Conducted excellent lectures that were clear and concise. Provided helpful examples and explained things well. You had to really know your stuff to pass the exams but she made that possible.
Very easy class. Probability, odds, statistics, election votes.... easy subjects. She explain things VERY clear with detailed steps. Exams easy if you do the homework and practice exams. Always willing and eager to help you outside of class.
This is the best math teacher I have ever had. I never understood this material in high school and now I can do it with ease. Her homework and practice exams are wonderful, and really help prepare for the tests. Really nice and funny, she's wonderful!!
Very helpful, kind, and loves teaching. A quality teacher.
Jeanette is one of the best math teachers I've ever had. She really cares about the students and their success in the class. Actually took two classes with her, (MATH 251 also).
Very helpful!! I enjoyed her teaching methods and her determination to help every student understand the materail...the best math teacher I have ever encountered
This is a very good professor. She will definitely go out of her way to show you several different ways to do the problem just to make sure that you understand how to do it. Take it....DO IT....DO IT....DO IT.
best math teacher in the world!! If you do not take 251/252 from her you are crazy. She will always take time to help, and very easy to talk to. She is funny, and just a really nice person. !!!TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
One of the best instructors I've had at WSU. She made linear algebra cake. Take a class with her if you can.
Extremly helpful and incredible nice...best math teacher I have ever had!
Awesome teacher! Cares about her students a lot! Her web page is well updated and has practice problems that prepare you well for exams. Her course is still challenging and you will learn a lot, but not at the expense of your grade if you do your work.
She'd bend over backwards to get students to understand, explaining how to work a problem 3+ different ways. I took her three years ago, and still remember how she invited anybody left in Pullman to share Thanksgiving dinnger with her family. So nice!
Best prof ever, extremely nice lady.
boring but a really good math teacher
No Comments
Its not her falt, the class is just boreing. But, shes nice and can be kinda funny, not a bad teacher.
The material was BORING, but she is a great teacher. She always posts study guides online before tests and those were extremely helpul, especially since the book blew. I took the class more than a year ago, and I still remember pretty much everything. Nice lady

Very good prof. Makes everything clear and is very helpful. Recommended.
I found the material very easy and so never went to class, but her examples were very clear and lectures easy to understand. She posts all the m aterial on the web, including study guides and answers.
She was very approachable when it came to asking for help. She is really nice and friendly. She teaches right from the book so it is easy to follow along!
Best math teacher i've ever had in terms of examples relating to homework relating to study guides and exams...very clear and concise on what is expected- smooth course for the most part. Does give a comprehensive final, and some worksheets that take time but I thought it was a great course.
Great teacher but gets sidetracked easily
Simple a Great math teacher, knows her stuff, explains it very well. RECOMMEND...oh, and ask questions, shes good at anwsering them.
Went out of here way to help you. Explained things extrememly well, and is very friendly professor. Definitely take her class if you can!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. Actually got an A in her class without any curves. Easy to understand and gave credit for attendance. Her tests were straight forward and not too tricky. Very nice and helpful. Actually stayed on top of things and kept her website updated with assignments and grades.
I loved this teacher!!She was willing to help you to do your best. Sometimes she might have drawn out explanations but she just wanted you to do well in her class!!If you go to class and do the homework and LOOK at the study guides you will do extremely well in the class!!! Overall a very good teacher I recommend her!!
Poor teaching skills. Incredibly difficult to follow because she stops every few sentences waiting for someone in the class to finish the sentence. I am good at math and the lectures are so laborious and choppy that every day I have no idea what she is teaching about.
one of the best Math teachers. She was GREAT. Very approachable. Wasn't the best material to learn, but she still made it descent. She really knows her stuff too!
It is safe to say that she is the second worst math professor at this school, after pulling good grades in Calc 1,2 and 3 she is able to make linear algebra a joke by placing so many terms in questions you dont know what she means (Im guessing its a way of her attempting to act smart). The class better answer questions of she gets frustrated.
Best math class I've ever taken-- and I HATE math. She is a great teacher, exams are easy. She does not try to "trick" you with the questions. Go to class and you will get an A. If you're struggling, go ask her for help and you will have a complete understanding of what you don't get. I highly recommend taking math from her.
The BEST math teacher I have ever had! She is the coolest teacher ever! She will always help you when you need it, has LOTS of office hours, and is the sweetest lady you'd ever meet! Test are a complete cake-walk! Homework is easy, worksheets are easy. TAKE A CLASS FROM HER!
Math 220 was NOT a pleasant experience with Martin. She is nice enough but just reading definitions off and answering the questions about definitions with more definitions wasn't a big help.
she is possibly the worst teacher and she makes excuses for all of her mistakes... horrific experience never take this class with her i stopped attending lecture and went to the teacher that barely spoke english at least her knew what he was teaching
Makes mistakes everyday of class; Mondays cause its early in the week, Wednesday cause its just one of those days, Friday cause its the end of the week. So tired of hearing that from her. Couldnt tell what she was writing half the time, would have been nice since she cant explain it well
The best math teacher ever!!! She was so nice!! Was always so helpful and has review sessions for every exam. You always get 100% on activities and if you actually do your homework it's not to hard to mess that one up either. I would rate her 5 out of 5.
Super understanging and helpful! I would recommend her in an instant!
Great professor, classes aren't mandatory but she will bump your grade up if you attend frequently. Study Guides are exactly from the test except for different numbers. She will answer confusing math homework questions in class before they are due if you email her. Definitely recommend her.
Stopped attending lecture after the first month, notes were sometimes helpful, but the textbook taught me way more than she ever did. Expect to learn most of it on your own.
She was extremely helpful and clear - I actually learned from her lectures. The tests had everything she she said would be on them & there are no curveballs. If you keep up and attend class you'll be fine!
She is an okay professor. No where near Remaley, but she knows her stuff. The annoying thing is that she makes alot of mistakes in lecture. She is horrible at 3-D drawing(ironic because most of this class is 3-D), but she is nice in office hours. Easier then Calc 2.
Made this class extremely easy!
Good Professor. She's nice and does a good job of teaching. Now and then she isn't that clear and she does make a handful of errors. But is willing to help those who need it and put effort. She also gives a lot of exta credit, which is always good. Overall I enjoyed this class and I understood the subjects.
Jeanette is fantastic. Does a pretty good job of teaching the material. She's super helpful in office hours and responds to email quickly. Takes attendance daily. I really struggle with math, but Jeanette made it easy.
If anyone says she's a bad teacher, they either didn't come to class or pay attention. She presents the material very clearly. Yea, she might mess up, but it's REALLY not that bad. She'll correct herself and you'll live. If you study the practice problems she gives before exams, you're golden. Attendance isnt mandatory, but if you fail, that's why.
She was an awesome teacher. Made everything clear and easy to understand. If you do the study guides you'll do great on the exams.
Best teaching technique, breaks it down into bite size pieces. easy to understand, but don't miss lecture. learn something new every day.
This was a great teacher for my first math class at WSU. She enjoys teaching the material and likes to keep the lectures lively at times with laughs here and there. Very clear, but has technology problems sometimes. Great teacher highly suggest her for this course.
Shes a fantastic prof. who has good lectures, shes clear, and will answer any questions. she even will go over HW problems in class before they are due, to make sure you get them correct. HW is light and easy, and so are the few tests that you have, as long as you show up.
Jeanette is very helpful and understanding. I came into her class with a Math learning disability and she was nothing but encouraging and gave me extra days as needed to complete the written homework because she wanted me to understand the content more than she wanted to hold her deadline. Great experience.
Jeanette is the best math teacher I've ever had. The difference between her and other teachers is that she isn't trying to trick you. She wants you to understand the material. Her exam study guides are better than the textbooks. When I was stuck, I would read those. If you understand how to do all the problems on the guides you will get an A.
she just amazing go to class listen what she said and study the study guide for exam don't worry you will get A
organized lectures, excited about math which makes class less dull, clear, and good at explaining things
Jeanette was an amazing teacher!! I always have struggled with math but she made everything clear and yes had a few mistakes (but we all do) yet she would quickly fix them. Attend class because you will fail if you don't and get extra credit. Exam study guides are super helpful and exams are pretty easy!!! I highly recommend her!
I have had a lot of bad math teachers and Mrs. Martin was the first good one that i have had in a long time. any one who struggles with math should take calc from here.
Awesome professor! I had a boring calculus professor in high school and Jeanette made me almost want to minor in math - and I hated calculus prior. Lectures consists of her working through examples which is nice! Only downside is it all depends on the TA you get - mine was a nightmare and he often contradicted what she said which left me confused.
Jeanette just has this unique style of lecturing that clicks with me, I can't explain it! She's like a caring mother to the students and will go to bat for them if she feels they receive an unfair grade. Excited to have her again as she teaches lots of classes!
Jeanette is incredibly nice and really cares about her students. She loves when students participate and will usually do a learning catalytic almost every class as part of your participation grade. The exams are incredibly similar to the practice exams and so you most likely won't be surprised by the material on the actual exams.
Jeanette might be the best math teacher that I have ever had at any level. Jeanette made math make sense & actually sparked an interest in it. The way that she teaches is so clear and she really breaks down the material in several ways to try & get everyone to understand. If you get to know her you will find out she truly cares about her students.
The best math professor Ive ever had really gives you a fundamental understanding of whats going on and is extremely nice. Gives great practice exams and answered questions thoroughly. Reccomend her for any math class. Would have got a better grade if I didnt forgot to do a bunch of the homework.
Great professor who is patient and available to questions. Goes through examples step by step in a clear way, showing all of her work. Great teacher for creating a strong foundation of calculus.
GREAT TEACHER 100% recommend her.
I had taken AP Calc in high school, so I had an idea what was going on. Thank God I had, or else I would have been lost all semester. Her lectures were dull and the examples given were either too few or unrelated to what was on the exams. Do yourself a favor and choose a different prof.
I LOVE Jeanette! I took Calc 1 with her as well and if you've taken calculus before her lectures can be boring but super helpful the second there is new material. She is easy to get ahold of and cares about her students. Her review sessions before exams are extremely helpful and similar to questions on the exams as well as the practice exams.
Jeanette is the nicest professor I've had at WSU. She comes to lecture ultra prepared - I wouldn't call the lectures fun, but you won't regret going if you are like me and need to see the material as much as possible. She will go to bat for her students if something isn't right. Really glad I had her, because 172 IS harder than 171.
Best professor i've had yet. She's always available to talk to students and is completely prepared for her lectures. Its math so of course material can be a drag but she really pulls through in making the class bearable.
Jeanette really is an absolute gem. She outlines notes thoroughly beforehand, and her examples are always very easy to follow. Practice exams are always posted, and it makes studying a breeze. Loved this class, and I wish I could have her as my math professor every semester!
Lots of homework I guess. 2 weekly homework assignments (1 online & 1 in lab) with a quiz each week in lab.
Nicest and most understanding teacher I've had in college. She's an angel and really cares about the students well-being. Only has 1 homework assignment a week and will grant an extension if you ask.
The content was easy, Jeanette explained things pretty well, too.
Wonderful professor. Genuinely cares about students. Only one homework assignment per week and she even drops the lowest score. Tests are very similar to study guides which makes it easy to prepare for. Overall, great professor.
She's so awesome, kind and helpful! Very patient and clearly wants you to succeed. 100% take this class with her. the best!!
Super nice and willing to help 10/10
She takes a lot of time to explain concepts and is completely accepting of "dumb" questions. She is slow when showing her work which is actually very helpful because Calculus is not a class where the teacher should rush their lectures. Two homework assignments every week, typically. If you have questions, I recommend asking her and not a T.A.
Great Math Teacher, Very understanding and a clear teacher. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about my lab section instructor. the Ta I had was very hard to understand most people skipped and just took the quiz at the end.
She is very understanding that students might not be able to attend the scheduled lecture time so all of her lectures are recorded. She responds to emails really quickly and is always ready to answer questions. Mark Schumaker was our math coordinator and the exam was basically like the exam review he would give us.
Math is not normally my strongest subject but Jeanette's teaching style allowed me to understand the topics and do well in the exams. She makes sure to show every step of work and answer students' questions during the lecture. She responses to emails quickly as well. I definitely recommend this professor if you need to take math 171.
Jeanette is great, she will answer student's questions during lecture with patience and kindness (so don't be afraid to stop her and ask!). During her office hours, she was chill and went thoroughly through problems with me that I was confused on. She made math fun and built up our understanding of the material step-by-step, which I appreciated.
I think she is a great professor and is definitely super understanding when it comes to online learning and it's difficulties. One thing in the class I would recommend is that really focus on the practice exams before the real test because they do a good job of preparing you. As for written homework, attend office hours and get help!!!!!!
Professor Martin was great! I had professor Martin online due to COVID, but she was very organized and stayed after class if anyone needed help. The only thing I struggled with in this class were the TA's but that's normal. Overall, really good professor, GET INTO HER CLASS!!!
Great professor! Really understands the content, and answers all questions in and outside of class. The first couple of weeks were extremely bumpy and unorganized (took quizzes that had content that we barley learned). But, after that everything was smooth! Be prepared to take trips to the MLC!
This class was very enjoyable, mostly due to Jeanettes teaching! The subject material had its challenges even with it being elementary math. Jeanette is wonderful at answering questions and puts time and effort into her teaching. This is the first time in my education Ive had a math teacher that was helpful and I was able to earn an A.
Math 251 is probably one of the easiest college classes I will ever take. Feels like you're learning elementary math again but you get to understand it more. Online homework, 3 tests, and a final. In class group activities count for a lot of points but they aren't too difficult. Jeanette is also pretty chill.
Professor Martin, is an amazing Professor, very kind and actually teaches right. Cal can be hard, and she really helps you understand the material. Even with having ongoing health issues she was very caring and understanding when I had to miss lecture.
This is the third time I had Jeanette! I had Jeanette for calc 1,2, & 3. Jeanette is extremely organized, uses power points, and always showed graphs and pictures! The only thing I struggled with was the final..... calc 3 final is really hard! So be prepared!
Jeanette is an amazing math professor. Calculus II can be very hard, but she made it easy. The lectures were very useful so I would recommend going to class and taking notes. There are a lot of tests in this class, however I thought that they were all pretty simple. She gives you a lot of preparation material for each exam so that is nice :) 10/10
I've taken a few math professors and Martin was the only one that was able to deliver a lecture that could keep my attention. Also she is really clear with her explanations and gives lots of examples. She is also highly approachable with any questions or concerns.
Prof. Martin is the opposite of a slide show professor, she prepares tons of examples and gives relevant and perfect analogies. You won't fall asleep in this lecture.
So understanding, insightful on the material, very good at helping you understand the content, and makes difficult subjects easier. Jeanette is always prepared and has well-structured, efficient lectures. The tests can be killer, but that is just the nature of the class. I highly recommend taking all your math classes with Jeanette if possible.
She is a great professor. I personally didn't understand the examples well so I would watch youtube videos to understand the content (shout out organic chemistry tutor) . But Calc 1 with her wasn't difficult, just make sure to go to your lab to do the practice problems, do the learning catalytic, and the online homework.
She is an amazing professor. She teaches really well. I'd definitely recommend taking her class.
The best instructor that I have ever had. She makes math easy to understand. Highly recommend taking any of her classes.
Easiest professor I had all semester. Initially, she would often walk the class through examples to help us get started on the activity packet we had to work on that day. Then she would allow us work time for the entire period to complete it. She was always willing to help and was extremely friendly with every student. Take a class with Jeanette!
Jeanette is amazing. Don't get me wrong, she teaches hard classes so its no cake walk, but she makes it about as easy as possible. There were numerous times when I would walk out of class after a lecture with some other students and we would all talk about how awesome she was and how her lecture just made sense.
Jeanette is a great instructor. She teaches a hard course, but she teaches it in a way that makes it comprehendable.
Loved Martin, made things extremely clear and easy to understand... wish she taught some of my other classes
She was incredibly kind and understanding and always allowed a different testing time if you were unable to make it to the exam. There were a lot more tests/quizzes than my other classes but it just keeps you up to speed with what's happening. She is a good lecturer and breaks things down very well so its easy to understand.
i found her teaching style to be really clear and the class never felt like it was moving too quickly for me, she is a great math professor would recommend to anybody taking calculus
She is the best math teacher I have ever had. I've always been very confused in math before her class but she makes things very easy to understand. At the end of the semester you will have a quiz every week, but it is just 1 or 2 questions and you will get a worksheet very similar to the quiz in your lab section at the beginning of the week.
Janette was awesome! Calculus is obviously hard to grasp but she made that course easier to understand and a little more fun. She is clearly passionate and is incredibly kind to students even if they asked silly questions. She was also really funny! I 100% recommend her!
Jeanette is my favorite math professor. She is passionate, kind, considerate, and wise. I am very fond of her many jokes during lectures or student hours. My favorite is her classic "user error," occurring when she attempts to point at the projected screen with her tablet in hand, but it leads to the screen turning 90 degrees. 100% recommended.
The best math teacher I've ever had, she speaks very clearly and makes hard concepts easy to understand. She is very funny and you can tell she is very kind and caring towards all her students.
Professor Martin makes a tough course like Calculus II much more manageable. Lectures are engaging and she provides excellent support. Definitely utilize the free textbook and take advantage of the Math Learning Center - combined with Unstuck AI, these resources make this class very doable.
Attendance is mandatory in the sense that there are graded Learning Catalytics questions in 2/3 of the lectures. Jeanette is a great professor; you can tell she enjoys Calculus, and you'll learn a lot from her. She will answer your questions during the lectures, if you have any, and she explains things very well.
Not very personable at all. Refused to answer questions I had after lectures. Insists that students ask questions via email.
Before this class math rarely clicked for me, Prof. Martin did that for me. She made calculus very approachable and understandable! She's incredibly good at presenting bite sized pieces of knowledge that allow you to build the larger idea. My favorite professor so far!
By far the best professor I have had at WSU. I was worried to take calc 2 because it was said to be a hard class however she was very good at teaching all the concepts and giving good exam prep. Would highly recommend for anyone taking any sort of math classes here.
Easy class if you have your algebra and trig fundamentals down. Attendance is required but does not significantly impact your grade. Lectures were simple compared to what is on tests on homework - so they were not always worth attending. The professor is okay but the quality of instruction is inferior to online math videos.
Jeanette is a very personable professor, and none of the lectures feel intimidating or too much to take in. I genuinely appreciate the fact that she's willing to laugh at her own mathematical mistakes in the lectures when they happen (tech also likes to play a factor, of course!), because I think it just creates a much more "adaptive" environment.
-posted class notes and lecture videos on Canvas -tons of homework -very organized canvas space -spent at least 10 hours a week outside of class studying/completing assignments
