He is not a very good teacher. I think it was his first year here so maybe he'll get better but he was really hard to follow and I never knew WHY he was doing what he was doing. It's a hard class because it's mostly stuff you've never done before but easy to get an A if you study for tests.
He is younger dude that knows what he is doing. If you do all of the work a couple of times, you'll get the hang of it pretty easy. He drops one exam, two quizzes and a participation point. You need to pay attention in class for all of the programming stuff, but otherwise just look at the powerpoint he will send to you
Class is comprised of a lecture and hands-on work. Be careful of using a Mac as some homework and exams only work via PC. Lectures can be difficult to follow but he posts videos and is great to work with during office hours.
This was my first course in anything computer related, and I learned a lot. Jeb definitely knows what he's talking about, although he can get carried away at times in lectures. His TA's are available a lot throughout the week, and very helpful with any HW questions. We did a lot of computer work, while the other prof did more vocab words. Recommend
Class was informative and very useful for business majors. He really wants his students to learn the material. Very straightforward. Powerpoints in class, little homework. Just practice before the exams and go to office hours if needed. Easy A if you do this. Rounded my 89.4 to an A so he rocks.
I was expecting for this class to be very difficult, but Jeb Sheriff made the material super easy to understand. He is really smart and good at what he does, I would 10/10 recommend taking him for MIS 2113.
Professor Sheriff has been my favorite professor I have taken in my two years at OU. He is very understanding, and it's obvious that he cares about his students and their success. MIS isn't an easy class but he teaches it very well and is very clear on what he expects. He gives a lot of partial credit on more difficult topics too. HIGHLY recommend!
Jeb Sheriff is a great professor who will successfully teach you a lot. His lectures are very hands on as you practice everything you learn immediately after being taught about it. As long as you attend class you should leave knowing how to do everything. Participation is for a grade so you will have to go to most every lecture. Final is optional.
great professor!!!!! so willing to help and wants his students to succeed
Sheriff does an amazing job of explaining all the material and showing how it is useful in the real world. He is accessible outside of class and is eager to help students. Best advice: pay attention in class and you'll do fine.
Professor Sheriff makes this class very doable as long as you attend the lectures and pay attention. He gives really thorough examples in class and posts videos online that I used often and found to be really helpful. With his help I ended with an A. Would definitely recommend taking his class if you can.
Professor Sheriff is pretty chill, and easy to get along with. Most of the class is hands-on work, he will explain everything for the first part of class and then give you opportunities to physically work on it during the second part of class (most days). Usually around 1 homework assignment per week, overall an easy class.
Prof. Sheriff understands everyone isn't a computer expert. He gives lots of examples and is very clear on grading criteria.
The first day of class I was super confused and had no idea what was going on. However, he explained things really well and led us through practice in class which really helped. I got 100, 97, 96, and 98 on the 4 tests. There's really no reason you can't get an A in this class. I actually am now minoring in MIS after taking this class bc i liked it
Professor Sheriff was one of the best professors I've had in college! He was extremely helpful & communicated all expectations for the class. Went over everything we needed to know for each exam so there was no confusion. TAKE HIS CLASSES! You won't regret it!
Hands down the best professor in Price. He understands that not every has a knack for computers or an interest in MIS; he is NOT trying to hurt your GPA. He prepares you well for all of the tests, quizzes, and homeworks, which are all very straightforward. He is so caring and genuinely wants his students to succeed. Wish I had him for every class!
The best professor in Price! He is so passionate about what he teaches and does an excellent job. 10000% recommend!!!
This class was probably the easiest class I have ever taken at OU. I currently have a 99 in the class. He is a very good teacher and almost made me change my major to MIS. Highly recommend if you want to learn some interesting information and take a pretty easy class.
JEB is one of the greatest professors I've ever had. He truly cares about his students and doesn't make his class hard for no reason. MIS is a difficult class, but he makes it bearable. He also realizes that MIS is required and not everyone in the class loves computers. Overall, great professor and a great guy.
Jeb is one of the best professors I have had at OU. He teaches a subject that could be confusing for those not tech savy, and simplifies it. It is a pretty easy class, and as long as you study before the tests and do the homework you should do fine. 60% of students get A's, and the Final is an optional Make Up. Take Jeb, and you wont regret it.
Literally became an MIS major because of this class. Watch out for participation questions which he gives out on random days for a grade. Also the homework is worth so much of your grade that as long as you do it, you can get away with not doing as well on the tests.
Jeb is the BEST! He is extremely knowledgeable about MIS. His test averages are usually higher than in other sections. You have to show up to class to get the participation grade, but it really benefits you overall. He posts lost of reviews and I've always felt super prepared for his exams. He has a passion for teaching, take his class if you can!
Attend class, there is participation activities. He cares about his students and wants to make sure you understand the material.
Lectures aren't mandatory, but he gives a mini "quiz" for a participation point that has a specific password each time so that that as you will. Pretty standard class, he gives lots and lots of examples which is really helpful for learning and the exams. I was able to learn everything and I'm not a computer-savvy person.
He realizes that MIS is not for everyone but teaches it to the best of his ability. Lectures include a PowerPoint and example problems. Sometimes, half of the time was dedicated to just doing homework, which was fairly simple. There were also short 1-3 question participation quizzes at the end of almost every lecture. The final was optional.
If you're taking MIS, PLEASE take him!! He really goes above and beyond to help every student in his class. He prepares students very well for exams and the grading criteria is super clear. He's the best professor I've had here at OU and I switched my major to MIS because of him. Great guy and great instructor!
Amazing teacher for MIS. He really loves his students and teaching and it shows in his classes. The exams and homework are all fairly easy if you take good notes and know what you're doing.
I've taken 2 professors ever which I consider to be 5/5 and Jeb is one of them. If you have the option to take him, it's worth it. His lectures were interesting, his homework was easy, and he's a really great guy. I spent hardly any time for this class and breezed by with an A while still learning a lot!
Professor Sheriff is an amazing professor. He is very informed on the topic he teaches, and also makes sure he explains the hard material very well. The class consists of weekly quizzes along with a few homework. The tests aren't very challenging, and the final is optional. Going into the class I was nervous, however, Jeb made it interesting.
Patient, kind, and funny Prof. Sherrif is a pleasure to have as a teacher would totally take him again.
I was very nervous to take this class but JEB is AMAZING! Even as an online class, he is very engaging and even cracks jokes. He is my favorite teacher as he is very patient, caring, and inspirational about his teachings. TAKE HIM for MIS!!!!!
Great professor and super easy class. If you pay attention youll get an easy A. His class is fun and engaging and he truly cares about his students. Lots of TAs and tutoring available to help, highly recommend his class over the others!!
Most of the grades are exams, but the exams are easy. I would review on the day of and get an A. The test is what is taught, Don't miss class, he is fun as a teacher and a lot to learn. There is also a participation code. Just don't cheat it's an easy pass.
Super fun and funny professor. Classes were lots of fun and pretty easy. Need to show up for daily participation. Many TA's and extra assignments available for help and review. If you pay attention each class you won't get lost and will only need the day of the test to study and get an A. DO NOT CHEAT!! Many people get caught. Great man overall!!
Jeb Sheriff and this class have been the highlight of college thus far. He is seriously the best professor I have ever had and actually makes you love what you are learning. Could not say enough great things about him or this class.
I love him. Definitely the best teacher for MIS. He loves his job and wants you to succeed.
110% the best teacher I have ever had throughout highshool and college. If you have the oppurtunity to take his class, YOU SHOULD! He genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. I was terrified for this class, but he is making me poissble consider minoring in MIS. I am sad this class is over.
Take his class 100%!! He cares about his students and wants you to succeed in life not just in the class. Class participation is an every class kind of thing but it's never hard or long work. He gives lots of resources for practice before the tests and the exams are not hard if you study before hand.
Best professor I have ever taken at OU! He makes MIS easy and interesting. I have never been into programming, but he literally made me passionate about it. Easy grader too.
Jeb Sheriff is a great guy! He truly cares about his students and the subject that he teaches. Now that I'm almost done with MIS 2113, I wish I could go back and do it again because I'm going to miss his energy. If all professors were like Sheriff learning in college wouldn't be such a chore!
One of the best professors I have had at OU! He really cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Go to class for participation. Tests were very easy and just like practice exams, so just make sure you understand those. I learned a lot and would definitely take this class again.
Prof Sheriff Is the best professor I have had at OU. He only teaches one class, but excels in it. Wish he would teach more classes, would take again 100%. Truly wants people to learn and makes it easy to understand. Everything is on the calendar ahead of time, and Canvas page is easy to go through. He does have participation at the end of class.
I was very hesitant to take MIS again, because I had to drop it in a previous semester, but if you have to take this class, I would strongly recommend taking it with Professor Sheriff. This is not an easy course, but this professor makes learning the material understandable. I am very bad with computers and got a B in the class. Great professor!
Jeb Sherriff is easily one of the best professors I have had at OU. MIS is a tough subject, I dropped it the first time I took it, but he made it seem so easy. He is great at breaking down concepts and there are plenty of practice exams. He genuinely cares about his students and makes getting an A attainable.
Prof. Sheriff is easy one of the best professors I've had here at OU. While the topics can get pretty hard, the lectures simplify them and he gives plenty of practice problems to do outside of class. He takes participation through end of class quizzes. Practice exams are very similar to the actual exams. Highly recommend taking MIS with him!
Professor Sheriff has been my favorite semester since starting school at Oklahoma. He purposely makes the homeworks harder than the exams to prepare you for the exams. He gives multiple practices tests that are very similar to the actual test. I had an issue with turning a homework in at 11:30 pm and he hoped on a zoom with me that night to help.
At the beginning of the semester, I did not know how to code at all. I thought that I would fail this class after we took the first exam. However, the class really taught me a lot about SQL, ERD and VBA coding. I recommend taking Prof. Sheriff over the any other MIS professor! He drops the lowest score out of the 4 exams and the final is optional!
Professor Sheriff was amazing. He would go over examples in class that were exactly like the homework. Tests were easier than the homework. Just pay attention in class and it's an easy A.
Loved this professor!! The class is structured very well and he is passionate about what he teaches. I loved how he had TAs available to you during the whole school day, and the material is not that bad if you put in effort. I definitely recommend taking Sheriff!
Jeb Sheriff is an amazing professor, makes complicated concepts easy to understand. He sets you up for success and provides plenty of material to study and help you to prepare for the exam. By far the best MIS professor! Definitely take his class!!
He is a great person and if you show up to class and try at all you will get an A. If you stay after class he is always willing to help you out with anything even stuff not for this class! He is so smart and his stories are just so cool so just go to class because it is fun!
Hands down the best professor/teacher I've had in my life! Show up to class because they are entertaining and you get a lot out of lectures... some lectures are shorter and he will give you time to work on your assignments while being able to ask him or the 2 TA's questions! He is also very accommodating and accessible, loved his class, best at OU!
Best professor at OU hands down, if you're taking this course take no one else. Inspired me to change my whole major/career path. Plus he uploads videos covering EVERYTHING! So you can literally learn everything in 20 minutes before a test. Love this class
Hands down the best professor at OU. The practice exams are exactly like the real exams. He uploads videos reviewing the material. Class participation quizzes are taken every class, and there is a zoom option.
Jeb Sheriff is amazing!!! He provides practice exams that are just like the exams! I got an A on the first 3 exams and a B on the 4th exam! The final is optional so I didn't have to take the final because I had an A in the class. He really is such a great teacher and made everything seem so easy. Definitely would recommend.
If you are taking MIS 2113, take Professor Sheriff! Attendance is mandatory but his lectures are usually pretty short with lots of practice at the end. The practice tests are also extremely similar to the test. I studied a lot for the first test and got an A but the other three, because I went to class I only studied for them about an hour or two.
Best professor on the OU campus, knows exactly how to teach towards different types of learners and the material is easily digestible. Would love to have him for the rest of college.
Jeb Sheriff was such a great professor. He is truly knowledgable and his study guides will help you do well on the exams. Attendance is not required, but there is class participation every class. I would take him again if I could!
I would highly recommend taking Jeb. He makes the material so easy to learn and his lectures are actually interesting. This is actually a useful class that has a lot of things that are practical no matter what your major is. Jeb makes it as easy as possible, gives you two practice tests before every exam, and the final is optional. Take Jeb.
Take Jeb. His lectures are interesting and he applies everything we learn to both the business and regular world. His practice exams are exactly like the actual exams you take. Has lots of office hours and TA's to help with homework. Easiest class ever.
He is very monotoned to where it is very hard to listen to him. I took him specifically because of all the good reviews, but he doesn't do a really good job at teaching as he talks to the class as if we already know what is expected. He is a very smart professor though, I just wish that he would slow down and explain more in-depth.
Doesn't teach super well, mainly just talks. Completely depends on your learning style works for alot of students but not everyone and if your not one of them you are screwed.
This class makes me wish I majored in MIS. Jeb is that good. He supplies plenty of practice problems/tests for you to figure out what's going on. If you pay attention and apply yourself you will get a good grade.
Extremely knowledgeable professor
I love Jeb! Super fun prof who really wants you to succeed. Lots of in class examples. I was scared for this class because I'm not good with tech but Jeb made it so easy. He gives everyone past tests to study for exams. He makes big concepts super easy to understand and gets that not everyone is an MIS major. Take Sheriff!
Jeb Sheriff is one of the greatest professors at OU! He genuinely cares for his students and works to provide them answers and understanding of concepts. He is patient and is aware that most students who take the class have no prior knowledge of coding. If you are taking this to fill your degree requirements, this will be the class you love.
Take Jeb!! I honestly enjoyed this class enough to change my major to MIS. I really enjoyed his teaching style, and he's a super nice professor who genuinely wants his students to succeed, he even has a zoom option for if you're unable to make it to class for some reason. I never scored below an A on his exams either.
No amount of words can express how awesome he is! Best MIS professor by far. He records every lecture and has a million practices to help you. Tests are so easy- just study slides/practice exams! He wears fun suits and starts every class with a song. Attendance does count (each day you get a code for credit) but this class is so worth it! Take him!
He was an amazing professor. I consider myself technology challenged, and I was able to EXCEL in this class. I ended the class with a 97, and I completely understood everything we covered. Prof Sheriff is the best, super accessible outside of class, valuable lectures, very clear, and a fun guy.
Sheriff was a great professor. He gives lots of time to practice in class and his exams are pretty easy.
Explains difficult material in a very easy way.
Best professor in Price. He understands students and the struggles they face. I really liked this class and even switched my major to MIS because of it. If you go to class and pay attention, follow along with the practice problems its an easy A.
Definitely one of my favorite teachers and classes ive taken so far. Hosts zoom classes as well so its easy to attend lecture even when you're just not feeling it. Also uploads all lectures on canvas.
Sheriff was an amazing professor! I loved his teaching style, his personality, & his ability to make this course both educational & engaging. I was dreading this class but loved it! Go to class! Nothing compares to having in class practice with him there to help give personalized guidance. The zoom is a good back up plan but seriously go to class!
Had Prof Sheriff for MIS1113. Attendance is mandatory however he offers zooms that count as credit. Not too much homework and can easily get good help through him or TAs. Exams are fairly easy as long as you pay attention to his lectures and the hw. Would recommend
He is a professor that genuinely cares for you! He clearly loves what he does and teaches it in a style that is relevant for anyone taking this course. Exams aren't very difficult if you study, he is transparent and posts previous exams to help you review. You will have many resources available, he made me love MIS as a Finance major.
I can tell you right now, he is someone you must take! He is super caring and is well respected. If I could I would take him again. He gives out extra credit, optional final (can only help you if you take it), and helps you if you are struggling with the unit. Also go to the minute clinic if you need help. They are all kind and super helpful.
For those of you needing to get you're MIS class out of the way, look no further. This man gives all the exams and they are practically identical. If you fail this class then you were having a bad semester because he gives you every opportunity to pass. But try on the first exam because you will have to take the optional if you mess up.
If your doing MIS just take him, not a hard class, and a good teacher who knows what he is doing
He's actually awesome lol. For a required MIS class, hes the best to take. I literally procrascinated the whole time and still did really well on exams bc of his study resources. He also understands that its a prerequisite class, so he doesn't try to make the class harder than it should be. Overall a really funny guy and good teacher.
Tough to keep up with lectures sometimes, but he is good at helping students understand as long as they try to. Gives us plenty of time to do work.
Professor Sheriff is one of the best professors I have ever had. He is very clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the subject. There is clear application of what he is teaching to everyone who takes it, for both MIS majors and non-MIS majors. He responds to emails in a timely manner and grades very fairly. Take him for this class if you can.
Professor Sheriff is great! The class is pretty straightforward, and the exams are not too hard. Make sure to go to his lectures because he gives a class participation point every day, and they accumulate as part of your grade. He makes MIS interesting. The final exam was optional, and I ended up with a high A without even taking it.
Professor Sheriff is really good and this class was interesting! He teaches the material very well, but there is also the Minute Clinic available with TA's which can be helpful if you miss class. Tests and assignments were very easy and he is nice
MY SHAYLA, i love jeb easily the best professor at OU. I would be a MIS major if he taught more courses.
He is a great teacher, and if you follow along in class about the practice problems, it should be a very easy A. The exams are online, and you get to always check if your answer is right or not before you submit it.
This will be one of the easiest classes you will take in your life. Attendance is only worth 10% of your grade and going to class is very helpful. A lot of the lectures are short and he does a lot of practice problems in class. Provides study guides that are just like the tests.
Jeb is one of the best professors at OU, I went into this class not knowing anything about coding, excel, and sql and he taught it in a way that just clicked. He's very passionate about what he teaches and always has great lectures. Only sad thing is that he doesn't teach any other classes so once you take MIS, that's it.
Easily the best professor I've had. Has really great lectures with practice that help and make your prepared for exams. Got a 100 on 3/4 exams. 100% recommend
Overall, Jeb Sheriff is a great teacher. I think the class can be very challenging if you are not engaged. Attendance is taken via quiz daily, but in order to understand the material I would recommend going every day. Put in some extra time outside of class doing the posted practices, and you will be successful in this class.
Very easy class and Jeb is the absolute best! I never went to class and if you study for the tests and do the homework you will be fine.
Jeb is an amazing professor. There are lots of Excel and other computer things, so be prepared to learn them. If you go to class, you'll get an A
One of the best professors I have ever had. I will recommend him to anyone he is amazing. He wants you to succeed and it shows. Resources are available to make sure you do well. If you give this class even a bit of effort and get help when you're confused you will end up with an A.
Extremely kind and friendly professor. He gives lots of examples and additional material for you to study for exams or to practice on your own, which I appreciated. He breaks down the material very well that makes it easy to understand even if you are just starting out in MIS. Definitely recommended him!
He is a great teacher and very kind. Throughout the four modules, the course was easy to understand. He provides good analogies, and the homework is harder than the actual exams. One of the best professors I've had so far.
Amazing professor. Uses real world examples that translate over to internships and careers. Teaches relevant information and provides great analogies to help you understand concepts better. Do the in class work and homework and you should be able to get an easy A.
Sheriff wants his students to succeed. MIS is difficult but he does his best to keep classes engaging and easy to understand despite the hard concepts. I took this freshmen year and utilized his zoom option when it was pouring rain outside or I was sick. If you don't like big personality lectures may not be for you, but I recommend.
Amazing professor! Lectures are clear and time in class to ask for help. Sheriff is very clear about what you need to know for test which aren't hard as long as you do the practice homework which is almost identical to test just different numbers.
He's funny, and the exam reviews make the exams easy!
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! EXAMS ARE SO EASY AND HE'S FUNNY :) WOULD RECOMMEND HIM IF YOU NEED MIS 2113
For those unfamiliar with MIS concepts, the concepts can be difficult to grasp. Professor Sheriff is a very good instructor, and breaks down how to complete tasks, and applies them to real-world situations. The exams are an easier version of what was covered in class, so just show up and stay engaged with the lecture, and you'll do fine.
I miss this guy so much. He doesn't even know he's the reason why I switched my major to what it is now. He explains concepts really well, and the class itself is a breeze. You get unlimited attempts on almost everything. Gosh, I miss this class. Hope he's doing well.
I wish I would give Jeb more than 5 stars, because he deserves it. I am not tech savvy, but he made this class so easy to understand. He is a great guy, and an even better professor. The tests are not hard and he explains everything super well. I always looked forward to Professor Sheriff's lectures and wish I could have him as a professor again.
He is the best professor! So passionate about what he is teaching and explains everything in depth so as long as you pay attention the class is easy. Very hands on class and he will help with confusion.
The Goat...
I went into this class with absolutely no prior knowledge, but Jeb made it so easy to learn and understand. You can tell he cares and that he really loves teaching this stuff.
Incredible guy, you'd have to actively try to get less than a 95 in this class.
Best professor
Great Professor, his lectures are very engaging and he's a good speaker. He also gives time in class to do homework which is so helpful. The material may be challenging at first but if you put in a little work to learn, it will become easy
