By far THE BEST prof I have had in my 2 yrs. @ this university. Easy to understand, helpful, FUNNY, and a very fair grader. The simulation was awesome, don't be scared of it like I was! I would recommend to anyone!

Professor Bernistein is a wonderful teacher. I learned so much in his class through the simulation. His lectures are crystal clear. If you go to class and participate you will do fine.

Jeff Bernstein is awesome. He knows it all and is my favorite professor at EMU. It was fun coming to class and the simulation is awesome. You are stupid not to take this teacher. No-one else can even compare!

He is the best teacher I have ever had. I knew nothing about political science before I took the class, and came out learning a lot more. He is very funny, I had him at 9 am, and I looked foward to starting the day with his class.

I agree with everyone else, very entertaining, especially at 9 am. I have never had another professor remember my name the first week of class in a semi-large lecture hall. Just make sure you participate, and you will do fine.

You won't regret taking any of his classes. One of the truly dedicated, energetic profs around.

Best professor ever? Yes, yes he is. If you dont take him for Poli-Sci, then you're not a smart one. He was the best teacher, and because of him i might minor in poli-sci. Take his class, for sure.

Jeff is one of the nicest profs. I have had @ EMU. His lectures are very clear, and he knows what he is teaching. If you dont get atleast a B in his class you are an idiot. Attend his lecture b/c that what the tests are based on. This is an easy class.

Professor Bernstein is probably the best teacher I have ever had. His lectures were dynamic, he kept a topic I wasn't really interested in exciting and he is just an all around great teacher. He presents the material in fun way. You should definitely take his course if you have the opportunity!

Jeff is great. His memory for names is incredible! Knew everyones name by the second class. How did he do that? He makes the topic very understandable even if you have no clue what is going on.

Jeff is an awesome professor. He makes you interested in politics and he is very easy to understand. He is also outstanding with names and would do anything to help you pass the class, like even hold late night study sessions before exams. I would love to take another class with him.

One of the hardest classes for me, but because of Bernstein, i understood everything he taught me. He pushes you to work hard, and cares how you do with things...Take him for everything you can take him for.

He's incredible. His class is so much fun. I think he just took the lead as my new favorite professor. I wish I could take all of my classes with him.

Great professor. Loves what he teaches. Go to class everyday. Don't have to read, he covers everything in class. Only had 2 tests, multiple choice and short and long essay. Gives out extra credit. Exciting, fun atmosphere

He was amazing. I took government in high school and hated it, but he made me interested in politics and how our system works. I loved going to class everyday-he made things SO interesting. He's very funny and extremely friendly. I looked forward to his lectures every day.

Bernstein is an awesome prof & person! I couldnt stop taking classes with him! He's good with making dull material relevant. He knows how to teach stats, you'll constantly analyze after his class! He's hilarious (watch for yiddish of the week), & so helpful with anything you need. I know MANY ppl that are very politcally sucessful b/c of him!

Prof. Berstein is a character. He loves educating students about government. He has a great passion for his career. Very outgoing, up beat. 5-6 quizes that cover material covered. 3 tests that aren't too difficult if you go to class and take notes.

AWESOME GUY, GREAT TEACHER (KNOWS HOW TO TEACH)! definitely take this guy if any one ever needs to take it!

Lots of papers and writing involved, but it's worth the work. I was NOT interested in government, but this quickly became my favorite class! Go to class and the simulations, get involved, and I guarantee you'll have fun. He's a GREAT guy who's funny and an amazing professor.

Awesome! You can tell he loves to teach-gives fun extra credit assignments. Do the reading, he quizzes on it. Tests are fair-not too hard but not easy either. If you go to class and take notes, you will be fine. I never liked PLSC before this class, and he made it fun.

One can notice that Prof. Bernstein has an extremely high level of passion for politics and teaching!! He's very animated, fair, and has a wonderful personality. We had two exams and multiple 2 page papers that were simple and interesting. I would take his class again for fun if I could afford it!

Prof. Bernstein's lectures are honestly entertaining. He is funny, charming, and still manages to squeeze in some American Government teaching. The simulations are important, so go! Above all, he wants you to THINK. Learn what he offers and apply it! As an added bonus, he sings and juggles. What a guy!

He is simply an inspiration. His classes are interesting, especially when you are put in small groups for discussion. You will learn from the papers you write and get to learn about politics the fun way. I highly recommend you take this class with him!

Excellent professor! Makes research methods interesting and easy to understand. His required readings of journal articles makes the class practical to the real world. I just heard he was recently promoted to a full-tenured professor, he definitely deserved it!

He is one of the best professors , I have ever encountered. He is very passionate about what he does and he enjoys helping people learn the political process. If he is an option, TAKE HIM!!!!!!!

Prof Bernstein is great. The class was entertaining beyond just the subject matter. The only problem is that he doesn't teach anymore undergrad level classes that I can take.

Awesome teacher. Very funny and makes class enjoyable. One of the few teachers that I have taken that makes it easy to learn and do well in his class. Seriously just go, take notes and do minimal studying and you will learn alot, he is that good of a teacher.

please please take him! I had no interest in the class at all and no prior knowledge of politics but i still passed and he made it exciting. He likes to make it easy for students. tells jokes too to lighten up the mood of the class. Going to class is a must though in order to pass.

He Was Awesome!! Loved his class. HE helps in any way he can and he explains everything. I hated government and political science before I took his class because it is boring, He mad it fun!!!! HE loves to tell funny and somethimes not so funny jokes. He is truly my favorite teacher yet!

I had him for a graduate level MPA statistics class during the shorter summer semeester, so I was worried going in. He is an excellent professor. He is very clear and has an outstanding sense of humor. He grades fairly, his assignments were reasonable and he kept encouraging the class to not to give up on this hard subject.

Awesome teacher. If you have a chance to get into a class with him, do it. Some assignments may seem confusing but if you email him, he will explain it as many different ways as you need and even may give you an idea on how to start a paper. Definitely my favorite teacher!

AWESOME teacher! Makes class interesting with his sense of humor and the way he teaches. I'm not saying it's hard and I'm not saying it's easy, BUT if you pay attention and attend class most of the time you will learn a lot from him and pass. I'd recommend him any day!

Superb professor. Displays nearly unmatched enthusiasm when teaching and always makes you look forward to class. Not hard, but he makes you happy and willing to put in extra effort yourself. Did not use textbook. Extremely supportive and recognizes your contributions. Cannot praise him highly enough.

This professor is excellent; engaging and informative, it was a lot of fun attending his class. The subject wasn't my forte, so it wasn't the easiest for me, but he was very helpful. Probably one of the best classes of the semester. Definitely worth taking!

this is my 2nd time taking this class cuz i bombed the first time with a dif professor but now im doing really well all thanks to mr b! he is hilarious, this isnt one of those classes where u stare at the clock waiting for it to be over, he makes class interesting and u dont even realize its time to leave when he says ok see u next class

I was not interested in government, but that all changed with Prof. B! He was one of the funniest most professional college instructors I have ever had! He makes a super boring subject so much fun. He does grade a bit hard, but it is 100% fair.

Dr. B is one of the greatest professors on this campus. Grades tough and assigns more work than you think you can do, but you learn more than you normally would and leave with a great experience. If you are looking for a blow off, don't take it. Otherwise, I would recommend this course to any Poli Sci major/minor.

Dr. Bernstein is fantastic. His lectures are interesting and entertaining. He assigns a ton of work, but is encouraging and grades fairly. He is genuinely excited about what he is teaching. Every serious student at EMU should take a course with Dr. Bernstein.

Without a doubt, Dr. Bernstein is the best professor at Eastern Michigan University. The DC Travel course is an absolute blast, if not for what you get to see, then definitely for the way Dr. B engages you to interact with DC and all it has to offer. He's simply the best, all of his classes are far above the rest.

great professor! funny, smart, engaging! he is a very nice man. he is so enthusiastic and upbeat! a couple research projects with lots of writing so stay away from it if you hate essays. overall you cant go wrong with his class

My favorite professor thus far, as this is my first semester at Eastern. He makes class fun and the jokes and laughs shared actually end up going into the lecture. I genuinely learned and retain more from this class than all of my other classes combined. I would loved to take another class with him and in fact I plan to next year!

I think we can all agree that Dr. B is the best professor at EMU! I just took his D.C. experience class, and it was fantastic! I had a great time, and I saw a side of D.C. I could have never seen without Dr. B facilitating. He's funny, charming, intelligent, energetic, passionate, and fun! I would recommend him to anyone!

Bernstein is a great guy. If he has time in any way, he'll make it for you, if you care enough to actually try. His classes are full of humor and the intellectual challenges are deep. That having been said, Bernstein is not an Easy A. If you want that, go somewhere else. If you want someone who you can really challenge you, take this guy.

Not even done with the semester yet, but Bernstein is a wonderful teacher. Funny, insightful, and educational- while not being too difficult, he's my favorite professor in the department, perhaps the entire university. Oh, and the lack of textbook was the icing on the cake!

Helps when needed, and has strict deadlines. Easy to keep up with.

Jeff gives pretty clear grading instructions, and he's always willing to answer questionsprovide feedback. If you do things his way, you'll get a good grade. He tends to make a lot of jokes in class, and it can be a bit much. I don't want to take a class of his again.

Dr. B is awesome! He's really funny, and I have learned a lot in the two classes I have taken from him. Very few tests. Interesting, engaging coursework. Would definitely take again.

Dr. B loves his job, and it shows on a daily basis. He cares for his students, and has an absolute blast while doing so. Not only that, Dr. B is well versed in all things politics. Take his Washington D.C. course... its a phenomenal week long experience (3 credits!). Easily one of the top professors at Eastern. Always puts "Education First".

Dr. B is one of my favorite professors at eastern. Even though this class was in the morning, it was one of my favorites just because he is so awesome. He really does care about his students and wants them to succeed.

Dr. B is one of my favorite professors I have had at Eastern! He makes learning government actually interesting. He is a tough grader, but I would recommend meeting with him to go over your papers. It is a really great class overall and Dr. B truly cares about his students.

Dr. B is the best professor I've had. Really great guy who cares about his students. Tells a lot of jokes and stories to make topics interesting. Gives really interesting reading assignments and projects. Midterm and final are directly from the notes, so very manageable.

If every professor @ EMU was like him we'd have an amazing university. His Campaigns and Elections class is group project focused but if something goes wrong in your group you can communicate it and he will take it into account while grading. Plus his jokes are funny and his class is highly interactive, come ready to learn while having fun.

Dr. B is one of Eastern Michigan University's best kept secrets. He is such a gem, he truly loves and cares about his students, and he truly does provide the scaffolding so that we can reach great heights. You will have to work to get a good grade in his class, but the effort is well worth it. I recommend him to everybody.

His lectures are interesting and engaging, and he doesn't bore you with slides/power points - all of the papers/assignments were interesting and made you think. Jeffrey Bernstein is my favorite professor! He is so caring and wonderful and makes his students feel really appreciated. I am so fortunate to have mt him, I wish he were the instructor for all my classes!

I enjoyed just about every minute of Dr. Bernstein's class. His lectures are engaging, funny, and very informative. He is a skilled educator, and describes things multiple ways to cater to different learning styles. It's hard not to learn if you are in his class. Fabulous professor with a passion for teaching, very inspirational!

LOVE Dr. B. Hes hilarious and although lectures can occasionally get boring as most do, he always teaches interesting material and facilitates good discussions. Gives good feedback & grades fairly. Loved his court simulations. Actually convinced me to change my major to political science and helped a lot with it too. Hope I get to have him again!

Haven't met a better professor than Bernstein at Eastern. Funny, thoughtful, an aware of his audience. Balances discussion, reading, and lecture very well. Expect to read a lot, but also expect a professor who wants to see you succeed. If you need it he'll be there for you in, out, and beyond the class. Was astounded how many in the room knew him.

Dr. Bernstein is one of the best professors here in the political science department. He cares a lot for his students and it really matters to him if you are going through something personally. He also takes this same care in his lesson plans and homework as they are actually meaningful. Since this class is normally hard he makes it a lot easier.

Probably the best teacher I've ever had, super nice (even though I'm pretty sure he actually doesn't like me he's still very nice), and really funny. Very good class for non polysci majors, and the honors section isn't too hard to manage. Very engaging style of lecture, and you wouldn't be satisficing by taking his class.

I took PLSC 113 and PLSC 379 (Washington D.C. trip) with him. Loved both! Interesting, fun assignments and activities. Okay grader. Reasonable assignments. Super funny and friendly! Highly recommended!

Dr. B is the best. So funny and makes the class very interesting. If you take a class with him, he will definitely be one of your favorite professors ever!! PLSC357 is very group work heavy, you get put in a campaign group to work together for the whole semester but its an amazing class!

Even if you have to move your whole schedule around to take Dr. B, DO IT. IT'S WORTH IT. Such a great guy, more than willing to work with you if you put in the work too. Even for an honors class, it was pretty easy because he explains everything thoroughly and gives you plenty of time to complete assignments. I cannot recommend him enough.

This was my favorite class I have taken at EMU so far. If you have the chance to take a class with Professor Bernstein , I urge you to do it! He really cares about how his students are doing, and I get excited to go to his class. I am an elementary ed major, and this class still was one of my favorites! There is small group work, but it's easy!

Dr. B is the best professor at Eastern. He is super easy to talk to about classwork or just life in general. He truly cares about his students and wants to see everyone succeed. If you want an A, you'll have to work for it, but it is definitely a good class to take in general.

Dr. B really cares about his students, and makes that clear by how he teaches. He's really funny and makes what could be an extremely dull class actually entertaining. At the end of the semester he has the class do a Constitutional Convention simulation which is kinda work heavy (when he asks you who you want to be ask to be a journalist).

Easily my favorite professor at Eastern! If you have the chance to take him, please do. I took every class taught by him & was always happy with what I learned and the grade received.

I really enjoyed Dr. B and this class. He keeps class fun and interesting. The exams are essays that have a word requirement of 800-1200 words which was often difficult. He doesn't really give grades higher than a 93% on things but he always leaves comments. There is a mock constitutional convention at the end that is fun over zoom!

I had a lot of fun in this class. It is not a class that you can simply show up for. He makes you participate and work on a group project which is essentially the entire course. It isn't too bad though.

Quite possibly the best professor I have had while attending this University. This class was mostly graded on one research final paper that we worked on for the entire semester and he did an excellent job helping us through every step. He makes class enjoyable and is very accessible outside of class. I couldn't recommend him enough, take his class!

I would go to war for this man. Berstein is without a doubt the best professor I had in either undergrad or post-grad. His ability to infuse humor into the driest topics is unmatched. Accessible outside of class and consistent in his standards that he holds, I believe he is the best educator I've ever had.

I would take a bullet for Professor Bernstein. He is extremely funny, and can make even the most boring of subjects interesting. He is easily accessible outside of class through email and office hours. The class is based on one big group project with a few essays spread throughout the semester that culminate in the final essay.

He is the icon. Dare I say more? Everyone should take a class with him! He cares about students and if you at least try, show up to class, and do the work he is very reasonable!
