She is awesome. Very fun and informative class.
nice lady
Mrs. Urie's class was one of my favorite classes! She is so much fun and very nice! She is fun to talk to and very caring! Her class is exciting and never boring! Everyone should take her class, and it is not too difficult!
Ms urie is an amazing teacher, she does some of the best class asignments and tries to help you with anything and is very resonable, TAKE THIS CLASS, SHES AWESOME
Mrs. Urie is the best english teacher I had. Her class was so fun. It was a challenge that is very doable. She's not bad looking either ;)
geat teaching ability but a very demanding teacherif someone wants a challenging course please enroll
Jeanne is AWESOME! She makes class a lot of fun to be in. She is always available to help you! She will email you back even on the weekend! TAKE THIS CLASS!!
mrs. urie was my fav. teacher at TCC she knows what shes doing while having fun. awesome teacher and would deff. recomend for english
Mrs. Urie is an awesome, caring teacher who is 100% ready to help you if you need it. Take her Comp 2 class if you are somewhat of a people person; there is a TON of group work and some presentation involved! Obviously there is also a lot of writing, but she doesn't expect you to be at expert level and will help however she can.
She is a very good teacher, but she expects you to follow her exact instructions. I recommend this class
I loved Jeannes class and I wish she was teaching a comp II class.
She is an awesome teacher! I waited till someone dropped her class and had to enroll late just so I could get in her class. She is passionate about what she does and really cares about her students.
She expects quite a bit but will help you through all of it.
Mrs Urie is great! I would not have made it through Comp I if it wasnt for her! She was always very helpful. She was the best teacher that I have had in college so far. I highly suggest taking her! She is awesome
Mrs. Urie is great! I had her in high school and I took her for Comp I as well. She was always there to help! No matter how stupid the question may have been, she was there! I wish all college professor's were like her! I totally love her!
Jeanne is awesome!! This is a very challenging class, but she does everything to help you through it. I HIGHLY recommend taking her!!
Mrs. Urie is an awesome teacher. You have to put forth an effort in this class, but she is extremely helpful. I highly recommend taking her class.
Jeanne is very nice, helpful, understanding, and personable. She checks email multiple times daily and is completely understanding if you have an emergency. I feel that more material could have been focused on. She is extreme with giving detailed instructions.I caught myself over analyzing and doing more work than needed due to too manyintructions
Ms. Urie expects alot out of her students but prepares them for it. You leave her class feeling liek you actually learned something. I recommend her.
Great teacher! Jeanne was very clear on all her assignments, she ALWAYS emails back VERY soon. She makes class projects interesting and is very personable. Walks you through all assignments, and offers extra help. I'm taking her again for COMP 2 this Spring.
Mrs. Urie is awesome! I loved having her for a teacher. She's informative and helpful, she explains everything very well and walks you through every essay. The final was easy. This was my favorite class.
i couldnt stand taking her class, it wasnt hard as much as it was difficult to follow. the class wasnt the smallet bit intelectual, and required practicly no deep thinking at all, however this may be what your looking for, but for me it was like going back to highschool english everyday haveing to learn the same thing over and over again.
She is awesome! =) Very laid back atmosphere, but still teaches the material effectively. She's always there to help, and you have plenty of chances to revise any previous assignments!!
she is a very good teacher. assignments are easy, but she bunches her instructions up making it sound harder than what it is. she is very fun. and beware she is a fast talker. and if you like anything besides OU be prepared to get some nice critisicm from her. as a joke of course, nothing to mean.
It's not an extremely difficult class but just challenging enough to so that you won't feel like you're wasting your time. She is so helpful. She explains exactly what she wants to see in the papers, gives examples, and lets you see the grading rubric ahead of time. Your writing skills will definitely improve after taking this class.
Mrs. Urie coaches her students more than traditional teaching. She gets very involved in each students paper and does all she can to help us succeed. She is crazy about MLA though
I took the class as an 8 week over the summer course online. It's not too bad. A few essays and a research paper among small reading assignments. She did give very good corrections for my papers all of which weren't bad writing assignments. Overall, I thought it was easy even considering it was an 8 week course.
MOST AMAZING COMP 1 TEACHER EVER!! VERY NICE AND CARING TEACHER. I RECOMMEND THIS CLASS. SHE'S AWESOME!! :)
Very good!
Taking this class online is kinda difficult. she giving you alot a work. must work a 1 hour in lab. a test every week. the biggest points are the essay's. I would not take this class online.
this class was not easy but taught me alot and because of this class i aced comp II. she is an awesome an dedicated teacher!
Mrs. Urie is very helpful when you ask but, she does give a lot of work!!! If you pay attention to what she wants you will pass the class..I took her in a 8 week class and passed with a B but I also worked very hard for it.
It's difficult to find good comp teachers because there are so many classes offered at TCC. I took her class a few semesters ago and have found that what she taught about writing research papers to be extremely useful. She is really kind and helpful. Works with students one on one and teaches the writing process well. I learned so much!
Ms Urie is awesome! I took her 8 week Comp 1 class. It can be a bit difficult at times but she is very helpful! I passed with a high A!
Took her for intro to lit and LOVED it! She explains things in a crystal clear way and ACTUALLY CARES about your success in the class. I would definitely recommend her!
GREAT TEACHER! QUIZ OVER ASSIGNED READING AT THE START OF CLASS!! She is very knowledgeable and helpful! WRITING ASSIGNMENTS CAN BE DONE IN CLASS
Mrs. Urie is a fun teacher to take. However, she is hard and her goal is to "make your brain hurt." She does just that! She is very knowledgeable and helpful. There is a ton of writing to be done. The final essay is a 7 page research paper. Attendance is mandatory if you want all your points for quizzes and in-class assignments. Great teacher!
I took the 8 week online class and she is very nice, and helpful when she gets back to you. She doesn't do make up work, so get it done on time. She is hardcore about format also.....gives 0s if it isn't right. Overall good teacher but not an easy A.
8-week online class. The good: She grades fairly, you will get the grade you earned. The bad: She will not respond to e-mail on the weekends. I found it difficult to deal with Wed and Fri deadlines, and would have preferred Sunday as most TCC online instructors use. Wish she could have given me one one-day extension, if so I would have had a B.
I got an A, but I had to work at it. She is a tough but fair grader on essays and is very clear about what she wants. If you have trouble, she's happy to clear it up. I had a lot of fun in this class, and I definitely think she's a good teacher. I recommend her to anyone who enjoys reading and is willing to do the required work.
Great teacher, you need to put on your seatbelt and hold on but you will end up learning alot and with a decent grade.
Awesome teacher! Yes, it's a college class, it's requres work, but she is the most helpful teacher I have ever known. She actually corrected a few mistakes that I pointed out and acted appreciative instead of being snarky about it. She didn't seem extremely picky about grading papers. Take her class!
Ms. Urie is the best teacher at TCC. I took Comp 1&2, Intro to Lit, & Poetry Writing all taught by her; I got an A in each of her classes but I did work for it. The work load is not unbearable and she helps any way she can (even helped me with a personal project)! I have nothing bad to say about her. Super nice lady! TAKE HER CLASS! :)
8 week online class, a lot of work in a short amount of time but its pretty easy if you keep up. She grades fair and and you will do well if you put in the time. I would take this class instead of a regular full semester class much easier.
I took her class online. There is ALOT of reading, between 50-100 pages a week. There is 3 essay's, a midterm exam and final. I did not like that she assigned us homework, an essay and a final (which was two essay's) during finals week without giving us a heads up. I found this class boring since I have no interest in literature at all.
Her class was fairly difficult yet it was rewarding in terms of learning and understanding literature. There was a lot of textbook reading each week, at least 50 pages a week. There were also three assignments a week and three essays and two presentations throughout the semester.
Class is hard and requires a ton of effort but if you like to read this is the class for you. Urie is highly enthusiastic about literature and she loves to teach. It's very apparent that she wants you succeed She's easy to talk too, helpful in letting you know exactly what she wants and answers any questions you might have about assignments.
Her class was not easy, but you do learn a great deal. I took her for Comp1 and she fully prepares her students for comp2. I had another professor for Comp2 and I was completly prepared for the class and was ahead of everyone else, which made the class so much easier. She is an amazing teacher and she does really care!
Took Speech 1113 online. Loved her class! She was very encouraging and explained what was expected of each speech. I would take any of her classes no problem. The work was difficult but she was helpful and fair. Not to mention she was just nice. Returned emails promptly and answered questions. Highly recommend
She gives way too much work and she is very harsh on grading the essays. Do not take this class unless you have time to spend hours working on it. She also seems sarcastic with her responses.
I took an 8 week online class. There were lots of assignments to do. It was a little challenging but very time consuming. I was spending a minimum of a full day every weekend doing her assignments plus many hours during the week. She is a good teacher and answers emails quickly but don't take fast track and expect it to be easy
I learned a lot from this course: it absolutely improved my writing ability and familiarity with MLA. I think she grades fairly, and doesn't change a grade once it is given. But she is *very* fast to respond by email and answers all questions thoroughly. It was a lot of work, but well worth it!
Jeanne is very willing to help her students succeed in her class. However, there are a lot of assignments due on a weekly basis, especially at the beginning of the semester. A lot of these assignments are graded on completion and very easy. I would suggest taking this class if you have the time to devote to multiple assignments per week.
Freshman Comp II is automatically a class expected of papers and work. Professor Urie puts a unique spin on the course by incorporating crime, murder, and drama into her assignments. She makes it fun, but expects you to put in effort. She is a tough grader on MLA formatting, but she offers up all expectations of her students. Do the work, get an A.
I've had the worst experience with this class. I took the online course and her instructions were so unclear. Absolutely has no mercy on late assignments. My son was sick on one of the weekends that a research paper was due, I turned the paper in one hour late and she would not accept it. Only take this class if you have a lot of time on your hands
I've read a lot about people saying the course has too many assignments and she's not clear in her expectations - that's a lie. If people actually read the fine print, she's very clear as to what she expects. Assignments aren't difficult by any means as long as you turn them in on time. Easy A as long as you do the work. Not a class for lazy people
Challenging class, had to work for grade, essays were clear, assignments and essays long, usual due on fridays and sundays
Comp 2 was such an enjoyable class with professor Urie! The online class was based around the theme of crime. This class definitely required time and participation, but the assignments are well thought out and enjoyable. Really enjoyed this class, and was not an excessive workload.
If you're excellent at writing essays and want to be challenged then take this class, if not then I would suggest an easier class. Good luck.
Took both fast track for comp 1 and comp 2, absolutely love it. A lot of online and time consuming assignments, only take this class if you have a lot of time on your hands. The assignments are challenging but they are not too hard. She will help you if you need it, but there is no mercy on late assignments, even if they are just an hour late.
Professor Urie was absolutely wonderful. I took her comp 1 class and can say that I made the best decision in doing so. She was funny and very helpful when answering any questions you made have. There was quite a bit of work within her class but it was always important. She was also a little "nit-picky" on papers but gave great feedback.
I loved taking Professor Urie! I took her for comp 1 and 2 my first semester of college, she was super helpful and easy to talk to. I did 8 week courses so its was speedy, discussion boards and one paper a week usually. We met once a week for three hours. She's super responsive! The textbook helped with MLA formatting if you tend to forget citing
She was an excellent professor who cares greatly about her students. Not gonna lie its a tough class, but she gives you the tools to make it through and is very quick to respond with any questions you have and happy to proof essays before turning in. Be sure you thoroughly read assignment instructions and are clear before completing assignments.
I took Professor Urie for an online 8 week class. It was 100% online class comprised of 4 essays, 1 final visual presentation, weekly journal assignments (1-2) and weekly discussions with the class. I loved her feedback and her email response to questions. She replied quickly and gave great feedback. I thoroughly enjoyed her class!
If you like writing then this is the class for you. If you hate to write then DO NOT take this class unless it is required. soooo much reading (stories you wont like) sooooo much writing. So I would say its a good class if you like writing. Teacher gives good feedback. Responds to emails and questions. The tests are hard and timed. book is needed
Very kind and tries her best to make her students successful. Finish all the work and you will pass. Would be better if there was a little more in depth introduction to the essay writing portion for those not as well versed in MLA or essays in general. Also some more variance in the topics of the first few weeks assignments would be amazing.
Took the online 8 week fast track for Composition 1. Focus was "Pop Culture" being the main topic for the FOUR major papers. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF: -you do not enjoy reading dozens of pages a week about how to write -you do not enjoy analyzing pop culture and doing research on it -you do not have *lots* of free time to research for papers
I took Jeanne for Comp I and she was amazing. Offered extra help outside of class and was clear in her expectations. The class was super easy and engaging. I was hoping to take her for Comp II but wasn't lucky enough. She's definitely a great professor and explains until you understand.
Professor Urie takes her job very seriously and does all she can to help her students. She actually arrives an hour early before the start of class to prepare and help those who may need it. Her lectures are very entertaining, she keeps a positive and energetic atmosphere in her class throughout the semester.
Way too much reading. If you work full time, it is hard to find the time to read all of the long, unusual stories.
I took the eight week course for Intro to Lit. It was a tough course with a TON of reading. However, the professor was very sweet and I would absolutely take her again. If you do not have time to read 400 pages in a week along with an essay test and discussion boards i would not recommend this class to you in an eight week course.
She was fine, but I hated this class. A LOT of reading, and a lot of assignments. If you have plenty of time to spend on homework, go with her. But if you take other classes with it and work, just be prepared to work your butt off even harder.
I took her 8 week online comp 2 class. The first few weeks you do use the textbook to do A LOT of reading, but it calms down. She gives feedback on all of our essays. Email her before hand with a rough draft shell correct it! Its A LOT of work, including a 9 hour podcast, interesting though! Shes incredibly smart and absolutely wonderful!
Great professor, but she's a tough grader on essays so take advantage of the writing center.
I took her for a 8 week course online and it was tough. She crammed way to much work that it was overwhelming. I know it was an eight week, but it was over excessive the amount of work. You have to do journal entries, quizzes, discussion boards, essays, and 2 projects. For the final you have to write 2 well developed essays in an hour and a half.
I have never had such a wonderful Professor. She is fun and engaging. If you need work, she will tell you. If you're doing great, she'll tell you, and she will keep polishing your skills up. She's funny and will always put a smile on your face. You will miss her after you complete one of her classes. Always take Professor Urie's classes. Always.
Urie is a great teacher that appreciates classroom participation. She will require a lot of reading on top of typical assignments. The more engaged you are with classroom conversation, the better she responds. She will give feedback on papers after grading but is willing to help if you communicate your struggle.
There is a LOT of reading in this course, obviously, as well as many homework assignments. In-class participation matters a lot, and you will be expected to do so. However, she is a very fair grader, very willing to work with you if problems come up, and puts in effort to make her classes interesting. Despite it being work heavy, this class was fun
I really loved this professor! I took her for 8 weeks online and it was a lot since it was a short period of time. She is really caring and responds to your questions right away. We had a few papers to write but all of them were really good topics.
I LOVED Professor Urie! Going into comp 2, I was nervous, especially with it being eight weeks and online. Professor Urie made the class super enjoyable. I loved every assignment. Each one built on another and helped you with the major assignments. She always left extremely detailed feedback on my papers and would respond to any question ASAP
I took her for College Success. The assignments are very easy to do but she is a tough grader. I find myself struggling to get a good grade on a couple of assignments even though I follow the instructions and try to be extra. I do recommend her but be sure to try your best.
I loved Professor Urie's class!! Best teacher I've had at TCC would 10000% recommend her class to anyone. If you do your assignments and actually try you should be good.
I had Professor Urie for college success. Overall the online class was easy. If you do all your assignments and participate in discussions you will be fine.
Professor Urie is one of the best professors at TCC. I took her class for comp I and was unsure as to what to expect. She retaught us from the beginning on how to write and is so helpful. All of her assignments are completion grades (minus essays) if you follow the directions she gives you. She is such a great person and an even better professor.
LOVED her as a professor!!! Would definitely recommend her for a Comp professor (Especially if your a criminal justice major, or just enjoy true crime! her class covers a lot of true crime). I took an 8 week class and the work load wasn't horrible! Assignments could be difficult, but were still interesting and normally fun.
Love her!! She is an amazing teacher with lots of experience. I learned more in her class than I did in high school. She has flexible office hours which are very useful. You can tell she has a passion for teaching and is always open to help you. I am a quite student, but she made me feel noticed. I miss her so much! 100000/10 experience!
Urie is my favorite professor I've ever had. She cares about her students and helps them succeed. I took her Comp I and College Success class. Comp is lots of reading and writing, but that is in any comp class, and it wasn't overwhelming. Urie really explains everything, nothing is confusing, and you can successfully complete the assignments.
Professor Urie an opp no cap.
I love professor urie she was an inspiration. She keeps all the snacks stocked. The children of her class are happy. Her class was super fun and interesting. NO CAP ON DA SET.
very good professor
I enjoyed this class, good teaching. I do not always feel like i learn each year in english but the two semesters i had mrs urie I defintily did improve.
This class was difficult, because it was an 8 weeks course. Overall there were 7 responses, 7 discussion board posts, 4 assignments, 3 essays, 1 research paper, 1 research presentation, and a final exam essay. The class is well organized and layed out in a way that it can be completed in 8 weeks. She gives good feedback and grading.
Professor urie makes it abundantly clear that she will be grading heavily for performance not effort. Going above and beyond gets you nowhere. Gives quite a bit of work making it tough to keep up as a full time student. Also has hidden assignments in syllabus. Would not take again.
Professor Urie will prepare you for writing papers in college! She picks very interesting topics for essays (true crime podcasts, etc). Her class is fair &organized. If you follow the syllabus you will easily stay on top of things. You do a lot of work in class and she gives a lot of help in class too. I took her for Comp 1 & 2 and enjoyed both.
Urie wants to prepare her students for success in their other classes. She teaches more than just writing. She teaches us to read academic texts and think critically about all the messages the media is throwing our way. She is a tough grader, but she truly cares about her students and will do all she can to help each student succeed.
I enrolled in this class as a concurrent junior. I was not the best writer, but I feel like it made me grow so much. I feel confident writing a paper now because of Dr. Urie! She is an awesome professor and I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Once you figure out how to navigate her class and her grading criteria, you'll do perfectly fine!
Dr. Urie is by far my favorite professor I have had at TCC. She is quick to respond to emails and answer any questions you may have. She gives great feedback on papers and challenges your critical thinking. Her theme of true crime and the justice system made the assignments enjoyable. Would loved to have taken her for Comp I.
Doctor Urie AMAZING! She was always ready to help and offered times to come in early to review your papers! Her class helped me so much with writing essays. It was always an enjoyable experince to attened her class. Her assignments are long and you almost always have homework but its never anything crazy. 12/10! Have so much respect for her!
Dr. Urie is a great professor, but be prepared to put in the work! If you are used to doing the bare minimum, her classes a
Professor Urie's class was an interesting ride. The work could be challenging, but with Unstuckstudy and some dedication, I managed to pull off a solid grade. Her genuine passion for the subject kept things engaging.
She is awesome. She works so hard to make us feel loved and cared for, and she sincerely wants the best for all her students. Take her. You will not regret it. She is the absolute best!
She clearly knows what she's talking about, but spends way more time teaching about subjects she finds interesting than teaching her classes how to write. There's an insane amount of reading for each class, and harsh grading on essays. I liked her a lot more towards the end of the semester.
If you have 2 things going on in life and you take this class as an 8 week course, you may be able to be flexible but overall you have to constantly be on top of deadlines and discussion boards is your attendance. There is extra credit and she is flexible as well. Instructions to assignments are sometimes unclear.
Dr. Urie is an amazing professor. Her class is very hard and has a lot of work but it was always manageable. I learned so much in this class and she literally taught me how to write. Not to mention that she genuinely cares about her students lives and wants to be a light for everyone. Would take her again.
While this class was extremely time consuming it is worth your time. The crime themed class taught me a lot about how the media shapes our opinions on things. I absolutely love Dr. Urie and would take her class again. The class was hard but I learned so much through it.
She is a great teacher and very good with her students and being involved. She gave great feedback to help me with my work
Jeanne didn't care about her students passing. Her grueling workload, unforgiving grading, and unapproachable demeanor created a stressful, unsupportive class environment. I strongly advise avoiding Jeanne's classes unless you're prepared for constant frustration and little encouragement.
Dr. Urie is awesome if you want to learn. Several students in my class tried to get by using ChatGPT, and she caught them. They are BITTER, and you can tell by some of the recent reviews. She will call you on your AI use because she genuinely wants students to learn how to think and write for themselves. If you plan to cheat, I would look elsewhere
I really enjoyed her class, I feel like I understand essay writing so well now.
Professor Urie is the best!! She gives out more work than I was used to, but she definitely has prepared me for all of my future classes after I took that class. She is very intentional with her students and will take the extra time out of her day to give extra feedback if needed. Overall, she is a caring teacher and loves her students!
If you put the time and effort into the class, you will pass. There was a weekly reflection, two essays, and the final was a 6–8-page essay. I learned, wrote, and read so much. She's a great professor!
Two weekly assignments that felt relevant to preparing someone for college. Gave clear instructions in how to receive the grade we wanted. Good online course that I would recommend anyone to take!!
