CRAZY! But it works cause it gets our attention!!
can actually make stats interesting
Awesome! As boring as the class was, she taught it great!
Very funn and weird, but good weird. Good notes, but lousy Excel projects.
a great course, but the assignments were ridiculous!!!

Good prof. Makes stats interesting (as much as it can be)
Excellent Thesis Advisor/ Great Person
Passionate about statistics (I guess it is possible) AND she loves Ralph Nader!
Has a sense of humour, very friendly, and actually teaches stuff
she rocks! stats are fun!
The only prof I know to dress in summer clothes in the middle of winter!

She actually makes stats tolerable!
Jean's lectures are sometimes boring but it is stats and she does what she can with them, and it is a fine job! Very fair marker!
Take this from a graduate: she is far and away the best prof in geog., if not the whole faculty. Miss ya, Jeanie Baby.
She's always smiling and helpful.
Great prof!
A great prof. made first year a bit easier to take in! = )
HELPFUL
Such a great prof
The best professor I've had.
Jean's great!! I wouldn't have done well in 178 (stats) if I wasn't for her help and patience. I took 351 (transportation) just because she was teaching it!! She's extremely helpful, friendly and always has a smile on her face. You're awesome, Jean!! :)
Jean Andrey is hands down one of the best profs at UW. Her intellect is extremely high and she is also so positive and happy about life in general. Take her stats class or her Transportation class, both are excellent because it is Jean who is teaching!!
"mean jean" as they call her is far from it !! hands down one of the best profs at UW.
She's great, so funny, so smart, so nice!!
Thank Jean, thanks for the best course I took at UW
Best prof. by far at waterloo, everyone should take one of Andrey's courses.
EASY class, great prof!
She is nice, helpful, funny and a great proff!
Jean is absolutely great! Always helpful, funny, makes class exciting, knowledgeable, freindly and great to chat with. At a be "Mean Jean!"
What an excellent prof! she is so smart and patience. The assignments are hard but is always willing to help! She is the greatest ever..
I thought that this was a fair course. Andrey is a lot of fun, and keep the class exciting.
She makes stats fun!
Jean is awesome. She tries her hardest to make stats enjoyable. She's a genuinely nice person who really cares about her students.
I've never been good at Math. And even though I finished with a 63% in this class I don't even think I would have passed it without Jean :) She's just a really nice lady :)
GREAT PROF! She connects with the class, and presnets the material in a way that makes you feel like she is teaching YOU, not just lecturing to an audience that may or may not care. TAKE HER COURSE!
she talks way too fast, and has no control over her class. She talks so fast that u dont even bother going. Better off teaching ur self the material, with completed notes!!
Put simply...the cream of the crop!! :) Wonderful prof with great enthusiasm...where would we be without her? You are truly the best Jean!
AMAZINGLY easy class with an amazing prof. If you can't understand this class with Andrey teaching you should NOT be in university. I am serious. EVERYONE needs basic statistical knowledge to apply to their careers. Amazing average booster (NON-ES STUDENTS TAKE NOTE!).
excellent ability
she talks too fast, but is still a good prof! it gets annoying how she refers to herself in 3rd person every class
she talks tooo fassssstttttt!
She is really funny. If you dont pay attention and interrupt her class, she will pin point you out and embarass you! I LOVE IT! I just dropped her class because I can't deal with statistics, but if you know excel, take her class. She is a sweetheart!
Its a great class, fun and relavant material and Jean makes the class and questions fun. Just don't get stuck in her Monday labs! Everybody cheats on labs except the Monday people that have to do them first. Your mark will be much higher if your lab is later in the week but if not still expect 80's!
45% of your mark comes from Excel assignments that are outlined step by step for you. You have to actually go to the lectures if you want a complete set of notes, no textbook. Pick a later lab time in the week, as she tends to run behind on the lectures.
While a nice, jolly person, I really regret having her as a teacher. While I recognize that others do like her teaching style, I found her far too frenetic and scattered to be of any use. This is compounded by having no actual textbook, only course notes to fill in - a problem when she glosses over important details and dwells on the obvious.
I had Jean for the distance version of 178 last fall..I have problems with math and no aptitude for stats....hated the course but not her teaching. She was really helpful as I ran up against lots of troubles that term...I made an effort and just passed....not an average booster for me....but Jean was super
JEAN RULES...enough said
very helpful, easy to get along with. fun teaching style. a real human being
super nice prof. her courses are great. she's also very intelligent, she explains stuff clearly AND she's very funny.
very good
You really couldn't ask for a better prof to teach stats. The material is broken down so clearly and she is hilarious and can actually get people having fun during stats lectures. Overall shes just an awesome teacher
Jean is the BEST prof i've had this year. Very humourous and intelligent. She makes learning stats fun for all of us.
im in her stats course this term and she is a really good prof, very alive and makes stats class fun and not too hard until now... lets c after the exam which is tomorrow... but her teaching is very good and she always answers qeustions!
Jean Andrey rocks my socks!!!!
Excellent teacher. Makes stats as fun as possible.
Jean uses 572 words to explain concepts that should take 5 words/formula. This course is entirely review of grade 12 data management, yet she manages to make it more confusing the second time around. If only her aimless off topic tangents were entertaining; oh well, I'll just teach myself everything the day before the final, just like the midterms.
She's entertaining and loves the subject, but she goes a little fast that it's a little overwhelming and confusing. It's hard to approach her on some things because she's a very busy woman. Helpful when she's got the time to help out.
Jean is amazing. I entered the course with no knowledge of the subject, and I'm leaving with an excellent understanding. Excellent at explaining things, and manages to make Stats fun. If you have questions, ask the TA instead of Jean, as she's a very busy woman. Thanks Jean! I wish you were teaching 278 too!
This class is very laid back, although if stats from 178 isn't your thing, I would suggest avoiding it, since 2 of the 3 assignments are stats assignments. No textbook, doesn't post lecture notes, so make sure you take really good notes all year (even when you don't think it's important) because otherwise you'll be screwed for the final.
Excellent teacher! Very helpful, although at times talks very quickly. Great term, would definately recommend taking one of her classes.
assignments were long and hard, no txtbook which made the class difficult since she's so random and goes so fast in her lectures. i will never take her classes again
Although no text book was used, printable handouts were available. Prof made the lectures interesting to listen to and knew the topic very well. She was willing to give extra help as she wanted her class to do well.
I went into this class with NO background whatsoever in class & was totally freaked out...but Jean is so clear, so enthusiastic and so helpful, it ended up being my best class (98% on the midterm, 97% on the final). Her door was often open and she was always willing to help. She makes class fun, so go, and you'll do fine!
The diversity of opinions on Jean reflect the various maturity levels of the students rating here. If you are mature, respectful and are there to LEARN, you'll LOVE her (and you'll do well, trust me and my 98%!) If you are immature or have no real motivation, you won't. Go with an open mind and you'll see why so many students say she's the BEST! :)
Very energetic!
Easy marks from class participation. No textbook, have to take your own notes as she just talks from the slides. The 2 assignments are extremely hard.Final is just based from your her notes. However, she is a very good prof and I strongly recommend her. This course is actually very interesting.
Very good prof. Somewhat difficult course, but she explains everything well and gives detailed notes.
Makes stats enjoyable, surprisingly. Understands how hard students find it and has found a way to teach it in a good way. Great in office hours. Very helpful and doesn't make you feel dumb at all. If you have to take stats, you must take it with Jean.
awesome
Prof frequently goes off topic and is very annoying. If you are trying to follow her thought process in class you might as well give up. The only saving factor is the assignments, otherwise you will likely fail because you have no idea what you're doing half of the time ( because of her rants/off topic tendencies).
I really had no interest in stats and Jean Andrey tried but as the class was at 8:30a.m only half the class showed up and everyone was tired. She's OK but when people don't understand she doesn't know how to explain differently. Tutorials and the TAs were useless.
I hated any kind of math class but when I took stats with Jean she helped so much. Math always terrified me but she helped so much. It was a 8:30 class but she was able to keep my attention really knows what she's talking about and is able to break things down well. She is awesome def have class with her if you have the choice.
Jean is a good prof, committed to her students, and committed to education. She connects with students by being funny. Her 'textbook' is that you have to print off a pdf document and fill it in as you go along in the course, a very good way to learn.
Interesting class. Easy assignments and midterms. Final was more challenging. Very passionate about the course content but confusing lecturer. Difficult to understand thought process sometimes.
If Pete Whittington wasn't a thing, I would have not passed this class...
Took her course back in 1st year. If you smile or say hi to her, she always returns it, even 2 years later. Very nice. Makes a boring subject interesting, I actually liked going to class. Perfect difficulty level to filter out the students who never show up to class and only study the night before exams.
Great course that I was excited to take. Assignments require basic math (descriptive stats) and written rationalization. She's a great prof- likely the best I've had in university. She's a bit tought on marking the presentations but it's interesting to be able to see real-world applications of course content.
Jean is so willing to help students and is really passionate. Course was easy and not too boring, no need for the textbook though.
She is a lovely person and is one of the best professor I had while at Uwaterloo. Her Geography of Transportation class changed my life and put me on my current career path.
