Very unhelpful, always ****es at people for no reason, an overall Jap wannabe!

Torture at every turn Leduc is rude and tends to lash out
i thought i did pretty well on the midterm but still on a c- dropped the course after midterm

very bad teacher, she simply hate everyone
I took her class once and got an B+. MY comment on her lecture was she tried to use an Asian way of teaching and thinking to deal with her students(e.x strictness). But it turned out that the students and she didn't get a good relationship they expected.
I lived in japan studying the language for 4 yrs took this class for a good grade . she hated me and most of other students. very biased. unpleasent class. thoughtof slashing tires. thinks she is japanese but the exact opposite.
she blows
She is really strict in marking, but her exams are not too hard, but to get a high grade is really difficult.
Ppl! You really need to make an effort to complain about this person at the Student Union Building(that's why you pay ur student fee!). This woman is crazy n we should tolerate this no longer. She's not picky, she's just finding faults with you!
You are nothing in this woman's eyes
Comes at students with a vengence. Doesn't have any rapport with class and subjects students to verbal and mental abuse. Class not a learning experience but rather a torture session. Even Army Drill Sargents would be afraid of her.
leduc is a BAD HIRE and in need of medication. passive aggressive and rude, avoid at all cost!
She is picky, but she is fair. If you have an enterest in Japanese, you will be fine. Her class was very helpful. She is ok.
don't take her course never ever!
Good Japanese teacher, you will learn a lot if you make an effort. But be warned: if you can't take verbal abuse, stick with another teacher.
hard to get above a B in her class since japn has a totally different average rating system. leduc is just full of hatred. doesnt treat her students as humans. i dont find her teaching skills very helpful. all the grammar she explained to us was unclear.
She is so picky. Although wrote the collect answer on board, she loved to find other things to pick on....

Leduc is without a doubt the worst teacher I have ever had. Even her basic Japanese skills-kanji and pronunciation-are lacking. She is unpleasant, unhelpful and unfriendly, and should have been fired years ago.
FOUR LETTERS~~ HARD!!
why do these people feel the need to complain so much?! she is not this bad at all. she is trying to make the best out of a bad situation - which is teaching a lot of material in a very short time. japanese is difficult - do your work, dont attack her
****, Bigoted, Horrible... I learned absolutley nothing because I was too busy counting how many pieces of chalk she broke because she is so tense.. a real spaz.
she is supa hard.. and da ways she teaches is not gd.. she is supa hard on ur writing.. and really easy to loss my on ur midterm... in combine of everything.. only one word... TERRIBLLE
she only wants to finish her work on time.she doesn't care if students understand or not.
she's terrible....she only likes students who she likes and ignore others....she's the worse prof that i met in langara.
Haaa, after the first midterm, 1/2 of the people dropped her class...she is so hard, mean and give you a load of homework, that you have no time for nother homework anymore....BAD, BAD TEACHER!!
If you want to fail and waste money, try her class. She is the ruddest teacher I have ever met in my entire life.
Yes she may be picky, but she's not that bad. As long as you know your vocab and how to construct sentences, you're fine. You'll pass with a C+ for sure. But she does give out quite a lot of hw, but her hw helps prepare you for the exams and quizzes.
Hey, actually she is not that bad at all!!!! As long as you attend her classes, do homework, and study, you'll be fine and pass with a B at least. There is no way to get an A if you are not doing anything, especially Japanese!!!
Her class was so boring. You can fall asleep behind the back of the class, but obviously u can't becuz she's always picking out names from her list to answer her questions. She talks really fast and if u notice she blinks awfully alot when she speaks.
She is a very hard marker. Every character has to be perfect and has to be at the excat angles. She loves to pick on her students and entertains herself by addressing her students with rude and inapproiate comments. I will not recommend this teacher.
a terrible teacher... helpless. concerns on characters writing than explaining. i don't think she knows how to teach japanese.
Would of aced this class if I didn't lose marks for writing on every single question.

I had total fun in the class.Due to social pressures at home I had to drop as I lagged abit behind:( Marks VERY HARD.I laughed at the pithy comments IE, I did this in Gr2 and got 100%Will correct errors in marking.I was upset with only 73 on the midterm.Would be very hard to achieve an 'A' with her.
Plz don't take this course!!!!!!!!!! if you want to know what i am saying,go ahead and take the course. You WILL be crying all night that you did not listen to me!!
Very bad teacher. Dull, no attitude, very UNCLEAR. Doesnt care for students, picks out students n make uncalled for remarks towards students. Focus's more on the ENGLISH grammer for transalation than actual japanese..dont take this class
DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER, unless you want to be embarrassed every lecture by her asking you things that she never taught. She spends too much time fixing people's ENGLISH in a JAPANESE class. Also is super picky on hand writing and will take marks off! Learn Japanese from a Japanese person instead!!!
She's probably the worst prof. in Langara College. Being in her class is like being in hell. So my advice is to completely stay away from her.
i never take her course b4, but dun take it even ur schedule can fit her course only. all my frds go in her class and hv to drop very fast...one semester..hayashi needs to take over her class coz there are only 3 students left..worst teacher ever...poor hayashi sensei..datz y have takai i think
she always says her students are rude, but turn out she is the rudest people in the class. pick on people for no reason. if you wanna fail and have money to waste, just take her class

SHE IS VERY VERY HARD AND PICKY!!!!!!

worst teacher in langara... seriously if u want 2 drop ur GPA, lose ur dignity, happiness and ur money take her class.. SHE PICKS ON PEOPLE ALOT. like if u come in late or eat/ drink she makes a sene. i already fail her course be4 u start it. WORST TEACHERS EVER ----> can;t express that enuff
the worst instructor in langara
I didn't think she was as hard as most people make her out to be. Study for the exams, come to class and you'll do fine. And a good grasp of basic English grammar is important as it counts when doing translations, and why wouldn't it since the class is taught in English?
she is very picky on ur eng language, make fun of students constently, specially the students who seat close to her, she's well known unfrdly teacher in langara, thats the reason y her class never full,i also found out that she is not marry, a woman who are not marry in age 60, u guys better watch out!
I always provide constructive criticism about my former prof's, but for Leduc it is impossible. She the most unfriendly teacher in B.C. and scares the living daylights out of everyone. Langara, wake up and fire this teacher.
She was unapproachable and intimidating, as well as unfriendly. I felt uncomfortable asking questions because she would condescend her students. In my opinion she should have left this career years ago. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
This Woman is scary as hell! Beware! She treats u like an imbesile if u cant answer a question humiliating u in front of the class, there was a couple of us who didnt get into the class till the 3rd day. She hated us all and wouldnt give us the notes or quizzes she had already given out. She is a WITCH! I lasted 2 weeks! For 1st semester very scary
If you have extra money, take her course

Very condescending. Not a pleasant person, doesn't treat students well at all. A terrible woman to take Japanese with. Advice? GET INTO CHOJI HAYASHI'S JAPN CLASSES INSTEAD.
Take another teacher is you can, but if you cant dont totally stress. She's not as bad as people make her out to be. Just make sure you study outside of class, she will call on you in class.
She is so picky on the writing, and her notes are not very good. She is the worest teacher i ever took.

OMG! I have NEVER had such a horrible teacher in all my life! She is degrading, insulting, and rude! Students have honestly tried to get her fired, but she's impossible to get rid of! Going her classes is like letting Mary Poppins' evil twin beat you with a dictionary! Do NOT waste your money! Stick with Hayashi!
Leduc takes your education very seriously, and so should you. She appreciates maturity. This is not a difficult course, nor is Leduc a difficult professor. Attend all classes, study your vocab/particles, and you will get a B minimum. Midterms are quite easy. If you fear her, it will only mean you will come to class more prepared. EASY B --> -A.
If you love Japn and think that it's fun to learn, Don't Take Her class. Her teaching skills are poor and she puts you down if you are struggling with something. She has no structure to her lesson and has poor time management. I highly recommend taking another instructor.
don't take her class
She is not that bad. nice person. But she is quite picky. Always follow her guidelines when writeing the exams or quizes. hard marker. But if u attend class reguarly and understand all the materials. u will do well! I like her!
she wasn't very nice to begin with. even asking questions seem to be a crime in her class. i dreaded the first 4 days of going to her class before i dropped out of it.
She's condescending to all the students in the class. Very rude. Sucks all the fun out of learning something I'm really excited to learn.
she is so meannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
Ugh! I ended up dropping this course because I could not stand this woman. She never humiliated me toooo badly in front of the class but I watched in horror as she berated others for pronounces vocab in a way which sounded exactly the way she pronounced it. Lectures aren't structured & she's just plain mean & evil. She doesn't seem to enjoy teachin
SHe's the worst teacher I've had at langara. She intimidating and condescending. She offered no extra help and often didn't even understand the question students were trying to ask her. I strongly advise you to chose another teacher for Japanese 1115.
she makes you well prepared for test and if pay attention in class, read over dialogs and the notes you'll do really well. you have to be commited to study japanese, thats what it all comes down to.
I agree with most of the assessments here. The course isn't particularly hard (she didn't design it anyway), but she is such a bad teacher, so unfriendly and outright hostile, that taking her classes is very unpleasant. Plus, her Japanese isn't that great. Work hard and you'll do ok -- I got A's -- but my advice is to avoid her courses if you can.
A dead houseplant would make a more effective and stimulating teacher (the plant would be more pleasant and have better Japanese ability, too). How has she not been fired a thousand times over?
dont take her class unless you really enjoy suffering her rudeness and offensive words. I was one of the best students in her class, and my grade was good, too. But I have to say, she never knows how to respect others.
I'm tired of hearing what a horrid teacher she is; she is blunt and sometimes rude, but is a good person and wants you to do well. This course is not for everyone, and you must study almost everyday to get an A. KNOW VOCAB!! memorize in-class notes, and study all kanji, even the ones you never think you'll see again...you will!
horrible teacher. avoid at all costs. she's picky about writing characters while her characters look terrible anyway. same with her fu and r row pronouciations. the shrill of her voice makes it so hard for me to fall asleep in class (i've already taken japanese classes before so i was bored) now she makes me "volunteer", sometimes 3 times
Leduc seems really scary at first but she is actually really nice if you get to know her. She is just really strict but she is also very helpful. Don't take this class if you're easily scared by strict teachers... but, you will likely do well in Japanese after this class because it is so strict. She is actually really nice if you talk to her.
Not very good at teaching Japanese at all. Not a particularly bad person...just don't take her class, for the sake of your sanity.
never take her class...!!! seriously you will regret for rest of your life cause ur GPA will drop.. i'm 100% sure!!!!!!!!! she has bad pronounciation and plus her writings are not good! i know that i can pronounce better than her and write better.. she is the worst teacher!!
She's a hard & picky marker, especially on translation into English from Japanese, etc...Pay attention to class notes, and memorize it well...then u will do fine...she's not horrible, she's just strict, don't do anything rude, go to class, do your work, study, then she will not give u any hard time~
If i suck japanese and hate it for the rest of my life. ITs ludec's fault

dont waste your money.trust me take hayashi! he's the best yo.
Ms. Leduc,is the gong show. She makes unrealistic expectations on her students, expectations she has not lived up to(she wanted us to learn the 50+ Katakana symbols in 7 days & took her over a year to learn. She is arrogant & obviously lives a loney existence.
she's the worst! she asked me what my name was every class! i didn't have much respect for her cuz she had no respect for anyone! she needs to go back to teaching 101! just cuz she lived in japan for some odd years don't mean her japanese is perfect! she makes learning japanese very difficult with her attitude! im surprise she is still teaching!
i registered 3 days after the the class started, and she plain refused to answer questions on the material i had missed. irresponsible and downright RUDE!! 2 thumbs down.. a disgrace to the college
decent class. difficult but fair marker. try to memorize the dialouge from the text as much as u can since thts what she bases her tests on. i don't blame her if she gets mad at ppl who asks dumb question. i thought it was gonna be a bad experience prior to this class but it turned out ok. if ur serious bout jpnese then this class should be kantan.
Strict and mean at 1st, but hey, she's a teacher. Don't expect to make friends w/ her, don't be those lame kids who question everything the teacher says, and don't be lazy. Just take notes, wrk hrd, and you'll get 90+ and above. She won't give you full marks unless you really deserve it. 4 ex, kanji needs to be perfect by the book 2 get full marks
she's very strict, and mean(dat's the word i can think about her). she would say sth about her stay in japan but no one shows interest at all. if u cant get a high grade in her class, you are not hardworking at all. u r just nothing but a lazy cow!(in her eyes) and you would waste her time if cant meet her high high standard!!!
Can't understand, Hard, She doesn't like anything, cranky, and OLD!
hard, weird and strict marker.don't like everyone and everything.
she's an ego-maniac
She is damn hard...If you enjoy suffering and want to be assulted mentally, just take her class! You will have FUN!!!
she is a strict marker
She is a little bit boring as a language teacher and has significant english accent, but overall speaking she is serious about her work. You have to be really responsible for yourself in order to get a good mark. But anyhow don't be scared by those nasty comments--it's just a language course! Not so hard if you do the homework and review.
I really wanted to learn Japanese and get better on it. However, right now, after took two classes with her, i lost my interest about Jap.She wants respect from students, but she doesn't have any respect to students. If Eng is ur 2nd lang, be aware cuz she's very strict with Eng grammar, although i'm not sure if her eng. grammar is correct.
MEAN,weird,old... i lost all my interest in japanese becuz of her!!
she's not bad. but she's not clear in the class, sometimes will get u confused...the quizzes r ok, but the midterms r very hard... especially for the final
Fare marker, clear, gets straight to the point, her homework assignments do help in the end if people do keep up with her assignments. She does expect you to know the vocabulary before the lesson though. She does correct people's English which (in my point of view) a GOOD THING, cause then she's not just teaching you Jap, she's helping with Eng.
Not exactly helpful when you ask her for help outside of class, but her lectures are straightforward. She lacks communication with students but the course itself with Leduc is well organized, with fair tests and quizzes. No surprises, her lectures and notes are what is on the test/quizzes. You'll do fine as long as you attend her class&keep up.
1) Attend class 2) Do the assigned work (focus on vocab, grammar points and your writing) 3) Treat her the way you want to be treated.
I took her class thinking w/e even if ppl say she's a bad teacher,I'd do fine since I have a background in japn.she told me to take her beg. class to review all the grammar.IT Was a JAP BEG!She's a hard marker, she expects pretty writing when she gives you uh hardly ne time on her stupid quizes that do add up to 15% of overall?DONT TAKE HER!
I think the rating for this prof is too high.Apparently some prof go on this site and put comments of their own to boost up their rating?Gonna keep this simple. Horrible teacher. Those who actually love the language don't take her, she'll make you hate the language."She teaches Eng and Jap 2 in one YEH!" BUT it's japn beg!?lets not get carried away?
picky, hard, and mean
I was really excited to take Japanese... LeDuc killed every ounce of excitement in me... She is picky and unapproachable. She ridicules people who ask questions in class. She has been teaching the course for 30 years and possibly hates her life. If you can get another professor, DO SO! I do not recommend her at all! If not... GOOD LUCK TO YOU!
SOOOOOO HARDDDDDDDDDDDD DONT TAKE HERRRR
Leduc doesn't repeat herself, or explain herself. ok so that sounded like the same thing, right? Wrong. Saying something in a way that others can understand is not the same thing as repeating what you just said. Leduc has a hard time remembering student she has and sometimes does not bother to try. Study a lot and use your text book. Good luck.
Actually, she is not as rude as u guys mentioned. She wasn't picky in midterms, cuz they were marked by her, the quizzes were marked by her assistant. I think the most effective way to study a language is keep practising. She taught me japanese as well as english(as she is very strict to grammer) I got an A in this class.
For everyone in 1115, It only goes down from there... If you rate her good you don't know what good is.
she plays with ur grade..dont take her seriously..most importantly she is not even japanese she doesn't know how to say things right..200% guarantee you if you take the class you are going to regret
Overall she is okay, really clear on how the tests are going to be like and how shes going to mark them. However, she is a very strict and hard marker and not so friendly.
This prof made me give up on learning Japanese at Langara entirely. I have to say her teaching ability is good but she is a very strict person and it made me feel very uncomfortable at times. She takes marks off for even the slightest of messy writing, She yells at you when you take out your phone just to look at the time, etc....
She is hard to get along with. My main problem was she kept telling me I was going to fail the course, 2 weeks in...
She may know her stuff, but that doesn't mean much when she is the crankiest woman alive, and is bent on making students feel bad about themselves. She talks down to students every class. She's out of touch with what it means to be a good teacher. Getting an A is no problem but seriously AVOID her class if you can. Wait for Takei or Hayashi.
okay...she marks pretty hard, she won't let you to get good marks...there are questions to let you transfer japanese into english on the test...she took marks off if you have some small grammar error in english...I am confused about what language course I am taking...
She honestly isn't so bad, she explains information clearly, and always, always tells us our homework/tests much in advance. She does focus on the writing a lot. At first, she does scare students about the workload, but honestly all of that just made me learn faster, and kept me on top of things.
Trust me, don't take her even if all the other Japanese classes are full. She is a nice lady and does try to get the class involved. But most of the time she is mean and beat you down.
Never again. She isn't helpful at all. If you can study on your own with very little instruction you'll do okay.
She reminds me of attitude of that of highschool teacher in Japan. Strict. You just follow. Try to make friends or group to support each other.
Avoid at all costs. Awful teacher, can't speak Japanese can't use a computer, rude, unhelpful, condescending, impossibly picky marker.
Honestly, she isn't that bad. Her attitude is a bit aggressive, but she isn't a mean teacher. As long as you study enough, you can survived in her class. Highly recommended you better take 1115 with other prof (like Hayashi), then you can get at least B overall in this class. I got a B+, which is higher than I expect in this class lol. Have fun~
just don't take her class if you know nothing abt japanese. she has accent speaking japanese. however her notes are pretty clear and numerous. we can spend half of the class just by flipping pages and pages to find a page she wants to teach.
She is strict, so what?! Japanese is almost as precise as science. She corrects English, so what?! It is the official language here and in order to attend Langara one needs to be able to communicate. Besides, if you don't even know the English grammar, how can you understand the structure of another language? The course is hard, but it is worth it!
IF you're a self learner, she's okay but I believe your other classes will require you to do homework too. She marks you wrong if you did not write perfectly, such as not writing the characters as the book. She's a very old fashion teacher and I respect that, but it's useless to argue with her if you think it you're right.
Never again will I take this course ever again.
Don't take her period. The slightest error in your hiragana and your point is gone. I've taken Japanese before but her marking is just brutal. Good luck next sem.
bad teacher, you have to spend a lot of time to remember vocabulary ,never take again
Horrible. deduct marks from every single character you don't write like printed textbook strokes. Went through the material fast and read from drill. Unfriendly and won't repeat herself. Picking minimal error to deduct marks if you don't have obvious ones. w/ or w/o background she makes it hard for you. Expects respect but no respect for students.
Been studying Japanese at Japanese schools for 7+ years. Transfered to Langara, took the placement test with her; she bluntly said my ability was terrible and I needed to take 1115. Ridiculous. Not the nicest/approachable person either. DO NOT EVER BY ALL MEANS take her class even if room is still available. Go for Hayashi! He's THE best :)
She is out of touch with connecting with students and teaching in general.
