Professor Brand was by far one of the best professors I've had. She had a great method of teaching her class, by giving simple, understanding and straight to the point notes. She was always available when I had any questions.

She is a good professor, I had her for Freshman Comp I. She wants you to succeed. However, it is A LOT of work and there is an essay every week, plus the inclass essays, a 6-7 page Research Paper and she has you turn it in in peices. Most of her work is turned in via WebCT and meeting her deadlines are crucial in order for you to pass.

Professor Brand was a great teacher, kept us involved and made the class fun. You will do in class essays but you can bring an outline and notes, a group play and we went on a field trip to see a live play which was great. She is a great teacher take her..

If you're lazy, don't take her. I took her over the summer. There was a lot of writing: 5 esaays, 3 in-class essays, 1 debate (group project), 1 research paper (7-10 pages), 1 mock final exam, and a final exam. If you really want to learn how to write different types of essays and how to write a research paper, take her.

I toke her this summer on thursdays at 6 pm after working all day and I can honestly say that every class was interesting and even the readings that she assigned and the group project was not as bad as I thought it would be. Yes we had to write 5 essays but it was not that hard. She super cool and makes every topic interesting !!

Brand overall is a great English teacher, she has college level expectations for all of her students. She makes every class very interesting and isn't the typical English teacher because she tries to relate everything we do to everyday life. She is a realist and I love that about her. The class setting is cool and laid back and its not too much.

Professor Brand is the best English teacher ever! She loves what she does too. She says she's a hard grader, but I got a few 100's on her in-class essays. Just read for those quizzes which screwed me up. We had like a few quizzes, a research paper, 4 out of class essays and 2 in-class then a mock final and a final which were essays. Super easy!

Prof. Brand is the best. Class is fairly easy. There are quizzes that you tale after each story just to ensure that you read it. The quizzes are short and SIMPLE. Only 2 major papers and 3 in-class essays. Her class is lecture based but it is interesting because of our class discussions. Overall she is very helpful and a great professor. AWESOME!!

She is a great and clear professor as long as you pay attention and do the work, your gauranteed and A. She is clear and precise on what she wants on the essays, there are onlt TWO essays! the play project was easy and keep up witht he readings! the trick is to take notes and highlight the readingd becuase ur essays are based off the readings!

Such a great lady, so layed back and just a decent person. Just come to class and do the work and you can't fail. 2, 3 pg papers, 3 essay tests including the midterm and final covering a few short stories and a few plays, there is one group project writing and performing a play. Professor Brand is great. She's very nice and laid back. There are only 2 essays, (which are based off the stories read in class), a short quiz for each new story, 2 tests (short-answer questions based off the stories) and a group playwriting project. Extremely easy class as long as you do the work. I really enjoyed it.

The hw is to read the short stories. Then come in with a 4-6 question quiz. Super easy. There are 2 papers and they're about the stories you read. 1 group play to write. 2 test that are opinion based from the stories. The only problem is that the discussions suck. They're long and boring. But you get to go see a play for extra credit. Take her!

Just do the read of the stories and take the open book 3 exams in the class. Participate in the discussions about the stories in class. Oh and do not miss more than 2 classes. If you do these simple rules you will get a A!!! Prof Brand is very nice and helpful if you need or have questions about anything.

This class was very easy and fun. The only complain about this class is you have to write play with some classmates and present it at the end of the semester. I hate doing group work. It was just a waste of time. But if you want a easy A, she is the professor for you.

This was the easiest class I've ever had. There was only one paper and a few quizzes for readings that we had to do, and one big project. She explains everything clearly and is a fair grader. She is HILARIOUS and makes the class enjoyable. Favorite class ever, would take her again if I could.

I took Prof. Brand in the summer of 2016. She's nice and has a clear idea of she wants from students. Come to class and do your homework and you will be fine. She gave use 5 queues based on 5 reading essay. The queues were easy and if you have true or false question just put true because that what I did and got 27 out of 30. Taking 1102 with her.

Take her for a relatively easy A. I took her comp II multicultural literature class. Almost no homework, only one paper, and 4 easy quizzes based on really interesting readings. She's really engaging and caring, & wants to hear from students' perspectives & help us respect one another. Super interesting, makes every student EXCITED TO GO TO CLASS!

I've never enjoyed an English class so much! Brand is very open-minded & educated. The class I took focused on culture & gender, every story we read was very interesting. The papers were hard at a whopping 4 pages but there are only two. Other than that I have a 94 in the class with little effort.

I'm currently taking her class right now (summer 2017). She cancelled the final which is amazing. She is an easy class to have. She does require the textbook. We have read plays and short stories. We do take quizzes on the stories and plays. It is only 5 questions. We only have 2 research papers which are 3-5 pages longs. The exams are super easy.

Professor Brand is awesome. This class really challenged my writing skills which was awesome. I never wrote a research paper before with professor brand clear guidance everything was made easy. I got 99/100 yeah! Take her class if you want to become a great writer.

Very easy class, but you do actually learn. Professor Brand definitely engages the class in her lectures which was great. Unless you hate talking, the lectures are very interactive with her. She wont make you talk, but the lectures are a lot more interesting when you talk as she actually listens to the students views.

Dr. Brand is an amazing professor for someone starting out in college. She cares about her students, offers helpful advice for improving writing skills, and explains an effective writing process very clearly. Show up, do the work, meet the deadlines, and participate in your learning. You will do well in the class, and you will love her class!

She was good. In the beginning, I got high C low B's on all the essay's when I worked really hard. I ended up improving and got higher grades. She's really reliable, the only negative thing is that she takes points away on essays for really stupid things. But I ended up with an A in the class! Topics are easy and I picked her again for Comp 2.

Theres two essays and one project throughout the class. Obviously there is reading because it is an English class and theres a small quiz after each reading assignment. Her assignments are easy to understand and you know what is expected of you. Shes super sweet and caring, and her group discussions are great whether you participate or not.

Overall easy and good class. Her lectures are interesting and make the class go by quickly. Few essays, group project and 2 exams is the majority of your grade. Have small readings each week and a small easy quiz for each reading. I hate reading so i just watched the plays. Only downside is she takes awhile to put grades in.

Very amazing professor. She gives rubrics for all papers, and follows them to grade. She is very nice and understanding. She is available outside of class to help you with papers. All her papers in this class are narrative. I loved her so much I took her for ENC 1102 as well.

I took her for both 1101 and 1102. She is truly a great professor. You do read a little, but nothing extreme. Only 2 papers, 2 exams, and 5 question quizzes on reading. Love her so much. Would take her again if given the chance. Also, a chance for extra credit later in the semester. One semester long group project, but a fairly easy one.

Can not say enough good things about Professor Brand. She is an intelligent, kind, and funny prof. Most classes were spent talking about real situations that interested us. Got A on both exams, both papers, and final project. We read a bit but its interesting. Easy class with a great teacher. Final project is writing + performing own play w group.

Professor Brand is amazing. We only had to write 2 papers in mla, 2 test exams that is open book, and little quizzes after each reading. The quizzes were only 5 question. If you write your essay in advance, she will correct for you and give you back for you to fixe the mistakes. English is not my first language and I got 100 on my first essay.

She is so down to earth and genuine. The topics discussed are relevant to everyone. Class is never just her talking the whole time. She asks for feedback from her students and creates an environment that makes you feel safe to voice your opinion on things no matter how controversial. The semester lasts only a couple weeks, but you mature 10 years.

This classroom is your safe zone. It's such an open environment, you grow to relate and understand everyone in the class. A lot of class is discussing what was read or discussions within the topics. Prof Brand is extremely nice and understandable. I would take her every semester if I could. Such a cool class, her grading isn't harsh at all.

Super easy class. If you fail, its because you wanted to. You get 6 essays and 5 quiz which is very easy. She says you need textbooks but I didn't purchase because you don't need them for assignments. Definitely taking her next semester. Also, she doesn't accept late work.

Her lectures were insightful and educational. She is very educated on social issues and implements this in her class. Easy quizzes that you will pass if you do the weekly readings. Exams were easy and only two big papers to write. Attendance is totally mandatory.

AMAZING! I took her for Comp 1 & 2. Received A's in both. Not only does she grade easily, but she lectures well and makes you think about real life issues. She's probably the BEST English teacher you can take. If you read stories that are assigned (which are very short,) you will basically Ace the small quizes she does. There are also two papers (about 1,250 pages each) and two exams, which she grades extremely easily as well.

Easy A. Textbook is required but you can pass the class without it provided you have access to the readings. Lectures and discussions in class made you really think deep. Two papers but all about your thoughts, and exams are free-response. The best professor I have ever taken at Valencia. TAKE HER, you won't regret it.

I had her on campus but because of the rona we got switched to online. She made the switch easy, the assignments had clear instructions and were very easy to complete. Stay on top of your work and youll pass. Finished her class with a A. And you need the textbook

Professor Brand is the best English teacher you can take at Valencia. You can get an A, but she certainly makes you work for it and that is good. Textbook is required, but if you have access to the readings on the internet you wont really need the textbook. There are small quizzes for each reading. Exams and papers are based on your opinion.

great at keeping you up to date on assign. class is definitely manageable. She provides all reading material (3 short plays/3-4 short stories) that you use all term. Discussion post and quizzes weekly which consist of questions about the reading, not hard just keep up with the reading. She provides EC for attending zoom meetings & always reachable

Professor Brand is very nice. Even thought were online, we would have Zoom meetings every week (as EC) and she would prepare us for our assignments. The readings are pretty interesting! There are 2 papers and 2 written exams (which basically ask for your opinion on the readings). The workload isnt heavy and shes very understanding.

Great professor. I'm not good in writing and I got an A. Great lectures that make you think. Two essays and eight refection paragraphs, nothing complicated. Three videos which are part of the weekly discutients. Two exams . You will be given five questions for your exam. You must answer all five questions. you have 2h to answer.

Great professor only 2 papers and 2 exams plus weekly quizzes that are easy. The plays and poems we read were interesting a related to major topics like feminism etc. Great videos that explain the meaning and greater context of the readings. I would totally take her again and wished I had her for comp 1

By far my favorite English professor. She made this class super interesting and fun. Her zoom meetings (extra credit for each attendance) are informational and not boring at all. Her recorded lecture videos are very helpful as well. I would definitely choose her for any future English courses.

I love her class, she is really understanding, reply to email quickly, and gives you good feedback. going to the zoom for exam points is really important it will help your grade. you don't have to stay on the zoom call if you have work, just leave your CRN and leave the meeting, and you will still get your points. plus the class was interesting.

Professor Brand is a great professor cares about her students. I took her online, she gives 2 exams essay and 2 other essay is timing but easy 5 questions each. She is good on replies to her email. She also gives a lot of extra credit, but you have to attend her zoom lectures. I highly recommend her good luck.

Typically, you can expect to have a combination of: a passage to read, write a reflection, take a quiz, record a flip grid, and/or join a discussion. The class was not hard as long as you did your readings. Dr. Brand gives PLENTY of extra credit opportunities in the course. Easy going class but interesting class.

Dr. Brand's ENC 1102 was phenomenal, her reading materials were never boring, and you can relate them to today's time. She gave TONS of extra credits even though her class was already easy, you just have to do the assignments which are 70% opinion based questions/answers 30% cited, and turn them in on time. 10/10 would recommend her online class.

Professor Brand was AMAZING. Not only are her reading materials pertain to todays problems but she also incorporates your feelings and conversations that no one wants to talk about. Her assignments are minimal, short and straightforward, she gives you a clear layout of the rubric. The 2 exams and papers we had her easy. Exams are short answer too.

Professor Brand is wonderful. You only get two exams throughout the semester and there are only 5 or 6 writing questions about things you have already read. Regular work is just a reflection of what you read that week and a short quiz. She's very understanding and will let you redo writing assignments.

I wish I had taken Dr. Brand for ENC 1101. She's a wonderful professor, and the reading assignments and discussions that we had to complete were super interesting and intuitive. She always responded to emails in a timely manner and graded every assignment according to the rubric with excellent feedback. Take her, you won't regret it :)

If you can take her, take her. You get like 2 extra credit for attending a 30-40 minute zoom call every friday. The quizzes are 10 easy questions asking about the details of the text you've read that week. Reflection is about a paragraph long and also easy. The big exams are two papers, one research and one just a bigger reflection like before.

Take the class! Dr. brand has an easy quiz and reflection due almost every week. The two papers are an essay (4-5 pages) and reflection paper (2-3 pages). Half the semester is on plays and dramas, the other half is on multicultural literature. Engaging content and great professor.

Professor Brand is an outstanding professor! You read a few short plays and stories and do assignments that are worth 10 points each. There are two papers, research & narrative, that are worth 100 points each. She offers extra credit. I did not find her to be a tough grader. The only thing that I didn't like was you weren't allowed to work ahead.

I took this class online, amazing professor. Good reading selections. No test just 2 papers , 1 reflective paper and one based on literature. Given multiple topics to choose from. Weekly reflections and non proctored quizzes

My favorite prof of all time! Loved taking this class in person. She was so nice and she knew everyone's names. Her lectures honestly made me view the world differently. Her papers are easy and she lets you email your drafts so that she can help. Very few assignments. Make sure you read the weekly readings so that you can score well on the quizzes.

She is understanding after I made mistakes and I am thankful for it. The guidelines are easy to follow and understand to prepare the structure of the essay. Make sure you don't miss the deadline because there are no deduction points for late assignments. There are extra credits for Zoom meetings weekly. Tips! always lot asking her through Canvas.

The 2 plays we read are truly the most interesting reads I have had to in school. This is an amazing organized course everything is clear, everything is set up for us to succeed which I loved. The two plays were very interesting/fun reads, not much feedback other than "good" or "yes". I dont know if I was just expecting more or what, I can also say I never directly asked her for more feedback but overall she had a clear syllabus and clear grading. Weekly readings, weekly reflections only two papers over all.

Coursework was a quiz on the readings and a reflection every week. The assignments were managable she provides many resources in modules to aid on assignments. There were only two papers and she gives you plenty of time in advance to complete them. This was course easy to navigate and manage with a full schedule.

This class was super easy especially for an english class. One quiz (10 questions) and assignment per week. You only need to write one page but doing mla format takes about 1/3 of the page. Two essays which I received about a 90 on both and 3-5 pgs. Isn't super clear about why points were taken off but I won't complain bc it was only like 6 points.

The professor is nice and a fair grader. The course consists of weekly readings with an easy quiz due Thursday and a reflection paragraph due Sunday. There are also 2 papers, but they are not very long or complex (3-4 pages). Overall, an easy class and what you would expect from a composition class.

1-2 assignments a week, usually a quiz and a reflection, homework should only take around an hour for this class.

I personally loved her, her work and lectures were quite simple if you tried a little. She would often cancel or be late to class.

I liked this class a lot, but you have to read a decent amount to get a good grade. She is very straightforward with grading essays, and quizzes are fairly simple. I would take her again

Easiest eng class I've taken.2 papers: Argumentative and reflection.Papers and writing assignments can be turned late until the end of class.Easy grader.1-2 easy assignments per week.Bad part is you won't learn a lot from her class and she doesn't give good feedbacks.More like a sociology class IMO because of topics like woman, poverty, stereotype.

Awesome professor, work consists of 1 quiz, reading, and maybe one other assignment. I did maybe 2 or 3 essays and 1 research paper for the entire semester. Lectures consist of her going over the module. She is big on grammar and punctuation, but nothing out of the ordinary. She will give extensions if needed. I took mix mode, would def recommend!!

This was my first ever professor and i'm glad to say that she was amazing. She would always give amazing feedback for all the assignments. If you ever did anything wrong she would give you multiple chances to fix it before it became your final grade. She was very understanding about everything. Overall an easy class and very good professor.

Prof Brand was a joy to learn from. Her videos made the lessons easy to understand and the material was quite interesting. Loved the poems and plays. Lots of discussion activities but a breeze if you like to write and she's available answer your Qs if you need help with any particular writing.
