RUN AWAY. DO NOT TAKE. talks so soft you cant hear him from the front row. tests are HARD and almost unfair. has a test review but its unhelpful. this is the worst class ever, and hes so boring and makes it worse. very unhelpful and very rude. i didnt enjoy him at all. im sorry, but ecu fails with this guy.
all i can say...is that if you want to work your butt off for a D, then take him. if not, take someone else. he is the WORST teacher ive ever had and ive attended 2 universities. he needs to get his head up his butt. really, this guy is the worst.
I'm sitting in his class right now, and feel like I'm in hell. First of all he doesn't know what he's talking about. When you ask a question, he goes around the answer and never answers it. He whispers! And his tests are unfair and makes no sense. He has review sessions, but don't waste your time going. They're pointless! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!
The worst teacher on the planet! He is rude & calls you out if your doing something he doesn't approve of. He is a horrible lecture/note taker. The tests are extremely hard but the final is mostly all the tests combined!
This guy is a horrible teacher. He doesnt know how to lecture. He told us last class we could no longer bring our laptops to class anymore to take notes. Who does that? Its a college lecture course! He seems sooo insecure when he talks in class. DO NOT TAKE HIM. He is a horrible teacher and is monotonous...his class seems like its 5 hours long! ahh
BAD PROFESSOR. Test are EXTREMELY hard and half of the stuff on the tests wasn't even covered in the lectures. Refuses to answer questions with an actual answer; he goes all around the question, but NO definitive answer. Test review is pointless because he doesn't answer questions in regards to the test. Basically, don't take this professor.
Dr. Newhard is confusing. He sounds like he has no idea what he is talking about and he responds to a questions and actually manages without answering the question. His grading is absurd and he does not make it clear what he wants from the students. Also he will yell at you and kick you out of the class if he sees a cell phone anywhere close to you
honestly!!! If you take notes and listen you'll do fine!! test are a lil difficult but its college get use to it! The only negative to the class is he will keep you everyday the full amount of time and even 5 min after and also he will beat around the bush if you ask him to answer one of your questions!
Unfortunately this guy has zero personality. However, his tests were straight from the lecture notes and he wrote everything on the board for you to copy. He did provide study guides for the tests. JUST GO TO CLASS. I easily made an A, but I studied and always went to class.
idk what everyone is talking about. It's true, he really has no personality. However, you have to be a complete idiot to fail as long as you go to class. Everything on the board is in the test in pretty much the exact order. As a freshman here at ECU, this was my easiest class.
I don't recommend this professor. I like Philosophy and I don't think he inspires interest in the subject. The class is easy, but you have to go to class or get the notes from someone. Tests are based on the notes, not the book at all. He was not very respectful to the students in my class and pushed his opinions on us.
This guy sucks. He make you feel like there is no real right or wrong answer. When questioned in class he never gives a direct or clear response. His test are very tricky almost unfair. How the hell ECU keeps him around confuses me. My advisor got me on this one. RUN LIKE HELL!!!!
awful teacher. DO NOT take him. He makes you feel stupid when you ask a question, or even voice your opinion. He never gives you an answer all he responds with is "OK". Horrible teacher, dont know how anyone stands his class.
Absolutely the most boring teacher I have ever had in my life. The tests are rediculously hard and he makes every answer seem like the right one and tries to trick you. If you miss one concept you will probably fail the test. Also he grades very hard on writing assingments. Overall don't take him!
This is by far the worst class I have had. It's the longest class and it's very boring. The tests are EXTREMELY hard and make no sense. I agree with the person below me, you ask him something or say anything and all you get it is "ok". He's not clear on ANYTHING. It's safe to say I'm failing this class :(
This is the hardest class I have taken so far! I go to class every day, do my assignments. and ace everything. He gives one, 1 question quiz on the reading assignment but he doesnt tell you which day you are going to take it. I read the chapters over and over as well as study the notes he gives, and i still have failed the exams. Good luck!!!
Well on top of all the crap listed bellow... Don't expect for any help with the grade. I was .4 points away from a B. So I received my one and only C of college. Really shows character. So don't take him, you'll regret it! It useless crap anyway..
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN MY LIFE! i mean there is nothing to like about it i HATE the professor & the class! it is horrible! he does 'Pass or Fail Quizzes' aka 1 Question! The stuff you read is NEVER on the test! it seems like you can change his mind with something you say in class therefore your NOT learning! =/
True, he is not always clear; but the class is really not that hard. I learned a lot, and it was one of my favorite classes (concept-wise) thus far. He is also very willing to help if you need it; just go to his office. This is not a class that you can expect not to have to put forth an effort.
Dying for a nap?! take this class then. This class is HORRIBLE!! I do not recommend this class to anyone! It is super boring and he has no personality. The test are HARD! He will call you out if he thinks you are texting or doing something he doesn't like. The 1 question quizzes are easy if you read but the book is more boring than the class!!
He is very sweet. He answers all questions. You take notes all class but do not really need the notes. Can be boring if topic doesnt interest you. I enjoyed the class. exams are oline but you have to take them in a computer lab
Horrible teacher, nothing is clear with this man. The tests are terrible although concepts are straight from the notes. Attendance isnt manditory but you may miss a quiz. JUST SAVE YOUR TIME AND FIND A DIFFERENT TEACHER!!!!
Boring class, boring subject, boring professor. His tests are like 70 questions long and the questions seem ambiguous. Look at the questions you missed though because 2/3 of the final is old questions. Never lets class out early, 10 one question pop quizzes on the reading homeworks, and never has a clear answer to a question. Do the study guides!
Terrible! He is so unclear about what you are learning. He never answers your question directly. You can tell he knows a lot about what he is teaching, but he just doesn't teach it very well. The tests are rediculous because you discuss a total of 5 problems in a 75min class and then he expects you to answer 70 questions on a test in that time.
The subject is unclear, not the teacher. He explains everything. As long as you do the take notes and do the study guide you will do great! The class is boring and sometimes slow moving but you can learn a lot !
Well to put it simply Mr. Newhard is extremely monotone and boring. He assigns readings every class that he will quiz you on. The readings are hard to follow because they are so long and boring. He hates when students text and he will call you out. You can only miss 4 days then he deducts points from your total grade. Don't take this class!
Mr. Newhard is a very awkward but smart person. he is very soft spoken but him writing the notes for you makes the exams easy and he gives out study guides. for homework you have to read and he quizzes on it the next day. Not a bad professor
I dreaded going to this class every single time I went. The teacher is extremely monotone and boring. He is hard to understand because he speaks so softly. When you ask him questions, he gives very vague answers. He is educated, but doesn't know how to teach well. He does give study guides for all tests though, which is very helpful.
Mr. Newhard is a good guy and should get more credit than what he recieves. He gives 4 extra percentage points for having perfect attendance which really helps your grade. This is the only extra credit opportunity. His tests are not hard if you pay attention in class and take good notes and look at his study guides.
I think that this Dr. Newhard is wonderful at teaching ethics. My only complaint is that he is very quiet. It is a morning class and I am already tired, so when he talks so low I almost fall asleep. Overall, he is great though. Just drink some coffee and sit up front.
He was awful! I attended every single class and took very thorough notes. There is a lot of reading out of the book but he does not explain the material in a way the students can understand it. I was failing and asked for help and he simply told me to find someone else in the class to help me. I do not recommend him at all!
This class is horrible! He requires you to read the textbook which is unclear. The tests are all unclear. He never gives a straight forward answer. I'm an avg student and I struggled in here. He doesn't offer any extra credit. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
Professor Newhard did an excellent job explaining difficult course material. Effort is needed on behalf of the student to understand the nature of the high level courses that Newhard teaches. Good students don't complain about a lack of extra credit, but appreciate helpful feedback and answered questions, both of which Newhard is willing to give.
He's a good teacher. Make sure you do the readings he give quizzes often. Even if you understand the material it is hard to do well on the tests. The test are meant to trick you and the study guides are not very helpful. The tests are based on examples in the class and notes, in order to do well go to every class.
The most dull professor I have ever had. He speaks very mono toned and writes every little thing on the board. He will awkardly stare at the class and try to pull answers from us but no one understands what he is asking. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR
He is very monotone and boring! He never gives a direct answer and he awkwardly stares at the class when waiting for an answer. He knows a lot about the subject but he can't explain it to where a student could understand. The study guide doesn't help. You need to remember exactly what he said during the lecture to pass.
Jay Newhard is a great professor in my opinion. If you go to class he will give you everything that is on his exam. As long as you write down everything that he writes on the board and study your notes you should have no problem. He is willing to help. My only complaint is he is very quiet so sit up front!
The material is tough, its real philosophy. He gives daily reading assignments which can be really hard to understand, and he gives one question reading quizzes. Tests are some multiple choice, and then essays where you have to regurgitate the arguments learned in class. I did fine in the class, but I know lots of people who didn't.
He is very quiet when he speaks and very monotone. He gives pop quizes from the text book readings he assigns, and they're only one question. MEMORIZE MEMORIZE MEMORIZE for his tests. You will write A LOT for each test and the final exam is the hardest and longest one there is. Attendance is mandatory and its hard to stay awake during lecture
Jay is an awkward person who doesn't know how to interact with his students. He barely answers questions asked and wants you to think without using your opinion. The tests are nearly impossible with some multiple choice and essay questions where he wants you to memorize and rewrite arguments straight from your notes. Definitely don't take him.
This professor was is the reason my GPA is down the drain. I am an A,B student and this is the first class I have ever failed. His tests are IMPOSSIBLE. The computer will shut down every time you go to take one of his tests. You have to read for homework every night because there's a quiz every class. He gives no EC and no help. DONT TAKE THIS!
He talks very low and does not write very big on the board. It is very difficult to copy notes. There is no class work, all you do is take notes, do a reading assignment, take a test on the reading (usually one question so it is a 0 or a 100) and take exams.
I have been an A B student my whole life & this is the first class I have failed. Many other students in the class as well as myself study for every exam his gives & we still make awful grades on them. His exams are mostly essays & he gives pop quizzes that are 1 question so you either make a 0 or a 100. The only EC he gives is from attendance.
I love this class, Dr. Newhard is an excellent professor. All the negative comments must be from students who didn't want to actually do any work in college. As long as you come to class and take good notes and actually study those notes, you should be fine. This is definitely not an "easy A", you have to be willing to work for it.
Jay is a good guy, he has good intentions when he is speaking, but this was hands down the HARDEST class of my life. It's hard to stay awake during his class, and the information from the lectures are so important because you basically have to memorize EVERYTHING he says for a test. But if you pass all of the quizzes, and have perfect attendance EC
Jay's style is very vague. He's a true philosopher because he answers questions with questions. You need to KNOW the material cause the tests are not all multiple choice and you actually need to know your stuff. Read your book and know how to write short essays. If you're confident to try, maybe you'll meet someone who actually enjoys his class.
HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. I have always been a A/B student but this class really drug my GPA down. I wasn't just taking this class, I was taking several but Newhard apparently thought this was our only class to study for. TONS of notes, very boring, hard to follow. Also, you have got to MEMORIZE EVERYTHING you write down
This has been the worst philosophy class I have taken. As a philosophy major I have taken many, but this was unlike any other class I have taken and not in a good way. He is horrible at answering questions, does not give extra help even if you ask for it, assigns readings and papers every class, and grades them so hard for no reason. DON'T TAKE HIM
His lectures bore you to sleep, and his tests get harder and harder along with his grading. he doesn't clearly answer questions and his feedback on tests isn't helpful. don't take him its impossible
Loved this class. The lectures are interesting. Write everything he writes on the board, you'll be fine. Memorize the arguments and what supports each premise for the test. I literally wrote them down EXACTLY for the short answer questions and got full credit. Read, there's always an easy 1 question quiz. Come to class every day for extra avg pts.
Good professor that knows what he is talking about. Not the easiest class that I have ever taken but definitely not the hardest either. As long as you come to class and copy everything he writes on the board and study it, you shouldn't have a problem passing.
If you don't come to class, then there is a big chance you won't pass the class. Majority of the tests he gives are essays which tend to be difficult. I would suggest not sitting at the back of class because his handwriting on the white board is small and hard to read. His voice makes you want him to read you a bedtime story because it is so soft.
Professor Newhard is very knowledgeable on the subject of Philosophy. It is obvious that he is very intelligent. But he has a tendency to be very vague, and he bounces around a subject a lot before he answers any questions. It sometimes becomes very unclear what he is trying to explain. But he is a very nice, patient man with a good sense of humor.
This class is the hardest class I ever took so far, you need to be prepared to study for exams and remember all the notes for the exams. Every exam he will raise more points on essays, and that's the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Took this for my humanities course, I regret it so much. Ridiculously hard, even if you copy down notes and try a pay attention to his long lectures it's still hard to maintain a good grade. Does not provide extra help and won't help explain topics. Save your gpa and don't take this.
Professor Newhard knows what hes talking about in terms of philosophy. Very knowledgeable and nice however I must stress that hes very old school in teaching method. He DOES NOT post online so if you miss class, I hope you make friends you can get notes from. Very detailed info but extremely boring lectures to be completely honest.
I really wouldnt take this class, hes very old school so you take a ton of notes. Just study everything you write down from class. He has one question reading quizzes so just read whenever he tells you to, the points get added on to your exam. This class you actually have to try and put effort to get a good grade. The exams are hard.
Long lectures that are very confusing because he talks down to you. There is no chance to raise your grade because it is one question quizzes and tests. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!
The worst class I've ever taken. His lectures are long and dull. The study guides he gives do absolutely nothing to help you on the exams. His test questions will trip you up. I had to drop the class halfway through the semester because I had no chance of ending with a passing grade. Do not take this class with him.
As a non Phil. major I would recommend this course for a writing intensive credit. The class can be dull at times but the material is interesting and he thoroughly explains the concepts discussed. He is quick to respond to any questions you have in or outside of the class. Its a writing course so there is a lot of writing/reading required.
for the love of god, do not take this man's class. all he does is lecture and he talks so quiet, it's really hard to hear him. i will say he knows what he's talking about and does give extra credit from the daily reading quizzes; he's just not a good teacher. also, fyi, he won't push your grade even if it's close to the next letter grade.
Spoke so softly, super difficult to follow the entire lecture. Boring class, test super hard.
Im a freshman and took his 1175 class. The reading from the books he assigns is easy to read. The one-question quizzes are easy because they come from the readings you have to do. The exams are hard because the answer choices he gives are similar and it could be any of them. However, if you take good notes and study, you can pass with an A.
This professor does not know how to teach students effectively. He does not seem to understand the conceptual concepts of the lectures that he posts. I would not recommend this class. I SAID DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. He is not willing to accommodate students that need extra help.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN IN COLLEGE! I would suggest not taking this class with this professor at all. The tests make literally no sense. Each answer sounds the same. He gives an hour to complete the test but with all that excessive reading involved, I NEED A WHOLE DAY! I have never disliked a class so much.
I am a freshman, would not recommend. Each lecture is split up into 3 parts and 30 minutes long. First you have to read about 20 pages, print out or write down 8 pages of notes, listen to lectures, then take a 3 question quiz, lastly homework. Very hard tests, there's about 5 answer choices that are all basically the same answer.. NO EXTRA CREDIT!!
Its amazing how East Carolina University does not give a care about how horrible their professors are. Theyll rather see students fail and retake courses to gather money. The tests in this class were almost unexplainable. How do you give four answer choices that basically say the same thing. This course was a nightmare.
I took him for an online class. you don't need the book. he records a lot of lectures and they are kind of boring, but they really do help with the tests and quizzes. he was very easy to contact outside of class and super helpful.
Professor Newhard doesn't seem to care about students; he would defer questions to the discussion board, where 9 times out of 10 they would a) not be answered or b) he would answer with another question, making me more confused than before I asked. I highly recommend another professor or another course altogether if you can help it.
Jay Newhards tactics make it seem like he wants you to fail his class. You have to listen to lectures that are almost inaudible, review powerpoints, and then take 3 question quizzes. The questions on the quizzes are always trick questions on the smallest details so dont expect to get anything higher than a 2/3. Tests are even worse.
I highly recommend not taking this class. You can have an IQ of 160 and still fail his tests. They are beyond hard. I would study hours for multiple days in advance and still fail. I don't understand why he hasn't caught on to the fact that nobody is doing well on them. This class doesn't reflect your intelligence. Don't let it reflect your GPA. :(
Whether you study like crazy or don't study at all for this class, its very hard to perform well on Newhards exams. They are highly confusing and all the questions and answer choices sound so similar. If you do not have to take this class do not take it and if you do, shoot for a different professor. And the monotone lectures- run the other way.
Please and I mean please do not take him. I took this course during covid, all online. He doesn't give live instruction, he records audio recordings that equal up to hours upon hours. his class is solely off exam grades and his tests have NOTHING to do with his class notes. If this hinders me from applying to nursing school I will be upset.
signed up for this class thinking it was going to be an easy A. Hardest class ive taken at ECU so far. new hard
This is the worst class I have taken at ECU. He is a good person but overall does not seem to care about how well his students do on his tests. I studied for hours, did all of the readings, homework, lectures and I never received higher than a 60% on a test in his class.
Contrary to popular opinion, I actually didn't find this class to be the worst; however, it was pretty difficult. You have to make sure to watch all of the lectures, take solid notes, and always do the study guides. As long as you complete these and study well, you should be fine. I ended up with a 93 and above on all of his test. Good luck though.
Philosophy is a confusing subject in general, but he definitely was really wordy on the exams he would make himself. At least two of the answer choices sounded the same, but there was always one that was more correct. His lecture audios are quite boring, but they help with the test and quizzes. There are definitely easier ethics options.
Contrary to belief, if you apply yourself to the class and find the subject interesting, it is a pretty easy class. The lectures are very heavy and hard to focus on, but if you listen and pay attention to the study guides, you should pass. The three question quizzes is what brought my grade down the most.
took this class thinking is was going to be an easy A. By far hardest class ive ever taken, and didnt learn a single thing. do not take this professor, I struggled a lot. Luckily I get to pass/fail this so it wont affect my GPA.
This quizzes were 3 questions and very easy. The tests were so hard and the study guides he gave had nothing to do with the actually tests. You never could see the questions you got wrong at the end and the final exam was a combination of all the test questions from previous tests.
Test are wicked hard
Considering I practically carried the class regarding to group assistance and studying, I would be prepared to think outside of your personal beliefs. This class was honestly rewarding to my mind, however, he is quite complex. I recommend making your own examples, listen to his example lectures, and simplify the topics. DON'T GIVE UP!!
The worst experience. Assigns textbook readings that have nothing to do with the material. I even emailed him about it and he said that him and the author have different perspectives on ethical lessons! tests were awful. no amount of studying would help you. Take detailed notes on his 2 hour lectures and enjoy your C! This class put me in therapy.
This is the worst class I have ever taken. I failed by one point during covid he will not work with you. The test are extremely hard even if you study, watch the lectures, and communicate with him he is not willing to help you at all. I would not recommend this class to anyone if you have to take it goodluck because if you pass at all you're lucky!
He was very lenient and helpful when I was struggling with my health.. I spend one day on each of the four total modules( 5 days for total semester). Textbook reading was pointless so I quit doing it. Lectures are okay( a little boring but could be worse). Discussion board post are really easy and simply graded just based on how many words you use.
His class was so organized! Its so clear so it's not likely you should have any problems. You have 5 modules with about 5 classes in each module, after every class its a quiz then when you complete the classes its a exam (requires webcam). He leaves it open for roughly 2/3 weeks to make sure everyone is on the same accord and not helplessly behind.
I would not wish this professor on my worst enemy. The test were crazy difficult and he gives no extra credit.
I think this class is actually very challenging. However compared to other ethics professors at ECU, he is definitely the way to go. Lectures and modules are pretty long but he explains everything in depth and makes sure you understand. In addition to that he gives a lot of time to complete this lectures and modules. I would definitely recommend!
If you need to take PHIL 1175 I would 10/10 suggest taking it with him. I took it one semester with a different professor and had to drop it because I was failing. He makes everything so easy to understand. If you do what you are supposed to do, you will get a good grade.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS COURSE. I would not wish this course on anyone ever. It was insanely hard and I have two degrees.
Took this online. Modules included 1hr 15min video lecture, quiz, and sometimes, but rarely a pre reading and homework. Hw isn't turned in it's just personal practice. Tests are on lockdown browser. He does study guides which is nice. Tests vary in difficulty but overall manageable. No midterm/final. The audio on his lectures are kinda quiet.
If you dont do what he says, youll hate him. If you do what he says, youll be fine. Ethics is harder than expected and hes very willing to offer help, but his lectures are extremely long and extremely dry. For the love of god do the readings, just trust me. Overall he wasnt bad, Id take him again if I needed to.
I did not expect to like this class, but I came out loving it. I really struggled in the beginning, but I visited Mr. Newhard in his office to receive help. He allowed me to interrupt class and ask question-after-question. He is also very respectful of different views and opinions that his students have. This class is hard but it is worth taking.
If you dont do what he says, you'll hate him. If you do what he says, you'll be fine. Ethics is harder than expected and he's very willing to offer help, but his lectures are extremely long and extremely dry. For the love of god do the readings, just trust me. Overall he wasn't bad, Id take him again if I needed to.
I took this course online thinking it would be easier WRONG! You have 3 grades and they are your test! No extra credit and the test have nothing to do with what we read. The study guides also don't give you the answers they are questions or statements being asked.
Professor Newhard only has a few graded assignments and they consist of exams and quizzes which the quizzes only have one question. He does give notes but, they can be hard to follow along with. He has a very monotone composure and it can be difficult to follow along with him.
Professor Newhard was very rude when seeking for guidance. After missing one assignment, I received a hateful email in which I was accused of being a lier. Not only is he disrespectful, his class is very hard to follow. I would not recommend this professor at all.
He wasn't the best by any means, but def not the worst. There are required readings every class which are up for a 1 question quiz at the start of majority classes. Lectures are quite boring, due to his monotone voice. For 1 hr 15 class we were not allowed to use the restroom, or else we would lose percentage points on our grade. Tests are hard.
Absolutely terrible. DO NOT take him unless you want to fail. I have not got above a 50 on test in this class, and I am an A+ student. VERY hard tests and quizzes. You will fail this course if you take it with him.
This course is hard, but if you go to tutoring and ask him questions he's more than willing to help. Because there are only four units and few quizzes (that don't count for much) maintaining a high grade is hard but still achievable. To pass this class is to understand the theories enough to explain them back to someone and the case examples.
The online class is not hard if you listen to the lectures and retain them. You wouldn't need the book if you're able to understand the content.
Each assignment includes a podcast that you'll have to listen and usually, each of them is about an hour and it really time consuming.
This was by far my least favorite professor. He talks down to his students and his lectures are incredibly boring. Avoid if you can.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. This was probably the worst class I ever took. Over an hour long lecture videos and thats it besides the textbook. You'll have 3 question quizzes and tests. Thats it.
His intro to the class makes it sound harder than it is. Some students dropped the class at the start. Their mistake...Turns out the lecture recordings are excellent and will get you through the 4 exams with no problem. He cares about teaching and the course is interesting. There are some bad profs out there, but Newhard isn't one of them.
I took Phil1175 as a 7 week online course. This course was somewhat easy as long you did all of the assigned work, studied, and paced yourself. This class requires effort! We used a lockdown browser that turned on your webcam during exams. The notes can be a little confusing so make sure to watch the lecture videos.
Professor that tries his best to sound smarter than he is every day. Over complicated basic ideas. Probably why all the classes he teaches have less than 7 people.
Made a syllabus quiz seem like rocket science. Do not take ethics with him if you can avoid it. Makes basic concepts hard to understand.
It took me less than 24 hours to drop his course. In my opinion he has unrealistic expectations for a shorten semester online course and I already had concerns with the syllabus quiz. Yes, the syllabus quiz. When I reached out he responded quickly by basically calling me dumb.
He is not helpful at all when it comes to needing help with a grade. Only lectures and expects us to learn by looking at the notes on screen.
There is an exam on LDB with webcam every week. The only way to learn the material is by listening to a podcast that he records that is over an hour long. Might be easier to take in person- but online was just impossible.
Actually do bad. I have never disliked a teacher in my time of being a student until I took this class. So much reading that isnt even useful to the material we cover in class or on the test.
If I can save anyone from taking this professor, I would. He was a terrible professor, assigning around 20 hours of work (videos, podcasts, lecture notes, quizzes, 3-5 discussion questions, and tests) per week. Everything he tries to teach is just lost with how much useless and confusing information he tries to make us remember each unit. 0/10.
This professors class was extremely difficult. He assigns multiple over hour long lectures that are hard to understand and pay attention to. They are recordings of classes he's taught and you cannot read the whiteboard nor barely hear what he's saying with the extra noise from the students. All exams have a webcam and lockdown browser.
First off, do not take the 7-week course I felt overwhelmed by the amount of information, take the full. That said, he is a fair tester, and his questions come directly from the lectures and notes. If you don't understand something, he responds quickly and explains it simply. This class is challenging, but with effort, you can achieve a good score.
The professor's teaching style takes some adjusting, but with effort and using resources like Unstuck AI along with the textbook, you can do well. Lectures are dry, but quizzes and tests are manageable if you stay on top of the material.
Do not be worried about this class, this professor is awesome if you are willing to do the slightest amount of work. The study guides are super useful. Also, do the readings! There will be pop quizzes on them, but do not worry they are not difficult. Participation counts! You'll get out of this class what you are willing to put into it.
The lectures could be a little slow, but it was a good class. There was about a chapter to read for every class with pop quizzes based off the reading.
I took this class a year ago. It was terrible. The tests were extremely hard. He had an attitude too when asked about certain questions with answers that were practically identical. Questions on tests were very wordy and confusing followed by answers that made no sense. It didnt feel like ethics it felt like guess what the teacher believes is right
He thought he was the smartest guy ever when in reality he created extremely difficult exams with answers that were meant to trick you. Seemed to have an ego problem and gave a ton of attitude when I raised concerns about the fairness of the exams. If your taking this class as an elective for credit I would avoid him like the plague.
Lectures are interesting but the tests have very ambiguously worded questions and answer choices that feel like they are trying to trick you. Gets defensive and borderline rude if asked about anything. Does not seem to want to help his students at all. Course material is locked behind a 20 question quiz you must get a 100 on in the first week.
look at the reviews, just no. hes rude and idk how hes still teaching here, everyone complains and no one actually learns.
His test are very hard and difficult, no extra credit or grade drops, but you can take 2 additional test to replace 2 other test grades
You're only graded on tests and quizzes that are extremely hard. He includes guided notes in most of the lecture videos but majority of the material on tests and quizzes are not included in the notes. I took notes on every lecture video and studied before every exam and never scored above a 75.
the class isn't as bad as it seems. he doesn't give many high A's because he doesn't believe students actually do good enough work though. hw was readings and listening to his lectures then a short quiz. take notes on reading, then lecture + notes, quiz questions come from both. few exams which were a little hard. take notes, put time and effort in
DO NOT TAKE. HE IS NOT GOING TO ROUND ANY GRADE
