Nice guyand not boring. Helpful, he wants to make sure you learn the material.
The guy is very smart, and very much into teaching. His quizes and test are hard, you better know this stuff to pass. He give like 15 different version for each quiz/test. Heh cheaters nightmare. Honestly he is one of the best teachers around. But hard.
he is a ball-buster dont even bother with this guy...better off taking prof. Ji
He's extremely difficult, belittles the students, and can careless if you pass or not. Extremely difficult quizzes (non-stop) and exams. Doesn't curve. I do not recommend!!!
VERY ARTICULATE, INTERESTING SPEECHES...MANY REAL LIFE EXAMPLES... ALOT OF QUIZES & TESTS (DIFFICULT) ...SO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP UP WITH THE READINGS...ALOT OF BLACKBOARD USE... PAY ATTENTION...AND READ EVERYTHING MORE THEN ONCE..
"You don't know Finance until you take Jay Dahya" It's completely true. One of the hardest classes I've ever had but I've learned more from him than in any other Finance class. Recommended only if you want to learn about Finance
Very uneasy on students; makes a lot of uncomfortable comments; unclear explanations
He's a hard Prof., but it 122% assurity that u really learn alot from him. He is strict, but very very nice. He makes u laugh like hell in his classes. Teaches in a very interesting manner. I would advice everyone to take him even though he's hard.
****. into himself. loves to listen to himslef talk. no formula sheet on cumulative final!!!
Though funny, very arrogant. He knows a lot but his explanations are very complicated, hard to understand. Quizes and exams require a lot of work. More than necessary. Questions are tricky and too theoretical. Be careful with him.
If you want to maintain a perfect major GPA, he's not for you. If you want to walk away from the class LEARNING about corporate finance then definitely take him, you may not get an A but you'll definitely learn
He is a great teacher. I learned a lot in his class. He makes you work hard but as long as u study and pay attention the tests are easy.
Very hard prof, with a very complicated attitudes. He make fun on some students, and he is very rude. He actually doesn't explain what is going to be in the test, but you must read a lot the book and also his notes, which are different from the book.BAD
He is the best professor i ever had.I have learned alot from him. His explaination is very clear. His lectures are very interesting. but you have to pay attention to his lecture and keep up with readings. His exams and quizes are fair.
He's hard... make no mistake. But if u are gonna go into the world of Finance and work in the financial sector, he is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. His humor is not for every1, but I found him funny and interesting always. One of the few classes I never fell asleep
Plan and Simple, The Man's an ****....he is mean and gives many quizes. If you ask him a question, he makes you feel stupid (thats what he does best) and tends to belittles male students.....but you learn a lot.
very competent and knowledgable
Excellent professor, knows his stuff and you learn a lot. A lot of work but worth it.
He is one of the best professors I came come across. Made me more interested in M & A and deepened my desire to go in the field of M & A
he knows what he's doing. dedicated to his work.
Excellent professor. Very thorough, always takes time to explain even the stupidist query a student has to ensure everybody understands and does not feel left behind. One of the best professors I have had so far.
Proj. Jay is one of the best professors I've had in Baruch. He knows his stuff well and comes to class always prepared. His unique sense of humor makes the class more interesting.
Very interesting class, knows his subject
Very Knowledgeable in the area.
Excellent Professor. Challenging coursework so you are sure to learn something - but in the end not a superhard grader (though not an easy A). Reinforcement of what you learned in other finance classes but actually applied to a good number of cases. Lots of new material and ways of looking at things
an instructor who knows his job. has a huge knowledge base and can be a good instructor in future for the school. a valuable asset in financial terms.
If anyone gets a chance to take his class...TAKE IT !!! The best professor I have had till date. My only recommedation for him is he should be a little more clear on what he lays emphasis for grading. All in all there are not better than him out there.
Pr. Dahya is a hard-working, knowledgeable professor, very dedicated. However, I felt he could have offered more explanation to our group case studies so we could better understand our errors and learn. I was disappointed by my grade (could have been a notch higher), but learned much about finance.
Great course and great professor. Real-life experiences and his impressive credentials lend credibility to his teachings. A lot of work is required in the course - but will well equip you for any other finance course. Made me interested in M&A.
This is an excellent professor who is extremely enthusiastic about his work.
Best professor in Baruch College, know his stuff!!!!
I enjoyed the class immensely. There is a lot of work that is put into the class but it is also the most I have learned in this program overrall.
One of the best teacher I never had at University and I studied in different coutries....
if you take one class at baruch take his mergers class. you will relearn finance and enjoy it
Really difficult exams and projects. Assigned seatings, crazy note taking, strict rules, and comprehensive course material. Great teacher and knows what he's talking about. however, this can take a toll on ur social life and other time u can spend on other subjects. Group projects plus other committments. No practice exams to study from.
Killer class. 30 percent of MBAs dropped the course after the first exam. Overwhelming if you didn't learn basic corp finance and fin accounting principles in the first place. But the professor is extremely intelligent. Other than that, this class was hell in terms of course work!
I agree with other people here. Exams are killer. Greatly complements ur corp fin knowledge but thats it! Most of us wont go into M&A anyway. Extremel challenging. Many dropped classes. But professor is unbelievable with his passion for teaching. If you care about grades, avoid this class. But if u like to learn, take him!
Took this class thinking it will increase my knoledge in corp fin. Although Dahya is brilliant, this class took away lots of time and committment that I could've used on other classes. In fact, most of principles here can be learned in REF 4200 - Real Estate Finance course and evaluation method I learned there landed me job with Merrill Asset MGT
We were left very much to ourselves when it came to exams and projects. He's tough so he won't try to accomodate to your personal needs like other professors. He is strict and difficult in class. Only thing I can agree is that he knows his stuff. But nothin in this class taught me something that I didn't learn elsewhere. Exams long and class avg 73
I honestly took this class because it was labeled mergers and acq. Challenging work. Killer exams! I spent 4 yrs at CFSB and yet still found this class challenging. However knowledge here helped me with other real estate classes. Those classes are in demand right now.
Difficult? Too much work? Time consuming? Why are you in MBA program anyway? Isn't that how one is supposed to study in school anyway to deserve a good grade? Dahya is awesome! A chance to learn finance from former Merrill Lynch Investment Banker!
This class was a lot like history of M&A. Quantittive side of the class was just review of many techniques learned in other classes. Real Estate Finance and Investment class provided key tools to complement this class. Class was hard and not worthy of my time. Prof is a good one though. Keeps u entertained but thats about it
I got two classes with Jay - very good teaching material and a hardcore finance person also from a mentality and attitude point of view. Learnt a lot on finance. Is the enemy #1 for accountants!
Awesome professor! He has a wealth of experience & knowledge. He teaches material that is not covered in any other finance class. If you are serious about finance, do yourself a favor and take his course. He may be demanding but you will walk out of his class a better person/student.
very harddddd
He is very good and knowledgable but perfunctory in approach. Veers off tangent. Great showman who is overrated by star struck students.
Great Professor. You have to study ur u know wat off though and it pays off. But i have to be honest and say that hes kind of intimidating at first. Study ur slides in detail and outline the text and u should b fine
Prof Dahya is one of the best finance professors in the school. His class is not easy but if your goal is to learn this is a great class. He covers what is extremely useful aside from other finance classes that simply teach how to plug in numbers into formulas with no thinking involved.
He is very hard, and doen't listen to what students have to say. Everything must be his way, even when he is wrong. DO NOT TAKE HIM, unless you want to reduce your GPA.
One of the best classes and professors that I have taken during my graduate studies at Baruch. This class is the epitome of what Finance classes should be because the professor's teaching style keeps you interested and focused on each of the topics. It's obvious that he truly enjoys teaching!
A professor who has the working credentionals to back up his teaching skills.
Excellent teacher, has the knowledge and experience to teach such complicated topic. The course is challenging but also quite itneresting, so if you re not afraid of doing your share of work and want to learn the real world, then def. take him!
Arrogant & well experience. He teaches ok. He is no Ted Joyce but an ok professor. If you want to learn and lower your GPA because he grades as if he's blind -go for it.
Interesting subject, arrogant but good professor. he seems to be tough at first, but class average is B+ range. . qualitative rather than quantatative class. The class were full of a**kissers and self-claimed elites in Baruch, but usually they are not good students. just ignore them .the class gives you new perspective on finance.highly recommend
Great Professor, if you want to really learn about mergers and acquisitions take him, he is tough and hard, but very knowledgeable, will open door for you to learn many more advance subjects.
You will work hard, but you will also learn a lot. One of the best professors in the school.
The most competent, intelligent professor I've encountered at Baruch.Outshines everyone else by far. You will have to work hard, but you will learn a lot.Not only his lectures are captivating, the guy speaks impeccable English.Outstanding class and professor!
The key to success in this class is to read and re-read prof.'s notes and the textbook and memorize ALL of the material for the exams. Assignments are helpful in the learning process but will not make much difference for your final grade. Level of teaching clearly higher than Baruch average...
Dahya is a very knowledgeable person. He teaches you how to think instead of just plugging in numbers into formula. One of the smartest and richest professor I've encountered so far. He can be intimidating at first because he knows so much more than you, definitely recommended you guys to take him. 2 test/2 projects
M&A- Not as hard as everyone says he tries to intimidate the class which is rediculous. (He thinks it works). Class averages on the exams were in the 60's but with the curve the became B's. You do have to study for his class, however. If you want to graduate with a stress free semester this isn't the class for you.
Ive never rated a professor here but i feel its an obligation on my part to do so for Prof. Dahya. This guy is a genius.A very challenging class which means youll learn a lot which also means you probably wont get an A. I got a B+ and im happy because i know i learned a lot. This guy builds remarkable interest for the subject and makes you love it!
He is the best Finance prof I ever had. He teaches you beyond the book. And that's what all profs should do. His class is not that easy. You have to work really hard. Five quizzes, he drops the lowest one, 2 exams, and a final, which I found so hard. Ah, he looks HOT!
At first I thought this class would be like taking two classes because he tries to intimidate you with the massive Blackboard documents and his lectures. This class is allll about memorization. The exams are all about memorization and one long NPV problem. One midterm, two group projects and one final. One person got an A in my class. I got a B.
He is crystal clear. His lectures are interesting and very engaging. He explains everything really well. Nonetheless, he isn't the easiest professor. He gives 5 quizes and 3 exams. Exams are extremely hard especially the final. I got a B+ for the class but I am grateful since I learned a lot. If you want to learn take his class. Highly recommended.
Rude, arrogant, loves to humiliate ppl in front row.On the other hand, absolutely rystal clear teaching. He really really knows his stuff. You will learn a LOT and then some. You will need to put your blood and sweat into this class, its no joke.If you wanna learn, take him. If you want an A, ask God for a little help cuz you can't do it by yourself.
I'm gonna miss this class. Professor kept the lectures interesting and quite educational. At first Jay does come off as cocky/arrogant, but thats because he knows his sh*t! You will learn a lot in this class, it's guaranteed. Take this if you like Finance, avoid it if you're just trying to complete a requirement.

Prof Jay instructed a 4-day session at Merrill Lynch on advanced M&A strategies/ techniques. He was introduced by the exec president of the IB group at ML, they are old buddies from Europ. He is extremely smart and knows the subject area better than guys in the group who had 10+ IB experience. He is hard and to the point in class but excellent.
Best instructor at Merill Lynch. Has ability to explain complex structured products in an easy to understand way. Cases were hard and very relevant to what I do everyday as a senior analyst. Thanks Prof Jay for an enjoyable 3 days.
He is an arrogant, haughty and stubborn professor. He is very strict and the class is extremely hard. Nonetheless, he will make the every lecture austerely interesting and enjoyable. Do not miss any lecture. There are 6 quizes and 3 exams, final is cumulative. Text book is a must and practicing the problem helps a lot. Getting an a is hard as hell.
He is very strict on attendance and on time all the time...2 midterms (20 MC)..NO CHEAT SHEETS...1 final(MC+short problems)...NO CHEAT Sheets...if you are those who cramp at the last minute like i did...its hell....HE IS FUNNY and Very Knowledgeable...he teaches very well
He is the best of the best of the best. --- Professor in Baruch ---
This professor is unique(in a negative way). I am sry to say but i have no clue if ppl b4 me got the same nice prof.. I picked him cause of nice reviews from previous students. However, i was utterly disappointed. He is simply terrible and living in old world. Asks us to remember all formulas & is the PROF who gives 6 choices in The exams. STY AWY.
I thought he was absolutely BRILLIANT. Very tough. You have to come to class in order to understand the material. on top of that you have to follow EVERYTHING in the syllabus. Go to him for help he doesn't bite. You will learn a lot if you want to learn. Not an easy A. I studied 3 weeks for his final. Brilliant professor!!! Highly recommended.
Excellent teacher if you like to work hard. To get a good grade is not easy. I work hard but only get B. He is very clear in explaining concepts and exams and assignments are not easy. You will learn in his class - but prepare to work hard.
Professor Dahya is a great orator. His lectures are very entertaining.I agree with those who said that HE KNOWS HIS STUFF.However, there isn't much for you from his stuff.Be prepared for self studying cause his lectures are useless for his exams.Final is cumulative. Not recommend for nonfinance majors-it's just too much for the elective class.I got A
Professor Jay is entertaining and has a knowledge of corporate finance better than all my other finance profs. Class and exams are not easy but this guy prepares you well for the future after Columbia U. I work at a hedge fund now and use what I learned.
i loved the class. it is very challenging but extremely interesting. he is very clear and he makes M&A very enjoyable. exams are crazy HARD!! if you want a good grade, don't take him; but if you want to learn finance, he's the guy.
This guy is a genius! He knows his stuff and teaches the course beyond the book. This class puts the pieces of finance puzzle together and show you how all that u learnt in corpfin and finanalysis is applied at work. if u get a chance, TAKE HIM. but u better work hard, otherwise u wont get a good a grade. U have to work even for a B- in this cours
extremely hard but i learned to appreciate his no-cheat-sheet mentality because now i can go on interviews and tell them what i know about M&A, without textbook! also he really knows what he's talking about. i was super surprised to get an A-. this is the hardest i've studied for a course in baruch. highly recommend but get ready to learn.
No question he's a superb banker n entertaining prof. But he goes too slow(at leastin this term)and is cramming materials in last minute. He surely can answer advanced questions from a few pretentious students but its not so useful to an average student whos eager to learn entry level M&A.Surely he teaches"real world"but i dnt find it too impressive.
Yeah!! He is super smart, super knowledgeable, super bright and he assumes that his students are as well as himself. M&A is a very hard class for itself and he made it harder...
Dahya's class will challenge you, if you have no prior internship or job experience in Finance. However, he is an excellent instructor and if you did well in your other finance courses and understand the material, the class should serve as a way to center all of those concepts. He grades VERY hard so be prepared to have your GPA sink. I got a B.
This guy's a baller ragged on me b/c I sat in the front. I got an A-, and I was pleasantly surprised. To say something new, if you want to do well read the book 3 times and all the assigned questions 3-5 times for a successful A. The quantitative part isn't that hard, but practice makes perfect. Note that 30% of your grade is based on group stuff
Overall excellent experience. Class was very interesting, well-taught, and well-organized. Everything you need to succeed is there. Goes through course material slowly to facilitate depth of knowledge. The professor is blunt and honest, relays critiques of Baruch students made by Wall Street firms. One of the best Finance classes; take it.
Very knowledgable professor. He is fair and nice. Extends deadlines. Exams are based off of Connect. 2 Midterms (total 40%), 1 final (40%) + homework (20%). Final is difficult but not new. If you study and go to class, you'll do well. Textbook required if you really want to learn. I got an A in the class :)
do not buy textbook. notes are very detailed! i would recommend just going over the connect plus problems over & over. his tests are very similar to them. 2 midterms & 1 final. hw 20%. no curve. one negative - makes you memorize all formulas. no cheat sheet.
He is a great orator with terrific speaking abilities. However, his lectures don't help on his exams much. Memorizing how to do the HW,assessment and quiz examples are the best way to study since formula sheet is NOT ALLOWED! First 2 tests were fair. Final was unreasonably long and impossible. Average was 62.5. Take him if you are satisfied with B.
One of the best profs ever. Can answer all the questions. Work load is extremely heavy. Exams aren't tricky but require you memorize everything. The group assignments will **** you, though. Take this class if you want to learn about finance.
nice & fun. 2 of the assessments were changed into extra credit assignments. He curved so that students scoring the class avg got B's. A word of caution: The first 2 exams r easy, but don't be fooled. The final exam is very long and much harder than the first 2 exams. I expected an easy final and prepared very little. Luckily, I still got an A :)
I didn't really study that much and pulled off with okay grade. His exams were not that hard but they're not easy either. With no formula sheet allowed it can be a pain in the ass. When the term just began he was real nasty when it came to attendance and lateness. He extends deadlines a lot. Overall he is somewhat cool guy. Class is boring though.
He is very rude, arrogant, and has a high oppinion of himself. That aside, however, he explains well and pushed us to work hard and really understand the material. It was a very educational class even but you need to be fully dedicated to the subject to do well. He has two group assignments, midterm, killer final. I studied and was able to get A.
What can I say. A class for winners. If you want to break into IBD,this is what you need to know. On his group projects don't over-think the answer is inside the box. Losers will perish. I got a B+, but I was working 65 hours in the bank and had no time to study. If your weak, then you will get slaughtered.
Professor Dahya is the man. All the Finance courses were closed, so I got permission to take this class because it fit my schedule. I didn't know what to expect, but he exceeded my expectations. He's driven, passionate, fair, and most importantly, he genuinely cares about his students. Advice! Work on the study plan! Do the homework! Study up.
A great speaker, even though sometimes the lectures are not relevant to the coursework. Coursework is manageable and the best way to learn is through doing the homework over and over again. took this class in the summer, 40% final , 20% midterm, 20% quizzes, 20% homework.Class is curved with B- as the average grade.
I wish he has more classes at Baruch. The best class I had so far! He teaches really well and his class is very fun and interesting. But you need to study hard...
He is sometimes rude to his students. He helps however a lot. He answers emails, and questions. During summer, he wanted too much though. Very intense. There was no time to study properly for final, since the last quiz and HW was a day before due! Always a smile in his face!!!!
Difficult class. the first two midterm I on the average. but the final is hard. Final cover all over the places and the conceptual writing short answers. Study everyday and barely pass. And I don't know why people gave so much high rating on him.
Class for Winners. You have to study hard, do tons of homework, read textbook and oonly then if you are really good at solving problems FAST and ACCURATE you'll succeed on the tests. if not, dont take this class. Prof is really good though, gives handouts, explains topics really well. it is just his tests that are way too long and tricky.
I learned more about finance in his class than any other. He have to work your ass off, but you will learn for sure. 3 exams and online h.w. I got a C but I'm not complaining because I earned it! That says all.
I took this class while the department was trying a hybrid experiment partially online and partially in the class. Professor Dahya is an exception professor. He is very fast paced and he makes you work during the entire duration of his course. However, after completing his class, there is no doubt that you would have left well informed. Exceptional
Took him in summer 2013. Got an A- by mastering the financial calculator. Reading the book was important, but knowing how to plug problems into the calc was key. Professor's lectures were pretty good, sometimes boring; he made a lot of hilarious jokes in between to make it lively. I would definitely take him again.
Took Jay's class in the Spring of last year. Think of it as a Corp Finance class that leans towards consulting investment banking content wise. This class will make you work for your grade. Tests are 85% MCQ and the remainder is short answer questions. Make sure to memorize the ratios and practice your FCF. You will be fine if you try.
This guy by far the best Professor in New York. If you want to learn something, take him. it won't be easy, but he's worth it. You'll learn great financial tips you can learn for life, and your courses going forward will be much easier because he really makes you understand the material. If you're lazy, pass. If you actually want to learn- take him
Great professor.
great professor for the Executive MBA program
Had Prof. Jay Dahya will at Porto Business School in Porto Porgugal. By far the best teacher we had so far at the Executive MBA.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. No clue how he got such a high rating when everyone hates him so much. He is unbelievably hard for no reason. He teaches you nothing and when it comes to the exam, you supposed to do 20 hard questions where one question might take 3 pages to solve. Don't even wanna talk about hw which will take 3 days to solve to get 90. Run
Don't know why he is rated to highly. He is very unreasonably hard. Concepts are very hard to grasp. And the final is KILLER.
He doesn't teach you!... You must learn by yourself!... Read the book, slides and do the homework and that's all.
The only useful thing about this class is assessment preparations (solutions from the instructors manual where you could find info skipped in the book). Yet, most of the problems are solved algebraically so you need to spend extra time to figure out how to use the calculator which is on top of book time. Take this class with someone who teaches!
STOP! DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Worst professor ever. Level of difficulty of his exam and notes is absolutely random. his exams are way to hard than what he teaches.. very very bad professor.
I think it is quite simple. If you feel like you are on the Columbia level (where he also teaches) or you're striving for that level then you should take this class. His expectations are quite simple, read the book, understand it well and come prepared with questions so that there can be a meaningful discussion. His insight is quite priceless.
The most difficult class in Baruch. Do not take his class. A lot of homework. Tough exams. He only talks over the PowerPoint once, and never explain again. students have to figure out by themselves.
Very hard class but I have learned a lot! If you can manage to get a B or above, u gotta know your finance facts straight cuz his level of expectations are beyond what you'd expect
It is ironic how he mentions Columbia and his students opening bodegas and liquor stores because sure thing you know nothing about corporate finance to be able to work anywhere else. This is a complete self-study class with no value provided by the instructor.
Honestly, he's straight with you from the getgo. He tells you to drop the class if you're looking for EZ It's clear that his class is on a higher level, you should be able to read a finance book and undrstd it. His exam questions require you to use your brain and knwldg not just memrz. Take if you think you're on Colombia level Lec are intrstg but
I don't know how he got all this good ratings. He is one of the worst professors I have ever taken at Baruch. You have to teach everything to yourself. Try to avoid him if you can.
Great professor! Inspirational and motivational. You will learn a lot.
Get ready to learn and do problems.
Nice guy. But instead of teaching the material, he wastes time talking about his investments. Midterms are not hard as long as you go to class, do the homework and the practice exam. Final is tough but fair.
This guy is the best professor at baruch. if your not willing to work you shouldn't be here
DO NOT SCROLL. He's a great professor, but that's not why I'm writing this review. Just know that if you take his class, you CANNOT cheat on exams. I'm not sure whether Baruch knows, but he just VIDEO RECORDED us with panorama WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE during the midterm to catch students in the act. This is just a warning, pass it on.
Amazing professor. Means business, industry veteran, knows everything inside and out. You can't cheat on anything. Have to be willing to work hard and genuinely WANT to learn otherwise, you'll fail. To the review complaining about video recording, read the syllabus that you signed and just study and prepare. No tricks, all business. He's awesome.
Lol I didn't sign anything. He violated all of his students' rights by recording us without our knowledge, and I'm not even one of the ones who were cheating.
Jay is as corporate as his material, but very interpersonal. Be punctual, do all the work, and be competitive and he will have no problem with you. If you are behind, he will help you out, but earning an A requires you to never miss a beat, as Baruch requires. He takes disrespect pretty seriously; he'll chuckle at your incompetence.
Exams are not easy to say the least. It's a self teaching class since the lectures only cover a small portion of the material, but i wouldn't recommend skipping class he gives great pointers and advise for the hmwrk/exams. attendance must(can ask friend to sign),Overall he has good lectures, but I would stay away from his classes. HARD PROFESSOR !!!
To be honest, this class is difficult, but I don't know why he makes me feel that it is not difficult. I was able to complete it smoothly. The usage of each calculator was listed and demonstrated in detail. He answered all questions patiently. It can be seen that he knows a lot and knows how to convey knowledge to everyone. Great teacher
Exams are extremely tough even with putting in a lot of hours outside of class. Disrespectful to students and does not offer help when asked. Basically he doesn't give you an opportunity to get an A on the exams. He's a great professor as far as teaching the material but not as far as testing and I worked hard in this class.
Decent Prof teaching a hard course. Not very accommodating but for 3610 I dont think there are any better options. majority of the grade is achieved through hw and quizzes on connect. final was difficult but doable. You def have to put in the work for this class.
This class was hard, Because we need learn that much, He was the one who really working in those area, he knows whats going on here. Just be ready to learn Quiz and homework everyweek. Extra credit: Yes Good feedback: Yes Exam hard: For me only the final, it was 3 crazy hard questions which I totally don't know how to do it. all others easy.
He was honestly a great professor, it's a hard course but Jay does his best in explaining the material. His PowerPoints can be a bit dry but he goes into detail for each concept. My only real complaint would be that he isn't very accommodating for make-ups or tests. Mid-term wasn't hard if you paid attention, his final was definitely hard.
I don't know how anyone can enjoy having this guy as a teacher. Dude is a total stuck up pompous grade A douché. Makes a subject so simple incredibly difficult and infuriating. He grades like a great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jelly and I'm surprised the college pays him this much to teach us literally NOTHING. Rehash of a previous class!
Honestly, he was a pretty great teacher. Finance is a hard class but his videos before taking quizzes were really helpful. Make sure to attend his lectures because he gives polls that count for points. My only issue is that he doesn't let you use your microphone (wants mute) for questions and he's pretty rude when you ask "a stupid question."
Honestly one of the rudest professors I've ever had, he's a jerk in every meaning of the word. Thinks he's the smartest person in the room, yet barely teaches. Course itself is hard, but doable. Final is hard, midterm is decent. Be warned though, in his class, there ARE wrong questions (aka every question). Take someone else.
He's rude and very arrogant, doesn't even teach that well ngl. If there's no one better you should take him but he'll make you want to punch him five minutes into the first class.
Personally didnt hate him but didnt love him either. Just do the asynchronous classes those really helped me learn a lot and make sure you get all the homework and quizzes done. Hes not terrible he tries his best but the final was the worst part of the whole semestermidterm was fine dont worry too much about it.
I thought he was a great professor. His lectures are very informative if you actually pay attention. Asynchronous lectures will help with the homeworks and quizzes. Midterm was easy if you studied; final was harder but doable.
Does not care personally about the students. You can tell he is a man who only cares about the data and the numbers. Elitist and condescending. Have a personal problem or issue beyond your control? Tough luck, it's your fault. If you want to learn how to be a cold hearted businessman, he's your guy! AVOID
Neutral about this professor. Midterm was ok, final was much harder but I guess there was a good curve. His async. lectures were more helpful than his synch ones. Homework is easy if you know what you're doing. Prof. doesn't really care about his students but is a nice person.
The final is cumulative. So you must know every little chapter. He is not caring at all. If you cant spend 2 hours everyday understanding his concepts do not bother with him. Ive never felt this stress from any other class I took. Caused multiple breakdowns from multiple students. Anyone but him please save yourself.
Fin 4910 is a 4000lvl, which means it's going to be complex and requires a lot of dedication to understand everything. It's not 3610 where everything is calculations and easy to understand. Professor is really knowledgeable in finance and utilizes hw and quiz questions on exams. Don't think you are entitled to a good grade and you will be fine.
I learned everything on his slides, homework and quizzes, but didn't read textbook, I found 99% I have never seen on final, homework and quizzes will help you to solve those questions, but you cannot get a good grade without reading textbook. He is nice and very knowledgeable professor and he gives enough materials for you to learn.
Finance 4910 (International Financial markets) is a great course to understand how international finance / economies work. The course is pretty dense in terms of materials and can be a challenge if you take this class along with other classes as it requires a lot of time to read and understand the materials. Professor Dahya makes the course tough.
I thought his 4910 class was a little disorganized and he expected us to learn a lot of the material on our own. Overall, it was a very hard class, but if you read the textbook, thoroughly understand the homeworks and quizzes, and study hard for the exams, you can do well because he curves the grades at the end.
Kind of mixed with the course. The material is extremely hard and final exam was next to impossible. But the professors give you 45% of your grades based on homework, online double try quizzes (takes highest grade), and participation. The other 55% is exams, so if you just show up and guess its possible to pass with a large curve he gives. Doable.
Awful professor. Yes he is very knowledgeable but makes the class so difficult and unapproachable it is difficult to grasp.
This class was a handful from the start & required most of my studying time to be affiliated with it. When I made the decision to take this class as a fun alternative to other finance courses I realize now that I made a mistake. Homework and quiz heavy. Exams are numeric and conceptual and the final is no walk in the park. Be careful with this one
Great prof, lots of reading & material to know & the tests are pretty hard, but he's a very knowledgeable guy & super easy to approach! If you're interested in markets, take his class. Just put in the work and you'll be fine! I thought I'd fail and I ended up getting an A!
Hybrid class, super hard tests but HUGE curve at the end of the class (anything above an 83 for us was an A) Really smart guy with years of experience in finance & is even quoted in the textbook! Take this class if you're interested in foreign exchange and markets in general!
It's a tough class and hes a tough professor. He seems like the type to take no bs and seems very strict at first, but on the last day of class he told us his life story and he seemed pretty cool and was more light on us. As for the material, be ready to study a lot on your own time. He is a great teacher, but doesn't cover everything in class.
In the middle of this semester right now, and I just want to say NEVER AGAIN. This professor is not engaging enough and this course has too much reading going on. NO CHEAT SHEETS ALLOWED FOR EXAM. AND EXAM IS IN PERSON. He is hybrid and records the zoom only for attendance but doesn't post it up after for us to review.
Tough class, but professor is knowledgeable. Expect to put in a lot of self-study time. Tests are challenging, but there's a big curve at the end. unstuck ai was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook.
DO NOT. I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE.
this is a tough class but the professor genuinely wants you to learn the material, so if you want an easy elective take another class. the tests are challenging but there is a big curve at the end of the semester. if you're willing to put in the effort the class is doable in my opinion
I wrote a bad review but I got my grade back and got an A-! The exam questions were literally pulled out from the hws so def study from that. I got a 60 for midterm and 57.5 for final but still passed!! Make sure to complete all your hws!
There was a good amount of connect homework's and quizzes which were fine, they helped when the tests came around. Midterm and final were based off of the connect assignments. exams are in person with no cheat sheet. Is very strict with cheating which i appreciated because i am tired of people ruining a curve.
Save yourself and don't take this class if you're not interested in International Financial Markets. Professor is very knowledgeable. Midterm and final exams were challenging and no cheat/formula sheet. Attendance/participation is mandatory. Huge curve though (from C to B+)
