Great lab teacher, very relaxed. I learned a lot. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the material. I actually knew what was going on. Bonus questions on practicles and if you take decent notes you'll do great. I took this class during the summer and it was very manageable.

Excellent lab teacher! I was not looking forward to this class at all, but Prof. Beck made the class interesting and I really learned a lot. Peaked my interest in Biology. He is very knowledgable and also very well prepared for each class.

Best lab professor anyone could ask for, he will keep you entertained and he doesn't spend the whole class staring at pictures and droning on about useless information. I took him for both 1406 and 1407 labs, and I am glad I did. And he's not afraid to admit when you prove him wrong either :-)

Very easy. There is a quiz at the begining of each class, but as long as you study your notes and the lab unit from the book it is REALLY easy! His review for the midterm and final cover EVERYthing you need to know. He will also help you when you need it in the lab.

AWESOME! i learned more from him in lab then i did my lecture teacher. you do have quizes every class and 2 practicles but the second one counts as your final we always get out of class early and he makes me want to do better in biology

Great class, great professor. Much better than my lecture class. There is a quiz at the beginning of every class, but if you know your notes and the previous lab, you'll be fine. Write down everything on the board but don't worry about anything else. Definitely show up to class.

He is my lab teacher. AWESOME! Make sure you study though. He will help you all that you need, just make sure that you study before class because there are quizzes every day and the practical is really long. I highly reccomend him!

I took his lab class in summer session. He's really nice, humorous and teaches very good. Easy grade as long as you study the stuffs on the board :) He teaches wayyy better than my lecture professor.(It took her 2 days to explain the same stuff and took him to explain only 10 mins very clearly!!) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

Professor Beck is clear on his expectations and if you listen and read your notes, you will get an A. Would take him again

Amazing teacher! Very easy to understand!There is a quiz every week in the class, but as long as you study the notes directly from the board during class you will do great. Also, remember the chemicals that you used during the labs. There are two lab practicals that count for the majority of your grade, so make sure that you study for those!

He brings to life & makes it very easy to understand the concepts learned in lecture. (i understand the concepts better after this lab than from lecture alone) Great teacher. Highly recommended!!!

If it wasn't for my Lecture class being so horrible, I would of just taken Becks class for the fun of it. I love his 'straight to the point' & 'here is what you need to know' outlook on the class. He doesn't 'beat around the bush' & he is just 'short & simple' with what is going to be on the lab quizzes. I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT HIM & HIS CLASS!!

Teacher was awesome! Most of my lab professors before this one were awful but he made the lab a pleasure to attend. He just wrote what you needed to know on the board and let you know exactly what you needed to know and what diagrams. I would absolutely recommend taking him.

All professors at quad c should be like him. Tells you EXACTLY what to know, so make sure you copy from off the dry erase board. He doesn't try to trick you. Has a great website, HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING IT, to review for the practicals, just look over your board notes and use his website, you will get an "A"

Mr.Beck is a great lab teacher! He explains every lab clearly and if you study over his lecture (everything he has on the board) you will get a good grade.

Beck is AWESOME love his class got a B in this class but its all my fault never studied if i did then i would have totally got an A. Hes really helpful and all his notes are his quizzzes and his practicals are hard but he prepares you well enough.

Professor Beck is pretty awesome. He has been teaching for a while but doesn't look or seem old. He gives really good and helpful notes that are basically what's on his quizzes. His lab reports are actually just filling in definitions he gives you on a packet. Practicals are veryyy hard, but that'll be in every single lab class. Recommend!

AMAZING teacher! Memorize the notes off of the board and you will get an A on your quizzes. He also drops the lowest quiz grade and gives a review for the practicals. He tells you everything you need to know. There are no written lab reports. They are all worksheet that you fill out. There are no surprises. He seems to care about his students.

I had him for lab. I can't stand biology but his class is actually interesting! He always has some story to tell and is involved with the students. Tests are ok if you study a little bit. He writes all you need to know on the board! Great teacher

Wonderful Teacher! Breaks the information down, leaves out all the unnecessary fluff making lab and subject matter much easier to understand. I have not been in a lab class in over 20 years so I was concerned as to what to expect. He makes class interesting and fun and his stories relate to topics being worked which helps a lot! Easily the best professor I have had the pleasure to learn from. Recommend sitting in front of class as he writes all important information on the white board. All course material is explained quickly and clearly in an interesting manner. If you can't learn from Beck, then you have an issue learning in general.

AWESOME prof. he is the only reason i had any understanding of lecture. he gives quizzes that come straight from the notes given on the board. attendance is necessary for quizzes and lab reports, but he gives you a list of due dates and sticks to it. he is awesome, if i get another opportunity to be in his lab i will!

Mr. Beck has a gift for explaining things concisely, yet he makes it all make sense. He teaches it like it is, without any unneeded stuff or big written assignments to fret over. Prof. Beck put everything you need to know on the board, so sit in the front. Attendance is not mandatory but we were quizzed nearly every class. I took him for lab only for both 1406 and 1407. He seemed irritated when a person had a question or didn't understand the lab entirely. Take him.

Prof Beck is so cute! He's one of the best teachers too. Easy quiz every week of class and once you're finished with the lab, your'e free to leave. No lab reports to write, he gives you things to fill in! I wish he was teaching A&P!!!

GREAT PROFESSOR! He made coming to lab so enjoyable and pretty much just let you do your lab with your group and leave once you were finished. I never stayed in lab for more that 1hr and 30min. He did lecture before class, but it didn't take long at all. Quizzes mostly every time you have lab, but they are exactly from his lecture. TAKE HIM!

Lab: Gets you in and out. Gives you what you need for the lab and quiz. Quizzes are straightforward. Each practical has a major review - he tells you very clearly to go to the review. Does NOT use lab time to lecture!! That is a good thing!

Great professor! Always gives a heads up/ warning about the lab procedure, and runs over to help if needed. Teaches concepts parallel to lecture, and reinforces the material. If you have him, you're in good hands!

Loved having him as my lab teacher! Very clear on everything and he knows what he is talking about. The labs are easy and interesting. There is quizzes every class but he gives the proper material to know what to study to make an easy A on every one. You do HAVE to study though. Loved his lectures and enjoyed going to class. Always finished class early, usually an hour early. You have a quiz every week; they are easy. Only two exams and I found them to be hard.

Prof. Beck is easily my favorite teacher I've had in my college career. He has everything written on the board when you come in and you help him fill in the blanks, an easy quiz every week but study! His class flew by even though it was 3 hours. He let us leave early when we were finished with our hands on lab part. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I'll miss him!

Best professor to take for lab. I'm a non science major and he was super easy. He's very clear, reviews everything and sets you up for an A. If you take him make sure to sit close to the board, as everything you take notes on is written up there. He's friendly and you never stay more than an hour and a half. Trust me: best lab guy ever.

Great teacher, very concise, specific and helpful. This is a difficult class especially if you're not a BIOL major, but if you come to class, study and do your work, you can get an A. There are quizzes and homework which are very useful to prepare for the tests. Wish Professor Beck would teach other BIOL classes.

Extremely informative man, hilarious, makes learning fun and easy, even a hard subject like biology. He is 100X better than my lecture professor, very straight forward notes and lab instructions, just take a picture of the board and you have what you need for the quiz. Professor Beck, is one of the gems of the Biology department. He definitely pours his heart into his craft. Was blast getting to see him show us how to prepare and go through all of our experiments. Professor Beck is easily one of my favorite teachers in college! I thoroughly enjoyed his class because he is personable, fun, and clear on his lectures! He made my biology lab class fun, something to look forward to in the morning! He also made sure to tell you all the things you need to know to succeed!

BEST PROFESSOR EVER. I'm actually annoyed with him (and he knows) because he isn't teaching lectures. he would be AH-mazing. He's light hearted and funny. He grades TRUTHFULLY. Even if he likes you, if you fail, YOU FAIL. (highly unlikely). You better grab his class, your missing out if you don't.

Prof. Beck is the real deal. As my Biology 1406 Lab-Segment Instructor, the man was an absolute awesome human being. Excellent labs with all the tools you need to ace each segment. He quizzes you on the EXACT things that he teaches you, so if you know how to pay even the basic levels of attention, you should do just fine. 10/10 - Would take again!

Not an easy A. You have to show up because he gives great notes and lectures in class. Study the board and your weekly packet, you'll do fine. Does require studying but you'll do well if you follow his notes. Lets you leave once the lab is done. Quiz and packet due almost every week. One lab report. Two practicals but gives great review sessions.

Prof. Beck is helpful in lab. He is specific in what you need to know. Go to lab every day and write down everything he writes on the board, complete the work and take 30 min. and study your notes before the next class because there will be a quiz (10). They aren't hard, just know the material. Also, make sure to go to his practical reviews (2).

Easy grader. Gives you all the resources to do well. If you study the material briefly, you should have no problem getting an A.

great guy knows how to get the info across simple and to the point. quizzes at the beginning of every class, but very easy to get an A If you look over the info for 10-15 mins before class. labs are easy and fun but lab reports, mid term, and final makes up 80% of your overall grade. easy A or B class

Nothing but good things to say. He's amazing. I'm bad at science, but the class was easy for me. He's super chill and knows what he's doing and talking about. Because of Covid, it was a mixed class where we came in once every other week. He still did his best to learn our names and have fun with us. Listen to everyone: He's great.

Great Lab professor. He is laid back and lays out what to do to get the grade. You have to go to the lab if you want to pass. He has given me the point on exams even if i fail to fully explain a concept but show that i at least understand the basics.

Just show up and do the work. The assignments are not difficult and he is very understanding if you have any problems causing you not to attend a class or miss an assignment. Very helpful during labs and has great explanations. This was a class that didnt stress me out and its because the professor was great.

There aren't enough words to describe how amazing Professor Beck is. I was excited to go to lab & I'm seriously sad it's over now. He responds well to students who participate/answer his questions. He's so funny and makes the class fun, it's a shame he doesn't teach lecture. If you can take him for lab, DO IT!!!! He is seriously THE BEST, 10/10!!

I wish he was my lecture professor! His labs helped me succeed not only in his class but in lecture as well. You can tell he really loves Biology and teaching it. He is also quite funny and interactive making the 3 hour class a lot less boring then it could be!

Beck has been my favorite professor by far!!! His lab is amazing! He gives a quiz each week which covers last weeks material! Be sure to not miss class as experiments are always happening which would set you behind. Practicals are pretty easy in my opinion!

After the first week of lab, THERE IS A QUIZ the following week, so study those quizzes to help boost your lecture grade. So don't skip lab, as you will be missing a quiz AND participation, there are notebook checks and two practicals. Notebook checks go over each unit, so print those out to help with the quizzes and notebook, will help a TON!!

Professor Beck is funny and caring about all his students. Was understanding and made class fun not just making it feel as a stressful time.

Professor Beck makes the lab fun and engaging, though the class can be a bit tricky. unstuck study and the free textbook are super helpful for acing the quizzes and practicals. Definitely worth taking!
