She is extremely dramatic about telling her family's story that no one in class seems to care about. It's hard to try to copy notes and try to listen to her at the same time. She gave me a zero for not doing homework one time even though the homework itself said "no due date" on the computer. She argues that she announce that it was due in class
I took her in the past and for the mini mester and she's the best! She is super funny and relates all comcepts to real life situations, so it sticks with you. She is also the tutor and will help you with anything. She isnt the easiest but she is very good, attendance is mandatory. There's no hmwk just in class quizes. She loves her diet cokes!
Ms. Simpson is the best accounting teacher that i could have taken. All i had heard is that accounting was going to kill me and she made it so easy to learn. I picked up on it quick and i knew if i ever had a question i could just ask her. Attendence is crutial, she finds ways to make the data atay with you! Im so glad i got put in her class.
Her class was semi-hard. Tests ranged from being kinda easy to semihard. My class had no hw, and most of the quiz grades I had were attendance quiz grades. If you just study the notes and come to class, you should be able to comfortably get a B. Her final was comprehensive and mostly previous test questions. If I could, I'd probably take her again.
I didn't even know what accounting was before I came into this class. Her first test was hard but once I got used to doing the optional homework and studying before the tests they were ok. I got an A even though I had an 87. She really is a good teacher if you put the effort in.
Maaaaan!!!! this instructor does not care at all. She keeps talking about her family too much. I pass with a "C" cuz I have to study really hard for it. Her class is hard because she makes it hard. You can only miss 6 ques. on test for a "C" and one for the quiz. Don't take her ruuuuuuuuuuuuun!!!!!!.
Took in Summer 4wk online course. Content very difficult but doable if you study and completed the required homework. She lays it all out well. The textbook is useful and she provides great audio powerpoint presentations with optional notes pages to keep you on track. Class hard - but as a professor?gives you great tools to get it done.
I took this class on-line and I am very glad i did, the professor is Very RUDE! I can deal with this online but not in person. This teacher has no interest in her students. I wrote her many e-mails with questions/concerns and she was very rude with responses. If you can take the class and work pretty much on your own then do it, it isn't that hard.
I took this online and I would recommend taking Managerial Accounting in person. The homework and quzzies are easy. She is good at providing tools and powerpoint instructions. Her exams are quite difficult and most will relate to the lessons covered.
Very good overall teacher. Her teaching is clear and she is always willing to help. I highly recommend taking her class.
She is a great teacher. Accounting is hard but she makes it understandable. Always willing to help with any questions. I would recommend her!!!
Jaye Simpson is one of the toughest instructors I've had but also the most educated and knowing in regards to what she teaches. You can tell she loves what she does and teaching is her goal. She uses the book a lot and does powerpoint for notes. I took her for both accounting classes and I HIGHLY recommend her if you really want to learn.
PERFECT TEACHER. RECOMMEND TO TAKE HER CLASS. EASY A.
She took over the class half way. Picked up nicely. Her explanations were understandable, she knows Accounting. Great class, good teacher. Must study for test but still I ended class with an A :)
Prof. Simpson was awesome! She has a clear guideline on what she expects from the beginning and it is up to you to complete it. We had weekly assignments followed by quizzes and 3 test with an optional comprehensive final. I still managed a high B. All in all she was great. Answered all questions within hours and was very clear! Take her!
Took it online, answers to the mandatory questions were not too clear, but good teacher, takes time to reply. Hard class. The PPT are very helpful, homeworks helps a lot too.
Professor Simpson made Accounting extremely clear. As long as you take the notes and use the study plan, you can pass her exams. I had no interest in Accounting and she made it seem simple.
Seriously an awesome instructor. Its difficult subject matter but if you do everything you're supposed to (read, hwk, quizzes, & read x 3,000) you'll get it. It should be a 4 hour course for all the studying you have to put into it. Her PPts are informative, she has lecture in them. Do a portion of your hwk all wk because it takes hrs to finish.
Great accounting class for online, homework and quizzes come from the book and there are narrated powerpoints that also come in handy. You know what to expect week to week, homework and quiz and a test after about 4 chapters. Took for spring and was afraid of college math and made an A. Would recommend!!
Very structured and predictable course. Homework and tests were never a surprise or any different format than prior weeks. The material is not easy for everyone, however I intend on majoring in accounting so I paid very close attention and had a high interest in the course. Online made it easy to refer to the text when having issues.
Took her online. Very structured and predictable course. Homework and tests were never a surprise or any different format than prior weeks. The material is not easy for everyone but she provides pp presentation that are helpful and she response to email in a timely order. She drops the lowest exam and two of your lowest quizzies.
This instructor is the best. I HATE accounting, with a passion. I took it 2 times before I took this one and the instructors were AWFUL. This one is amazing; they make it very clear on what the students have to do and helps them along the way. It's a hard class, no doubt about that, but if you put in the time, you'll be able to pass.
I took this class online over the summer. In my opinion, this professor is neither bad nor is she great. I felt the online program pretty much taught itself. I did feel the professor's interaction with the class lessened beginning mid-semester. I don't care for the discussion board method requiring 2 questions and 2 replies; not much discussion.
Ms. Simpson is great! There are 3 exams, homework on every chapter and a short quiz on almost every chapter. However, she is very clear and explains everything. I love her and would take her again!
Online homework and in class quiz for almost every chapter. In class activities for participation grade. Very engaging, not a boring class. She has her narrated powerpoints and fill in the blanks notes posted online. She makes it pretty easy to understand. Will be taking her again for Managerial Accting.
Online summer class was not bad at all. I ended up putting little effort in and making a B. Unfortunately I wasn't able to read the chapters but I just did the HW & quiz for each, the 2 DB postings & 2 responses. In total there are 12 Quiz/HW grades (2 lowest grades of each drop), 3 exams and optional comprehensive exam, and the 2 DB posting.
I took this class as an online class, and be prepared to do a lot of work. Thankfully the way MyAccounting Lab is laid out, it makes it very easy to learn the material. You must take time to read the book and do the work. She's very responsive to emails and super nice! Do the work and you'll do well.
The homework and quizzes are hard. Alot of work and doing it online is extremely difficult. I recommend finding a teacher who is easier if taking it online.
THis teacher was awful the homework had nothing to do with the quiz and same for the tests. This class is impossible and the majority of students agree in the discussion boards.
Not one to do reviews but I was not a big fan of Simpson. I'm currently in her blended course & in class when doing assignments in groups, she will come around & if you make one little mistake, she will call you out on it. This course was basically self-taught even though it is blended. Save yourself. She's not as good as people make her to be.
Do not take her! She give a lot of homework and it's extremely hard. Test are hard, too many homework and quizzes. I didn't get to take a break at all. I was constantly having to do homework and quizzes. This class was just awful. No extra credit either.
I took this online so there was not a lot of interaction with the teacher. Grades posted quickly. Each week is a homework assignment and a quiz. Three exams cover the previous chapters and one overall exam can take the place of a lesser exam grade, if needed. You do have to post two discussion board questions and answer two from other students.
You have homework that's due in a week or so that you do online. You have a quiz after every chapter which is multiple choice. As long as you review the quick quiz at the end of each chapter you should be good. She lets you have a full sheet front and back cheat sheet for the each exams. I enjoyed her class so much I changed my major to accounting!
Very diffucult to work with. Stuck on deadlines, like a broken record, VERY inflexible. Refuses to accept assignments, even if you had Computer or internet trouble. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND HER TO ANY STUDENT. PLEASE TAKE SONEONE ELSE.
You should pay attention and go through the power point lectures to do well in the homework. I enjoyed her as a professor. I knew almost nothing about accounting, learned a lot and was able to get a good grade because she had great lectures and teaches you the subject step by step and will answer any questions you have.
Prof. Simpson had very organized power point lectures where she voiced-over with her own voice the lectures. It was helpful! She was very active on the discussion board helping people decipher all things Accounting 2301. Online code required which doubles the cost of the class, but this prof is worth it.
She was sweet and funny but definitely didnt have helpful lectures. The homework didnt really help on the exams. The only good thing is that she gives and extra credit exam which can be a big help at the end of the year
Took for for Financial Accounting. Each time we finish a lesson, we have homework that is due the next day. She posts reviews on blackboard and there's an optional comprehensive final if you're not happy with the grade. She knows the subject well so anyone who wants to learn should take her. If not, probably not a good choice if you're lazy.
Professor Simpson is a good teacher that knows her material. It is important to attend class and take notes, but the most helpful thing is the doing the homework. Tests are difficult and studying is a must, however I'm taking her again for ACCT 2302 because I like her structure of things.
She is not good at explaining anything. Talks to fast and the HW has stuff on it that we have not talked about. Take a few hours to complete the hw sometimes because we didnt cover certain items. Terrible Professor, alright person.
Downside is she was gone way too many times this semester. Couldn't cover all the material and expects us to be tested on it.
Mrs. Simpson is a unique personality. Her class was not too difficult, as you have assignments on MyAccountingLab due every week. the course does go very fast and you have to pay attention to the lectures if you want to succeed in her class. She does allow cheat sheets on the exams which really help. This is definitely not a blow off class.
I recommend her for any accounting exam. She is very detailed oriented and encourages partciaption in class to know we read the book and listen carefully. She does help during office hours but don't just merely ask to get the answer for questions. Make sure you really know how to ask for the help so you can pass. Takes effort.
There's lots of material she's required to cover (it's not her fault) so if you miss class, you will be lost. Accounting is tough but she's an excellent teacher with high energy. She used myAccountingLab (TCCplus, so it's included) and it was really helpful to learn. HW is assigned every class and she allows a cheat sheet on every test (final too).
Show up, pay attention, take notes, do the work, and you'll do well. Took her for both accounting classes and by the end I was starting to enjoy it! If you put the effort in she'll put the effort in and help you pass. The first accounting class is a lot of material to cover, but exams were good and we had an optional cumulative at the end.
I had to drop Simpson's class because the whole thing is basically self-taught and became increasingly stressful. The MyAccountingLab program is a crutch and this professor fully relies on it. If you feel like teaching yourself accounting, go ahead and take Simpson. A poorly written textbook is your only resource.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Her reviews have a lot of material on it and since there is so much material on the review 1/4 of the information is on the test and she gives out a lot of homework.
She posted reviews for exams and I studied based on those reviews. The reviews don't match. Some questions are hard and never heard of those info in the lectures. I trusted the good reviews and now Idk If I would pass her class or not. Too much work and stress.
She was very organized and had every lesson put on blackboard with a calendar of due dates. Answered emails and questions quickly. She was very good at lectures; however, the exams had material on it that was not covered in the lectures nor the homework.
Very unprofessional and rude. Unwilling to be accommodating during pandemic.
Literally the worst professor I've taken. I've never had so much anxiety to just enter a classroom. So condescending to students who don't understand and doesn't offer help either. The tests do not correlate to the homework or in class problems, so studying is pointless. DO NOT take this teacher.
Ms. Simpson was fantastic! Even for an online class, replies to emails quickly and makes sure you understand the material, always communicating and her intro/how-to videos are amazing! ACNT-1313
Teacher does not respond back at all to questions on emails. She is never in class during schedules class times. To much work expected to be done. Hard to have to teach yourself. What’s the point in having a teacher.
I took Jaye Simpson for my fundamentals of accounting class at TCU. She was knowledgeable on accounting and was decent at explaining the material. However, if you want to really understand the information you will have to meet with her during office hours and review it. Lecture heavy and speaks fast at times. It is doable...but not as easy A.
Teacher is no help, everything is online which makes it harder. Take it at your own risk, because you will struggle with out a doubt.
Miss Simpson does a very good job keeping the class interesting and fun. She is a great professor and I would take her again.
She's awesome, but the assignments are difficult if you don't have a Finance background. I did great on assignments, but not that great on tests. You have to take lots of notes and pay attention. NO distractions during lectures. You have to study. I would recommend her because she does work with you.
Jaye is very unprofessional and rude/condescending to her students (publicly or privately). I have never had such a level of upset and anxiety in all my life. Wow! She is not prepared to handle or care for students who need her assistance with resources. If you don't have the laptop you need, she basically squeezes you to drop her class. Awful!
10-week Excel course. Learned a lot of tips and tricks for Excel 2019. Lots of homework, capstones, quizzes, and tests. Simple if you do the Practice A and Practice B like she says. Easy A! Professor was helpful as well.
This class is pretty easy if you just show up and listen at least a little. Take notes it helps. Cheat sheets on exams so they are pretty easy. One downside is that there's a lot of homework for this class but she drops the lowest 4 of those so it's not too bad. If that's not a issue it's a solid course to take pretty easy.
She knows accounting and speaks like she is reading words from the textbook, so I appreciate how knowledgeable she was. However, when speaking with her, she comes off very condescending. Honestly quite rude, so try to stay on her good side. A relationship with her felt very transactional (kind of like accounting). Do not expect an easy A.
very rude, get's a attiude when you ask for help, very sarcastic in a degrading way. show's no concern for students acadimic success
In all of my years of college, I have yet to come across a professor who has shown so little regard for the success of her students. Even with a string of emails requesting assistance, the only response you will ever get is to "review the previous information," as if we hadn't done so prior to sending an email. STAY CLEAR OF THIS PROFESSOR.
Never in all my life have I had such little help. she is incredibly rude and condescending, And not only that - she has gone on a conference during the week of our biggest project of the semester, is completely unavailable, and won't be available again until the day it's due. As if you can ever get in touch with her in a helpful way.
Took this professor for ACCT 2301 and ACCT 2302 and I'm glad I did. Homework and material is easy and usualy isn't time consuming. Tests were difficult but fairly simple. Professor was extremely helpful and is very clear about how and when she can help in and outside of class.
Professor Simpson is by far the worst professor I have taken at tcc. She gives lectures in videos that were recorded long ago and explains that topic to a bare minimum Offers no way to make up for the grade nor does she really offer any extra credit. can't save your grade with the assignments, did 15 with perfect scores and my grade didnt budge.
Horrible. AVOID!! I downloaded the course materials from Pearson and submitted the assignments on time. The very first week of class she give me 3 zeros, turned me into the Vice President for Student Development Services for CHEATING with no notice, outreach, or explanation. Now I have to go through the "Student Conduct Process" and fight my case.
Horrible Karen instructor that gives students zeros for no reason!
Commits academic ABUSE against students
Academic terrorist
Academic arsonist
Evil psycho hate students
If there ever was a evil Jezebel instructor it's her!
There's more Karen in this instructor than Outback after church on Sunday. Super colossal karen. Reports you based on false and flimsy allegations. Refuses to listen.
Big Ed gangster. Paging DOGE. Avoid
This instructor, a Super Karen, automatically thinks everyone is cheating. What the point of teaching a class if you think everyone is cheating? What's the point of taking a class if you're going to be automatically accused of cheating, reported, and given zeros. There is no point. She shouldn't be teaching and student shouldn't be taking her.
She is a hateful instructor that discriminates against students with an extreme animus. She wasted no time. The first week of the semester, the first assignment, she did what she's done before and continues to do with impunity, because she has been shielded by the school administration from accountability. The Feds & State needs to investigate.
Professor Simpson is a fantastic professor. If you genuinely want to learn accounting, I swear by her, print out your sheets, do your cheat sheet, and finish your homework. She will NOT coddle you but will constructively explain your mistakes, She has effectively taught me a lot in a very short time.
Amazing professor will help to make sure you understand the content Overall one of my favorite professors I've ever had
Took this teacher for ACCT-2301 and 2302 and had an amazing time in both classes. She makes note outlines so you can spend more of the time in class listening to the lecture. Made every topic easy to understand, and if I didn't she would respond to my emails within the same hour of me sending them. Could not recommend a teacher more.
Took this professor for ACCT 2301 and 2302 along with ACNT 1313, enjoyed her lectures in person and the work online for 1313 was very straightforward, does videos over all of them to help you go through it but it is possible to get a B on your own if you are pretty knowledgeable with excel or Microsoft in general, would recommend always.
Her course is very easy to understand as long as you do the textbook practices first then the homework. She gives you unlimited amount of tries for homework until you get 100. I would definitley take her course again.
Mrs. Simpson is the BEST. Print out the notes and follow along. Don't wait till the last minute. She gives you all you need to succeed: cheat sheet in exam, unlimited attempt for homework, and lecture videos. I regret letting the bad reviews here, stop me from taking Acct1 with her. I hated accounting before but she changed my perspective.
