Amazing teacher. After taking his ISS class, I took his Internationsl relations class, and loved it. He will make you smile every day, and loves class conversation. I find myself going to his class, because I find it fun. I suggest taking notes on your computer, so you can print them for your exams. Put them on 8 point font, and print and EASY A!

Really good teacher. Tests are online and you have 5 essays on which you choose your own topic except 1 he assigns it though. I never opened my book except on tests an I got an A in the class. Very easy!

Took as online course. Fairly easy but you really need to study the power point presentations to do well on the quizzes. Exams cover everything from beginning to what was last covered, so basically you get tested on the first chapter like five times! BUT he does give you a study sheet of topics. Be sure you participate in weekly discussions.

American National Government was a pretty easy class. Just make sure you do current event journals and watch out for the 10 PAGE RESEARCH PAPER!!! yes... It was awful, but I got a 100 on it, so it wasn't that bad. He uses powerpoints at ALL times, so it can get a little boring, but they're very well informed! He knows all there is about politics!

Awesome professor ook on line and it was the beat on line experience i had he went at a steady pace and assignment and quizzes were cake!!! it was informative and relatively easy even having a huge work load i was still able to get an a I definitely recommend him...if u want an A go with him no drama at all and no stress

This prof. was pretty good. Guided us through the whole course. I took him online and all the exams come from his powerpoint. The class is basically discussion and quiz based with exams in the middle. Pretty easy. Didnt really use the text book.

Show up, do the work, enjoy. Teacher will lecture most the time but is positive which helps pass the time. Good experience.

Great professor! Only have 3 exams & 7 papers to write but only 3 pages long. Very easy class & teaches very well. All exams are taken online & are open for 5 days. Highly recommended professor.

He's a little weird but his points are very clear. Very easy class. Just about everything is done online; test, exams, notes, etc. You get to choose your essay topics which only have to be 3 pages long.. It can get a little boring and he gets side tracked easy but its a easy credit and good teaching methods.

Really easy class....jokes are a little corny but as long as you take notes and listen you're perfectly fine for the tests. There are 7 essays that are more like mini research papers which are also easy. He is willing to work with his students and eryeasy going. I enjoyed taking his Social Science class.

He is an awesome teacher. During class you go over his powerpoint notes, but he makes class very interesting and allows for open discussions. You have to complete 7 easy essays in which you pick the topic. There are 3 exams, easy but make sure you review the answers to previous exams and you will do GREAT! I got an A and really enjoyed his class!

He was very clear on his lectures, but did sometimes test on things that are in the book so you have to keep up with the book if you want to pass. He is very knowledgeable about the subject and is very helpful if you have any question. i took his class during the summer so there was an essay due each week. all together i got an easy A...

Easy A, just show up as much as possible because he does do pop quizzes where you get a 100 if you're there and a 0 if you are not. He laughs at his own jokes a lot. Just laugh along and you will be fine!

Thompson is a professor I would recommend to anybody needing to take a social science! You can tell he loves what he does by making it interesting for his students. I find myself always laughing in his class. There isn't much to do expect take notes and a few essays that aren't tough. As long as you pay attention it will be a breeze!

Fun class. Lectures were never dull or boring. Occasionally goes of topic. Funny. Helpful. Super nice. Very easy to get an A if you can keep up the test grades.

His class is really easy. Just do the essays that he has every other week. Show up for the pop quiz in class, and complete your exams on time. All of his exams are online with the exception of the final. Based on the students, he can really get carried away with the discussion and end up way off topic. He smiles A LOT. Review guides, not helpful.

He is an excellent teacher. He makes sure that all of the material that he goes over is learned. He is also extremely funny. The only reason I failed is because i did not try hard enough in this class, show up and do the work he assigns, and you will ace this class.

He's truly passionate about what he does. I had him twice in one semester for POS2112 and INR2002 and it was always something to look forward to! The work isn't bad at all and the papers and exams are relativity easy!! I recommend him to anyone and everyone.

Good professor! Few papers but they're not bad and the Current Affair journals weren't bad either. He's hilarious and you can tell he knows what he's talking about. I would take him again for sure!

Summer A, He expects a 750 word essay due weekly, which is pretty easy as long as you do your format the way he wants it and make some kind of effort. Good lectures, he makes sure you learn all the high points of the course. I put forth an effort on my essays and studied my notes and got an A. I will use him to fill my social science B. NatGov/STGO

My absolute favorite teacher at CF. He is GREAT. He is very dedicated to what he teaches but he is excellent at teaching. Assignments are very clear and simple, mainly writing. The book is required but we didnt use it once. very interesting and understanding :)

The class was very organized and well structured. Professor Thompson was very helpful and informative. This class was quite easy and informative. I look forward to his Government class.

This professor is amazing!! Due to his profound amount of knowledge and extreme patience and clarity, you will never fall behind in this class. Whether you know anything about government or not, you will succeed in this class if you listen and ask questions. The homework is not difficult, very reasonable. I will take him again if given the chance.

Great class. All i did was follow the emails every week in the module. Also, I kept the syllabus in mind throughout the semester. Follow the rubrics for essays and then you won't go wrong.

Great teacher. He doesn't read your essays, but make sure they're easy reads in order to get full grade. Easy class, an elementary school student with internet access could pass this class with an A. Did I mention, NO TEXTBOOK!

This was my second time taking a class with Professor Thompson and once again he was very helpful. Everything is explained in detail and he is very clear of expectations. He gives you early feedback on all essays and will help anyway he can. Take him for any class you can!!!!!

A little late on my rating, but after attending Florida State for three semesters, I miss having Mr. Thompson as a professor. He is insightful, passionate, and more than helpful.. if you just ask. Taking his classes sparked my interest in politics,as a result I am one year away from starting my masters in Am. Politics, and all credit goes to him.

Enjoyed this class, lectures were interesting, take good notes as test answers are given with lecture, tests are online, 750 word essay due every couple of weeks, 1 presentation. Enjoyable, not too difficult. Mr. Thompson is well versed on his topic, and his delivery style is easy going and laid back. I would take him again in a minute.

Professor Jay Thompson is an amazing instructor. I work hard in his class and he rewards that. When he teaches, he teaches with an ability to draw in his student's attention. His lectures are informative and exciting. If you need Amer. Government, State&Local Politics, International Relations, or Elections, I suggest these classes for those credits

Great class. Although, we didn't hear much from him, the work was clear and easily achievable. 3 papers 1250 words. Weekly mandatory discussion posts. Test materials come mainly from the book and power point lectures. SAVE THEM for reviews.

Great guy and teacher class is learning experience,fun and pretty informal. Hes a jem for the college his students have gone on to do great things,from law school to state and national political aids as well as influential writing and political activism of all types. Teaches to be part of the solution not just focused on the problem.

I took his class and he was a good professor. I liked how he was able to balance discussion time and lecture time. Most assignments will be in the online textbook, Mindtap; however, he assigns current event journals every two weeks that need to be a minimum or 8 paragraphs (pretty easy.) He gives random attendance quizzes , so show up to class.

Surprisingly, I really liked taking American National Government.

National Government is an easy A if you do everything and put in effort on the discussion forums, Thompson makes it clear what you need to do for the week.

First of all, this is not a fake review written by the professor. Honestly, it was a very informative class. I can't speak for the professor in person, but his online class is very structured and clear, with weekly assignments. He likes thoughtful replies on the forums and gives extra credit for those. You'll read a lot though (but not that much).

I dont prefer to be an active speaker in class or in general but he calls on all of his students at some point. I found it to be very helpful though. Show up, stay awake, give some feedback, and turn your journals in on time. (Easy pass) Overall good professor and wants his students to not only pass but learn. He also has a sense of humor.

Professor Thompson is a great professor. He is caring, helpful and you have a clear understanding of what is expected.

Professor Thomspon truly cares about all of his students. Very engaging, always has an interesting story about historical figures. You will need to pay for Cengage as that is the main platform his work is given through, but I didnt use the actual textbook much. His tests revolve around class lectures. Make sure to show up to class! Passing is easy

One of my favorite professors at CF. He cares for his students and loves to talk in the zoom meetings about anything. He really cares about his students, it seems, and loves the subject that he is teaching. He is very knowledgeable about the subject as well. Attendance is required but you will have fun at the meetings because he makes it enjoyable.

Professor Thompson's class will be the easiest class you take if you show up and read the textbook. He made a class about controversial subjects interesting and fun while keeping it respectful. I learned a lot and I'm glad that I took the class as I now understand our political system much better than before.

He is a really good professor because his lectures are really interesting, but not always about the homework or the topics that are going to be in the exam, his lectures are very general

Professor Thompson was amazing. I took his American Government course online. I have a passion for the way our country works, but I think anyone would enjoy him as a professor. He is extremely respectful of everyone. I do think he leans a bit to one side of the political aisle, but it does not affect the class at all. I would totally take him again

This professor was awesome! I really enjoyed his class! He does give "pop quizzes" but they are just attendance quizzes, even if you get the question wrong you get 100. When I had some issues going on he was very understanding and give me extra time for assignments. He is super funny and definitely cares for his students!

Professor Thompson's class is very easy to follow. Syllabus gives clear grading criteria for discussions. Every week (tu-tu 8a) there's a textbook chapter, several short quizzes, and a discussion post. Beware; workload gets heavier in the second half of the semester. Midterm/final are through honorlock. Thompson is good about responding to concerns

Long, drawn out, sometimes boring lectures but overall good professor. Assignments were through Mindtap and was assigned a chapter just about every week. Three 1,250-word essays with a midterm and a final. The midterm and final were both in essay format with 5 questions and 180 minutes to write responses to each question.

Took this online and the class is super easy. The modules are through Cengage with only a handful of assignments each week that can be knocked out in a few hours. The professor is very kind and helpful.

Amazing teacher! Cares about his students. He is very informative and smart with American government. He wants all of his students to stay up to date with the world politics so we can learn. He is very kind and will help you even if you miss the due date for an assignment or an exam. All teachers should be like him!

Mr. Thompson is lit. Most of the participation is lit. The current event is my favorite, but the test is a rough.

Professor Thompson stands out. His lectures make government and politics interesting. At first, I wasn't interested in learning about American Government and was frustrated that it was required. By the end of the 1st class, I was excited about it. Complicated stuff starts to make sense. Instead of memorizing you understand stuff. You retain it.

This guy is nerdy smart about anything he teaches. There's a lot of work but you will definitely learn in his class. I gave him a hard time in class and he took it like a champ. No extra credit and 3-1250 word papers. I'm not a great paper writer and made decent grades. I put that I have a B but it may be higher when he finishes grading everything

Prof T is an amazing teacher that knows his subjects inside and out. There's a lot of work in his class and you will learn. Every other week, a current event journal is due and he drops the lowest of these. No extra credit. He acts tough but he will sometimes bend if you ask. I enjoyed his class but I'm so glad it's over. Not my favorite subject!

I would 100% recommend professor Thompson if you need to take a government class. He is very kind and understanding. I had a life event happen while in his class and missed a few assignments and he opened them back up for me. The class is pretty easy itself as long as you read the textbook and look at the feedback on the homeworks.

Professor Thompson is the best. He's willing to open back up assignment. Grades very easy. Though it does take him awhile to grade lol which had me worried the entire semester, he did assure me multiple times that I would be fine by the end of the semester if I kept up with the assignments. I had him for online but still felt like he cared for us.

EASY A if you care about that. classwork is mainly open-book quizzes and biweekly written assignments (short, only takes an hour or so to complete, easy grader). the side hustle of college classes.

Good teacher, and the classwork is fairly easy, just tedious. The textbook for the class was free, and the lectures are usually easy to follow, although he gets a bit off topic sometimes. I would recommend him and would take his class again.

The class itself was easy, the event journals sucked, though. He does get off topic, so prepare to pretty much teach yourself what you need to know. It's an easy class, at the least. I had zero issues, and he's very forgiving with his grading if you talk to him.
