She is very energetic! Shes crazy! Lets just say she hasn't had a TV in 26 years! Plant Taxonomy is running through the mud in the woods picking leaves for 4 hours every monday! Be prepared to learn 300 vocab and 120 plant genus species and families!
Jumps all over the place. Has no continuous train of thought. Hard tests that she does not really prepare you for.
The labs are fun but long. LOTS OF MEMORIZATION LOTS! Interesting but hard, really hard. Lots of work!
Hard as hell. lots of work
She is great with explanations. Gives LOTS of extra-credit opportunites!
Very excited about Bio and plants! Willing to help. Holds her own review sessions in addition to the SI sessions before tests! Fair grader! Fair with quizes. WONDERFUL TEACHER!!!! HIGH RECOMENDATIONS!!
Very enthusiastic...pretty difficult tests but she offers a lot of help =)
Her tests are so hard. She makes them that way to trip up her students. The extra credit that she offers does not help at all because you have to be "borderline" in order for the extra credit to actually count.
Very entusiastic about what she's teaching and always willing to help
Worst professor I've ever had.
very knowledgeable but should not teach 102; tests were difficult, almost designed to trip students up; not a very nice person; class is interesting but she moves very fast; highly unrecommended!!!!
knows her subject very well, but will screw you on grades. i think that she would divorce her husband and marry a plant.
I liked her but damn.Very hard. Thanks to her I am no longer in science.I was in class everyday and barely made a C, which I shouldn't have. EC-lots. But wow a difficult class for sure
She loves plants and keeps the class interesting because she loves them so much. (She covers more plant material than animal material.) She makes you think more in depth so you actually learn the material instead of just memorizing it!
Everett is the devil! She makes the tests rediculously hard, and the extra credit does not help!
SHES a GREAT PROF!!! if u r gonna take plant taxonomy u KNOW its gonna b a real tough class BUT she makes it so much fun! shes a GREAT LADY, fun and energetic. i made a GOOD GRADE thanks to her!

A plant FREAK !! its a hard class, but shes a really nice lady. and really really loves plants..
Dr.Everette is a nice lady and attempts to make class interesting. The labs are a lot of fun but her test are the worst in the world. They are too long and there is never enough time to finish. Unless you dream about plants every night don't take her!
STAY AWAY! I BEG YOU! She is the worst professor at this college. She never stays on topic.
She IS a great lady and does have a heart. I wish half the prof had her enthusiasm. She is smart and loves what she does. Keeps it interesting. Tests are tough, but the grading % is broken up so much its hard to do really bad. 5% for participation!
Dr. Everett was a great professor when I took her for botany. Very enthusiastic and helpful. Her enthusiasm made th class fun even though there were so many notes to take. The tests were too long and kind of difficult. She also talked too fast.
i liked her until she screwed me on my grade. i went into her final with like a 95, was there for every day that she took attendance, which is extra credit...messed up a little on my final and the stupid lady gave me a b+. im still bitter..she sucks
Unless you are into plants do not take her. She makes 112 a class alomst entirely about botany. I hate plants and I hate her!!! Her tests are way too hard and long. She needs to get a life. Plants suck and she sucks! Don't take her for 112.
Dr. Everett is fantastic A+! She is extremely enthusiastic and completely conveys her love of nature. Her class is challenging and her tests are comprehensive. You will come away with a new respect for the environment.
yeah okay definitely loves plants. not doubting that. she's very nice, and actually cares. very hard though. you'll learn a LOT but might not get a good GPA. and...she loves plants. a lot.
The best, really!
If u want to keep your scholarship i suggest u not take her class. Her tests were like torture (very long and hard). The highest grade i got on any of her test was a 68 and that was with 10 points extra credit. It wasn't a surprise that the easiest test was the one on plants.
What you give is what you get. Dr. E is fair and honest. Good students will do well, bad students will not. A love for Botany (or at least an interest) is assumed, so make sure you like plant biology. I think she reads these comments so why not give her a chili pepper?
DO NOT TAKE HER!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
Dr. E is a great teacher, if a little hard. She is very clear and tells you that she expects a lot on the first day. We learned 150 plants by family, genus, and species (and spelling counts) and a lot look alike. Only take her if you love plants, but she's really nice & helpful too!
Dr. E is awesome. If you are a whiner who expects A's w/ no work then u will be dissapointed. If you want to learn a lot from a cool lady who has a lot to offer and you are willing to work hard then you will love her. A great teacher for anybody who loves nature and the outdoors and most of all LOVES BIOLOGY!!!
this class was the best i have ever taken at the college. she knows so much about plants and i learned so much more than i have ever learned in any class. awesome lady.

If you are not a professional botanist, this class is not for you. If Yyu're not aspiring to be a professional botanist, this class is not for you. The lecture tests are manageable, however the labs require much time and effort. You must love plants to pass this class.
Worst professor in the history of this college. Her tests are impossible. She grades papers as though we were PhD students. Can never live up to her expectations. Plays favorites really bad. Not the slightest bit of a democracy-total dictatorship! She will make your semester miserable. Only advice: do the lit. project instead of the field one.
She is passionate and knows her subject, but don't expect an A unless you have the time and the will to put in a lot of time for her class. Her labs are not very well-planned but interesting. Very bad at giving feedback...you'll be doing probjects and scientific article reviews ad naseum on your own so be ready!
Really, really, really a plant fanatic.Cannot express that enough.Class is never over on time, and she is really energetic in the woods- calls her students by saying "whoop whoop!!" Hard, interesting, and grueling- but overall, good class.Nice bonding w/ other students b/c of small class size and lengthy class time.
Great prof. loves her subject. labs are hard but not impossible. tests aren't to bad if you pay attention to her power points. really helpful and understanding.
A horrible professor that will make you hate the day. She assigns overbearing projects and then will grade them on different criteria. Don't ever say anything she does not like otherwise she will cut your grade for "bad attitude" She is the worst professor I have ever had.
horrible horrible horrible professor. her test are impossibe. she only knows things about plants and not anything about the other stuff you are suppose to cover in biology 112, but she still expects YOU to know it for the exam.
I hope the Biology majors who take this course didn't plan on going to med school.... She completely disregards anything unrelated to plants. She expects us the already know and understand the complex working of the human body since because we've been alive for 18+ years. Please avoid her if you don't plan on being a botanist.
Dr. Everett is a nice person but is VERY tough. If you take this class, plan on spending a lot of time studying the book and class notes which the test are mostly derived from. Not to include the fact that they are a killer.
Her tests were rediculously hard and she changed the curriculum halfway through the semester. The new curriculum was a LOT of work, i was working for about 4-5 hours a day for that class, and still wasn't getting the grade I deserved.
horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible. Everyone is right. Youd be better off not taking the class if she is all thats available. She doesnt care about your grades, and nothing that doesnt relate to plants. Good luck passing. She is rude and just a awful teacher. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!
The worst. Was so excited to take the class after 111 with Bidwell, and it all came to a screeching halt. Tests are impossible, she wants "application" but really means minute details rather than the actual concepts. Quizzes all the time just for attendance purposes. Psycho plant lady; if it didn't have cell walls, it didn't matter. DON'T TAKE HER.
she just sucks, talks to fast, test to hard, but gives alot of quizes to make up grades! if you get an B+ in this class, it would be a miracle!
crazy impossible tests, quizzes about 2 times a week, solely to make you come to class, insists that SI sessions help but even the SI leader admits shes crazy hard, self-admitting hardest biology teacher at the college, i've never gotten below an A in any science in my life, studied for 10 hours a week and BARELY pulled a B- test average...good luc
This is probably the worst professor ever. I think she lives to make your life miserable. She talks extremely fast and acts as if its a problem when you ask her to slow down a bit. Her tests are impossible...you will study forever and not see the results on the test! Avoid her at all costs!
She's very hard. Her quizzes are supposed to be just for "attendance" but are crazy sometimes. Her tests are MC but offer no relief. Often, there's more than one right answer and you have to choose the more right one. Plant-obsessive. Offers extra credit but it doesn't do any good. Avoid if you can.
WORST WORST WORST! Hands down, the most ridiculously hard class ever, to the point where it was so unnecessary. I like biology, and she made me hate it! Quizzes soley for attendance purposes and you can study for weeks and weeks for a test, but I can guarantee you that you most likely won't get any higher than a C. Avoid her at ALL costs!
Her tests are unnecessarily difficult & made to confuse. Questions have multiple correct answers depending on how you interpret the context of it. She makes a big show out of getting feedback from her students about what can be changed, but does nothing but shoot down or ridicule the comments she gets. She just gets defensive & incredulous.
HORRIBLE!!!! RUN for your life(and your GPA's sake) Seriously, the woman is evil. 80% of the class failed one of the tests and instead of realizing that it was her teaching and not our learning ability, just berated us for being stupid. I was throwing up for one of our labs so I didn't come and she gave me an F. Uncaring person and prof. JUST DON'T
I am a straight A student and she is the WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. Her tests are ridiculous and she makes the questions very confusing. She claims she wants our tests to be "learning tools" ITS A TEST!!! It's supposed to evaluate what you've learned, not torture you! If you have to take her class, I recommend SI and extra study time
Dr. E. is a very knowledgable, fun, and passionate professor. Except to study a great deal for this class if you want an A. Her tests and final are difficult, but if you know the material you shouldn't have any problems. Take many notes and CROSS-REFERENCE W/ YOUR TEXT. Pre-meds dislike here b/c they're too lazy to take a plant class seriously.
She's a really great person, and she really cares about the class, but she is extremely difficult. I took AP in highschool, got a B, a 4 on the ap test, and I'm barely scraping by with a C in the class. Prepare for hard work, come to class she quizzes all the time!!!! THE QUIZZES MAKE YOUR GRADE! Go to SI
DO NOT TAKE! Tests are like walking on hot coals. No matter how hard I studied, I still did awful. If you value your GPA, run away, far far away!
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!! DO NOT TAKE!
For your sake, avoid her. She makes you do stupid projects that you know are never going to come to fruition. She always second guesses herself during lectures. Oh, and her tests are ridiculous. Overall this class is a waste of time.
Do not be intimidated! The class is not as bad as most people make it out to be. Lectures are straight from the text, but attendance is mandatory. You must read the text, several times. Also, go to si.
I don't know how she teaches 112, but it's clear that the majority of 112er's aren't happy.I didn't have her for 112 but I do have her for 301. She's a nice lady(but does have radical political beliefs, too PC). You do have to study a lot, but this is COLLEGE people!! Tests are not out of left field, if you actually study. Give her a break.
"Whoop Whoop!"-> Most favorite class class. Fun field trips..if you take this class, try to ride with Dr. E if you can..always helpful for the quiz. Just don't challenge her...ever..haha
AVOID HER!She isnt a bad person but when majority of a class FAILS tests there is something wrong with her teaching method and her tests are ridiculous! And don't ever miss class! Even if she says that you will be fine to miss that one day when you ASK her She will still give a quiz! Quiz's are IMPORTANT! Brought my grade from a C to a D!
Do not take her. Her test are impossible. She gives too much details and expects too much out of 112 students. Avoid Her!
This is the worste teacher ever. All she cares about is stupid plants and she doesnt care about how students do in her class. No matter how much you study it is not going to help you on the test. I advise you to stay far away from this teacher.
Where do I begin! First off, just stay away from this class it is ridiculous and you won't pass if you take her. She does give extra credit, but she does need someone to pass her class or else that looks bad. She is overly obsessed with plants, so unless you really like plants I would not suggest taking her. Test are really really difficult!
Oh my! I will start by saying good luck! She clicks through slides SO fast, you have no time to write any notes. Test are ONLY critical thinking and extremely hard! Does give extra credit just so someone in the class will pass. Gives quizzes when there is low attendance so you must go to class cause they count 25% Learn to LOVE plants like she does
Really smart lady, knows her stuff. If you like plants, you'll love her. If you don't, maybe not so much. She's really nice, although pretty quirky and goofy. But class is never boring and the field trips are pretty fun. 300 terms, over 100 plant species, so be prepared to learn ALOT about plants! Really energetic and wants her students to be, too.
not very nice.. makes everything much harder than needed.. i would NOT recommend her ever.. i am a bio major and she made me hate the semester... yikes!
Incredibly smart and passionate woman. Do not mistake this for mean and impossible. She helps those who help themselves. Love and miss her dearly
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! This has been my worst experience in college thus far. Test are extremely hard. Three out of the four answers are correct but you have to pick which one she likes best. Extra credit is the only way to pass this class. Everyone drops during the first week. Obama and plant obsessed!
Utterly horrible experience. Professor comes across as confrontational and unapproachable. She treats students as if she is doing them a favor by teaching the course. Average test scores for the class are dismal at best. Extra credit seems to be the only way to pass the course. I recommend finding another professor if you plan on taking this class.
Avoid this prof/course combination at all costs. She treats this course as if she is doing you a favor by showing up. Her lectures are difficult to take notes on and her review materials are practically worthless. Also, she doesn't follow the text. Better yet, tests are crammed with subjective/trick questions which are often poorly worded at best.
Very tough professor and class, but will prepare you for upper level BIO classes. If you're a BIO major take her and you'll be better off in the long run. Dr Everett's goal, like many of the science professors, is to improve your critical thinking skills, except her class actually does. More than willing to help, if your putting forth the effort.
She is such a wonderful person and a great teacher. She truly cares about her students. If you like plants you will LOVE this class, if you don't it is a little bit harder to get into but just go with it and you will find that you can appreciate it.
lectures difficult.they are online but she doesnt post the answers to the critical thinking questions until the day before the test and the diagrams for the test on powerpoint cannot be downloaded by student version so she says to google them. most of semester content is on plants.test were insanely difficult with a CLASS average of a D
Would not recommend. Test are poorly worded, and it's almost as though she thrives off trick questions. She isn't sure half the time of what she's saying, and it seems the only way to truly pass is to do the extra credit. I felt as though I read the book and attempted to teach myself, she explains things so complicated that it's hard to understand.
Hard teacher. Would not reccomend taking her class. The tests are extremely hard, im an A student and made D's on every test before she added the 10 extra credit points. Average on tests were very low. She teaches from her lecture slides but tests from the book only! so make sure you read from the book... not that, that helps much. BEWARE!!
She is an awful teacher. The class average on tests were around a 50, going up to a 60 after the 10 point extra credit. Her lectures were extremely boring and her love of plants tended to become quite annoying. Suck up to her and maybe you'll do better. Overall, I came in loving biology and walked out hating it. Expect to teach yourself the materia
Dr. Everett is a dedicated, passionate teacher who challenges her students to think critically. She is not easy, but she is effective. I initially doubted her teaching style (I'm a big skeptic), but now I am a believer! I now have more confidence when taking "critical thinking" exams and I am very grateful to her for that. I highly recommend her.
Dr Everett is a great teacher. Her courses are challenging but any college student should be able to handle the work. I think she is very amusing and i have truly enjoyed her course and i am not usually one to like classes. As long as you keep up with work there is no reason you cant do well. I would take any class of hers.
Passionate, enthralling teacher. Loves her subject and inspires her students. Of course, if you are looking for an easy A, I suggest someone else. But if you love to learn, please do not miss this opportunity. A wonderful teacher.
To provide you with an earnest warning: when Everett grades, she grades subjectively. Let me clarify: 1. she doesn't provide information about which questions you miss on tests (scanTron);2. she will avoid questions post-test that threaten the integrity of her grading;3. she will have favorites, she is not professional/subtle about this. Good luck.
I would have recommended her to anyone interested in actually learning the material and to those planning on attending professional school. However, she is extremely rude, politically opinionated, and hypocritical. Her class is hard but you can do well - putting up with her crap is a different story. Not worth it!
While she's very passionate about biology, I came into the class with a huge interest (biology is my major) and almost ended up hating it. Professor Everett provides too much information almost to the point where its hard to keep up...tests were impossible for me and even talking to her one on one was not helpful...def take a different professor...
Dr. Everett is an awesome teacher! She is passionate about what she does. You will learn a lot. If you are willing to study you should do well in her class. I would recommend her to any student:)
Extremely difficult. If you like Biology but not Botany, don't take this course. You will mostly be dealing with plants. Very interested in her students and wants them to do well, but very unfair grader. Designs tests to trick you, not to test knowledge. Would not recommend.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Her test are extremely hard and she doesn't even teach the information on the test. She says that she "expects a lot from her students" but she fails to realize that her tests are worded VERY tricky and the information on the power points are not very helpful.
Dr. Everett is a hard teacher but a knowledgable one. She is very interested in her class and it makes it much more enjoyable. Her tests are hard but the class is not impossible, just have to put some work into it. She also offers many extra credit opportunities.
Dr. Everett is a great professor, she is VERY difficult and challenging, she will definitely prepare you for higher bio classes, you MUST read everything, her notes, her slides(could be key to tricky questions)&the book,I personally used the book alot.she is VERY helpful and I thought she was fair when it comes to grading she curved everyone's grades
I took this class last semester and had to study an ample amount. However, I learned so much and retained all of the information. She is so passionate about what she does and she is willing to help you in every way. I highly recommend taking her for Biology 112
Prof. Everett is an okay professor, but really difficult exam-wise. She has a tendency to word questions in a way that tricks the test-taker and also is easily steered off-topic during lecture. Not an easy class; proceed with caution if you aren't a Bio major.
VERY in depth class. She focus' on students understanding the material, not just memorizing. Very big into critical thinking and applying the knowledge we're learning to the real world. To pass, attend all her classes, go to SI meetings, and print out the outlines posted on her website and fill them out through the semester.
Type of professor where if you work hard and have perfect attendance, you can get a C. Don't expect an A or B. Exams worded in a way that even when you know that material well, you can't be sure of the answer. Lecture and PPT's are unhelpful. Cheating going on, but expected when students feel hopeless. When you tell students they will fail-they do.
DO NOT TAKE HER! She is a horrible teacher & has no compassion for students who care about their grade! I went to her several times during the semester for advice since I did not understand what was going on and she only told me "relate it to the world around you." Even at Add/Drop time she didn't suggest me dropping the class, Which I should have!
THIS TEACHER IS INSANE! she has no idea what an animal is. All she cares about are plants. We spent over half of our class on plants and then cut out many of the essential animal systems that we will need for other classes. She refuses to listen to reason about her trick questions and don't try to bring it up to her.I only wish I could write more.
Dr. Everett is so obsessed with plants that she is incapable of teaching the rest of the material. She openly admits she doesn't understand animal systems, and goes on 15+min random tangents. She designs tests to trick, including questions on things never gone over in the class or in the book, and refuses to discuss the validity of her questions.
I wouldn't recommend taking this class unless you are already pretty good at bio or have a strong interest in the subject. She LOVES plants and spends WAY too much time talking about them. Tests are really hard. She gave us 10-15 extra credit points on all three of tests because everyone failed. Pop quizzes almost every week.
I am a bio major and I absolutely love Bio, yet Everett made me HATE going to her class. She goes extremely fast through her lectures and won't slow down , and her test are impossible. I am a great student and study a lot and knew everything in the book and on her powerpoint and STILL the highest grade I got was a 66. DONT TAKE HER, GPA KILLER.
Dr. Everett will give you a good understanding of plants in her plant taxonomy course. She is interested in students and will give you time. She is passionate and relatively interesting, but she has a lot of little fettishes that make class much more difficult. She can also be personal and aggressive to students. She is very hard.
Although many students disliked her class, if you have a passion for biology, it is very interesting. Dr. E is very passionate, and although her tests are difficult, she gives extra credit; sometimes even for just showing up to class. Don't leave class early or she will take attendance. EC SI offered each test (10 pts). Pop quizzes are common.
I had to get this to work on a degree in exercise science. Was not prepared to spend most of the semester talking about plants. If you take this class, be prepared to study and study hard. And also talk a lot about plants . . .
Class is fun. Dr. Everett is crazy but in a good way. lab quizzes are really hard and make up a large part of your grade. kinda hard to take notes in class because she goes so fast. I struggle in the class but probably due to my lack of interest in the subject. But I am glad i took this class, what an experience!
Dr. Everett is an amazing professor. She knows plants and her excitement for them is contagious. Would definitely recommend everyone to take Plant Tax with her. Not only do you learn A LOT of plants, but there importance to our local area. A lot of studying is involved but she will let you know what will be on each exam and leave you inspired.
She goes over material SUPER fast and has a strong love for plants so doesn't really help with much other than that part of the semester. All her tests are multiple choice but incredibly hard and written in a way to confusetrick you. Gives 10pts EC after every test if you go to SI to go over the test with everyone else.
You have to teach yourself all of the lectures. The only reason you need to go to class is because she gives pop quizzes. Her lectures are not helpful because she goes way too fast. Expect to spend the entire week before the test studying.
If you can avoid this lady, avoid her. She makes you hate biology, and hate plants. She breezes over long detailed lectures and expects you to test like a junior in college when you are a freshman. Her test are applicationcritical thinking, but she does not practice critical thinking well during class. Her test are terribly hard.
She is a very nice lady, and is always there to help. She is also very understandable if you are having issues of any type. The tests are still about application, so it is not easy. She also does go through the slides very fast, so do not bother wasting your time to take notes. Listen instead and you should be fine!
Dr. Everette was not as scary as I thought she was going to be. She teaches quickly because there is a lot of material to cover and her tests are REALLY hard! She offers extra credit like it is candy so make sure to do it! She is obsessive over plants and can't tell the difference between a seal and a manatee. Pretty nice lady
I personally though she was a great Prof. I learned a lot and although struggled in class she offered a lot of Extra Credit. She goes EXTREMELY fast in lecture so print the slides and write what she is saying rather than copy the slides. If poss. record lecture. Very passionate about what she does and I hope to take her again in the future.
SOS. This class was ridiculous . I love science, but I have never hated a class more. Professor Everett comes up with a really hard, long, equation to calculate your grades which the whole class didn't understand. Barely anyone in the class does well on the tests probably because she speeds through the material super quick and doesn't explain well.
Stay away from this class. I studied everyday, taught myself all of the material from the textbook bc her lectures were so unclear. She is very scatterbrained. I didn't mind her as a person until a family emergency came up & I had to miss 1 class. This was the ONLY time I had missed all semester & she wouldn't excuse it for almost 3 weeks following
The only best bio classes taken since college. Lectures organized. Prof opens to Qs. Field trips best part of my semester. Study for name quizes &3 terms lists EARLY and it'd be much more managable, even easy. TAKE HER if you want to learn, avoid if you want A for no work(in that case you might as well give up the dream u'd b succesful altogether)
Dr. Everett is really passionate about what she teaches. She flies through lectures so I don't recommend trying to write what's on the slides. Her tests are really hard and require critical thinking. She is always eager to help when you ask and she gives a lot of extra credit to boost your grade. I highly recommend taking her.
DODGE HER NOW. NOW. NOW. Her tests are RIDICULOUS, and she uses some crazy grading formula and you'll never know her grade. She is out to get you. You study for hours and know the material but she tricks you on the test and you will not get a good grade. Anybody BUT HER.
Her lectures are incredibly confusing, and she does not care about any other material except the plant section. She does not hand assignments back on time and she does not seem to care. Also her tests are incredibly difficult and she is tries to trick you on the multiple choice questions. I would not recommend taking any of her classes.
I actually quite liked Dr. Everett, she was willing to help and gave some extra credit. But as an individual who is not great at test taking, I was pretty much doomed. She gave 3 exams and a final and each was more confusing and difficult than the last. The time I put into the class was certainly not reflected in my grade.
Really awesome person and teacher. It's not a super easy class but I think the grade really reflects how much work you put in. She's very willing to help and is very passionate about the plant section. I will definitely try to take her again.
She was a nice professor, but expect pop quizzes frequently, especially at the end of the semester. She has a large test bank of tests and quizzes but they never change. Her test questions are very much application and evaluation. The book wasn't needed but if you need the extra understanding, use the book. She gives extra credit when you go so SI
The hardest class I've ever taken in my 3 years of college. Though I learned a lot in this class, this class was absolutely miserable. Pop quizzes and tests seem nearly impossible if you don't study 24/7. Only take this class if you're REALLY interested in plants and you can put at least 6 hours a day studying- don't take if you need a bio credit.
I like Dr Everett as a person/find her very genuine in that respect. As a professor, I wish I had never taken this class. The time and effort I put into the material never reflected the grade I got which is discouraging. as someone who works 2 jobs and school this stressed me out constantly. She also will purposely phrase questions to trick you
Dr. Everett is a corky and passionate professor. Although her tests are very difficult, if you pay attention in class/READ the book, you will make a good grade. She offers ten points on the tests just for going to SI, and offers extra credit throughout the semester. Everett definitely makes you work for your grade, but an A can be achieved.
Run. Awful professor. Would have been better off taking the course online- teaching myself the material without pop quizzes. Hardest class in my 3 years of college. Absolutely ridiculous.
Yeah she gives 10 pts on the test if you go to SI, but that wouldn't be necessary if she actually taught the subject matter in an understandable way. Her quizzes are relentless and none of the info can be found online, on her power points, or heard during her lectures so good luck on that.
The only good review on here is by her Supplemental Instructor.
apparently she was much better in 2003
Dr. Everett is definitely passionate about her subject, but I do not think her teaching style would agree with many students. Her powerpoints and lectures won't help you on the test and reading the book is necessary, but regardless of how hard you try in the class, if you're not good with multiple choice exams, don't expect a good grade.
Class is a sick joke. Lectures are useless outside of getting pop quizzes. I haven't learned a single thing in class, because its a powerpoint reading with auctioneer speeds. No pages listed for suggested readings. No diagrams in the online notes. Tests are absolute garbage, with questions that aren't in the notes, or come down to pure semantics
got an A without the book and with some effort.
She is a tough professor and you will not make easy A's or B's. This class takes up a lot of your time and if you want to do well you need to make sure you do not take classes that also requires you to put a lot of time into them. She doesn't throw surprises at you, so what you need to study for tests and quizzes are pretty clear.
RUN! I put in a lot of time studying but I couldn't pass a single test in this class. The lectures have little to nothing to do with the test, it's more about semantics. She words the questions in a way that is designed to trick you. Even though you fully understand a topic, you'll probably fail the test on it. There's also a million pop quizzes.
Do not take this teacher. Biology was my strong subject and favorite class up until I had her. She ruined it for me, mostly talks about politics and rants in class. Tests are insanely hard, I did not pass a single one. She gives a lot of quizzes also, I even went to her office hours and she was NO help at all. Do not recommend her to anyone
RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN!!!!! Our class average on our plants test was a 55%, trust me, find another professor. She's insanely knowledgable, but she doesn't realize that not everyone has the phD or the passion for this subject like she does. She tries to trick you on about every question on the test too. beware
She goes super fast during lectures so literally just invest in a recorder or something because she wont stop for you.
I LOVE dr everett. if you put in a decent amount of effort then you will do fine in this class. i am definitely looking to take more of her classes in the future.
This is by far the worst class I have ever taken!! Prof. Everrett has absolutely no idea what she is doing as an introduction to Biology prof. class. She barley covers any material other than botany, which is her specialty. If you love biology DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
On the first day of class, Dr. Everett told us not to believe everything we read on rate my professor. I really wish I had. The test questions are not designed to test your knowledge; they are designed to confuse you. She spent so much time talking about plants that we got behind. She lectures super quickly and will not slow down for anyone.
Dr E is a passionate lady who wants people to care. She reuses a test bank each semester with some random questions she may not have taught on. To make a good grade, use your text book, quizzes she gives, & online bio practice quizzes. Do not rely on JUST lecture notes. I made a 58 on a test & still made an -A in the class. Hard but not impossible.
The worst professor Ive ever had. Once she covered an entire chapter in 1 day (the class right before the test) and had a whole page of questions on it. Shes impossible to access outside of class, her powerpoints are useless, and she wastes most classes lecturing about veganism
Dr Everett is very passionate about her work, however she expects us to be just as passionate as well. Lectures are quick and not very detailed. She expects us to completely understand the material as her exams are extremely difficult and require an extensive knowledge gained outside of the lectures. Good luck and complete all of her extra credit!
I've never hated a biology class in my life. She doesn't teach, she talks, and never slows down. she requires you to understand things that will never be presented on exams. She never prepares you for any of the exams either. Also if you have to give a disclaimer about online comments on your class than something is clearly wrong.
Very hard professor. Lectures are weak and not very clear, she goes way too fast. The lectures are the simplest in terms and the test questions are beyond what was discussed in class. I relied on the textbook and department study guides for this class. I would not suggest taking her.
Goes way too fast, does not understand technology, lectures are weak, ppt are ridiculously long and scattered and confusing no clear study guides or chapters, she seems very hard to contact and very scatterbrained but she gives a lot of tests, does not show you your grades or keep track of chapters we talk about
Would not take a class with her again, complained about covid and even though we signed up for a in person class it took almost the whole semester to even get to that point. Just reads straight from the power points, doesn't use oaks, and the test have some stuff from the power points but not everything.
THERES ONLY TESTS.
Not even kidding, the worst professor I have ever had. Easily turned my 4.0 major GPA into a 3. She turned simple topics into massive headaches, quizzes were worth more than exams, and its not like you can even make up the grades because you only have quizzes and exams anyways. Good thing she's retiring, she should have done that 40 years ago.
Dr. Everett may be the most difficult professor Ive ever had. Her class was notes and lecture heavy, the notes are not explanatory and are difficult to understand. The quizzes and exams are designed to trick students with concepts that were not covered in class. She is not accessible and unwilling to explain or answer your questions.
Do NOT take this class. Tests are worth 60% of your grade - there are only 3 tests. Quizzes are 15% final exam is 15%. Impossible. She's very nice, but her teaching is not good. Thank god she's retiring. Tests and quizzes are made to trip you up and select the wrong answers. Extra credit is only used if you are on the line of two letter grades.
Absolutely horrible professor. Just reads off the power points but over half of the tests are not even on the power points and barely mentioned in the book. Tests are all short answer, our entire class failed our first exam and half failed the second. Uncaring professor. DO NOT TAKE! Worst professor I have had in my four years at CofC just horrible
Took this class my first year and she is the worst teacher in the department. She only reads off of the powerpoint which are over 100 slides per lecture. She also uses pictures on powerpoint but will only send students powerpoints without the pictures because she is scared of copy right. Tests are tricky and hard.
She is absolutely horrible. Im taking her my first year first semester and she is absolutely horrid. Her test requires you to have outside knowledge and really understand the material. Her PowerPoints are without the pictures she shows in class and are about 150+ slides and she speeds through them without detail. Her test are super hard.
Absolutely horrible. Most of the class went to the department chair about her but he wouldn't do anything bc they are friends. Tests are on info not covered in class, she acts like students are stupid when asking questions, VERY uncaring and impossible to pass. The entire class has failed at least 2 of our 3 exams. DO NOT TAKE HER SHE IS HORRIBLE!!
