This guy is proabably one of the best teachers you, can ever come across, women love this guy!!! Can't go wrong you will learn so much.

As a person, he's wonderful - witty, kind, patient. But I had to drop b/c the computer program we used as homework had NOTHING to do with the in class lectures! I really like his personality, but his teaching is not for those with weak math skills!

This teacher is awesome. He is very prepared for the course and is extremely helpful. Homework was not mandatory, but helpful if you wanted to do well on the exams. He went over the tests in detail before and after the exam to make sure you understood the material. Very understanding! He deserves teacher of the year.

Michelena is a great teacher. He explains everything with the utmost clarity and has the most amazing classroom demeanor. Great teacher and really helpful. If you are terrible at math, take this class. Beware though, all the homework is online and have to buy a code which costs about $75, but the code comes with full access to the textbook online, so not a bad setup.

He is one of the best professors I have had. He is very helpful and can be funny. His class is not easy, but if you work hard, study for the exams, and do all of your homework, you can pass the class. There is a mathematician project, but it was fairly easy. I enjoyed the math class very much and would recommend him to anyone. Don't procrastinate!

Great professor, tough subject. I went from acing Calc I to struggling for my life in Calc II. It was absolutely no fault of Professor Michelena's, however, my own study habits were to blame. Very clear and concise, tests are straight forward (if you know the material you will do just fine). He's an amazing professor, take him if you can!

Prof. Michelena is a great guy! He assigns homework on My Math Lab and there are 4 tests throughout the semester. Study and pay attention in class and you will do fine.

One of the Best Math instructors hands down! He is very clear about his teaching and explains everything in such a simple way that any one can understand. His tests are easy if as long as you pay attention and do the homework. If I could have I would have taken all my math classes with him.

Mr. Michelena is good teacher. He wants his class to pass; pushed back a lot of due dates. The homework problems are difficult, but not on the test. What he teaches in class doesn't really help with all the homework, but it does with the tests. Pretty easy. Nice guy.

Jim was awesome. I've taken him twice for Math121(got a C) and again for Math171(got a B). If you've got a mind for logic you will love his clear cut teaching style. It really sinks into your head. I transferred to Merced and am getting an A in Calc 2 because of a strong start. One of the best professors I've ever taken a class with, best for Math.

Very good teacher. He was engaged in his student's questions, punctual, and funny without being unprofessional. He explained the lecture content as best as he could if he sensed any confusion. The many weeks i had him he was never impatient or unwilling to help his students out. I took him for math 89 and 101 and always looked forward to the class

He is pretty awesome! Tough class for some, but if you put in the work you should be golden. Math 121 doesn't use the textbook too much, so the online version might be best. Generally, get to know him! He's really nice and quite funny. Sad that I can't take any other classes with him.

Professor Michelena is awesome! I've never really liked math and haven't always done well either. I took his hybrid class and his lectures were recordings online that you take notes on for points. You complete homework on Pearson. In class we went over troubling problems. 4 in class exams, all other quizzes online. Really caring and great teacher.

DONT CHOOSE ANY OTHER MATH TEACHER. Professor Michelena is the best professor Ive had at MJC and by FAR the best math professor. He grades generously and truly gives you a real understanding of math. I couldnt have ever imagined getting an A on a math exam until this class. I wish I wouldve taken him for previous math courses.

He is a great professor, lectures can be hard to follow sometimes because he tends to be all over the board some times. Stats is his true forte and math history. Cares about you however. This class moves fast, so making sure to stay on top of homework and lectures is important. I would definitely recommend taking him.

If you want to learn pre-calculus then take michelena. He assigns partial credit on exams if you know what you're doing. Lectures are straightforward and correlate to the homework nicely. Homework isn't due instantly like other professors, he gives you time. Very lenient grader and gives you a rough "study guide" for exams. This is a safe choice.

Not allowed to use notes on the 1st two exams. Provides partial credit 4 incorrect answers on exams if U can show your work. Fair grader & cares.

I am terrible at math, and had tried taking this class with another professor before dropping. Prof. Michelena is wonderful, he helps when needed and explains the material in a way that allowed even me to understand math. I will be taking his Finite class in the Fall because I enjoyed it so much!

Professor Michelena is one of the best math teachers Ive had, I took the online class and his lectures were organized and at the right pace for someone who isnt great at math like me. His lectures simulate a lot of the test questions, so pay attention and dont fall behind. His tests are not bad and he isnt a tough grader. Great Teacher!

Online HW gives answers graded immediately and correct answers if wrong. 3 tries/problem, and you can click to see an example or have it walked with you step by step. He only teaches the simple format of domain and range, which means you must learn the other way via mymathlab through examples. Can't skip learning the other way (will be on quizzes).

Great professor is very passionate about math and know how to teach so that you understand even the toughest problems. test are easy and usually no more then 15 questions. the final was also very easy. if you pay attention and do the homework this class is an easy A.

Michelena was such a great teacher. I hadn't taken a math class in 3 years and I still was able to understand clearly and quickly. Easy material, not hard to get the hang of, especially with Michelena's help. Very caring, wants you to succeed. I want to take him for every math class ever.

Math is hard for me and I had to work by butt off to get an A but Professor Michelena is caring and really wants you to succeed. His videos are very clear and thorough and if you tell him you are struggling he really does have empathy and is willing to help you. He's a great instructor and truly a nice man.

I am currently taking his finite class online. His online lectures are thorough, there are online quizzes after every chapter roughly 10 questions they are not timed and you have up to 3 chances to pass. There are 4 tests that are done at the college and as long as you study the review you will be prepared for the tests. Do NOT procrastinate!!!!

I have always disliked math but he made finite mathematics just click for me. For an online class, his lectures were really great and I felt like I was in a classroom.

Professor Michelena has to be one of the nicest teachers I have ever had! He is very light-hearted, and willing to have a helpful conversation with you. He is very easy to listen to in class and teaches in a way everyone can understand. He is willing to work with you on things you are struggling with, and he always has a great attitude!

Professor is hilarious, I enjoyed his lectures a lot. Focus on his lectures and do your homework on pearson then you will be fine. He's very helpful if you need any questions. Also he gives out activities that helps boost your grade. There are 3 exams and 1 final which is accumulative. He has youtube lecture videos that are helpful too.

We had about two assignments due each week, he uploaded videos on youtube to go over the material then you would complete the homework in Pearson and in class he would go over any questions we may have. His kids do make noise in the background but it was very easy to tune out and focus on him as they werent very loud and they made us smile.

Professor Michelena is by far the best math teacher at MJC. He genuinely cares about his students and is a positive teacher. I'm seriously the worst at math and I've always feared math but his class was pleasant and I would take any math course with him. If you do good on all the homework and pay attention to the lectures you'll do fine.

Took Prof. Michelena's online Math 101/32 online class and I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. He has his lessons on YouTube and he goes over that chapter in his Zoom classes. He answers questions thoughtfully and thoroughly. Generally speaking, math isn't an easy thing for me to learn, but his class is the exception. Highly recommended.

Tough class for those that are not good at math but he will spend time answering whatever questions you have. He cracks jokes a lot, which makes class fun. If you put in the effort to practice, you will do fine in the class.

I prob only attended 4 lectures,in the syllabus it says if you miss more than 3 sessions youre recommended to drop. I still passed. Hes very understanding & if you cant make it to the exams, youre allowed to take it at a different time as long as you tell him with time. During exams he makes you turn on your camera on zoom &show your work.

I have literally never liked Math but the way Professor Michelena teaches makes me dislike it less. His class is well structured, his lecture videos are not rushed and he has a really calming voice when breaking things down easily. He's always available for office hours and actually cares about our grades! My only wish is that he taught Math 106!

While I'm not good at math, Michelena helped me a lot during this course. He perfectly explains his lessons and has no issue helping people. His work load is pretty normal but he'll warn you weeks prior about an assignment that's due. Both his lectures and videos were easy to understand. He values that you show work on the quizzes.
