Cool prof. fun to sit in his class. Sometimes he can get moody! Material is excellent, really tries to convey the meaning and not the boring mathematical symbol pushing... You might get really confused with some material but he wont kill you with it...

One of the Best math professors in the college. He does an excellent job of combining computers and math to give you more than one way to look at the overall picture.

Makes a boring class more interesting with his anecdotes. Is a great guy, very approachable and friendly. Works with students on what should be on exams, a big plus. Fair grader.

He's the greatest math professor I have ever met. Has the ability to send across the concept of math. Explains EVERYTHING,wont leave a student behind. Quizzes & Tests are fair. He's willing to give A's if you earn them through some effort. TAKE HIM.

He's a cool guy and makes student understand the concept (he's also a good entertainer). In the beginning he might seem hard, but after awhile, you'll get the lessons learned. Its important to do the HW, because most will show up in his test. He gives an excellent review b4 exam. Simple as that.

Ask him any question from a hw you dont understand, he will show you how to work it like its a elementary stuff. Once you grasp the concept, you will learn to love math the most. BUT DONT SLACK OFF!! Do the HW everday when you have time. He will hate you if you dont put effort! work on problems, and its a garenteed A in the department final!

Being in his class is like having Jerry Sienfield teaching you. By far the best math teacher I ever had... makes hard concepts understandable and fun. He expects a lot from you tho... do not lack off.

I do not like math but I would take a class for Jorgenson again in a heart beat. He makes you work hard but he makes you learn too and he makes it interesting!!! He entertains, instructs and motivates all at the same time. My favorite class so far.

Prof. Jorgenson's devotion to teaching and mathematics is admirable. He is by far the most effective and helpful instructor I have ever had. His lectures are challenging, and he expects students to work hard. It was such expectation and challenge which prepared me for graduate work at an ivy league. I will always appreciate his efforts.

He genuinely likes us CCNY students but hates the way things are run at CCNY - which all CCNY students do too - it's so nice to have a professor that understands why students hate this school SO f'n much. I learned so much from him. Freakin' genius; could make a lot more money elsewhere but stays here. He's a gem.

This guy really make a lot of jokes in the class, gives U short-cuts, a genius. B CAREFUL, he is very strict in his class n takes the course seriously. MY ADVISE to U is 2 ask him questions that R related 2 calculus and not(algebra). He will gladly answer all types of questions, but time flies; therefore might not cover most of the curriculum.

This professor is one of the best you could ever meet. he is very strict but the class is easy to understand.

He's great. He will explain everything and he goes over what you learned the day before. DO NOT be late and attendence is mandatory. He's super sarcastic and weary about city college. I hate math and he helped me understand the theory and concept more so the actual math. Definitely take him regardless if your good or bad in math.Go to office hours

He gave out his School of Ed/gifted HS student program materials for a math GRAD class. The fact that he did that as if nothing was wrong was quite shocking. Later, he did Dirichlet's proof. It was a good attempt but I think the handwaving was so rampant it was a mathematical mayhem. He also liked to filibuster students who have their hand raised.

This professor changed my life. It was because of him that I was inspired to enter the field of data science. He guided us and taught us all the fundamentals of statistics while learning how to use SPSS. He did not give exams but assigned us projects. We never got the projects back but that was irrelevant. He is what every professor should be.

Knows the material inside and out. Unwilling to bend to class pressure to give away grades. Has no tolerance for childish behavior

This was a difficult class. Jay is a fair grader and strives to make the class interesting and accessible to his students. If you are not interested in diving into difficult math topics he is not the teacher for you. If you are willing to put in the work, and effort and realy want to learn the topic I highly recommend courses he teaches.

Awesome professor. I did not think that I would've done as well as I did in this statistics class. The system we used was Hawkes and it is very helpful. Take his class master the assignments and it should be an easy A. Best math professor at CCNY.

We used the Hawkes learning system and it was excellent! You can pace yourself through this program and Jay clarifies any questions in lecture. Don't be lazy and stay on top of the hw assignments, it's a 4 credit course so expect to dedicate a lot of time to this course. He reviews old finals at the end, which are basically the same every year.

Took summer stat, we used Hawkes program. He is very knowledgeable and was able to accommodate timing for tests. Expect a lot of homework, not an easy class - takes a lot of time for self study. Gives many practicing tests which are essentially same on actual texts. But some questions are tricky so it's easy to miss points. Overall did ok, got B.

I've never encountered a professor in the sciences who is as thorough yet caring as Jay. He lights up the room when he lectures, and that says a lot coming from someone who falls asleep rather easily. It's not an easy course, but he makes the learning process seamless via the coordination he exercises with the math software you buy. Worth taking.

Great guy, hilarious! He is so easy on giving partial credit for quizzes and exams, especially in the summer course. He doesnt really teach that clearly in class, but the program he uses will ensure you get an A if you work for it. Lots of homework, if you are not prepared to do it, don't take the class. Other than that, he is an easy A.

FunnySarcastic prof that sides with the students rather than the admin. He cares, wants students to do well, and get a good grade. He writes out problems rather than use pwrpoint. Uses a $75 online hwtest program vs $150 textbook + webassign. You learn at your own pace thru repetition and LOTS of hw, which has helped me more than any math class.

This professor was pretty good. He was super helpful for students that needed help and was clear on what he wanted. He uses a hawks learning system that gives students good practice for math problems. I recomened taking time out of each day to complete the assignments given. He also studies for the final, which helped me recieve an A .

Amazing Professor. He is willing to help you if you work hard. Lectures are a breeze!

He teaches with the hwakslearning program. The app is really helpful however you need to go on the program to take quizzes for each chapter when it's given. There are two major exam, the midterm and final. If you score 95+ on final automatic A+ for the class even if you didn't do his final. No textbooks but awful lot of math questions to practice.

I took Winter Statistic with him and thought the Hawks System was great. You have to keep up with the Hw. He puts up practice quiz and exam. You should do them because is exactly what's on the test. You put the Work in you will get an A+! Plus the hawk System is only 60 dollars.

Take him and you won't regret.

He's one of the best professors I had so far in CCNY! I took him for the Summer and it wasn't that bad! He posts practice quizzes and exams and make sure you study them because it's the same format. Exams, Quizzes, and Homeworks were all in the Hawkes System! Most importantly, have good notes because exams are open book! I would recommend him!

Great guy who knows his stuff from probability. He is a master at his own game. The proofs were important for his exams. Master the proofs, then you are all set! Probability Theory is a very difficult course and you have to work hard for it!

He is a very interesting person. He gave 3 exams and the final. He only graded and handed back the first exam though. I don't think he graded anything else after that. He gives study sheets and the questions are the same on the exam. And everything on the study sheet comes directly from the lectures.

Jorgenson uses the Hawkes Learning System for this class which was an amazing tool in learning statistics. He cares about the well being of the students and gives makes sure to review with the class when needed. With Jorgenson, this class is fun because of how simple he makes it.

Jay is an excellent professor. He is straightforward and uses a great teaching method (Hawkes system, about $70?). He is definitely on the student's side; An ally when it comes to grading and concerns. Also, the last week of class before finals he gives 1 re-take on a past quiz/test to overwrite your lowest score. TAKE HIM IF MATH IS YOUR WEAKNESS.

Good guy. You won't have a textbook, and you will use Hawkes Learning for absolutely everything. Only negative I have is the lack of partial credit during exams. Otherwise, you'll learn and likely pass... Even if you're not a math-person like myself.

Great professor all you need to do is take this class seriously, learn from the Hawkes system that he uses and you guaranteed an A.

Great class using Hawkes. I was hoping to pass then I got an A because I did the work.

Professor Jorgenson uses a program called Hawkes Learning System. Your exams will be online using this system, and he posts practice exams which look exactly like the exam. Also, the homework will be through this system. Try to receive full credit for all hw. The homework is 1/3 of your grade, the exams are 1/3, and the final is 1/3.

He gave us the opportunity to learn. Very firm when it came to attendance. Best class ever.

Phenomenal professor, teaches well, is super down to earth. We used Hawkes software for the class which allowed for us to study at our own pace after doing homeworks. Single handedly one of the easiest classes I've ever taken because of how he structured the class, not because the material was easy. God bless this man.

This is a wonderful class. The professor wants you to do as well as possible. You don't need a textbook because you use a wonderful online program called Hawkes, which is a wonderful teaching tool. The tests are the practice tests with different numbers. You get full points for HW just by completing it properly on time. Easy A.

Hes an amazing professor. He Uses hawkes and it teaches a lot. he helps with the departmental final by putting an exact copy of it as practice in hawkeslearning so that was a plus. i ended up getting a 96. would take him again. hes very clear.

Jay is possibly the best math teacher Ive ever taken. He uses the program Hawkes and though its a little pricey but worth it. Overall hes a chill guy, he has clear grading criteria and will crack a corny joke or two but all in good fun. You wont feel too stressed about taking a math class for like the first time ever.

A very hard class. His grading was generous and he set us up for success in our next class. Time will show how great this class was.

He made calculus so easy that it really set the pace for the rest of my math classes, he is understanding and inspirational but he doesn't like to teach so he instead uses an online program called Hawkes and it's a ton of work but if you can keep up then its incredibly rewarding, he clearly wants us to not only learn but pass with a good grade.

He uses Hawkes online this website teaches you everything you need ALL exams and quizzes are on Hawkes. Very knowledgeable professor and cares about the students. You struggle in math? 2ez. Made pre-calculus much easier than the school department intended to. He made it easier with Hawkes Learning, but the system is a bit flawed because of how it want the answers specifically. Jay is the pinnacle of the modern day professor. He understands that college is meant for both learning and PASSING! He actually wants you to pass and move onto what you love to do. He often gave us class time to do our work. Definitely take him - preferably during summer or winter. Awesome guy too.

Jay is probably one of the best math professors I've had. If you are a type of an individual who enjoys learning math, he won't hesitate to answer any of your questions related to math even though the material might not be related to your class. However, if you dislike math and want an easy passing grade, pick someone else.

There was a lot of homework assigned but it was worth doing. Jay was very easy to talk to and accommodating especially during this covid-19 time.

Currently taking is online class. He is honestly the best Math Professor Ive ever taken!. He likes to be called jay instead of Professor and he likes to interact with his students. If you ask him to repeat a topic his talking about that you didnt understand he sure will repeat it! He uses hawkes learning for hw and tests (must buy it for class).

A sophomore at city college and I can automatically say this is the best professor ever. Never met someone who truly cares about all his students. Super understanding and super sweet. he is a very caring prof. he considers extensions on due dates and is very considerate especially during this pandemic when we are all stressed with deadlines and loads of work. he listens to our needs and respects it. his grading policy is also very simple and clear.

Hands down the BEST professor I have ever had. So down to earth and genuinely cares for his students. Rearranges homework's to cater to our needs. Ends every class with "the most important thing is that you are a safe and healthy" which is so pure and makes you feel appreciated. Would take him 100x if I could, amazing human.

He's a solid choice for a professor. Just do your homework on time, he uses Hawkes which you will find to be annoying in later sections where the work tends to be more difficult. Make sure you keep track of every problem you do, the exams are based solely on the homework done. In class, he goes over the problems we do on Hawkes, it's not a lecture.

I honestly highly recommend him. He is nice and friendly. his tests and finals exams is fair enough for everyone. 3 tests and all are counted toward your final grade. One final and a lot of homework. You only use Hawkes for this class and as long as you are doing it on time and listening to him it is easy to pass with the grade you aiming for.

Uses a program called Hawkes to assign h.w and give exams. DO AS MANY SECTIONS AHEAD OF TIME!! the later sections requires more time to understand. There is no lecture he uses the time to go through practice problems on Hawkes. Sometimes the reading doesnt help with the h.w so just look up videos. Will give extensions if you ask.

He is very understandable and cares about his students. You will pass the class as long as you are studying for the exams and doing all the certifications.

Professor jorgensen cares. He understood that the year 2020 was difficult . I ended up studying on my own most of the time (plus tutoring). Everything you need to know will be on hawkes ( which you need to pay for). He is lenient about due dates also. Be sure to do the difficult practices and finish everything on hawkes if you want to pass his clas

He clearly tells you that he is giving you a 12 week course in 3 weeks and that he is not going to dilute it or change it. YOUR THE ONE WHO SIGNED UP FOR HIS CLASS, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT AN EASY A. STOP BEING LAZY. I finished his class in 2 1/2 weeks, just sit down and do the work. If you have a full time job or outside problems don't take the class

It was alot work for 3 weeks. He said that it was a 15 week class in 3 weeks and we had to do the work with on our own with Hawkes and recordings. He was right. Stop complaining if you were expecting something different. Glad it is over.

Took this class in the summer session, 4 credits mean heavier workload. You should be prepared to complete all coursework ASAP, there are a lot of assignments/certifications required no way around it you have to do it. The class was a good experience, I know what I slacked on but it's on me. I would've enjoyed class more over a regular 12-week

Jay was an amazing professor, he would be a bit tough with grading but his overall grading scale was much lower. an 80 is an A. 65 is a B 55 is a C. he is very knowledgeable and caring take him if available.

He is a pretty good professor. He is pretty fast paced so you have to be super attentive. His handwriting is pretty messy but you'll get used to it. Jay prepares you pretty good for the dep final, his exam 1 and 2 is harder than the dep final. He also assigns a lot of HW (like 3-4 chapters everyday).

Honestly, Jay is hands down one of my favorite math professors here at CCNY. He makes math look so easy, even though math is hard enough, and he always has some interesting stories to tell the class. Very fair professor, would definitely take again

Jay is by far one of my favorite professors at CCNY! He will speak facts and truth right in front of your face, no BS! He clearly goes over the material very well and is very lenient when it comes to exams. He is also very flexible when it comes to exam review sessions. One of the best math professors, only problem is he sucks at replying to emails

I took Jay during the June 2024 Summer Semester in a 4 week online session. I must say that Jay really did his best to make his class the easiest as he can. This class was tough for me! It was a 3-4 month class that was condensed into 1 month. It was a lot of work with lots of hw, quizzes, and exams that had to be due in a short period of time.

He gives you a chance and really tries to help you. The only thing I don't like about him is that I worked really hard to get an A+ my grade was 100 and he gave me an A I was really pissed about that because I could've gotten an A but worked twice as hard to get the +. It wouldn't have cost him anything to give me the + I deserved.

Professor Jorgenson is extremely caring about how youre doing in the class despite having so many students, he makes sure you know it won't be easy but he motivates you to have the WANT to learn. He does surveys for opinions, he doesn't assign much hw. the textbook in ccny is only $5. He is very funny and sweet. Would recommend his course for sure!

Professor's class is intense, with a heavy workload and many assignments. But if you stay on top of it, it's very manageable. Definitely use unstuck study and the textbook to stay ahead.

Homework is actually a decent amount since it's a math class. He's extremely lenient and friendly and is good at explaining, too. The only thing is that he's a HUGE yapper. He yaps a lot between lectures, and it kinda makes me lose the attention when he teaches. But besides that, I think he's a great professor.

He is a very good teacher and very caring about how you do in class. He is very skilled in what he teaches even though he goes quite fast. His office hours are also good and gives accurate answers. He is honest about what you should do to pass math190 especially for how difficult it can be. Overall I would take again and recommend to others.

Jay is an amazing Professor, he truly cares about his students and their success even after they've completed their time with him. He is very accessible outside of class and will make arrangements to be able to speak with you. Theres a quiz after each lecture and the homework can get heavy. math isn't easy so put in the work! But you can do it !!
