great teacher but not easy, got a B
Great person. Willing to go the extra mile to make you smarter! Worth the time.
she isnt really clear on her lectures and expects you to copy word for word on her slides that she brings to class but there are too many so its hard to keep up with the class and her
She's all about trying to help you get to where you want to go in life. Tests are difficult. Extra credit is crucial if you want a secure A. You'll learn a lot. Read the book and take notes.
good teacher. really funny. tests are super hard. you have to teach yourself a lot of the time, especially end of semester. guest speakers are awesome!! this was one of my fave classes.
She knows her stuff, but she talks so fast it is very difficult to keep up, also the testes are super hard unless you know EVERYTHING in the book and in notes and everything else
She's helpful but her class is super hard. She's also serious about deadlines--no exceptions.
I took both psych 260 and human sexuality from her, and both classes were phenomenal. She has been by far the most knowledgable and helpful teacher I have come across in college. Human Sexuality is SO interesting- she brings in cool guest speakers.
Fairly clear when lecturing, but talks very fast. Class is pretty straight forward--just go to class, take good notes, and read the chapter and you should do fine. B or better as long as you take notes in class and read. ALso offers extra credit.
very knowledgable yet very poor teaching skills, she changed intro course into few chapters in deepth one, she helps outside the class not in, lectures're stressful-too much info given too fast, no time for clearification, tests're hard, questions mislead
intersting class, learned alot, guest speakers were interesting, hard tests, but liked the class overall, got an A by going to class and taking notes
Very knowledgeable, cares a lot about students' success

the class material is so hard, you need to be very dedicated to pass the class, but she is such an amazing teacher. She will bendover backwords to help and its just a lot of material, quickly, but she is definetly the teacher to take for this material.
She is open minded and knowledgeable but I just think she is kind of mean.
I don't know what other people were taking this class with her for, but she was horrible. She never tested us on what she said she would, her notes were not helpful and she was very rude. On average more than half of the class received a C or worse.
Not a very fun class. She knows her stuff but it gets really tough to keep going to class. Quizzes are pretty easy, but research project requires a lot of time and effort. Can't get by with just minimal effort.
This woman is rude! Unless you are in her Psi Beta group don't expect to receive any help or courtesy. Exams are impossible and she letures on new material right before an exam! Talks fast, doesn't like to explain, gets annoyed with too many questions
I think all the comments on this teacher being rude are absolutely true. I spoke to her out of class and she acted like I wasn't even one of her students. Her notes are all over the place, and the material is more condensed than a five week class.
She is a wonderful teacher. Those of you who rate her so low, do so because you cannot get an easy A. This IS a tough course, irrespective of who is teaching it. Whiners! She will bend over backwards to help anyone who asks!
She teaches difficult courses but is very clear about what she expects and tests are simple if you study. Projects are difficult, but she goes out of her way to help students who are willing to work hard.
Unless you know everything about physio psyc, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. Her exams are extremely vague. The review sessions do not help. You are not allowed to review exam material after it is graded unless you make an appt w/ her, so she can say you're wrong
I thought she was a wonderful teacher. If you needed help with exam she ALWAYS has an open door. I wasn't even in Psi Beta. I think she is awesome and taking her for more classes!!!
Jaye is an extremely sweet lady who is willing to help ANYONE who asks.Anyone who said she was rude didnt take the time to talk to her. It IS a tough class so do not expect an easy A.Good work pays off..and ull leave the class knowing so much!
She is right to the point, she doesnt seem that rude, but she doesnt really laugh or have very much fun. The class topics are the intresting part, but she's ok. I dont dislike/like her.. shes ok.
although she teaches on interesting topics and has interesting guest speakers, she is very broad when it comes to a topic. she'll tell you what to study for on the test, but often times, the info. won't even be on the test. i pay attention and study but still don't have a good grade. not recommended
the topic in this class are interesting. the tests are vague and contain some unexpected material. sometimes she doesn't lecture on chapters on the test.
scantron test. need I say more...shes only interested in giving grades. not whether you actually know the material. as far as talking to her, she talks very fast and pretty much blew me off when I talked to her on the phone. never missed a class and studied a lot. was not impressed with her style.
Good class, just a little tough. Her tests are scantron, but a bit confusing. Tests are on book, and lecture so you'll have to read. Shes not that bad of a lady and is willing to have dedicate time to helping out her students.
jaye is the best teacher ive ever had.these people were just lazy.if u seek help from her shell always help you.she gives opportunities no other professor gives.she wants the student to show they are interested in the subject.youll leave her class knowing so much!its the most rewarding experience
I thought Jaye was an excellent teacher. She discusses interesting topics, and has fun with her lectures. She has a really cute giggle. I recommend Jaye for Human Sexuality!
BY FAR IS THE WORST TEACHER, rude, plain mean, absolutely unhelpful. Everyone in my study group just absolutely hated her. She is very unclear. AVOID HER LIKE A PLAGUE. Tests are not hard, but her demands as far as project and paper go are ridiculous. I hate psyc. research from now on because of HER
Very unhelpful and lacks understanding of busy college life.
I don't know how she teaches human sexuality but psych. research class was just horrible. She needs to do research, not teach. Those that are positive references about her must be written by her or her relatives. I got a good grade so it's not that I am bitter because of it. She is an ugly person.
Ugly, unhelpful, rudest, so unclear, plain mean, talks down to everyone. I studied hard, got a B, but did not learn much but though that lost many nerve cells during the semester because of her.
SHE HAS THE MOST ANNOYING VOICE EVER, VERY BORING LECTURES, and I DID NOT LEARN ANYTHING, although I got an A! SHE IS EXTREMELY UNAPPROACHABLE, unfriendly, I think she hates teaching and hates students, and it shows! I think she is very unhappy in life though, thats why I actually feel sorry for her
Why does everyone feel this way? I'm enrolled in her class at this moment and I've spoken to her several times; she has always been nothing but nice to me. Her tests are fairly easy; yet I am not sure about the upcoming project.I assume she grades hard, but this is a university level class people!
From the rating I see, It seems as though she may be biased torwards some students, because she does not seem as mean as the ratings state. Maybe all the years of experimental research, knowledge and studying she has done allows her to see through people. Ever thought of that?
Professor Jaye is demanding but its only for students own good. I took her Physiological Psych class and learned alot. Make sure you read before coming to lecture that way you understand the content of the lecture. I enjoyed this class. Get to know professor Van Kirk, shes there for you just ask.
States her expectations from the start. Her exams requires hours of studying. Read the text before she begins her lectures and you will do well. :D
don't take her if you know whats good for you. she totally blows off all her students.
She's fair, the material is tough. She gives numerous extra credit assignments and is willing to help if you are sincere. She sat down with me and helped me figure out what my weak spots were and my scores improved from there in her class and others too.
good course if you're interested in research, otherwise don't take. lot of effort, but a good prep to actual research.
Class was hard, but just read and put an effort into studying and you will be okay. Class can be boring if you don't like psych topics. If asked, she will tell you what type of questions will be on test. Ask questions, you won't regret it.
I wrote a nice rating about her in the beginning of the semester and now I regret it. She talks about seeing things from an “objective” point of view but it is all bull. She will judge you just like everyone else. If you can, try to avoid being in a group with someone who is a member of Psi Beta, she will show favoritism!
I want to write a formal complain about this teacher to the dean, if anyone is interested please let me know by adding a rating where you say so, and I will give you my email. Also, you can click next to my rating and contact me if you are a member of this website. Let’s boot her out!!!
i thought i did C work..and surprised myself with a B! but her tests are hard!!! study for them and read through the book. The class brings up interesting topics and there are some great guest speakers. Jaye teaches very lecture style so take good notes and then read from the book.
Do not take this teacher, tests are really hard, very in-depth and confusing. Beware of this teacher. She gave me a D in the class. I had to do it over in the summer and got an A, so that just says how bad of a teacher she is. She says that the class average is a C or less. Which is true.
This class is not easy. Jaye teaches class expecting her students to work hard and read the book. So do so. She teches many other classes so if you need to speak with her then visit her during her office hours. Shes nice so make an effort. You learn alot from this class. JOIN PSI_BETA! :)
I think she is a great teacher and I really enjoyed her class and learned a lot. Put some time in and you will do fine. Use the practice tests on the CDROM and read the chapters...she will pull test questions directly from them. Good luck and have fun1
Her lectures had nothing to do with the tests. She's narrow minded and biased. She couldn't keep up with her lectures and occasionally finished them 5 mins before the test. I had a death in the family and she wouldn't let me turn in a paper one class late. DO NOT RECCOMEND HER!
Definately tries to challenge her students. You cannot just rely on lectures for tests. However, she is always availiable for help when neded.
She is a very good teacher. She always initiated class discussions and never made anyone feel bad for asking a question. The homework was fairly easy and as long as you did the reading, you can easily pass her tests. She is very helpful and was more tha
Tough class, but I learned a lot about the topic and myself. Jaye is great at guiding you to find your potential in learning, psychology, and life. As a member of Psi Beta I can tesitify, she grades us as hard as anyone else. Ultimately, if you don't plan to apply yourself this is not the class for you. If you are struggling she will help you out
I truly enjoyed this class. It was by far the toughest class I've taken at Mesa. If you want an easy A, this class is not for you. If you like a challenge, Jaye is great. She genuinely wants to see her students succeed and encourages them along the way. P.S. I am NOT in Psi Beta. She was fair to everyone.
I took this class as a prep for my major and while I DID enjoy it, I didn't agree with the grade I got. My group had gotten shuffled around which wasn't any of our faults, and the class then went down to a very small number of people..I got a D which is pathetic, especially seeing all the work I did for this class! She's a hard grader, be prepared!
She challenges her students. Make sure that you keep up with the readings and do all of the extra credit that she offers. For the test, study the study guides. She expects you to know alot of material. So study hard and you should do well. Oh and she takes attendance every morning! If you have too many absences you may be dropped.
If you like a challenge, this is the class for you. She's a good teacher and one of the few that can keep my attention for the whole class time. Study the textbook carefully though and use the lecture notes as a guideline when going through it. Overall it was a good class to be in :)
good teacher! Very helpful
This teacher catches you from the first lecture and makes you believe she is fair and good. Fast forward near the end of the semester and her attitude has changed 180 degrees. She is biased if you are not in with Psi Beta and will not listen to you if you have a complaint if someone else already talked about you. She is one of the most unethical
My advice would be to do all the extra credit, keep up with reading, and make a lot of flash cards. Professor Van Kirk did not curve anything and there were only about 330 points available in the semester. Attendance is mandatory. My biggest issue with her was that she lectured for a half hour on test days. If you get an A, you have have earned it!
I disagree that she is biased against non Psi Beta students and I thought the quizzes were easy, but I do not like her teaching style. She did not return important emails she admitted to reading, she grades extremely harsh, tells you what was wrong with your project but will not help you to fix it. I do not recommend her at all.
I learned a lot of interesting things, however, what was a bummer was that she doesn't even cover all of the test material prior to midterms... at least not to an efficient level. Her study guides contain random things and doesn't clarify what to know on the topic. Cool guest speakers, and lots of extra credit.
She is Crazy. Her Psyc Research Methods class will kill your spirits and make you want to cry. She grades harsh, isn't helpful, and is ridiculously harsh. But, if you can survive the class you will be rewarded with invaluable skills and experience. If you are pursuing a job in the psyc field, then tough out this class! You won't regret it.
This class s very difficult. She demands a lot from her students. This class is not a cake walk it will challenge you in every aspect. Attendance is mandatory, she'll drop you if you miss more than 2 days. Exams are very very difficult. READ the book. DO the study guide!!
Don't take this class if you don't need it. For the past 4 semesters I have had straight A's and one C. This class was my C. She makes the class a lot harder than it needs to be and doesn't make it fun at all. She is very biased and picks favorites. I expected this to be a fun "food for thought" class and instead it screwed up my GPA.
Horrible teacher. Very hard. Doesnt answer emails. Won't tell you about your grade or progress in class even if you ask. Join psi-beta to get a passing grade! If you dont have to take this class DO NOT TAKE IT! This class will destroy your GPA.
she is not tough at all.she covers most everything, but you must read the book in order to pass the tests.hands out alot of extra credit ops,and does not grade hard.very good and interesting class
Absolutely amazing teacher, hands down the best I've had! I took her human sexuality class and the physiological psychology as well. Let me tell you, they're very interesting but very difficult. You MUST read the chapters to pass the tests. She gives loads of extra credit opportunities and they all tend to be as interesting as her class. There are a number of guest speakers in the sex class, all phenomenal individuals. I can definitely say it's been a life-altering experience.
This class was AMAZING!! if deciding whether or not to take it...TAKE IT! this teacher was very informative and sometimes awkwardly funny. Overall, i would recommend her!The class was VERY INTERESTING and i was never bored in class or reading the textbook!!! you definitelyyyyy need the textbook, and if you read it and do practice quiz its easy!
Great teacher, but the tests have nothing to do with what you talk about or learn in class. You have to do the reading in the book on your own if you wanna do well.
I won't say that she was the worst teacher ever. I will say that her teaching methods did not work for me. Very hard to keep focused as she talks a mile a minute. Your grade is based on 4 tests and 2 homework assignments. Tests are hard and subject is very complex. DON'T TAKE unless you have taken Biology or physiology or else you will be lost!
This class was a nightmare! constantly had to write essays every week, the tests were hard, and not very understanding or helpful to students. you would think sexual behavior would be an interesting class, but it was terrible!
Don't listen to people who say she's terrible. Yes the class is difficult but its college. Her lectures are highly interesting&she encourages class discussions which made the class really fun. She IS awkwardly funny&unclear on what to focus on for the tests. She has tests every few weeks&gives a study guide but you definitely need to read the book!
Nice person, strict teacher. Follow the syllabus for the quiz dates because she won't remind you. If you want to pass the quizzes, read the book. Also, get as much interaction with her as possible for the research project, particularly for the group paper. She wants you to find the answers yourself. Tough class, but not impossible.
best teacher ive ever had.very clear, very unbiased, and sweet.she expects the best from her students but every teacher should.
Jaye is a great professor. She's very passionate. She supplements lectures with current research. Lots of EC opportunities. One of her greatest qualities is her inspirational message to us-she consistently tells her students that they are the future scientists and that we can make a difference. Tests aren't hard. Fun project. Take her class!
GREAT CLASS! REALLY GOOD DISCUSSIONS. TAKE IT, IT WILL CHANGE HOW YOU THINK
I really enjoyed this class. The discussions are always interesting and fun to engage in. The tests are on the hard side, so definitely read & study the textbook. There are some great guest speakers, & the lectures aren't too bad either. You learn a lot in this class.
Not a good teacher. Very hard. Doesnt answer emails. Won't tell you about your grade or progress in class even if you ask. Join psi-beta to get a passing grade! If you dont have to take this class DO NOT TAKE IT! This class will lower your GPA.
Subjective grading methods despite claims of objectivity. Loses papers, scatterbrained, inconsistent, contradicting feedback on papers, procrastinates, I could go on but the bottom line is if you have to take this class for a UCLA or Nursing requirement I would go to CITY.I took hers cause i didn't want to drive to City and it was a terrible choice
Really interesting class. She is pro Psi Beta so if you want to get on her good side, join the club. Her tests are hard, but if you go to class and use the study guide you'll pass. If you're a slacker this class is not for you! :)
Don't take her class if you don't have to. Poor communicator and poorly organized. Never mentions when anything is due or when exams are, you have to scour through emails just to find a due date. She also gives tests on material she hasn't even lectured on. If you don't like stress for no reason, don't take her class.
Jaye is a strict professor who expects a lot out of her students, however she is not rude nor unhelpful. I am not in Psi Beta and got an A in her class. The point of reading the text is to learn details that the lecture didn't cover. She can be disorganized but always taught very passionately. Prepare to work hard, she teaches at university level.
A great prof. though she can be a bit unorganized at times. She's very engaging and knowledgeable in the topic of human sexuality and is very non-judgmental and creates a comfortable environment. The textbook is recommended because certain facts from the book will be asked on the tests. Completing the course will make you a sex ambassador!
Van Kirk is very smart and knows the subject so well but she is the WORST professor ever. She's horrible and speeds through her power points. And she isn't friendly at all. She never responds to emails and she is very picky when it comes to the assignments that you will easily lose a few points for a simple mistake. Don't take her for Psych 260.
I found that if you take notes, fill out the study guide, and actually study, you should at least get a B. However, I would do all the extra credit opportunities. 4 tests (not cumulative), 1 or 2 independent small assignments, and 1 group project which is a brochure. All in all, she is smart and I learned from this class.
Excellent professor. Do the reading, and you will NOT be surprised by the material on exams. She is clear, informative, and available during office hours. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
horrible teacher! the powerpoints are useless actually she doesn't even provide them for students, she is very disorganized. Don't know what the heck she is doing. DONT TAKE THE CLASS!!!
Great class discussions, passionate about psych, class is very interesting. Her PP's are useless and its hard to take notes in class cause she is a little unorganized. Must read the book + use study guide. Tests are hard. DO EVERY EXTRA CREDIT ASSIGNMENT, it really helps, they're easy and help you study the material. Work hard and have fun.
This professor is brilliant! she knows a great deal about what she teaches and makes the class very interesting. I had taken this class with another teacher and had to drop it. The material is hard, so don't hate the teacher for it. a bit disorganized, but overall amazing in teaching. loved her lectures. do all the extra credits! you'll need them!
Seriously disorganized and unclear. Explains things that don't need to be explained, doesn't explain things that do. Boring lectures (can you call them lectures when one hour out of the hour and a half class is wasted?) Won't remind when assignments are due but needs reminding of things herself.
This class is hard, period. Lectures aren't 100% related to exams. Take all the extra credit you can get. Prides herself in not ever giving any A's in her class. Seems like you have to be a A student to even understand her class. UGH!
After reading her reviews, I dreaded taking her class. She was 10x better than her reviews. She IS disorganized sometimes, but she's very knowledgeable, tries to make it fun, has a variety of assignments, decent lectures, creates opportunity for discussion, and is encouraging. She's not super warm but she makes up for it in other areas.
Tough grader. Not specific about what's expected reading the syllabus is a MUST. If you do ALL the extra credit and pass the test you will do well. She is there to help if you ask.
do NOT EVER TAKE PHI PSY W/ HER! I had her for PSY260 for only two weeks. I emailed her because I could not access the online quizzes and asked if there was a solution. She just told me no in three different ways. The material is tough, & she is passionate, but not helpful. Dropped the class cause she will not help me w/ tech issues or email back.
I like her as a lecturer- she's interesting and intelligent. The problem is that although she clearly wants her students to learn, she doesn't seem to want them to succeed. She'll use any excuse to withdraw points from your score (even if her lack of technical ability is to blame). Many straight A students in my class got their first B from her.
Exams are worded in a way that is very confusing, as if she is intentionally trying to be deceptive. Online quizzes (homework) are just as confusing. Expect blank stares and short responses when asking for help or clarification. Changes due dates without warning. Group projects based on graphic design skills. AVOID IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA!
somewhat okay with lectures. gives you the study guide 4 days before exam. She is very unclear about assignments and pretty much wants you to figure everything out on your own. Not much help here. Take someone else
The lecture is straight from the book. Therefore, the tests are too. Not very clear on grading assignments. Also, she has you do a group project which was HORRIBLE. My group sucked and like always when there is a group project, one person ends up doing it. The class was just fine. I was thrilled when it was over though.
Her exams are difficult as it was detail and knowledge heavy from text; I struggled more in this class than I did in chemistry201! The highest grades on the midterms were never an A, and majority people received B's and C's. She is however, inspirational and discusses current psychological news. However, I feel like some lecture time is wasted.
If you want to learn a lot about psychology, opportunities, and how to be a great student, take this Professor. She taught me so much, made me think critically, and exposed me to so many opportunities. If psychology is your passion, you will love this class and the professor. It is a challenging class but you learn a lot about research.
Nice prof but you're on your own this class. Good lectures, but most of material is in the text so study the book before she gives out the study guide, bc she only gives that out 5 days in advance. Mult choice exams, with occasional essay questions. EC offered thru sem, you MUST do them if you want to pass. She's knowledgeable but tough
Unorganized. Unclear Powerpoints. Difficult exams. Lets lectures get taken over by irrelevant student questions/discussions and therefore allows less time to discuss important material we will get tested on. Highly recommend doing all the extra credit she offers.
This class is 1 unit and is a pass/ no pass. More homework than my Psy 260 and Psy 211 combined. She changed the due dates that are on the syllabus without notice, we would go up to her after class to ask about the dates for clarity. The guest speakers did not come on the dates stated on the syllabus, that matters b/c responses are for credit.
Had her for Pys 260 and she taught a very clear, science based view on some very socially volatile subjects. Fascinating class! Not an entertainer but a brilliant research scholar with education and critical thinking being her top priorities.
Come to class with an open mind & prepare to learn about Human Sexuality. Lectures rely on student participation. Van Kirk plays devil's advocate in order for you to think outside of the box, and consider a world from a different perspective. She won't hold your hand--read the book, syllabus and have work ready to turn in without reminders.
Shes not horrible but not the best either. Her lectures are all over the place & almost a waste since tests are only on text material. SO many assignments to do, mostly group & graphic busy work. Do APA Goals for EACH assignment 4 full credit. Do ALL extra credit as well.
Not the best professor Ive had. 10+ assign and is a SUPER tough grader. Its like she cant give out an A to people when its deserved. Her exams are easy as long as you study from TEXT & look over notes. Assign are harder than exams. Something thats out of 20 points youll get the same if not lower than your exams & thats annoying. Do EC!
4 mid terms 60 points each Little wiggle room for any missed assignments Not about sex at all Gender heavy teaching. About gender issues and identity. Multiple speakers from trans people to planned parenthood. Written responses due for every single one. You cant have a contradicting opinion or you will be ripped a new 1 my classmates.
If you're better at learning on your own, then take this professor. She expects you to know the material as if you've taken or remembered any previous material from biology or psychology. Her lectures have absolutely nothing to do with the tests, so reading IS A MUST. Gives extra credit opportunities but doesn't help if other assignments are low.
I tried taking her last semester for Psychological 258 and I withdrawn because she was being really unhelpful and unclear in all of the assignments and just was not understanding. I took her this semester for 255 and let me tell you I regret giving her another chance. Don't take this professor unless you want useless lectures and unclear assigmen
Jaye is one of the only professors I had at community college that treated us like four-year students and that pushed us to hold ourselves to a higher standard. Throughout the semester our psych255 class created a bond and Jaye is in part to thank for that. She is a great person and genuinely wants her students to succeed!!!
Lecture heavy, but the lectures are more talk than anything, so dont really bother writing everything down. She gives you a study guide with questions that aren't going to be on the quiz. Gets classes confused, seems lost half the time. Sweet woman but just shouldnt be a professor. Try to crash another professor or wait. CLASS IS A JOKE SORRY.
Very nice lady and knowledgable. Great resource for help with extracurricular activities and how to prepare for the workforce. Lectures are interesting and engaging because not directly from the book. BUT, she is disorganized! Lots of homework - impossible to get full credit on. Many errors in syllabus & tests. Stubborn and unhelpful with questions
Van Kirk is a nice person. She trains you for upper division professors & gives out many extra credit opportunities. The rest of her character worked against the students as far as learning goes. She doesn't lecture much, but instead lets the students discuss their personal issues. More of a therapy session than a college course. Self taught class.
If you would like to have a professor who teaches you the material, don't take Jaye Van Kirk. Every lecture period was left incomplete due to her entertaining conversation with other students regarding their own psychological issues. Very unprofessional as far as being a professor goes. Should've been a school counselor, not a teacher.
Honestly she's the worst teacher I've ever had. EVER. Her lectures, no matter how many notes you take, do not pertain to the test questions. She is the most unorganized scatterbrained professors I've ever met. She isn't helpful, even when I came to see her outside of class. group projects with no guidance and no such thing as study guides from her.
Shes very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed her class, learned a lot. She always like to interact with students by asking questions, group questions instead of her just talking thru the whole lecture.
Very knowledgeable professor! Hard grader, but once you figure out her style of grading it is easy to adapt. Lots of guest speakers and useful assignments.
She goes on lots of tangents and she not organized at all, she’s such a tough grader the assignment would be worth 2 points but will still give 1.5 points, she also have a very mono toned voice making it hard to concentrate and become engaged in class. She also likes to brag a lot about how much she does for US or the students
This professor is TERRIBLE. Literally makes it impossible for you to just receive a passing grade on an assignment yet pass the class. Not recommending at all. STAY AWAY!!!
Great professor and had amazing lectures. Hard grader but you can figure out how she grades and adapt. Just get your assignments done and follow her syllabus and you'll be good.
although this course is only one credit, i did more work for this class in comparison to my other courses and the assignments are carefully and critically graded. the professor was a bit unorganized, but she did leave helpful and insightful feedback on assignments. you do learn a lot of useful information- just a lot of work for one credit.
Avoid Jaye at all costs. This was by far the worst class I have ever taken. Throughout the semester we were treated as if we were graduate students that knew what we were doing. Jaye is completely unorganized and the lectures are not useful for any tests or projects. So much of your grade depends on group projects which were extremely difficult.
Professor Jaye is a tough grader but if you put the effort in, you should be fine. Her lectures are fun if you participate. She loves to hear about how your own experiences can relate to psychology, so don't be afraid to speak up. Only criticism is a lack of guidance on one of the group projects, but she gives you over a month to complete it.
One of my favorite professors. She has all of the inside knowledge on psyc events, gives extra credit and if you do your work her class is an easy A with interactive lectures. She encourages students to participate but doesn't force it. Gives great feedback. Fun easy assignments that took just a little bit of time. Looking forward to more classes.
Tough grader but lectures are engaging. Use Unstuckstudy, ChatGPT, and the syllabus to excel. Participate in class discussions to apply psychology to real life.
I loved participating in her discussions during class. Homework was very easy, mostly just reading. Had an issue with the online textbook and she was very understanding.
She does give multiple extra credit options. Just make sure you take notes in class, complete your assignments on time and you'll be fine. Her class was an easy A, she gives plenty of time to complete assignments, doesn't take forever to grade and we had one group assignment luckily my group was super cool. She's sweet and cares for her students.
