Avoid at all costs. Moves extremely fast through material, and makes countless errors presenting the material on the blackboard. She got angry at students (intro chem students!) when they politely inquired / corrected the blatant mistakes in her work in lecture. Also on a bit of a power trip, don't DARE call her anything other than Doctor.

Teacher is on a power trip! Tests are way too hard for an intro class. Also, be ready for the hardest grading you have ever seen! I got the correct answer for one test problem but only got 0.5 points awarded out of 5 because 1.) I didn't do the work the way SHE wanted. 2.) I did not put in Sci. Not. ALTHOUGH neither requirement was specified!

Painfully boring, that's all I can say. Chemistry is boring, but it's not THAT boring. She was tragically born without a personality. I fell asleep in nearly every lecture, and sleeping in class is highly atypical for me. She loves to trick you if she can, but since the material is so incredibly easy, it wasn't a big issue.

You can do all the practice problems she gives you, but the test will ask you to solve it in a way you didn't think you would have to know. Plus the tests are really short, meaning the questions are rather tricky. I'd rather have a longer test where there is room for error.. And that is actually relevent to all the material that was taught.

Avoid taking a class with her if possible. Yes, it was her first year teaching, but she was not fair and as a student, you could tell she was on a power trip. I understand it is her first year teaching, but she has no style what so ever, makes constant mistakes on her powerpoints, she does correct them after, but if you are a professor you should proofread your lectures beforehand. Grading for the class was appreciated -- acquired points through homework, in-discussion quizzes, labs, exams, projects, etc. Openly professed interest in "tricking" students...which I found to be rather tacky. Professor Szczech is a very straight forward and fast paced instructor. She does a great job explaining things and trying to make sure everyone understands, but has high expectations.
