Excellent speaker, his explanations are very thorough, and he does a great job clarifying anything you may have misunderstood. His expectations are very high, and it takes quite a bit of effort to get a good mark. Also, watch out for his pop quizes!

Jean-Paul is awesome. He will take the time to help you, all you need to do is take your time and ask him yourself. He is clear and thorough. A great teacher, he should tutor Betty Young.

Very thorough with explanations, properly walked students through required steps, gave "business" perspective on course material... however, more assistance with assignments would have been nice.

He is more than willing to help students who help themselves(but don't expect him to help you if you skip class and haven't done your work). His classes are worth attending and he is eager to help students learn.

I have no clue what my classmates are talking about below. JP provides detailed handouts and couldn't be more clear in what he wants from us. He is VERY knowledgeable and if other students would listen, they could learn a lot. He marks hard but at least he is fair.

JP did an excellent job teaching us math. He was so helpful and I don't know what these people are talking about, they obviously didn't get the marks they wanted and are now making excuses. He doesn't make anyone feel stupid. He is always telling us that if we need help, come to him or ask questions. He is the best teacher!

Had Jean Paul for Business Math. Difficult course to begin with, but it's easy to get an A or B as long as you keep up with the work,attend class, and do the lyryx assignments mutiple times! If you have difficulties, Jean Paul is really patient and very willing to help you out.

Jean Paul is a fun energetic teacher eho makes it fun to learn again but at some points gives out way to many lyrix labs to the point of near insanity. But this becomes helpfull when writting exams

Bit of a speech impediment which can be distracting, overall seems to like what he does. Doesn't take comments as well as some other profs.

I hear he's great for math, but he's really not good for marketing. He's a nice guy, tries to help you out, but he's not great at teaching the marketing material. He marks really hard.

He made it very clear, and was easy to understand. He kept a steady pace throughout the year. He paid attention to the class to see if the were keeping up with inclass lessons. Uses very simple easy to understand examples that make learning the make learning the material easy if you put the effort in.

Jean-Paul is a fantastic Stats teacher! He takes a complicated topic, breaks it down and makes it understandable. Highly recommend taking Stats with him!

Best math teacher I have had. He does a great job of explaining the concepts and doing textbook examples as class.

Not a fan of math, but JP is AMAZING and he makes math tolerable. Go out of your way to have him as an instructor.

JP is an amazing instructor. I took business math with him and choose to take statistics because he was teaching it. He explains everything in detail. He takes you through step by step with examples from the book and covers all types of contingencies. This is not an easy course, but you can get an A if you follow his instructions & do the homework.

Math has never been a strong subject for me. J.P. managed to make this course very clear and understandable for me. I have a new found appreciation for time lines. I recommend him to anyone taking business and financial mathematics.

JP is a great teacher. Emphasis on the TEACH. He will stay late and spend time with any students that need it. Very lively lectures, and he manages to keep interest in a "boring" class. Business Mathematics can be a tough course for first year students, especially if you're not math inclined. Take JP's advice and use the e-text constantly.

Jean-Paul provides clear explanations and has provided me with a lot of help, but I found some of the topics themselves to be a little difficult to wrap my head around. He provides extremely detailed lectures. What the topic is, how to use it, whywhen you'd use it, and everything else. Great instructor.

The class itself is a bit difficult and there is lots of material to cover but JP does a good job at ensuring your success in the course. He is very enthusiastic, happy and really knows his stuff. I enjoyed having him as an instructor.

This was a very hard course (at least for me) I can't imagine having another teacher for this class, he was amazing. I never felt stupid in his class, and he always had a lot of enthusiasm towards the course and the content itself. Made class fairly fun. Excellent teacher, highly recommend.

Very easy if you show up and keep up with some homework, fall behind and its on you. He makes the best of a dry subject but is an incredible teacher and really makes you understand.

Jean Olivier is an amazing teacher. He made financial math easier to understand. Like he said, you need to learn how to walk before you can run. To which he did just that, he explained the formulas before he even introduced the calculator method. Attending his lectures everyday makes studying a lot easier. He is the definition of a teacher.

JP's teaching style isn't for everyone. Most people either love his style or can't learn from him. He explains everything step-by-step. This course moves quickly, even though attendance isn't mandatory, you shouldn't miss. He is fun and silly but also very nerdy. And brilliant! Also, a stickler for the rules!

He is a great instructor. There is lot's of homework and every class is a new subject. If you skip two classes in a week is enough to get lost in the content. He has a great method of grade the class, based on tests plus the midterms and finals.

JP is A great teacher. The man LOVES stats, and does a very good job of explaining things. It's no secret that stats isn't the easiest or the most fun, but I didn't dread it each day like I expected. It seems as though he is a bit harder of a marker than other stats teachers at RR, but I'm pretty sure it's just because he knows the material better.

Approachable and friendly. deep knowledge about the course. A good communicator, very effective in relaying knowledge and information. A good sense of humor which made statistics fun and interesting. Talks little bit fast sometimes though. But overall experience with him is superb. I strongly recommend to take his class.

Definitely a smart guy and he obviously knows the course stone cold but occasionally goes off about cool statistical concepts that aren't really relevant. Can probably get away with not doing the homework as long as you show up for class, he teaches the material well.

Great teacher, but he's a TOUGH marker. If you are off by decimal place its wrong, you can be right but if your off even at most slightly you are wrong, doesn't let anything slide like other teachers. Anyone who hasn't done math for a long period may find his class to be a little bit overwhelming. I believe you should be OK as long as you complete your reading and practice assignments. He imparts knowledge in a succinct manner in order to cut down on misunderstandings. He gives fantastic examples.

This class goes at a fast pace and if you haven't done math for awhile you may struggle. JP is willing to answer specific questions or clarify things if you show you're putting in effort. This course required quite a bit of outside of class work (studying, practice math questions) to keep up with the material learned in lectures.

Jean-Paul is an instructor that goes above and beyond to ensure his students fully understand the material and gives real-world examples to show you how it will all work when you're out in the workforce. I would highly recommend taking MATH-3014 Statistical Analysis at RRC with Jean-Paul.

Plenty of sample problems are done in class to explain the material in simple steps. I felt prepared going into exams because the material was so similar to what was covered in lectures. It's evident JP cares about the material from the custom powerpoint slides and willingness to answer questions in class. He gets you to love financial calculators!

It's clear this is a subject Jean-Paul loves based on his enthusiasm. He lectures with examples and shortcuts for real world applications from a management perspective. The material can be challenging to wrap your head around sometimes, but he'll answers your questions if you ask them early. It takes effort outside of class by studying to get an A.

JP's energetic lectures are styled in a way that have you follow along in Excel with sample problems in class. If you find yourself confused, speak up or send him an email! He wants his students to succeed and listens to constructive feedback. It's not an easy A, but it's an enjoyable class because of how much JP loves statistics.
