Neiman has no understanding of what a 3 credit class is. The final alone (worth a quarter one's grade) is a five+ page paper in APA format (which she expects you to know) and a 5-10 min presentation with visual aid. She refuses to tell you when you will be presenting, so you have to bring your paper and visuals every day or risk a failing grade.
Incredibly easy class. Only complaint is that we never used our incredibly expensive textbook even once...total waste of money. She wants you to use APA, but gives you a link to make it easy.
I took the course on-line. There's a lot of essays and you have to post a lot on the db, however, I think you'll get an A if you do all the work and site all sources. Some people still didn't provide sources even after she told us over and over to provide the source. Overall the class was good and I learned some great things about Health.
I loved this class! It was easy, yet I still felt like i was learning stuff. She was a great teacher and i really felt like she knew what she was talking about.
I took this class online... very easy just do all the discussion boards and assignments and it is an easy A!
She is nice, i have the online class and its easy.
Class was pretty easy. Participate in all required discussions and you will do fine. The tests are pretty simple and right out of the readings. One thing I wish she had was a week by week requirement. It seems that you have to search around a lot to make sure you are not missing any assignments. Otherwise easy class.
Easy online class, follow her instructions and you will get an A. Make sure you follow her time line and keep track of due dates. Good online class, easy way of fulfilling PE/Health requirement.
She desperately needs to proofread ALL of her course material. It's riddled with every kind of grammatical error -- totally distracting and unprofessional. She doesn't give any kind of weekly requirements so you have to do some digging to figure out what you need to be doing. Quizzes are very easy. She communicates quickly.
Easiest class you will take at EDCC. She gives you a timeline for the whole quarter on the first day. Two papers at 100 points each are some of the easiest papers I have written. The rest of your grade is showing up to class which is only required two days of the week.Abdominal days were INTENSE.Overall a great class for your PE requirement
Easy class, nice teacher. I learned stuff, the final paper is 5-8 pages, APA, not hard if you put in the effort. Only complaint is if you miss a class you can't make up group work. This is an easy A class.
Easiest class ever. People still had problems with the work, but put in the slightest amount of effort and it's an easy A. The only difficulty is that she does expect you to know what's been discussed. If it's written on the board you must know it by heart, it will be on the test. And I mean everything. Overall, funny and nice, very down to earth.
Though I took one of her on-line classes, from what I did get to see of Prof. Nieman was very positive. You can't find a friendlier, easy professor. Her alerts on Blackboard can be hard to find, but otherwise very easy going. At least I got some use out of the textbook for this class. You DO have a class paper, but only ONE and it's ONLY 5 pages.
Is really into working out and doing her thing and will make you work your butt off. Hard to slack off in the class except when she is not looking. Two papers which were super easy. Only requires you to come on two days except the first week. Your legs will be sore on leg days which sucked.
Going back to school after some time away I was scared and unsure about many things. Not only was this instructor helpful and excellent in class, she was extremely welcoming and informative about the campus. I am glad I took this class. Learn a lot of great health information and a lot about myself.
Learned a lot in this class but Jeannie makes you work hard for your grade. There was a higher work load than I thought there would be for a contemporary health class. Didn't add final grade I had to figure it out myself.
Honestly this health class was super easy. You dont even need the textbook but it's helpful to have. She does lectures and everything that is on the test she will say in the lecture.
Her instructions make the class and assignments sound harder than the actually are, the class was a pretty easy A just make sure to do the work on time
Had this teacher on an online class. I have never met this lady yet I can already see how incredibly rude she is. "A pointless sentence is pointless" thanks. Could've been put another way. She expects a lot from this class, it's fitness, I don't need to know what it does to the entire human body, just take me on a run. I deserve an English credit.
Great class, I really enjoyed it. The only issue I encountered was the four assigned essays do not have actual due dates listed through canvas. Instead, they're listed in the title, so they do not show up on the calendar or upcoming assignments. Otherwise, everything was clearly laid out and expectations were understood. I recommend the course!
She is always there to make sure you are confused.
My first quarter, and the thing I don't like about her is that she enters class 1 or 2 minutes late sometimes but we finish way before time so I guess it's OK but others might find this irritating. Pay attention in class and to what she is saying and you're good to go in all tests and group work.
Great Class, well worth it, always fun.
For a three credit PE class, it was a lot harder than it needed to be. Throughout the course we wrote five different papers on top of our quizzes, weekly reading, and "mini quizzes". She also seemed to grade things randomly and didn't really have a set rubric.
I appreciate that Jeanine came into class everyday with an upbeat energy. She was excited to teach and she was funny as well. learned a lot from her and it was an easy A. If you listen to her lectures every day, you will pass the quizzes no problem. There was only 1 big paper due and it wasn't difficult; just a research paper. There was no final.
Though professor.
Please read and follow every assignment's dierection carefully if you take her class, or you will lose a lot of points for that. Also please make sure you submit your assignment on time ; otherwise, there may be a 40% deduction. Passing this class is not hard, but you should be careful if you want earn an A grade or above.
Follow the directions and do the work you will get a great grade. Very specific in directions. I like the clarity, but seems many people do not follow the directions and they suffer (grade). Not difficult content.
I took this class online, but i could tell I wouldn't like her in person. If someone asks a question, which she mentioned that we should ask if one arises, she would tell us to check the assignment again. The way her due dates and assignments are set up is messy. had to create a FIVE page meal plan for the final, but we never covered how to do it.
Fairly easy class if you pay attention to due dates. However, she can be quite rude when you ask for clarification about anything. Also, Canvas does not show your actual grade at the end of the course due to the extra credit opportunities and you have to calculate it yourself.
good instructor teaches nice great class loved the presentation assignment
Giving details of which point you need to improve in essays, and it's definitely something I wouldn't see in a normal class
This class was good and the teacher was as well. She always provided helpful000 feedback on my work, and even helpful tips for health beyond the reading. I think this shows how she honestly cares about the subject. Sometimes she can come across a little harsh with due dates of work, keep track of them and work to meet expectations you will do well!
She likes details for the essays, other than that she's quite an easy teacher to me. All of her online homework in Connect is super easy to do, just make sure to submit the essays on time with details and citations then you'll get A+ easily.
Read the directions given, they explain everything really well & pay attention to due dates. She makes them VERY clear. I was pleased with the amount of communication and quickness to reply. Jeannie was always very helpful towards all my Qs. I'm grateful for such an awesome professor so quick in my college career to set the bar for the rest!
Read and refer to the syllabus! It holds the dates for turning in essays and feedback, along with expectations. Everything was very clear in expectations, and I knew where I needed for feedback and questions. The food diary could throw you for a curve if you don't read what is required. Put in the work, read each assignment and you will do fine.
I enjoyed Jeannie's class and I appreciated that she encouraged me to think outside of the box and write my papers topics that were a little outside of the norm. It did seem that there was a lot of homework for 3 credits (3 essays with responses, a research paper, along with reading & quizzes). Make sure you check the due dates and you'll be fine.
Clearly expresses expectations for the class and gives plenty of time to do easy homework. I never felt stressed out about anything I had to do in this class and still felt like I was putting in a decent amount of effort to get an A.
A very kind professor
I took her online class in spring and its easy to get 4.0 gpa from her.
I've taken many classes at EDCC for two years. I've always had amazing teachers that are easy to communicate with. Jeannie is passionate about what she teaches, however she always replies with smart answers. Complains about everything but she doesn't set her own example of writing like college students. Her feed backs are useless and rude.
I enjoyed being in Jeannie's Health 100 class. She always has so much energy and her lectures are very clear and engaging. There's not a lot of homework assigned, besides the readings, the food journal and the big health research paper. 4 quizzes throughout the quarter & they are pretty easy, as long as you study and know the material. Easy A!
Be prepared to know the muscle that you use for your fitness plan. Her first essay is need to be done in certain format which is really annoying. She doesnt explain things well and its your job to read from the manual that she gives. The one that I like from this class is the extra credit opportunities at the end of the quarter.
I really loved my instructor. she is funny and teaches us really well
I took her online contemporary health class for a grad requirement, and it was fairly easy to do well in her class. There weren't very many assignments, many of the quizzes were extra credit, and the essay topics were extremely open ended. Not a difficult class overall, but deadlines are very strict.
Ms. Nieman is a great instructor. Sure, she expects a lot from her students, but that is what learning is all about. She is always able to answer questions even though it is an online class. She addresses the whole class through announcements if it seems that some students are having trouble with certain topics. This is my second class with her.
Good teacher. Quiz every week and a 3 required essays. Provides extra credit though. She explains clearly what she wants in her announcements for each assignment.
Meh. She has taught the majority of health classes. Her curriculum is alright, her teaching is not very well structured and it's almost like being taught by a robot. The curriculum teaches you, not the teacher at all. Messy.
Her health class has more work to do than the other professors . My friend has so little homework but i got three essays to work on and food journal. If you do not want that much work then jeannie is probably not a good choice.
Best pe teacher ever. also a robot
I love how energetic she is during the lecture. If you are here just to get an easy 5.0 and not exercise, then this isn't for you. She really pushes us to the limit of exercising. A very detailed weight training plan and a cardio plan is required in this course.
I did online sports nutrition for fall '19. Easy A class in my opinion. As long as the readings, quizzes, mini essays, and the final paper were done on time, you can get at least an A or B on these assignments. You also learn some interesting stuff in this class too. It takes a while for stuff to get graded at times, but that's okay.
A good online gym/health teacher with clear requirements for due dates at the end of each week, for a chapter or two at a time. My only complaint is the way this teacher formats her essay assignments. They were not hard essays, but the requirements and pieces she wished to see in the paper were all over the place, with things added to the end.
I think that Jeannie is a good teacher. She is nice and kind. She is sympathetic towards grading and is a very good teacher. I really enjoyed my PE100 class.
Great teacher. All expectations for the class were laid out clearly. The class was enjoyable and great for those looking to educate themselves about fitness and how it relates to health and the human body. The workouts we did were challenging and interesting while also being friendly to those not accustomed to physical fitness. Would recommend.
Heavy weekly essays, then she expects us to create some sort of meal plan like were nutritionists WITHOUT giving us proper resources, only relying on websites. She doesnt lecture, like at all. The book she made us buy was pretty useless. Weekly quizzes as well. Ill tell you what this felt like, like i was adhering to an ambitious english teacher
I took PE 111, jogging/cardio. Jeannie was nice and caring! She was considerate and understood if we couldn't attended classes (pandemic). There were many extra credit assignments to make up for missing attendance days. The class itself was very flexible and I didn't have to jog all of the time. As long as you complete assignments, you will pass :)
Jeannie's class was okay. There are quizzes every week, 3 essays to write for the whole quarter, and write a food journal as finals. It sounds like a lot, but the good thing is that she assists us with it. She gives us helpful feedbacks and gives us good grades as well. Oh, and there are a lot of extra credits in her class, so don't worry.
Neiman's PE class is really enjoyable and a calm experience. You can go at your own pace and you don't get pushed too hard. If you want to enjoy a pe class this is definitely the one to choose.
She's a very personable teacher, I really appreciated her feedback and easy to understand assignments. There are lots of papers, but she gives lots of grace, and as long as you stay within her guidelines it's an easy A. The online textbook and reading quizzes were super easy to get done on your own time, which I appreciated.
As a student athlete I can say that this was a very easy class to manage and stay on track in. Working within canvas was so easy because every assignment (except essays) was right there on the dashboard so it was easy to see what was due. The quizzes were really easy and just on everything on the extra credit readings. In the end great class.
I think online essays and discussions are really helpful to push students to read the book. I find it very generous that the quizzes give students a week to do. Other courses professors only give students 1 hour. Lots of extra credit. Food journal really helped me personally. My health improved from learning. Lots of direct feedback to help you.
Her assignments are large but easy enough. She is precise with prompts and explanations which makes work easier to finish as you know what she wants. She is good at responding to emails quickly and is a generous grader. I would not take this class if you hate essays.
I appreciate how she gave us feedback on our work. The work was doable but it was a lot, overall she was a nice teacher.
I've never worked so hard for 3 credits ever. There's a quiz and extra credit each week and that's on top of 3 essays. Essays are 5 paragraphs min with 7 sentences min each and 2 credible sources due one week. Then 2 replies 4 paragraph min 2 credible sources due the next week and a 5 page paper due at the end. It's not hard just time consuming.
Heavy contents. She required exactly 5 paragraphs for an essay and 4 paragraphs for a reply??? If not enough, then youre done. And much more ridiculous requirements for them. She doesnt even want to calculate our grades but we have to do it ourselves. The what shes a teacher for? Terrible!
I took her class online. A lot of essays and papers, though all assignments were posted from the beginning of the quarter. Stay on schedule or you'll stress yourself out. Don't slack off and don't jump ahead. You're best spending your extra time studying. Test questions were VERY specific. If you study and follow directions and you'll do great.
This class is not stressful at all, as long as you do the required minutes of exercise each week and the weekly quizzes. I used an app called "Pacer" and I liked it because it was easy but I didn't like how it didn't track my weekly progress, just daily. I really liked that examples are given for the bigger homework and the flexibility given to us.
Shes a great teacher to take all you have to do is keep up with the assignments and your good
Professor Nieman is so easy! Her PE100 class is so simple. One log a week with 150 minutes of exercise required. Around 7 easy, easy quizzes in the quarter that come straight from canvas announcements. Short quizzes. Her class is an easy 4.0.
I had her for the CPR certification, and she was so sweet. It was a one day class, but I loved it. She went a little fast in the lecture, which is actually preferable for me. Her feedback was always concise and she was constantly cracking jokes. Her class was very memorable, and I definitely recommend it!
Ms. Nieman has been awesome this quarter! Her class is not too difficult, and was only 3 credits, but overall if you put in the effort you will learn a lot. She has a quiz almost every week, 3 short essays, a couple extra credit assignments, and a 5-7 page final paper. Her essays are discussion style. Overall, I would take a class from her again.
I like the straight forward class. Day one you know what you will be required to do and you can plan your weeks around other classes. A couple essays that you do and read other essays. A paper and some quizzes that are direct from the book. Book low cost which is a plus in college. Liked the laid back course.
I have taken a few classes online. I like the straight forward class. Day one you know what you will be required to do and you can plan your weeks around other classes. A couple essays that you do and read other essays. A paper and some quizzes that are direct from the book. Book low cost which is a plus in college. Liked the laid back course.
Professor Nieman was amazing! She provided clear instruction both in person and on canvas as to what the assignments were. Unfortunately I missed a lot of attendance days, however, Professor Nieman took the time to give me extra credit and worked with me to help me pass. Overall an awesome, professor who is there to help you learn.
There are about 6 quizzes throughout the quarter but none of them are very hard. 3 essays and one final 5-7 page paper. Overall not very challenging but her instructions and grading criteria can be confusing. Textbook was fairly cheap and very helpful for quizzes and writing assignments
Literally the hardest class all quarter and only 3 credits! I did more writing in this class than in my English class, and most of the writing you weren't even prepared for. My counselor was shocked at how much work this class had for just a 3 credit PE class. If you just want a PE credit do not take this class.
I loved the class and every activity. Instructions and guides are all clear and easy to follow. The class itself is not pushy which is great for beginners and a lot of extra point opportunities during quarters which is great.
It is great class instructions and guides are easy to follow. There is nothing to stress about it. the class itself is not pushy which is great for people who don't work out or people who haven't worked out long time. So many extra points opportunities during quarters which is great.
This teacher was super nice with every question I had. She posts assignments a week before the due date and most of them are super quick. It was not a hard class at all since 80% of it was participation. Make sure to participate in this class and you'll be able to achieve an A without a worry. There's plenty of extra credit as well. Awesome person.
She grades really hard but she also puts all the grading material there for you clear to read, overall really enjoyed this class!
Professor Nieman has very clear expectations for the course. She clearly states what you must do to achieve an A and offers many resources for you to receive the grades you want including personal help from her. Although there are a lot of papers to write in her class she gives constructive feedback. And provides ample extra credit.
First there is work. But, you are in college so it is expected. Online classes can be tough; this teacher makes it as fun as sitting online learning can be. Required reading is a lot, but she off sets required with extra credit. When you read the book you get extra points. Not sure how you don't get a great grade here. Loved all the content.
If you think you are walking into a PE class you are not so many essays basically an English class!!!!
Fantastic fitness instructor! Motivating, knowledgeable, and creates a positive atmosphere. Their diverse workouts keep things interesting, and clear instructions ensure everyone's on track. Grateful for their dedication to our well-being. Top-notch!
Jeannie Nieman is a fantastic fitness instructor! Motivating, knowledgeable, and creates a positive atmosphere. Their diverse workouts keep things interesting, and clear instructions ensure everyone's on track. Moreover, she is very friendly and aidful with students for get succussed in her class. Grateful for their dedication to our well-being.
You can work ahead at your own pace, but there are strict deadlines. Collaborative work but does have a lot of papers and writing in general. Overall the work is clear, and there are many extra credit opportunities if you want them.
Jeannie is a great teacher, there is a lot of reading involved which can get at time overwhelming with the essays that you have to do. It is not difficult to navigate Canvas for online learning, and it was easy to keep up to date. Jeannie shows that she care about their student work and their learning
Class was easy; you just have to exercise for a set amount of minutes per week. Able to work at your own pace, but with strict deadlines to meet. Lots of extra credit opportunities, along with a few scattered assignments here and there.
Quizzes every 2 weeks or so. 3 essays that require you to post in a discussion thread, along with 2 feedback replies (requires 3-4 paragraphs) each essay, aweek to write the essay and a week to reply to 2 people. Paper at the end, gives 3-4 weeks. You get to work at your own pace with strict deadlines. Extra credit opportunities are plentiful.
Very unorganized instructor for someone that expects strict rules to adhere to. You pay a lot just for the class just to watch outdated youtube videos. Typos all over the final test as well. Waste
