He has a great sense of humor and even better teacher. Class is fun so you will want to come. Test are not that bad if you study your notes and read. Sometimes I didnt finish my readings but always review notes! Oh and the first test is difficult but then it gets better.
Great teacher!! I had him for one of my very first classes and now I'm doing a research class with him!!! He wants you to learn it. But his classes are not a freebee A. You gotta work for it. Study the lectures and READ the text!! I found one section to be easier when I read before class. I recommend him to anyone...defintely prepares you!!
Willing to meet with you outsided of class answer any questions.
Tests were combination of lecture and book. If you dont make it to class for lecture you might not pass the test. Is willing to meet with you at anytime.
He is very helpful and he is easy to understand. His tests come from notes and the book. He is funny and you should show up to class b/c there are in-class assignments.
He is very helpful and he is easy to understand. His tests come from notes and the book. He is funny and you should show up to class b/c there are in-class assignments.
If you dont attend class your grade will show it. He covers alot of material in in his classes. If you just study the text and not class notes you will fail. He is not the easiest professor at Sam, but probaly the best in psychology that Sam has. I have taken him twice and had to work for my grade both times. Have an issue vist with him he is fair.
I had him for two classes. He totaly rocks! I loved his classes. He is not a prof that you take unless you plan on doing the work, however you will have the greatest respect for him. He is smart, knows his stuff, fun as hell and always available if you need him. He is always willing to help anyone who will ask for it and cares if you learn the mater
If your a psy major or minor. TAKE HIM! Awesome professor. You have to show up to class because he gives quizzes. Must read book. Mainly the studies in each chapter along with the notes he gives you in class. I wish he was teaching some more things. FREAKING AWESOME. lectures are not boring at all. I actaully enjoyed going to his class.
Great teacher, very helpful if you take the time to ask, test come almost completely from the textbook, does not care about attendance, the lab is a lot of work, you will write 3 10-15 page papers, but he will read and edit the papers as many times as you want before you turn it in, overall an amazing teacher, i would take him again
One of the best psych teachers. Makes subject matter interesting and fun, hes not easy though, his tests cover alot of material and he doesnt give a review. Attend class and read chapters b4 class, especially b4 a test, he pulls questions out of book also. My second time taking him for a class, hes very smart and funny.
best professor i have ever had, took both 234 and 337 with him. he knows what hes talking about, not to mention hes pretty comical too. always looked forward to going to his classes b/c they were always interesting. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I love this class. dr.anastasi is very interesting and hilarious. the tests are only hard if you dont study. i didnt buy the book and i am still doing really good. just take really good notes.
You will work hard in this class, however, you will leave this class knowing and understanding the material that was presented. Dr. Anastasi loves what he does, and he is very good at it. He will not give you a free grade, but he will give you your money's worth. I would never take any one else for this class, he is great prof.
Expect a lot of reading but also expect to learn a lot. He is very funny and keeps your attention and explains the material very well. This is not a class that you can brush aside and get a good grade. You will work and you will work hard to get a good grade, but it is worth it.
WOW Talk about a hard teacher. He's the hardest teacher ever. and also very unfair. took this class and the TA screwed up over. told me what was right and wrong on my paper and he graded everything wrong that she told me was right. he told me i should have come to him for help instead. i had to drop the class so i wouldnt fail it. TAKE SIM INSTEAD!
This guy is amazing! He?s so helpful and completely down to earth. Take him as much as you can! You do need to take notes and read in order to pass the tests. The lab for this psy 214 is time consuming and difficult but he will read your drafts and give comments. Excellent professor! One of the best in the department!
"Dr.Assastasi" is the nickname I have given him (nice booty Dr. A)! You couldn't ask for a better professor! Show up to take the "pop" 2 question quizes that help your grade(psych 336),take notes, go home and read the chapter of the week, and then come in and take the test. This isn't rocket science, it's psychology. Research methods and Cognition.
Dr. Anastasi has to be the best professor i have taken. He is extremely helpful with his open door policy plus if you follow his syllabus and take notes, read the book you will do great plus attendence may not be mandatory but he give 2 question quizes that all together are one exam grade it helps alot of people! HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM FOR EVERYONE!!
Great professor, probably one of my favorites. He had so many interesting things to teach us and the class was just excellent. Made an A because I read the textbook, went to class, and passed his pop quizzes.
you MUST attend class to know whats on the test, READ READ READ! his test are pretty intense and the quizes arent that bad. As long as you go to class & take good notes, read the parts that he touches in class you will be fine.
Amazing teacher! Uses tons of examples and always makes sure the whole class is on the same page about the material! He has easy 2 question quizzes, but his tests are a little tricky. The majority of tests are over class material, but make sure you read the. Also, he does extra credit with the Perp system! He's pretty hot too!!!
His class is fun, and he tells great stories n jokes. Group discussions, and lets the class vote for quizzes. Very cute too!
You don't have to show up for class, but I suggest you do anyways. Study notes and read the book for the tests. He's very funny and is very helpful. I would definitely take him if you are planning on attending grad school.
If you dont have a big broter thats a professor, you will when you take jeff's class. His material is now and from Harvard, Yale, Princeton... Good Guy. Great Professor.
Very great professor. Class is very interesting and he tells great stories and jokes to help you remember course material. Must read book to pass. Tests are challenging, but take good notes. Pop quizzes of 2 questions, sometimes lets the class vote to take it or not. Highly recommend his class!
Great instructor, such a nice person!
This class is not bad. I was expecting it to be incredibly awful, but honestly never made below a 91 on an exam. Just read over your notes (i.e. copy down his power points) and skim over the bold info and everything in the chapter summaries before the exams. His class is always interesting and fun to go to.
Dr. Anastasi is a great professor! This class can be tough, but as long as you read the textbook, take notes, & study you can make an A. Attendance is not mandatory. However, pop quizzes are given so try not to miss class. Curves are given on tests as well. Dr. Anastasi keeps things interesting with his sense of humor. Really enjoyed his class!
Jeff is a great professor! He keeps your attention through jokes and great correlational stories that go with the material. You do have to read and show up to take notes (the short quizzes really help with your grade). He is by far the best professor I've had while at college.
Funny professor..a little hard, but pay attention in class, read notes, and read text material and you should be fine.
He wasn't boring which is good, but his test are really hard. Whatever you do dont skip class because he gives popquizzes
Very funny teacher, in order to pass his class you MUST read the book. The pop quizzes during lecture will help raise your grade if you do well on them. I wasn't looking forward to taking cognition in a mini mester, but I must admit it wasn't that bad. With his good stories that he told during lecture, made our 4 hour time fly by!
You MUST read his book to pass the class. He is an awesome teacher who really loves the subject he teaches
The course Cognition is boring but Anastasi makes it interesting! He's funny and has a cute smile and always tells stories in class so even if the subject matter is boring and hard I would recommend him. He uses a lot of textbook material for his tests because he edited the book so buy it!
The most difficult but most knowledge professor I have had so far. His tests and very difficult but his lectures are interesting and he has a lot of experience in his field and emphasizes the importance of what he is teaching. I made essentially the same grade on every test. You will need to study very hard for his tests
His class was difficult and research methods is notorious for this. But, the professor is great! he is so funny and entertaining when sharing his stories, which are relevant to the topic.
Good lecturer and approachable. Gives pop quizzes in place of taking attendance; you never know when there will be one and it does effect your grade. Tests are multiple choice and mostly from the book; but not always. Some are from lecture. Reading and attendance are essential to passing this class.
Jeff Anastasi is by far the best professor I have ever had the pleasure of taking. Learning has been my favorite psychology course thus far and it influenced me in a positive way. His tests aren't easy, but if you pay attention you will do will.
Great Prof! Really know the material. Tests aren't difficult if you take notes and at least skim over book chapters. He uses pop quizzes to check attendance but they are graded on a very easy curve. No homework. He also gives 3 points extra credit if you participate in PerP studies.
Dr. A is the greatest teacher I have ever had the chance to take. I took Cognition AND Research Methods at the same time and I came out with an A in both of them, including the lab. His class isn't easy and YOU HAVE TO READ because his test are usually majority book information but if you try hard on and put in the work, you will do fine!
If you come to class and read the assigned pages from the textbook this class is a really easy A. He gives you the option at the beginning of the semester to decide which type of test your class wants. My class chose multiple choice-and it was 50+ questions that were pretty straight-forward if you knew the material.
He is an excellent professor the class is not easy but it is interesting and if you read and attend class you will do fine.
Dr. Anastasi is an amazing professor. He is very respected by students because he is incredibly intelligent and fair. Cognition was one of the harder classes I have taken but I enjoyed it and learned a lot. He's really funny and knowledgeable about the subject. His lectures and enjoyable and interesting. Make sure to read and study.
You must come to class everyday, he gives pop quizzes but they are fairly easy if you go everyday. The test consist of a lot of names and theories. STUDY He gives little extra credit. 4 test total. Book def helps, but i never opened it so I lost those test points. Definitely a harder class in sociology field. But he is very funny and knowledgeable.
Dr. Anastasi is a great professor!!! His tests are hard but it's because he doesn't believe in "spoon feeding" which ultimately will help you become a better student. He is hilarious, and relates a lot of the material to everyday events to help you understand better. READ YOUR CHAPTERS!! ALWAYS come to class. Pop quizzes are easy but can hurt you.
He's a cool guy. Has a PhD but doesn't boast about it like other professors. He is very laid back but gives good lectures. The book is required if you want to pass. I took him for cognition.
A great professor. Has a great sense of humor, and makes the lectures interesting. His tests however, are absolutely ridiculous. Take good notes, and read every assigned chapter for lecture and then re-read it for tests. Took him for History of Psych and Cognition, but had to drop cognition
This class was by no means easy but you can do it. You HAVE to read, like 85% of the test is the reading material & he rarely goes over whats in the book. Material is very interesting making lectures easy to listen & he tells jokes and stories to keep it up beat. The textbook is expensive & full of annoying errors so DON'T buy it, rent. Pop quizzes
He's a really good professor, really funny and makes the lectures interesting, I would take him again for any class. He makes his tests hard but he gives grading curves, so it's difficult but he works to make it fair. There's reading and he gives pop quizzes but they are only 2 questions and he curves those too. Would definitely recommend him.
He takes what could be very dry material and sprinkles in hilarious anecdotes and makes it really personable. He grades with a slight curve, so that's a bonus. His lectures are from PowerPoints that he does NOT post online so you have to be in class. Overall, he's awesome and I wish I had taken his classes earlier.
Professor Anastasi is a phenomenal teacher, he makes his lectures entertaining and interesting. His class average goal for each test is a 75% and grades on a curve. His tests can be tricky, get the book and study from the book and his lectures. Don't miss class, his lectures aren't posted online and he gives pop quizzes which will help your grade!
He does a good job of making rather boring information fun to learn. However, there's SO much information you must study for in the lecture AND in the book, there is no review for tests which makes it pretty hard.
I've had this professor for 2 classes now. He's an excellent professor, incredibly knowledgeable. His courses are difficult, but it's because he expects the best. If you come to class, read the book, and do the work, you will make good grades. If you need help, he's always available through email or in person. He really makes class fun, too. 10/10
As long as you are willing to work for it, you can get an A. The main hard part about this class is the paper. Do great on that and the tests and you will be fine. READ! and always visit with him with questions/concerns.
At the end of the day, Research Methods is a hard class, and you can't expect it to be easy no matter who you take. This was an extremely difficult class, but I would not want to take it with anyone else. He makes you work for your grade to say the least, but his lectures are fun, and you learn so much. I respect him a lot.
You absolutely need the book, about half the questions on the exams are from the reading. Attendance is not mandatory, but he does do pop quizzes that average to form 20% of your grade (along with 4 noncumulative exams). Absolutely amazing and hilarious professor that makes lectures exceedingly entertaining. Loved Anastasi!!
First and foremost, beware of pop quizzes. Skip class and you will not pass. Other than that, solid professor to choose. He will provided feedback. If you are a lazy student you will most likely struggle. Do not be lazy, and you will succeed!
He's super friendly and the lectures are really interesting. You HAVE to read the textbook to pass. Test questions go over textbook info that wasn't in class. Tests are hard and specific but you can get extra credit through PERP. Skipping lectures also lowers the chance that you'll pass, because like I said, the test questions are pretty specific.
AMAZING lectures, 50% of exams are the book that isn't covered in class and you will not pass without one, and skipping class is a bad idea.
Read the book or you wont pass. He never talks about material in the book. Test have 60+ questions in a 50 min. class. Doesn't give PowerPoints regardless of your disability. Doesn't give study guides. Tests cover PowerPoints and 100 or more pages in the text. Gives random quizzes over the readings. Final isn't cumulative. AVOID if you want a life.
Great professor. tests are hard but he does curve them. lectures are interesting and easy to listen to. don't skip class bc he gives random quizzes that count as grades. Reading the text book is important, but the chapters aren't to long and if you don't procrastinate on the readings it's not that bad.
Anastasi is such an interesting professor. He works hard to keep his lectures interesting. Get ready to work hard though. Its definitely not an easy A. He doesn't take attendance but he gives random quizzes that you have to be in attendance for and they're not easy. His tests are also hard. You absolutely have to read the book.
One of the best professors I have had at Sam. He helps with everything and makes lectures fun. There are random quizzes and in class assignments to grade for participation. He is awesome and I highly recommend taking him.
I think the overall nature of this class was what made it difficult not Anastasi himself. Paper and tests were hard for everyone but I think he communicated with students extremely well. It a pretty tough grader but it's because he wants you to succeed. He is a very good professor though and relays information clearly and accurately.
A true GOAT. I've had Dr. Anastasi for a couple classes and he was phenomenal both times. Research Methods is one of those classes most students dread taking, but I didn't mind taking this class at all and that is all because of Dr. Anastasi. If you truly care and make that known, he will make sure you succeed. 10000000/10.
Had him during the Texas storm. There was a complete lack of empathy for students without water, power, and heat as there was an expectation to have been studying during the storm for the 2 quizzes and 1 unit exam we had on our return. Also he's a big fan of the founder of eugenics. This is need to know for incoming POC and disabled students.
I get this semester has been tough, snowstorm knocking out power for a week and its still a pandemic, but this prof has not been kind enough to help with due dates, and his lectures are boring and hard to follow. Right now Im waiting to take the final that should have started an hour ago and still has not opened yet. I do not recommend him
Amazing professor, his lectures are very interesting. He does give pop quizzes though, therefore it's important to show up. Besides the pop quizzes there is 4 exams that are not cumulative but are made up of what you read from the chapters and lectures.
He is not flexible at all to issues happening in students lives and is not accommodating, even to those out sick with covid. He does not give helpful feedback, he also is a very 'my way or the highway' type of professor. He is the first professor I have ever had trouble with and his class was literally the worst!
He wrote the text book himself. He splits the exams half from book and half lecture. The text book is very lengthy. During lecture he will offer pop quizzes if majority say yes you will take it. If you are in attendance you make at least a 50. The is 4 exams and NO final. He grades you on quizzes and exams.
If you have never seen a manuscript before? PLEASE research them and study them, you will have to do your own and it is complicated even for the stronger students in my class. Pop quizzes are based on majority votes, he wrote the textbook you have to get, study that. Not clear about the due dates, doesn't care if you have family or health probelms.
Overall great teacher. However a lot of work has to go into his class. He wrote the book, so you have to read it and study the material. His lectures also have material that will be used in the Tests. However he explained concepts thoroughly with examples that made sense. Hard class but can get through it.
His exams are composed of material from both lectures and the textbook. Each exam covers 4-6 chapters of info with no study guide. It is very difficult to retain all that information or know what to expect on the exam. Personally take someone else who doesn't overload you with readings and takes into consideration your other courses/workload.
His class is probably one of the most difficult classes I have ever taken, but the way that he lines up what to expect and how to study makes it easier to learn. This is not a blowoff class, and he has pop quizzes that cannot be made up, but he drops one at the end of the semester. Prepare to study, as exams are hard. I would 100% take him again.
I went into this class worried because it was strictly exam based (with some pop quizzes from time to time) but I surprisingly did extremely well. If you go to class you have a very good chance and doing well. Dr. Anastasi is an amazing lecturer and I truly enjoyed his class. Go to class and read the textbook and you will do fine and learn a lot!!
There are 4 exams and pop quizzes (the class votes yes or no). He is the best psychology professor I have taken at Sam. You NEED the textbook because half of the exam is based on it. The chapters are long but well-written and interesting. Exam grades are usually low, so he adds curves if needed. Overall, VERY hard class but worth it.
Such an amazing professor and a super interesting class. You NEED the textbook because about half of exam questions are from lecture and half are from the book. He gives pop quizzes, some are over lecture and some are over book but the class usually votes. I still recommend reading the chapter before class just in case. Would totally reccommend.
I took this course online during the summer (DO NOT TAKE FOR FALL/SPRING). I failed miserably during the spring due to the unnecessary pop quizzes. Exams are easy, do your notes and watch the HEAVY lectures and you'll be fine! Wish the lectures were more straight to the point & less useless info/stories. Great professor and course isn't too bad.
Dr. Anastasia will require you to do 3 things. 1. Come to class 2. Read your textbook 3. Pay attention to the lectures. Everything you read in the textbook is fair game for the exams and they ARE 50/50 textbook lecture. If you don't like to read, don't take him. His lecture are interesting and yeah, be careful of his pop quizzes. They're not hard
Dr. A is an amazing professor who just wants the best for the students who truly are there to learn. If you attend all lectures and follow through them while using the textbook for extra information you will pass. Attendance isn't mandatory but encouraged because there are pop quizzes and they are SO easy if you are attending and paying attention.
he was funny and seems to really care about student outcome. the class is easy if you do the readings and participate
This review is for experimental seminar. The class is easy. All you have to do is read and participate in class. :3
