I have never come across a professor with his amount of energy and enthusiasm for his chosen field - Accounting! Sometimes it was a little much if one is not use to it, but all in all he is very personable and truly has the student's best interest at heart! And his command of the material is remarkable; he conveys it in a way that's easily grasped.

His energy, which he inserts to press us to learn, is amazing. But he is never maleficent. His teaching is very understandable. He figures out some funny stories for the most important points in material. So, we easy remember and recall accounting milestones. He helps with readiness. There is no word to describe how amazing Prof. Serna is. He goes above and beyond to help his students. He comes to class an hour before and does not leave the classroom before everyone is comfortable with the materials being taught (He is even willing to stay two hours after the class ends if students need him). I was constantly amazed by his humbleness and dedications towards his students.

Pro. Serna for a 4hr Saturday class kept the class awake and going. He stayed beyond his time to stay back with students that asked for help. Great Professor over all ! Very helpful when it comes to the work and makes it very easy to understand the class. Will work with you and let you know exactly what the tests are going to be on. Nothing unexpectedly thrown at you. Doing homework well help you get a long way in his class as a lot of the tests consist of previous homework problems.

It is very clear that Professor Serna cares about his students and wants them to do well. He offers many resources to help you understand the material and pass the course. Doing the HW helps a great deal so be sure to do them. In class he tends to ramble a bit, but stay focused and you'll pass this relatively hard course with ease.

Wasn't sure what to make of him at first, but man he is really involved with every student in the class. Maybe a difficult class for very shy people because you can't hide from him, but he doesn't try to humiliate anybody just help people. He helped me a lot. When taking BTA-111 in LAGCC, take Professor Serna. He is one of the accounting professors in LAGCC that will teach you the concrete details of what accounting really is. He encourages everyone to create study groups in the beginning of the semester (HINT: it helps a lot) and is helpful if you have any questions on the material in class and out.

He's a good professor you'll learn in his classroom. However, he's very judgmental at times. He favors students that pick up the work faster and won't work with you if he thinks you are behind. So if you go into his classroom, know the work so he can favor you and help you learn a lot more.

I don't think 350 characters are enough to describe Professor Serna. A passionate educator who's primary goal is to make sure that 100% of his class understands the material. His comprehensive method of teaching involves covering the chapters in a slow manner with random comedic pauses in between, so the lesson doesn't become too stale. Excellent!

I've had the pleasure this semester to meet one of the great professors in LaGuardia during my BTA 202 class. the lectures were very interesting and the professor make sure that the students are engaged during lectures and checking what each one of us is doing in class. what I love the most about him is that he cares for your progress.

It was a pleasure to take the last accounting class with Professor Serna before graduation. Even though students' foundation were weak, he dedicated time to review and explain thoroughly! Was an alright professor. Often ranted and went off topic in class. Hed make all the homework due the morning right before the exam. I've never taken ACC class my whole life EVER. U will know acc by code after taking his class & I agree. He will also apply management & integrity, w/c is brilliant. Very interactive & will make sure each student is on the same page. If there is any prof I'll remember from my time at LAGCC it'll be him. Thank you Prof Serna. Truly a gem. God bless.

He is very inspirational and will care about which student. Prof Serna will work with you, but you have to work by yourself a lot too! He gave the tests online and made the subject so easy. I wish he didn't, because I needed the test pressure to really learn the subject. Will make you feel good in the class, nice man, nice jokes.

I am changing my major to accounting! Inspirational professor! very caring. Works with the entire class to make sure everyone understands. Gives extra credit! and makes the class fun easy to learn. I had reservations about accounting but he inspired me to do well. All exams are similar to the homework, Attendance and participation are mandatory

I was not convinced at first. I thought he was not for real. I have taken exams where the material was not explained or covered in the class, but this professor is for real. Made the class funny, you do have to earn your grade. You can do this by reading the pdf before the class, ask questions in class, keep up with the homework. Serna I love you!!

I absolutely love Professor Serna, he gives it his all in his lectures, I took his in-person and online classes. He is very engaging and makes sure everyone understands the material. Read before class and ask questions if you don't understand. Participation is important! Exams are similar to HW.

Prof Serna, made the class very easy to follow. He cares about everyone understanding the material. Sometimes he moves too slow but I get it now. He covers and reviews all the material on the syllabus. You need to participate and he will call on you. Your microphone needs to be working. He spends about half the time reviewing. Love this man!!

Professor Serna is quite knowledgeable and passionate about what he does and the impact he has on his students. He encourages his students to participate and practice. I took professor Serna's class for acct 1 and he was so good in teaching that i decided to enroll for acct 2. Let me say that he really cares for his students, he wants them to understand and do their best. Prof Serna often reviews the material and gives a decent amount of h.w but trust, this really helps when its time for exams.

Honest trust? This professor really does care for his students, just in a very tough love way. He is kinda like a dad pushing you because he knows you have potential. Do the homework as many times as you can, it will help you along the way for when the exams come up. Overall great professor just stay on top of your stuff!
