Great Professor overall, I plan on taking him again. He demands that the students preform but makes his expectations clear. Follow his instructions carefully and actually read the chapters. It's up to you to do the work but anyone can make an A if they try. His lectures were very engaging and the whole class laughed quite often.

This professor is awesome! And also pretty cute. I always looked forward to class because he doesn't waste your time. His lectures are really interesting and easy to pay attention to. He makes things very clear and gives pretty easy extra credit. I highly recommend this professor

Professor Stephens has a doctorate and will make that very clear, his lectures are very straight forward and engaging, and the speech is not hard IF you do exactly what he says,but this class is NOT easy by any means, Prof. has high expectations, and test are completely short answer and very challenging

He is great. HE really teaches you how to do public speaking. You will need to practice a lot. making an A not hard if you try. He understands his students. Non-native speakers must feel comfortable to take public speaking with him :)

Dr. Stephens is an excellent lecturist; his class is not difficult to make an A in AS LONG AS YOU TAKE IT SERIOUSLY AND PRACTICE YOUR SPEECHES! It will make you more confident in speaking and making arguments. He gives great constructive criticism, never gives busy work, his assignments will make you think. Take his class - you won't regret it!

I think Mr. Stephens class was very useful for me. He does a good job of relating speaking techniques to situations you encounter. He is also engaging and really wants all of his students to succeed.

I hate giving speeches, but he made them interesting. You have to work for your grade, but as long as you do what he says you will do good. He made everyone in my class laugh. He is a wonderful teacher and I would recommend him to anyone who is dreading taking speech, because you will end up loving it!

Mister Stephens is straightforward, he tells you exactly what he expects. His presentations are precise and witty. A lot of students dropped the class, but its not because of the teacher. If you plan to take his class: COMMIT to it and do your best. Do not expect it to be easy or forgiving. Do the work and show up on time, you can't fail.

Quizzes almost every day. 5 chapters per test. Very interesting class, but you have to actually go and pay attention. I got good grades on my speeches but not on the tests so I only made a 'C'. Would take again but read the text more often.

This sounds dramatic but this class changed my life. Stephens asked important question about where we are in life and where we want to be. Every single class I left feeling more excited about doing the things that I want to do in life and committing to them fully. I also learned that I suck at public speaking but learned I want to practice more.

Read the Textbook and learn the terms that are being given. know current events that are happening all around the world because you don't want to be "that" person.

Truly awesome professor! I felt like I was being motivated to learn rather than being forced. His lectures are interactive so it makes interesting. All you have to do is take notes before and during class and study them to make a good grade. Very impressed.

Enjoyed his class. It was online so I only met with him in person twice. I read the book and took the class seriously. He always answered my questions quickly and efficiently. Not many students take this class because of a desire to be a better communicator, but if you really care about your GPA, as I do, all your classes should be important.

What an awesome professor this guy is. Seriously, he makes me want to get up and do something with my life. Such an easy A, although I was in theatre for most of my life so public speaking came naturally to me. If that's not the case, memorize your speeches, study, and it'll be a piece of cake. He's easy on the eyes too!

Although the class is tough, Professor Stephens is funny and makes the class entertaining. You have to read outside of class and there is a quiz every week. If you don't go to class or read, it won't end well. I would recommend Professor Stephens because he knows how to teach very well.

as long as you show up to every class and pay attention to his grading criteria for speeches when you write yours, you'll pass. The one time when I didn't memorize a speech very well I felt like I disappointed my dad or something. He gave me an A anyways. Seems like a cool dude, he could probably be an actor on a sitcom or something.

WOW this class was intense. Jed will push you very hard to be your absolute best! It was tough, I had to work my butt off for the grade, I usually get A's fairly easily, not in this class. HOWEVER I would absolutely take this class again. This will change the way you speak for the rest of your life. You cannot put a price on this course. TAKE IT!

Dr. Stephens is the best professor at ACC! Very tough, but if you put in a good amount of effort it'll be worth it. He helped improve my speaking skills a hundred times over and I would definitely take a class with him again. He should be teaching at an ivy league.

Dr. Stephens is a phenomenal teacher! There is a bit of reading required to do well on the (weekly) quizzes but the book is ENGAGING and FUN to read. Seriously, I learned more valuable info. in this class than all 3 of my other classes combined! Plus you really learn a lot about your own character. Made us all laugh, not bad looking either..

Dr. Stephens is an incredible professor. Effort is 100% necessary to pass this course, if you are thinking of taking this with a bunch of other core classes with the hopes that its going to be easy, think again. I wouldn't recommend taking this if you already have a busy schedule filled unless you are absolutely sure you can handle the load.

His lectures are interesting but he comes off as pretentious at times. Be prepared to read the book and take notes, as most of the test comes from the book. He also gives extra credit assignments regularly. There are a few group projects in class and only one public speech. He divides the class into groups for the speech so it isn't as bad.

This class is not easy by any means. Most of the learning is by reading the textbook. He gives a quiz over every chapter so be sure to read. You have one 5-6 min speech towards the end of the semester that isn't bad at all. He's very big on "so what?" questions on his exams. His lectures are really fun and engaging and he's pretty cute to look at.

I actually took this course online and did very well. Complete the quizzes and show up for class! 4-6 min speech towards the end of the semester. You talk in front of small groups (5 to 7 ppl) pretty easy course

This class was a lot in the brginnging just thinking about speaking in front of people. But he an outline for your speeches and it really makes them come together. This class was awesome and he is a great teacher. It's really not much work and doing speeches and just by doing the speech you usually pass.

Professor Stephens will treat you like an adult if you are more then ready to act like one. Make your dead lines before they are due and you will pass the class. Get ready to get a Yale education at ACC. After taking his class I feel like I have advanced far beyond my reach. I started as a C student and finished with an A. Read the book!

All the students in his class were always stoked to be in class because it was fun and interactive. You HAVE to read, but the chapters are short and interesting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Dr. Stephens is a phenomenal lecturer, he constantly keeps the class engaged. Attendance is absolutely mandatory if you want to receive a good grade in his class. He's very professional and a pretty tough grader. Everything you do is spelled out in the syllabus and very rarely does he deviate from it. Do your work and show up and you should be fine

As long as you put effort into the class you will do fine. He is a great teacher, but does not make it easy for you. If you put in effort and actually learn the material rather than skate by, an A is not hard to come by.

At first I struggled in his class but towards the middle of semester he helped a lot. I became better at what he wanted, and studied the way to make grades that I originally didn't think I could. He really is there to help you. Study groups in that class help out a lot too.

Hilarious and informative lectures, but I'm amazed I passed the class. Exams make up most of the grades and all questions are short answer. This course is a real challenge but I learned so many amazing concepts in the class. Highly recommend this class to anyone that wants to enhance their public speaking and communication abilities.

This was my first ever online class and I was extremely nervous. He was absolutely amazing, basically just read the textbook and complete the quizzes in it. There are also 3 exam 50questions, and there is a group project and a speech. It was an easy class and I would definitely recommend! Also he is super easy to get ahold of

His tests are mainly taken through Pearson, but 95% of answers are found in the textbook. Using control F on the online textbook you can find most answers. Really good lectures, but serious subject matter. Quizzes are easy, but if you miss any you wont get an A. Lectures are interesting, most material is in the text book though.

Dr Stephens is the BEST! You will have to put in the work and there is a quiz over the chapters every week, but as long as you glimpse over it and know the vocab terms you will do fine. He is incredibly knowledgeable over the topic and makes the lectures both engaging and leaves you wanting to know more. Easily the best professor at ACC.

Hes so sarcastic and funny! He really loves hands on projects though, a lot of group projects which I didnt particularly care for. But he is really nice and an easy grader!

Took the course online, did not communicate much with the professor only due to direct and clear instructions on announcements that were made. Many chapters and quizzes, but were easy and was done at my own pace. 2 group projects, and one presentation assignment. 3 exams with 3 written short essays is all were needed for the class. Easy A.

If you want to improve your public speaking skills, this is the class for you. Dr. Stephens sets students up for success; he gives clear instructions, grading criteria, and good feedback. If you like to procrastinate, this will be a difficult class.

AMAZING! best professor I ever had. Communicates amazing (I'd hope so bc of what he teaches lol), cares, flexible, relatable (he gives assignments covering current REAL issues which I love). I would take him again and again and I wish I could be in person with him he seems great!! Easy A! You can find answers on google for all exams. Not hard work.

Singlehandedly my favorite professor. I'm usually hesitant to take a class where participation matters, but his lectures truly made me excited to get up and go to class. By the end of the semester, every student knew each other well, and emailing him felt like sending a text to a friend. I learned so much about myself just by being present in class

This is more than a speech class, it's a social consciousness class. The professor teaches you not just how to do a speech, but why speech and why communication matters. He can come off as intense but I find that he grades pretty leniently as long as you show up and put in effort, kind of like running with ankle weights.

This was one of my favorite classes to take at ACC so far. Dr. Stephens is passionate about what he does and wants students to learn. His lectures are great and easy to follow. There is a quiz every week, so take thorough notes in class and at home. There is some opportunity for extra credit, assignments are easy, and exams are open book.

mentally prepare yourself for public speaking later in the semester! it is a huge part of your grade and he's very particular about it be sure you're reading the chapters for the quizzes in the beginning of class each week ask questions if you're confused!! not many assignments so be sure to complete and do well on the few you have

Professor Stephens is a very great communicator. His lectures are very knowledgeable, and you will learn so much. If you do your work on time, and well, you will have no problem. He is very organized in the structure of his class, which makes the class impossible to fail if you try. I still pass him in the halls and give him a hi, great professor.

Professor Stephens is SUCH a good professor. He makes lectures engaging and entertaining; the concepts are easy to relate to your own life. There are quizzes every week as well as 1 chapter of reading. Being on time is extremely important; the quizzes start right when class begins.
