This guy kicks ass!

Jeff is kind hearted, funny and awsome. He cares a lot about his students and loves to help people. He really cares about his students learning the material. Plus his just sweet.

He is a really funny guy that cares a lot about his students. His constant beevis and butthead impressions are just great. I joke around with him a lot and we get a long just fine. Very highly recommended.

Awesome Dude, really rocks and is very helpful. He enjoyed class participation and had alot of energy in his teaching. "Dr. Evil" makes the class fun, you would need to take the class to understand the last line. I recomend that you take his class. If you enjoy rock & roll this class is for you.

Awesome! Jeff is alot of fun! He knows his stuff, and his "Dr. Evil" impersonation keeps things interesting. He's always open to suggestions, and will do whatever he can to help you through the class.If you need a music class and can't sing or play, this is a good one to take.

Yeah Baby Yeah! Total Austin Powers fan and lots of fun. Probably one of the nicest professors at AVC too. Just show up to class and turn in the work and you'll do fine!

Prof. Bretz is very funny and entertaining, approachable and willing to assist you in any way. For this class, as long as you take notes on the lecture and in class videos you will do just fine! His Mr. Evil impersonation is just amazing..not to mention his Bevis and Butthead!!!

I enjoyed his class tremendously. The only problem I had is his 3 tests he has are hard! His tests consist a lot of what is in the book and a little on his lectures. So read make sure to read the book and know all the info. Overall I really enjoyed his class and he truly is a good/nice teacher.

this class is the easiest and funnest class i have ever taken. he is helpful, entertaining, energetic, and gets you interested in the class. easy tests, the second was take home. if u need transfer class for arts/humanities take this class because u will pass with an A if u take your tests and go to class. hes a mix of steve zahn and dr.evil

Mr. Bretz is such an amazing guy. His unique way of teaching makes this class so much fun! His assignments are manageable and fun. He has an incredible sense of humor that will keep you laughing while you learn. Definitely the guy to take!

Jeff is an awesome teacher, I would recommend him to anyone. He even said, "you can show up to my class stoned everyday and still earn an "A" if that's not stating enough I don't know what it!

Take the class. Makes the class interesting. Also, plays in a band on the side. Great Guy. I tried MUS 101 two times and could not believe the crazy things that you were suppose to learn. Jeff made Into to Rock & Roll great.

He has his own unique teaching style; however, I found it quite irritating at times. He explains and tells you what you need to know for the test and final. You have three small papers and 1 large paper due..no homework. Easy..takes long breaks so it's hard to want to stay if you take night classes. He go off subject a lot and talks weird.

the prof. is pretty cool, makes the class funny and interesting. But he goes off topic too much and the stuff in his lectures aren't always on the tests, so you need to study the book pretty well. Doesn't really say what he wants you to write for the papers so they're kinda confusing. Tests are hard, most of the stuff on them were in the book.

My Fellow students... comming from a music enthusiast, don't take jeff's class if you're looking for an easy "A". Jeff is passionate about what he does and how he does it. Music is supposed to be fun and real. Don't insult jeff because he is soft. Motivate and inspire a man like Mr. Bretz who does'nt follow the trend set of how teachers should act.

He's a pretty cool guy. Makes class loads of fun.

I took his History of Rock n Roll class, and I've got to say he's one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He provides pretty much all the information you need for the tests, which are amazingly easy. Not to mention his final is open book and open notes, you'd have to be an idiot to fail this class. Take this class, it's amazing.

Class is not boring, he makes it interesting. He is really funny & makes the class fun. The tests for the most part are not that easy if you don't read the book. The final is extremely easy, you can use your notes(audio journal), book, and previous tests. You do have to write a 7 pg paper which is before mid semester, don't leave til last minute.

Great Teacher! He is the best professor I have had. History of Rock n Roll is easy if you study & attend class. Paying attention is essential. He is funny & cute! I recommend him again & again!!!

Bretz is awesome! Both my husband and I have taken his class and we got A's. He keeps the class fun and moving quickly. The class work is very easy, and if you think the tests are hard, you have a head injury. Basically, if you are breathing and have lived in the US for the majority of your life you should pass this class.

COOL FUNNY EASY VERY HELPFUL

He's very goofy and repeats the same jokes often, but he grows on you over time. The class is not difficult at all and he's really lenient on test and assignment answers, but he's not very lenient on due dates. Book isn't really necessary, but you can use it and other notes on the final.

Great teacher, fun, nice, silly. I recommend taking him. The biggest assignment we got was an essay about our favorite band. We also had two critiques, ten worksheets, and an audio journal (in which we write a small commented on the songs we listen to).

This teacher is absolutely wonderful. He makes the class fun and exciting. It was the one class I was actually excited to go to. The assignments were pretty simple. The tests are super easy. He gives us the answers the class before the test and the assignments are simple. He didn't explain it thoroughly but it didn't need to be.

If you need a music course, TAKE THIS CLASS. I learned so much in this class and had fun in the process. The tests are easy as long as you study and listen to the songs he plays for you in class. There is one paper about your favorite band. He's a stickler when it comes to MLA format and grammar so know your stuff! Overall great teacher. Easy A.

Brentz is an easy going instructor that has the students well being in mind. Took History of Rock-n-Roll. Pretty easy class if you pay attention to lectures and songs. Take good notes and listen to the music and you'll pass his class. Buy a used book and save money.

Loved Professor Bretz! He was so kind and helpful. Really cares about his students. He even burned me some CDs to listen to based on some music I liked. He is also a singer and a guitarist. He is hilarious and adorable and I wish I could take more classes with him!

Prof. Bretz was a great instructor. He is very student conscientious and very knowledgable. Attend class, be attentive to the lectures, audio sessions and complete the assignments and you'll pass with a good grade. He is an easy grader if you put forth the effort and complete the assignments. I would definitely take him again.

Wonderful professor very knowledgeable. Was great with letting me switch from the monday to the Wednesday class because of a time conflict with work. Really passionate about the subject. If you're open and honest with him about what you're having a hard time with he will do his best to help you. Amazing prof. Wish I could take more classes with him

Great professor!! Took him during the summer and he always made class very enjoyable. Easy A, however, be prepared to memorize and take good notes. His tests are all fill in the blank plus an essay. Sounds hard, but the questions are straight forward and he grades generously. Very caring professor, I wish I could take him again!

Jeff (as he likes to be called) is one of the most coolest professors at AVC. Gives a homework packet the first day of class and isnt due until close to the end of the semester. His lectures are pretty cool, hes very funny and super nice. The final is open notes and quiz!! Easy A class and really fun interesting!!

I took Jeff for intercession and I could not have loved the class more. I really enjoyed his class and was thankful he has a book system so you wouldn't have to buy the book. He makes his class fun for everyone. Even if you don't like rock and roll, you'll still enjoy this class.

Jeff is super funny! He has a real passion for music and it shows!! I would 110% take him again. My sister also took him and saw him at a bar in town with his band. He's a goober and is a easy grader. 1 paper and a few test. Like come on you get to watch music doc. and listen to music most of the time in class how much better could it get lol!

Professor Jeff Bretz class was so much fun! He made learning The History of Rock N Roll very interesting. He is very clear on what he expects. If you fail, its because you didnt show up or you didnt do the work. Take notes because thats what the quizzes are on. Loved this class!

Professor Bretz is one of the coolest instructors youll take at AVC. No powerpoints, all notes written on the board so you know whats important. He is hilarious and is there to help you with anything. Few big assignments (paper/live critiques) w/ quizzes and tests throughout. All HW is given at the beginning of the semester for you to complete.

Jeff really knows his stuff, and is able to lecture really well without any boring powerpoints. He's hilarious, and always keeps the class laughing and interested. He can be a bit difficult when it comes to the research paper, but he just wants you to hold yourself to a higher standard. Tests are pretty easy, and his performance reviews are too.

If youre a warm hearted person with a great sense of humor, who enjoys and appreciates interaction amongst other fellow warm hearted people, TAKE A CLASS WITH JEFF! Very straightforward guy, the assignments are actually fun to do. Hes awesome at connecting with the class during his lectures and not to mention hes got a singing voice of an angel!

Jeff is a very kind and cool guy, and it was a pleasure to take History of Rock 'n Roll from him. He always prepared the class for exams by writing down important information on the whiteboard during lecture. If you take notes and also read the textbook, you will be golden. Jeff is the one to take if you want to have fun learning about Rock music!

Took this class during Intersession. Clear about what he expects. Grade consisted of a homework packet based on readings, an audio journal based on class notes, 2 exams, 1 final which was open notes/book, and audio quizzes. Definitely has a passion for this subject so class is never boring. Would recommend!!

Jeff is a really great guy. He made alot of jokes in his lectures, but they usually had to do with the subject. He's passionate about what he teaches. Very cool and caring professor who loves the history of rock and roll. Very simple and easy audio journals and notes. Study your stuff and you'll ace your test. 1 research paper, 3 test, and an easy homework packet. Impossible to fail the class. He sets you up to succeed and is very easygoing and accessible outside class. Genuinely nice guy 10/10.

This professor made online class not so bad. He definitely keeps it interesting and lecture is more of a conversation as opposed to an actual lecture which was a nice change of pace. I would definitely take this professor again!

Professor Bretz is great; always in an uplifting mood. He seems to love what he does with teaching and playing his bass. He is a very caring person who wants all of his students to succeed. Do your work and it should be an easy A. I loved his class and I never dreaded hopping onto zoom for this class. This class introduced me to new music!

In Professor Bretz's class there is never a dull moment. He is very engaging with the class and cares about his students. As long as you do the work and try your best, you'll pass this class. I would 100% take this class again if I could.

I took his 6-week summer class. A good amount of work because its an entire semesters worth. If he drops you it's because he is saving you from getting an F. It's likely you are skipping multiple assignments. It's not a challenging class. If you do the work, the lowest you'd get is at least a B. I found it to be really easy. Generous grader.

Truly adore Jeff, he let us call him that lol, I would love to have hi again. Such an easy class, kept us engaged, it was at night time but I didn't mind because he was so funny and he made the time fly by. Really cares about what he is talking about, you can tell. Can't put into words how much I love him.

Such an easy and nice class! However, if you procrastinate, it definitely won't be fun, make sure to do things ahead of time. One research paper (At least 4 pages about your favorite band) and 2 little papers about a concert you watched (at least 2 pages). I'd recommend setting reminders for yourself for the homework cause it's easy to forget.

If I had a choice between living in war torn Israel or taking this class again, I'd live in Israel, because this Class is awful. There was on average 8 assignments a week, and they were all due 5 days after they were assigned. People trying to have a life, nobody has time for this. He must be Shakespeare from how much he cares about English Grammar
