Definitely knows his stuff.
Straight to the point, best teacher for Web Page Design Module. Offered only on Saturdays at 9am and 1pm
best professor there is in the web design module
REAL GOOD PROF. Best prof in This college I hope School let him interview other new prof. so he can choose the prof like him and will good for this school
The best professor in the web design module. very clear and straight to the point. you will learn from him. He only teaches on Saturdays but it is worth it.
Definitely one of the best in the school. He's hip and energetic. He makes sure you understand before he moves on. The time in his class flies right by. Highly recommended.
I wrote the last review for 509 and now completing 609, I can truly say Professor Boulet is part of the elite crowd. Only he can make a rather tough course fairly easy. The time in is Saturday flies by very fast, which means it is far from boring. He is highly recommended in my book.
Professor Boulet is a very good professor, he is an asset to the college.
Prof. Boulet is the definition of excellence in the educational community. His teaching methodology is a mixture of patience combined with understanding of the individualistic needs.Prof.Boulet is model for all up and coming members of the educational community, and has been an inspiration in my educational eruditional process. Please Clone Him!!!!!
boulet was a very clear and understandable professor. he makes sure you don't leave the class unless you understand the topic. he always around to help you with anything.
Excellent educator knows what to teach and how to teach it. Great at his profession, I REALLY appreciate having a professor that has real life experience in the subject.
You will definitely learn something in his class. Excellent teaching skills... If every professors were like him, NYCCT would be the best college ever. He is a rare breed.
Professor Boulet is one of the best professors I had in my 4.5 years. There are a 4 or 5 I would probably recommend and he is definetely one of them. Before him I would've probably never considered a career in programming but now with my experiences and degree my career path is set towards applications or web development.
Professor Boulet~ YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best professor in City-Tech. Do you believe or not?? If you need to learn well in web programming courses, he is the right person for you.
He is a great teacher even though he doesn't repond to his emails. He doesn't teach out of a book. Be sure to do the readings and practice what you learned in class. w3schools.com is his favorite website to use for materials.
He is a nice prof. He helps you and guide you well. He answers your questions. He is kind:). I had a lot of fun in his class last semester!
very easy. Works in the field. Only thing he doesn't answer e-mails. He'll send you them though. So don't expect communication with him outside of class. However, he's cool. And unlike many other professors I've had he knows what he is talking about.
The best professor in Webdesign. It doesn't happen a lot, but I actually went to his class with joy and desire. Classes are interesting, his explanations are clear and he makes hard things seem easy. Defiantelly taking his next class.
The best professor in Web design. It doesn't happen a lot, but I actually went to his class with joy and desire. Classes are interesting, his explanations are clear and he makes hard things seem easy. Definitely taking his class next semester. Also the guy posses a very good sence of humor, so entertainment is guaranteed.
Very Good
Web design is not exactly what I want to do with my life. Registering with it was an accident. For me that was a hard class. I think prof Boulet is the only reason I actually made it. I took both of his classes and I can tell you right now, he is the best teacher that college can offer. (in his field of course)
Very cool guy and very good professor. He has a way of explaining things so you would understand them even if you never had any interest in the subject. Plus he is funny and extremely helpful. You gonna enjoy coming to his class. Don't buy a book though. He loves to use w3school site for everything he teaches.
Great professor! Really engaging in class with a great command over the material. You will learn with this guy!!!
He always offered to help us after class, yet when it was time to go, he would kick us out and tell us to email him. Well I would, except he doesn't REPLY. He gave me a C, which is somewhat nice on his part, but I go to school to learn, not stare at a public website for three and a half hours.
His classes where always fun and well explained.
Straight hands on learning. There are none of that boring power points or "read the textbook" in his classes. You learn and you gain valuable experience. There are also a lot of useful tools and techniques introduced. You just need to keep up.
Take Microsoft Excel with him!! Professor Boulet is nice, funny, helpful, and laid-back. The class is a super easy A if you show up to class! Most of the class is completed using an online program that is really easy and EVERYTHING is open bookwebnotes. (Also the exams are exactly the same as the training.) Take this class, you will get an A!!
I took two classes with Prof Boulet. I enjoyed both of his classes especially because they were very hands on. The lectures are minimal to non-existent. Hands-on projects are fun.
The best professor ever! I learned so much in his class. His lessons are clear and lots of hands on. CST professors from NYCCT MUST take some lessons from him on order to learn how to teach computer classes! Your hard work is highly appreciated prof. Boulet!
Words can only say so much about someone until you experience it. Prof. Boulet is by far the most engaging professor in the school. Every other CST prof. just wants to get on w/ their lecture and say peace out. They don't care. Prof. Boulet inspired me to get in touch with my programming-self b/c of how much he cares about his students' interest.
The class was easy. Professor doesn't really teach anything, and grades are not tough. No book needed. Very helpful and he makes sure everybody is on the same page. He just gives the code and makes sure it works for all, but doesn't explain the code, feels like you're suppose to know everything before taking his class.
Best way to learn USEFUL web skills is take his class. This instructor IS CURRENT with technology!
Amazing professor, clear and easy to understand. If you dont understand something, he will help you out personally. Just dont be late to class.
Really nice guy, teaches you about different technologies used in web programming. Makes sure all students are on the same pace, really cares about the students. The best prof, understands the technology and knows how to teach. Other profs may know their stuff but don't know how to interact with students.
Pretty easy class, just do your work. Professor is really nice about letting you make up assignments. DO NOT waste your money on the super expensive textbook you will not use it, simply buy the online access code.
Simply one of the best profs in City Tech! I took p h p and it was a blast!Lectures are super valuable and close to real world and coding practices. Prof is hilariously funny and entertaining; 4 hour double classes pass easy with a feeling that you really learned something important. Strongly recommend if you are on front or back development path.
This professor is one of the best professor in cst major. He is probably in his 30s but his examples in class are the best. I was actually able to learn a lot about coding from him than any other professor before. Take him if CST is your major, you wont regret it. His speech is clear, helps you if your stuck and gives extra credit a lot which helps
This man has the patience of a saint. He will repeat things over & over and personally assist students w/ a problem. Prof. Boulet really tries to get students to think and not just copy things down. For CST 2409 it helps to review what was done in class and ask questions on what you are not sure of and also to read/study on your own.
This man is the best. You take any of his classes, you'll come out a genius.
Jean is one of the golden professors of the CST Major and I would love to take another class with him. There's homework here and there, but nothing major. His tests are 70% take home then the rest is in class (just modifying your code from the first part of the test). Take him, he's a really great professor.
A mix mash of chaotic and hard working. While he is a very dedicated professor and a very good one at that ,his class was a bit unorganized. No real syllabus was handed out, grades were vague, and most of the homework/tests were take-home. However he is a very lenient professor, allowing us to constantly resubmit assignments.
Jean knows Java very well, however he is an overrated professor. Does not teach well. He did not grade anything throughout our semester until the end, changed the final like five times within the last two weeks. Didn't have time to focus on any one topic for a period of time to prepare for it. Still passed with a B, but will never take him again.
Professor Boulet, is a great professor. He explains the topics very well. And you can ask as many questions as you want. He explains the topic until you really get it. He really wants students to learn. If you want to learn take him.
I really like professor Jean Boulet because he explains and goes step by step on explaining how to deal with Java Programming. The homework he gives are straight forward based on the coding we do in class. Professor Jean Boulet is a very good professor and I would definitely take another class with him. He actually teaches and goes through the code
His lectures are great and hands on. He explains theory while he is actually doing the code with the students in class. This is the best way to lean. He goes over the code line by line making sure everyone gets it. This is one the best professor I ever had. Take him. You will be happy you did.
OKAY SO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN TAKE HIM. HE IS THE BEST* PROFESSOR TO LEARN FROM. HE IS VERY PATIENT WITH YOU AND LOVES TO HELP. YOU WILL ACTUALLY LEARN TO CODE AND HE DOES IT STEP BY STEP. I HOPE HE GETS A RAISE FOR BEING SO PATIENT. THATS HARD TO FIND IN NYC.
I love the fact he is of rare professors that try to teach the students in a way they will understand the class, he doesn't just lecture to talk of random nonsense, he really tries t explain what he's saying so every student understands, and i love the fact he makes students engage in classes, and i love how he explains what each line of code means
He's an awesome professor. He takes the time to explain things in class if people don't understand. He assigns homework frequently but will send videos that walk you through the assignment and show you step by step what needs to be done and how it can be done. Then, he'll assign in-class work and make you show him that you can do it by yourself.
A truly awesome professor. I struggled quite a bit in his classes, but when I went to him for help, he'd explain why parts of my code were breaking. I lost my confidence in Java coding at least 6 times, but he brought it back up. This class uses SceneBuilder, which feels like an older version of Android Studio. Great class. PLEASE take him.
NO syllabus, his Homeworks/Tests are take home. But he gives you the homework 1-2 days before its due (you send the homework through different emails). For the final, he taught us the pie chart 2 weeks before and expect us to master it. The only easy part was MongoDB midterm. He is very disorganized, don't know how people like him as a professor.
He's a kind person with a heartbreaking story but, not a very good professor. Prof Boulet has no syllabus for the course and he does not prepare for his lessons. His lectures are based on what he thinks you need to know. I attended every class and I hardly learned anything. I cant code and my programs for exams never work but he gave me 85+ grades.
he is a good professor with good intentions for his students. he shows everything step by step however, the only downside is that he is a little brief when explaining codes using lambda expressions/generics. otherwise he is a very composed and passionate teacher. he also sends the class coding videos which is great for reinforcing class material.
Professor Boulet is a fun Professor who takes the time out to help students understand the materials being discussed in class. His classes are interactive and he gives one on one feedback and help with your code. He is very patient and respectful and he also posts helpful videos that make doing projects and understanding them easier.
PSA: TAKE HIS CLASSES!!! YOU ARE DOING YOURSELF A FAVOR BY TAKING HIS CLASSES. He is a diamond at City tech and will prepare you for the real world. After learning hands on concepts and a better understanding of problem solving, I was actually able to apply my skills and think like a software engineer. You gotta work for it but its college so...
If you got a passion for coding, you can't miss him. He wants you to learn. Class isn't that difficult, but if you are having trouble to understand materials, he always helps students. You can always go visit him during office hours if class time is not enough. He's the BEST CST Professor at City Tech. TAKE HIM!
Do you love coding? Take him if yes! If you love coding, you are guaranteeing an A in his class. Always ask questions if you don't understand. He is more than willing to help students. He wants you to success.
Had no clue with java and still dont but he'll still pass you even if things dont even run. just as long as you seem like you try you good. If you aint shy like me then you can learn a lot more. but he'll still stay behind and take out some of his lunch time to help you. Mainly memorize the codes the gives you for projects and exams and youlldogood
Hes actually pretty bad at teaching. We only made 4 applications throughout the semester so there wasn't much to learn. There is no agenda/structure for the course. We just come in and follow him code and most of his code is pretty hard to understand. Everyone is always a little confused by his code. He curve the final grade but you wont learn much
The final and midterm are based on the project videos that he gives. He posts instructional videos and you just follow it. He is accessible outside class if you need help.
The CST dept. is lucky to have Boulet. Challenging, but worthwhile class. He creates coding videos that walk you through projects/exams, etc. Very code-heavy class and he uses industry standards/technology. Unlike most profs, Boulet actually knows what he's talking about. Take him if you want to become a better coder.
He's pretty well versed in multiple IT areas like databases. The only issue is that he doesn't follow any syllabus outline/curriculum and just continue programming on where he left off last class. His course is really just copying what he does and there's not much room for actual learning. You won't learn much but if he's the only option, he's ok..
Took Professor Boulet twice. Once during pre-COVID with in-class lectures and once during COVID with online learning. He is an absolutely stellar professor who cares both about his work and his students understanding the work. If it wasn't my last class to graduate, I'd definitely take him again. I've had many great professors and he's one of them.
Really Loved this Professor. Really Explains the content thoroughly. If you are trying to build good habits as a coder, you will benefit tremendously from this professor. Final thought, if you are looking for an easy A just participate and do the assignments, but if you are looking to code better take this man's class.
Best professor Ive taken. He really teaches you and may seem tough but he actually cares unlike most of City Tech professors.
Unorganized doesn't even have a syllabus. If you want a semester full of headaches take him.
One of Best Professor to learn Java. He explain each code line by line. Took him for 3613
He's a nice guy but not a good professor. Can you imagine him teaching at least five classes a semester? So, you can't really find him after class via Email. He never grade homework, and the final exam was wrong, and the grade wasn't revised. If you want to get an A, don't take him. If you want to pass, he's a good choice.
Mr Boulet is one of the most unreliable and unfair professor Ive had. He doesnt look at or grade any of the homework and your grade is solely based off of 2 unfair quizzes he barely prepares you for. A decent final. And a Mos exam that more than half the class will fail. Loves to skip his own class and never answers emails. Good luck getting an A
Professor Boulet is fantastic. If you really wanted to learn something take him for sure and get ready to learn.
Great lectures, only that. Vague course structure, no office hours (only random after class, which he considers his "own time"), rarely replies to emails, won't get back to you after saying he will, won't retract errors in grading, gives HW before first day of class, many class breaks led to incomplete course. Wholly unworthy of trust.
His classes are geared towards the self-learners. The videos he records and Google are your friends. Youll need them if youve had zero exposure to data structures or any of the concepts/technologies he introduces in his class (API requests, Flask, JSON, JUnit). If you pass the class, apply for a job; youll have what it takes to be a programmer.
He's a solid teacher, but EXTREMELY unorganized. He changed the final last minute after it had already been posted and barely responded to emails. He gave out incompletes because the code wouldn't load on his computer. He's a knowledgeable and experienced professor, but he needs to be structured and not rush his grading.
Professor Boulet is a great professor to learn functional coding. He will give you a lot of time to finish your work, you are responsible to catch up on his work and earn your grade. He will give you plenty of extra credit to earn. If you want to take his class, please brush your java and then sit for his class. Learn java and sit for his class.
The professor gives out videos to the students to follow. No midterm exam. The final exam will be based on the project you've done throughout the course. Would definitely take this professor again.
Professor Boulet is top-notch for coding. Emphasis on individual projects via instructional videos, a significant grade component. Early extra credits and flexible pacing. Coding is straightforward with challenges. Don't hesitate to reach out for his help. One time I forgot my mouse, he lent me his mouse during class, that was really nice of him!
He's a java expert, but good luck getting him to answer emails, because this professor doesn't answer at all.
unsure where these good reviews are coming from. he is a nice human but as a professor these reviews dont do the justice. his class is extremely hard and so easy to fall back since he gives big assignments EVERY. WEEK. taking his class and keeping up is a full time job itself. the final project was so so uncoordinated & hard. dont take him please!!
I don't know what these past reviews are.I took him at the end of 2022 and it was awful. He had two sections, for ours he would only give 1 class per week, and it was to only "answer questions" Just post recordings FROM HIS OTHER SECTION, gets mad and responds rude if you asks questions about the video. Doesn't answer emails, HW before the semester
Prof. Boulet is a great professor. You just have to do all the work before deadline. That's all easy A.He is very helpful. It will be tough to get help because at the end everyone is desperate to finish those HW and ask for help.Remember more HW will be added as you go forward. He is a great and nice professor.
A lot of videos, new assignments every week, he is helpful in classes when you do questions, good professor but he can be better as providing syllabus and not changing final last minute.
Great professor that allowed us to set our own pace with assignments. He posted the majority of assignments at the beginning of the semester with video instructions, allowing you to complete them within the first month of class if you really wanted to. He's really helpful within class too. Beware, he is hard to get to via email. Overall very solid.
One of the best professor of CityTech. I loved his class.
I took him for 3 classes, you have videos that you have to follow and mimic which teach you about the topic, If you're on a Mac it might be harder cause he's on Windows and you need to setup some databases. He talks more about the industry and how to implement best practices. If you want to be a software engineer, this is the professor to take.
I took this class with another professor and dropped it twice. Professor Boulet clearly defines his standards and lectures with the same attitude. The lectures are videos and very helpful because I can replay them as often as needed. He is also readily available if you have any questions or need help.
