This is BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER. If you are white - she has MAJOR prejudices towards you! She NEVER hands back materials on time so except to take an exam and recieve the grade back 2 months later!She also has a BAD HABIT of not teaching. DO NOT TAKE HER
she does waste a lot of time talking. And she is very unclear. She doesnt answer ur questions unless you make them clear to her. But she is very easy and even if u fail all ur tests u will still do well bc she gives lil 1 pg projects and massive extracred
She is the best professor I ever had. I went to class about 12 times, did all my work and the take home tests and got an A. she loves to talk but thats the best part she always talks about stuff you want to hear about. Also, she is not prejudiced. I am white and she loved me. Thank you, Mark
I am a white male and she treated me with the highest respect. I suck in stats. She is the fairest teacher ever. I took her in 2002 and I still love her. "A" She is fair and knows her stuff. Do not listen to those negatives they are lies. Come to her class, show her respect, be there to learn.
She is a great teacher! I am also white and she showed no prejudice at all. She does whatever she can to answer your questions. Although she does talk alot (which I think is great) she always gets everything she needs to get done, done.
it's called a teacher for a reason. you teach your subject you can't tell your students to learn something on their own otherwise they're going to fail the final...are you serious?
This teacher assigns more work then i have ever had to do in my college career. She is nice but she talks alot about the background of math and not enough about how to actually do the problems!

she does talk a lot and has issues, but she has a passion for her field of math and stat. she is very intelligent and a unique personality. the school is like her second home, she's always there and willing to help. i heard she's the most easiest teacher out of the stat teachers at wcc. you could either love her or hate her.

She's the best math professor on campus. Although she doesn't collect homework do it anyway and go to class. I got an A in that class and I'm not good at math at all.

She may get off the subject from time to time, but she gives really good notes, Plus, she also gives assignments that are just like the tests. Work hard and u can pull out an A.
omg, i have never heard anyone talk sooooooooo much about Yonkers and other stuff that ain't got nuttin to do with the class in my life. she spends 45 minutes talking sh*t then she try to do work in the last 5 mins of class..then when exams time comes she rushin to do finish the chapters.........don't EVER take her class if u want to pass statistic
did not give a care in the world to how any of her students did in the class. no going over homework. no partial credit on tests. talks about nonsense all period. Her Vengeful attitude did not help ONE BIT in the success of anyone in my class. pretty much everyone who stuck out this nightmare until the final, failed the class.
Dont take this teacher. 1) She goes off subject way too much. 2) She makes promises to do things and never does them, then blames it on the class. 3) She must not put any time into her class besides coming and 'lecturing'. 3) Very unclear about whats on test. Do not take this professor. She has an angry, hostile disposition and spends most of the class period talking about unrelated subject matter, and gets nasty when you try to redirect and ask a question about subject material. She also grants special privileges to certain students such as an extra hour to take an exam and redo an entire quiz

never had a prob with her teaching,but WARNING DO NOT take her if u have a temper it could result in a heated argument- springer style. and forget about asking q's you'll b 92 before she gets 2 u she's 2 busy talkin 'bout things with other students that are not math related, get yourself another professor
Prepare yourself. You can get an easy A, by staying on track. Come to class and take notes. She shows you everything. Practice problems are even on tests, somtimes. If you need help, she is pretty available. She cares to see you succeed. Random tangents happen often in class, but make it fun. Extra credit gives your grade a boost.
Very helpful outside of class. I think she bases part of her grade on one's own acticity there as well.
THE WORST!! Always late (even for Final), extremely unclear, simply CANNOT TEACH, NEVER (honestly, never) prepared, spent nr of times up to AN HOUR on a single problem & still didn't know how to solve the problem (this ok??), spent soo much time talking about non-math subjects, very unprofessional (used lot of getto slang!) NOT ACCEPTABLE for Prof!
I actually loved this professor....I totally agree she goes way off topic but she is really great at teaching!!! Now, dont come in late and aske her to do a problem that was already done because then she will get annoyed and tell you she cant help you! its basically on you but just know that you can always go upto her after class for any questions
She is wonderful and really cares for students. The class can be scattered at times, but if you ask questions and communicate with her she is extremely helpful. I have never had a prof that was more available to their students outside of class. The classroom atmosphere was very relaxed which causes problems, but if you arefocused you will do fine.
Took an online class with her, extremely unclear, never explained what she wanted. Gave us homework and example problems with tons of errors. A waste of my time, wouldn't help at all. it would take weeks for her to get back to me. DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
I took this class in the summer and it was difficult. The Prof is geared towards helping, but most of the work needs to be done by the student. If you are committed to hard work- you'll be okay.
I now know more about Yonkers than I know about Math. Goes off topic, uses a lot of ghetto slang. not profesional. when she does finally discuss math she knows what shes talking about but is NOT teacher material AT ALL. Dont take her class. Leaves in the middle of tests and is always late. Waste of time.

I just started her class and wish I could switch to someone else. This "sister" has let her educational attainment turned her into a fool. VERY self absorbed. It is okay to flaunt one's acheivement, but not at the expense of others.She is robbing the student of valuable lessons. We don't need to hear about her Yonker upbringing. DON'T TAKE HER!
She should NOT be in the classroom. She is not prepared and spend 95% of the class talking about herself and how smart she is then starts writing 5 min. before class ends. I don't know why WCC does not screen their professors better. Don't take her she is not worth your time.
Prof. Epps is a different kind of teacher. If you are looking for an easy grade look somewhere else. She is quite the accomplished scholar but she does also have the gift to gab. Her style of teaching is not that of a community college caliber, it's much higher. She is understanding and willing to help but the responsiblity falls on you to succeed.
I agree she is different and maybe her teaching style is not a community college level.She is very learned, but is selfish with her knowledge by wasting her students time. I am not sure if she belongs in the classromm period.Maybe if she teach the A will be easy to get. I do not recommend her. If you enjoy learning RUN.

Lots of dialouge not directly related to the material. Expects you to be responsible for your own education. Extremely helpful and personable. How could you not like her?

Frustrating, unprofessional, unapologetic, ignorant, assuming, late, irresponsible, misleading... I am DISGUSTED that we were not given a refund after MULTIPLE complaints to deans about this professor. Definitely lowers my view of WCC as a whole educational institution. She even gave wrong material in the Learning Material.
out of 14 chapters, she taught a total of 9. grades had to be posted by the 23rd, it's now the 27th and she still hasnt posted anything. all she ever talked about was herself, yonkers, and obama. she literally didnt teach a thing for the first month. gave a really hard final. do yourself a favor and find another teacher.
i am an A student, and could not stand this class. she talks about everything except statistics and doesn't grade anything. her tests are really hard- we were allowed to work in groups on the final and no one finished it. big waste of time and stressful.
The entire semester, I would bet anything that a max total of 30 minutes was spent on the material. For two hours, twice a week, she spent the entire two hour period blabbing about Yonkers, her "hostile and violent" temperament, growing up "poor, black, and female" and her personal opinions on race and ethnicity. She is in the wrong field. SHAMEFUL
never taught. very hard tests. never used the textbook, not once. uses class time to be on her so called stage. u will learn nothing. if she likes you, even if your failing, she'll give you a good grade. but u never know where you stand.

When people are ignorant and don t know any better then they can afford to assassinate one's character. She is the best prof i ve ever had.I left that class knowing more than statistics. She validated alot of historical events statistically that i rarely knew about. I love you Prof Epps and keep up with the good works.
HAD HER for precalc and is the absolute worst. goes off on extraneous tangents about how much more she knows about anything than anyone in the class. Gets caught about vocab in a math clas?!?! and not enough on teaching skill an concept. never got anything done in class and dont bother showing up on time; she always has a story 4 her tardyness
She is one of the worst professors at WCC. She talked about back people, white people, asians, hispanics, italian and whatever race you can think of. Our twice a week 2 hour session class was her therapy session. She should be paying us to hear her speak. She is full of herself and her accomplishments and LITERALLY did not teach a damn thing!!
Professor Epps is a nice person but isn't very reliable nor dependable. When we have assessments she is usually late on them, and delays on grading midterms. If you have to take a test at the conflict room chances are you will have to give her a call and remind her because she will forget. Shes very intelligent but poorly dependable.

You will not be handed a worksheet. To be honest your going to listen to her talk for 2 hours about the nature of the math. That goes without saying no one knows what is going on because we barely write any math down and it doesn't help when she goes off on a random conversation. If you argue, she'll use big words and snap to make u feel dumb.
The below rating is correct. I withdrew from this course right after the midterm. The one time we actually wrote things down was when she was being reviewed by another staff member. Professors shouldn't have to be notified when this happens, I feel as though she changed her whole "teaching" style that day and actually taught. Do not take her!!!!!!!

In all fairness she is a very nice woman but as far as a professor goes she is absolutely horrible!! She is never prepared, she doesn't respond to e-mails, she hardly ever grades your assessments so you'll never know how you did and the answer sheets she provides are full of mistakes and confusing. She is one of the worst professors that I have ever come across! I took an online course, she NEVER returned emails & was very difficult to get in contact with. She took forever to post grades, was disorganized, there were errors in learning modules. Everything was scattered & hard to understand. She expects you to teach yourself!
She has no idea what she is talking about. All she speaks about is being black and that everyone is black. When you argue with her, she makes up big workds to sound like shes right. She confused and she confused me too. WORST CLASS EVER
Terrible teacher, do not take her unless you think you can do well in stats without any teaching. She thinks she knows everything--research half the things she says in class and you'll realize she's just talking out of her ass. Do not take her class, DO NOT take her class.
Do not take her class unless you are able to teach yourself. Class was fun and she is a nice person but nothing gets done and when the final comes you realize you didn't learn anything. On the mid-term on 3 people out of 25 passed. Great personality for a friend but terrible for a teacher.
I took the summer course that was offered for Precalculus as a prep for a high school AP Calc class. Great class! Very different than any other class I have ever taken. She has changed my perspective, on just about everything, completely. Like she says, if you are not with or ahead of her, you will be lost.
She is ALWAYS late on grading by approximately 2 weeks, but super strict with all submission deadlines (what an interesting discrepancy!). Maintains poor communication with students:you can wait for you question to be answered for 2 weeks easily, till when it doesn't matter anymore.DO NOT take her class. You WILL regret it.I'm a straight A-student.
I'm taking her online class right now. I'm very disappointed. There is not enough communication; if someone has a question on the topic she wouldn't answer on time, only after we take the test. Gives group work online - impossible to do. One of my papers hasn't been graded for 3 weeks now. Don't take her.

If you plan on teaching yourself then she's the professor for you. She spends 95% of the class time talking about random topics which entertaining however doesn't come in handy when its time to take those impossible quizzes online. Had to withdraw from the class after a month of attending i learned nothing. Would not recommend to worst enemy
Told not to buy the book & yet her teaching is so poor I suggest you BUY THE BOOK!! 10-40 minutes late ALWAYS. She uses the class to self promote, but I did not pay to hear her life story I paid to get an education which I was robbed of. No worries if she likes you, you will pass because she has NOTHING else grade the class by.

Took stat with Prof. Epps during my year off from 4 year college and can confidently say that she is the only Prof. I had at WCC that would not have seen out of place at real school. She expects you to have prepared for class, but most of the time when she went way off topic (which she does) it was because the class wasn't prepared for the lesson.
Smart woman! this is college people, you are responsible for your own grade! She doesn't collect HW so it's easy to not do the hw she has for you to practice or not do the reading, but then blame her for you not learning anything! stop being lazy and do the work!!! love you epps!!
If you're a student who is willing to teach his/herself, you will be fine. The only thing with class is that she can get off-topic a lot, and you really don't get much done there. You have to ask her about problems or other stuff related to the class if you actually want her to teach. She's cool as a person but isn't great for most students.
Absolutely horrible professor. Online course (shouldn't have taken)format was terrible. Worked hard studying 4-7 hours each day on the weekend, several hours during week and still could not grasp the material. More than half the class dropped midway. Uses online text that is mostly useless, had to frequent outside resources, blackboard unorganized.
She uses class as a forum to discuss mathematics. Do the homework, Study the textbook, ask questions and you will be fine.

Professor Epps was a waste of my time. She is unprofesional, ghetto, and races. If you are willing to sit in a class for 3 months without learning anything then thats the class for you. If professor Epps spent as much time explaining the material for the math class as she does about herself that would be great.
Great Teacher !! My second A with her. If you follow Prof Epps's directions you'll be fine. If you have questions, speak up. You do have to work and keep up with the assignments.

Prof Epps is the best! Easiest class ever! People in my class complained that she is always going off topic but they kept engaging her in off topic subjects! Very easy for me! Gives you the notes for her class for the semester so you never take notes! Never takes attendance so you can still pass with an A! I just went to class to charge my phone! Best class ever!

I took a one hour class 3 nights a week and she only taught about 5 minutes of the lesson before she went off on another tangent about living in Yonkers. Was not professional at all and wasn't helpful to students who didn't understand what she was teaching. Choose a different professor!
Read this carefully "GHETTO" if you like this sort then take her, otherwise stay away as far as you can. The real problem is the college who hire these types of people. Very self-centered and waste time to talk about herself and experiences, why? Who cares about you? Racist with bad attitude and should be investigated by all means. NOT RECOMMENEDED
