He demands a lot of work, but the work is what makes you understand this course. I've learned a lot in this course.
Very hard!! Can't understand a word he says!!! Spends more class time yelling at students then teaching. His famous lines, "YOu can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?" Come ON-- How old are we?
very difficult class to begin with!...he doesnt make it any easier. very corny jokes! be prepared to honestly spend the 15 hours a week in hw on this class!...the clc catalog wasnt wrong!...IF YOU HAVE A 95 PERCENT IN THE CLASS AND FAIL THE FINAL YOU FAIL THE CLASS!!!!!! ITS A DEPT RULE...U HAVE TO GET A CERTAIN GRADE ON FINAL TO GET A CERTAIN GRADE IN CLASS NO MATTER YOUR AVG!....so if you want a tough class, take acc 121!!!!!
Umm...terrible. He is so hard to understand and his teaching style is about as good as my cat. This material is hard enough and he does nothing to make it easy/fun/interesting to learn. He grades hard, (EX: no $ sign on numbers) and has bad jokes. He talks down to you as when he speaks and avoids questions...take this class with anyone but him!

THIS GUY MADE A GIRL CRY IN MY CLASS!!! VERY RUDE, OFFENSIVE, HAS BAD JOKES, BAD TEACHING STYLE, HE SHOULD NOT BE A TEACHER.
He's not as bad as everyone makes him sound. Yes, his jokes are lame, and the course is HARD. He demands a lot of work, but the work is what makes you understand this course. I've learned a lot in this course. It may be hard, but he's not mean, rude, or offensive, and he grades fairly easy as long as you come to class and do the work!
Very hard and boring teacher. Doesn't know how to teach. Very hard to get a good grade in his class.
hard but not bad. go to office hrs he explains everything really easy there!
His chair never gets cold because he never gets up to teach the class. His attempts to relate to the students are lame. It's clear why people call this the College of Last Chance.
Yes his jokes are lame, yes he babbles on about how you need to do the work, yes he gives lots of it, yes he is hard to understand sometimes...BUT overall he's not as bad as most are saying here. At least he's lively and let's face it, accounting is hard to make exciting. If you do the work you'll be fine. He's also pretty relaxed on late homework.
This class is hard you have to be motivated and self taught. You will fail if you don't do all your homework. Don't fall behind.
hard to understand. explains things while we are writting it down. LOTS of homework. talks fast.
NEone here whos mad at this guy is probably just cuz he gave them a bad grade because this guy grades fair and by the books. All u gotta do is the work and you'll b fine on the tests. The hw is what really helped me. If he hadn't given so much than i never would've learned it well. Thats the ponit. He assgns the hw bcuz he knows what he's doin
I just took class, Very hard to understand, from his accent being so strong. He is very useless when asking for help. He laugh or makes fun of why or the reason u asked the questions for. DEFINITELY
Very hard to understand. Useless when comes to helping other students. Should not be teaching anymore, almost 90% of the class dropped. And he blams it on not doing the HW, but its just that he won't help when it comes to questions. he talks way too much on other things than the class. DEFINITELY would not recommend this teacher to my worse enemy!!
Great teacher overall!
Horrible teacher. No interest in teaching the material whatsoever
very hard to understand because of his accent and goes by a power point that doesnt help what so ever. He does not clear things up with you. i would not recommend this teacher from my expierence
Useless lecture; useless powerpoint; Self-study course essentially. Does not know what to focus on to be ready to do payroll in the field like properly filing tax returns instead he focuses on quick calculations. The class consists of reading book & doing end of chapter exercises. I can't believe this -C/D teacher ever got tenure!
Do the work, read the book&use the Acc people at the Math center!!!You will learn by doing the work but I don't see him as a good teacher.Throwing on PPP&random formulas isn't teaching. Went to his office to go over old tests before finals&he referred me to the book when questions. Cuts some slack on late HW but overall doesn't care about students
He just sits there and talk about the Bears and baseball teams for half of the lecture. He is not good at teaching a class. He is an intelligent but doesn't know how to teach a class. You are better off seeing a tutor.
He is very rude when you ask a question and refuses to answer questions. He does a horrible job of explaining things and the entire class is almost always left clueless. He does not care about the students he teaches and makes you feel stupid if you answer the question wrong. Dont take Accounting with him because almost everyone drops his class
He's a diffuclt professor, he's hard, gives obscene amounts of homework, and will pass you on to someone else if you need help. Also gives horrible lectures. My class started with 20 and ended with 8.
great!
I do not like this teacher. He does not want to help alot of people, and he has ridiculous office hours. He wont even stay after class to answer students questions, because he thinks dinner is more important. Tells you that tutoring is available, but practically insists on it. If i do not pass this class, I will take again, but not with him!
Horrible teacher. I told him i was confused and he yelled at me saying i need to figure it out. Will not help students and very bad at lectures.
If you are wanting to be there/ willing to learn, you will get what you want out of this class. He is a good instructor, this, coming from an adult.
When you take his class prepare to spend a lot of time with the tutor especially for chapters 10 and 11. Most of the time he just goes through homework in class and doesnt lecture. Its frustrating when he tells you to practice multiple choice and doesnt give you anything to practice off of. I wouldnt recomend this professor to anyone.
ACC 121 with him was difficult. He at times almost seemed that he already thought the students knew the material that he's teaching which led to him just brushing accross topics. Other than that he's not a bad teacher. A lot of students just don't realize that it is a demanding course. And be forwarned that Accounting isn't for just anybody
HANDS DOWN The WORST professor I have ever had in my entire college career. He assumes everyone has taken an accounting course and understands the terminology. His power points are useless and he offers little to no help. The book is difficult to understand and when you ask him for help he points you to a page. AWFUL.
He just goes on and on about the same thing and it is not even about what you should be learning in this class. He never lets you finish asking a question, he will just cut you off and tell you, you are wrong. I would not take this class again.
He does not explain the material and expects you to know how to do everything. When you ask for help he directs you to a page or a tutor. Avoid him, find another teacher and hope they are better than him.
Horrible. Offers no help and does all of the work for you. He does all of the homework which sounds nice, until you take the exams and finals and realize you don't know how to do any of the work. If you have the choice to pick a different professor, do it. He is not ideal for someone who has never taken an accounting course before.
I had a very good experience with Jay. Accounting success is doing the understanding how you got to the answer. It may seem like he gives you the answers but he was comprehensive on the steps to get to it. He does take questions as we spent a lot of time on problems and homework in-class.
I had a very good experience with Jay. Accounting success is doing all the homework and problems, and ultimately understanding how you got to the answer. It may seem like he gives you the answers but he was comprehensive on the steps to get to it. He does take questions as we spent a lot of time on problems and homework in-class.
The only way to fail this course is by being lazy and not dedicating time and effort. If you want to succeed, Jay gives you all the tools and resources to do just that. He is one of my favorite teachers. It's a tough class no doubt about it, but hard work will prevail. If you show interest in learning, then he will be more than happy to help you.
This class was difficult but Professor Chittal was always available during office hours to help explain challenging concepts. He kept class time moving along with his expert knowledge and good sense of humor. I'd highly recommend him as a professor.
The class itself was a little difficult towards the end, but the professor goes above and beyond to help students get an A. He tells you which problems will be on the test/quizzes so pay close attention. Offered up his office hours at both campuses and worked very close with the tutor to ensure he was teaching the same way. Directs you towards an A
I thought that accounting would really suck but he made it pretty interesting and the class was pretty entertaining. I liked Jay he was a nice guy and a good teacher. He got the material across clearly and focused on certain areas where we would be tested so we didn't learn a bunch of stuff we didn't need. He also comes in early which was helpful.
Very knowledgeable and fair. The amount of work you put in is directly related to your grade. Tutoring is encouraged and available. This teacher is always willing to help you and genuinely wants you to do well.
Lots of homework
There was ever a time during the semester when I thought that he was being mean or rude. I didnt anticipate how intense the course load would be and I think that's where many people blame Jay rather than accept that theyre unwilling to put in the extra work. He knows the material, and teaches well, but its on you to put in the time outside of class
Professor Chittal is a tough teacher, but he is also willing to help his students. Visit him during his office hours for additional help. Be prepared for a lot of homework in this class. However, homework does prepare you for the quizzes and exams. Make sure you do show effort in the class he will consider it towards your final grade.
This is Accounting expect to work, if you're not ready then do not take this class. Jay will walk through a lot of homework but if you're expecting to pass with homework points don't take him.
Jay chittal is very helpful teacher and he has good knowledge of accounting subject. I enjoyed class and got good accounting knowledge.
if attend this class regularly , then u will doing well in exam. The lecturer is very helpful.. he always ready to help students.
Mr. Chittal is very passionate and cares about the students. He emphasizes on what is important so it helps you on what to study for tests. Has an open atmosphere and can ask question with ease.
Mr. Chittal is a great joy to have as a teacher and I wish I could have him in my next Accounting Class. Class work may become difficult at times, but he always is clear on when his open hours are and when tutors are available if you need help outside the classroom. As long as you show up to class, participate, and do the required work; enjoyable!
Accounting 121 is a very difficult class no matter the teacher. But Jay makes it easier beciase he understands that people in college work and so he does everything he possibly can to see you succeed. He tells you a headsup on quizes and tests, he gives you practice problems to notes that you can print out and do. Its up to you to succeed though
He will ask students to go on this site to leave positive feedback. He is a tough grader. Does the homework for you without providing steps on how to arrive at the answers. Needs work on his student-teacher relationship skills. He is a tough grader, beware of his read pen. Avoid taking his class at all cost.
Proffesor Chittal is really difficult to understand. He goes to fast and practically gives you the answer and expects you to know how he got the answer. That type of learning wont help on tests or quizes and if you ask help on how he got a certain answer and you dont get it the first time he can get rude. Just avoid this class.
Prof. Chittal is great. I loved this class. There were no surprises. He tells you exactly what's on the quizzes/tests. The practice problems he tells you to do are exactly like test questions. He is hilarious and willing to help outside class if needed. There's a lot of work but if you do the HW and pay attention you'll do great. Beware Ch 10 & 11!
Jay is awesome, the class itself was a little difficult towards the end, but the professor goes above and beyond to help students get a reasonable grade. Jay will tell you from day one that if you put the time in the class at the end of the semester you will be happy with your grade. Would take again! 10/10
This was the hardest class I have ever taken, but Chittal knows that. He goes over the chapter(s) and tells you exactly what's going to be on the tests and quizzes. He also gives you practice problems to help prepare for those tests/quizzes. He says if you don't put in the work, you won't be happy, and that's true. Accounting isn't easy!
Prof Chittal made this difficult class fun and continued to update our progress so we knew where we stood in class at all times.
guys just trust me on this, I've tried typing all kinds of explanations but i would just reach word limit every time on this and not be able to fully explain my ideas and thoughts. let me just say, this guy is one of the worst teachers in the business from the bottom of my heart. avoid taking this guys class at all cost.
Mr. Chittal does well to prepare you for what is on tests and quizzes. He has a quick and direct teaching style that does not work well with students, and if he slowed down a bit to explain how he got answers he would be an amazing teacher. He definitely cares about his students so long as you show you are serious and trying.
I took my first accounting class with Jay and although I got a decent grade in his class, I think he is a bad professor. If it weren't for the tutors I'm not sure i would have passed his class. He just goes over hw and gives you answers which is great unless you are actually trying to learn the material.
Avoid at all costs, just gives book problems in class and you just sit there clueless for 30 - 40 minutes without any guidance. Then he pulls out his answer sheet and compares answers with those who self taught themselves for those 30 - 40 minutes. I needed more structure, roadmap how to approach those problems, then apply that knowledge in hw.
Professor Chittal is pretty good at his job and cares about the progress of his students. If you work hard (which I didn't learn until the second half of class) you'll do good. Things might get confusing but that's more of a reason to go ask questions. I mean I didn't pay $350 to just sit there. Take the class.
Chittal is a great professor, but you really need to work in his class. Beware if you don't learn by doing homework in class and reading the textbook at home to gain context. Sometimes he is a bit difficult to understand, but all in all, he teaches the material quite well. Show up to class, do your work, study, and you should do fine.
Very good when he combines book and PowerPoint to lecture.
Professor Chittal is tough but fair. It is a difficult course that you have to prepare for. You have to stay on top of the work in order to succeed and participate. Professor Chittal is always available when you need him, you just have to reach out.
He has a good personality, but for the most part i had to learn the course material on my own. This class is difficult AND you wont pass without going to class! He goes over material really fast in class and pretty much the only thing you do in class is go over online homework and breeze through the powerpoint. You'll need to put in a lot of hours
Tough, but fair. He is more than willing to meet outside of class to help a student in need. The material is hard and he will tell you on day 1, it requires time and effort. He definitely doesn't hand you a good grade but cares about his students and wants everyone to do well.
He expects you to laugh at his same reduntant bears jokes that are only funny the first time you hear it. Doesn't shut up about who shows up to class or not. Also rarely provides any examples for the problems and mostly reads of the PowerPoint point and expects you to learn.
This is a fast paced class, but if you follow these tips you will succeed: show up for class, pay attention, do your homework for understanding and use all the practice materials to prepare for tests. Work hard and ask for help if you need it. He's a great teacher with an awesome sense of humor!
Takings this class was the worse mistake. Jay does not teach; he spends all of class working on homework problems. He doesn't help, he just speeds through the problems as he speaks to himself. Tutors are a blessing, so utilize them! He is also extremely passive and will call you out in front of the class without saying your name. So terrible.
This subject is hard, no matter who you take. However, Jay is a fun teacher to take. You have to put in the time or else you will not pass or will be banking on the final to pass. Overall, Jay is great teacher to have, makes the class fun. Ask questions, he will answer. Fair grader.
Mr. Chittal is a super nice and funny guy. However, his lectures were impossible to follow and he doesnt really teach as much as just tell you the answers to homework problems. I went to a final review session with the other accounting teacher and wish I had taken his course instead.
Jay's teaching style suited me well. I'm an auditory learner, and he taught in class sufficiently enough that I never had to read the chapters outside of class. He tells you what you need to know for upcoming tests, and he's accessible to check your work before the tests. I'm the exception, not the rule. A lot of people struggle in his class.
Jay was a great instructor. He breaks down difficult homework problems in class, which helps grasp the material. His lectures are straight forward, and he lets you know about the resources available to pass successfully.
Not the professor you want to teach you something as complicated and work load heavy as accounting. He bullies students in class FOR THE ENTIRE TIME if they answer wrong. He expects students to respect him when he rarely shows respect to them. He is also a very harsh grader when it comes to tests and quizes. Dont make accounting harder than it is.
Worst professor I've ever had. He does not teach and is extremely rude. I do not recommend you take his class. All he does in class is do homework problems. He will let you work on the problem for 2 seconds before he will show you the answer and call you out for not getting it done.
By far the worst professor I've had. His lectures consisted of powerpoints for 10 minutes, and then students doing homework independently for the remainder of class. He has a very negative attitude and discourages students from succeeding. His famous lines are "read the book" and "I don't have the answers memorized in my head". TERRIBLE INSTRUCTOR.
If you are familiar with accounting I'm sure this class will be understandable. If this is your first accounting class, I recommend another teacher. He is the worst teacher. Very fast-paced. Expects you to only learn based on the book which is impossible. His quick undetailed powerpoints did not help. Bullies if you have the wrong answer.
Jay Chittal was the perfect professor for my learning style. He treated the class very seriously, causing me to treat the class seriously as well. It was helpful to spend class time working on hw questions to learn the application of concepts. He is very strict because he cares about his students, and he rewards students for doing well.
Jay Chitall was a good teacher, professional, fair grader , always help me with my questions after class and has a good sense of humor. Do homework, read the chapter before each class, go to class, this subject requires a lot time and effort , be ready to study. Financial accounting is a hard subject, not matter who you take for teacher.
One of the WORST professors I've ever had. I was in his ACC 121 class and he expected us to know the material even though it was an INTRO course. Instead of actually teaching, he would do a few homework problems without explaining the material whatsoever. His "teaching" is extremely disorganized and his PowerPoints are very vague.
acc is hard as it is. if you miss class you might fail. i spent 5 hours almost every day on the hw. the hw is time consuming. he acts like we know the material. the tests are hard af. read the book and understand everything bc its on the test. tests are 60% mult. choice and 40% written answer. you get quizzes on written answers. feel free to cry :)
Good teacher. Clear from the beginning that you have to do the work to get a good grade, and knows you can do the work if you try. Helpful, willing to explain concepts and make sure you understand them.
Accounting is hard as it is but this professor makes the class 20 times harder than it needs to be. He goes through the slides really quickly and instead of walking through questions and explaining he just does them for you or gives you time to do them then just gives the answer instead of walking through steps. Also talks about useless stuff a lot
Accounting is hard, but Prof. Chittal I think did really well teaching the subject. He was really straight forward from the beginning of class about how much work you'd have to put in and he really does care about his students and is pretty fair. The only con is that he goes through the slides fast but if you do the homework you'll be good.
Doesnt teach you just reads off his slides although is willing to help in his office house. Get ready to work hard and spend most of your time studying. this class really isnt easy so dont expect to walk in and fly through it.
He was the worst professor ever. He didn't teach anything. I needed to teach myself because he didn't like to help his students. Besides, his accent was too hard to understand. Please don't take his class.
He was rude but he wanted us to respect him. He only showed his lame powerpoint instead of teaching us. The class was terrible!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! He is rude. When you ask for help, he raises his voice and says "im not there yet". He goes through the lecture fast. He says he wants to help but doesn't even try. If you have any disability, he does not care. Save your money and time.
Professor Chittal is a great guy, but he is a very difficult teacher. He goes through the material very fast, to the point where you won't understand the class unless you put in A LOT of work outside of it. He will help more through office hours, but you will not do well if you need thorough explanations.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He is an awful professor, he barely teaches you what you need to know, and basically just throws problems at you. Quizzes and tests are at least multiple choice, but you have to study hard to just pass his basic accounting class. He is also very hard to understand, and get ready to read and teach yourself the material.
He really cares about his students but I would recommend taking this class in person. Most of the learning is done from reading the textbook because in class he mostly just goes over the homework. For tests and quizzes, you definitely need to study to get a good grade. If you haven't taken an accounting class before, this class will be very hard.
I took the class online and we had 5-6 quizzes and 4 exam and homework on Connect through out the semester but final was graded on based off of just final exam and all the work you do over the semester means nothing. Syllabus says final is 20% but if you fail the final you fail the class even though if you had A throughout. DONT TAKE ACC at CLC.
Jay Chittal has to be one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He truly does not care about what he teaches. He spends the whole class going over a powerpoint, doing 1-2 hw problems, and that's it. He expects you to learn everything on your own. His accent is very hard to understand as well so that does not help.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! . His accent is very thick, hard to understand him. One of the worse parts is it does not matter what you have in the class, if you fail the final you fail the class. I had a B+ throughout the semester, failed the final, my grade turned to a C in the system, but he MANUALLY edit it to an F. Very mean as well.
Wonderful and kind teacher. TAKE CLASS IN PERSON! It makes all the difference. He truly wants to help students succeed as much as he sees students try. Attend class, be present and actually study. Accounting is hard and I needed to put aside time to understand. He helps by practicing problems in class - basically does the hw for you. 10/10 prof
Mr.Chittal is one of my favorite teachers that I have had so far Acc121 is the 2nd of my classes that I have taken with him (the 1st one was ACC110, where I got A), and for sure it is not the last one If you are a handworker, don't only memorize but also understand the subject it is very easy to pass with a high grade in his class.I recommend him.
Mr. Chittal is great professor! I enjoyed this course very much. He is pretty clear that you have to put in the work to pass this course. This class is very challenging, but if you put in the work you will understand it. He gives you a lot of resources to study. If you do the work, he will give you great feedback on your strengths and weaknesses.
What a joke. This guy is as much a college professor as a Mcdonalds employee is a chef. The customer support automated system of higher education. You can tell Jay has zero passion for his job and could care less what impact he has on the students. ChatGPT has more soul in its replies than any feedback or conversation you have with this person.
I made a bad decision to take this class over the summer because this class is a full-time job. I had drop the class after missing the first exam. Jay takes his job way too seriously and puts in minimal effort to educate you. He expects you to perform at the level of an accounting graduate without any regard for your social life.
Professor Chittal's ACC121 class is challenging, but if you put in the work, you'll do well. The lectures may move fast, but the textbook and resources like unstuckstudy are very helpful for understanding the material.
He is rude. He picks his class favorites. Gets bothered if you ask during class. To pass you need a lot of extra work after class. He snatched my test away. Told me I was done and time was up. I get time was up. He could've told me and I would've understood but to snatch my paper at me and tell me I will fail because I am not working hard "enough"?
I came back to review him after taking more accounting courses. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He doesn't know how to teach effectively, you can't understand what he's saying and just reads off the power point. The other accounting professors are 10x better.
Chittal was not a great teacher. He referred to the syllabus a lot but did not follow it. He punished you for missing a class, even if you have a valid reason. Read through the PowerPoint and homework's in class yet the quizzes and exams were nothing like the homework. He says he wants everyone to pass but really its only the people he likes.
