Professor Harding is an amazing professor! I was dreading taking history because I hated it in high school but she made it awesome! I loved coming to her class! She's super sweet and easy to talk to if you have any problems! The test are short answer but she gives you what's on the test beforehand. TAKE HER
I don't know what other people are saying. She is not a very good teacher, and she does none of the grading. She just uses her TA for everything and her lectures are BORING. I HIGHLY suggest finding another professor because she is neither helpful nor easy.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is a very nice woman, but as far as teaching goes, she is BORING. I dread her lectures. Tests are easy, but she is a tough grader. Uses her TA to grade most assignments.. Mandatory attendance, 2 short papers, 1 long paper. I was great in history in HS, now I'm struggling to get a B
Professor Harding was my favorite teacher so far at JMU. She is so nice and helpful if you go to her office hours. She uses horrible history videos to make class more exciting and fun. She presents the information in lecture clear, and breaks it up to make it more interactive and exciting. She keeps my attention the whole time. TAKE HER
I hate history, A LOT. But after taking this class with Professor Harding, I love it! She is my favorite professor at JMU so far. She is so sweet and funny and she really cares about her student's success. Easy A/B class if you put effort in. Her lectures are entertaining because she cares! The textbook is used all the time and take good notes!
I do not recommend Professor Harding for this class. Her lectures are all over the place and a lot of the time she is just babbling about things. Yes she gives you study guides with things that will be on the tests but the amount of things on the study guide is ridiculous. Teaches like it is an upper level history, not 101.
Hated the class, went everyday though because she grades attendance. She isn't a bad professor, I just didn't agree with her grading a lot. Random reading quizzes, 3 papers, and 2-3 exams (1 is optional).
Professor Harding was so nice and helpful. There are 3 major writing assignments for class and I completely failed the first one. But I went to office hours and ended up with a perfect score on my last one. She is SO helpful if you go to her office hours and her class is so interesting. I legitimately enjoyed attending her class HIGHLY RECOMMEND
her class is very easy to follow - tests are straightforward from powerpoints/reading. I failed one paper, and I still managed an A-. She also shows funny videos in class, and it's a very easy-going environment. definitely easy for a general level history 101 course!
Professor Harding is wonderful! She's so nice and has a great sense of humor. Shows funny videos during class that try to make history fun. I hate history but I really enjoyed her as a professor. Her tests are killer though. All essays/short answer. She takes attendance and it boosted my grade at the end so go to class!
Professor Harding is the best! She tries to make class interesting and shows funny videos. I wish I could take her again for 102! She's very approachable. There are 2 exams and 2 papers. There are also reading quizzes, but it's not bad. TAKE HER!
I was worried this class was going to be hard but its not at all! She's a wonderful straight forward teacher. You have to attend class and there are multiple choice reading quizzes which are only 5% of your grade so I basically never read. You should definitely take her!!
Harding is a great teacher and she is all about discussion in class which always makes for an interesting lecture. She really wants you to understand the material so ask all the question you can. Only one presentation and paper and small weekly readings. I recommend staying up to date with vocab, will make preparing for final easier! Attendance
Professor Harding taught at BRCC where I took her for US History I. She is a kind and humorous professor. There are two exams, 2 papers and 4 quizzes, all fairly easy if you study. Her tests are based on lecture notes, and her lectures are not boring. She's great! I would definitely have her again.
I LOVED HARDING. She was super nice and she makes the class very east to succeed. As long as you do the weekly reading assignments (which are easy points) and participate in class you are honestly fine. You have 4 grades that will literally determine your grade in the class: Participation, 1 presentation, 1 paper and the final. TAKE HER
Professor Harding is an amazingly sweet woman who also knows a lot about her subject. The class is intriguing even if you have no interest in history. It's primarily taught through films and lectures, and there are weekly responses which are almost impossible not to get 1010 on. Love this class, and I would happily take it again!
Terrible readings every week that are graded on an unknown scale. Lectures are boring and powerpoints dont help. Presenting a movie sucks and watching other people present sucks more. Participation grade that comes out of nowhere so be sure to talk in class. Final is cumulative based on lectures, readings, pictures and terms. Hardest class I have.
She is a really good professor! She gave me A's on my group project and paper, so I'd say she's an easy grader. The final exam is a bit difficult though.
Loved her class, she makes jokes and always relates the topic. Huge emphasis on movies, and no homework, just a 3 paragraph reading response once a week. Be sure to prepare for your presentation or it will hurt your grade.
one of the nicest professors at JMU. absolutely love her. one assignment a week, one project and paper, and a final. class is interesting and she cares about all her students. take her!!!!!
Absolutely love this class and she's a wonderful professor. Work outside of class isn't much: weekly reading responses, 1 pair presentation with accompanying paper, and a final exam. Does grade attendance and participation. Very interested in the material and it's shown during her lectures. Would surely recommend!
Professor Harding is great! One of my favorite professors at JMU. She's so smart and really keeps you interested. Your grade is mainly just weekly readings/questions, a film presentation and paper, and the final. Shes an easy grader and makes it so easy to get an A. Not to mention the class is awesome in itself. Take her!
Professor Harding was one of my favorite teachers last semester! She's super laid back and really eager to help you succeed in her class. She also really made an effort to encourage discussions and sharing of student's ideas and experiences has part of the classroom experience. Keep up with the weekly terms and take good notes and you'll be fine!
I love Professor Harding! She really cares about her students. Class is so incredibly easy yet so interesting and invigorating. She'll know your name if you speak up in class. Great class, recommend!
Professor Harding is BY FAR one of my favorites!! I would take this class 100 times if I could. Lectures fly by. Weekly movie presentations on super interesting topics. Easy weekly readings and hw's and no midterm. Attendance and participation aren't mandatory but they are graded at the end. This woman was an angel when it came to help TAKE HER!!
The best professor I've had so far at JMU! She is so helpful and really wants her students to do their best. There are weekly reading assignments that take no time at all. There is one movie presentation but no midterm. Make sure to participate in class! Overall best professor ever!!
Professor Harding is by far the best professor I have had. She is so helpful and makes things SO interesting and easy. There are weekly assignments but they are very simple. There is one presentation on a film along with a paper but it is really easy and interesting and if you need help she is willing to give you feedback.
Although her lectures can be a bit boring, she definitely made me much more interested in History. We had quizzes due every sunday night but they were directly from the sources and we only had one paper to write that was on a fairly simple topic. Definitely would take her again
Harding is really funny and makes the class enjoyable. One big presentation along with a paper but other than that it's just weekly quizzes on readings. Do the work and you will get a good grade. Only test in her class is the final but there's a study guide you work on over the semester.
Only good things to say about Dr. Harding. Her lectures are interesting, the paper was relatively easy to complete, and she is a reasonable grader. Take this class if you need a solid gen-ed that won't have you up late at night doing tedious work.
Professor Harding is great and I would definitely recommend this class. The only assignments are short and easy weekly quizzes, one presentation about a movie with a partner, and an essay about the movie. Harding is super nice, funny, and usually the lectures are pretty interesting. She does take attendance, but the class is enjoyable. Loved it!
Lectures are interesting, usually takes attendance on Fridays. Midterm and final are hard, but you just have to really prepare for them. You have to talk at least once in discussion to get points, but it isn't hard. Really nice lady and she loves it when you go to her office for help with the primary source paper!
Great professor, easy class in general, classes aren't mandatory but attendance is 10% of your grade so you should go. 5% of grade is participation which does matter in discussion. Midterm and final aren't bad. DO EXTRA CREDIT
Professor Harding is great. No quizzes or tests, just one final, a paper, and 2 presentations. Very easy class if you put forth a little effort. Take the movie presentation seriously or else you will start off with a bad grade. Very helpful, very interesting, would take again in a heartbeat
Best Professor I've had so far at JMU! She's so sweet, hilarious, and actually cares about you. Take her!
Best Professor I've had so far at JMU! She's so sweet, hilarious, and actually cares about you. Take her- you won't regret it!
Professor Harding is wonderful! Her lectures are straight-forward, reading quizzes are easy if you pay attention to the book, and she is just a really great teacher. It was worth taking her class at an earlier time than I had hoped simply because her class is easy to do well in. She tries to make class as fun as possible.
The papers and in class essays are where majority of the points come from and where you'll most likely get screwed over. I worked so hard on the paper and essays following the rubric just as she says and never managed to get higher than a C no matter how hard I tried. She has unbelievably high standards for a GenEd class and it's hard to get an A
Harding is an extremely tough grader, no matter how good you think your writing might be. This class is not an "easy A" by any means. The only easy thing about it are the online quizzes. The rest of your grade is made up of 2 in class essays (40% and hard!), 2 out of class essays, and 3 fill-in-the-blank tests which can be easy if you study.
attendance and notes are really not that important. quizzes online based on reading so you can find the answers word for word in the book. Tests are all based on a list of 80ish terms that she gives you before the test. A couple papers and in class essay graded fairly harshly. Overall not a terrible class but not a great class if you dont like hist
Attendance is not important. HER ESSAYS & CRITICAL ANALYSIS PAPERS ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. I received a F on both of my critical analysis papers... so I might as well have done them after working on them for at least 7 hours. Quizzes are so easy. People ask her questions in class and she has no idea the answers majority of time. gives extra credit
VERY hard class for a gen ed!!! expect to have to work and study super hard if you even want to come out with a B. also, class is not mandatory but i would not recommend skipping unless you can get the notes from someone because you will miss A LOT of very important information. and don't expect good feedback during office hours.
She grades papers way too harshly for a history gened so if you're not a *great* writer it won't be an easy A. And quite honestly her feedback on the papers is terrible. Her TA at times seemed to know more and answer questions more clearly than she would. Would not take her again or recommend her.
Professor Harding made lectures very interesting, I would actually look forward to going to class! There is one five page paper which was not too difficult at all. Weekly online quizzes, but are easy if you have a textbook. Provides a study guide to help prepare for exams. Would definitely recommend taking her.
Only 3 fill in the blank tests, 2 in class essays, and one 5 paged paper. A couple easy quizzes based on readings. Very easy class, and even though it was an 8am I loved going to it. She made everything interesting and is super nice. It's a super easy class if you actually study her key terms. Loved her, and loved the class.
Love love love Professor Harding! The only things I really didn't like about this class were a) that it was at 8 AM and b) the Oxford FirstSource online thing. Other than that, this class was both easy and engaging. Professor Harding is sweet, knowledgeable, and puts a lot into her lectures and making sure the topics aren't boring or overly dense.
I love Harding. She's an amazing professor who knows what she's talking about, and she understands that not everyone understands/likes history. Highly recommend taking her whether it's for GenEd or if your a history major!
It's stressful and a ton of work at times, but I've learned a lot of stuff about history which is pretty cool. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't it but if you study hard you can do well. I got an A in her 102 class but that came with a lot of time and effort. Even though it's taxing, I still recommend her! She's super nice too
I love professor Harding! Her lectures are good so if you take notes you don't have to read the textbook all the time. Quizzes are not bad because she gives a study guide. She also gives a study guide for the exams which i found very helpful. She has a great sense of humor and her love of history shows in class. Would definitely recommend!
4 quizzes, 1 paper, midterm and final. quizzes are easy A's, paper is graded harshly but overall made the class very interesting. not your typical boring history class. lecture attendance not taken but make sure to go to discussion and talk a lot because it is easy points and she is very nice
Professor Harding is the best professor ever! She makes history interesting and her lectures are super informative without being boring. I never once dreaded going to class. As long you study and read the chapters assigned, getting a good grade won't be hard. She's always willing to help and her class is definitely worth the work.
Not a history class fanatic, but Professor Harding made it bearable. Lectures are engaging and she's pretty funny. Fair amount of assignments, and shes only tough on grading the essays (2 in class and one 5 pg). Not the most approachable person, but she is a solid prof for 101; workload isn't too bad either.
She is honestly the best teacher that I have had at JMU. Loves teaching and she literally gives you all the definitions you need for the midterm and final. Overall great class, I plan on taking her again!
As an IDLS major, I've taken every single gened history class. Prof Harding is the best history professor I've had. 101 was a little dry but 102 was pretty interesting. That might just be my personal preferences, though. Overall, she's a solid professor. Reading quizzes, midterm, final, 3 essays. It's not an easy A necessarily, but its attainable.
Prof Harding was a pretty good teacher. I had 101, and the material was very interesting to me. Her class was not that difficult at all, as the tests were in matching format. I would highly recommend taking this class as a gen ed, was very interesting and not difficult at all.
Professor Harding is by far my favorite professor I've had at JMU. Her lectures are really interesting and have all the information you need to write the midterm and final essays. Essays are challenging but if you just follow the study guide closely you will get an A. I've had her twice now and it made me declare a history minor, take her!!
Professor Harding is one of the best professors I've had here at JMU. She understands that she's teaching a Gen-Ed and many of us are just in class to get the credit, but she really does make history interesting enough for even those who "hate history" to get through it. If you need help she's always quick to respond to email and genuinely cares.
Harding was the best! If you have the chance take her! She is so sweet and makes lectures interesting! Easy A if you show up to lecture and do the work. Did not even open the textbook once. She gives an extra credit opportunity up to one point and will give you two extra points on your 6 page essay if you go to the writing center to get it checked.
Literally one of my favorite professors here! Her lectures are amazing and she tries really hard to make history relatable as well as interesting to students. Her tests are also really easy if you show up to class; it's essentially fill in the blanks. No curve, but she does give lots of opportunities for extra credit. She is also very accessible!
I loved this professor she had interesting lectures and her test were really easy if you study. Her quizzes were harder than her tests. She gives you study guides for quizzes and test which is really helpful so do them.
Overall she is an amazing teacher who makes class fun! she makes us laugh a lot and knows how to be funny. She grades tough on quizzes and tests. She gives out extra credit but you can only do it once in the semester so I would take advantage of that. Lectures are amazing and she lets you know ahead of time what her quizzes and tests are about
You do not have to show up to pass. The quizzes are easy if you read what is assigned and the tests are all key terms and an essay. She is very sweet.
Professor Harding is big on lecture, but everything she says is useful for the in-class essays. She also takes time to explain every detail about her tests and quizzes (which are either multiple choice or matching). She is really funny, and can make an entertaining class out of ancient history. Overall a real gem.
Prof Harding is a kind lady and great lecturer. With that in mind, Exams were super easy but the 2 in-class essay exams were not fun. She graded the essay's super hard. Make sure to prepare well in advance for the in-class papers. Bombed the first but did so well on the 2nd that she bumped up my grade on the first by a few points. Take her!
Lecture notes, Lecture notes, Lecture notes! Her exams are all based on her Powerpoints and in class lectures, which she does not post. Therefore, going to class is essential if you want to do well. She is very easy to listen to and has a real knowledge of the subject matter. Also discussion is not hard- just participate. Would take again!
Class is pretty easy in general. You have a midterm and a final (multiple choice with 2 short essays), reading quizzes every other week that are pretty easy, and a history film review paper. She doesn't take attendance so it's not mandatory but her tests are straight from the lectures and she doesn't post the slides.
Harding doesn't make attendance mandatory but the midterm and final are all from lecture. Make sure you talk in discussion to get points. You present as a group in discussion too which isn't hard. Her lectures are interesting and she cares about you. If you take notes the mid term is super easy! 1 five page paper and one short paper. I recommend!!
This was definitely my favorite class this semester! It is very lecture heavy and missing class means missing a LOT of notes. However, Harding's passion for the subject makes the lectures interesting and memorable. You will have readings and online quizzes, a film review paper, and a midterm + final. I highly recommend taking her if you can!!
quizzes are only on the readings, which are a lot for usually 20 questions; a midterm and a final that are solely lecture based; take good notes or you won't know what to study for tests; one paper that was worth a lot of the final grade; extra credit can only be earned once.
There are reading quizzes every few weeks that are open note. The only tests are the midterm and final, which weigh a lot, so make sure to do well. She doesnt post the powerpoints online, so be sure to make it to class or make friends in the class who can send you notes. The class was average difficulty, and she offers extra credit opportunities.
Professor Harding is amazing! Her class isn't difficult as long as you attend class (the midterm/final is completely based off her lectures). Her lectures are engaging and interesting. You have one essay to write in addition to the midterm/final/ reading quizzes. Amazing professor who cares about her students.
Shes awesome! Makes class entertaining and makes history actually semi interesting. very impressed, highly recomend
So far she is my favorite lecturer at JMU, she's passionate about the subject and keeps it interesting (plus shes funny!). This class is easy, I skipped a lot and got an A. Just study the material and put some effort in and you'll be fine. I Didn't buy the textbook and never really needed it!
Prof. Harding is one of my fav professors at JMU. She seriously made me consider changing my major to history. I would consider taking another one of her classes just because she is that good. She doesn't take attendance, but she doesn't post powerpoints so you need notes. You're graded by an essay, midterm, final, and online quizzes.
I thought her class was fairly easy. You have a midterm, final, 2 papers and quizzes that make up your class grade and then you have your discussion group grade. The only thing is you have to go to class and take good notes otherwise you won't know whats going on. She uses questions straight from things she says in lecture.
Harding is absolutely amazing, her lectures are great and the exams come straight from the lectures so you won't find anything you haven't seen before if you attended her class. This class in general and its discussions are pretty straightforward as long as you attend her lectures. Great class fully recommend it.
Prof Harding was a good professor. Her lectures are long and pretty dry. Her quizzes are tough because she doesn't give enough time to take them. Her weekly discussion boards helped me retain the information. Overall not a bad class.
Professor Harding truly cares about history and you can tell through her lectures. You definitely have to take good notes to get a good grade but all her quizzes and tests are straightforward. DEFF WOULD RECCOMMEND
Prof. Harding's lectures are exceptional and made history interesting for me, someone who doesn't usually enjoy history classes. Through the discussion sections, US history was presented in an interesting and challenging way. Didn't really need to read the textbook. Quiz every week, and the only exams are the midterm and the final.
Absolutely loved Professor Harding!! I am not a history person but she made the class very interesting and engaging. The class is 4 credits so there's a decent amount of work, but nothing super challenging! A big part of discussion is leading it one week with a group. Harding is very sweet and willing to help you.
She provides study guides for all tests and quizzes and she is super helpful! There is also lots of extra credit opportunities.
Prof Harding is amazing, take her if you have the chance! There is 1 paper, 3 tests (final included, not cumulative) tests are easy As if you go to class, lecture heavy, not necessary to read the textbook, she gives study guides, is easy to reach, and gives good feedback, provides extra credit opportunities.
Professor Harding made ancient history bearable. The class is all lectures, but she makes the information interesting and fun. She's very straightforward about her tests and quizzes so they aren't hard. Make sure to take notes because the slides aren't on canvas.
Professor Harding is great! Expect quizzes every couple weeks, a paper, and a final that make up your grade. There's no homework and attendance isn't necessary but the quizzes and final are entirely lecture based with no posted slideshows so if you don't go to class it'll be rough. Apparently there's a book to buy but I never did and I was fine
If you're looking for an easy gen ed, take HIST102 with Harding! You do have to go to the lectures since slides aren't posted (make a friend in class who will send you notes). Exams and quizzes were pretty easy. She gives extra credit for visiting museums/going to campus events and you get extra points on the paper for going to the writing center!
Lectures are interesting, notes aren't posted, attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll miss notes. Harsh grader for essays (essay part on exam and 1 major essay). She offers little pts extra credit. 5 quizzes, 2 exams MC. Just get the trial for the textbook quizzes. She used to be a high school teacher, so she emails a lot.
I absolutely loved professor Harding. I am not a huge history person but she made it super interesting and she was very funny. I took HIST 225, a 4 credit class, so you did need to attend discussion if u wanted a good grade. She was super easy to contact and always positive. She actually made me want to go to her class. Overall amazing professor.
If you get the chance to take her class, you should!! She is my favorite professor at JMU. She makes history so interesting and fun and when you go to class and take notes, the tests and quizzes are not difficult. I always looked forward to her class
Prof. Harding has been one of the best professors I've had at JMU so far. She's hilarious and her lectures are genuinely entertaining with her use of some youtube videos, memes, and just jokes all around. You HAVE to attend and participate in the weekly discussion to get above an A/B, but as long as you do the reading, you'll do great!!
Prof Harding was awesome! I am not a history person but she made me want to come to class. Amazing lectures, 1 assignment weekly for discussion, 1 paper, midterm, and final. The way she teaches makes it easy to learn. If you go to lectures and participate in discussion, you will finish with a good grade. She is a must take if you have the chance!
Super great lectures, makes history fun to learn and easy to understand. 4 quizzes and a midterm and final all of which she gives study guides for. She does not post the slides so if you skip class you will miss all the material. Exams and quizzes are not too hard as long as you pay attention and study. overall great professor for history.
Professor Harding is super chill. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you don't go to class you will miss all the material because she doesn't post her lecture slides on Canvas. She posts a very clear study guide for every quiz/test, so if you study and pay attention, this will be an easy A. She tries her best to make lectures interesting.
Professor Harding is the best lecturer I have ever witnessed. That being said, the midterm and final were insane for a GenEd history class. The exams are so content heavy, the midterm study guide had 85 terms and 5 essay questions and the final is similar. Our grades are a few quizzes, exams, and one paper.
did things that made it hard for students to do really well for a gen ed course.
Harding is very knowledgeable and want her students to succeed. Her class is not very difficult as long as you pay attention during lecture. Her grade book is made up of 1 paper, a couple of quizzes, midterm, and a final. The midterm and final are not too difficult and the paper is fairly graded. She made history interesting, definitely take her.
Harding is an amazing lecturer and makes learning ancient history super interesting and fun. Class is based on a couple of tests, quizzes and one research essay with clear grading criteria. Take this class if you can!
She doesn't post her slides. Rude asf.
Harding class is the only class where I feel like I learned something. There is only mandatory attendance in discussion but you need to go to lecture to understand anything. Her lectures are fun and easily organized which makes it easier to study for 2 tests she gives. Most of the grades are homework quizzes and 1 big essay and one smaller one.
I think Professor Harding is knowledgable and wants her students to succeed, but I honestly found this class a little more challenging than I thought. You definitely need to attend lectures to know what's going on, because she doesn't post any of her slides. Put the studying in for the exams and you will be fine, just don't take her for an easy A.
She is amazing! Her lectures were so interesting and every class felt so quick because I was so invested. She makes history so easy to understand. There's 2 papers, weekly reading quizzes, a midterm and a final which were not too difficult imo. Lecture attendance not mandatory but the discussion class once a week was. Highly recommend
Don't take this class for ez gened or gpa booster. Tests always super heavy with essays and 30 multiple choice. She will give you 6 essays and some minor essays in that so you need to prepare all of them because she will randomly pick 2.
She is an absolutely AMAZING professor!!! I would highly recommend her class. As long as you take notes and attend discussion, you will be fine.
I LOVED Professor Harding. She made learning history easier. You MUST go to class to pass with a good grade. Her exams are very difficult if you do not go to class. The class is too much work for a GenEd. You have to do weekly homework, 2 papers, a presentation, and multiple quizzes. They are graded harshly too. Take an easier Gened if possible.
Amazing and hilarious history professor! You'll have one paper and three exams throughout the semester, which are fairly easy. She gives weekly reading quizzes, which are not too hard, but can involve a lot of reading. I'd recommend taking her especially if history is not your thing because she will make it interesting (coming from a history major)
Professor Harding is a very nice person, but if you are looking for an easy gen-ed, this is not the class. Midterm and final are worth 40% of total grade and are based on notes taken in lecture that she doesn't post online, so you must go to class to do good on these. Weekly quizzes that aren't hard but don't account for much of your grade.
I really do not like you. You are not accommodating nor caring, and treat students poorly. If your goal was to diminish any motivation I had for this class, you did an amazing job! I really think you should reconsider your methods and try to become more understanding. I have never left a ratemyprofessor before but I just created an account. 0/10
Very rude and not accommodating.
Awesome and caring teacher. Any 225 is going to be tough, and she was a great teacher, and I learned a lot. All test substance is through her talking in class, so take good notes and make friends. Only tests are mid term and final, and essay prompt at end of each. Weekly online quizzes, straight from readings. Discussion sucks, get it done asap.
She's a very nice women but in the beginning of the year she said that attendance wasn't mandatory but then switched up and now you must be in class and submit attendance randomly. Also her tests are not too hard but over exaggerated with the steps before to the test to avoid cheaters. Its a gen-ed course you really don't need to be so rough.
I thought she would be good, but she tried to cut our final exam time in half. She also changed the attendance policy 2/3 through the semester and tries to go out of her way to make the material on tests and midterms harder than it needs to be. At the end of the day it's just a gen ed but she takes it too serious, it's just history.
This class overall was pretty easy. She didn't take attendance but doesn't post the slides. Weekly reading quizzes and a total of 3 exams. She gives key terms to know to help study for the tests and test questions are really straight forward
This is my second class with her and I love her! I'm not a history person but she makes it so engaging. Three exams and a paper are the bulk of the grade, but with random attendance checks and weekly reading quizzes to help boost your grade. She may seem tough but if you go to class and know the key terms she gives you, you will be fine.
Jeannie Harding made a GenEd interesting! Attendance isn't mandatory, but you'll be confused if you miss a lecture. You write a paper, but it isn't long and is posted way before the due date. Her lectures are interesting and engaging. 10/10 would take another one of her courses!
Four credits, so there's a discussion every week with mandatory attendance. You can skip lectures, but I advise against it. Amazing teacher and likes to get the class involved. tests are all in person, and you have to study, but it's a good choice for gen ed. Harding is a great teacher - had a WEIRD TA
I love her as a person, and she made class super enjoyable! However, her TA is a super rough grader and has no mercy for not being experienced in writing. So, if you're a bad writer, I wouldn't take this class. It will significantly hurt your grade. On her midterm/final you have to write around a 500-word essay NO NOTES plus 30 questions in 50 mins
Professor Harding's HIST225 is challenging but rewarding. Attend class, take good notes, and use resources like Unstuck AI alongside the textbook for solid prep. Not an easy A, but you'll learn a lot.
Ms. Harding is a captivating lecturer who makes American history genuinely interesting. Her class is never boring. The two exams are tough—you'll need to study hard. Weekly discussions with a grad assistant are fun, and everyone leads class once. Not an easy A, but worth it if you care about learning.
Professor Harding is an amazing professor and super sweet. However, this is NOT an easy gen ed and will tank your GPA. The test are extremely hard so you have to prepare at least a week in advanced.
Harding is a funny and caring professor. Her lectures are genuinely interesting and compelling. Slides aren't posted, and what you are expected to learn is often said aloud rather than written on the slides she does use with lectures. Weekly discussions, mandatory attendance, and you will have to lead discussion one week with a partner.
The most ridiculous proffessor ever Assigns way to much for a gen ed after leading discussion (which is mandatory) you have a week to write a 1500-2000 word essay based on 2 sources This class was more work than ANY of my major classes. Idk who she thinks she is brings politics into class and is historically inaccurate. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU WANT AN A
I am NOT a history person, however she was super engaging in lectures, and I actually enjoyed learning History for the first time. Assignments are easy, and its a good introduction to college level courses/papers etc.
Ms.Harding is a very nice history professor. She is very caring and dedicated to her craft. Her slides are easy to follow in lecture, and she provides plenty of tools for discussion. Homework is broken down by the weeks with specific guidelines and easy access to the materials. Great help in office hours! History is not my thing, but she was great!
Brandon Carter was my TA, great guy. Have to attend mandatory discussion groups once a week for 50 mins, at one point you present a project in a group, pretty easy if its a good class.
very up tight for a gen-ed, writing the essay was way too hard
Probably one of my least favorite professors. Doesn't to understand when someone is struggling and has no bed side manor. Takes a gen ed way to serious when no one in the class is a history major. Basically your whole grade for this class is attendance and tests. If you miss more then 2 classes your in trouble. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
I highly recommend taking Professor Harding for Hist 225. Only two tests, a midterm and a final exam. Lectures twice a week with graded attendance, plus a weekly discussion where your group will lead once. Reading quizzes each week that are due before discussions. If you attend the lectures and participate in discussions, you'll do well.
Prof Harding was great. her lectures are interesting, attendance is mandatory and exams are easy if u go to class. discussion with a TA was easy as long as you show up. there are two papers, one small one and one big one but she gives you multiple chances to earn extra credit on them. overall great class, take her if you can.
Really nice and sometimes class is interesting. A very demanding Ged ed and there are only a few tests. Lots of papers and discussion every week. There are other classes that are easier.
A really passionate professor, she is so sweet and engaging, and she actually made history interesting for me. Tests are hard and can significantly impact your grade if you perform poorly, but if you study and put in the time, you'll be fine. Her lectures are so good, so I recommend showing up and paying attention.
Her class is mostly just lectures so if you pay attention to and take notes, you'll have no issue getting a good grade. The tests are fairly easy, just MCQ with one essay question and she grades very fairly. I enjoyed her class, though if you're not interested in history it would be easy to zone out
A reasonable teacher as long as you put in effort.
