, but easier than other online courses. I learned alot and I would take him again.
Professor Colazo's lectures are engaging. The quizzes are based on them. The book helps but he goes more deeply into the topics. Take him. He's great and fair.
This class is easy, but the recording lecture you have to watch are a bit lengthy, but other than that it's a very straight forwards class, this class is only about quizzes nothing else, so if you don't want a class where you do much work take him but make sure to take notes about the recoding's.
The class is not easy but not hard. The lectures are recorded on YT so I could see them whenever. I took the 8 week class so we had one quiz every week plus the midterm and final. There is a textbook and it was free download. The quizzes are based on the lectures. He has weekly Zoom office hours but also can meet 1on1. I recommend this professor.
Great class. The syllabus is straightforward. The lectures are recorded and lengthy, but it's college so I expected a deeper dive into history. Professor Collazo is available on Zoom and he responds to email within 2 days. I recommend the class and I would take him again.
Great professor! I've been out of school for a while and Hisotry was never one of my best subjects but this class filled in so many pieces. Also, I emailed the professor and he always responded with a full explanation. I felt he really cared about us learning. Some teachers lecture and if you don't get it then touch but Professor Collazo explained
I read the reviews before taking the class. I'm happy I did. I took the online asynchronous course. The lectures are prerecorded and posted to YouTube. His lectures are long but he presents the information easily. The quizzes are all in Canvas. He answers emails quickly and is available for Zoom meetings. Professor Collazo is great!
Mr. Collazo is awesome! His lectures are fun. He talks about history and compares the past with current events. I learned so much that I didn't learn in high school. He's very clear about the grading. He gives a great review before the final exam. Take him for history. You'll love it!
I took the online clss for History 12. Prof C is great! The lectures are long but the exams are straightforward. He responds to emails next day and is available for Zoom sessions.
I've been taking classes at ELAC for a few years and Professor Collazo is one of the best. He's clear about what's expected and his lectures are very interesting. If you want a great and fun class then take him.
I took the online class, asynchronous. Prof Collazo is transparent in the syllabus. I work full time so it's important to know what is due and when. His lectures are interesting. The exams are based on the lectures. The book is free online, but the lectures go into more depth. He's available on Zoom and he responds to emails quickly. Great class!
Great class! I highly recommend Professor Collazo. His grading is very clear and his videos are full of interesting facts.
I took this course online during the summer. The video lectures were long, but great! Professor Collazo explained history clearly and tied the past to current events. We had weekly quizzes, a midterm and a final. He always responded to emails quickly and submitted our grades the day after the final exam. Great class, great professor!
Best Professor ever. Would recommend absolutely everyone to take Professor Collazo. Makes class fun and is beyond hilarious making the lectures interesting. I look forward to his class every week, Online Quiz almost every week that are completely on lectures that are also posted in video form on Canvas. 100% recommend. Sets you up for an easy A.
Best Best Best professor. These reviews are absolutely right about him. Professor Collazo is hilarious and passionate. He makes learning fun. The exams are online and though he lectures in person, he provides his videos of the lectures through Canvas. He definitely sets you up for an A. For the midterm and final exams he reviews using jeopardy game
I LOVE HIM SM!!! He is one of the best teachers ever and very funny too!! He sets you up for success and does his best to help you in any way he can. My final grade honestly should've been a B, but he gave me extra points that way my final grade was an A. And his lectures won't disappoint you! They aren't boring at all!!
If you want to learn history in a fun way then take Professor Collazo. He really is the best. He's always in his office and he spends time with you no matter how long it takes. He takes the time to explan and reexplain things until you get it. He cares and i wish all my professors were like him.
Prof. Collazo is really kind and he will answer just about every question you have not just about the class but any question that also relates to history as well. Note: Watch the videos on canvas and pay attention to the in class lectures! You will pass the exams if you do so. He is very clear in his lessons and he also brings humor to it.
Professor Collazo is a great lecturer, he is also very caring for his students and is always welcoming his students to his office hours. He is very understanding, makes history fun and amusing, always gives people extra help. He offers extra support to students whether it is personal or academic he is awesome.
You will get dropped without warning if you show up even a second late...even if you've done all your assignments and are passing the class. Disappointing.
LOVE him! Professor Collazo really cares about his students. He was always at his office and would make time to review the quizzes and the lectures with us. Even when it wasn't office hours, he made time for us. He gave us extra points for "thinking through" the answers. He wants you to learn and he care more about the thought process than teh answ
He is so passionate about history which gets you to feel very intuitive about the whole process that happened in history. I would enjoy taking his class again. Enjoyable lecture. Except the parts where he is informing you about the system of Government. In my opinion.
History 12 was an online async class. Everything is in Canvas. He created videos for the lectures that he posted in YouTube. The textbook is free but I didnt use it. The quizes are based on his videos. He's super clear in the grading and he answers emails quickly. Also he's available in person even though its an online class. Great prof. take him
This class was great! It was short term so it moved very fast but Professor Collazo always responded to emails quickly and offered Zoom sessions. The syllabus was clear and the assignments were manageable. The textbook is online and free, his videos are entertaining, and the exams are straightforward.
Take him. The class was fast but doable. The lectures are him talking about the big picture and tying everything together. The quizzes are not easy but not hard. He uses Harmonize for discussing the primary sources. I would take him again.
He really cares. I'm happy he was my History teacher even though before I hated History but now i like it.
Professor Collazo's history lectures are a snooze-fest. With a monotone delivery and a shaky grasp on facts, his classes offer little educational value. Students are better off seeking knowledge elsewhere.
Professor Collazo's history classes are a disappointment. His lectures lack engagement, delivered with a uninterested voice that drains any excitement from the subject matter. His questionable grasp of facts leaves students skeptical, and his aversion to modern teaching methods only exacerbates the problem.
Professor Collazo is a great professor. His lectures are interesting and he's always available via email, Zoom, or in person. He often stayed beyond office hours and made sure that I understood the material. If I ever need another History class then I'm definitely taking him.
Professor Collazo is one of the best history professors at ELAC. He teaches U.S. history in a way that makes it easy to understand, even for students not familiar with American history. He is funny and he gives a lot of background information to help us understand why an event occurred. Also, I think he lives in his office because he's always there
The negative comments below are from Marcelo Barboza who got a C in the course. Professor Collazo is an excellent professor. This was a Honors course, so we had extra readings and a final project. The class was not easy, but it was fair. Prof. Collazo is smart and he was always available to us, even beyond office hours.
Great class! Professor Collazo is funny and he makes history fun to learn.
I'm transferring this fall but I wish I knew of Professor Collazo before this semester. He's awesome! His lectures were entertaining. He knows history but he teaches in a way that makes you want to learn. Also, he gives a lot of advice on scholarships, transferring, and other things to succeed at ELAC. Take him, he's great!
easy A lesson based on reading, quizzes are on what he covers no surprises.
Professor Javier Collazo is an amazing professor. I would have gotten a great Grade but I was not a lot focused on the lessons and reading. I would definitely do his class again.
The class was good. We had in-class quizzes and online quizzes, both based on the assigned chapters. The midterm and final were cumulative with no surprises. He gives a final review that covers most of the questions, so that helped boost my grade. Also he's funny. He makes learning history fun. I would take him again.
Great class! Everything is straightforward. The quizzes, midterm, and final are mostly from the book. A few questions are from the lectures, so watch the videos. Overall, great class and I would take profeossor Collazo again.
Very knowledgeable, lectures are fun and easy to follow, the quizzes and in class assignments are true to textbook and lectures. Is very Inspirational and cares about student's development and future. Quick to grade assignments. AWESOME PROFESSOR.
He's a great professor! His course this semester includes quizzes, a midterm, a final, and participation points. The quizzes are simple, and the midterm was straightforward, covering lecture material. The final has an essay and multiple-choice, but I expect it to be manageable. No lockdown browser either. Highly recommend taking this amazing class!
GREAT COURSE!!!! I had to take a history class for my ge and I read the reviews on Prof. Collazo and they are right. He's awesome! The lectures are interesting and i learned about us history. He responds to emails quickly and actually answers my questions in full. The syllabus and grading are straightforward. I would definitely take him for another
Professor Collazo is very good. He is the funniest professor I've ever met. He makes the lectures very interesting and simple. There is a chapter assigned to read every week with a quiz but they are very manageable. Textbook is free, there was a midterm online and a final exam in person, but he does do a review before the exams which helps a lot.
Professor Collazo is very good! Each week I knew exactly what I needed to do. One chapter reading per week, one quiz per chapter, one response to one primary source per week along with a reaction to two other people's comments, one midterm, and one final exam. The class was straightforward. I would definitely take him again.
He's really amazing and so nice. He let me study for a quiz with him when I didn't show up to class for it. It definitely helped and I got a good grade for the quiz. I took his class freshman year first semester and it was a really good choice for starters. I recommend his class 1000000/10
I took him for winter and he is really amazing! Expect to read a lot, he does want participation. But, even if he calls on you and you don't know the answer he will help! He's very clear on what is important for you to know. Go to office hours if you're missing anything, he's really understanding! Never learned this much history until I took him!
Very passionate about the topic and gives background/context surrounding the subject so we understand it more clearly, would take again.
This teacher is great just upset me how he put me to A to F and the due day isn't until the 25th for these tests he just set up and he already give me a F in all of them and all the pages he wants you to study on DON'T EVEN WORK you have to watch everything on youtube and then he says sorry but you didn't study it
Awesome professor! His lectures are clear and he makes extra videos to explain how to use Canvas to get the most from the course. He's straightforward and he answers emails quickly. I would definitely take him again.
Amazing! I was struggling with some family issues and Professor C let me do the quizzes after the deadline and without losing points. His lectures are great and he cares about teaching. Take him to learn about history.
The reviews are right, he's great! I would take him again.
This was a short term course, so we had to read a few chapters every week. Eahc chapter has a quiz and every week has one or two assignments based on a primary source. The lectures are videos with the professor talking about some things not in the book, but that's good because he gives a good background for the reading. Great class, so take him!
this professor made history fun and interesting. i'm not big on history but his lectures were very informative and he explained things in an easy matter. there's quizzes online at the end of every week and in class assignments. read and take notes and you'll be able to pass the class. he's a very understanding professor so don't worry
This was my favorite class all year. Professor Collazo is funny and he's very excited about teaching. We had an essay every week in class and the chapter quiz was online due at the end of the week. One midterm and one final. He gives a review for the midterm and final. I would definitely take him again.
BEST online class!!!! One video, one quiz, and one assignment per week. I missed the deadline for two quizzes but he let me make it up without losing points. The courseload is manageable and the lectures were really interesting. He lectures beyond the book so watch the videos. Overall, great class!!!
Had weekly chapter mini quizzes in class so be sure to read ahead and be early. Weekly quizzes too and no assignments, So be careful about total grading. Had a midterm and Final too. Aside from that his lectures were great and would take his class again.
The reviews are right. Professor Collazo is great! He's cares about your grade and constantly reminded us what was due. He also told us about scholarships and things on campus to help us liek the transfer center and tutoring. He's always in his office so visit him to get more insights into the course. I would take him again but i graduated!!!!
Very passionate about History, funny, and explains things clearly. Awesome class and awesome professor.
Great professor! I'm not a history major but I loved the class. Professor Collazo gave a lot of background information. We covered one chapter per week. We had weekly assignments and quizzes, one midterm, and one final. I went a few times to office hours and he added points to the assignments. He's also supportive with scholarships and transfer.
TAKE THE IN-PERSON CLASS!!! Caring professor, great lectures, and very helpful. He provides prerecorded lectures in Canvas, but those are very boring. It's best to attend the lecture in person.
He really cares. He was available after class and very supportive to help me pass the course.
He lacks communication with his students and deducted a point over a small Grammer error. Had difficulty trying to contact him when I was having issues loading up the assignments and he uses ai for everything. Needs to improve on his communication skills.
Professor Collazo is a great professor. I'm not a history major but I really like it. He's funny and gives a lot of background information. He made time to help me understand the reading and gave me extra points on the quizs and assignments.
Honestly I really liked his class. I enjoyed the lectures and he helped me do well. He is very nice and clear with his expectations. I recommend taking him.
I took Professor Collazo for HIST12 in the summer. It was 5 weeks online async. Every week had 3 chapters readings, a quiz per chapter, a video per chapter, and 1 or 2 assignments. One midterm in week 3 and final exam at the end. Overall doable so no complaints. I would take him again.
Took for spring semester and super easy! One discussion and small quiz every week. It's an easy A just stay on top of your work. Responds fast and very nice, 100% recommend!
Emailing him is not very effective but he is always able to talk after class and he does care about his students. Will always let you know if there is a new scholarships you can sign up for.
Im glad i trusted the reviews. The profesor is super nice. His lectures are interesting and he's really into it. He also talks a lot about scholarships, transfer, and things on campus. I would take him again if i needed another history class.
Professor Collazo really cares. He gave me extra credit for going to tutoring and he let me make up work without taking points away. After the midterm he let me explain why my answer was wrong and he gave me partial credit. If you need history then take him.
Awesome class! I learned so much about American history that I didn't know.
Every week follows the same formula. For the first few Mondays he gave pop quizzes, after the Mondays he gave a pop quiz are random. Every Friday, a Canvas quiz is due. Midterm was an essay, Final was multiple choice. You need to read a lot and make sure you don't fall behind. If you can stay caught up, you WILL get an A. Great professor.
I took this class in 8 weeks, so the pace meant around 60-70 pages of reading, 2-3 hours of recorded lecture (some AI, some from zoom in 2021), 15-60 minutes of audio that accompanies the reading performed by voice “actors” or AI, 2 multi-choice question quizzes, and 2 discussion posts each week. Plus a midterm & final. Textbook is free.
It is a lot of reading and paying attention. The lectures are long. But it is an easy class if you show up on time to do the assignments and if you participate. Also make sure you study for the test or quizzes. He is a very nice teacher and you can tell he cares about his students. He's also pretty funny.
