The class provides you a lot of opportunity to slack- you only have to complete about 75% of all the online hw. If you keep up with the assignments and quizzes, then this is an easy A. The questions on the test are straight forward and you are able to earn lots of extra credit. Plus Loeb is a engaging teacher. One of my best classes at UNC.

Professor Loeb is hilarious! She rarely checks attendance, but you won't want to miss class anyway. The homework is pretty easy even though there's a lot of it. She gives extra credit, and her tests are not as hard as she makes them seem. I would definitely recommend this professor!

I rarely attended. If you answer a question in class you get some bonus points to final grade. Also gave 10% exam bonus (exams count as 90% of grade). A lot of people find the class hard, I think it depends what you are used to. Taking mostly sciences I didn't think it was that hard to make a good grade. Read the book, and study before tests.

Did absolutely nothing for her class, got high 70s on her exam, then decided to actually study for her the final exam, got a 98 without the 10% bonus and got an A in the class.....

Loeb is the best... easiest class every and she gives lots of bonus for coming to class and doing surveys. Tests are a little challenging sometimes, but it is really easy to do well (and she drops 1). The assignments are weekly, but only 6 need to be completed. Plus, at least 10 point bonus added to final. Definitely recommend!

The material was difficult for me (a non science major), but she's encouraging, offers help and extra credit whenever she can and loves when you come to office hours. For bio psych, Loeb only gives multiple choice questions. Her test are easy, but cover a lot of material, so expect to study days in advance. She is beyond hilarious in her lectures. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she does give extra credit if you participate in class.

Prof. Loeb is awesome. She's really funny and can keep an audience of 400+ teenagers fairly engaged early in the morning. She drops a test grade, which is lifesaving. Criteria for the course grading is very clear and objective; an A is easily attainable if you put in the work.

I have taken a neuroscience class before Dr. Loeb's biopsyc and an anatomy & phys class after and I found Dr. Loeb's class to be in-depth and spot on. There is a LOT of detail in this course--and it helped me to ace portions of the anatomy & phys class.

I really like the way she sets up her 101 lecture. It's a great way for first years to get adjusted to college (I'm saying this after I took the course as a sophomore). Attending class will definitely help your grade. There's a lot of extra credit. Try and do it in the beginning of the semester. The tests are all multiple choice.

The course material is difficult so be sure to actually read the textbook (just going off lecture material isn't enough) and utilize the ability to go over exams--some of the questions on the final are straight from old exams.

She doesn't try to trick you with questions, just tests to see if you've learned the information and can reasonably apply it. She offers .3 points of extra credit per day (I have +5 points) that tack onto exam grades

Great lecturer, never felt like I was going to doze off in class. The material is tough and her tests have quite a few gross oversimplifications if you know the material in depth. But the material is fun, REVIEW YOUR EXAMS + QUIZZES! It's so dumb not to and some q's are on final. Look out for examples she repeats, those are usually exam questions.

Dr. Loeb is absolutely phenomenal and this class has EXTREMELY interesting material! I thoroughly enjoyed this class; you had to do 6/11 papers, and 10/12 quizzes, with 3 midterms and a final. Granted, the tests are difficult, but the material is so interesting. She is a spunky woman who is unapologetically herself. I would love to have her again!

She is a great lecturer, she is meant to be in front of a group. I took the class Monday Wednesday with the Friday section being online work. It was not bad at all, I recommend it. Just get your work in on time and study for the tests, she gives great study guides. If you do your work it should not be bad at all.

Kept a solid grade of 105% all semester.

Loeb offers extra credit each class for answering questions during the lecture. As long as you have her class outline pulled up, you will be able to find the answers. However, I never even answered the extra credit and got the A, so this should be a low stress class to take.

Death & Dying was cool, with three profs (ENG, ANTH, PSYCH). You can drop over half the quizzes and the midterm only counts 20% . I found one of the assignment instructions to be a bit vague but ok overall. You get credit for participating in class.

I actually like this class! It was taught by Chua,Loeb,&Larson. Though the lectures were very engaging, it's important to take notes in class and in your readings (incentivized through Sakai quizzes and in-class assign.). If you do not do your readings, you'll have a hard time on the exams. There were three major assign. throughout the semester.

If you screw up she gives you a chance to redeem yourself through EC opportunities, and she drops an exam. Best Prof for Psyc 101! Hands out bonus credit like candy, reasonable amount of homework and quizzes but they are helpful for the exams. Exams require a solid knowledge of the material but nothing too hard. She is an amazing PSYCH 101 teacher and I would highly recommend this course to any incoming freshman who doesn't really know what they want to do with their life yet. It's a low-stress class and an easy A as long as you keep up with the textbook readings. Lectures are funny and super interesting and you can tell she really cares about her students

Dr. Loeb is a wonderful professor who truly cares about her students. She gives ample opportunity for extra credit and her assignments are geared towards providing students a deeper understanding and engagement with the material. The outlines she provides helps with note taking and test prep. I would recommend this class to my friends.

PSYC 101 is reading-heavy if you want to do well, but other than that, the class is very simple. Go to lecture, pay attention, do the readings, and you'll do well.

She's very nice and funny. There's weekly quizzes as well as the choice to do one asynchronous assignment a week or one zoom a week and you do the assignment with a group. It's pretty straightforward. The midterm and final exam make up a huge part of your grade though, so just do well on those and you should be fine.

There are many extra credit opportunities, but make sure you keep up with the readings. As the midterm and final are 40% of your grade, keeping up with the material is key for success in this class.

OMG! Loeb is AMAZING. I did not expect this class to have so much reading and content, but Loeb offers recorded slides to help you understand. Wonderful lectures and teaching style. Lots of extra credit, 0.05% each, but you don't need them to get an A. Make sure you understand each concept. Study hard before the exams. Trust me, take 101 with Loeb!

The online format of this class was a bit confusing and it was difficult to grasp all of the material but overall, I recommend taking a class with her.

I did well all semester except the two exams were difficult and brought my high A to a B+ becuase it was 40 percent of my grade. i studied hard but the multiple choice were difficult with not a lot of time

Take Loeb for sure. Two exams-midterm and final. Final is non-cumulative. Lectures get weird sometimes (she's a weird gal) but it's funny. Material is stupid easy, show up to class, do required assignments, fill out the study guides, and you'll get an A. Barely put in work for this other than taking notes and I'm pretty sure I'm getting an A.

Loeb gives very entertaining lectures with plenty of stories (so no falling asleep), but material we are tested on is much more in depth than what is covered during class. Lots of easy homework/participation grades, but the exams are extremely difficult.

Take Dr. Loeb if you get a chance!! She is hilarious and provides personal stories to help you remember content easier. Exams were open-note but make sure you know the content as the questions and time limit make it challenging. A ton of extra credit was offered by logging onto Zoom, participating in class, and posting quiz questions.

Professor Loeb is really nice! Honestly, just be prepared to take matters into your own hands with this course. PSYC101 is very textbook-based and all Loeb does is repeat what's in the book with a little added information that isn't really relevant for big tests. Nonetheless, I enjoyed this course!

If you have to take Psyc 101, then take it with her. The class itself is not particularly interesting and mostly common knowledge but it is what it is. She has a ton of small assignments but everything you need for the class is given in the textbook or her very helpful pre-made notes. Everything is open book so don't memorize even if she says to.

One of the easiest classes I've taken at UNC - decent amount of work but its interesting and the tests come almost straight from the outlines, can't believe people complain that they're hard. Loeb is really funny and a very engaging lecturer, I actually learned a ton and really enjoyed her HILARIOUS anecdotes. A must take!

Dr. Loeb is a GEM. She is so hilarious and told lots of jokes during lecture. The grade is determined by lots of small homework and quizzes, and she gave us tones of extra credit for attending lecture or answering a question. Cant imagine people complaining that it is hard. Just take Psyc101 with her!

If you work hard in class you can get a good grade. This isn't an easy A, but there are tons of extra credit and it's definitely possible if you study. Tests can't be looked up so don't even try. There is a midterm and final for 38% of the final grade. The other % is Hw, Quizzes, Etc which you can get a 100% on easily. Remember the vocab as well.

Great lecturer! Not an easy a but it's possible. Most of the course grade comes from quizzes and homework assignments. Don't be fooled by everything being open note. Not a lot of time is given for quizzes and midterm/final so study before, since answers can't be found online and there isn't enough time to look everything up.

Overall this class was decently easy if you've taken Psychology in high school before. There is a lot of busywork overall, but the best way to understand the material is by attending lectures. I would definitely use outside resources such as the textbook and previous quizlets to help you study!

At first I was not the biggest fan of Psyc 101 because the exams were WAY harder than I anticipated especially since everything else in the class is so easy. Dr. Loeb can be a little condescending at times but she is super funny and upbeat. She gives so much extra credit and grade forgiveness which helps a lot. I would take Psyc 101 with her!

Wow, she corrected a syllabus error about the exam like 12 weeks ago - and gave 15% bonus credit for it, and gives exam review guides for every exam. Topics are interesting and the class is well structured (you get credit for coming to class)!

Actually, the bonus credit was 20%. No wonder the exam avg was an A. Questions seem to come almost directly from the posted outlines.

Favorite professor so far at UNC. Lectures are witty, entertaining, and easy to follow. She is very well spoken and makes psychology fascinating. The workload consists of one-two textbook readings a week, which are 30 pages and come with an easy quiz. Exams are considered to be tough, but your reading notes help and she gives exam extra credit!

Lots of extra credit opportunities. Loeb is a great lecturer and the class is super interesting. We have quizzes which are easy, exams aren't difficult but do require a lot of studying/memorization. Reading the textbook is important. Attendance isn't technically mandatory but there are in class assignments you can only complete if you go.

Prof. Loeb is genuinely one of the best teachers I've ever had. Even in a 200-300 person lecture hall it was so easy to learn from her. She makes content relatable and always cracks jokes. There is so many opportunities for EC and as long as you stay on pace with textbook readings and listen to lectures, it's a super easy course, def. recommend!

Attending class is mandatory, as she says things during class that do not appear in the readings. I'm not a science person and thought this class was difficult because of the amount of science-based terminology in the first half of the class, but not impossible. Would highly encourage to read the lectures and start studying several days in advance.

Dr. Loeb is very nice and generous with grades. Her funny anecdotes seem initially engaging, but eventually became corny and irrelevant. Exams weren't a great indicator of core content mastery, more regurgitation of niche class examples. Class is run by TAs, which can lead to confusion. Overall, a decent experience with a few hiccups along the way.

Interesting lecturer who clearly likes what she speaks on, however, lectures are rarely tested on and instead the main focus of the class was on the readings. Study guide for midterm wasn't helpful as the readings were basically the only thing on the test. Very engaged with students who want to learn more about Psych or Neuroscience

This class is not as easy as everyone says. BUT, if you put in the work, your grade will reflect it. If you pay attention to lectures and take good notes, you're set. Answering the questions she asks publicly for the 0.03 extra credit is not worth it. It won't do anything for your grade. I answered everyday and it did nothing to my grade.

Lectures were engaging and funny. Read and go to class. Exams are easy. Drop policy for attendance (top 80%), quizzes (top 7/11), and exams (top 2/3 midterms). Dr. Loeb and the IAs are not very accommodating outside of that. She needs to factcheck a bit; once claimed that Roman vomitoriums were where people would throw up. That's just not true.

I had Dr. Loeb for my Triple I (death and dying) and her lectures were very captivating and interesting! Her portion of the class is relatively easy, so long as you keep up with the readings and study before exams.

Dr. Loeb was a great lecturer and had very interesting content that was easy to engage with. I don't think I would take a class with her again because she didn't interest me enough to want to go into psych or neuro, but she was a good enough professor especially for such a large class.

One issue I didn't really like, tests are not based off of the lectures, they're based off the textbook chapters, which isn't terrible, but I'd prefer to cover test material in class. Dr. Loeb was one of my favorite professors of my first semester at UNC. Her methods of teaching were captivating, inspiring, and comical. She used incredible aspects of pedagogy (which is one of her research interests) such as incentive-based learning, videos, interactive activities, etc. Dr. Loeb is also incredibly personable.

Alright heres the deal, she gives funny lectures but by the end of the semester you will just not want to come to class. If you spend enough time reading the textbook and taking notes you will be fine. Lectures really don't cover what is on the tests but the chapter outlines are helpful. 1/3 midterms gets dropped which is also nice.

This class can be hard, but she gives so many freebies: extra credit for participating, drops lowest quiz/exam grades, etc. It can be really hard to make a lecture interesting, but she is hilarious and does a good job. You have to pay attention to everything she says: even a personal story can make their way into a test. Never used the textbook.

Hilarious teacher. However, her exams are DIFFICULT. Thankfully she drops your lowest exam score. I would pay full attention in class, study healthily for 15+ hours, and I would barely scrape a B- on exams. Median grades on exams were ~67% sometimes, with only 5% curves. Thankfully exams are just 55% of your grade. It was, however, quite stressful.

Dr. Loeb is definitely a character, so if you don't like inappropriate humor, take another professor. First exam was the hardest, but you can drop 1 of 3 exams, so it was no big deal. The final is non-cumulative. Also, do the readings, because the reading quizzes are hard and timed (I suggest typing notes so you can Ctrl > F).

Dr. Loeb is an amazing professor. She knows the class is long but makes the lectures hilarious. This is a class where you have to read the textbook to get good grades on the tests. She does offer a little extra credit but it's not enough to make up bad test grades.

Psyc 101 is a weed out class, but I thought Dr. Loeb taught it incredibly well. If you apply yourself, pay attention and show up for lectures, and DO THE STUDY GUIDES the tests don't have to be that difficult. She also drops your lowest test grade and 5 lowest quiz grades (there are a bunch, but they are all async) overall was a great class!

Attendance is 30% of your grade and you can miss multiple classes and still get full credit. Readings are time consuming but not boring or complicated. I never got an A on an exam (midterm or final) and still ended with an A.

If you haven't taken AP Psychology you will be reading A LOT. You are accountable for nearly every page of the textbook, and the tests are nitty gritty. PSYC 101 my hardest class this Sem (more work than CHEM 101 and BIOL 101). Loeb lectures well and there are systems in the class to help you succeed. Overall the class is fair + I learned so much!

I changed this course to pass/fail so it wouldn't go into my gpa, so I didn't really try and still ended with a B. I think if you put in some effort you can definitely get an A in this class and Loeb is so funny and gives some of the best lectures I've had.

You definitely have to take notes from the textbook and lectures in order to study for exams, but the content is interesting and she is very engaging and humorous. I would say the first exam is the hardest, so don't let it scare you too much because you can drop one exam. It is an easy A if you study.

I LOVED Dr. Loeb, and the class is doable. Participation is a lot of your grade and exams are not worth a lot, so its really easy to get an A. One exam gets dropped and she ended up giving us a lot of points back on another. I missed so many classes, never read, and needed a 41% on the final for an A. She is super engaging and funny in lectures too

She is so engaging! I loved going to her class. It was easy to learn and really fun. She gives a lot of extra credit and wants to make sure everyone succeeds. I haven't met anyone that doesn't love her.

Very funny and engaging lecturer! Gave a lot of extra credit opportunities and ways to pad your grade. Exams are relatively straightforward, but it is important that you read the textbook chapters/take good notes.

Great and funny professor. Gives out extra credit like it's nothing! However, do not let this class fall beneath your other ones, as anything in the readings could pop up on the unexpectedly difficult exams. But once you know how difficult they are, you are fine.

She is a great professor but her test are not super fun. Her exams are the definition of "psych professor made" she really does her very best to trick you in the exams. Over all tho she was really funny and engaging and her class is set up for you to succeed! Her Tas' were really nice as well and very helpful though!

If you have to take psyc 101 take it with Dr. Loeb. She is a extremely engaging and funny lecturer. The course material gets to be a lot sometimes, and she does make her exams very difficult, but they are all MCQ, and it is not hard to still do well as long as you do the readings and show up to lecture!

Prof Loeb is a great lecturer and made class very entertaining with her humor. Her tests are very application based, so make sure you are reading the textbook section for each unit. Lowest midterm grade is dropped, final is non-cumulative, and participation is a huge chunk of your grade. I learned a lot in psyc 101 and prof Loeb made it fun!

Nothing but good things to say. Attendance questions are a must, but there is no homework besides chapter quizzes. You have to read the textbook, but it's not hard. She is super kind and hilarious! Very understanding and made the class enjoyable. Every class has extra credit opportunities. The final exam is non-cumulative. She's the best.

Professor Loeb is a real gem. Her lectures genuinely made me laugh. 101 is a heavy content course: much to know and do. It's important to get every point possible, attend every lecture, and do all the readings. Even then, I still found Dr. Loeb's MCQ tests very difficult. To make up for this, there are ample opportunities for extra credit.

Loved Professor Loeb's class! Attendance is required, but her lectures are so interesting and easy to sit through. Definitely take good notes from the textbook and lecture, but it's easy to get an A. Readings and quizzes are due before lecture. 3 exams, 1 non-cumulative final and lowest exam is dropped. Highly recommend!

Great introductory course! It's not difficult to get an A as long as you read the textbook and pay attention in lecture. Don't bother with the daily extra credit, it's so little that it doesn't make a difference. She also gives out comprehensive study guides for each exam!

She is hilarious. It's a big class but she still is able to get people to engage through bonus points and her analogies are memorable. This class is hard though, it is a weed out class, it has SO much information, it has a 600 page textbook you'll need to read, and the tests are hard. It's a good class and Loeb is great but be prepared to work hard

Prof. Loeb is great and if you need to take Psyc 101, I'd recommend taking her. Her exams are really easy (I think our class average was above 80 every time) and she gives out extra credit for participation. The textbook is a lot of reading and she doesn't record lectures, so you're out of luck if you're sick.

Such funny and memorable lectures. A lot of textbook reading so be prepared for that. If you take good notes probably will take 2-3+ hours per chapter. Exams were pretty difficult, but she does give you a broad study guide.

lectures are engaging and build off of the textbook. Read the textbook and take quiz at home before class. Participation is taken every day, but three are dropped. Also, extra credit oppurtunities just for talking in class and she gave us a 10% curve on the final. Would highly recommend for a freshman.

Great professor! Recommend showing up to the lectures as you'll learn most everything you need to know just by listening. Spend a few hours studying before each exam, and you'll be fine. Great class for anyone studying or interested in psychology.

honestly easy to get an A if you put effort in.

Prof. Loeb is by far my favorite teacher I've had! This class is solely lecture-based, but she is incredibly engaging and hilarious. I genuinely enjoyed every class and felt like the time flew by. Easy A if you show up and pay attention since she covers everything you need in class. Honestly never even opened the textbook but did very well.

Actually enjoyed going to class! Really flexible grading - allows drops for every grading category, including exam. Attendance assignments give you lots of credit just for showing up! Tons of extra credit chances. Do the work and you'll get a decent grade.

Absolutely loved Professor Loeb. Even for a class with 350 students, lecture was extremely engaging and hilarious. Midterms were very easy and logical. While there was no curve on midterms like previous sections, we did receive a generous curve for the final (not cumulative and very easy).

Dr. Loeb is hilarious and every class was engaging! The class is very textbook and lecture heavy. Spread the textbook readings out and write down the examples she gives in class as they are helpful when memorizing for tests later on. Great class!!
