Fun class, even for 3 hours in the evening! Great person, and treats students with care and understanding. She wants all of us to succeed. Gives out easy to understand rubrics for all projects. Lab visit hours aren't set in stone, as long as you get everything you need from your time there.

This was a good course to take and full of lots of info.!! There were lots of guest speakers that really helped in the learning process because you got to hear from people that work firsthand with the things you are trying to learn more about!! Jeannie is a really great teacher! This class was pretty easy and the book use is low. You just use it for the quizzes on blackboard. Some of the project and in class activities were lame, but easy points. So the class in itself is easy but it's kind of pointless to go.

Mrs. Chaffin is great! I highly reccomend her, very nice and teaches well. Attendance is not mandatory but she does have in class assignments every once in a while which is a part of your grade so it is a good idea to go to class. She makes it interesting.

Jeanne was a great teacher and took a genuine interest in each of her students. She learns everyone's names and makes sure everyone understands all the material. The lab times are flexible and you can go anything during the week, and there are online quizzes from the book which are not too bad. I would recommend this class to anyone.

Very wonderful woman, very kind. Gives you notes, you do not need the book. The exams were all online and all open notes and you would have about 5 days to take them. And then when you came into class you would have an inclass essay for 10% of the exam and that's it. Definitely recommend her, she's such a sweetheart.

TOTALLY AWESOME TEACHER!!! Jeanne knows her subject well and really cares about us and our happiness. The tests were difficult but online and it sucked having to write an essay for every assignment, but this is the easy "A" your looking for. And her lectures are fun and anything but boring. I love her as a teacher. She is my favorite teacher so far at CMU! I encourage you to take this class, it is interesting and can be helpful for HDF majors or minors. Quizzes are easy, and exams arn't to bad. Class isn't to boring, she uses videos and things to interact with you.

I didnt go to the class for two weeks and got an 89% on the exam just by studying all the notes. Easiest UP class. Take this class and its not boring. Chaffin is a great teacher and teaches at a UP level and is so nice. She is one of my favorite profs on cmapus!

She is a very nice and fun professor. She really enjoys what she teaches and gives great examples. Attendance is not mandatory. She does do random in class activities though. If you find a friend in class and get the notes from them you are set because her exams come straight from the notes. Very easy class for UP corse and its interesting.

Awesome teacher!!! She is super funny and tries to make her class interesting. She does a lot of group work(which is how she does attendence) but its fun work. Her only drawback is that her tests are kind of hard, so I would really pay attention to her notes and write side comments on her notes. But overall great teacher, I would take her a again.

I love this woman! She is the biggest sweetheart. Her class is all lecture but I found it very interesting. You don't have any homework and class periods are spent going over powerpoints that she posts on blackbloard and you just fill in the blanks. She doesn't take attendance but will randomly have in class activities for points.

Very easy if you go to class and take notes. There is an online open-book quiz every week and only 3 exams. She takes attendance everyday and has 5 random in class writing assignments worth points. Really easy though! I would take her for 100!

This was a really easy class. The exams are mostly common sense and the essays are graded pretty easily. Professor Chaffin is really nice and really tries to help you out if you're having trouble. And she's always happy to be there.

Chaffin is an awesome woman. She's there to help whenever you need it. When it came down it, she will round up your grade at the end of the semester based on your attendance. You've gotta study for her tests, you can't score too highly without studying. A lot of extra credit opportunity, and homework assignments. I recommend her.

I loved Jeanne. She was very kind, clear about how to do well in the class, provided stories alongside lectures to help deepen understanding, and used her time effectively. Her tests are made to in no way confuse or trick you. Downsides? Reading both the textbook and through your notes are necessary. Tough grading on written assignments.

When she takes attendance, if you show up often, these points can be added to your exam scores. Tests were not cumulative so they only covered the chapters you went over since the last test. Even the final was that way. She is so friendly too. Goes around and talks to everyone before class.

She is a great professor. She tries to keep the lectures interesting and gives extra credit opportunities. She does give random class assignments so try to go to class as much as possible: It isn't the end of the world if you miss a couple classes though.

She gives helpful guided notes that become crucial to the exams. She is the kindest woman who cares about the success of all of her students, no matter how many she had. I remember after the first exam, she emailed me and congratulated me for a job well done, and I was in a lecture hall of about 170 students. She's the real deal.

This was a very easy class. Lots of easy writing assignments. She does in class activities usually for points along with taking attendance every class. The material you learn in this class is interesting and is a review for most people. The tests are pretty easy and she grades fairly easy.

This is one of the nicest professors you will ever have! She is absolutely the sweetest, most caring lady. Her and I became close during the semester I had her. She is just a relatively tough grader. She will mark you down on papers for the most stupid reasons! Every paper I turned in she would mark things down for no reason, which was frustrating.

Best teacher Ive taken at Central. She is the sweetest, kindest, most considering professor on campus. The class is a 100 level course, and it feels like one. I showed up to every class, listened to the lecture, and before the final had a 98% in the class.

Professor Chaffin is truly the best professor I've ever had. I have never came across a professor so caring about student success. She makes her lectures very interesting and relatable. Her assignments are fun, and the exams are not too hard. She makes it a point to get to know all 120 of her students in a class. A true gem.

I really enjoyed this professor. She was nice, her class was easy as long as you paid attention. The lectures were a little dry and long and the notes were a bit unorganized but it was a fun environment and I learned a lot.

Not much assignments graded so the weekly quizzes and the tests are important! She is an amazing lady, and does not put you to sleep during her lecture. I always was intrigued. If you don't show up you won't get participation points so if you want a class that's skippable And still get an A, don't take this. But it is SO worth it.

She's such a sweetheart. You don't need the book because literally everything that's one her test she goes over in notes. The only thing you might need the book for is the online weekly quizzes but even then you can search the internet for the answer to that. Participation and class attendance does matter. Isn't a super hard grader at all.

I had some mental health problems that got diagnosed, which lead me to miss some of her classes. However, Jeanne will work with you as long as you email her to explain the situation. I would love for her to teach all of my HDF classes.

She is by far my favorite professor. She was willing to meet me off campus after something happened to make me not comfortable on campus. She was also very aware of possible triggers and gave enough warning. She is the most understanding professor by far!
