She's a nice lady, but she's a little strange. Her class in general is pretty easy. But she grades kinda hard on the essays. But other than that she's pretty laid back.

She is an amazing teacher. I love her class. She taught me a lot of new things. She helps you a lot and her tastes a bazed on the notes you take in class. If you are an international student take her.

she is a wonderful teacher I wish all my professors taught as she does. She help you in any way she can will not stop not tell you understand grade fair test and quiz are fairly easy if you study and you will pass the class.

She is a very nice lady and her class is pretty easy. Her quizzes are easy if you study for them. She lets you know exactly what is going to be on the test. She does tend to grade hard on the essays, but it just makes you a better writer.

Mrs. Bettis is a very good professor. She is very very very helpful. I am in her english comp. class and i usually am very bad at English but in her class i understand things i didn't when i was in high school. I reccomend her for any english class. You will enjoy her

i think she is great. She is very helpful toward international students and she likes the culture too. She is competent about what her do. Once i went to her office to ask few things about the lesson and she "served" me well. Sometimes she teach with kindergarten-teacher style but its cool

Teacher very basic concepts. Easier than my high school English class. Tries very hard to be a good teacher, but is a little strange. Assigns LOTS of homework.

I loved her. She actually teaches you and class was really fun. For those who didnt like her, you guys just dont know a great teacher when you see one. Has alot of homework but it is worth it

She is a good teacher. she knows what she is dealing with, and always is willing to help you if you have trouble. she can be little harsh on grading your paper, since she takes grammar very seriously, but her tests are easy. She is gonna have tonz of assignment for you, so be ready to turn them in on time, and take notes for the tests.

This class isnt that hard, she is just extremely boring. If you do the "reading logs" as she calls them, you should be in good shape. Little harsh on the grading, but is very helpful when you go to her. Kind of out there when it comes to opinions, saying English is the universal language of the world.but regardless. Fairly easy teacher. Just boring

She is very sweet and will try to help you. She can be understanding and always looks to be in a happy mood but not overly happy. So far in the class, it has been just reviewing nouns, pronouns, gerunds, etc. Very easy and I think it will help greatly with English Comp II. If there is HW, then it is for the "reading logs" or one of the FEW essays.

Ms. Bettis is the BEST english professor i've ever had. Prior to her class, i HATED english and i was sure to get a bad grade. She makes class FUN. What took me four years to understand in high school, ms. bettis taught me in 4 weeks and i learned it better than ever. FRESHMAN, TAKE MS. BETTIS, SHE IS 100% EASY AND THE WAY TO GO!!!!!!

AWESOME teacher! I have learned so many writing skills that I can actually use later. Just come to class and do your assignments and you'll get an A. She's a pretty easy grader and makes assignments interesting.

Take her class. She's a lovely, friendly, reasonable person. Great at working with international students. There is 3 page papers you need to write every week which is quite a bit though. But she is willing to help. Textbooks were recommended but not needed for class.

Professor Bettis is clear, well-organized, and, at times, hilariously funny. However, her teaching style, with its heavy emphasis on review, can become extremely repetitious to anyone who still remembers the Shirley method. Moreover, the writing assignments during the first half of the semester are a hassle. Overall, I would still recommend her.

Professor Bettis is the best English teacher I have ever had. She is very clear in explaining things and organized. Her philosophy is repetition. My improvement in grammar and writing skills proves it effective. Not only is she a great teacher, but she is also a great person. She is charismatic and funny-DEFINITELY RECOMMEND TAKING HER COURSE!!

Sweet/comical lady. Extremely easy class yet informative if you like learning new words. Had a pizza party at the end of the year, don't remember one of those since elementary! Not much homework and what she does assign is simple. Takes a little time to get used to her voice but is very passionate about teaching and helping students.

She is very easy. She teaches you basic grammars but I'm quite sure that you never know it before.If you listen to her in class and understand it, you can do her exams well.Before an exam, should review her notes and you can do it with a very good grade.Don't plagiarise because she will know it.She will read your journal carefully, don't cheat her.

Very helpful and kind. She works with you if situations come up. She gives a lot of papers and homework that relates to the text book, so be prepared for that. She is funny and extremely nice and very approachable.

I took her class last fall and it has improved my writing by leaps and bounds. She is a stickler for grammar but doesn't expect you to know so she teaches you. Amazing and caring teacher, her test are pretty easy if you study the material she has given you. TAKE HER!!!!!!

Her class has 1 five paged paper and a couple 3 paged papers. So far, we've only had one quiz. She used to be a professional editor, so she's a stickler for grammar. However, she knows not everyone was taught the same, so she goes over grammar points throughout the semester. She doesn't always have a rubric for projects, but she grades fairly.

I absolutely loved this class! In high school I hated English with a passion, so I was dreading this class; but it was my favorite class of the semester! Take her if you want to actually learn how to write papers. She is a bit crazy, but I LOVED her class. I almost listened to the other reviews, but I'm glad I didn't! I was constantly laughing.

She is by far the best English Composition teacher that I have ever had. She is very easy to learn from and I actually enjoyed attending class and learning. There are two tests and then a final. If you show up to class, pay attention, and take notes, then it's an easy A.

That is a great English at UCO. I recommend to all students who want to study English Composition 1 (International and US students)

She is nice and clear, especially to international students. Her tests/ assignments are easy. She gives several extra credit opportunities, but don't worth a lot. Although she promises to help, you have to beg her or she will ignore you. she doesn't like to meet students after class as it will shorten her break time, which frustrated me

I absolutely love Ms. Bettis! In a few short months she has taught me more than I learned in four years of high school. She has a hysterical sense of humor and truly cares about her students.

Ms. Bettis is the most genuine professor I have ever taken. If you show that you care about her class, she will go out of her way to help you succeed. The stuff that she teaches is relevant to every day life (i.e., no crazy long papers). Majority of the material was grammar principles. Would definitely take her again.

I had the pleasure of taking Prof. Bettis' Vocabulary Building during my third semester at UCO! Bettis is really outgoing and has this Minnesota accent! She doesn't provide exams for you, she just wants you to show up to class and you'll easily pass this course! She makes learning fun!

Its been two years since I had her during my freshman year. One of the professors, who truly cares about her students. Class is easy if you keep up. For all internationals out there: Probably the professor for comp 1. She is really excited about working with foreigners.

Ms. Bettis is determined to helping her students succeed. If you dont do well in her class, you simply didnt try. Everything she teaches she repeats and does multiple excercises so you can remember it.

She is such a wonderful and caring person that it almost restores your faith in humanity. You can tell she truly cares about her student's success in and out of the classroom. You do have to read a considerable amount but she is not particularly difficult.

Best professor I've had so far. Go to class, take notes, participate, and you will pass. Do your assignments and edit them with the changes she tells you to make. Do not buy the little blue handbook - you don't need it. She is a very genuine, hilarious, and caring lady/ you will learn valuable things/ if you ask, she writes awesome recommendations!

Ms. Bettis is one of the best professors I've had in my entire life. She does not only want you to learn stuff for the time being and pass, but she wants you to carry that information with you. She gives a lot of practice worksheets to make your concepts strong. If you actually wanna learn grammar and get an easy A, take no one, but Ms. Bettis!

Professor Bettis was very good at explaining things and would go over it again and again until we all got the hang of it. There was very little homework other than assigned essays. All around she was an amazing professor and kept me entertained!

She is so kind and funny! She is genuine in her want to help her students and teach them useful things. She takes the time to make a connection with each student and recognize they are individuals. Maybe its just because its 2020 and its mostly online, but she did a really good job at establishing a connection with her students and being kind.

Best professor out there! Don't listen to any bad comments on her. If you turn in your work on time and give a decent effort in her class you will shine. Last semester, on odd weeks she would have two in person classes and one online zoom class while even weeks it was vise versa. Before each test she'll go over what will be on it which is slick!

Shes an amazing professor and even though her lectures may seem boring and some topics take up too much time than it needs, her classes are blow off classes and incredibly easy. She was great.

This was the best English class I will probably ever take and Ms. Bettis was beyond kind, helpful, and understanding. There were only a few papers, very few homework assignments, and just a few quizzes and tests over the semester and she well prepared you for all of them. I would take classes with this professor again and again!

Will do two reading assignments over 2 outside books: 1 due midway and 1 at the end of course. She has you do several papers and test prep in class. It is supper easy but do not let your HW get away from you. For the first half of course, she will make you keep an 8-week personal journal and you must write 2 pages/week with images. Very sweet prof!

I absolutely loved taking Mrs. Bettis class. She's very interactive when teaching and funny. If you are someone who struggles with memorizing she really helps with helping you memorize during class. She is always up for answering your questions and as long as you read her directions for her assignments, you should have no problem passing her class.
