This is one of the most difficult & demanding classes in the Education department, however he tries to make it as less complex as possible. The teaches are the hardest part, but he assists in what you have to do though. The midterm and final weren't easy, but not as hard as the labs. This class will really excel your limits. Good luck!

The class was interesting but he was a bit disorganized. The midterm was a take home and the final was not that difficult (he gave a review of exactly was going to be on the test). What threw off my grade were the teaches, but he did not grade them (there were two other teachers). This was an easy class and one of the most interesting I've taken.

He's a really cool professor. He makes the class seem very easy. He gives great examples on how he wants our teaches to be. There are four lesson plans that we have to make and teach. Make sure that you study for the exam. You will learn a lot from this class.

Olmedo's cool & fair. He gives take home tests. He's also hilarious. His class is interesting. However, the teaches were graded by the lab instructor (not Olmedo). Be careful with them.

This class wasn't very demanding but you still have stuff to do. A movie review is one paper, and the big project is a portfolio on how you plan to teach. There's 2 group projects in the class, one of which is an actual teach. He basically tells you straight off what to expect in the classroom and skips all the BS. Final was open book, but early

This prof. has something that alot of others in FIU do not, which is actual passion for what they are teaching. He is funny and easy going but do not think that he takes slackers. His class was great and fun... I was never bored! If you are looking for a good professor who cares...this is him.

When he is in class and is teaching, he is great. Very passionate and gives relevant examples from his days in the classroom. The teaches are not graded by him, so you only see him half the semester. All in all not a horrible teacher to take the class with.

He can be very sarcastic but an overall good teaher. Lots of group projects. ALWAYS late to class so you can take your time getting there. He has no shame and will put anyone out there. If you like quiet and uninterested professors this is not your guy. Makes the class interesting though. Knows his stuff.

TAKE HIM! he's such an awesome professor. he knows what he's teaching and keeps you interested throughout class. He usually calls on randam people and is very sarcastic, but he's really good.

He is a pretty good professor. He is a stickler in the labs so make sure you follow directions to the t. He is very sarcastic but makes you laugh!!! overall he's alright!!!!

i have taken about 14 COE courses at fiu. out of those 14, this is the only class i earned a B in. A B- at that (the rest are As). This prof is funny and I did enjoy coming to class. His sarcasm can be quite rude at times tho so you have to have tough skin to be a student in his class, but class was interesting. Dont piss him off.

Thank you for showing us the difference from textbook teaching to "real" teaching. Why don't others have your enthusiasm? You are incredibly talented. Thanks for a great semester.

Another semester done! Good examples and ample of excitement in this class. Too bad we have to be rated by other professors - that part is not fair. Great knowledge of subject matter and he can make things come to life. I recommend his class - but it isn't an easy A either.

Very sarcastic but funny, and a tough grader. Requires a lot of creativity too. His exams are not too hard but once again, he is a hard grader when it comes to the teaching presentations. Managed to get a B+ somehow. I think it was because of the group project which was a mutual effort, and that the evaluator for my last teach was someone else.

Started another semester and now I realize what a great professor Mr Olmedo was. Where is the passion in the other professors - and his humor is also missed. Thanks again Olmedo.

One of the best professors at FIU. I took two classes with him this semester and I can honestly say learned more from him in one semester then I have my entire college career. Professor Olmedo was.. AWESOME!! He definitely keeps you at the edge of your seat with the demonstrations and lectures he gives. I really enjoyed his class and I wish that all professors were like him. He loves what he does and wants all his students to understand and do well not only in his class but in the education field as well. GREAT TEACHER!

He is a sarcastic one of a kind professor. You will walk out of his classroom a more confident teacher ready for anything. He keeps you on your toes and does not beat around the bush. One of the best professors. Tests are not difficult and teaches are doable just keep it simple.

This teacher is very demanding and extremely harsh when grading. When he grades each assignment, he only give one person the full points....it sucks because it is very hard to get an A in the class. The final is pretty essay as long as you do and remember all the assignments. He can be funny (he is very sarcastic though) and he is very helpful.

He is amazing!!! I loved going to his class. He is very sarcastic and will tell you anything to your face but I can honestly say I had a blast in his class, i laughed so much!! he is an amazing professor and is so knowledgeable.. He does his job well. I recommend him but you do have to study and do work in his class.

I loved going to class, even on a Friday Night - Is that not crazy? He is so caring, and so genuine. He wants to be a hard-nosed teacher but he can't help but being nice. You can tell he loves his job. Good job professor, see you soon.

The class is very stressful and it really shouldn't be. You are expected to perform in really unrealistic scenarios. Even though the class was an unnecessary pain the professor made it a bit more bearable.Yes he's sarcastic, yes he might be rude but take it with a grain of salt. Don't take it so serious and get to know the way he runs his classroom

Awesome professor!!! As long as you can deal with his sarcasm then you should do great. He is always willing to help you if there are any questions about the assignments, he even gives out his personal number- if that isn't dedication I don't know what is. The module is like $30 bucks but its comes in handy. TAKE HIM YOU CANT GO WRONG :)

Olmedo is a fantastic teacher. Don't worry about him being sarcastic. It's actually great because he makes you laugh which lowers the stress level prior to the teaches. This professor was outstanding! had him on a Tuesday night and i work every morning but I actually looked foward going 2 class. He critiques you after lesson plans which helps out BIG time! I got nervous on my first 2 teaches but he taught us a little breathing technique that helped out and i ended up doing well on it! TAKE HIM if u want to learn

Olmedo really teaches you something when taking this class. You might walk out frustrated and upset with how much work you put in, but he's helpful, has plenty of "constructive" criticism. And wants to see you excel. Don't think you can do a presentation without being 150% ready though.

Hilarious! At times he can be obnoxious/rude so if u get offended easily I don't recommend him. I liked his extremely blunt feedback after presentations. He really breaks u down but most of what he says is 100% accurate so you can be aware of your mistakes & improve. Easy to get in contact with. Willing to stay after class & answer questions.

TOUGH grader. Gave too much work. Had multiple projects due in the same week. Expects the most from you. Really makes you work just to get a B. Funny guy but can be too sarcastic. I like him as a teacher more than a grader/ assignment giver. Not the easiest class to take in a summer semester. It was his 1st time teaching EME2040 in summer though.

He is "Out of the Box" He teaches you different ways to improve in teaching and Lesson plans. He is funny and sarcastic. BUT no in a offensive way. He points out the obvious to you. He is willing to help you if you ask. Take good notes and study for test. He does go over what he will quiz you on. No surprises with him. He is very nice and helpful.

He was an awesome professor. Does make you extremely nervous when doing your teach. He is very sarcastic but later becomes your good friend. Take him. Hell definetly prepare you to be a teacher.

The choice is whether or not to hear how it really is out there, if you choose to know how to be a better teacher and kill it on your teaches then take him hands down!

Professor Olmedo will not baby you. He gives constructive feedback and will always give good explanations. He prepares you for your teaches throughout the semester, so pay attention and practice. After his lectures, there should be no reason for you to keep making the same mistakes. Once you've had him, you'll wish he was grading your teaches.

Best professor! so knowledgeable and funny, yes he can be rude but it's part of the fun!!! after the semester was over we all went out for drinks and you should see him outside he classroom! he's hysterical. I really believe he teaches the class with genuine interest since he has another day job

Don't listen to the "he's the toughest professor ever" reviews. He wants excellent and competent teachers to go into the educational field. You just have to try your best and never stop improving. You have to impress him, think outside the box. Don't annoy him with the "I'm doing this right?" or "help do this," just figure it out.

Olmedo is a really incredible person, and I learned more in his class than in any other I took this semester. That being said, I don't agree with the way he graded some of our work, and I deserved a better grade than he gave me based on my previously graded teaches. Not much guidance given on grading criteria, so be prepared, and don't ask.

Different than any other professor you've had. Makes you think outside of the box. Real classroom scenarios and practice there are 3 lessons plans that you will present/teach, INCLUDE ALL PARTS from the template Very sarcastic but really cares that you make it DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR. He's very funny and inspirational. His lectures are useful and meaningful. He teaches you what it'll be like as a teacher, what to expect, and gives you ideas on different teaching techniques. He'll poke fun at you sometimes but it's all with good intentions. He will criticize you after the presentations but its for your own good.

If you're sensitive DO NOT TAKE HIM! He knows his material very well, however his critiques on your teaches can make you feel horrible. The class is 3 teaches and a group teach at the end, if you miss more than 2 classes you will be lost. He has a very sarcastic personality, but you will learn from him.
