Very interesting, boring class. Taking notes was essential to regurgate back in your journal, which was 2/3 of grade. Final paper 3-7 pages. Prof. claimed he didn't believe in grading system although he sure found it good to give me a low grade for a very "objective" journal.
Jay is wonderful.
Jay's class is not for those who do not desire a challenge; moreover, if you should decide to take up the challenge, the rewards are life-altering. If only all classes in philosophy could be like his... Is this not the point to having such classes?
great professor even better student. there are 2 exams for the final grade. he's very helpful and knowledgeable. will work with you if you have issues or problems. sometimes he touches his face (not a lot).
Jay is truly an interesting character. He has a lot to offer--not entirely understandable in respect to his expectations, but if you can find the time to pick his brain, take advantage of it. I wasn't happy nor agree with my grade, B, but I enjoyed the class...
Awesome professor. I adore his class and he's attractive. He's got tons of energy and love talking to students. He gives you help whenever you need it. Great guy.
This is the best professor ever!! He is a very understanding person. He's there to help students out and does so when he can. When I took his class I was going through my nephews death and he was super supportive and helpful. I would recommend him to anybody. Awesome guy! Oh and he loves it when you participate. Great guy!!
The class is not very hard if you do most of the readings he assigns. There is only 2 essays a mid term and final. Make sure to take notes in class, it will help on essays and he is also very helpful.
You will be hard-pressed to find a more laid back professor. As for his lectures, sometimes they were very interesting, sometimes they were all over the place. He seems to digress and go off on tangents a lot. Can earn an A, but I would suggest you have some interest in the material beforehand--otherwise, will get bored quickly.
Jay is an AWESOME professor. There are only 2 papers and the midterm paper he lets you revise it until you get the grade you want. He's understanding of student's busy lifestyles and always willing to help if needed. GREAT TEACHER.He's even funny so it'll be entertaining even if your not interested in the material..TAKE THE CLASS!!
MR CONWAY IS VERY CONFUSING WHEN IT COMES TO HIS DAILY LECTURES, BUT HE IS THERE TO HELP YOU IF YOU NEED IT.IF YOU FEEL LIKE QUITTING???DON'T!! YOU'LL SURVIVE =)
Jay is a very subjective grader; you bascially have to agree with his stance. He encourages creativity, but at the same time does not want your mind to explore that much. I would not recommend Jay for anyone, unless I hated you. [Aside: He ardently believes that Bill Gates is a moron, draw your conclusions from that]
you dont even have to come to class. read the books and write your own paper. this guy is so laid back you can turn it in whenever you want. was kind of hard in terms of grading but then again i read none of the books. he gives you a chance to revise your things anyway
REWARDING YET CONFUSING! I suggest that you take his class because you're interested in the subject& you are really passionate about learning something. READ, READ, READ! If lectures don't help, which often don't, talk to him after class, he is much better one on one, he goes off tangent much less. He is challenging but so is Philosophy & if y
He's nice enough, but just not very good at what he does. Needs to practice teaching. He should more be clear and direct about what he expects and by what criteria he grades assignments. Don't take his classes. He doesn't teach the material effectively and he'll grade you hard (i.e. arbitrarily).
This professor seems to be either a hit or miss with his grading. Fortunately, he's very helpful to his students. So ask him questions about papers and let him read them to be revised, schedule a meeting or go to his office hrs if needed. He's laid back, don't have to attend class, only 2 papers 1 mid and 1 final.
Material covered is interesting and Prof is a complete Philosophy-Head. Hard to follow lectures sometimes, but he's always available to go over the material again. Super helpful with assignments. I suggest being very open minded when taking him, different kind of teaching style. And sometimes he makes funny faces which is fun to see.
He was easy but not clear in lecture
Very helpful and quite interesting. Its an easy class to pass but sometimes you may get lost in his lectures not because its hard but because he thinks sO OUT THERE and talks the entire time.I would still recomend him. :)
Conway is a cool and laid back guy. Downside? He is such a bore. Classes consisted of him lecturing the entire period; there's no student-teacher interaction at all. The class, however, was easy. You will need to do is write 2 papers. He will even look at them beforehand and tell you where improvements can be made.
this professor is laid back but gets so caught up in his own lecture he forgets hes teaching students
To the reviewers who state that his class is confusing and hard, you must be mentally retarded. Jay is a wonderful wonderful person and teacher. He comes across as laid back, and he is, but he expects you to take responsibility and do the readings. Two essays is all the work you will do in his class and he is more than willing to help in developing it, very approachable and very straightfoward. Jay is a unique gem and has alot to offer if you are interested in learning. Conway for life.
Make sure you do the reading. Jay is a very nice guy, but you can't pass the class unless you pay careful attention, take good notes and actually attend.
Prof. Conway is very laid back and a nice person overall. You must not confuse his class for an effortless one; you must do the reading or else there is really no way of you writing good essays. There are only 2 assignments mid and final. He is passionate about philosophy and wants his students to do well and is very helpful.
he tries to act like the class is soooo hard, that you have to really think and take time writing to the two papers, but its very very easy. he doesn't know what he is talking about though, his TA knows more. no need to go to class at all, just read the books. sooo easy but unless class and didn't learn crap. common sense class.
I would go to class, it pretty much wrote my papers. Plenty of reading but other than that actually go to class, how would you know if its useful or not unless you went? Very helpful as well. I would have your papers checked by him ahead of time to make sure you're on point.
His lectures are boring but you will need to attend in order to know what he wants you to write on the midterm n final. Also make sure you do the readings assigned because it WILL help a lot too. Don't be too stressed out if you think you cant finish the projects because he probably gives you an unexpected grade as long as he sees you're trying.
No concrete structure to the class, hes very laid back and 'just goes with it'. READ THE BOOKS AHEAD OF TIME! i made the mistake of not doing this the first half of the class and i was LOST! Midterm/final are two essays, just show that you are trying to understand whats going on (even if you don't) and he will pass you.
Lecture is a bit boring, since he tends to ramble. Readings are very interesting. Just read and attend a few classes. For the papers, he just wants you to show what you think the material means. Theres not really a wrong/right answer.
very laid back but VERY passionate about philo. Attendance is not mandatory but helpful. He only lectures in class (no group work or extra hw besides reading)He is very helpful & willing to give you a good grade even if u dont understand the material if you at least talk to him & make an effort.
Extremely hard professor. If you're looking for a class with medium reading and medium effort this is not it. Midterm and final are damn near impossible to get good grades on. Theres ALOT of reading to be done and his lectures are painfully boring. Dont take this class unless it's all by itself and you're okay with reading three books that quarter.
the class isnt very interesting, you HAVE to read a lot. there's one paper for a midterm and one paper for a final. both are take home. go to class part of the time because his lectures are helpful, just really boring. make sure when doing the paper to put EVERYTHING in your own thoughts and words, otherwise youll fail. its not too bad though
The teacher is very laid back but his lectures get really boring but they will help in the end. Also if voices drops out when hes talking and its hard to hear him. DO THE READING and go to class and it wont be that hard
Jay is so smart and a great professor, he really knows what he's talking about and is passionate on the subject. Fairly easy to get a good grade in the class, attendance not mandatory but you won't pass if you don't go. He's available for help so if you're struggling seek help.
I loved this class! Jay was an amazing and dedicated instructor. He's very passionate about Philosophy and to his critics, yes if you are not interested in the subject this will be quite difficult for you. He's a cool guy and the class was laid back, but don't think you don't have to be responsible for the work. Highly recommend!!
Great Professor, probably my favorite class ive ever taken at CSULA! Midterm and final are a take home essay. Very helpful. ake sure to go to him, he is VERY helpful. Love him and would take him again, but unfortunately, im not a philosophy major.
Absolutely amazing professor! Very passionate and knowledgeable of material. Would love to take him again, but unfortunately, im not a philosophy major. Midterm and final is a take home essay.
Great Professor! Highly recommend! His lectures are very interesting and he truly has a passion for philosophy. Just two papers to write. Final is a take home. Very helpful when it comes to writing the assignments.
Jay is so brilliant! By far one of my favorite professors from the department. Taking his class is truly a pleasure, it requires a lot of work and dedication but is definitely worth it
Such an inspirational professor! If you need to take philosophy, take him! Best professor in the whole department!
Not an easy class, BUT if you want to learn philosophy, (if that's possible) take this guy! You will not regret it! You will learn more in one of his classes than 20 other philosophy classes combined. Plus, he's not bad to look at! :)
lectures the whole time, hard to stay awake in class, likes you to write essays based on what he believes. Very boring readings.
Wow. Such a brilliant man. All I have to say is everyone should take his class at least once!! C'mon people! Humanity is counting on you!
This Guy is amazing at what he teaches, I hate to read, this guy made it happen. I read more im more interested in things i was never before. Take him, but make sure you do your part too.
Lectures were very boring, but are very helpful for the papers. Jay is very cool. Knows how to teach and makes people laugh. He is very helpful, he will look over your paper before you hand in a final copy.
First time taking Philosophy class. Difficult to understand but great support from the Proffessor. Will go to the extremes to meet up and go over any problem you have with the material.
Take him! He will change your life!!
He is the coolest professor ever, with a chill personality! His class is easy, you don't have to attend class, but you must read. He knows his stuff and goes the extra mile for his students. You'll come out of this class with new knowledge and appreciation for the subject.
The teacher is very knowledgeable. Presents a good discussion during the class. Even though attendance is not mandatory, but it will help you to write your papers. He is easy going. You can ask him questions during his office hours and have nice talk. Very interesting class.
Just remember, class is NOT mandatory. You can just read the texts and do the papers. He is really, really willing to help you with your papers a lot as well.
Great professor. You must do the readings otherwise you'll be lost. Not an easy class. Only two papers to write but a lot of reading and thinking to be done in between. Super helpful if you run into any kind of issues. Highly recommend!!!
This class was boring but awesome. Jay understands when it comes to finals week Most are just out of it,so he tries to fix the schedule around the students, making the class simpler (easier). However reading the books are mandatory because he loves to have discussions. This wasn't a lecture hall class(purelly lecturing).
Jay is an awesome professor! He's very understanding and if you have any issues whatsoever just talk to him. Phil 327 will take a lot of work. Don't think you can get by without reading. Midterm and final.
Midterm and final are take home essays, sounds easy but its not. Class is so boring and you can't understand the lecture since it seems as if he's talking to himself. Straight up lecture. A LOT of reading, and I mean like 200 pages in just a couple of days.
The worst class I have ever taken. Repeats himself on subject material throughout the whole semester. Very boring lectures. Do not recommend
I really enjoyed learning philosophy from Jay. He is very passionate about the material and conveys it in an intelligent way. The class only requires 2 midterm essays and two final essays (both take home). He is very willing to help and does his best to make sure the students understand the material. Plus he is super down to earth! Good luck!
Jay Conway will change your life! He is such an amazing educator. I feel like he should teach a class on how to be an educator. He is such an intelligent human being & I always leave his class with a new perspective. He's basically changing our generation, one classroom at a time. He is also extremely good looking.
Jay Conway for President.
If i had 5 minutes left to live, i would spend them in this class bc it feels like an eternity! Two essays, both easy if you understand the books. His lectures are incredibly boring! Class isnt mandatory though. Go ahead, take him. You will lose your soul from boredom but in the end your grade is actually worth the boredom.
One of the best teachers I have had at csula so far. I had no background in phil before taking this course but I found it to be a life changing experience. He is so insightful and an amazing teacher. He changed my entire perspective on life. If you say he is boring you srsly do not know how to appreciate what a REAL education is.
Dr. Conway is a genius. I can now say that my college education really fulfilled me after taking a class with him. You cannot graduate without taking his class. You will not regret it!
this professor is very very boring all he does is lecture the entire time, the prompt for the essays are very vague and the thing that annoys me the most is he thinks he has to curse every other sentence just to get his point across i wouldn't recommend this class to any of my friends and I'm just being honest by the way i wasn't a lazy student.
Great overall teacher. Lectures entire class time. Reading is a must to understand the topic. Midterm and final is based on the assigned novel/book.
Professor Jay Conway is great. He wants students to learn and is there to help them succeed! He expects a lot from students. Definitely recommend him.
Extremely helpful and enlightening. Would recommend to anyone interested in philosophy
Lecture all days, very boring, unorganized and Overtime often, two difficult take home essays for midterm and final, if you are not philosophy major, and thinking to take this class only because GE requirement; this is not the right planet for you.
Prof. Conway is very enlightening as a previous rating has mentioned. There are 2 take-home essays which is the midterm and final and a lot of reading assigned (book and online/pdf essay). The final grade is based on the average of these two essays. He's a tough grader but if you pay attention in class and read the book, it shouldn't be a problem.
Never take him, unless your major is philosophy. Extremely boring and very unorganized professor. Doesn't explain the material, you have to grasp it on your own, and if you did not understand the concept, too bad, you will get the lowest grade on your essay, even if you made an effort to go to the writing center and worked hard. Avoid if possible.
Don't take this course. Its all very subjective and the essays are the only things used for grades. i am a good writer and i still could not grasp the concepts. he grades hard and you'll be happy you took something else.
If you are engineering major and you want to take easy class to boost your gpa, you are in the wrong class. You will try 10times harder than your engineering classes.
Unclear, unhelpful, unprepared
get ready to read
Get ready to read a lot.
Very intimidating in the beginning of the course, but overall, a good professor. He LOVES talking! His lectures are long and a one way street. Grade based on midterm paper and final paper. All material used from book and his lectures. I'm a good writer and got an A in his class. Be prepared for some deep thought and personal reflection!!
tests are tough
I loved this class. It was challenging, but accessible. If you are not a good writer get help from him because he will help you. And during these help sessions you may develop a huge crush on his brain. idk Don't fall behind on the reading. The material is interesting, but not an easy read. So cramming is not a great option. And ya he is hott.
He is a hard grader and he wants you to read a lot. Its not an easy A class. You need to try very hard for this class.
Quite a challenging class. There is just a take home midterm and a take home final. Starting from day one and every day after until the end of the quarter, he mentions your two papers. Be prepared to take extreme notes and show up to the two study classes he gives (each 3-4 hours long). THESE STUDY WILL HELP!!!!!
Readings are challenging yet interesting. Lectures are long and he welcomes questions and peer engagement. One midterm One final both take home papers. Took about 3 weeks to get midterm back. He lectures on the last day of class before collecting final paper.
Take home mid-term and finals
He is extremely passionate about his philosophy. Overall great professor he really motivates you and inspires you not only in the classroom but to make a difference in real life. But his lectures are extremely dull. he can easily turn an hour turns into 5. No cell phones in class or he will cuss you out. Overall. read a lot and you'll do good.
Authentically interested in teaching and helping you out. He isn't there just to get a pay check. Extremely passionate about philosophy, even while teaching a lower level philosophy class with too many apathetic students.
A genuinely interesting course. By far one of the most engaging professors I've had the pleasure to have. The readings assigned involve having you to really think and analyze the material - but are well worth it. Read and ask questions!
his lectures are unclear. He requires too much reading for his class like if his class is the only one you're taking. Grades you on only a take home midterm and final. He comes off pretty rude when asking for help regarding revision about your midterm & final. Worst professor I've ever had. I have never felt so lost in life until I took his class.
unprofessional, unclear, unorganized, rude, boring
Your grade is solely based on 2 assignments a take home midterm and final and that's it. He talks so much during his lectures and you HAVE to read the material in order to fully grasp his concepts. That being said, if you're taking the class expecting to get by without reading and attending class you will not pass. It's a hard class.
A good teacher in any case can not be a good while until carries the burden of personal responsibility for their actions
I was really scare to take his class after reading here how hard he is, which is true! You MUST read to pass his class!! Extremely helpful if you attend his "help sessions". Never thought I would get an A in his class but if you read, think and analyze you'll be fine! Also go to his office, his grade is base on 2 take home essays only!!
Amazing professor. This is not an easy class, but it's not impossible. He's honestly a really good person, as well as being a good professor and passionate about his work. I was taking 4 other classes this quarter (microbiology, ochem lecture and lab, and math) and still had time to read, so you guys can do it too.
Amazing professor. This is not an easy class, but it's not impossible. He's honestly a really good person, not only a great professor. I was taking 4 other classes this quarter (microbiology, ochem lecture and lab, and math) and still had time to read, so you guys can do it too.
Conway is a very tough grader. I attended every single class and went to every single help session and all I received were general feedback comments such as , " you're going in the right direction" or "elaborate more", but nothing more helpful than that. Reading Material is Hard and his lectures are abstract compared to what you are trying to read.
He has a problem with concentration , UNSURE OF HIMSELF , absent-minded professor
One of my favorite professors I have ever had, hands down. His lectures are intense but super in depth and worth while. A lot of other reviews complain that he is tough or all over the place and it is only because he teaches in a way that forces the students to make an effort to think for themselves. RECOMMEND if you are looking to open your mind
He is definitely one of the coolest professors I've taken at Cal State LA. Make sure you thoroughly read the book he assigns because that's the only way you will get a good grade on his papers. He is a great teacher and very fair to students. You need to put in the work to get an A. You will definitely learn a lot from his lectures.
This is a one of a kind class. Conway's lectures are incredibly deep and make you think. Hard class, hard material, but totally worth it. Conway holds his students to a higher standard and you truly learn in this class, unlike most bs classes at CSULA. Even though its hard, would recommend the class. Gives feedback on papers before turning in
your grade is based on the midterm and final. for the midterm he assigns 2 questions that you answer in 3 pages and for the final he has 6 questions but you only pick 3 that you answer in 2 pages. the papers are take home. you need to attend class so that you hear him explain the readings and concepts. if you dont attend you wont pass. he is good!
Jay is awesome. Got discouraged reading comments on here about him but he turned out to be a fascinating guy. Very passionate and cares about actual learning, not memorizing info to pass a test. He teaches how to think for yourself. his Philosophy of gender/culture class was more like Beauvoir 101 but it was cool. I'd take his class again.
My only mistake in his class that i didn't go to see him for the essay assignment for the midterm. I did bad on midterm, but i went to see him before final. He helped me a lot. Don't get cocky like you know this subject, just go to see him. I wish all my professors were as passionate about the subject they teach as him. He is a LEGEND.
I don't like his lecture. It is really boring.
IF YOU ARE NOT A PHILOSOPHY MAJOR DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is very rude to students, doesn't allow students use there laptop to take notes during class and will kick you out if he catches you on your phone. Stands front of the room and just lectures and expects you to follow and take notes. Your whole grade is dependent on two paper.
If you are a philosophy student or just simply serious about your education, ignore the haters here. Jay knows his stuff, and he is way into it too. His courses are lecture intensive, which, in my experience, have been the most valuable ones. Jay's rendering of topics is thoughtful and exciting. The readings were brilliantly selected too.
I regret taking him and not passing. I should have withdrawn from him asap but I didn't. If you guys are really interested in taking him go ahead, just make sure you guys have the passion for that class otherwise, don't waste your time. Also, he speaks like there is nothing to lose such as speaking like he's reading a story. Writing notes is hard
One of the most difficult professors I've taken by far at CSULA. Make sure to read assigned readings before lectures or else you'll get lost. Midterm is base on 2 papers 3 page min. and final 3 papers 2 page min. He's only difficult if you don't like to think for yourself. Don't expect everything to be handed to you. This class is life changing.
He's very intelligent and is really passionate about Phil. But he always goes off on a tangent in the middle of lecture and has a conversation with the class (mostly people in the front) then forgets where he left off. You must read ahead of time in order to understand his lectures. No tests just 2 essays for the midterm and 3 essays for the final.
Went into this class fairly excited just based off the course name & description & left absolutely hating it. This professor LOVES to say he wants his students to participate and hear our thoughts but anytime a student spoke up he was a jerk and belittled their opinion. He is super repetitive, boring, lecture heavy, and all around rude. DONT TAKE!!
he's a philosophy teacher & he does it with a high level of integrity. he is perhaps the most passionate about the subject among the department .he will convince you of the importance, to have an understanding of the history in philosophy. in the long term its for the better. classes R boring, long, monotone. students - learn 2ask more questions
I took Phil 3330 and found it to be thought provoking and insightful. Yes, some of the content is a little confusing but after all, it IS a philosophy class. The class is not excruciatingly hard and Jay gives pretty good feedback. Don't let the bad experiences of other students keep you from taking any of his classes. Take notes and you'll be good.
He loves philosophy & can get lost on tangents while talking about it. Not a walk in the park because it IS philosophy, but he understands that it's challenging & appreciates effort more than anything. Do the readings, be ready to talk in class. Graded by attendance/participation, midterm and final (take home essays). flexible w due dates, nice guy
Hes the worst. Philosophy is all about different interpretations of a story and if you dont view it the same way he does he discredits you and says your theory is wrong. Worst class ever
He seems like a cool dude thats because he is. His lectures are heavy and you will need to take notes. You mostly watch movies and read the text he assigns. Plus you only have 3 essays in total to do, hes really lenient on the due dates. It may seem like youll fail his class for sure, but hell surprise you (if youre lucky)
This professor is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Always available to give feedback and extra help. He is super nice, but just wished he would cut or at the very least brush his hair.
As you should for any other college class, plan to read. Conway gives you more than enough time to read, and his lectures do a great job of breaking down the difficult material. Just show up to class prepared and take awesome notes and you'll be fine. He likes that people show up and have something to say about the readings.
This is a required class for Art Eduactors. I recommend you not take this class unless you have had this professor before. He is GREAT at teaching Phil but neglected students who don't know anything about it. Also I love to read but his readings are looong and we don't talk about everything in the articles, one of the TOUGHEST graders.
Jay is AWESOME but I had to get used to his style. I get what others are saying on here. However** DROP YOUR GUARD! Ask if youre confused why youre learning something or what you should be focusing on! He gives you a ton of room for individual expression but you have to prod around to figure out what that means you might be able to/want to do.
Are you serious about your education? Do you want to challenge yourself intellectually? Do you want to grow as a writer because you are willing to put in the required work? Are you an adult who doesn't need to be treated with kid gloves and fake kindness? If so, take Jay's classes. If not, don't. His classes are for big-boy students, not C-surfers.
very knowledgeable, with a great sense of humor. three essays; thought-provoking articles.
Jay is cool! He talks a lot during lectures and doesn't assign any work besides the two essays and one reading discussion. Great, fair grader. Honestly, all I did was sparknotes all my stuff and he was impressed by the essays so you don't need to try TOO hard. Overall pretty good.
Your grade is based on a midterm and final essay. If you read the texts you will do well. He mostly lectures and can do so for quite a long time, and it is not unusual for him to ramble off topic. However, this does not mean dont ask him to stay on track, or share irrelevant ideas because you will be met with microaggressions from him. Fragile ego.
Super cool Professor with great lectures. Excellent at explaining things and very approachable.
Very Rude to his students who have a hard time understanding the material. His feedback is also really harsh. Read and take good notes if you want to do well in his class.
An absolute mensch. He threatens to make you a better writer and more critical reader on day one, and definitely follows through if you keep your side of the bargain. ALWAYS do the reading; even the difficult avant-garde stuff, and you'll do fine. In his course, big realizations are often preceded by massive doubts--don't give up.
Attendance is not mandatory, but I would highly suggest if you want to pass. We read Mills on Liberty, but you can find it online for free. He is straightforward on what he grades you on, tells you what to fix without making you feel idiotic over mistakes. There are no pwr. pt's so take notes as he speaks, ask questions he always clears them up :)
As a non-philosophy major, this class was confusing yet insightful. It's unfortunate that we were graded on just two essays, the midterm and final, but I would say he is a generous grader so it's okay. The average class day is one big lecture and nothing else. He even goes 5-10 minutes past the schedule.
I was in 2 of his classes for this semester spring 2022. Phil 4200 and phil 3270. He is very kind and has a funny sense of humor. Love when he laughs at his own jokes. He is also very understanding as he had stated he himself has been through a lot. I was not able to attend many classes due to a busy schedule but he is very understanding.
His lectures are hard to follow(many tangents).Majority of lecture is just talking(rarely writes on the board).Hard class for non-philo students. But he REALLY cares about his students & can be very understanding.Grade is 2 essays & if u put effort, u will do well.He grades very generously especially if u show effort. He is always avail for help!
I had him for 2 classes at the same time and am taking his class again. He is super sweet, quirky, and cares about his students. In order to really understand what's going on, I suggest you do read at least some of the assigned work. He responds to emails & is understanding. If you're taking this cause you think its an easy req., you're wrong.
Conway's lecture are tangent heavy however his class is easy and it gives you an understanding of the subject. He's a tough grader specially with his essays be sure that you are putting your best.
Very harsh essay grader.Doesnt give clear essay instructions and his lectures are all over the place.I respectfully regret taking his class.
He wants you to think his way and not open to different opinions. He likes to curse a lot . A lot . His comments on HW isn't helpful a lot
Lectures can be hit-or-miss, but the essays are the real challenge. Stick to the reading and use unstuckstudy to help prep - it saved me a lot of time compared to ChatGPT alone. Overall, a decent class if you put in the work.
I took him for PSY3080 He was an ok professor. When I asked questions, he would make it more confusing when I just needed help. Hard to meet with him outside of class and he grades pretty roughly. He's nice and willing to help but this was a tough class & no assignments only graded on exams. Id consider taking him again but if you struggle dont.
Dr Conway's philosophy research and writing course was fantastic. His course requires reading, writing and note-taking. He is preparing students to write and research papers in other classes. His choice of reading texts exposes students to different philosophers. Very passionate teaching. Would definitely take another course with him.
