This teacher is friendly but has you read approx. 9 chapters a week. Then in class, only goes over one aspect out of all the reading for the entire class period. Plus, he grades extremely hard.
THE CLASS IS BARABLE, IF YOU PUT IN THE TIME YOU'LL BE FINE. HE IS INDEED A GREAT PERSON. IF YOU TALK TO HIM AND SHOW THAT YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GRADE HE WILL HELP YOU OUT IN EVERY WHICH WAY TO ATTAIN WHAT YOU WANT TO EARN.
If you like having no idea where he gets his information for his exams, take this class. If you like feeling like you have read the material and studied for a test that helps you zero on the exams, again...take this class.
Prof. Ali is an enjoyable teacher. His tests are a bit challenging, but he grades on a curve, so you will do fine if you attend class.
He is extremelly wise and knows what he's teaching. If you need help he will be ther for you. If you talk to him, he'll be more than willing to hear you out and do what is best for YOU. At 1st the class will intimidate you, but at the end you'll learn and acknowledge that it was an good class.
He does alot of doodles on the board and I wonder where he is going with the information that he is presenting. His discussions can seem pointless at times. I wish that I was spending time doing the essays rather than listening to him lecture. But, all the girls agree...he has a great butt!
great teacher. knows what he is talking about. just as long as you do you do your own writing you will be fine. and is is very easy on the eyes if you catch my drift!
Professor Ali is very smart and knows his stuff. In class we discuss interesting topics and I am learning alot. I find Professor Ali to be very arrtactive!!! I think it is his eyes, but I am always a good listener and I never miss class:). Oh, and he is very approachable and funny!
He is very vague when it comes down to instructions on written responses and group project. He finds it annoying when you email him to ask for clarity. He laughs at you if you Type Lik Dis when you write on the written responses. If you like getting insulted, and lost all the time, take this class.
I never had any idea what he was talking about. He very rarely did the teaching...he had the class do it instead. He does not like when you email him, and when you do, he takes forever to respond. My advise, if you want to understand and like the class, do not take him!
He changes his mind all the time on what he wants us to do in class, for instance we had to do discussions, then after everyone did two, he decided to not do that anymore. He hardly teaches too, we did the teaching. He makes you read novels and does not go over the material presented in the books.
I'm glad someone else sees my opinion of this teacher as a disorganized flake. Everyone else on this website seems more concerned over his looks above what a incompetent teacher he is.
This guy is dope, i started out with a b than dropped down to a D beacuse i messed up on a test. He was so undersatnding. I ended up with an A on my final and in the class. The whole class and tests are common sense.. so if u dont have common sense and are unable to use ur brain to think about ur own ideas, then dont take the class. rocafella recor
Prof. Ali is extremely intelligent and he knows a whole lot about everything. I thought his class was interesting but at times long. Overall he was great!! I suggest taking him, he is willing to work with you for late assignments and willing to talk to you about anything. I would recommend taking him for anything!!
He's disorganized, and his grading is unclear. In the end I still didn't know what the point of the class was. And yeah he's hot!
Class is very hard, i have no idea what he is talking about and he gets off subject and rambles then gets mad and threatens to give quiz. He also changes his mind a lot. On essays at the start he said 4 pages now its at 5.

I so not like to be in this class, often times i get sleepy of what he lecture, and all we do is read and next day come in, he discuss and ask your opinion. if u really like to participate in his discussion, then ur awsome. but for me i dont like to be pick on and discuss with him..basically it a boring class for me..
Ali is so interesting, tough tests, but I have learned so much in his class. He is also quite funny. He can be scatter brained with scheduling but I have really enjoyed having him as a professor.
I hated him at first. As the sem. went along I began to really enjoy the discussions and looked forward to them. As a female, I didn't see him as a flirt and extremely professional. He took a genuine concern that I'd missed a few assignments eventhough I never went to his office. He's my favorite prof in LBST. I learned a lot with him. (I got a B)

He was the worst professor I have ever had in the Liberal Studies department. He is so clueless when it comes to dates and important information. He says one thing and the other day will be totally different. If you want a teacher that sticks to dates and rememebers what they say then DO NOT take him.
I really did not like this class. He failed to put any of his own opinion into the class. We never talked about anything that was in the book and I really dont see the point of taking that class (when it is taught by him)
I really enjoyed this class. Though he may have been a bit unorganized at times, his lectures were always interesting. LBST 304 was a challenging class, but with Professor Ali teaching, I learned so much.
This professor is the most disorganized professor on campus. He took forever to return tests and assignments and was late almost everyday. He also was inconsistent in his grading. I have to say I did learn a bit here but the lack of professionalism was a real drag. Also he never was available in office hours dont take him!
I dont know why people are complaining about him. His class was so easy. I didn't want to take it, and I was going to drop it, until I realized I never had to be there and passed with a B. Just do all the writing assignments and the class is gravy. The class is all just based on your opinion about stuff. Easy
Late every day. No structure. Never available in office hours ( a flake). Makes you buy books you never read. Terrible class. If you like any substance in a class at all, do not take this one.
lots of essay/journal writing
HERE'S THE TRUTH: i've taken him 2x's now (by choice). yes, he is disorganized, a flake and very vague. buuuut, he is a good teacher. let me explain: he cares if you care. if u care about ur grade, he will bend over backwards to get you a good grade. he loves to help his students. just get to know him and you will see he's actually a great teacher!
He's a great teacher. He know's his stuff. Don't buy all the text books, I only used one and the other 5 were never used. Attendance is a must and you must type/write fast because he scribbles on the board as he talks. Keeps you in class until class is over. Don't expect to get out early even if he says it. LOL Test are difficult but he is always willing to help. He was always on time..never more than 5 minutes late. I'd take him again.
he was the worst ****ing teacher i have ever had!
he is a best teacher everrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

He never shows up to office hours, when he is there he is always in a rush, tests are not about what is taught in class, does not respond to emails, unprepared and unorganized. This is a physics class, not a class on 19-21st century sciences, so be prepared! In reality, wants to be teaching a a "higher ranked" university.
iF YOU DO THE WORK, AND PAY ATTENTION YOU WILL DO FINE. UNLESS HE DOESNT LIKE YOU. IF HE DOESNT LIKE YOU HE TREATS YOU LIKE A MORON, IN THAT CASE YOU PROBABLY ARE. ANYWAY HE WAS REALLY AWESOME TO LOOK AT ALL SAMESTER AND I FOUND MYSELF ACTUALLY LEARNING SOMETHING VALUEABLE. IF YOU TAKE HIM BE PREPARED TO WORK AND ANSWER QUESTIONS. HE IS ALWAYS LATE
Ali was very difficult. He taught the class like it was an actual physics class and none of us had much physics experience before this. I thought it would be more like 302A and B talking about the history of science and important people. Hard to understand his points, confusing. Did not keep to his office hours.
He is a bad professor. He in uninterested in his students and never keeps his office hours. In addition to being late to class, he constantly finishes lecture early, but keeps you there for no reason. His tests do not reflect the reading at all and his lectures are hard to follow. Do not take him.
He is a hard professor. The class is a college level physics class and the tests are not correlated with the material that you go over. You don't use most of the text books so only buy Science Matters and The Men Who Created a New Physics. Attending class is a must. Don't go to office hours because he is NEVER there! Good luck.
Prefessor Ali is great!! Subject may be challenging if you don't attend lectures. Overall explains really well and replies e-mails promply. In addition, he's got a good sense of humor.
he's not that hot. he just wears tight clothing. he was disorganized but seemed to really care about how well we did. kept insisting we meet him during his office hours. i never did. stil got an A. not tests. only essays. attendence is importnat. didnt use freud textbook though.
yes, he is pretty hot for a teacher. No tests, but essays. Make sure you do all the essays or you'll be behind. Doesn't grade hard on the essays. Dont buy the small book, we used the big book all the time
If you are not a good writer...stay away from this class. other than that..it was easy! he makes you read a lot but if you go to class he goes over everything! everything! he tells you his opinions then you use his opinions on your weekly papers. very easy to do! i got 9's and 10's on all of them! with effort anyone can get a B. An A is impossible.
The guy definately knew what he was talking about, but it was just hard to stay interested. Just listen to what he tells you in class, put it in your papers, and you'll be fine. Didn't read half of the assignments and just went off class lectures and got a B. Make sure you go to class, it'll definately help.
Most unhelpful professor ever. Got this bloke in an online class, tough to see a professor that is as computer illiterate as this one. The text reviews are full of misspellings and the assignments are hard to understand because grammar is horrible, and bear in mind this was an English Composition class. Definitely stay away from this guy.
Worst professor i've had at CSUF. He is HORRIBLE at providing feedback on essays and loves to make his students feel worthless and stupid. Tells you one thing in his office hours and then takes it back the next time you talk to him. Just because he says a paper is better than the previous, does't mean he'll give you a better grade!
He is unorganized, scatter brained, and has no idea how to check his email or use his computer. Turned in rough drafts never to have them given back in time, feedback for 1st paper wasn't given back until after the 2nd paper was due. Horrible teacher, wish I never took this class with him! I got a B, but it was awful.
Ali Jawad is the best teacher at CSUF. His lectures are fun, entertaining and sexy. His eloquent tone gives me a Banana Boner.
He forgets things, but he grades relatively quickly and is pretty funny. He cares about the subject and really wants to help his students. He's not totally hot -- he just dresses very Los Angeles. His class is wonderful if you attend and pay attention.
alot of people dropped the first couple of weeks because he made it sound like there would be a lot of papers. like 9 papers with the final paper being 30 pgs.reality check we wrote 5 papers longest one 10pgs.He is very helpful and provides lots of resources for your paper.Just do what he wants and argue with him in class and you will be fine.
He is a very good teacher only if you actually pay attention all hours and watch the documentary's. You only door poor if you don't put any effort into it. He has a lot of good ideas I wish everyone really should hear and be educated on.
IDK why people are complaining, like the person that got a B and said don't take him lol. I ALSO received a B and thought the class was so easy. And interesting, we went into discussions more than "lecture" and took grammar quizzes. Turned in like 3 papers/short summaries of documentaries. NO FINAL:) Take him at night! Easy going mood
Professor Ali was one of the best professors I've had during my time at CSUF. He is enthusiastic about the subject and keeps students involved. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll want to attend the class anyways. Don't get the textbook.
Many students thought he was intimidating the first day of class. Don't let it scare you the first day. His class was interesting and made you really think about current issues. The more you talk in class the better it will be.
This professor was awesome, by far my favorite professor at CSUF. he challenges you to think and debate however he does tend to get off topic and his handwriting is hard to read but this guy is witty and smart. If you ever have any questions just go to his office hours and he'll help you a lot and strike up a great conversation! I <3 Ali!
Ali is amazing!!! You don't have to go to class but you will want to. Don't let him intimidate you the first day. Go to his office hours. He's a really interesting and BRILLIANT guy and if you build a relationship with him he will be a great resource for your entire time at CSUF and after. One of my favorite profs ever, love him!
Pretty good teacher! super interesting and was always engaging. Lots of work required but if you get it all done, you should do well. He's pretty lenient, but if you get your work done on time you should pass no problem.
Terrible teacher. We did not learn anything from him all year other than we cannot write proper grammar, and yet he still did not help us learn how to write properly. Which is the whole point of this class. He discouraged any kind of teaching degree and always discussed how great "his school UCLA" was. Would not recommend ever.
I love Professor Ali! He is my favorite teacher at CSUF! He comes across intimidating to some people, but I think he is very approachable. He is very sarcastic! He'll make you feel dumb at times, but it's funny! Just don't take his comments personally. I enjoy his classes! They are always entertaining and informative!
Prof. Ali's liberal studies 301 class is probably one of the hardest classes I have ever taken. That being said, I believe everyone should be required to take at least one class with him. He is very helpful, but still expects a lot from his students. After taking his class, I can now write a decent 15 page paper in a week.
Professor Ali has a unique teaching style. He's intimidating at first but stick it out. His lectures are interesting and pretty entertaining. He challenges his students to critically think. Three 10-15 research papers and grammarcritically thinking quizzes once a week. He's not strict with deadlines and helps you with your papers. TAKE HIM!
His hotness comes from his knowledge. He is brilliant! His class syllabus is useless. he changes it all the time, but follow his lead and you will do fine. No test! Just papers. You will want to go to class, his lectures are interesting. I have been here 4 semesters now and he is still my favorite professor at CSUF
He is super easy to pass. Attendance is not required at all, and you can get an A without going. We had no tests, just a take home midterm that was a paper. We have to write a two paper response once a week, but he grades super easy on it if you actually try to take an opinion on the topic. He is such an educated professor.
Do not take him! He assigns three 10 page essays! The topics are very hard to find, so expect to be next to your computer all day. I will never take him again. He doesn't give out homework, so we could bump up our grade. He never takes role, so he doesn't no anyones names after months of being there! Don't take him.
Jawad makes this really tedious class a lot of fun. There are three lengthy papers, but he is really good about working with you and and making sure you are organized. This is one class and professor I can truly say I learned a LOT from. Your writing will improve a lot and it's fun to be taught by someone so extremely intelligent and passionate.
8 page papers required for this class. Don't get the textbooks unless he tells you to. He's very smart and talks about interesting things. Great professor!
Amazing professor. Easy class. Assignments are easy. No tests. Attendance is not required unless you're presenting.
professor ali is a very interesting man with a lot to say and it is obvious that he is very knowledgeable. his lectures were always super interesting and had the class thinking in different perspectives. we had a paper due once a week (1-2 pages), one midterm (4 pages; one page per question), and a 6-page final. I think every one ended with an A.
Weekly 1 page papers EASY! Presentation EASY! Final is a paper SUPER EASY. Midterm is a paper SUPER EASY almost everyone got an A. I only missed one day of his class. He is a very nice and understanding professor. He is very helpful and inspirational. TAKE THIS CLASS EASY A! The beginning seems hard, but stick with it. EASIEST CLASS EVER
Okay so, cool guy, a little weird. Short essays every week (if he remembers to give a prompt) final is a presentation. Class seemed unorganized, he was always late with his Juice it Up or Jamba Juice whatever it is. He asks tough questions and sometimes makes you feel stupid for your answers but hes just trying to get you to really think.
Jawad is very intelligent. Sometimes, his lectures would bore us to tears, but he has this straight-forward sense of humor that few would have understand. To me, he was hilarious. Our grade ultimately depended on a take-home midterm, a 5 minute speech, and a final. Only used the textbook once. Overall, a great professor.
The most unorganized, careless professor Ive ever had. Class was easy but he doesnt follow his syllabus and Im pretty sure he doesnt even read assignments and essays. Made us get three books at the beginning of the semester and we only used one. Calculated my grade wrong and gave me excuses that didnt make sense. Take someone else if you can.
Easy class. 10 assignments throughout semester which include 8 500 word papers, take-home midterm, and final. Final is short presentation and 2500 word paper. Attendance not mandatory. Everything is turned in online. Lectures were interesting as they are relevant to what is happening now. Overall, easy and straightforward.
Professor Ali is very smart and shows that in his lectures. He is very interesting to listen to during lecture. His classes are not mandatory, but make sure to do all the assignments he gives. He assigns one SMALL writing assignment each week and two papers. The class is very easy to pass!
He was great at giving advice on how to see the world differently. One the first day, dont be surprised if he calls on you because he likes to call on people but after two weeks, he doesnt call on you unless you raise your hand. He was intimidating at first but you get use to him. His lectures are long and boring.
Jawad is human, so his teaching style and overall class structure isn't perfect, but what he lacks in traditional format, he makes up for in getting students to really think outside of their normal mindset. He's a great person to have a conversation with, though he always seems in a rush to get out of class (even more so than his own students).
Professor is a good guy. We dont do a lot of what the syllabus said, but had quality discussions about life. Make sure you do all the assignments and youll get an A.
Be prepared to write four papers that will be 6-10 pages long. He will not give you any feedback or grade them till the end of the semester. Did not learn anything about being a better writer and really has no direction in his lectures. Doesn't even show his face while talking. Very judgmental.
Professor Ali is intimidating, but truly smart. His class is not easy if you dont work for it. You have a total of four papers in his class, each 8-10 pages. He is very flexible with due dates and really wants you to succeed, but you need to communicate with him. He challenges you a lot in class, so dont be intimidated when he calls on you. Take!
Very lecture heavy but overall a pretty easy class since he is an easy grader, Lots of reading articles and discussion boards. Also he randomly calls on people in class.
Professor Ali really cares about his students and what he teaches. The class is mostly discussion based and he encourages participation from the whole class. Our course comprised of weekly online discussion boards, a midterm essay, and a final research paper and presentation.
Very smart professor who doesn't bullshit. He will go up there and have real conversations with his students that allow us to think critically and differently. He makes his class passable by showing up to class and engaging with the material. This is my second time taking him for a class and would 100% take him again!!
Would not recommend taking, he wants to argue everything no matter the answer you give and is not respectful
Very easy course we just talked about AI the whole semester weekly activities and honestly the only interesting class I had this semester I enjoyed going to class
90% of assignments were just doing 1 discussion a week and there's a final paper & presentation due at the end of the semester. Easy class, just do all the assignments
This guy is just bad im sorry. Boring Lectures as per usual but part of what makes liberal studies great is discussions. This guy doesn't let you speak and steers you towards his direction EVERY SINGLE TIME. You can't even talk for like 10 seconds before he interupts you and yaps about some BS which makes it seem so disrespectful. Awful class
doesn't really listen to students in discussions. suggested students should sell their face/body to AI girlfriend companies. said we were ableist for disliking AI because its the only way autistic people could make friends. said AI was more similar to autistic people than nuerotypical people are. made me very uncomfortable
