I have him for Intro to Ethics. His tests are fairly easy as long as youve paid attention. Lectures can be a bit boring but thats the nature of Philosophy IMO. I would and have recommended him to anybody who needs a philosophy class.

Professor Arnold is a really great teacher. Yale educated the man brings a lot of knowledge to the table. Take good notes and you should be fine. Make sure you use his study guide for the tests and be prepared to write good essays. Had a great time in class. Not an easy class but not that hard either.

*summer session* Teaches at Central Campus. Had him for intro to Ethics. You will probably have to guy 6 or so books (all will total 60 bucks.) 12 quizzes (2 were debates) very easy (will probably be over what he just taught.) Mid-term was 2 essay questions, 2 pages each. Used the books primarily for reading assign. Definitely recommend.

The most interesting and thought provoking class ever have I taken at HCC. Prof. Arnold loves to teach. His lectures keep you on your feet. You'll want to take this class if you're serious about getting a well rounded taste of Ethics. Quizzes and essays are the meat of your grade. Absolutely would do this class over, just for the fun of it.

Prof Arnold is very easy, he lectures on what you need to know to write the essays so make sure you either attend or have a friend that takes really good notes. Also you can supplement some of his notes with what he has written on his blogspot, this really helped me when writing essays, which you have three including the final. He counts attendance

Fantastic class. I recommend it whether you like philosophy or not. Crystal clear lectures. Take notes well and do well. Attendance is virtually mandatory because the essays will require your understanding of his lectures. Very professional, fair, curteous and interesting. Some folks offeded by material. That's the nature of the subject.

Not only is he easy on the eyes, he will work w/u should ur circumstances change. He gives u the blueprint 2 pass class & frankly if u fail, its 'cause u want 2. Attendance is important 4 notes. Great instructor, teaches as if your listening to a story and actually uses the chalk board not power point. 2 test and 2 papers. His class provokes thought about principles of the way we live our life and creats those AH ha moments. I strongly suggest taking him for philosophy. cool guy, nice guy, and lots to share.

Great Teacher. Really funny and very helpful. I learned so much this semester. His classes fill up fast and almost no one drops. Some people get offended by somethings he says... but hes just quoting what the philosophers said. He will make you laugh and think about things differently.

Jay Arnold is an incredibly educated and wonderfully amazing professor. Not only did I have him for philosophy, I also interned under him while he published a book. Great professor, really brought the subject to life with his vivid lectures. He is easy to talk to and makes sure that every student understand the subject by interacting with them through out and giving great examples. Easiest class every. He gives you the notes to read, and he tests you based off the notes. Literally exactly from the notes. We only met online once at the beginning of the year. He was so funny. There are 3-4 exams and one 5 paragraph essay. He is a must! take this professor!!! I loved professor Arnold.

Easiest class I've ever taken. Only took me a few hours to complete all assignments. What you need to do is to follow the provided study guides, do 4 easy exams and write a 5short-paragraph essay (he's an easy grader). Try to finish everything on your first day or first week and you will be able to save plenty of time and spend it on other classes!

Taking Philosophy 1301 with Professor Jay was a great experience. He made complex philosophical ideas much easier to understand and always encouraged open discussions. I appreciated how he connected the material to real-world topics and current issues, which made the class more meaningful and engaging.
