Seriously one of the best teachers ever. Calm, cool collected, subtle sense of humor, knowledgeable as all get out. She is a forensic pathologist for the state. She really warms up when people engage her. Fill in the blank notes, some book reading required, practice tests to get you ready. Extra credit projects given. Stay 'till end of class!
I had Jeanne for both AP 1 and 2. She is challenging but very clear about what the tests will be about. She is also really helpful outside of class. I've gone in to her office hours with other classmates and she spent a few hours answering questions for us and clarifying things. Be sure to ask about her work outside of teaching.
One of the best teachers at Lane. Very smart, very dedicated to her students success. You will have to earn you grade, shes tough, but very fair and clear on learning objectives.
I followed Jeanne through the A&P series. Her lectures are clear and she is always available for questions. She's great. By far the best A&P teacher!
Jeanne rocks! You have to work hard for your grade but she is always available to help with q's. She gives you the info you need to know & is very straight forward about the information to learn! Very smart & knowledgeable, as well as eager to learn something new. Never throws out any q's from students and uses logic, etc. Amazing teacher!
Jeanne is a great instructor and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend this instructor to anyone who has a passion for anatomy and physiology!
Jeanne is a great teacher! Never a surprise on the test, she prepares you with many practice tests. Attendance is a must! She is very hard, but you learn what is important. I will take her for as many classes as I can. She doesn't lecture the entire time and you'll always have your hands on something during lab time. She is pretty cool!!
She's not easy, but she is very clear about what to expect on exams. She knows her stuff and loves to teach to interested students. She is very approachable and appreciates hard working students. The off-topic info she gives is minimal but applicable and interesting.
Jeanne is the perfect teacher! Her classes are designed with the student's success in mind. A typical day includes a lecture, some hands on lab time, and a practice test / review for the next test. You enter each test fully prepared, and knowing what to expect. She really sets up her students for success!
She was great! I had her for Bi 231 & 232 and I wish she was teaching 233. She has hard tests, but makes the information exciting and explains it very well. I recommend her.. Just know you will have to study hard.
Jeanne is a great teacher. Great lectures, very informative. I only used the text occasionally just to make sure on things. She is very approachable and very knowledgeable with a great and somewhat morbid sense of humor. Her tests can be hard, but she gives ample time to prepare and give practice tests so you know what you need to study up on.
Great teacher!Very professional, knowledgeable, clear and to the point in lecture, very fair and helpful to students, wants students to really learn &succeed; cultivates interests in science, scientific reasoning, appreciates students' hard work;very approachable! I've learned so much from her in BI231 & 232. I wish LCC would have her teach more!!!
Knowledgeable, professional, expects students to do the work, her tests weed out those who try to memorize or slide through. Exams are knowledge bases with no multiple guess questions. I wish I could attend all of her courses. Attendance is critical for success.
Jeanne is a fantastic teacher! She is interested in the subject matter and making sure her students understand it. She is approachable, friendly and knowledgable. Her tests aren't easy but she gives you ALL information that you need to do well. While not all would appreciate her sense of humor, I really enjoyed the entertainment it added.
Tests directly off her notes. If it wasn't on there, it won't be on the test. I hated that her tests were timed stations where you answer 2-3 questions in 90 sec. I liked that she graded the tests immediately after so you know how you did. Be forewarned: she does not budge on grades - I got an 89.7 and she refused to let me do anything for an A.
Her exams are directly off her slides and notes. She takes exam questions right off of the PAL practice exams. Lecture style tends to be inefficient as she rushes through lectures. Tends to be rude with a smile, which can be a downer for sensitive students.
She isn't very approachable, unless she feels like she has something in common with you. With that being said she lectures clear and precise, will download powerpoints onto flash drives for you but no moodle. Her grading is fair, she uses a lot of practicals in her testing, which is nice because the retention level is higher that way.
Jeanne is very knowledgeable on the subject, and is very good at teaching it. That being said, this is a HARD class and you have to work your fanny off. I almost got an A, but missed by a few points. Nonetheless, she is a good teacher and very clear on what you need to study for exams. She prepares you for her tests and keeps them focused.
Jeanne is my favorite AP instructor at LCC. She is very clear about what is covered, gives printed notes with everything you need to know, and she knows the material inside and out. I found her to be greatly invested in students' success and easy to approach with questions. She is very fair and straight forward, good sense of humor. Take her class!
very very helpful! Stayed after class every friday to help me with all questions... even helped like a doctor. She helped me figure out what was wrong with my shoulder that the doctors couldn't figure out for 2 years. Very calm and helps you stay calm when things could get overwhelming. All in all I would take her all the way through!
Very hard subject but the teacher is very helpful and friendly. A fun class.
Jean is great! She will answer questions and give stories to help you remember. If you study like she says and are there for the classes you'll do great but don't think you can skimp by cause it won't work! Over all great teacher!
The AP series is very hard, but it should be in order for you to learn the most you can. Jeanne is very straight forward about what she expects and if you FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS you will do well. Study, study, study & study some more. She is very kind and willing to help. I was impressed by how organized and and intelligent she is. I learned so much!
Tough, Straightforward. She doesn't allow any excuses, but she is fair.
I love her and her class! She was so clear with everything and she's really knowledgeable about what she's teaching.
I am really enjoying taking Jeanne's A&P 1 class this fall term. She is so knowledgeable and straightforward about what we need to know! Her tests are standing up and they consist of the material that she wants you to know in the NOTES she gives you for each section! I use the textbook for pictures and explanations. I recommend taking her classes!
Jeanne is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Super smart, passionate, and she loves her students. She challenges you, but if you study hard you'll get an A.
She's a great teacher. She expects you to work for your grade. She explains things very well and wants you to be successful. Follow her instructions or you will not do well on the tests. test are times 3 questions in 3 minutes. It can be nerve racking but once you get the hang of it, it is fine. Overall she is the best A&P teacher ive had.
This teacher is difficult and should be. This is a core class that you will likely build your career out of. It is imperative you know the information well to do your job correctly. She is a fair teacher and does everything she can to help her students.
I enjoyed her class. She's smart, and pretty. Go to class, study, and get hands on with microscopes and models. The class is pretty easy if you put some time into the material. I enjoyed it. The only thing I would note is that the test is 30 or so stations with 2-3 questions 2 minutes per station. 20 minute FFA at the end. Might not be for some.
Extremely knowledgeable, organized, clear, and will spend time with individuals. She treats everyone equally. She is a wonderful teacher. Very refreshing. Not an easy class, but if you do well, it is because you learned a lot. That is at least my experience.
Jeanne is very intelligent and straight forward. She gives you a lecture outline & study questions to prep for her exams. She is strict with her grading because she is deliberate and clear with her lectures. Pay attention, show up, study hard & you will do well. A&P is a challenge, but Jeanne gives you all the tools you need to succeed.
If you need to take A&P classes, take her class!! She is the best! Her notes are well organized. She loves to help students and makes things as clear as she can, and she does a very good job at this. Because of the subject, it is not an easy class, so prepare to study really hard. I loved her class and will love to take her class again.
You want someone who knows their stuff, Jeanne is your girl. She is brilliant! She has passion for what she teaches and who she teaches to. You will work, and you will work HARD in her class, but it is totally worth it. Heads up, tests are walking exams. You will have 2min per station, 4 questions at each. Its intense!
Great teacher! Jeanne knows her stuff. She has real life experience out in the field, which makes lectures that much more interesting. She is accessible if you need clarification on anything. If you expect to do well in the class, attend each lecture, participate, put in about 20 hours of studying a week (DON'T CRAM!), and form study groups.
I think it near impossible to get an A in this class. I did well in AP 1, I studied a lot and still was getting just average grades on my tests. Her tests are extremely hard. The class average is below a 70% on all of the tests. Pretty much if you are taking any other classes, you will not get an A. Wouldn't recommend this teacher.
She took 10 points off everyone's midterm grade because someone's phone vibrated in their backpack that she made everyone put at the front of the class. Someone's phone went off during the last lecture class and before even taking the final, she has already taken 10 points off of our final. This class is way too hard for a hundred level class.
Jeanne is an excellent teacher and I enjoyed her lectures, particularly when she related it to her work as a forensic anthropologist . She was available if I ever needed clarification on lecture material. AP is a tough class & you will be required to learn a lot of information in a short amount of time. I studied on average 25-30 hours per week.
Does not use the entire class period available. Covers a vast amount of material very briefly by only reading power points and not elaborating on many specifics and talks so quiet and writes so small it is hard to follow along. I felt like many of the questions were worded to mislead the answer. Not personable, and gives hints to prior students.
Really tough. Have done well in AP series until now. Doesn't lecture about what will be on test. Reads slides and does not elaborate. Tests are hard and confusing. Don't take unless you want to teach yourself. Disappointed that I may have to retake the class even though I study every spare second I have.
As a person, she is super sweet and intelligent. As a teacher, it was kind of difficult to hear her because she has a very soft voice, and during her power-point presentations she included very few visuals on the topics we were discussing--as a visual learner I found this made lectures difficult to follow. Overall great but would not recommend.
She's a very kind person and very detail orientated. My only problem with the class was for the tests, there was no examples or preparation of what will be tested on the models. She does help when you ask questions, and I have found asking her about what models will be on the test helps a lot. She does use labs, but really just study to pass.
Jeanne is my favorite teacher! Her A&P 1 class was tough, but she is available to answer questions and give you 1:1 help. I frequently stayed after class for help. She doesn't provide study guides but if you just talk to her she will steer you in the right direction. Her lectures are interesting, she relates the material to forensic anthropology.
Jeanne was my favorite AP teacher. She is clear on what she expects and very helpful with any questions you may have. There are no surprises when it comes to grading, it is all laid out for you. Her tests are challenging but not impossible.
Such an amazing instructor. Very informative. STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. The tests are difficult, but if you put in the effort to know the material, you'll be fine. I'll have to retake the class, but my only complaint is that she's not teaching it next term.
The tests are a challenge but not impossible. She makes herself available for any questions or gives you ways to improve your study method to help you pass. She is very helpful and her lectures are amazing. Learned so much from her and she really cares about her students. Highly recommend.
Her teaching style was not very effective for me. I know AP is not easy but she is very "heres the material, just study it" Instead of putting herself in our shoes and using a different approach to help simplify the subject, ultimately helping us understand the material and concepts better. Especially for those who have no A&P experience.
She is friendly and available if you need to talk about grades but Tough Grader. Gives no additional credit. Looking through a microscope and analyzing it is her thing which would be a waste if you are only taking LPN and planning to work in a skilled nursing facility. Start of the term we were 30 by the end of the term we were down to 11 students.
Very smart, but will make you feel inferior when you ask questions and is not warm and kind. Test heavy and hard grader, but definitely knows her stuff.
Tough Tough grader. Class felt like a 400 level class. Insane amount of information thrown at you at once with not much direction. Knows her stuff, but does not come down to the average student level for them to understand.
Pretentious. Unnecessarily rude. There is a reason that every other AP teacher fills their class seats and she is the only one left, no one wants to take her. If you need a good grade, look elsewhere.
She wasn't good at helping when I needed it and when I missed an assignment because I got called into work she was very rude and not helpful at all. She doesn't really care if you are having trouble or not.
Loved having her as an instructor. Has I very straight forward and to the point style of teaching which I really liked. Is always willing to get into the weeds if you ask! Tough grader, but if you study hard you should be okay.
I absolutely love Jeanne. I fangirl over her after every lecture. Extremely knowledgeable and will help explain things to you if you ask. She has experience in the field and puts things in perspective. You need to put in the effort and study. If you don't understand something, go to office hours. She will prepare you for what's to come. Fair grader
Terrible! Worst professor I have had in over two years of schooling. Does not care about her students only her income. Your mom could die and she will still not help you in any way shape or form. She does not communicate effectively or timely. We are in a pandemic doing these classes online, paying an arm and a leg, shes using this as a vacation.
She has a lazy all or nothing grading style and when you ask for feed back or challenge anything she's graded she is rude and condescending. She literally told me she didn't care if I did assignments or passed the class. She just quit doing classes for the last 3 weeks because she didn't "want to have to do a bunch of talking." Lazy. Rude. Awful.
I went to register late for A&P back in spring term and she was the only one that had open slots left (I know why now). She focuses on the Anatomy part of A&P not so much the physiological part. Her lectures were dry and slightly helpful at best. She complained about the class average being low and us not understanding stuff, you can guess why.
I really liked Jeanne as a person, so hating her teaching style was tough for me. She is a fascinating person in her professional life, but a god awful lecturer. Her A&P class is geared towards more of a forensics than a medical class, and I ended up retaking it with a different professor because I didn't think I learned what I actually needed.
So much busy work it took away from study time. She would mock students in class when they got answers wrong. It seemed like she didn't want to teach and was there for the paycheck .
Jeanne is extremely knowledgeable. Her class is very structured and if you study you will be fine. When I say study, I mean REALLY STUDY. She is kinda intimidating in my opinion but does want her students to get the material and succeed in the end. Very glad this was an online class though...I don't know how I would've done in person.
This profesor did not help me learn anything before I dropped. It was difficult to understand any of her lectures as well as turning in homework and receiving a zero because you got 4 questions wrong out of 20. I would highly suggest you choose someone else.
I have taken Jeanne now for three terms... Not by my choice. She was not a good teacher, her lectures did not help unless you already work in the medical field or have a vast knowledge of anatomy. She threatened the entire class during the first class. She does not want you to learn the material, and is extremely controlling. DO NOT TAKE HER.
I cannot say enough good things. Her classes are hard and you have to try, but you learn SO much if you want to. Her boundaries are clear, no make ups, no late work. so turn things in, study, go to office hours if you're confused! she is passionate about her work! lectures give you everything you need to get good grades! She just wants effort!
Condescending and rude. Makes the class feel that they are always failing, when she herself takes no accountability. Loads of busy work on top of extremely challenging tests, verbiage will throw you off. She teaches at a university level and would be more beneficial for those interested in lab work/field work not nursing. Surprised she has a job
Condescending to her students. She doesn't encourage growth or opportunity for revision. She simply puts students down for not doing well, when she doesn't put the effort of being a present teacher or helping you with what your stuck with. She has a zero patience zero tolerance policy. Awful teacher, smart but AWFUL teacher!
She's a hard instructor, but as she explains on her first-day Anatomy&Physiology is not something you can do badly in. Would you want a medical professional to not be able to apply information in order to provide care? Of course not. It's challenging so you are prepared. She has office hours that she sticks to and is more than willing to help.
This professor has a very all or nothing grading style. The quizzes have a quick time limit and are worth a lot of points and it feels like the material in the quizzes greatly expands beyond information learned in the lecture and homework. My current term had a very high drop rate late into the term which is very telling. I do not recommend.
Not compassionate. She does not care if you pass or fail. Plays favorites in class.
Prepare to study and memorize tons of information. She has tremendous knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Also, I recommend office hours with her! Quizzes are challenging, but that's how they should be if you plan on having a medical career.
Jeanne wants you to succeed if you are willing to give it your all! She has office hours and will meet with you almost every single day! Utilize it. Go to lectures (online or in person) and she will answer your questions and if you need help. She is a rough grader and wants you to know your stuff. STUDY every day for this class!! Best AP teacher.
If you work hard and flip through notes quickly on an exam you can get an A. Lots of busy work that takes time away from studying but it cushions your grade. Seems to think she's famous. Condensing with a "better than everyone" attitude at a community college. She's a little better than a couple of the other AP teachers at LCC but not by much.
Too much work for very little points, but if you do the work it will go a long way in the exam. She is very strict & does not do make up or accept late work for whatever reason. She has does zoom lectures and also has them recorded to watch later, prioritize them. Her course is cumbersome you may not have time for other courses.
This professor will give you a 0 rating for missing 1 question out of 20. If you would like to waste your time and money and throw your GPA in the toilet, take her class. Lectures are in zoom and recorded so they're not available to access anytime and homework is due shortly after lectures, inflexible schedule for being an online class. The worst.
she loves picking favorites and has no problems degrading students. If I could give her a negative rating on just her horrible teaching skills I would. I will say she is probably the worst teacher I've had in my time at lane. why does she still work as a teacher I'll never know. I can not express enough... DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
There is a reason her class doesn't fill up quickly, take it as a warning sign. She is a very smart and knowledgable person, but unless you want to spend ALL OF YOUR TIME working on this class it's not worth it. If you hate drawing, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! There is a drawing once a week and if it's not perfect then you will get an automatic 0%.
Although I think as person she is very sweet and nice her class is just soul crushing and I have spent nights crying stressing about turning in drawing assignments. Now working at a hospital Lane's program is unnecessarily difficult, most of the stuff I have never used or other RN's have never learned to been forced to memorize, and this is a CC.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. I've always been an A or B student, and the 2 F's I've EVER had have been with her. Her lectures are long and monotone. It's hard to focus on the 3 hour zoom sessions. When students ask questions about the test, she pulls up that person's test in front of the whole class! Very nitpicky with the drawing assignments too.
WORSE TEACHER AT LCC, GET OUT NOW
Jeanne's a great and dedicated teacher. She carefully teaches ahead and prepares you all along the way for concepts to unfold in understanding as you progress through the classes. It's a lot at first- persist- you'll be rewarded! The drawing assignments are very valuable. Jeanne cares deeply and is there for her students. Fascinating, challenging.
The worst professor! She either gives you an A or an F on any assignment no in between. She's very picky about work, if you hate drawing don't take this there are weekly extremely detailed drawing due every week. Weekly quizzes are barely a quiz as they are 30 multiple choice and open ended questions.
Jeanne is an amazing dedicated teacher. If you put the time into this class and dose what she says you will do great. This is a hard class and it should be, if you are complaining about the difficulty find a new major. Do the work, go to office hours, go over your quiz and you will do great!
Grades are based mainly on quizzes which are more like a full exam each week with no notes and barely enough time to answer the 30+ questions. Lectures are a minimum 4.5 hours per week. Every lecture was started with very condescending remarks to the class about how bad we were all doing and she took zero credit for poor teaching style. Be warned!
Just awful. Even if you're able to follow her disorganized 3 hour lectures, her attitude ruins it. She is very demeaning and discouraging towards students and makes you feel like you are better off giving up on your program. Re-taking the class with Snippen this term and it is already a MILLION times better and easier to understand the material!
terrible teacher, DO NOT TAKE!!
Do not take her class. Super hard grader on homework. Very difficult weekly testing. No chance for any make up work or extra credit.
Dropped and retook this class with another teacher (much better). The sentiments other users have provided are correct. I have a degree from another college and this instructor is the worst I've ever had. All or nothing hw grading. Weekly quizzes (more like exams). Excruciating drawings due each week. Wait a term if she's the only class available.
Do not take her class. Super hard grader on homework. Very difficult weekly testing. Weekly drawings. No chance for any make up work or extra credit. She will try and fail you no matter what you do. Nothing is correct to her.
Absolutly awful that LCC lets her in the building. She has no interest in teaching only in stroking her ego. She loves taking points off for any reason that she sees fit. She states in her sylabus that she doesnt like teaching the class and hates people. She only wants to teach her criminal autopsy class at UO. DO NOT TAKE HER! You have been warned
Jeanne is an excellent teacher. She gives you all the information to succeed in her lecture/powerpoint. Get ready to work & study hard. 5 to 5-1/2 hr of lectures a week that must be watched more than once. Complex drawing assignments each week that take many hours but act as amazing study guides if done right. No midterm or final but weekly exams.
Really dont take a class from this one. Rude, demeaning, and not responsive. Will take all your credit for mistakes even if you understand the content. Not a teacher. Go back to work at the morgue.
I tried my best to have a positive outlook because I know sometimes reviews can be inaccurate. BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, don't take her class. IF you work, have kids, take other classes or have a life, this class is not for you. She is stubborn and doesn't have any empathy. You make one mistake on a test or assignment it could result in an F.
Lots of information not enough time to take it all in and complete by the deadline when you have a life outside of this class. I wouldn't recommend if you work a full time job or more already on top of juggling other classes. She grades either an A or an F no in between. All or nothing even if u leave out a minor detail.
Assignments are a huge waste of time unless you learn well from diagrams. I don't, but wasted so much time drawing required diagrams that I couldn't effectively study in ways that actually work for me. Lectures are all over the place and whiteboard are awful. I'd be better off studying the book, but have no time to do so with all the drawing reqs.
After meeting some classmates to try to study, I discovered I wasn't the only one who found her condescending and not a great teacher. Her lectures are insane, assignments do nothing unless you're a visual learner. I'm guessing she learns best that way since EVERY SINGLE ASSIGNMENT is like this. Wish I'd read the reviews before registering.
Worst instructor I've ever had and I've been through undergrad and grad school with an A average. Returned for a career change and dropped to take with another instructor. She expects you to turn her class into a FT job, is completely inflexible, and doesn't realize if most of your class is failing, maybe it isn't the students who are the problem.
The WORST professor I have ever had, Im usually an A student and have never felt so discouraged by a teacher. Not understanding in the slightest, won't even tell you what to fully expect on the quizzes because everything is “fair game”. Makes it impossible to study, especially with the insane drawing assignments given each week, which don't help.
AWFUL. This professor makes you want to scream and cry. She has no empathy at all whenever you ask for help she will blame it on you for "not paying attention" and backhand you while you're at it. Drawing assignments are a complete waste of time. Do not take this class if you have any sort of life or even take other classes.
TERRIBLE!!! I have never been so discouraged by a professer. An awful uncaring teacher. She shouldn't be allowed to teach considering her lack of empathy
Without a doubt, the worst professor I've ever had. She's straight-up mean and has huge assignments that leave you no time to actually study and then will give you a zero on them if you miss anything at all. You can get 90% done and correct but if you miss 10% of it, she will give you a zero. Not a single point.
I took Jeanne last term and ended up having to retake the class with someone else. Jeanne is an unkind, arrogant professor. Clearly she learns from drawings and that is ALL she does, from messy unorganized whiteboards to the 12+hr drawing assignments each week. I think she needs to reevaluate and realize some people don't learn that way
I don't know how else to put this..this is hands down the worst, most frustrating class I have ever taken! I have never struggled so hard.Take the class with another professor and I'm sure you'll succeed. You can memorize the whole slideshow and then she'll throw questions on the quiz with things you've never seen before. Save yourself please.
If I can tell you one thing it would be to take A&P with Santana, Nichols or Snippen. Jean is smart but don't let that fool you. Go take this class with someone else!!!
She's knowledgeable about the subject matter, but just an overall awful person who isn't suited to teach.
One of the worst if not THE worst professor I have ever had. Got my first F in her class. Textbook is required but STRONGLY discouraged. You could not pay me to suffer through her class again. I have never felt more discouraged from an educator before. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS especially if you have any sort of life at all. Save yourself.
Nearing the end of the term and I am not kidding I don't have a single good thing to say about Jeannes teaching style.NEVER TAKE ONE HER CLASSES! This class was just a waste of my money that dropped my GPA. I wish I would have listened to all the terrible things about her because they are true. She should stop teaching and go focus on anthropology
The ONLY good thing about this class is the fact that your lowest quiz score gets dropped. Even then you will still fail. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I have taken so many college courses and this was the first one I've ever had to retake. That is, after hours upon hours of time dedicated to learning the course material. The weekly quizzes steeply increased in difficulty as the course went on and, when the class had an F average on one, she still found a way to blame us. Do not take this class.
Just dont. The professor does not want you to succeed. Odd grading system,1 or 100 no in between for meticulous drawinga assignments every week. Lecture-heavy videos that are unbearable to watch.
