This teacher shattered the mold of the dreary english professor. The course is structured well and can be easily accessed if you miss material, definitely went beyond the call of duty. Doesn't harbor an academic bias and a gem in today's world of deadening "intellectual elitism". A+++!!!

Whenever u need help she is there. Ive learned alot in her class. It was intense but very funny and awesome class. Kept me entertained.

She is one of the gretes teachers I have ever had, I wish that she would get her PhD and teach at a university where she belongs, she could possibly change how everyone looks at English, she has drastically changed the way I write and communicate. But don't think that her classes are easy, you will work for your grade.

Writing research papers is neither fun nor easy. Yet, this professor makes these mandatory assignments as painless as possible for all of her students. I feel very lucky to have had this fun, energetic, and attractive professor.

Took summer class, went by quickly. She is a great teacher- one of the best I had. The class is hard work, but she lays it out before hand and tells you. Makes class entertaining. She is very helpful, sometimes a little crazy. Always tries to help. My advanced composition skills are so much better now because of her. Recommended!

She is a total sweet-heart. Very smart and eager to help all her students. Possibly the best prof. at Manchester. I really enjoyed her class. A lot of writing, but she gives back detailed explanations and comments on all papers -- pointing out the GOOD and the not-so-good. Wish she would teach at 4 year school.

Professor DeRusha is a fantastic teacher, one of the absolute best I have ever had. Her combination of enthusiasm, knowledge, thoroughness, and great personality make for a wonderful experience. I took her online class, and it is definitely the best experience with an online class I have had. I highly recommend any of her classes.

I must admit this was one of the best English classes I have taken throughout my college experience. She is really helpful and will help you become a better writer and researcher.

She is a GREAT english teacher! Class is time consuming because of research ~ but she gives you ALL the tools you need to be a Great Writer. Lets you work on paper in class. 3 papers, a quiz a week. No midterm or final. I didn't know how to write a paper before her class. She gives you step by step instruction! A valuable teacher~ Take Her!

Wonderful challenging prof. Very organized and fun class. If you do not want a challenging class then DeRusha's class is not for you. She will push you to your writing limits and you will walk away from this class a better writer. Wonderful energy but a very tough critic. An A writer should expect a B in this class.

Nice teacher and great personality. Really helpful. Expects alot, but is straight forward and gives you what you need to get an A. I dont really like english but enjoyed her class. In dynamite shape too!

She is Awesome. I thought I was going to fail in the first weeks, but she is so helpful and allows re-writes. I strongly recommend her class. The only one problem is her second paper she has you write, but if you can get started early you won't have any issue.

Her class can be quite challenging, but the paper topics are interesting and she grades very fairly. You will get the grade you deserve. She allows rewrites for the first two papers which is very generous. Overall, I highly recommend taking one of her classes. Students at all levels of writing abilities will learn something.

Professor Derusha is the most energetic and like able English professor you can get at MCC. She is extremely helpful when it comes to writing and understanding the reading assignments. She grades very hard but allows rewrites on all of her papers except the final. She is a great professor and not a bad looker either.

VERY energetic. She is so adorable and hilarious. The class is hard, I ended up getting a C+, but she's seriously THE MOST helpful English teacher I have EVER had. If youre there for the quizzes and do the rewrites or do good on the papers the first time, youre golden. I actually enjoyed writing papers for her class.

Really great professor. She is very nice and always willing to help. I could have gotten a better grade, but her class requires A LOT of time outside the classroom. If you are super busy, like me, this class may be a little tough.

I had her for ENG 200 and she helped me a lot. I'm a french speaker so English was my 2nd language but I still got an A- in her class.

I Love her! Never did well in English, EVER. Signed up for her class because I heard she's not easy but is very helpful you will learn alot and did! Already signed up for her advanced comp class and it's not even a requirement. If you wanna succeed in college and writing papers, TAKE HER CLASS!

One of my favorite professors--She's friendly, holds very lively lectures, fair grader, very available for help, and is very clear with what she expects. I was an okay writer at the beginning of the course but was an excellent writer at the end. I am so glad I took her class!

Professor DeRusha is a FANTASTIC professor. She is not a professor however you can just show up and pass. You need to apply yourself in her class and she will help you succeed but you have to earn it. She is a tough grader but it is only to make you a better writer. She understands that people learn differently and will zero in on the strengths, weaknesses and writing style of each student in order to know how to help each as an individual. She does her homework and expects you to do yours. Classroom atmosphere-upbeat and positive

Prof. De Rusha grades fairly. It is evident that she puts time and effort into preparing her class lessons and she expects her students to put in the same time and effort into the work that she assigns. Do not expect to do well in her course if you don't plan to attend her classes; class participation is mandatory and is. part of your final grade.

Prof. DeRusha is great! I had her for ENG 101 last semester. She keeps you engaged and her funny personality also keeps you tuned in. She is a tough grader but she is always willing to help if you need it. A big part of your grade is participation, so come to class prepared. You wont regret taking any of her classes. Easy pass.

She's an amazing teacher! She makes the class interesting. Just make sure you do the reading. She will also tell you that she doesn't do make up tests which I learned the hard way so make sure you're on time to quiz days

Absolutely LOVED Derusha. Best professor I've ever had. She really wants you to learn and get the most out of her class but she understands how hard writing is for some people and always made everything so clear and easy to understand. JD is a wonderful prof. I took her 110 &then 263 bc I loved her so much.. BC 263 is a higher level course it's harder but she makes it very enjoyable. Poem analysis, reading several books of poems, writing a few of your own poems, watching performance poetry, short quizzes to see that you read, etc. Not for some1 who slacks but not super hard

Has made me feel more comfortable in my writing. She is a terrific person to talk. She makes sure you are right on track. She does give quizzes but it based on the question she gives for homework, let you do an open book for the quizes. So do the homework. Meet with students discussing the essay and let you rewrite it for better grade.

Ive had her as an english teacher since i started here and she is truly one of the best at this school shes easy, understanding, hilarious. Derusha is very clear with what she wants all you need to do is read, pass her quizzes, and edit your essay she gives them back so you can raise your letter grade im going to miss her since im transferring

She was amazing you focus on two books the quizzes are open book so you should get 100 on all of them if you read. You have to two main essays which count significantly but you have a chance to rewrite them. Make sure you read and do what's told and you will get an A she's pretty easy and laid back!

Professor DeRusha was the best teacher I have had, so far! She is very helpful and really knows how to keep anyone engaged in the class. Only 2 big essays but all quizzes are open book so it is kind of hard to fail unless you are really not trying. LOVE HER. will definitely be taking her again.

What a positive, fun person! She really understands how tough writing can be, so she does her best to empower her students to give their best and teaches how to utilize literary techniques in your papers - which I only had to write two for the class. She makes old works fresh, new, and relevant to today's issues. I would take more of her classes.

DeRusha is awesome. The class grade is based on 2 essays, a few quizzes (that she lets you use notes on) and class participation. The essays are challenging, but she gives great feedback and there is a chance to revise your essays for a better grade. I highly recommend taking her class especially if you have a difficult time in english courses.

Great teacher, transferring this year and for the comment below it was optional if you did two papers compared to 3 it was a class choice so dont make it sound like she forced that on yall it was an option yall voted on. ANYWAYS easy class would take again

Very very good teacher. It is difficult not to be engaged in her class. She is no pushover, and you'll have to work a bit as far as English goes, but if you put an ounce of seriousness in, she will make it very difficult for you to fail. Being bad at writing and English classes, I was very lucky to have her.

Professor DeRusha was an amazing teacher and I definitely suggest taking her! I really looked forward to going to class each day, we read short stories, poems, etc. and then discussed them. She really wants to know your opinion on the stories! There was minimal homework, just reading the story for the next class, one paper, and a creative project.

Best educator I have ever had. She was super fun, class was very easy, and I feel like I learned a good amount. We were graded on 2 quizzes, but you could use notes and they had extra credit. Biggest grades were on 2 essays that you work on in class with daily feedback. Very easy A, really fun time.

She's a great prof! Funny, energetic, and very nice. She is extremely helpful with the essays and gives feedback as well as a clear outline for formatting. Short quizzes which are open note. As long as you show up to class, listen, and complete the work according to her guidelines you will pass. Highly recommend for English 101.

Take Professor DeRussa if you struggle with paper writing. The essays are done paragraph by paragraph in class with constant feedback. If you attend most classes and keep up (which is easy), your paper is already an A when you turn it in for a grade. Her personality is energetic and her classes are informal. If you fall behind, catch up ASAP.

I have taken three of her classes and she is by far the best professor I have ever had. She clearly gives out assignments and has the syllabus very organized. She cares about her students and she always likes hearing their side. Phenomenal!

I LOVE DeRusha. This was her first time teaching creative writing: Poetry, and she did a great job. This class was a little difficult because it made you think outside of the box. In the beginning of class you had an exercise to complete, &amp; every week you had a poem due. She really cares about her students &amp; will make you enjoy class, &amp; no final.

Professor DeRusha is an amazing professor. This being my first semester in college, she not only was willing to help me out with English 101 material, but general college things and settling in. Although this was an online class, I am more than confident she teaches an excellent in-person class too!!! I would take her 10 times over.
