i took anatomy and physiology with this professor & got B in his class. he is good though, but if he dosen't like you at the begning of the smester it means he won't like you the whole smester. we have to give the presentation at the end of the smester. i would recomand not to take with him.
Highly knowledgable
Highly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I will recommend this professor.
He makes anatomy hard because he doesn't explain anything to you. When someone asks a question, he just repeats what he just said. Has a strong accent so hard to understand sometimes. Tests are straight out of the book so if you got time...read!!Physio is not too bad if you keep up. He is still hard to understand sometimes. TAKE AT OWN RISK.
Professor Shah is an amazing teacher who takes the time to really explain his material with his long teaching experience. The only negative thing about his class are the 15 point quizes they are really hard to get a good grade on, but there only fifteen points. Overall he is a great teacher.
very strong accent can't understand what he is saying. just goes off of power points and nothing on the power points is on tests which makes the class super hard to pass. did not like the teacher at all
most boring class ever. READS off of powerpoint slides doesn't explain anything and gets mad if someone doesn't understand something. he keeps you the WHOLE ENTIRE time even if you have finished ALL of your work. by far the worst teacher I've had
Dr. Shah is HIGHLY knowledgeable. He not only knows his material, but hes LIVED it. He told us about when he worked for the ER in Neapol. He has the cutest kids! You can tell he actually wants you to pass, he will explain things in a diff way during office hours. LAB EXAMS: Ask him exactly what he wants you to know! awesome dude tho. :)
both tests are extremely hard and he does not give you the correct answers after he has corrected the test. so there is no way of knowing what the correct answer is. also he doesn't let you keep your tests to study. he takes weeks to correct the tests and show you your grade. i would recommend taking this class with someone else
doesn't know how to teach! has no patience for students who don't understand and doesn't try explaining things differently. very hard to understand him. has a very strong accent and talks very fast. very hard to understand what he is saying. you need to have plenty of time to teach yourself. don't take the class with him if you can
I took anatomy and Physiology with him and got A in both. He is highly knowledgable and extremly helpful. The exams can be hard, but he resets the top of the curve bring up all the scores.Highly recommendable.
His test was rather difficult & tricky, although I still got an A haha. I really liked his material and thought his lectures were pretty interesting.
awesome and cool professor. He knows his what he teaches!!!his class is easy.he's super nice and wants all students to get either an A or a B in his class.I'd definitely recommend him to everybody taking anatomy.
great classes. He is fun, teaches very well! He is very fair and if you put in the work the investment will pay you back heavily
Awesome instructor, creates high interest in students.Very fair and always ready to help or answer your question. He will make you ask questions and clarify the things. I was lucky to be in his class.
Worst teacher! Has a very strong accent and can't understand what he is saying. He gets really mad and frustrated when you ask a question and don't understand the material. I would recommend taking this class with someone else.
WORST teacher EVER! I had to drop the class because there was no way for me to pass. He will stay in his office the whole time during labs and when you finish he wont let you leave and has you sit in class til class is over. Very unprofessional!
I took anatomy and physiology with him… Definitely has a thick accent and talks fast, which makes it even more difficult to understand his lectures. Not only that but he only reads from the powerpoint..Good luck if you decide to take his class.
Very hard to understand and gets mad when you dont understand something. Would definitely recommend taking classes with someone else
Let's just say i'm sooooooo glad this class is over! Will not take another class with him ever again
Dr. Shaw is great, I calculated my grade and getting A. Thanks Dr shaw.
I got B in the class when I calculated my points today. dr. shah is a medical doctor and the best anatomy instructor with good teaching skills.
Dr.Shah is a great instructor and his classes are interesting and really cares if you invest your time. Anatomy is a tough subject. He is also really helpful and is always offering to help when need. Great instructor !
Yahooo.....,I got my grade after final ....A. One of the best instructor,s I have had out of my Bachlor,s and Master's course.
I love the class
I really enjoyed taking these classes with dr. shah given that I took one of the classes over summer. He is really good teacher and his exams are very fair. As long as one devotes lots of time to memorizing and studying, getting an A should is possible.
nice teacher! all the exams are from lecture.
The professor uses PowerPoints but he often skips slides and write everything on the board. Con: VERY confusing. Will say something in class and the answer on test will be opposite esp. w/ Renal Sys. Take him but ASK questions, KNOW the RIGHT answers to all the quizzes/ tests. Presentations/ hw/ participation are full credit to all so focus on test
One of my favorite professors I've had throughout my school career. He takes interest in students as long and is willing to build relationships. He can be hard to understand at times but you can always ask for clarification. Super nice guy!
Dr. Shah is a good teacher. He really knows the material and wants his students to learn and succeed in the class. He always encourages students to speak up and asks questions. I highly recommend him. If you get a bad grade in the class it's because you didn't pay attention and didn't study. Anatomy is a tough subject.
Very helpful teacher. He is alwasys willing to clarify anyting and has lots of office hours. It is a tough class but he will help you in any way he can. Tests are hard but he does give a curve on exams. Missing lecture could hurt you alittle but do not miss labs!
Test slides + lecture, wmaybe 3-5 questions coming from lab & textbook. I didn't buy the textbook; still passed with an A. Quizzes right before midterms help you study. 4 midterms, 6 quizzes, 1 presentation, final (no lab practical). Shah really wants his students to understand so will keep explaining until everyone gets it & he can be funny. :)
Dr. Shah is one of the most helpful, knowledgeable professors I've had. He includes many anecdotes and medical knowledge to reinforce concepts. Tests were very in-depth, but curved, and required next-level thinking and application of concepts.
Dr. Shah is a wonderful professor and he wants all his students to pass. He is always willing to help and will answer all your questions. By far Dr. Shah is my most favorite instructor.
You really need to study. He has a really thick accent. 50% of the time you can't understand what he is saying. He reads off power point slides in lecture. He makes attendance mandatory (in lecture he makes you sign a piece of paper) Lecture is supposed to be 50 minutes long but he NEVER finishes on time! His lab exams are pretty tough.
Professor Shah is an amazing guy. He is such a nice and helpful person but I believe the reason people say he's hard is because of the subject material not the professor himself. Yea this class needs a lot of work and you cannot lag a lot in this class because if you do you will fall behind. Overall, it was a hard subject but also interesting.
He is straight forward and tells you what you need to know for tests. Quizzes are a bit harder, but they force you to stay on top of new material. Presentation at the end of the semester is pretty easy. Lowest grade was like 40/45. 3 curved tests and one uncurved final. Tests are fair, not impossible, but definitely not easy.
I was fortunate to take his class, he is a great professor
If you're looking for an easy A or B, this course may not be for you. You have to work for each point and reading is a must. If you're a pre-nursing student, he is the instructor for you. He gives many clinical examples which are helpful. It may not seem like it but he truly cares for each student and goes out of his way to help you pass the class
Dr. Shah has a very thick accent that is hard to understand. Lectures always go over time and he is not clear about communicating when class is cancelled. His tests are straightforward but you have to study A LOT. He curves the tests, but it is still one of the hardest classes I've taken because there is so much information you have to know.
3. He is very respectful, If something was difficult he had no problem breaking it down. Made sure all students understand his lecture before he moves on other topics. He is an excellent professor.
Shah is a great professor. Most of the reviews are saying he's mean because of their test scores but in reality you create your own scores. These type of classes are by far the hardest I've ever taken but as long as you study and he sees that you are trying he will pass you. 5 exams. & some lab work made up grade.
Dr. Shah's class is difficult but manageable. There are 3 exams, a final, quizzes in lab, and a presentation. The 3 exams are curved, but not the final. He cares about his students and truly wants you to learn. The material is heavy so don't skip class because he will mention things in class that are not in the power-points.
Great professor, but he could be more clear with what to study. The study guides posts up were too vague. His lecture exams were fair, but he often threw in questions from physiology, which were curveballs. Lectures were great. Study the slides for exams. Also, take good notes.
Very difficult to understand, confusing. Best to avoid
This is by far the hardest class I have ever taken . He's a decent professor but throws a lot of information at you. Study guides are also very vague so it makes studying for his difficult tests quite challenging. No extra credit available.
Dr. Shah is one of my favorite professors. Took Anatomy with him this summer & it was challenging but fun. Study lecture slides for the lecture exams and do yourself a favor and stay for the WHOLE lab period. You'd be surprised how easy lab practicals are when you utilize the lab time instead of skipping out early.
Dr. Shah is one of my favorite professors. Had Bio 4 with him this summer & it was challenging but fun. Study lecture slides for the lecture exams and do yourself a favor and stay for the WHOLE lab period. You'd be surprised how easy lab practicals are when you utilize the lab time instead of skipping out early.
Dr. Shah is a fantastic professor. He teaches concepts in a way that is both easy to understand and interesting. I took his summer physiology course and while it was certainly challenging, it was also rewarding. Put in the effort and your grade will reflect it. Thoroughly study the lecture notes, read your book, and you will do very well.
Dr. Shah is an excellent professor! I took his class after graduating from UC Davis, and I can definitely say that based on the way he runs the class, he challenges students and prepares them for 4-year universities. Study the lecture slides and pay attention in class, and you'll do fine! I recommend reading the textbook if you need clarification.
Dr. Shah is an amazing professor. Your score depends on how much time you spend outside the class to learn the material. Bio-4 is mostly memorization. For lab exam, I think the best way is to learn from models, take pictures and make videos on your phone, watch them, and then label a blank model on another day in the lab. You'll enjoy this course.
Amazing and knowledgeable professor who motivate you to study !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Shah is the best! Not an easy A, but worth it if you work hard. Pay close attention in lecture and sit in the front. He asks a lot of questions to the people in the back he thinks aren't paying attention. Practicals are write-in so know the terminology and spelling. Put in the time to study and go to SI sessions and you will do well.
Dr. Shah is an excellent professor. If you want to truly learn the material take his class. Anatomy and Physiology are no cake walks, but if you work honestly and effectively then you will do well. My advice for the tests: know everything. Study the lecture notes and read the books every day to stay on top of it. Dr. Shah made me love A&P.
You have to work really hard for your grade in this class. He is difficult to understand at times and is very disorganized especially when it comes to labs. There is no set way to study for the class because expectations aren't clear. Also, he crams everything at the end so expect a quiz, presentation, midterm and final all back-to-back.
Overall a really great professor. He is really knowledgeable and teaches the subject like a 4-year college level. A&P are tough subjects but getting an A is doable if you put in the time and work. BIO 5 has many opportunities to get grade boosters (e.g. labs, participation and presentation) and midterms are curved.
Awesome professor . You need really work hard to get A grade. His teaching is upper level. I like his clinical application in the lectures.
Dr. Shah is an amazing professor! He definitely knows his material and he teaches it very well! He has a strong accent and is sometimes difficult to understand at times, but he makes the class enjoyable overall. You must spend the extra time outside of the classroom to get a grip on the material. Plenty of opportunities to learn different ways!
the best professor at woodland, easy to get an A, for anatomy, get a study group and can help each other out quizzes each other, next for example he wants you to know certain features of the knee, so trace the knee pic from lab book on blank paper and make copies and just label the knee over and over and that applies to the rest in anatomy
This professor really cares about his students doing well. Anatomy and Physio aren't easy classes, but I believe Dr. Shah made it simple. He uses clinical application and really prepares you. He cares for his students and wants to help them pass. It's doable to get an A, if you put the work in!
Shah was such an awful professor. Everytime I would ask him questions he would make me feel and look unintelligent infront of the whole class as if I should already know the material. He did not give clear instruction, didnt help with the labs, and didnt provide information on what to study for the tests. Tests were unclear. not helpful at all.
He is one of the best professor, I have taken class so far. You need to work hard to get better grade. His exams are usually harder. But he curves the grade. Will take his class again.
a lot of homework from the person, and the test using proctor so somebody watching you but all tests from the homework. the professor's quick response if you send him an email from the canvas.
Shah literally worst ever. His lectures very unorganized, put up things in the middle of the night on the weekend with a huge test on a monday, failed to follow any schedule he made. didn't put up quizzes then would stack 2 together and post on a sunday. I would never take a class from this guy. Communication horrible.
Great professor but these are difficult classes for many. Just pay attention and study often and you will pass with a high grade. If you do not take these classes seriously, you can fall behind and then you will begin to blame it on difficulty or other external sources. I have seen people fall behind and blame things like accent of professor.
Hes a great professor, make sure to watch lecture videos and do the homework and also study the lab portion. Do Not Slack!!!!!!
Wonderful teacher!
Difficult to understand what he was saying at times.
HORRIBLE! whatever you do not take him. he is hard to understand especially in lecture videos, assigns a ton of hmwk, and when you email to ask him questions he's so rude. he has no care for his students. he is the worst professor i've ever had. trust me do not take him. his lab exams are extremely hard as well. if i could rate him a 0 i would.
Took physiology hybrid/online. Exams are hard and make up 95% of your grade at 150 points each and a 200 point final, so STUDY. 3 exams, 1 final and a 12 min presentation at the end. There are 6 quizzes as well @ 15pt each. He will pick on people during lectures and ask questions, so pay attention. He adds points at the end of semester. 8%+ bump
The most accessible instructor I ever taken. He will respond to your email immediately. One time I got help through zoom 11:30 pm, I mean who does that? I will his class again. The only thing , he will make sure that you know the information he gives.
took his Bio 4 & 5 classes (in-person) and I do not regret taking him. He is a very forgiving professor and has curved every test. The material can be difficult but studying is something that is required if you want to do good in this class. You cannot expect to do good in this class if you don't study. He cares about his students!
I regret not taking this professor for anatomy. I would say to plan on studying 24/7 and take all his advice on how to study and prep for tests. Be prepared to have memorized the entire lecture before his next one; he enjoys it when people can answer his questions. He cares about his students if he sees they're trying their best.
Amazing professor. He actually cares for his student's futures and helps you do better. His lectures are very helpful and packed full of important information that's on the lecture exams.
He is very passionate about teaching and cares about you being successful. Be sure to show up to lectures and take good notes, as a lot of lecture material shows up on tests. I suggest reading his PowerPoints and taking notes before the lecture. He also explains Lab procedures very well too which makes it so much easier. Awesome professor overall.
He is a nice professor and he explains everything so good. I would recommend studying the diagrams because they will be on the labs. A lot of the stuff is group work.
Dr. Shah was an amazing professor. Make sure you show up to every lecture and take notes and practice active recall. Make sure to also take photos of any models in the lab to help you on the lab quiz's.
I don't normally rate professors but since I pick my classes off these ratings, I felt it was important to rate. He's very hard to understand, strong accent. YouTube video lectures with way too many ads. The videos are pre-recorded from past classes so he calls on students to answer questions and it's really annoying.
This professor was the worst. Makes you feel bad about yourself. He clearly has favorites and puts his students down. He doesn't respect that fact that students have other responsibilities outside of school. He once said to just focus on the class and if need leave your job. Don't take his class. Take someone else if possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrible professor, I'd advise ANY OTHER PROFESSOR over this one. Would nonstop call on the same students to make them feel bad, even if he knew they wouldn't know the answer. Also openly would critique students in front of the entire class. Grades super strictly, rough accent so lectures make it impossible as well.
Anatomy is a difficult class since there is tons to remember, but this prof is great. He explains everything and yes, he does have an accent, but it isn't too hard to understand. He is nice and he is really helpful in lab. His tests are straightforward and exactly as we learn. He curves the test grades.
Amazing class, but be prepared to set aside a lot of time for anatomy. Find a tutor or a good study partner/group because it helped me A LOT for this class to stay on top of everything. This was a fun class but just know you can't procrastinate or else you will have a hard time with the tests. There are more pop quizzes but only at the beginning.
Amazing professor. Tests come straight from a question bank—study it and you'll pass. Lab exams are simple if you show up and review the models. Super fair, organized, and wants students to succeed. One of the easiest and best-run anatomy classes out there.
Professor Shah is very knowledgeable and prepares students well for exams. He strongly recommends taking the TEAS workshop for extra credit, which is helpful. Exams are heavy, but if you study every day and listen to his lectures, you will do fine in exams. Labs are only three points, but very helpful.
