By far the worst teacher I ahve ever had! He is extreamly rude and dosen't teach you a thing. The entire class he sits there and voices his opinon and argues with other students whom feel differntly then him. I DO NOT recommend this teacher!
He's horrible!!!
this was the absolute worst professor EVER!!!!! he makes all his students do all his work, he is very lazy. he makes you hand in everything the last day, so i don't think he even grades our papers.
Unprofessional. He likes to talk about himself more than economics. I want to know where he got his teaching license from. You will not learn anything in this class. He is Very Lazy.
The worst teacher I have ever taken! I learned nothing in the class--a complete waste of time! He passed all his work off onto the students so he didn't have to put any effort into the class. Do NOT take a class from this teacher!!
I took Macro & Micro. He responds only if you are prepared and ask thoughtful questions. One paper & one test will sucker a procrastinator. Good students do well. His style better suited for upper division. He does his best but works 3 jobs.
I am a honor student and have been going to PBCC full time for two years, I took this teacher my last semester there and he is by far the most unhelpful, unclear, and most disrespectful teacher I have met! He is not dedicated to his job at all.
Horrific experience! He's very intimating, at times rude, and makes you stay until the last minute. Get anyone else.
The man is very clear and decisive about his lessons, when ever you dont understand something, you do have an opportunity to ask. You people who are rating this man are bunch of lazy cows who can't stand learning.. nonthing is free..
He is the worst, a nightmare I don't even learn a thing in his class he thinks he is GOD and everything he says is perfect.Don't take him ever or your life will be miserable.
I don't want to belittle him but just offer him some advice from a student's perspective. Being pessimistic doesn't help the students when half a class failed a midterm and you state in front of the class how you weren't surprised. That's not very professional on your part. GOOD LUCK!
by far, the WORST teacher i have ever had, he doesn't teacher, he is very belitteling, intimidating, rude at times, he thinks he so above everyone b/c he is teaching you, never relates to you, never responds to email, its almost like he couldn't be botherd teaching, if you want a big fat F, hes the guy to take
I will have to agree with the others.I did not like the class at all. I did not understand this method of so called teaching very unclear and when you had a question his answer was"READ THE CHAPTER AGAIN".I guess I forgot that in order to take his class I would have to be an expert in the subject forget that(sorry ran out of room but you get the pi
I was scared this class first, but I understood his teaching style soon. So I really enjoyed his class. Tests is not easy, but if you read the text book deeply, you can get at least B. Also paper project is very important for your grade. Even if you get poor grade on the exam, the paper would help you. Try to be smart in the class! Good Luck!!
Just another arogant, condensending, phd loud mouth, has no respect for others. Don't take him.
This class wouldn't be so bad if I actually read the book. I came out with a B and my research paper was pretty bad. I studied so freaking much for the final though. The class is so BORING! I can't even begin to describe how much I felt like screaming in the middle of class. Not recommended if you can find other professors with better ratings.
This guy is no fun, he does not help you. the tests are always different, he has no pattern. the good thing is he gave us tests reviews, approx 6-7pages, of only 20 questions came from . PREPARE TO WORK HARD, USE ECON TUTORS
He's a very respectable, knowledgeable, and energetic professor who can be quite amusing at times. His tests are a little tough--you have to pretty much understand the concepts perfectly to pass, which isn't a very hard thing to do if you listen to his lectures AND read the book (twice). If you want to learn and work, take it. If not, then don't.
I got an A in this class and I'm only 16, so anyone can do it if you try. He is fun to be in class because he's excited about the subject. He's a great teacher and very easy to understand. He gives great review packets and you will never see a question on the test that wasn't on the review. :)
fun teacher. knows his subject. very energetic. you have to read the book. Be able to learn on your own.
Incredibly helpful and knowledgable. Some students may not like that he doesnt give away grades, but he will prepare you for the real world. He has been a mentor and has given me great advice. I only wish I could take another class with him, but I am finished at PBCC. If you want to learn to be a student, Dr. Lafalaise will get you there.
This guy is absolutely the most unhelpful and egocentric teacher I have ever taken. Expect to read A LOT and understand every detail on your own before thinking of achieving a decent test grade. He attempts to give you some kind of a “review” in which there is very little of on the actual test. NOT RECOMMENDED!
I dont recommend him. You can read the chapters over and over and still fail his test.. he doesnt even give reviews or talk about whats in the text. good luck
very helpfull and patient and also a great lestener not quit friendly but respecful
Not recommended.
I have taken this Professor for both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics - Read the chapters, produce and good final paper, and study for the tests which he offers a study guide with questions geared towards his test and you will get good grades. Make sure you read, and participate in class. He is a wonderful Professor, and helpful.

one of the worst and definitely the most stuck teacher in the history of pbcc, he's a total harvard smug. avoid him at n e cost!
Before stating this class I was scared because this teaches has a really bad review, but don't let this fool you. The class is not that hard. If you have to take it, don't go to another school. Just read the chapters before class and do the study guide. The test is the same as the study guide so if you do your homework you are going to pass with A
read the textbook and you will be fine. He doesn't offer the most help but he knows what he's talking about so listen.
His lectures have little to do with his tests, however, his reviews are sometimes a carbon copy of his exams. He likes people that speak up and have read before class. I didn't do either and still got a good grade- just make sure he knows you exist and study the reviews he gives.
What is wrong with him. Very into himself. Always teeling people of how man miles he road his bike. Please don't take him as a professor, he is a total waste of my money.
This professor is not as hard as these reviews make him seem. He only lectures on the material from the book that he feels is important. He emails out study guides before each test. If you read the book and pay attention in class you will do fine. He is very knowledgeable and energetic about the subject.
Worst professor I have ever had. He gave lecture from the book but what he thinks is important. His test extremely difficult, never talk or discuss test. His ego is terrible. He is not helpful at all.
If you go to school to learn then take his class. Make sure you read the material before class and ask questions. I really enjoyed his class. He is really good. He knows what his talking about. Buy the study guide. Pay attention in class. You will have fun. I'm taking his class again and I highly recommend his.
great professor really knows his stuff, just read book and go over notes you should do fine. no homework four test, he drop's lowest one and one research paper.makes the class fun, will seem bored at first until the class opens up.
This is the second class I have taken with him. Take him if you want to learn. Reading the book before the lecture helps. He hands out study guides before each test. If you have an 'A' after the 2nd test you are exempt from the final.
if u like reading text books then this class is for u! he doesnt really lecture from the book during class bcuz he thinks everyone has it read so he just goes on tangents for 3 hours about what he thinks is important but then the test is still all from the book. he does send out study guide but it doesnt really make the tests any easier.
Listen, anyone who complains about the Dr. is lazy and stubborn. The students who recommend the Dr. EARNED their grades. You've got to read the book, speak up in class, make valiant efforts to understand the material, and let him know that your trying. If you aren't doing these 3 things, why are you even in school?
You have to put in effort to get a good grade, but it is worth it because you actually learn a lot about how economics works. I took him for both Micro and Macro and would take him again if i got the chance.
I honestly do not like this professor at all. we have not even taken the first test and he is already saying that many people will fail the test, and that he will not have mercy! Really, do you think that's encouragement? I hate that his grade is based on 3 tests only. Doesn't give h.w. or any other grades because he doesn't have time to check it
He is a good professor, but you have to do your part too, be prepared, read, and you'll be fine. Ask question he is good with making you understand the hard word in a easy format, there isn't nothing to complain about. All those bad comments are useless if you are willing and able to work hard to pass the class. It's your job to be prepare ahead!!!
He is extremely knowledgeable. If you make no effort, he won't help you. But if you read the textbook and pay attention in class, there is no reason you shouldn't get a good grade.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Made material interesting, if you read the book and go to class you're set. The book is not a hard read. Sometimes gives perks for doing well on first exam.
I took Macro, got an A, but I read & studied a lot!!! It is hard, but not terrible. Just read! Dummies, gamers, loafers, & texters will not do well! Not kindergarten-Read your book! Do the graphs! Study hard and you can do well. He gives extra credit questions & lets you drop worst test so you have a decent chance if you just study! Very Nice Gu
I took Macro, got A- but I read book & studied a lot! It is hard, but interesting. Just read! Dummies, gamers, loafers,& texters will not do well! Must read book! Study graphs! Study hard-you can do well. He gives extra credit questions & drops worst test to better your chances. Very Nice Guy & is avail after class for help & questions. Interested!
THE WORST professor i have ever had! His accent is not horrible but it does make it hard to understand at times. he says he'll email the review for the test days prior but NEVER does til late the night before the test. i get str8 A's and have never dropped a class before and i tried to stick it out until the last day but he was no help at all
Be prepared to teach yourself mainly. He was a good teacher but he's very random. The book helps a lot. He doesn't really go in to deep as the book does. He will help but after he makes a fool out of you. I got an A but I worked hard for it... And half the class dropped by the second test. No xtra credit either.
I passed with an A and should I say it was a hard one to pull off. He's great, BUT his test will puzzle you. Be prepared for a lot of word problems, if your not good at them please do not waste your money. Be prepared to read a lot, you will eat, drink, sleep economics after taking him. I learned a lot but a lot was required.
TERRIBLE PROFFESSOR... DOES NOT GO BY THE BOOK, SPENDS MORE THAN HALF THE CLASS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE STUDENTS WHO DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS SERIOUSLY, THERE ARE ONLY 3 TEST THROUGHOUT THE COURSE,HE SAYS HE WILL SEND THE REVIEW A WEEK PRIOR SO YOU CAN STUDY BUT DOESN'T SEND IT UNTIL THE NIGHT BEFORE THE TEST, HIS TEST ARE CONFUSING... DO NOT TAKE UNLES
Check your test grade, if you do not, he may forget to give you points for an entire section. I have straight A's but got my first B in this class and had to fight for it. If you have time to memorize the book you will pass easily.
Lafalaise is very knowledgeable and extremely entertaining. He can wander a bit, but isn?t far from the topic. Class attendance is a must, the book is helpful, the web site narrated slide show makes it easier. Test are based on sample questions and class work.
If you take him read the chapter and he will fill in the gaps. He does test on comprehension he wants to know you are getting what he is teaching and not just memorizing.. He did teach from the book.. His test are hard and but if you know what your are talking about it isn't that bad... He does talk alot and what he says is very interesting..
Dr. Lafalaise is a great professor!!! I didnt like him at first bc he tries to intimidate u the first day but he really is good guy and a great teacher. Makes references that make you understand things easily. I would reccomend him to anyone. He really keeps you listening and on the edge of your seat!

BEWARE do not take this teacher. He rambles on and on about nothing. Say the test are easy but really is not. Of course the test is easy to him because he knows the material you are the teacher Duh. BORING
WORST TEACHER EVER!! DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. HE'S NOT HELPFUL AT ALL AND WILL BELITTLE IF YOU ASK A QUESTION!GOOD LUCK!!
Dr. Lafalaise is a great teacher. He is really smart and knows what he is talking about. You MUST read the book to understand the course if you don't you'll fail his tests miserably. Overall I didn't expect to learn as much as I thought I would.
Good professor
If you want to fail take his class. Teaches randomly- lectures. Test are super hard.
ridiciously pointless to even attend if you do not have the patience to sit there for 3 hours. once you clock out he tend to want to ramble more and more about things all around the subject than on the subject! if you are a reader you will do great but if you have other priorities don't expect to pass this class.
A difficult teacher and a difficult class, however this one is more dependant on the student. He elaborates on the basic concepts but will not explain the minor details unless brought up. I sat in the far right corner and never even picked up the book, but still knew what occurred. If you cannot take time to learn outside of class, give up.
Professor Lafalaise's class is hard and his tests are really hard. You have to attend every class and have to read the book. If you don't read the book you will fail. At first he seems intimidating but is very knowledgeable about Economics and you will learn from him. Just need to study and read the book. He does wonder off the subject sometimes.
One of the toughest, and most demanding professors you will ever have. But his class is the most you will ever learn in one semester of economics. you have to work hard, but if you're willing to work, its a great class.
HE IS RIDICULOUS!
Wow this was a HARD class. I studied hard and went to SI every week and managed to pass. This is pretty much the most difficult class I have taken thus far so be ready to read, interact and possibly see a tutor weekly. It was a struggle and he does not fool around but ultimately I learned a lot and got a decent grade.
ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. He's a know it all and teaches as if you have already taken economics before. And if you don't pay attention to every economical thing outside of class he looks at you like you're a horrible person. He shouldn't be a teacher bc we need to actually learn to better our future economy. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TAKING HIM!
He's a great professor macro is easiest with him. You need to pay attention and attend class but mist important is reading the book before class. He's more than willing to talk after class and clarify anything that you may havemissed. Micro is the hardest of his 2 courses.
I got an A without even studying. Just read, do the assignments and pay attention... that's it. This class is really easy and I thought he was a really great professor who used great analogies to help people understand the concepts. He can get a bit off topic but he kept it interesting.
***IF YOU ARE A DUAL ENROLL STUDENT ONLY TAKING THIS CLASS FOR THE CREDIT, DO NOT TAKE HIM. I'm not saying it to scare you, but he teaches to students who want to major in business, so you'll be left in the dust if you cant keep up. otherwise read the material and you'll be good. he gives Xtra Credit on tests & tries to make the material relatable.
Like the person below said, if you're dual enrolling, take another professor. He's good, but unless you know every nook and cranny of the economy & its process, you wont get anything over a low B if you're lucky. He pays more attention to those who know what he's talking about, Tests are hard, but the assignments are fairly easy.
I rarely leave any comments here. but for this teacher I will because Dr.Lafalaise is knowledgeable but not teaching material. This class is very challenging,I wouldn't recommend it if you are not majoring in economics or related. At the beginning of the semester the class was about 25 students it ended with only 11 student half of class dropped.
He's a smart guy but really expects you to know economics. He doesn't like to answer too many questions. NOT an EASY class and if you are dual enrolling definitely won't suggest if that is not your major. My best advice would be take another teacher.
Extremely smart, lively, detailed Prof. has wealth of knowledge. Class is tough, must attend all classes & read chapter before class. Amazing weekly Tutor saved me-if they offer a Tutor-SIGN UP, you won't regret it. I learned a lot.
Horrible
Hard grader. You have to read the chapter before class or else you won't get it.
The exams could be tough, but if you study and try to understand the concepts rather than memorizing you will do fine. He's very knowledgeable, very straight forward and tell it how it is . He uses the best examples and anologies to help you understand . Gives great lectures (often inspirational). A lot to learn from his class. Highly recommend !
Took him in the fall of 2014 for micro economics (eco2023), and honestly he's the best college professor I ever had! He's very intelligent and inspirational. Read the book and pay attention you should do fine.
Do yourself a favor, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PROFESSOR!!!!! He is absolutely the worst professor ever. He lectures the whole time. If you miss class, he will fail you. He does NOT care to help you. He will not help you. He only has one opinion: HIS OWN! He is so negative; tells the class everyday that you will fail and that most students fail his class
Not very clear all the time. Read the book before class and participate! answer as many questions that you know (since you read the book) in class and you'll be fine. Curves and/or drops a test though he doesn't say it. I found his lectures interesting and funny even if off topic sometimes. Go to the SI. READ the book and it's an easy A.
I have a 3.85+ gpa, and I am in the honors college. This professor spends the whole 2 hours and 45 minutes talking about his opinion on politics and not teaching economics. He complains when students don't read the book every other class. He makes students seem dumb for asking questions. I don't recommend this professor.
You MUST read the book, spends more time criticizing and pointing out flaws in the students than he does attempting to better the learning environment. He performs 'theatrics' in hopes to gain attention from the students (unprofessional). Don't recommend. Expects you to already know the subject he is supposed to be teaching.
Took for both Micro & Macro. Impossible not to get an A as long as you attend, pay attention, study, and go to SI. Only 3 tests. No hw or cw makes it easy. Do not let any negative review intimidate you none of it is true. Definitely recommend taking this professor highly underrated. You will be relieved and glad you got an A after taking him!
Took Micro and Macro. The professor is highly intelligent and expects nothing less than college level participation. Serious students only will have no problem in his class.
This class was impossible! I did end up getting an A in the class but I had to work for it. Thank god for the SI, Kim who is normally assigned to all of his classes. If it wasn't for her I would have never passed. Only 3 tests but the first 2 are really hard. A lot of trick questions on tests. Man doesn't stop talking and rambles.
This class is only for students who are willing to commit to his class. He lectures to the last minute. He will challenge you and the exams are not easy. But if you are in class for every session and show up on time also go to SI you will get an A like I did. Don't let the reviews turn you away.
Took him for Macro over the summer and it was a great class. He is definitely knowledgeable about the subject and knows what he is doing. Read ahead of time and try to comprehend the difficult concepts and you will be fine. Only 2 tests, one take-home project, some extra credit and a final project for the final exam.
Read, study and get an (A) pay attention to pre tests as it will help for tests.
Professor Lafalaise seems to only care about himself. He has little to no mercy or understanding for students. He makes his students feel dumb for asking questions or for not already knowing things about economics. The man can ramble for hours, oftentimes getting way off track. I had to rely heavily on the book. Overall, would NOT recommend.
Professor Lafalaise is possibly my favorite professor so far. He is energetic, very knowledgeable in his profession, and clear abt what he wants. I found it especially amusing among the other reviews that an honors college student with a 3.85 GPA got a C and complained here. I have a 4.0, so believe me when I tell you; read, listen, you will pass.
He is very straight forward and serious when it comes to education, which makes him sound really heavy and rude sometimes. We had to read a chapter every week. You HAD to read the chapter before you come to class. If you didn't he would always get on you for not reading. His lectures were great but its only the reading part that sucks
The exams are questions with multiple choice and written, you only have three exams and one task. He doesn't respond to emails. It was a hard class; I liked the material, but I couldn't enjoy it.
This professor constantly told the class that we'd fail if we didn't read the text book. I missed one class and was told if I missed another class I wasn't going to pass. There are only 3 assignments so if you missed one he'd say you weren't going to make it. His accent is thick so it's hard to understand him when he starts rambling from the topic.
