Awesome Teacher, Really Helpful
Jay is an amazing teacher. His projects are a lot of fun and his knowledge of the software is apparent during class. He may run through things quick, but take notes of the steps and he's almost always available to help you if you get stuck. He's very patient and a great guy.

Good teacher.
Sometimes it can be difficult to learn in class, but in the studio as an intern, Jay will teach you everything there is to learn about video production. Don't be afraid to ask questions because he will help until you understand! Attend class so you can work on group projects without having to meet outside of class--it makes things easier.
Video production was a long class but Jay made it fun and kept us active with hands on projects. He is extremely knowledgeable with all the software and equipment. Also, he was very helpful during class and in the studio. Great professor.
This class can get to be a lot of work, but it's fun work. As long as everyone puts in their effort in the group work and editing process it can be an awesome learning experience. You come out learning a lot about the video production world. And Prof. Jay is always there to help. Take this class!
If you are better at learning by doing hand-on things this is the class for you. Jay tries his hardest at explaining to everyone in class but his teaching skills shine when doing the hand-on products. Very interesting and fun class
If you have any desire to learn how to make a video, you'll love this class. Jay takes you through the whole process from filming to editing to making the DVD. In class you have to either pay attention or take notes b/c there's a lot to cover, but he'll always stop for a raised hand and will take time after class in the studio to help you learn it.
Jay is awesome! take this class definitely if you interested in going into anything media related. it gives you a great background on video production and all the work involved from learning how to set up lights to editing. make sure you pay attention the first time you learn final cut pro - it will definitely pay off with your future projects!
This is a great class to take, especially if you're a communications major! It's fun, and Jay is always up for helping! It's a very hands on class, so you get experience in editing.
Coming into the Video 1 class, I already had an interest in the field. Now, after completing the class, I know production is something that I would consider as a profession. Jay makes the class fun and interesting and will answer any question you have during class. I definitely suggest taking this class whether you are a comm major or not.
Jay's great very helpful with everything you need. I had no knowledge coming into the class and I am pretty good with this now. Great guy very easy to talk to and he'll help you with whatever you need. Fun class and easy class if video production is what you're interested in.
great guy. Very helpful professor. He was always able to help no matter what the question. As long as you try and attend class he will go out of his way to help you. Hand's down on of the best professors I could ask for.
Jay is one of the best teachers by far at Loyola. You can tell that he has a genuine concern for his students and a desire for them to really learn. His class is very hands on and interesting, but it's the perfect balance of challenging as well. He's one of the nicest and most knowledgeable teachers I've ever had. Take his class!
Jay is a great Professor! He's extremely helpful and really wants students to ask for help if they're having trouble with something. You can tell he really loves what he does. The class is very hands on and you learn a lot about video production by the end!
he is very helpful and has has raised my interest in the field . he seems to really be passionate about what hes talking about. He also cracks a couple jokes every once and while which makes the class a fun enviroment.
Professor Dunmore is extremely easy to work with and very helpful. He is a very understanding professor and a lot of fun as well. He makes class time interesting and hands on. Great class to take
He was a good teacher, kept class interesting and entertaining. Sometimes it required a decent amount of work outside class but worth taking.
Jay was really helpful in making sure everyone understood how to edit, etc. Also, he's really understanding if you have issues with your project.
If you do your work and listen to the lectures, and ask questions when you don't understand, you'll be fine. He is very understanding about troubles and is more than willing to work with you.
Overall a chill class fairly easy- the topic is interesting and he is fairly young so easy to relate to his student! would definitely recommend his class.
great class, great teacher.
I loved this class. Jay is a great professor and is very clear and enthusiastic. Definitely Take this class
Great professor, very fun class.
Professor Dunmore is a great teacher and loves what he does. It gives students a chance to really learn how to create and edit video
Good class, really interesting. Jay is awesome!
highly interested in students doing their best. Jay is very helpful and will meet with anyone whenever they need. animation was hard to get a hang of but he really helped.
Knows his stuff but needs a bit more structure in his class and he is easily distracted
Best teacher at Loyola. I made it to every single class because Mr. Dunmore makes the learning environment fun and easy!
HE ROCKS!!!!! BEST TEACHER AT LOYOLA!
Legit class real relaxed environment. You will enjoy taking whether you are good at it or not.
Appreciate him as a Teacher!
Great class. One of the best teachers to have if you are a communications major!!!
Jay is a great dude, I knew him before the class and he is super helpful with any troubles. Overall awesome class.
Class is a bit book tutorial heavy. Wish we had more time to work on projects in the syllabus. Video tutorials for the book exercises were helpful but audio would have been better. Class is a good foundation to animation if you're interested.
Jay is a Don. If you are a communications major sign up and be amazed! Not only is he a phenomenal teacher, he also plays jazz saxophone! Love to learn? Sign up. Love things that are fun? Sign up. Like things that aren't boring? Sign up. Hate bad teachers? Sign up. Believe in magic? Sign up.
AWESOME TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jay is a great professor! He is easy to relate to and loves what he teaches! I definitely recommend taking him no matter what major you are!
very good. and helpful. all around nice guy with great knowledge of the material.
He is a great open-minded professor. He takes the students' ideas on how to run the class to make our learning experience better. He also makes sure that we get all concepts before moving forward. Def recommend to take one of his classes
Jay is an awesome professor. He always takes the time to help you with your designs whether your struggling with learned material or need to know a bit more to do what you want to do. Definitely don't use the text book much in either of his classes -- so maybe you and a friend can go in on one together. Definitely recommend though!
I really enjoyed this class, it was a good start to my Freshman year and he made it very fun. I definitely recommend taking this professor as it was useful and enjoyable.
Jay Dunmore is a great teacher, chill dude, and a pleasure to have in class. He really is in the best interest of the student, and makes class enjoyable. I would highly recommend him. I
If you cant figure something out he will make sure you do no matter how long it takes, the music during class made class more tolerable, one of the best classes i have taken
From the first day of class Jay set the tone. It was easy to tell right away that i would enjoy this class and could ask for help at anytime and get a useful response.
Jay is by FAR the best teacher I have ever had at Loyola. The classes are fun and I learned a lot more than I thought I could. I'm clickin around Photoshop like a champ! Thanks Jay for everything, TAKE THIS CLASS
Graphics class with Jay, really nice guy- very understanding. Not run like a typical class, very laid back and interactive. Really enjoyed the class
Jay is actually the coolest teacher Ive had in college. Go to class and do what he says.. and you will get an A. IM not smart
Jay is a really cool guy. He makes class interesting and fun whilst making sure that you learn what is necessary.
Great class, teacher made it fun
Great class, great professor, great experience. Jay teaches you a lot about graphics and is a great teacher. take this class.
I took Jay for Graphics I and loved it. We used the text book as a guideline but most of the class is hands on and really interesting. Projects will take you some time if you put the work in but its enjoyable and he is hilarious! No tests, one quiz, and a different project each week. Really easy if you put the effort in!
Jays the man! Take this class! He makes it fun and interesting and does a great job of helping the students with any questions they have
Fantastic Way to learn Final Cut Pro. It is a fun class, yet, I feel like I learned a lot. We learned how to do some Camera work. Worth while. In short he is a righteous dude
Jay is extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of video, and translates that into a very comprehensive class. The projects are not extremely hard, but allow you to learn the material necessary for the course.
Great class! really interesting. i definitely recommend this class!
Jay is helpful and makes sure everyone is up to the appropriate level. Class is fun and entertaining. Its clear that he is passionate about video and digital media and it comes out through his teaching. Take him if you can
Jay is the kind of teacher that invests in his students. If you do the work and talk to him one-on-one every once in a while, he is a tremendous help. He loves the Matrix and is pretty fluent in rap knowledge, as well as general wisdom about life. Take advantage of his words and you'll be happy you did. You might even find a mentor.
Jay is a great teacher, really knows his stuff. His class is really interactive. I learned a lot of skills from him this semester while having a great time. One of the classes I looked forward to go to each week
Jay is the man. He really wants his students to learn about video, graphics, editing, etc. Take this class if you want to learn more about editing and video.
I took video 1 with Jay, the class was a lot of fun and Jay did a good job teaching it. If you just do the work and attend class it's easy to get a B or higher. If you're interested in video I'd highly recommend you take this class with Jay
this class is really fun and interesting. If you do your work and go to class you won't get anything under a B. The projects are all really fun. We get to make music videos and commercials. If you have the opportunity to take his class do it!
I had heard from other students that Professor Dunmore was a great teacher, so I decided to take his Video 1 class. By far the best professor I have had at Loyola yet. You won't regret taking his class. He truly cares and has a unique teaching style that makes the material very enjoyable.
Video I was a really fun class. I would definitely recommend taking this class with Jay.
Great professor!
Great professor. Knew exactly what he was talking about and was extremely helpful on all the projects
He is great the class is awesome and he is brilliant
Jay's a great teacher and every class is a lot of fun. You learn a lot of valuable information about video production. One of the more fun teachers I've had where I can truly say I learn a lot.
Video 1 is a great class in which you learn a lot of important information with regards to video. Jay also makes the class a lot of fun and makes it very easy to show enthusiasm towards to course
Jay is the man. Great teacher and very helpful. Makes the projects in class fun and interactive. I learned a lot and definitely had a great time learning in his class
He was a pretty chill professor and really helped us and understood that we were learning new skills and would not grade us too tough.
Jay is very helpful and makes the class fun with the group projects! Whoever is interested in taking video should definitely take his class!
This was a really fun class, he doesn't really stick to the syllabus as much, but you manage to cover a lot of different video techniques.
Extremely knowledgeable of the editing software, and technology in general.
Interesting guy
We didn't cover much ground but Jay cares a lot about his students ad the class was relatively easy.
Jay is awesome! Really knows his stuff about video editing and production. Definitely take this class if you're interested in digital media.
You could tell he knew what he was talking about, very knowledgable about the class. He wanted the students to be just as enthusiastic. Not too much homework, a couple big projects that he explains fairly well, and you work on them with your group. Overall I would definitely recommend this class!
Jay knows what he is talking about. He makes the class interesting and does not just throw you in the studio. He loves his job and works hard with each student for a positive outcome. TAKE HIM!!!
Pretty easy class, with three big projects. He is very enthusiastic and makes it fun.
Great Professor, very cool guy who is extremely willing to help students and knows his stuff well. ** Plays music during class, so dope.**
He was an excellent teacher. Very hands on and made the class work interesting. One "quiz," one group project, one final individual project. He makes the few hours fly by!
Awesome teacher, you can tell from day one that he actually knows his stuff. If you are not familiar with video, like i was, he is more than willing to come show you how. As a business major i came into this class knowing nothing and walked away with a solid grasp of video editing. Overall, one of the better professors i have had at Loyola
Great class. Unique to any other class I've taken at Loyola. Jay is super helpful and I learned a lot.
jay is very helpful and engaging. He is very knowledgable and eager to share his knowledge. He is a very nice guy. I highly recommend taking any course that he teaches!!
I thought that this class was very useful in the end. In the beginning I felt that I wasn't really learning much but I surprised myself with the final projects with how much we actually learned.
Jay is a awesome professor. He is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. He wants to see his students do well and will adjust assignments to make sure students do well. I highly recommend taking his class.
Jay is a great teacher he makes the class fun and has great projects. He also very helpful and chill. You learn and a lot in class! I highly suggest it for either a elective or your major.
Jay is the man! He is very savvy of the video industry and enjoys teaching. There are so many fun projects we get to do in this class. If you're looking an elective to take or want to fulfill a communication class, take his class. You won't regret it!
Jay's number one concern is that you learn and he will do everything to help you do that and reach any goal.s
Great guy!! Even better teacher!!
Jay is a great guy. He really cares about all his students. His teaching style makes it impossible to do badly or have any issue learning the material. Take him if you have the chance!
Jay's a great dude who is more than willing to give you an A if you share his enthusiasm for Video and do the work he asks of you. This shouldn't be hard, as the work he gives you is actually enjoyable and great to add to a portfolio if you're into that kind of thing. Definitely take him at some point if you are a com major.
Jay is cool. If you put in the effort, you will get an A. A bit eccentric but not in a bad way. Lots of projects: a lot of group stuff. Be prepared to be on camera for assignments-sometimes the class will see it, sometimes just him. Ask him questions if you have them. Very relaxed atmosphere. You will have fun and you will learn stuff.
My favorite class I have taken here at Loyola so far and I am a senior! Take him!
This class was an absolutely pleasure to take, Jay is the best! Take to improve video skills and have a great time doing it!
not too shabby
the class was very laid back, but informational. Jay is very talented and experienced with this field which allows for better one on one/hands on learning.
Jay has a great personality as a professor and has a passion for what he does. It was an interesting class that only had a few projects and it is hands on learning. You shoot, edit, direct many different videos.
The class is a good balance of hands on work with interactive and engaging lectures. Learned how to use Adobe Premier, and Jay's knowledge of video editing is top notch. It is cool to see a video that you created yourself
Fun class to take as an elective
Gives you help whenever you ask for it, doesn't give any tests except for an online midterm quiz and online final. Fun class, get's you outside and filming and Jay keeps you entertained and is super fun to work with. He is super easy going and always ready for anything, he wants you to do well.
Professor Dunmore is very helpful and wants you to succeed. There is barely any homework except for the projects which are a lot of fun. Take this class!!
Jay Dunmore is the bomb! His video 1 class is really interesting and fun. Not a serious or hard class at all but some projects are time consuming. Class is cancelled a bit which is good and bad but I would take one of Jay's classes again, he is so nice and cool!
Great professor and super friendly. Jay clearly loves film and knows what he's doing. Despite the projects being somewhat time consuming you'll enjoy doing them and will learn a lot on the way. Overall, if you take the class you will not regret it!
Professor Dunmore makes video production easy and interesting to learn about. I enjoyed the sense of freedom and autonomy that he gave the class. Because he's young, I felt that he was able to relate to what it's like to be a student; he avoids traditional methods. He's not an authoritative teacher, instead, he speaks to you on a one-on-one level.
This class was okay. When there was class the lessons on video were pretty good. Spend a lot of time watching YouTube. Attendance was mandatory, but class was cancelled sometimes to allow for project time or other things. Sometimes confusing with what was actually due and when.
I would definitely recommend taking this class, even if just for easy elective. It's fun if you're into record and take pictures!
Jay is an awesome teacher! He truly cares about his students excelling in any field which they choose to pursue, and he is interested in your reasons for taking Video I. He explains all aspects of class in much depth, and you are always learning new things to apply to future assignments. His extensive knowledge on vid. prod. makes class enjoyable.
Best professor here at Loyola.
Professor Dunmore is an incredible teacher. He truly cares about his students and wants everyone to succeed. It's a great class whether you're taking it for credit or as an elective. Highly recommend this class to communication students who want to develop their skills and go into the media industry.
This is my second class with Jay and he's probably my favorite professor at Loyola. Sometimes classes are disorganized, but for the field that I want to go into (film and video production) it makes it feel like a realistic work environment where you have to roll with the punches and the unexpected changes. The assignments are challenging but fun.
This class was an absolutely pleasure to take, Jay is the best
Jay cares about your future and goes out of his way to get to know you and help anyway he can to ensure you are successful both in his class and post-graduation. He is a busy guy and tough to track down at times, but is more than helpful when you do. You take from his classes exactly what you put in;it is extremely difficult to get a bad grade
Jay literally throws you right into video from the start. He really wants to see you do well and will do what he can to keep you interested and learning.
Professor Dunmore is well prepared and knowledgeable. He truly wants his his students to succeed. Video 1 & Video Animation are his classes he gives you the tools and also recommend other resources to complete projects that are established in the course. It's his passion to make sure you are ready upon graduation for the media industry.
This class gives you an opportunity to get independent experience with long form filmmaking. Jay gives you a lot of time to work on things on your own which can be frustrating at times, but if you make an effort to reach out to him, he is more than happy to help.
Class is pretty easy, but you have to teach yourself a lot outside of class. I wish he explained more in class, but he leaves a lot of it up to you. Definitely felt like I could have learned more than I did, but it was an easy A.
Good professor
Very laid back and encouraging
Took Jay for Video 2 and Studio Television Production. Had such a great time in both classes. A lot of group projects with filming but its all really fun. Midterm and final are either take homes or final projects. You need the book for midterm but the questions are straight out of the book. Love this class and prof
Professor Jay is truly passionate about what he does. I took him for Video 1 and knew that I had to take him for Video 2. He is great and very knowledgeable about video production. If you are in between him and another professor, look no further, take Professor Jay!
Prof. Jay is a great guy. The class isn't super structured but you learn a lot and he's super passionate. Take Jay for all Video classes!!
Professor Jay cares about his students and is a very inspirational teacher. He grades based off a big projects. If you do the work and give an effort to create good pieces, you will get a good grade. This is a very hands-on class, you will learn a lot.
Great professor Take him
Jay is a great professor. He really cares about his students and aims the class at what everyone is most interested in. I took both video classes with Jay and would definitely recommend him!
Jay is a teacher that really cares about his students and that is passionate about his work. He takes the time to answers all the students' questions and make sure they truly understand the material they are learning. Also, he is one of the teachers that teaches in a way that a student can apply the knowledge and skills to the really world.
Great class, not lecture based but teaches/shares knowledge with every word that comes out of his mouth. Hands on examples during class, helps us with all assignments and makes sure we know how to work with all the equipment front and behind camera.
Great professor! I had him for video 1 and video 2 which were both great. I have enjoyed the class structure and how available the professor is to help. Professor Jay goes out of his way to help each student find their talent and grow.
Pro. Dunmore was a very cool teacher. I would love to take him again. He would give a's on only the big projects. Overall, he made me a good student a video.
Becomes more of a mentor than a professor. Passionate about what he does and wants to help you find your passion while learning.
He is a great teacher, very flexible and easy to talk to relating to things outside of class that you need help with. Great guy i recommend.
HE is the absolute man. Knows so much about videography and just an all around great guy. Highly recommend.
One of the best at Loyola
Huge beauty! You learn a ton about the video making process, he is an understanding insightfull professor that is all about hands on learning.
He taught as a substitute teacher when my original one was out for a while... Learned more with him teaching than I had all semester. Really cares about his students and wants to help them. Very nice. Plays music which is cool.
Played music in the back of his lectures and knew what he was talking about like the back of his hand. Great teacher. Explained how to do things well.
Great teacher - Understands students and what they really want to know - Skips through all the annoying stuff and teaches what is important and teaches it well.
Filled in for another professor; he went so in depth with the adobe programs and the class material. I thought I didn't like this class but I realized that he was giving me all of the tutorials and ins and outs that I was missing. Great professor and I would definitely take one of his classes.
Had for a substitute. Knew the content well and instruction was easy to follow. Good music taste as well.
Has a very cool learning environment; Plays music in the background and makes everyone feel relaxed. He also made learning the material seem a lot more interesting. He was only my guest professor but he was better than my actual teacher.
Plays instrumental pop music during class which is awesome it helps with focusing. If you have a question he will answer it well and will show you again if you need something to be shown again. Definitely take his class!!
I had Dunmore as a sub for my normal Digital Tools prof. He was really clear and patient with his students, he taught at a moderate to fast pace but checked in with students to make sure we were all following along. Overall chill guy, would take a class of his in the future.
He subbed for my CM202 professor for a week and I'm pretty sure I learned more in the two classes he taught than I did in any class before (no offense to our actual prof). Super clear in his explanations and really patient. All around awesome teacher and I definitely want to take an actual class with him one day.
I really enjoyed having him for the few days he filled in for my professor. He plays music during class and I love that. He is extremely helpful and makes sure that everyone is on the same page before jumping ahead. I hope to have him again in the future!
A really caring and educated guy. He genuinely wants his students to succeed and he is willing to do anything to get them there. His passion is inspiring. I was never really into computer classes but after Prof. Dunmore, I can easily say he has encouraged me to dive deeper into the world of technology. Amazing guy, you're lucky to get him!
Always a blast with Jay. He teaches Adobe very well and even plays hiphop instrumentals during class. He is very patient and is always willing to help you. If you are stuck on something, he will gladly help you. Highly suggest you take him, especially if you are a communications major.
Very easy to follow, great at teaching and helpful. Makes a very relaxing and chill environment. Would highly recommend.
Hands-on learning. Answers questions thoroughly. Doesn't move too fast or too slow when following along learning new programs.
Jay is really great for teaching lots of hands-on work like Adobe programs and technical stuff. He also really cares about his students beyond the classroom and encourages them to pursue more opportunities. He gives amazing motivational speeches sometimes during class.
Always been a huge fan of Jay. He's a great professor and really wants you to succeed. I was able to create my own podcasts and music during this class. There is some reading and a final assessment at the end. You really get to see sound and how it works in this class. Highly recommend for 300 CM classes.
I love Jay! He's a great professor. He really cares about how you're doing and if you understand the material. We had a really interactive class with lots of projects, but you definitely learned a lot. He's one of my favorite professors at Loyola, highly recommend taking him for any class!
Jay is a very chill professor and is definitely there to help you along. He doesn't give "tests" as much as projects, which is graded more on effort than quality. Show up to class, submit your assignments on time, and you should be guaranteed an A.
Professor was really into making sure that we got what we wanted out of the class. Meaning that while he had an agenda of things he wanted us to learn. He also left room for suggestions so we would leave the class learning what may have been our purpose for taking the course.
Professor Dunmore is a great caring person. The class was not taught in a manner that I felt I was learning new content every day however, the Professor tried to encourage all students to make the most of every opportunity. The class was taken in an infancy stage which could explain the problems but the professor was always geninue and caring!
This is the third class I have taken with Professor Dunmore, I have enjoyed all of them and he is by far my favorite professor at Loyola. His classes are the best at giving real-world experience and it is not too challenging to manage the workload in any of his classes.
Great class, even though it was a first-time class, Professor Dunmore did everything expected and was prepared for each class. Made class enjoyable and the material wasn't very difficult, especially with help. You should take this
Here's the thing: I love Jay. Good guy with a great heart, really seems like he cares about his students. I just didn't like his teaching style at all. He promised a lot of things would happen over the course of the semester that just didn't. Felt pretty disorganized when we got there, sometimes took 30 mins to start class. Didn't learn a whole lot
Professor Dunmore is the GOAT and one of Loyola's best teachers. He is so nice to his students and cares about them. He gets to know you on a personal level, and he is so kind. He is always looking out for his student's future. He also knows you're a student and doesn't burden you with tests or exams. I had him for video backpack production.
Instructor often times is so familiar with the program he is unclear, or appears not to have ever used the program. He cancels class more than he actually holds class, always at the last minute, to the point it might as well be asynchronous. There are 3 weeks left and I have not received a single grade despite numerous projects and assignments.
I never had Jay as a professor but he helped me during video one and two. We automatically clicked. He was the first professor at Loyola that wanted to help me and see me thrive. Genuinely cares about your well being. If it wasn't for Jay I would probably suck at video.
He is built off of false promises. Ive talked to him so many times about working in GreyComm and I never once ended up doing anything. He is a nice guy, but untrustworthy. Dont recommend taking his classes because he is always late. I never received grades or any instruction in general.
