I am terrible when it comes to science. The class was challenging for me, but I worked hard and pulled of an A. That is amazing for me! I highly recommend Jean Ann. She gives extra credit! The final was exactly like all the other tests! I zipped thru it! Take Jean Ann!

Really great teacher!! She's easy to understand and she seems like she really wants to help you succeed in her class. She used different teaching methods in her lectures for all kinds of learners. Take notes, read (although its not essential for all the material) and pay attention and you'll do great! She's funny too!

excellent professor. if you can take her lecture and lab together (they repeat each other, so it is easier to study). exams are hard, you need to study both her notes and book, but she gives an opportunity for extra credit for each exam. couple of in class quizzes are easy points. always willing to help you out even outside of class.

Honestly one of the best teachers I have ever had. She understands that not everyone is a Biology major and explains things with perfect clarity. She will do anything she can to help you if you ask. She expects you to work and is not unreasonable about homework.

I noticed when I went back to read the chapters assigned... I already knew everything! She is so clear in her lectures you hardly need to study on your own time. I can remember everything she has taught this entire semester. She's interesting, funny and can apply anything to every day life.

This teacher is beyond amazing. She is geared for teh student who is not a medical major. She makes this understandable and works with you. She does not want you to fail; she will do what she can to help you pass. Always attend class, because there is so much information you will miss otherwise, but she is so kind, and amazing.. take her!

Ok you have to work, but if you go to class and study the notes and outlines SHE GIVES YOU, you should be gold. she is funny, and makes class interesting. She grades generously if you are making an effort. I think you would have to work harder to fail the class than to pass it.

Professor Vickers is a wonderful teacher who is willing to go out of her way to make sure that you learn the material. Powerpoint printoffs & w/s are what to study in order to make a grade & life applications for every test help guarantee 10 pts for every test. I learned so much and plan on futhering my studies in Biology because of this class.

This is a hard class, everyone knows. You have to play it right. Attend class, take lots of notes, and study hard... oh do the homework too and it is still hard. I loved this class! Biology is required for most majors and I would recommend taking it with her. She really knows the material and teaches it very well. She is very helpful and will work around your schedule. Labs are not hard, and she often tells you exactly what will be on the tests during lectures. She's funny and makes class fun!

Prof. Vickers was my favorite teacher last semester. She is very kind, funny, and helpful. I found her class to be the easiest science class I have ever taken. My lowest grade on any exam was a 99%. The material covered was a breeze but I loved going to class anyway.

If you don't get an A in her class it's your own fault. Oh Jean Ann, this woman is the definition of a southern sweetheart. Don't get the textbook! All of the stuff you need from it is posted online. The class is easy, but you've GOT TO STUDY. Jean Ann is phenomenal. No professor at JCCC works as hard as she does. Works with you to make sure you understand the material. You will know exactly what is on the test before you take each one. If you do some minor studying you will get an A. You don't have to read the textbook, just take good lecture notes.

Bio is my least favorite subject but Prof. Vickers completely changed that. Not only was she the most helpful professor, but she is the sweetest and funniest professor I have ever had! I have never been a science person and always passed with C averages. I earned my first A in a science course from her. She makes it easy to stay interested in her lectures, she makes it fun and bearable. If she taught every science course I needed, i would take them all with her. Questions from tests come from her quizzes, so keep those for sure!

Tests are almost exactly word for word from the lecture quizzes, and she stays on top of grading! InQuizitives are due almost every week, but you can work ahead! Biology is definatly NOT my favorite subject... until I took her!! She is a fun teacher. All the tests are all lecture quizzes combined. The lecture quizzes are all pretty easy too. There are also inquizitives too which is an online tool. Like I said I don't normally like biology but she made biology fun! Must take her!

Jean Ann Vickers is very helpful. The HW is lecture quizzes and inquizitives (an online tool) The tests are the lecture quizzes combined, so study that and you will do very well on the tests. The notes in class are easy to take and make sense. There are also lab days you HAVE to go or you wont pass!! plus lab practicals that are kinda difficult.

I freaking love Jean Ann. you average at about 5 or 6 quizzes a week at the beginning but it slows down later on. She is such a hilarious professor and she genuinely wants all her students to pass. Professor Vickers is a rare find. She genuinely cares about if you learn the material, not just how you test. She understands that life happens sometimes, and that's great. She has also found the secret to creating good tests. She takes away the "novelty" of the test, making sure it's all material you have seen before. 11/10 legendary professor.

Jean Ann was the best teacher I've ever had. She gives one take home lecture quiz per week thats up to 10-15 easy questions. She integrates extra credit w/in the lecture quiz's. Study lecture quiz's given for every unit because almost all the questions on the unit tests are taken right from the lecture quiz's! It takes work but you can do it!

Jean Ann is a great professor and has engaging lectures. The final is a selection of questions from prior tests, prior tests are a selection of questions from homework worksheets. Almost everything is multiple choice throughout the class with a few fill ins. There a couple of additional assignments + lab.

Jean Ann genuinely cares about her students. Everything is easy to understand! Every assignment has built in extra credit, if you turn in lecture quizzes you will get a good grade. Her lecture tests use the same questions as the lecture quizzes. Memorize and study lecture quizzes and you will get a good grade! The first science related prof I liked

BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! You need to take a class with her. I struggle with Biology and she made it a breeze! She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Quiz heavy but they arent that hard and help you learn the material. Even switching over to online from COVID19 she has done an amazing job. Her teaching is 10/10. Love her!

I love Professor Vickers! She has made biology a breeze, I didn't understand a thing in high school, but she made it seem like its common sense which it really is. Lecture quizzes match the lecture tests, so studying those helps tremendously. Inquisitive helo you learn super well! Lots of extra credit from lecture quizzes.

Jean Ann is so sweet. She fully appreciates all her students, and grading is very fair. Do the work, put in the time, and do the extra credit and you will be fine. She is so passionate and caring. She still gives a decent amount of homework but I am horrible at Biology and ended with an A. Finals are projects not exams. Definitely recommend.

I have not been in her class very long yet but I can already tell that she is great. If you simply attend every class and keep up with the work, you should be just fine. I am in the online course so I was worried I might have trouble understanding but she provides many resources and basically everything we need to pass the course.

Prof. Vickers is very engaging and makes classes interesting. If you ever have any questions or misunderstandings she is easy to reach and will work with you to clarify things until you understand. Lots of reading with weekly reading quizzes and lecture quizzes but if reading quizzes are based on completion and she gives extra credit.

Ms. Vickers was one of the best teachers I have had at JCCC. She genuinely cares about her students and is very assessable. Lots of reading quizzes, lab quizzes, 4 unit exams and 1 final group project. If you do the work you'll have no problem passing with an easy A. She gives extra credit and drops your 4 lowest quiz scores.

Overall the class wasn't too hard, there are just a lot of assignments and quizzes.

Professor Vickers was my favorite! There is a lot of homework, lecture quizzes, and tests, so be prepared to study and take notes. Her lectures are great and she shows her notes. If you're going to miss class, communicate with her and she will send you whatever you missed:) She is such a kind and genuine person. 100% recommend.

I enjoyed this class. Professor Vickers very professional. She divides students into groups and selects very correctly so that a weak student can pull up, it helped me a lot. She makes hard things easier. She is great!!!!!! I would recommend her 200%.

The class is designed to ensure you succeed. Lots of extra credit and partial notes allowed on exams. I would rate the class a one for difficulty but it is still a lot of work (hence the 4 credits). I would definitely recommend this class for someone needing their biology credit filled. Only complaint is attendance seemed unnecessary beyond labs.

I love her so much! You will have to put the work in, but she makes it near impossible to not get an A! Lets you use note sheets on exams and gives "wobble" points which really boost your test grade. Would take her for all my classes if given the chance :D

Professor Vickers is by far one of my favorite professors. I would recommend her to anyone taking bio 121. I struggle in science but she makes it impossible to do bad in her class. She gives multiple opportunities for extra points that you won't even notice till later. She is willing to work with each student privately that needs help in the course

She was overall an awesome professor. Very kind and caring for her students. There is a good amount of homework, but all assignments (for the most part) are online. Her lectures are very interesting and involve students. I would recommend taking her if you have to take BIO 121.

Best BIO teacher at jccc. She is understanding, knowledgable, the class is EASY. Labs are well laid out, easy to do and not hard to grasp. Tests are 50-question multiple choice and lab tests are FIB but again, if you show up for lab, they are easy questions. Very HW heavy but it doesn't take long to do

Jean Ann is very knowledgable. She is very respectful, and she cares about your success in her class! The online lecture/reading chapter homework assignments are heavy. I would suggest completing those at least 2 days before those assignments are due. Not an overwhelming class. Study a little bit daily & you will do great!

Vickers is one of my most memorable professors, I had her Biology Lecture and Lab Spring 2023 and she was so thorough, extremely helpful and caring AND the tests were totally possible to pass and this is coming from a TERRIBLE test-taker. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!

One of the best professors I've had! Everything is made clear at the beginning of the semester. Lots of homework but most is for completion. As long as you manage your time well the workload is not bad at all. She makes it easy to approach her and ask questions. Very realistic to do well in this class if you do what she recommends!

The best thing about this class was the note sheets that we could have on tests. Those saved me. Jean Ann is very nice and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Jean Ann Vickers is very passionate about her job and knows what she is talking about! She does have a LOT of McGraw Hill assignments but it is very easy points. If you show up to lecture and lab you can easily get an A or B. She allows cheat sheets on every test too which helps a lot.

If you've never taken a biology class or haven't since high school she's the woman for you. She makes lectures not boring at all. Be sure to come to class as attendance is taken and graded. You do a lot of McGraw Hill but you can get it done in an hour tops. Love that she lets you use a cheat sheet. Great professor! I would take again!

Jean Ann makes biology intriguing and fun, as someone who was once intimidated by the dynamics of Biology. I enjoyed this course a lot that I even considered changing my major to Biology! I spent more time studying and doing homework for this class than any of my other classes, so be prepared for that and every grade matters.

Got 100% on this class, she cares way more about you learning than you memorizing things. Extra credit for pretty much everything, and exams are a breeze. She encourages students to get a cheat sheet for every single exam, whole paper on both sides. The final was also very easy, though it was in assigned groups. I'm not exaggerating, she's the best

Jean Ann was a great professor. I liked the way she taught class because it was in a way I understood, it didn't make things hard to do outside of class. You get a note sheet (cheat sheet) on every test, and she has very clear rules. Overall if you do your stuff on time and understand the concepts then you should be good to go.

I took her Spring 2025, and she gave us an 8.5x11 double sided sheet for every lecture and lab exam, so PLEASE PLEASE use it, that's a big reason as to why I passed with such a high grade. 10/10
